Fahmi Abdallah's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 8:52 AM
My phone already has a flashlight. My weather app shouldn't be the back up. Still does the basics alright. But this new look..I can't vouch for. Tone it down with some color or at least a option for a dark theme. The Android version is winning with its beautiful dark theme, what's up with iOS getting the love?
👈this guy right here's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 8:22 PM
I bought this app way back in its infancy, and was blown away by it, recommending it to all my friends. Of course there were some minor hiccups, but minor. This update, however, is just awful. I don’t mind the redesign, but you have to be kidding me with this location bug, I constantly have to refresh the app to get my proper location. Today, for instance, I noticed clouds in the sky getting darker while walking my dog, I just shrugged it off no big deal dark sky will alert me if there's any chance of rain in the next 10 mins. Needless to say, I felt some drips, only to check the app and see that my work location was where dark sky thought I was. For now, I'll stick with the native iOS weather app.
LifeInLoFi's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 8:03 PM
Used to be a five-star app. Recent updates eliminated the hour by hour forecasts in favor of more vague and less informative 2-hour blocks. Now, much of the reason to use the app over, say, The Weather Channel app is gone. The widget is cool though and displays a concise, informative summary.

bakerkm45's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 6:14 PM
It just reads “Dark Sky” on the complication and if I click into the app itself, I just see a black screen. UPDATE: I was excited today 9/6 to see that version 6.0.4 claimed to fix the problems I and many others have noted in our reviews. Alas, the new version fixed nothing, at least on the Apple Watch. Complication still says “Dark Sky” and clicking into it still leaves blank watch face. Going, going, gone...
Danpopbradley's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 5:43 PM
Agree with many other reviewers of the new version. Opening the app has my location from the last time I used it and only way I can find to force a refresh is to swipe to another location and then come back. Not real user friendly. Also, agree the new UI is hard to see and follow. Not what I paid for. All I want to know is will it rain and, if so, when. That is what I bought the app for and I struggle to find that simple information now.
jsinko's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 5:30 PM
I like the new update. I’ve used Dark Sky for years. One thing I liked in the old version, though, was when it said “feels muggy” or “feels nice” under the humidity reading. I wish the new version would adopt that.
////ZZZZ's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 5:29 PM
I have always preferred Dark Skies for it’s clean and simple interface. This new redesign is atrocious and forces users to look at the least practical view of the weather first thing (does anyone actually need a tiny weather map of previous hours cloud cover?). Sad to say I’ll be deleting this app and looking for a better way to check the weather.
Fashion 500's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 5:04 PM
99% of the time, I used to use this app for a quick way to check the high/low temp for the day via widget. New design makes this difficult by forcing me to expand it and even then I can barely read the tiny texts at the bottom. Oh, also yeah, the whole design throughout is about ten steps backwards visually. This app isn’t called “Bright Sky” right?
nochoicejoyce's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 4:54 PM
Now you require FULL TIME TRACKING....to enjoy the robust features of your app. This user will delete the app if forced to allow your company to track my locations 24/7 in order to have the functionality that I chose to PAY for. Hopefully other users feel the same and you choose to do the right thing- give us back the option of full functionality WHILE USING. feeling betrayed.......... -liked the translucent background better -love the time machine

a very hot tater tot's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 4:18 AM
This is hands down the best weather app. It is extremely accurate and very resourceful. However, it recently underwent an update and now it no longer a tells you the humidity %. (Unless I just can’t find it..?) I found this part extremely helpful so I could mentally prepare myself for the days in this hell hole of a New England summer. Mind you, I absolutely hate summer & would rather take an extra long New England winter, which are pretty brutal. But this is how much I hate humidity & I like to have the facts while complaining to anyone who will put up with me suffering. Please bring back the humidity % hour by hour play by play feature so I can know exactly what I’m up against.
Tatsu24's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 4:14 AM
It’s just awful now. It looks like some high school junior’s mobile app class final project. They took all of the best parts about Dark Sky (including the DARK) part, and scrapped them. I regret recommending this app to so many people. Edit: The Apple Watch complication is buggy. When it does work, it decrease the type size of the temp and added a graphic that is completely unnecessary. Also, the Android version has a dark mode - why doesn’t the iOS version?
Qrstuvm's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 4:02 PM
You’re better off using the free The Weather Channel app than paying money for this. In theory it seemed like it was going to be a fantastic down to the second accurate app, but with using it for months now I can tell you that your better off walking outside to see what the weather is going to do. The forecast option on this app is terrible. It’s wrong 99% of the time. Also, it’s not user friendly at all. Save your money.
Whatever0194959029395's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 3:22 AM

Fdmnyc1's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 3:02 PM
Why did they take a great thing and mess it up? The new version often does not load the weather. I try killing the app and restarting it still does not work. Works about 75% of the time. This makes the app useless for me. Don’t waste your money until they fix this.
skeeJay's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 2:27 PM
Frankly loved the old unique design, such as the Today Extension with a large classy temperature. It did one thing and did it well. The new Today Extension is squat, bold, and crammed with more icons. Frankly looks exactly like the default Weather extension, and I think I’ll probably just be switching to that one.
Daddy Thomas Monster's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 2:20 AM
Save your money. This app is getting worse. I have been getting severe weather alerts, but it won’t tell me what the alert is. The forecast has also gotten more unreliable. It will forecast cloudy with light rain while the apple weather app correctly forecasts thunderstorms.
HaHaRich!'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 1:50 AM
Ever since the update, there’s been a strange development: the hourly forecast does not actually show the forecasted weather. The top will show a heavy rain storm coming, have a warning about thunderstorms in bright red, but the hourly break down says “cloudy”. That’s not helpful.
Jgftyyhgff's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 1:44 AM
This wasn’t my favorite iPhone weather app before the update but it was the only one that worked perfectly on my Apple Watch. After update it is pretty much completely useless on my watch. And also doesn’t alert me to upcoming rain in my current location anymore. As far as the app on the iPhone I don’t mind it as much, actually somewhat like the update. But connectivity to watch needs fixed asap
Jim B5664474394's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 1:37 PM
Used the app for years, love it generally, but the redesign has made it less obvious what today’s chance of rain is. The daily percentages show under the temperature for each day, but not for the current day. You need to switch to the percentage view in the hourly to see anything.
Dmackinnon3's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 1:26 AM
Since the redesign the app has had a lot of issues. I’ve used Dark Sky since the early days but now I’m considering finding an alternative. Firstly, the Apple Watch integration no longer works. Now I just get a black screen when opening the app on my watch. Secondly, the app always reverts my location to New York even though I’m in Denver. Every time I open Dark Sky I have to explicitly set my location in order to get my forecast. The app was working great before, whatever they did with the rewrite seriously affected the quality.
Airporthound's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 1:09 PM
Overall, the update has been great. However, when it comes to the Apple Watch, it’s a fail. While using the Utility watch face, the icon is simply a sun or cloud or some other icon. It used to be the temperature. I can see if it is cloudy or sunny or dark! I can’t see the temperature. Yes, I can relocate complication to the bottom where more text is available. But I prefer that space be used by something more useful, like the calendar. BRING THE TEMPERATURE BACK PLEASE! Update: The temperature is back! Thank you for listening.
DazMacabre's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 12:51 PM
New update is very flawed. When app is launched from a closed state, it shows data from the last time and location it was opened. Only workaround is to force close and relaunch. Up to this incarnation, the Applewatch complication displayed the current temperature, now it just shows an icon for the conditions. Not good. I enjoyed it better when it showed the current temperature. Please fix this! So frustrating!
HowWeLooking's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 12:50 PM
App is working much much better than it did. Old This has got to be the most useless and inaccurate weather app I ever used. Phone X says one thing and my series 3 apple watch says another. App alert says rain will be stopping soon... I look outside and it was not raining or had been raining all day. Looked at the forecast for the day it said -80 degrees for the low. I live in Ohio not the north pole. It told me 31 inches of snow expected, only got two inches. I know I live in a hole in the wall city in Ohio but this app should at least make the weather believable.
BrettB00001's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/6/18 12:44 PM

DB799703's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 7:39 PM
The latest update me it better but the map is still basic. The overall UI is not great. The individual user options are just not there. Last but not least, the next hour forecast displays the precipitation terribly. The look isn't good. The only reason it's mostly accurate is because it displays minutes before weather change. Other apps like Accu weather can show you better and with accuracy as to changing weather. Don't fall for the hype that it is the most accurate. A paid app should be better than free but not in this case. If it had to be a paid app it's worth no more than .99.
alexmarques 's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 7:28 PM
How could an App go from state of the art design to a peace of junk design? Are you kidding me? It’s not only terrible design, it’s not functional as it was not clear at it was. Now it’s completely confusing. Should re-hire that iOS designer, and fire this nee“Android” designer, responsible for the mess. Dark Sky, should go back and issue an apology to every single user.
Quantumhobbit's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 7:14 PM
After the update the app keeps showing me the forecast for New York City even though I have previously entered my address Crashes occasionally too.
anarchyx34's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 7:14 PM
Since the last update, the complication doesn’t update and the app itself crashes. The few times it did work I noticed that the page that shows current weather stats (humidity, barometer, etc) is no longer there. This is disappointing because Dark Sky was one of the few 3rd party watch apps that actually worked. As far as the main app itself, the update seems to have been mainly for aesthetics at the expense of clear access to information. I’m hoping the developer rethinks some of these changes and realizes that most of the user base cares less about pretty pictures and more about detail that the popular weather apps don’t provide.
Debster52's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 7:07 PM
This app updated while I was traveling so I thought that was what happened with the graphics and interface. All my favorite locations are gone and I have to continually re-enter them. This interface is dull and boring. Instead of enhancing your app you made it less functional and boring. Please bring back the old version!!
rubusmont's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 6:34 AM
Moving the temperature column so far to the right of the time column makes the app difficult to use on an iPad and impossible to use on a larger iPadPro! Having the column of temperatures wave back and forth to the left and right is irritating on iPads of all sizes as well as on iPhones. Due to these recent revisions the elegant simplicity of the app has been destroyed. After years of daily use Dark Sky is no longer my “go to” weather app. It’s difficult to imagine why anyone would intentionally ruin such a beautifully simple and useful app by making such unnecessary and foolish revisions.
MissTurrey's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 6:28 AM
This app used to be incredibly clean and easy to use. Now it looks like every other weather app and most of the information is too small, and not with the real estate it gets by default.
devinmarieb's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 5:55 AM
I honestly don’t mind the re-design but the app is so buggy now. It constantly re-sets my location to NYC and I’ll look at the weather thinking I’m looking at my own city when I’m not. The map section no longer works. The play button doesn’t move the storm, it glitches out and just keeps shifting it a centimeter forwards then a centimeter backwards on and on. Right near where I live there’s a weird small line (maybe .5px) that makes a square around Great Britain. It’s like if a storm tries to go beyond that line it freaks out and shifts backwards. Maybe I’m living in some weird Truman Show...that’d be interesting.
clin0048's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 5:51 PM
Simple- there’s still no dark mode, and there’s still no high/low on the main screen by the current temp, and there’s still no option to remove (or move down the page) the useless map, the map is still terrible, This app has gone from my favorite weather app to an app I keep on my phone because A: I hope you realize the error of your ways and restore it to its former glory and B: to continue leaving you 1-Star reviews until you fix this awful joke you’ve released upon the app world
Why a nickname??????'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 5:34 PM
Have used and lived this app for years now. But the redesign is disappointing. Used to be aesthetically pleasing in it’s simplicity but now looks ordinary and vanilla. Plus more complex and harder to see/find the info I want. And it is buggy... I have to now open, then close and reopen the app to get it to update. Not good.
hominid's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 5:02 AM
Used to be great. Totally useless on the watch now. Complication is invisible and when I tap on it, it briefly flashes the conditions then tries to open the app which stays a blank black screen. I hope I don’t pay for this app. I wish someone could make a weather app for the watch that worked. Oh well, I’ll delete it and try again in a few months.
G_Spell's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 4:07 PM
I’ve never understand the thought behind the Dark Sky UX. It’s weird and confusing. Right now there is a “Next 24 Hours” weather report, but if you click on the current day below it they produce different information. Not sure why they aren’t the same? Maps are still sub par and take forever to load. The ONLY reason I use Dark Sky is for the weather push notifications letting you know when rain is starting/stopping. Other than that, this app isn’t worth the money if you haven’t bought it yet.
grey280's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 3:56 AM
I’m mostly a fan of the new design (though the ability to reorganize the information tabs would be nice, I don’t care about wind chill but want to check UV index all the time, for example) but the way the app seems to be caching data is very broken. On my Apple Watch, the complication gets stuck sometimes and won’t update for the rest of the day; in the iOS app proper, I’ve had to force quit the app out of memory and reopen it to even get it to show the current time correctly, much less my current location or the actual weather.
Laetitia Caput's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 3:43 AM

Like so many great apps changes are made to enhance but actually take away the original reasons the apps are so great to start with. This is a perfect example. Now you have the basic weather app hard to read and understand at a glance. Half the time it is on the previous day I assume because it takes more data now. Went from stellar to your average poop😊 Great job guys!

Great app, I love the weather notifications especially when rain is about to move in. The app can be off at times, it’s not perfect. I loved the interface until it just recently changed... not a big fan of it. The more monotone look was great, however, the new colors are throwing me off. The ability to swipe between pages was great. Some new features are nice. Time Machine might come in handy someday. The ability to provide feedback about the weather were I am is cool. I would have given it four maybe five stars, but due to the recent visual downgrade, it gets three.

9/4/18 Update: watch complication NEVER updates! Why can’t DarkSky ever get this right? ———————————————— V6.x looks awesome! I’m sure a lot of work has gone into this update. I really like the smooth radar data. The last version of DS would always show clear skies on my watch even though it was raining hard. I hope all the problems have been fixed with DarkSky, because within the last year it has really been useless on a variety of levels. I’m giving it 5 stars based solely on the new UI and because I really trust this company that they are back on top. I’ll update in a week or so. Thanks for the update!!!

billybobjoefr8's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 12:55 PM
I love this app most of time since i installed it several years ago. And on my phone it has always been stellar. But it seems like almost every new update messes with the watch complications, usually necessitating either a reboot and/or a reinstall to get it working again. With this latest update, that’s not even working anymore. And now not only is the complication not pulling data, launching the app on my watch is very spotty: sometimes it launches, and sometimes i just get a blank screen. I know they are probably scrambling to get ready for the new apple watch, but messing with all your loyal users is not cool. The testing is woefully insufficient before an update is released because this is an ongoing issue. I’m really disappointed.
Jean-Christie's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 12:55 AM
Now you get localized weather only if you allow the app to follow you 24/7/365. No Thanks. That’s a deal-breaker for me. The localized feature was the greatest feature of the app in the first place. I knew when it would rain in my exact location in, say, 20 minutes. It was astonishingly accurate most of the time. Also: the new formatting is uninspiring—I do not need that map on top; had no problem finding the dynamic world map before. The most rarely used feature for me. And the “dots” in & out not as easy at a glance as the “bars”, to my eyes. Used to recommend this app; but now use WeatherMate Pro. I’m not the only one complaining—others have given up entirely to delete the app, and thus will never know if future updates improve the app. I’ll hang in there for a while longer, even though I don’t use it anymore. Sadly.

sesp77346's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 11:51 AM
This update made it worse and now it looks like all the rest of the weather apps. Boring. What made this app unique was its simple user interface. With the new update there are more steps and swipes. The location base information is so all over the place. It is like it has a bipolar disorder telling me I’m in one location and next I’m in a another city dealing with snow? Or I live a few blocks away? Really? Wow, this is sad guys or girls. The widget looks bad as well and it is not customizable. Dark mode is needed badly with the new design. For now it should be called “Bright Sky” There is just too much glare. I do like the time machine feature but I stress, “DARK MODE”. Hopefully this will be implemented in future updates.
Justinm82's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 11:49 PM
Nice UI however the app doesn’t update well on the Apple Watch. Seems to be a common issue that needs to be looked into
annmarie_rtsg's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 11:38 PM
New graphics are terrible simplistic and generic. Font size and gradient grey usage makes hourly temps and other info difficult to read Single page scrolling is an unnecessary update and makes differentiating between pages unclear
SarahEB23's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 11:11 PM
I’ve enjoyed dark sky for years. I’m not crazy about the update but I suppose it’s ok. The biggest issue is that it doesn’t update immediately when I open it the app and you guys have taken away pull to refresh. Please at least bring that back and look at speeding up the update or making it obvious the update is coming.
g_chap's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 10:53 AM
The new update to the app is terrible- hard to read, clunky and not at all user friendly. It used to be so simple and straight forward. Also- the radar portion is NEVER accurate. I have to use a completely different app for that. The only redeeming quality now is the morning weather notification.
Fine-aight's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 10:35 AM
Wow. It really changed.
bigtelco's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 10:13 PM
This was my go-to app for weather, but the new user interface is harder to read, and on the iPad the little temperature “balls” on the right side of the screen are almost impossible to match up with the time of day on the left. The old version had a cool dark look to go along with its name. The new version, meh.... still the weather reporting is pretty good once you decipher it.
kgets82's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/5/18 10:08 AM
I LOVED this app for years. A quick glance (all a weather app should take) and I knew what to expect, even in my small hometown. With the new interface, I almost need a manual to understand what I’m looking at. What’s more, it has lost accuracy in a day where weather tech is improving. They over complicated something conveniently simple in the name of modernization. They already have my money from years of use, but I will be looking elsewhere for a more effective weather tool.
the_allen's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 9:28 PM
I already paid for Dark Sky before (a few years ago). I developed problems with with the app on Apple Watch last week. I kept trying to make it work (the display on the watch face said 72 degrees when it was in the 90s). I was going to write a review (actually just bring up the problem to developers). Instead, I was told via iTunes that I didn’t have Dark Sky and had to pay $3.99 for it. So, I have paid for it again but will drop the rating by two stars because I shouldn’t have to pay for the app twice! But the app is useful.
JJ-Unhappy's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 9:27 PM
This update is absolutely horrendous. It is not easy to see information, the interface is terrible. I understand trying to keep the app fresh, but this is a step in the wrong direction.
DarthRadin1138's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 8:44 PM
I like a lot (most) of the new features. The one thing I wish you still had an option for is: displaying the weather of your current location on the widget. It auto-selects the top choice in your list of cities. I’m sure people like that, but can’t we choose current local to be the widget display Please???
Marc Quince's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 8:28 PM
I rarely write reviews but this app is worthy. Amazing interface and accuracy. One that truly recognizes what the users want. Although the radar is not what I would choose, it doesn’t deter thescvhfate forcsst you get. Bravo!
Time Squire-in-Training's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 7:50 PM
DS v6.x — Sadly, now just one star. Devastatingly worse. Not currently recommended. Do NOT update to this version. — We were initially excited and hopeful when our team saw a new version of Dark Sky was available, given the very annoying Location Services nag problem we’ve been suffering through with the app. But after reading through the many horrendous reviews of Dark Sky v6.0, our team decided to delay evaluating v6.x until the v6.0.3 release, and user reviews for it were available. Unfortunately, those reviews are similarly also generally very poor. We now concur with the many details of the justifiably negative reviews. Rather than upgrading any of our team’s devices, someone volunteered an older, personal iOS device to test with. After updating iOS, that device was updated to DS v6.0.3, and directly handed off to one of our team coordinators for initial evaluation. This is someone who needs to frequently monitor and work with the app, surveying remote locations, and occasionally calling other team members’ attention to its readings. She eagerly started looking at it, then froze and became very quiet. She slowly went over to sit by herself in a corner with the device, continuing to look at it. After several minutes, we noticed there were tears on her face. At that moment, another team member came in, also saw that, and asked if she was ok. The coordinator silently handed over the device. Initially baffled, after finally realizing what she was looking at — the new version of Dark Sky — that team member became increasingly vocal, agitated, then hysterical. Another team member came in, and for obvious reasons asked what was going on. Fortunately, he managed to catch the device as it was tossed toward him. His reaction? “This is the new Dark Sky?!” Cursing, he became enraged. I could go on, but that pretty much sums up our whole team’s reaction to DS v6.x. Interestingly, at least one team member admitted they couldn’t figure out why the new version of DS has all these “obnoxious” icons of a big-nosed person wearing a skull cap. It took them a while and a much closer look to see that icon as intended to be an umbrella. That’s pretty indicative of the overall lack of good graphic design applied to DS 6, as well as representing the overall relatively poor design, usability, and functionality of the new version. It’s not a good UX, and the app is materially dysfunctional for our team’s needs. Over the past month of operations, our team has gotten used to having to continually dismiss the annoying Location Services nags every time we open or switch to the DS v5.3.8 app. Now, we have decided to stick with DS v5.3.8 on all our devices as long as possible, or until something more functional is found or becomes available. Unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to have a custom app produced for us. Aug 2, 2018 review: Ack! We manage app updates manually, and study customer reviews before updating. We keep Location Services turned off on all our devices > 97% of the time, and enter our Dark Sky (DS) monitoring locations manually. [We wish DS could be able to (more) easily switch between displaying all data, imagery, and results for remote locations.] We’d hoped to avoid the earlier reported DS Location Services nag issue(s) that other customers experienced, so we delayed updating our devices’ installations of Dark Sky for many, many linear months. Yesterday [edit: now a week ago], we’ve just necessarily updated all our iOS 10.3.3 devices, such as unlocked iPhone 5s models, to the latest version of DS, v5.3.8 (and of most of our other installed apps), in preparation for finally updating to iOS 11 before the impending release of iOS 12. After updating DS, we get the DS Location Services nags every time we open or switch to the DS app or wake devices with DS as the currently active app. Selecting “No, disable notifications instead,” doesn’t alleviate the nag! Changing our device Settings and keeping Location Services always on isn’t an acceptable option for our purposes. We’re heavy users of Dark Skies, because both immediate local and remote local-weather impacts our operational decisions on a fine-grained basis, on time scales of *minutes* to tens of minutes, within local areas and over distances ranging from hundreds of metres, to several klicks, or much more. Different decisions are impacted by different levels of weather intensity in separate specific locations, monitored across different locations simultaneously. DS isn’t as accurate or precise as we’d like, but it’s been very helpful for us. We don’t issue an all-go if DS shows incoming, and decisions to accelerate, standby, delay, or scrub are often based on DS readings and DS fine-grained local forecasts. Due to man-hour / man-minute constraints, sometimes we do fall back on DS notifications (not as reliable) instead of manual monitoring; and the switch to relying on DS notifications and/or temporarily using Location Services must be very rapid on the fly. The constant, brief delays from these DS nags are not only really annoying, they’re materially affecting our pace of weather monitoring, decision-making, and operational execution. We’re a not-for-profit, high-investment, tight-budget, minimal-personnel operation. These Location Services nags are driving us crazy to the point where we went ahead with rapidly updating to iOS 11.4.1 during a pause in operations at around 04:30, risking it without giving it as much additional verification time as we’d normally require. But that hasn’t alleviated the constant Dark Skies Location Services nags we’re encountering. The past 24h has been hellacious. [And the week since then hasn’t been fun with DS, either.] We’ve now downloaded other weather apps, and are still searching for an app solution that will smoothly, effectively, and sufficiently accurately deliver the functionality we need. Help!
djeikyb's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 7:27 AM
obviously a lot of work went into the new version. it’s not bad, just not for me. the old one was minimalist and super functional. gestures and taps were wonderfully integrated. like, when you tap the temp, a modal with more info pops up. before you would have tapped anywhere to go back. now you have to hit a small button at the bottom. and the graphics are more prominent than the info. swiping between screens was a fast way to switch between views. sad that idea is abandoned. would gladly buy a classic version of the app.
M. T. Head's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 7:18 PM
Appreciate the simplicity but the black bars and circles don’t give any indication of relative temperature. So hard to tell temp at a glance. Why not use color continuum- blues for cold through orange for hot.
Eat at Moe's's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 7:09 PM
The new UI is confusing and no longer minimal. I sung praises for Y E A R S that DarkSky was the best weather app hands down and would dare anyone to challenge me. Now, I’m no longer getting weather report notifications like I used to, which to me is one of the biggest issue I’ve noticed, the weather predictions are incorrect, and the app no longer has its charm of being minimal and powerful. Thank you for putting in the hard work to rebuild the app from the ground up, but unfortunately the results are leaving your users in the rain. 😢
roames's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 6:54 PM
I actually like the new look. However, I am more concerned by the slip of accuracy and some glitches. 1) It used to be spot on - when it said rain was starting - it was. Just now, I got a "rain starting" alert, and we were in the midst of a heavy thunderstorm. 2) I have an iPhone X. I have noticed that the app doesn't refresh when I pull it up from the background. I have to close it down and start again to get the current report.
Partsguy123's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 6:51 AM
You have ruined a great app with your changes. It is inaccurate and doesn’t even get my location correct. The precipitation bar is completely wrong. The editors need to remove their endorsement. Sorry folks. I need to move on.

BubbysBub's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 4:01 PM
I can’t believe these changes. Why would a developer “unimprove” an app? The changes are terrible. When you remove what is unique and useful in order to be The Same you just become the Same
AustinRobster's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 3:58 PM
The new graphical interface looks pretty and all, but the app is far more sluggish than before. Please fix the Apple Watch connectivity, this was the most useful part of the app for me, and now it seldom if ever connects to my iPhone - The Dark Sky complication info is blank on every watch face.
Matt Ras's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 3:49 AM
This latest update is more responsive (a pro) but also makes it less intuitive. For example, the precipitation now reports as a single digit number, which I think is “out of ten” and easily converted to a percent - but I’m not entirely sure given the interface. The button says “Precip (%)” but there isn’t enough room for 100 as 6 is fairly close to the edge of the available viewing area.
ncthree's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 3:36 AM
Love Dark Sky and the old user interface. It has been my primary weather tool for years. Hate the new graphics - totally unintuitive.
alliwalk's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 3:31 AM
Off-brand redesign, not easy to view temp. Why does it look like a music scale? I can already tell I will stop telling people about it in glowing, enthusiastic terms: “I use Dark Sky... Actually, it’s just ok. They just updated so it’s not as good... (sigh) It’s kind of pricey”.
Shay650's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 3:10 PM
I loved this app and recommended it to people. Since the new version was released I have started using a different app. This version has numerous defects and is too frustrating to use.
B.G.B. 040811's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 3:05 AM
This went from the best weather app to one of the worst in the latest update. Sorry, but I’m moving on. My go-to weather app. Other weather apps have stated that it will rain in the next hour. Dark Sky told me yesterday that it would start raining in four minutes. My wife and I laughed at that forecast. It didn't start raining in four minutes -- it started in five minutes. Just wow! The only features I'd like to see added are forecasted precipitation totals and month/year-to-date totals.
TCD.LJ's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 2:54 AM
This is the first app that I have deeemd worthy to replace the stock weather app on my phone, but please add a dark mode, sometimes it’s jarring to check the weather when I first wake up because the background is so white and it’s incredibly bright even at my lowest screen brightness setting!
thosbailey's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 2:19 PM
I used to love this app, but they changed it in Aug of 2018 and it has gone from favorite weather app to least favorite. So sad to see the change and hope they will return to better days. The new charting is hard to read and comprehend if you ask me.

This was my favorite, go to app for weather until the new design was introduced. I now use other apps exclusively.
The Psalm's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 1:45 PM
Dark Sky has for years been a great one screen app to show you wether an umbrella is needed in the next half hour or so. Or, if your convertible top should be up or down. One screen gave you instant feedback. The latest version of Dark Sky is just a regular weather app, with page after page of useless information. And, the old at-a-glance answer to the question “will it rain?” Is now buried somewhere within these endless pages. I am sure that technically the app is “better”. But now it is just on more app fir weather. And a lot of apps does that granular deep dive much better. Please. Bring us Classic Dark Sky as a one page app?

MSRD16's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 1:25 AM
I *LOVED* Dark Sky. For years. Loved it. Beautiful and easy to use. Could there have been improvements, sure. But this new upgrade (Version 6) is beyond terrible. The usability is wonky and the graphics are not just worse, but look like some crappy free app. It looks like it came out five years ago. It’s a total shame. I’ve gone back to using my iPhone’s default weather app.
mtfbwy1968's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 1:18 PM
Everyone in my family who uses Dark Sky agrees that the new UI is really lacking. Like so many other modern, iOS apps there seems to be more form over function. The data is there but the old UI made it easier to see more info at a glance.
Maggie4310's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 1:15 PM
The last change makes it hard to read, but even worse, it’s not accurate. Plus it opens up with weather somewhere else and I have to put my location in. Very disappointing.
Duldras's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 1:07 PM
They took a risk and redesigned the interface. In my opinion, it’s a swing and a miss. It’s hard to read, overly complicated. I also no longer have the Apple Watch complication.
Deadweights's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 1:05 PM
What the hell is up with this new update? I hate this look. Bring back the original look. This new look is so plain & boring. I'm using it less because I hate the new look. What were you guys thinking? This app was 5 stars but it's a 3 now.
goose0673's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 12:59 AM
This used to be a five star app. The redesign is OK. It kind of makes it look like any other weather app. I miss the wind prediction. We like to sail and used that frequently. I also miss the clear detail for precipitation in the area plus chance of precipitation in the next hour. The ‘feels like’ temp prediction is a nice feature, but I don’t see why other features were removed.
Hepoom's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 12:54 AM
I have loved and continue to love the functionality of this app. I have found it to be the most accurate of the many weather apps I have tried out. However, after using it throughout the day for a couple weeks (or however long it’s been out), the new update kinda stinks. I find it hard to believe that the company did any user testing on it. It’s very difficult to orient yourself within the forecast on the main screen. It shows next 24 hours but then shows the next 7 days, which may include part of or the full forecast from the day you’re currently experiencing, depending on time of day. It’s not intuitive. Most importantly, it’s also more difficult to see what I care about most at different times throughout a given day, i.e. temp and precipitation chance. Instead of having these two together like the old app, you now have to scroll down past the first screen and select between the exclusive options of temp, “feels like” and precipitation chance. But by scrolling down that far, you now can’t see what day you’re on, and you then have to scroll back up to see current data and what’s coming up in the next few hours. And then you have to do this scrolling again for each metric you want to look at. And as discussed above, determining what day it’s showing is confusing in the first place, and even harder to intuitively grasp when you’re repeatedly scrolling up and down the app to get your basic info. It would be relatively simple to fix these annoying issues in the design if not the code. Please do it! You could just make the transition from 24 hour forecast to 7-day forecast smoother, and combine again the forecast for temp and precipitation chance. Bada boom, back to a 5 star app!! Good luck

The new interface is minimalistic and boring. While it does load fast, it isn’t as accurate as other apps. If you go to forecastadvisor.com you’ll see that it routinely comes in 5th place out of the most common weather services out there.
Lee PA 027's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 11:41 AM
Until this latest release, Dark Sky was my go-to weather app, even though the hourly forecasts were frustratingly imprecise. However, I dislike the new interface and functionality so much that I have removed the app from my home screen and am now exploring other weather apps, like AccuWeather. I especially miss the option to view the humidity level.
raybancharles's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 11:30 AM
This app used to be specifically good at allowing the user to easily see if it was going to rain at a certain time. Now that has been replaced with confusing tiny numbers for every hour that are heavy cognitive overload. The redesign makes the main portion so busy that the user has to scroll to view things like humidity that were previously easily fit on the screen. For these reasons using this app is an unpleasant experience. I plan on switching to something else. This is disappointing because I’ve suggested this app to so many people.
Jospal217's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 11:27 AM
The good: Having the current weather, map snapshot and weekly overview in one screen is great. The bad: New weather icons not good and unnecessary. The app was much more elegant before. Has a cheap look to it now. Overall, still a very good forecasting app.
tvk's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 11:12 PM

I bought this app a while back because it was simple, beautiful, and accurate. Since this last update it’s become ugly, confusing, and the inaccurate. I’m hoping they’ll release a fix soon for how inaccurate it is and maybe go back to how beautiful it was before the update.
MoMoK6's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/4/18 10:46 AM
Before the redesign this app was wonderful. Precipitation by the hour has percentages, now there’s a number scale? Humidity percentages by the hour are gone as well which is completely baffling. Everything useful has been stripped away in some capacity for the sake of minimalism. It’s a weather app— where’s the information you need??
Mr. Informed's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/30/18 9:48 PM
I have been using this app for two years now and I have found it to be highly accurate. I have recommended it to three individuals, and they in turn have purchased it and are now loyal fans. The first time I used it I was at a family outing in Atlanta, GA and the app indicated that a heavy downpour was imminent. Sure enough, at exactly the time stated on the app, the downpour occurred. Great app!

Kemas's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/30/18 2:43 AM
I’ve been using this app for a long time, but this recent overhaul is a massive step backwards in design. One of the things I like most about iPhone apps are their inspired design mixed with practical ease of use. This update sacrificed the former entirely for the latter and it’s a failure IMHO. The original design was stunning and easily useful. There isn’t anything stunning about this design short of it stunningly looking like a knock off app. I don’t understand the backward design of this update; while I’m sure there was a good reason it’s lost me as a regular user.
#KillerBee7#'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/30/18 2:23 PM
I've been using Dark Sky for years and it was a reliable source of weather info, especially with the precipitation forecasts and notifications. Unfortunately, after this last update, it is no longer a consistent source of data. The weather alerts are outdated and expired, the current conditions for my location are nearly always wrong (showing rain when it's sunny or vice versa), and the forecast is vastly different from other sources. I'll be uninstalling it today because I need a weather app that actually works.
jennatar's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/30/18 1:51 PM
This sounds weird, but Dark Sky is unbeatable when it comes to notifications. On a recent trip to Vienna during its temperamental Rainy Season, this app always gave me enough advance warning to grab an umbrella—which is really saying something. It'll never leave you "high and not-dry," especially when you're traveling. It's also great at anticipating other types of inclement weather, and it can even tell you when the UV index is going to be high (pack your sunscreen!). This isn't an app I regularly "check"—I actually use Weather Nerd for planning my week—but Dark Sky pays for itself over and over. Use it to supplement your notifications, and you'll never be caught in the rain again. ☔️

I fell in love with this app a several months back! One of the reasons being was due to the beautiful minimalistic yet informative interface. The last few updates have changed that. It looks and feels like every other weather app out there... boring! On top of that, the developer is taking their time with integrating the new APIs for the new watch faces available on the Apple Watch series 4. Downloading carrot weather in 3, 2, 1...

Dark sky’s was my daily go to app to check the weather. The big. high contrast display made it easy for these aging eyes to view. Now it has become another app with small hard to read font, lost the humidity display and lost it’s uniqueness that made it stand out. I now have to bring my phone inched from my face to read it. Why developers feel they have to change their apps winning look is beyond me. Bring back the original look and I’ll give it 5 stars, but till then I’m not even sure it deserves the 2 I’ve given it.

As many others have said, I am not a fan of the new look of dark sky. It has taken it from a simple, easy to navigate app to something that looks just like every other app and is difficult to figure out. There are a couple nice new features but I would gladly go back a version to the old look. I find myself using this app less and less since the "upgrade"

The app was great before, now it takes forever to refresh and i have to keep closing and opening the app to make sure i have the current forecast. It doesn't refresh like it used to. And it doesn't work for my apple watch! The old app was better.
Theluker69's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 8:58 PM
Unusable rain prediction. It’ll say 3% chance of rain when it’s currently raining or another source says 80+
Catie9's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 8:52 PM
I really liked with the previous UI the ability to sort by precip and temp, but especially humidity. The feels-like feature isn’t nearly as useful as humidity. Feels-like does not feel the same to everyone so can be misleading. This is the same thing as “wind-chill” weather reporting. Update: I found that humidity and a bunch of other options are to the right if you slide through the red options in the middle. 😅
Art Garza's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 8:10 PM
I loved the app prior to the most recent update. It’s difficult to read and the Apple Watch widget isn’t displaying properly nor pulling up when the app is selected.

Very nice and I’d like to suggest that you put the temperature degree in the App Badge Icon. This way we can look at the App badge and at a glance see the current temperature. Thank you

Like many others said - my favorite app became a potential one to now delete. I prefer the old, easy on the eyes version. I thought this new change would grow on me... but it’s not. I hate it. Will change to 5 stars if we can get the classic look back as an option. It was perfect before!

This was my favorite weather app. But this latest update is very slow to update. Once I open the app, it takes about 20 seconds to find my location for local weather. I don’t remember waiting more than 2-3 seconds before the update.

Love the Time Machine feature. Also am glad the precipitation graph/ timeline appears when precipitation is expected. Also like to arrows that appear on the radar preview. Would be nice if they were available on the full radar. Also would love a layer of lightning stiles on the radar.

This used to be such a graphically beautiful app. Now it’s downright ugly. It works fine - but is now like any other weather app.

I’m so sad with what you did to my favorite weather app but hay I’m actually considering switching back to the redesigned Weather Channel app. Basic things like opening the app and show the current weather, not the last from last night are a nightmare. I know new versions have bugs. But this is not a good quality level and those icons are a joke. What’s wrong with that umbrella??? Please find a balance between previous version and this sad melted ice cream app
85ZingoGTR's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 4:18 PM
I decided to try out the app after reading many reviews and raves about it. I even like the concept of how daily forecasts are given as hourly breakdowns instead of a written summary. The radar is unique and fluid. But one big dealbreaker for me is the fact that notifications won’t work unless I put the app settings to Always use location services. This shouldn’t have to be the case when my Weather Channel, Weather Underground, and Accuweather apps send me weather notifications without keeping the location service settings at “Only While Using”.
Me5967's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 4:16 PM
The update a few days ago was described as “A complete overhaul”. It was and I hate it now. There was nothing wrong with it and I found it very useful. Now, I’m looking for a different weather app so I can delete this one.
mkjzna's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 4:14 PM
Loved the app, hated the drab interface. Stopped using it for My Radar Pro. But, now I will go back to it for the info and interface changes. Hope more are forthcoming. Easy to use. Humidity, wind speed and more readily accessible from the main screen. Love the addition of color. Fantastic changes.
RI weather sufferer's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 3:41 PM
I bought this app only because it was showing the “feels like” temperature as the main, both in the iPhone widgets and on the Watch. It no longer does that after the last major update and I can’t say how disappointed I am. I liked all the other features of the update but the loss of “feels like” is enough for me to look elsewhere. Dark Sky just became one more of a myriad of other weather apps which you can’t tell one from the other. Very sad.
MusicMac's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 3:36 PM
I’ve been using Dark Sky for quite a few years. I believe since near its first release. I typically cross reference Dark Sky by running Apple’s weather along with Yahoo’s weather to ensure an accurate forecast. Dark Sky ALWAYS out does them both. Dark Sky is consistently more accurate of either what current weather is, or what the weather was that day, so it makes sense that you trust it’s forecast. Now with their newest update (at the time of this review) Dark Sky is even more fluid and easier to navigate. What is consistent accuracy worth to your weather knowledge needs? KUDOS to the Dev’s of Dark Sky.
VeryCoolJohn's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 3:24 PM
I am new to this app, so I can’t comment on changes from previous versions. I find the information useful, but IMHO putting small white numbers into small black dots was a bad choice. There must be some other way to present the information to make it more readable.
cooh0891's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 3:20 AM
I've loved this app for years, highly recommended it to others. I hate, HATE, hate the recently updated user interface. So frustrating and useless in comparison to the formerly wonderful experience. Not just less, but absolutely counter intuitive.
weezer9's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 3:14 PM
Dark Sky changed the game with their original app and I would pull down “classic mode” if there was one. Poor use of screen space at the top shows me a map of three states as though I didn’t know where I was (it’s for radar but is often useless). Endless scrolling and unintuitive clicking to get data that was a quick and easy swipe away follows. Note that the app icon no longer even looks like the new app, brand:gone. It was called dark sky before presumably for a reason. The new one is oatmeal sky. Gone from best in class to a big bag of meh due to poor user interface. Looking for a new weather app.
eDubE24's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 3:01 PM
I loved this app for years. When the new update came out it hasn’t functioned as well as it did in the past. No longer does it sync accurately to my watch it also stays on the location of the last place I opened the app. No more up to the minute weather updates of rain or storms at my location. I checked my location settings on my phone and they are on. Not sure what got broken, but I hope reviews like this help the developer fix the problems.
stardust_savant's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 2:32 PM
Y’all. This new update is awful. Hard to read with all the glaring white and not intuitive. The previous versions were great and easy to use, no need to fix what wasn’t broken. Change it back, please.
SteveSwish's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 2:25 AM
The thing I relied on this app so heavily for, minute by minute rain estimate and chart is now inaccessible. I’ve only seen it display once since the update and it was already raining. Officially deleting this app. so sad when people want to change something unbroken

My very favorite #1 app for the past 6 years. I hugely applaud the attempt to update but I very much miss the Precipitation Forecast. Fair initial try. I wish you the absolute best in making this now troubled app the superb app it once was. Hopefully we can all be patient during this process.
svoight1234's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 2:15 PM
So disappointed in the new look. So hard to read, so much smaller now. The old version was much more appealing and so much easier to figure out. Don’t like the new look at all. Searching now for a. Ew App.
getrusty's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 2:10 PM
I have given this a little time to dig in and see if there was something I was missing on a set up level or why the rates were so high and the app not delivering for me. I don’t have an answer other than Dark Sky is not all it’s cracked up to be. I use about 10 other weather apps and dark sky is on the bottom of the list. I honestly purchased this due to it being featured by Apple in the top 5 apps. So not only am I disappointed with dark sky disappointed that Apple would even recommend this. I hate the maps to start out. Looks nice but not the precision I was thinking I would get based on the description in the store. The radar look of precipitation movement is poor at best when you get under the surface. The interface for that you can control detail like current condition, UV, precip, news, observations, etc is bad. Where can I delete have the junk they have. I don’t care about the video feeds and news and that sort of information. I want what I want. After all I paid for this thing... let me get what I want. I also don’t like at the top of this section such a large amount of screen space is allocated for current conditions. For being called Dark Sky ... the app is to while and light greys. Visually stepping in ... looks good from afar. But in night conditions or while I’m going through tornados since I am not being shown storm rotations, hail and all that it’s way to bright. In summary save the money ... it’s not worth it. As for dark sky... seriously disappointed. 👎
Sleepygirl1's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 2:04 AM
The latest update is crappier than I first thought. Besides the lackluster graphics and removal of humidity information, the “next 24 hours” forecast line doesn’t match the “next 7 days” forecast for the same day. On Sunday, Sept 2 the 24 hour forecast said high 84 low 58 while the 7 day forecast said high 72 low 47. What the heck? So sad to see this app take a swan dive. It was my go to, but not anymore. Reporting and accuracy is shot and graphics basically stink!
PrimeAllyn's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 2:03 PM
I had been using DarkSky for years enjoying not only how accurate it was, but also how beautiful and how eAsy it was to use, seeing all the most important info at a glance and more with a quick swipe if necessary. Unfortunately, this new version broke the app, rendering ot impossible for those of us who are older and need larger font with good contrast to read. Just to be able to read the temp, i have to scroll to the bottom of the app and look at the 10 day forecast. Gone is the ability to read the humidity, wind chill, or indeed, any other information. I don’t want to have to put on my reading glasses just to check the daily forecast! To add insult to injury, the interface is hideous. Why take something elegant, beautiful, and useful and do this to it? Please offer an option for returning to the ‘Classic’ interface. For mow, i have had to switch to using Weather instead. At least i can clearly read the forecast on that one and it is not bad looking.

This has been my “go to” weather app for awhile, but the latest update is clunky & difficult. It is harder to find the up-to-the-minute forecast. I dislike the layout of the opening screen.
Tatsu24's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 1:01 AM
It’s just awful now. It looks like some high school junior’s mobile app class final project. They took all of the best parts about Dark Sky (including the DARK) part, and scrapped them. I regret recommending this app to so many people.
Mountain yogi's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 12:38 PM
I love this app for accuracy and comprehensive prediction. The visuals on the map for temperature are fantastic. I spend a lot of time in the outdoors and rely heavily on weather apps. The recent update is very disappointing. I much preferred having separate pages for map, daily and see forecast. Scrolling down to see different aspects of the forecast/weather is clunky. The circles for predicted temperature, humidity etc are really small and hard to read. Better contrast with color may help. I had recommended this app based on the previous version and now sorry I did. Those who purchased it are not happy either. As a suggestion- I would love to have more favorites and the ability to have a high level summary of weather in locations that I track frequently and regularly. For now I am off in search of a new app. I hope you can win me back.

Madbugger's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 11:52 AM
This WAS the best weather app out there. But this update is horrible. While there may be some cool new features added for weather geeks, taking away the blue graphics that displayed rainfall over the next hour as heavy-light-drizzle or even the “rain starting in your location in 10 minutes” message was what made me love this app. That’s gone. This morning it was absolutely pouring buckets of rain and I couldn’t tell it was raining or not looking at the app. Thank goodness I can still look out windows and see what the weather’s like!
Signup should be banned's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 11:51 PM
I can no longer see the smaller temperatures in the black circles without my glasses on. It’s nice to have everything all there but if it were a little bigger I’d give you 5 stars. It’s still a great app and deserves to be at number one.

RImUser's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 11:22 PM
I ‘think’ I like the update. I see the potential but feels like the training wheels are on it. For example why do I see BLUE as in rain in 6 min but no blue on the vertical side bar. Are they not two view of the same precipitation?
cjanse's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 11:17 PM
I really hate the look of the screen now after the latest update. It is not as accurate either. It is raining right now and my app tells me no rain for the hour. I don’t need the map on the main screen. It is so high level it does not tell much, just looks like pink and blue swirls. Go back to the main screen just showing the rain meter only. Not happy!😥
JPerkinski's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 10:53 AM
I just switched to using Dark Sky now that The Weather Channel app is so bad. This is a great app but would you consider a dark mode option that is easier on the eyes?
JeffDC47's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 10:49 PM
Still frustrated. When I open the app, it shows me the forecast from 8 hours ago. It fails to refresh without a force quit. The new overview/interface gives me less information at a glance than the old version. Really disappointed. I wish there was a way to opt out of updates. I liked this app before the update but now I feel annoyed every time I open it.
wittsend bhairavi's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 10:43 AM
New interface has good ideas but everything seems smaller and harder to read. No options for making fonts larger.
romanmel7's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/3/18 10:09 PM
Love this app, but with new update and interface, the app does not”instantly” show me my weather status anymore. It opens to the location and weather conditions that were current the last time I opened the app. Hopefully this is just a bug that will be corrected soon and not the result of the seemingly bloated new interface. Yes it’s more informative than the original simple interface, but that interface was what I loved about the app: what’s the temperature and how soon is it going to rain on ME, not the county. Hopefully, this gets fixed.
designsmith11's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/29/18 7:53 PM
The previous version’s design was strikingly minimal and beautiful—a real landmark in user interface. This new version (6.0) is simply a missed opportunity with lackluster and generic design—a very disappointing update without the design sensibility and attention to detail. I would downgrade if I could, but now I will just look elsewhere for a better designed app.
Dawnd789's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/29/18 6:59 AM
The new UI is terrible. It is difficult to read. What used to take a glance to understand now needs to be studied to be understood. And where is the wind? It’s been removed! This app is no longer worth the money. If you are thinking of purchasing, don’t bother. I’ve gone back to using the iPhone weather app which is easier to see in a quick scroll what the weather will be. It has all the same weather information except for the immediate next one hour rain forecast.
MAR97201's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/29/18 4:53 PM
I’ve been using this app for years for quick guidance on the likelihood of rain for my “current location” here in the PNW. Unfortunately the new update seems to default to NYC even with “current location” turned on as my default setting. Yes, I can go deeper into the app to pull my “current location” each time, but that’s the problem- it’s no longer quick and easy. I’ve started relying on AccuWeather instead.
Double Docs's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/29/18 1:51 PM
It’s not always connecting the first time and I now have to scroll down and find my glasses to see today’s weather & today’s high. In the old display that key data was on the home screen! The hyperlocal data and alerts are still great.
K-Clubs's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/29/18 1:29 PM
I agree with some other reviews that the app was great for several years but new update bright too many information to look at all in one screen that takes away the simplistic approach that original app had. My suggestion is to make the menus and screens at least customizable so things that don’t matter much to an individual to be turned off and removed from the view or maybe possibility of re arranging the views and options.

This app is touted as ‘most accurate weather app’, but who cares if yu can’t read the info? The temp at the top of the screen is legible but i have to get a magnifying glass out to see whatever is written in those tiny bubbles. This is also the ugliest app i have seen on top of being useless! I switched back to a free app and can now actually read the weather, chance of rain, humidity, etc. How do i get a refund?

being this app is called “Dark Sky” there is no Dark theme, you only get a white background. All-in-all it works great. Update: I would love to be able to get weather notifications without having to have my location service enabled. I know it doesn’t hurt to have it enabled. Some even claim it drains your battery which really isn’t true. I however just don’t care to have it alway enabled, it just bugs me.

This app used to be spot on with its up to the minute data. Now it’s confusing and never gives me ANY info. I can look outside and it raining cats and dogs and I look at the app and it says NOTHING. I’m about to trash the whole thing.
Nato510's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/28/18 12:58 AM
I don’t understand the high ratings. Half the time when I open the app the location defaults to New York. I live in California. I had location enabled so this doesn’t make sense. This app also lacks lacks important information like air pollution and pollen count. Even the stick weather app in iOS includes a warning if the AQI is above 50. No information on the pollen count either. Additionally, ALL notifications, including a daily morning forecast, won’t happen unless the user enables sharing location data ALWAYS. I wake up in my home nearly everyday, there is no need for my location data to be constantly shared for a morning forecast. Finally, through the visuals have a clean and simple look, it’s more plain than it is elegant, and lacks intuitive navigation to other sources of data. Not worth the money for the lacks of features over the stock weather app.
Btar's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/28/18 12:44 PM
I would like there to be a way to see both hour-by-hour temperature AND chance of rain, at the same time, without having to scroll down then click a link. The old design had that.
Brajs's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/28/18 12:23 AM
Dark Sky used to be an app that I would show off to my family and friends because it was so cool and useful! Yeah, getting excited about a weather app! Imagine that. This new version I hate so much that I’m tempted to delete the app. It’s constantly making me refresh just to not show a city that I don’t even have saved. It’s harder to get to the information that I used to get to. And the whole interface just looks worse. Something needs to be fixed, because it’s such a shame now.
Neilmj's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/28/18 12:08 PM
Dark Sky is a good app but one thing about the redesign is annoying -- the visual representations of the numbers next to the days/time. For instance, if most of the day has 0% chance of rain, but 1 PM has a 2%, that number bubble will be all the way at the end of the scale, and it looks like there's 100% chance. It's very visually unintuitive.
De Clieu's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/28/18 11:58 AM
Should have read the recent reviews of the major change. I always heard of Dark Sky since it first came out, but just didn’t feel the need to pay $3.99 for a weather app when other free apps does just enough. Fast forward many years, simply out of curiosity, one day I randomly download the app to see what everyone has been raving about. Major disappointment came soon after. I just paid $3.99 for a weather app that doesn’t do much more than those I already had. The widget is actually worse. What’s with those glaring empty space that’s wasted? And you need to expand to even see the next hour prediction/forecast. Easily all of the info could have fit even without expanding. Boy was this a major let down. At least those who have been loyal to the app for a while got to enjoy the the supposed informative uniqueness of the app until the update. I just waited all along for nothing only to pay $3.99 for an app that’s barely better than what you get for free.
MykeBates's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/28/18 11:24 PM
Not a yuge fan of the new updates. I’ve been spending time with the new design and it’s alright at best. The old version was far easier to scan quickly. Aside from the UI updates the thing that is bothering me the most is the fact that the location keeps resetting to New York City. Several times I have even missed that that was the location and jumped straight to setting plans based on weather I thought was for my location. If the location bug was fixed I’d rate 4/5. Prior to these updates I’d have rated 5/5.
.Dan79.'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/28/18 11:06 PM
Love the app but the Apple Watch complication and the watch app itself don’t work. Complication appears for a second when I add it (always the same display of 72° and cloudy) and then disappears leaving an empty space. The app launches but shows a blank watch face. I’ve deleted and reinstalled both the watch app and the iPhone app. If this watch issue is fixed, I’ll give it 5 stars.

Lon731's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 9:44 AM
This app was one of my favorite and most used until the big update. I find the new interface extremely hard to use. The weather reports are inaccurate. Very disappointing update. I wish there were a way to revert back to the old version. I will no be using this app much longer at this rate.
ChrispyT2's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 9:36 PM
It’s not bad but I liked the previous version. Less white would be nice. Offer a dark theme for the app. I would also love to see Siri shortcuts integrated with this app!
MikeyA312's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 9:33 AM
Gotta give the latest updates a thumbs down. It used to be on the money accurate. I now find my self looking into other apps. For starters I have to refresh the app every time I open it. The app has taken a step back.
5undance's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 8:31 AM
The new interface is horrible compared to the previous interface. Why would you ruin a perfectly good interface
TommyBoyChicago's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 7:55 PM
This app was such a great example of merging design and functionality perfectly. It was visually beautiful in a way none of the other weather apps were. Now, it’s average at best. I hate the new design and functionally it hangs a lot. For example most of the time when I open the app the data screen is empty and needs to be reloaded. Clearly somebody at the company was just trying to put their thumbprint on the project and decided to totally trash it. It’s too bad.
Clark Gris's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 7:26 PM
Dark sky has been great to track temperature, but is not effective for precipitation. I could cite several examples but for today it has listed a 10% chance of precipitation in my area, never forecasting rain and as I sit here it says it’s not raining as I watch drops fall with a large pink cloud over my town on the radar. It doesn’t make any sense.
neimato1's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 6:26 PM
Hopefully they fix this issue soon. The Watch complication hasn't worked for the last few weeks .
Chrisstpaul's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 3:08 AM
The watch application has all sorts of information. Calling the app from a watch face is difficult because temperature number disappears . Annoying bug.
Tazymomo's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 2:43 AM
Seriously, was anyone complaining about the UI before? It looked unique and easily understood before and now looks super drab and not very sensible. It looks like the kind of thing that someone who is selling an inconvenient product would try and argue is a feature. Would love a way to revert to the previous 5 star worthy version.
spmj1974's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 2:32 AM
I have loved Dark Sky since I first had it. Before the change!!! Bought it for family and friends!! The new version is not user friendly. It might be for a science weatherman but not for us regular folks. Please bring back the original version!!!! Argh.
BogOff!'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 2:25 PM
I bought this for local weather in the US, and it is very accurate. I love that it will tell me “Light rain starting in 15 minutes” as opposed to me having to guesstimate from a radar scan. I have a family member currently in South Africa, and they are using it as well!
mapis6523's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 1:45 AM
Why change what works? Just adding the new features would’ve been enough! Looking for a new app if you don’t go back soon.
Bobby frown face's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 1:11 PM
This new version is a few steps backwards. The previous versions were informative at a glance, easy to read and use. Why did they feel a need to screw up the best weather app? Maybe it is me but I can’t find the humidity.
K2Kevin's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 12:35 PM
When your 65 yr. old mother, 35 yr old wife and your 13 yr old son all hate the dark sky updated UI, you know there’s a problem. I had to enable zoom feature on iPhone to read the weather dot numbers. Miss the previous UI and how pro it looked, but I guess making it look nice for kindergarteners is just a business decision. After all those little kindergarteners and millennials like things familiar, so Dark sky looks like every other weather app now. Still love you guys for all the work, just miss the pro UI. Huge step in the wrong direction, we are all switching to something else after all these years, dark sky will be missed.
Gotham Peter's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 12:05 PM
So disappointed in the new user interface. Don’t update
Timeband's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 11:19 AM
This WAS a great weather app providing a forecast of when on the hour precipitation may occur. With the update that has disappeared. Gone is the unique value of this app and it joins the ranks of a common weather app and in that regard it’s less than average.
MichaelMJ's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/27/18 11:07 AM
With the redesign, the app now loads faster, but defaults to giving me New York weather. The pull to refresh helped, but loading based on last location would be more helpful.
GarrickAnson's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 9:41 PM
Dark Skies was hands down the best weather app for iOS, up until the redesign. I gave it a few weeks, but just can’t adjust to the changes. It is much harder to read in comparison to the original layout, and now it is just as (if not more) cluttered as every other crappy fly by night weather app in the App Store. Their API (the former forecast.io) is still excellent, but I would give anything to go back to the original simpler UI. I haven’t found a good replacement yet, so for now I have gone back to the Apple Weather app until a suitable replacement shows itself.
aaroneleazar's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 9:00 PM

T. Ten Rub's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 8:43 AM
Before the update, every time I opened the app it knew my location. After the update, every time I open the app it thinks I’m in New York City. I haven’t changed any location settings. Please fix this!! I shouldn’t have to set my location every time I open the app.
CrossMeOut1611's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 7:38 AM
I’ve been using version 6.0 since it’s release and I prefer the old version. What was a 5 star app for me is now a 3. The precipitation graph now only appears if precipitation is in the area. I personally prefer to have it on all the time as I find it to be the best feature of the app. The location is now very slow to update and most of the time I have to manually refresh the location. Often times I get an error message indicating the location can’t be found. Also the UV index is now unavailable unless you schedule it to be sent to you as a separate report. Really disappointed that an “upgrade” has seemingly set this app backwards. Hoping future updates will resolve the issues.
joshsandaker's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 6:22 AM
I loved Dark Sky. It was one of the first apps that was recommended after I got my iPhone. It was five star worthy. It’s always been great and easy to use, you could swipe left or right to access different menus (such as multi day forecast, daily forecast, humidity, predication). Now it’s far less user friendly, and is completely bland. It looks worse than most standard weather apps. Unless they pull it back I’m going to have to find a different weather app.
Emerican 's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 5:58 PM
Before this last update (with the design change) this was my favorite weather app. Now the app always thinks I’m somewhere else and never actually uses my current location. The changing of the simple and cool design has me now looking for another weather app as well.
Shadowbottle's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 5:37 AM
It just says Dark Skies now. When I switch to the dock it flashes “72° Overcast” (every time, very wrong) for a moment but otherwise is broken. Also the redesign lacks the soul of the original. It’s ok, but... feels plain. Vanilla. Mayonnaise. Meh. Icons are nice but ehhh
Sean71's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 5:10 PM
I had such high hopes for this app when I read all of the phrase it gets across the Internet. But, boy, was I disappointed. It is atrocious with Apple Watch. It doesn’t update, it just goes blank, you have to reset your watch and your iPhone over and over and over again to get it to work. The iPhone app it’s self is pretty nice but it’s hardly worth four dollars. Which, by the way, would be nice if you refund me. Yeah, I know, that would be as hard to believe as all of the nonsense on the Internet about your app. Buyer beware, you can get a crappy weather app for free. I’ve tried them all and the only one that is actually accurate and updates on time is the one that comes with the iPhone in the first place.

Don't want notifications's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 4:12 PM
I finally decided to actually buy this app. The next day it updated and totally changed. The design is clunky and unreadable. There isn't enough contrast to view weather for the day or even the hour at a glance. When I try to turn notifications on it tells me it needs permission when permission has already been granted. All in all I don't use it, 3.99 isnt much money but I'm upset I wasted it on this app.
Asif Siddiqi's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 4:01 PM
This app is now more of a reminder of it’s glory days. Though lot of glam has been recently added but it now lacks the core functionality. Weather predictions are all over the place, widget is mostly showing errors. Notifications are worst, giving me a notification when it’s already raining is really helpful!
Nandanmv's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 3:54 PM
Multiple times where the app did not forecast rain and it has rained heavily. Other apps like Accurate weather forecast better. Otherwise like the app interface and complications. No use if not reliable though. I am in Dallas, Texas area.
Btar's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 3:29 AM
I would like there to be a way to see both hour-by-hour temperature and chance of rain without having to click a link. The old design had that.
srhearrell's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 3:08 AM
I love the app, but for some reason, it consistently gives me weather for Yonkers, NY. Not sure why, but it’s been doing this since the design overhaul. Still a wonderful app, since as soon as I refresh the main screen it grabs my exact location.
smd2200's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 2:59 PM
I used to recommend Dark Sky to people as the only weather app, and one of the few apps in general, worth buying. Unfortunately, the new update eliminates a lot of what was good about the app, at least in the way I used it. Tracking precipitation is no longer easy or convenient, and the overall look is confusing. I can’t currently recommend the app, but hopefully that will change again in the future.
PoohOnAlphaCentari's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 2:53 AM
This was a useful single purpose app that now does a bunch of things, some not so well, taking longer and/or less accurately. This reminds me of iOS 12.
KTPett's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 2:42 PM
This app has gone down hill quickly. It no longer recognizes where I am. It assumes NYC but I am on the west coast. The long term accuracy has never been its strong suit but no even the 1 hour forecast is spotty.

I used to rave about dark sky, but after the big update I can’t stand it. I gave it a couple weeks hoping I just wasn’t used to the change but it’s not accurate anymore. I also miss the old layout
Badopinion's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 12:40 PM
I bought dark sky for $9.99 some time ago and have been very happy with its no bologna interface and it’s simple and dark themed layout. Now it’s this light colored, bubbly weather channel looking thing with icons that my 4 year can understand. Not happy, I wish they’d never changed a thing about it. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
af reviewer's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 12:38 PM
i use dark sky religiously and ever since the latest update it is incredibly unreliable and the interface is not good. the forecast for precipitation is cumulative of the %chance per hour instead of an average so it looks like it will rain when it won’t and won’t when it will. got caught in the rain this morning because of looking at the forecast and not seeing any rain! fix it asap or i will delete the app.
darrevan's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 11:23 PM
This app hasn’t worked on my Apple Watch in months. It only shows dashes. I reset my watch and it works until I do ANYTHING else then it’s back to only dashes. I wanted this to be a great as described but not until this gets fixed.

BQota's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/26/18 10:15 PM
This was much better before the UI overhaul. It is also not nearly as accurate as it used to be. The Apple Watch complication just doesn’t work anymore and you can’t see the temperature and chance of rain. I want the old app back.
HALFGN1234's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 9:40 PM
The new update is confusing. For instance take today. In the next 24 hour forecast it is going to rain here at 5pm. But when I look at the precip for Tuesday which is what today is there is only a 30% chance at 6pm. It should match. That makes no sense. And why is precip only every 2 hours? I used to use this app all the time. Now Dark Sky isn’t accurate. Nor is it dark.
wosnage's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 9:26 PM
This app was solid when I had it installed on an iPhone 6. The new version that appears on Newer models doesn’t show CRUCIAL forecast data, like wind speeds or humidity. Why pay for an app that gives you less than the free competition? And the time machine feature? Cool - but I don’t need to see what yesterday weather was like.
#thisnicknameshitsucks's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 8:17 PM
I purchased the app months ago and am given a radar down notification so I can not use that feature. I contacted support and sent screenshots and the all of a sudden no reply. A couple months later I try again, no radar, it’s down. I contact support again and they say the problem will fix itself on a few days. It’s been a few months I reply with screenshots of the previous correspondence. Guess what... they stop replying!!! HORRIBLE APP. EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
deer1000's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 8:16 PM
Don’t buy this app. With the newest update, which completely changed the app, they no longer give you ACCURATE information on an hourly basis. For example, the radar shows a band of rain coming this way , the words say “rain in the morning”, ( even though it looks much closer) , Other apps are warning of sever weather coming, but on this app none of the hourly reports for the next 24 hours show rain.
Rocky McGee's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 7:43 PM
I drive a motorcycle as my main source of transportation. This app is an excellent resource that I use on a daily basis to dodge weather and better prepare myself for the day. It has not lead me wrong since I started using it - nearly a year ago.

Pylesdriver's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 7:15 PM
I love the interface and the accuracy of the app, however it seems to have frequent issues with updating on the Apple Watch face. I have Dark Sky set as a complication on one of my watch faces, however it doesn’t show the weather. Instead it shows dashed lines. Tried closing the app and reopening on both my iPhone XS and Series 3 Apple Watch (WiFi + GPS) to no avail.
Tomcat2011's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 5:00 PM
I’ll keep this short. New design is terrible; now it looks just like any other mediocre weather app. The widget doesn’t appear the majority of the time.

What? Is this a gag? Your update is the biggest UX gaf I’ve ever seen. You have taken one of the best most useful apps ever created and turned it into the worst. You can’t even read the font size. You should fire your head of UX. And the person who hired them. Please fix.

hjw65's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 3:06 PM
The folks at dark sky touted the new single page format of the app but ignore the fact that users each have their own needs regarding what information is most important to them. The redesigned app necessitates more scrolling for me to get to the information that I am interested in. Additionally, the choice to put the hourly temperatures zigzagging horizontally in an attempt to “helpfully” mimic a bar graph is simply visually taxing. Charts graphing temperature over time conventionally put time across the bottom and temperature varying in height. The vast majority of the public expects that format. Switching the direction around and additionally scattering the actual data (temperature in degrees) by putting it at the variable end of the bar makes it infinitely more difficult to get a quick, clear, idea of the forecasted hourly temperature variations. I’d suggest putting the temperatures back on the left side of the screen, just after the hour and allowing users to customize the order of the modules on their page. These simple changes would go a long way towards easing users pain. St this point I have a hard time bringing myself to open the darksky app on my iPhone. Instead, I’ve reverted to opening darksky’s web page in safari.
Piñamerica's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 2:54 PM
I have been using this app for years, it was amazing! I commute by motorcycle in the midwest, and the app was great for helping me navigate when to leave home to avoid the rain, or if i need to just take the car. But...New design makes viewing rain percentages a lot less clear. On top of that, the app seems to not be as good as at forecasting as it was. Not sure if coincidence or not, but i have gotten rained on while on my bike three times since the update. All three times the forecasting chance of precip was 0. Giving it a week before deleting. Can’t say i would recommend this app anymore.
Jdawg800008's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 2:14 PM
The UI update is uninspired and confusing. What is this arbitrary Precipitation % scale? Nothing makes sense anymore and the app is cluttered. Overall, have loved and used this app for years. Starting to be disappointed however.

I was recommended this app from a fellow weather junkie. Huge mistake. I paid for something that never sends me rain alerts or never sends me severe weather alerts. Such a junky app. It’s absolutely not better than the free versions out there.
vivasuzi's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 1:41 PM
I love this app. It’s the first time I took the plunge and paid for a weather app. After my fav app went away, I hunted around and tried a bunch until I found this one. I like all the changes in the most recent updates. There are two things I think could be improved. 1- I’d like to see the weather arrows on the map. They show on the mini map but not when you click to view the full radar. The direction of the storm makes a huge difference in what amount of rain we will get. And 2- I wish the date would show next to the days for the future forecast. Sometimes I have plans based on a date and I get a little lost remembering if that date is a fri sat sun etc. Showing the date would make a huge difference. Overall I’ve found this app to be fairly accurate. It loads fast and it’s easy to see the forecast fairly quickly.
mbv16's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 1:28 AM
You guys...I’m not complaining about the new interface because I know adaptation doesn’t happen overnight. Two things break my heart, though: 1) it’s not intuitive. You guys had the real world use case down pat. I’d plan grocery shopping and taking the garbage out by the perfect verbiage of your minute by minute weather predictions. 2) you’re no longer accurate. I can only assume my point 1 will come back as I learn the new features. But, not being accurate is a real deal breaker. Twice I’ve been burned by inaccurate data. That’s never happened. I’ve been an advocate for Dark Sky over the years and have truly “sold” it to at least two dozen people. Please make me proud again. Fix it.
--**'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 12:34 PM
1) newest update still doesn’t always automatically refresh 🤬 ridiculous for a expensive paid weather app. 2) when adding the app widget to my notifications pull/swipe menu it partially hides part of the quick-glance widget. Only fixed if I “show more” enable...poor design in this case. iPhone 8+
DavyGbz's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 12:26 PM
Never in my life have I been led so astray, so often, by a weather forecasting service. I like the interface — though I liked it more before they changed it — but It’s just not very accurate. Yesterday it rained hard for three hours, when Dark Sky had been telling me all day that it would drizzle for 15 or 30 minutes in the middle of the night. Something like that happens a few times a week on average. There’s also a glitch in the settings… Many times I have selected to have the app open to my current location, and yet it keeps reverting back to New York City (?!). Not recommended.
intermediatic's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/25/18 12:09 PM

I finally decided to update the app and am regretful of my decision! I’m not a fan of the little circles and in truth it took me a little bit to understand exactly what I was looking at, which basically look like a really boring weather app when I hit truly enjoyed using it and even had recommended clients, friends, and family to also purchase the app (which will no longer be happening). I am so disappointed in the update and will be searching for a new weather app to use for work.
skydog66's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/24/18 9:32 PM
Fix Dark Sky. This was one of my best apps. Now I’m getting poor forecasting. I can beat the app, declaring rain. My house windows offer more of a heads-up than this app. Who did what!? The new look is neither here nor there. But a weather app that can’t tell the weather is relatively pointless.
peterjf1's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/24/18 7:24 PM

I purchased this app well over a year ago and was amazed at its precision for local forecasts and its unique look. Now, with the recent upgrade, I can barely read the screen. Please give us the option of a “classic look”! I would not purchase this app if this was how it looked a year ago...
Aeris282's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/24/18 1:24 PM
Disappointed with the most recent update. I paid for this app in order to see precise updates for inclement weather. Before the update, you could see the weather forecast in 15 minute increments. Now, the forecast is only posted in 2 hour increments. As others have mentioned, the updated UI makes Dark Sky look like other free weather apps which is not good. Dark Sky is still excellent for notifying users of inclement weather as it happens, but this is the only feature I would recommend with this update.

I got rid of my last weather app because of its inaccuracy. This app is much more accurate and easy to look at. The only thing I really miss from my other app is an adequate Futurecast in the radar. When I look at the map in motion, I get mostly past hours with only one hour predicted into the future. It’s way more helpful to see the weather pattern three or four hours into the future than to see what happened three hours in the past. In fact, the app I got rid of allowed me to choose whether I looked at past or future predictions in motion. Can we please have this in a next version? The interactive map is so cool and this would make it perfect!

Love this app. Loved that it was always right when other weather apps were fighting to catch up. Now I am not sure what’s going on. For example it is raining right now but dark sky is saying it’s overcast. Please fix. Thank you. I will still give it 4 stars as I love this app.
MKE Carrie's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/24/18 11:46 PM
I used to LOVE this app and then the update happened. Now I can’t read the hourly temps. I find myself going to other weather apps more and more.
Kicker1221's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/24/18 11:41 AM
The original interface and UX was simple and fast. I have no clue what made you make such a drastic change to something that is less intuitive and confusing. Not pleasing to the eyes at all. Highly recommend you listen you your long time paying fans and revert back to the cleaner interface that I would gladly keep paying for.
former fan 2018's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/24/18 11:35 PM
Every since the new update of the app has all wrong. It is no longer accurate on when it is going to rain etc. when the old one had it down to the exact minute. I believe that you should bring it back to the old one and give people a run for their money
Derv88's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/24/18 10:54 PM
Twice since the major update I’ve checked Dark Sky for rain early in the day, and twice now it has reported no rain in sight. Also, after it’s rained in both instances, the app still doesn’t account for the precipitation. What happened? If I remember correctly, this app wasn’t cheap, and now it’s worse than the stock weather data on iPhone provided by the dumb weather channel.
Matt AKA Danja's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/24/18 10:26 PM
Used to be my favorite way to check the weather. Now it’s just a black screen on my watch with the clock in the upper right corner. It doesn’t display anything. I need a refund!
MusicPerson72's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 9:19 AM
So the redesign has been out for a while. I still hate it as much as I did day one. DarkSky — now LightSky, I guess — why did you have to ruin something that wasn’t broken? :(
JB29695's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 8:25 PM
I absolutely loved DarkSky until the “rewrote “ it from the ground up. I hate this version .
Jhiu's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 8:03 PM
The recent redesign added a lot more features but dumped the best one — a graph that showed the rain outlook for the next hour and told you exactly when it was going to start or stop raining and how much rain was coming. The entire reason for the app seemingly was that when you saw a “dark sky“ you could open it and immediately learn what you wanted to know in a visual way. I don’t know why they would get rid of that
New cash user's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 8:00 AM
since new release, app always opens with weather for 260 Broadway in NYC - and i’ve never been to or used that address, live hundreds of miles away. deleted and reinstalled with no effect. new graphics harder to read at a glance.
TWarnock's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 7:32 PM
Please go back to the old look/feel. The new look is very bland and is hard to read.
terri&ric's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 7:30 PM
Really love the app. developer has done a great job. !
slimpicken's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 5:27 PM
App seems to be very accurate on predicting precipitation, overall I like it and use it as my primary weather app. However, would love to have the ability to customize the interface, e.g. dark theme.
pdxmary's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 3:20 PM
This used to be my go to weather source. I’ve tried to give it some time to see if I would get used to the new version, but it seems that these were fixes in search of a problem. The new look is visually bland – one can’t distinguish different relevant features. It seems to default to Broadway in New York City, and I have to click through and choose my current location every time. It seems less accurate than it used to be, which doesn’t even make sense and perhaps it’s just my frustration spilling over. Really bummed. Please bring back a classic option or something like Gmail did. Please!
Travis.Q's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 2:59 PM
It would be great if the Apple Watch complication would actually update. In the last update, I could open the app on Apple Watch, and force the complication to update. Now, that has stopped working. In fact, the complication shows NO information at all. Very lame. I love this app, but if the Apple Watch complication can’t update automatically, it’s kind of worthless as an “at a glance” tool.
jennlobb's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 2:47 PM
Why have you done away with your gorgeous UI for this new ugly one? I can’t look.
Imronburgundy83's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 2:35 PM
This new layout is atrocious. So convoluted and hard to read compared to the old standby.
alexniiii's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 2:14 AM

Crosslinking's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 2:10 AM
I keep hoping the developers will revert the app back to its state before the redesign.
Chosser's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 1:53 PM
I really like the new features but since the update the app no longer can determine my location at home. I had no issues before the new version.
QuirkEmoji's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 1:28 AM
After the update, which was not an improvement in practicality, it has become totally unreliable. Recently came up in conversation with a couple other users of this app (including the friend who had originally recommended it) and we cannot get an accurate weather forecast anymore and have all been forced to go back to using the Weather app. It’s also harder to read, and can’t check it at a glance anymore. Totally stinks and will eventually delete at the rate it’s going. Just wasted money at this point.
_freelance_'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 1:26 PM
This so called highly rated weather app has a major problem: the new version insists on showing me weather in New York City, which is 1500 miles away. Why? The device has never been there nor have I ever searched that location. Why can’t it just show me the current location, or the last location. Nope, always defaults to NYC.
sisyphus216's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 11:57 PM
Have loved Dark Sky for years, but it underwent a major update recently that kind of ruined the app. The sleek simple interface is gone, filled with the generic clunky mess you would find in every other weather app. And of more immediate importance, it is extremely buggy since the update. Keeps defaulting to me being in NYC (I’m in Utah) and it regularly freezes or crashes.
The New Smiley's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 11:43 AM
The more I use the app now after the major overhaul update, the more inaccurate I find it. For example, it is currently raining at my location fairly hard. Dark Sky, after having to refresh to get the correct location, forecasts no rain. The other four weather apps on my device all show rain. It would be nice to have to old, very functional Dark Sky back. 😕
RImUser's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 11:32 PM
The more I use the update the more I am falling out of love with Dark Sky. Once upon a time there was this amazing app - maybe the only one created Specifically to instantly paint a very visual and beautiful picture of the coming weather. By day. By week and around the globe. Globe is still great, week is fine but it’s the specific day. I really feel you are moving into the ME TOO world kitchen sink approach - through everything at us AND make us read to make sure we previously got instantly. We are filmmakers and accurate weather FAST is do or die for us. I bet I have honestly sold 50 copies of this app based on my own enthusiasm. One case in point - the fact that I see it raining now in the top visual view and there is no blue in the vertical bar representing exactly the same time and location show me the branding committee has taken up UI design. I think we are breaking up Dark Sky. I’ll keep you around like casual friends with benefits but not sure I can depend you anymore.
algea80's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 10:27 AM
If you’re interested in local maps do not bother getting this app. If you zoom in on your area or even state for that matter the furthest you can look ahead on the radar is 1 hour.
Sweerek1's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 10:23 AM
The last version of Dark Sky was the best because at a single glance, even at arms length, you got the essential info you needed. That is the ONLY reason I bought it. This new version is joins the rest (even free) apps with just far too much info, smaller text, longer to update, etc. More is NOT better. So how about a compromise — give us a Simple View option?
BSMSR's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/23/18 10:22 PM
A friend recommended this app to me and raved about how accurate the rain forecasts have been in north Jersey. I live in central Jersey and have been very disappointed with the total inaccuracies with regards to rain forecasts. I rarely pay for apps but thought this one would be worth it. How wrong I was. The IOS Weather app has been more reliable. I won’t recommend this app.
BrockDiesel's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 9:03 PM
Defaults to giving me weather info for a location 2000 miles away that I’ve never been to or requested a forecast for, frequently fails to retrieve forecast data when opening the app, and gives less information before... all in service of a visual style update that couldn’t be more generic. I’m uninstalling, as this now has no edge over any other weather app.
EmiryB's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 8:58 PM
the main thing that has held me back all these years from making Dark Sky, an otherwise wonderful app, my default weather app, has been the lack of barometric pressure info. I suffer from regular migraines and this is a critical part of weather forecasting for me and many others. please consider adding? that having been said, the “otherwise wonderful” judgment is also based on the old Dark Sky app. this new one claims to have more info and to be easier to use, but I’ve found it to be a dramatically worse in terms of UI/UX. I’ve held off on reviewing until now because I wanted to be fair and make sure it wasn’t just a knee-jerk reaction to change on my part. but no — weeks later and I still have to spend way too much time processing the information presented to me every single time I open the app, whereas before it was intuitive at a glance. again, I very happily paid for this app and have been using it for years without complaint, and would prefer to remain loyal. but right now I’m mostly sticking with it because my other currently-installed options are even worse. that’s not exactly a rousing recommendation. would love it if you’d reconsider, or at least have multiple UI options available to your users.
thouston2000's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 8:06 PM
This was my favorite app until the change. Why would you want it to look like all of the other jumbled and overly colorful weather apps? What everyone liked was the nice clean easy to read interface. Please give us a ‘classic’ mode so we don’t have to go out and find another weather app.
Shadowbottle's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 6:33 AM
It just says Dark Skies now. When I switch to the dock it flashes for a moment but otherwise is broken. Also the redesign lacks the soul of the original. It’s ok, but... feels plain. Vanilla. Mayonnaise. Meh. Icons are nice but ehhh
Sahilo's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 5:35 AM

Decomposer's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 5:17 PM
Dark Sky has always been my go to app for micro forecasting. Since the recent update it insists on opening in New York City for my current location. This app used to be flawless and reliable, not so much until they fix the issues from the major update.
Statchimo34's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 5:07 AM
I never write reviews, but Dark Sky went from one of my favorite apps to one I will stop using. A VERY bad update.
avrignaud's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 4:21 PM
New versions (with the new UI) almost always default to a New York location, instead of using actual location (Seattle in my case). This is maddening since you now have to manually check, and pull down to refresh if it’s wrong. New UI is “ok” - don’t love it, don’t hate it. I do miss seeing precipitation line directly on same chart as temperatures. And it strikes me as odd that the high/low temperature summary for the day is in a tiny font and not larger/highlighted for quick at a glance viewing. Hoping issues get polished out!
Ettore B's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 3:04 AM
Loved the old app which was simple and uncannily accurate. Today, I opened DarkSky which reported the temperature to be TEN degrees warmer than what I verified by several other methods. Why did you mess with a good thing? Sometimes. Simpler is better.
Klompen222's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 2:13 AM
I Googled for “best weather app,” and paid $3.99 for this piece of waste. I live in Osaka, Japan — one of the largest cities in the world — and Dark Sky’s radar hasn’t been “available for more than two weeks!!! I want my money back, you theives! Additionally, it has a truly dull appearance.

Brewc's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 1:48 PM
Just upgraded from Apple Watch 2 to a 4 and for some reason you guys don’t have a complication for the 4 seriously! That and the fact it gave accurate rain updates made it my go to weather app, but you guys are going backwards since last update.
A long time reader.'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 1:46 AM
Just purchased this popular weather app to glance at while on the Apple Watch only to find out after downloading it that it does show anything on my Apple Watch, just a logo.
MRIgrl's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 1:45 PM
I like change but only when it’s for the better. The chart for the precipitation for the day is less appealing to read, and I cannot find any place to look up humidity levels? That is important to plan for the day where I live. If I hadn’t purchased this app a long time ago when it was easier to read charts for the day, I don’t think I’d ever pay what I paid for it with it like this. Please change some things back.
cardfan629's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 1:16 AM
My favorite weather app but now that I have upgraded to the series 4 can't get the weather app to be on the new watch face. Is that because of Apple or you guys??
Gutprof's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 12:38 PM
Why did you ruin a great app? Harder to use. Wind speed is gone. That was a very important feature for me. Ack. Please rewind- in both meanings of the word.

MC7746's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 12:03 PM
This app continues to be the most accurate with weather. But I have to admit the new interface is harder for me to read. I like switching from temp to precipitation to wind, etc. and it is harder to do given the position on the screen. Map weather doesn’t get the hourly view like in the past either. Maybe just a little longer to get use to the new layout but after 2weeks I am still wanting the old version. At least the weather forecast seems to be fantastic so I will still use.
dalailama23's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 11:58 AM
I have had this app for several years love it. I have it also as a complication on my Apple Watch as well as phone. Dark Sky is always upgrading and recently added a visual of moon phase which shows on complication. Best weather app out there. Clear, fast, ez to use and understand.
squalamack's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 11:00 PM
Overall I like the app but compared with Carrot the Apple Watch app is unreliable. Also the widget isn’t information-dense enough
TejasFajitas's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 10:47 AM
I don’t know how this app is so highly rated. I live in downtown Houston Texas, and I commute by foot. This app cannot tell you anything you don’t already know and it’s downright misleading. The most recent update also made it confusing. I have push notifications set to tell me when rain is starting and stopping, which I would describe as completely inaccurate. “Rain starting” means nothing is happening and there might be some clouds outside. However when actual rain starts it remains silent. However in the case of actual rain the app has nothing to contribute. I’ve been caught in a rain shower without an umbrella too many times now because I trusted this ridiculous app.
Sierra2965's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 10:44 PM
Harder to read, has lost all my previous settings. Will probably be deleting soon. Too bad, used to be best and easiest to use. An alternative app I have with cute cat pics and a lot of ads is now better, that is how bad Dark Sky has become. Will be looking for replacement app.

katie5775's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/22/18 10:32 PM
I bought this app, the only app I’ve ever bought, because it was rated so highly. I was so impressed I told others about it. Then the update. Now it’s terrible, doesn’t load half the time and the updated Format is confusing and not informative.
J. Iscariot's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 9:28 PM
This was probably my first paid app and I’ve been using since it was released. I was a pretty big fan and convinced many of my friends to buy it (yes there are many free weather apps, yes it’s worth paying for this one). Unfortunately, their redesign is much less “minimal” despite their claims to the contrary and generally less pleasant to use. Info like the UV index (which I use more than the temperature) is now harder to access. However my main complaint is that the displayed information is now harder to read/process than before.
hankWt's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 7:59 AM
I’m now on the hunt for a new weather app. The “new and improved” update ruined what was great about the app - it’s clean, easy to digest feel. There’s just too much going on in the app now, and as a result I’ve found I no longer use it as often as I did.
Joseph Grivois's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 7:10 PM
Never shows any information on the Apple Watch until you tap the complication. Then as soon as you go back to the watch face, the information disappears.

diskeed's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 4:54 PM
Very disappointed with the 6.x upgrade, in short they tried to fix something that wasn't broken. Now the bi-hourly temperature numbers, instead of being big and easy to read (black against a white background), are a super-tiny font embedded in a dark circle. And instead of temperature if you select something else to display (ie, precip, wind, humidity, etc.) it completely forgets your selection the next time you open the app. Would love to reinstall the older version, as these 6.x updates just takes a great program and makes it mediocre.

Michael094's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 2:22 AM
Not sure how much of a fan I am of the recent changes to the interface, but this is a pretty awesome app. I spend a lot of time outdoors for work and while it’s about as accurate in the mountains as most weather forecasts in predicting weather, but once it starts raining I think it has always accurately predicted when the rain will intensify and stop. The biggest grip I have with the new interface is how difficult it is to find the humidity (also, don’t tell me it’s humid if the humidity is below 75%, cause that is lovely). It used be be a quick click, but now I have to scroll down and then over on a tiny little menu. It isn’t user friendly, and I live in the south, so the humidity is way more important than the temperature in the summer (we know it’s going to be hot, but will any of our sweat evaporate???). Thanks for a great app. This would be a 5 star review if finding the humidity is made easier or there is an option to go back to the old interface.
Evilipoo's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 2:21 PM
Been using Dark Sky for several years. Used to live in a rural area and was frustrated bc I would often see “next hour forecast unavailable. Radar is down.” Well now I’m in a completely different state, 3 miles from a coast guard stn and I still get the “radar is down” message more often than not. Rain notifications are about 70% accurate. Enough to be useful most of the time. So how can that happen if the radar is always down? 🤔
iJillB's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 2:07 AM
Always love this app; it’s my go to. Not a huge fan of the user interface update, but since the update my app never wants to refresh for my current location (usually Atlanta) but instead rather tell me what the weather is like in NYC. Don’t get me wrong, I love The City, but I mainly like the weather here better. In any case, refresh isn’t working well. Please fix. Thanks so much!
The New Smiley's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 2:05 PM
The more I use the app now after the major overhaul update, the more inaccurate I find it. It is currently raining at my location fairly hard. It would be nice to have to old, very functional Dark Sky back. 😕
jdudhebc's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 1:11 AM
Loved DarkSky until the recent updates. Now it either doesn’t load, loads data for the wrong city or is hours/days out of date. In other words it’s worthless for its purpose of hyper local weather and forecasts.
anotherdrew's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 12:45 PM
There is a whole new look and feel, that makes this app hard to use. I also am not sure if I’m interpreting the data correctly anymore - it says that there is a 12% chance of rain but the odd bing ball indicators say 4; I can’t understand. It also takes forever to figure out the temperature and if it’s going to rain. I regret updating. You should probably skip this one.
PTXXK's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 12:15 PM
Usually the reasons to change a UI are to improve usability and/or to accommodate new features. This new UI does neither and actually eliminates some functionality (wind speed and direction). Please add a setting to re-enable the previous UI or something like it. Or at least give us back the features we used to have.
m_erigold's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 12:09 PM
I am disappointed with Dark Sky. It was recommended to me by several people but after months of use I wish I could get my money back. My friends have also complained about the lack of accuracy over the past several months. Dark Sky knows when it’s actually raining but it’s forecast predictions are often off by hours or just flat out wrong. Not a fan of the new design either.
Saunddk's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/21/18 12:08 PM
I have used this app for a while and love how accurate it is for precipitation. One day it updated and looked completely different. MUCH WORSE. it has been made to look like a generic weather app. I think the functionality is worse. It’s harder to use. I hate how it shows the precipitation numbers. Single digits?! What does that mean?! Show me a percentage like before! I’m so mad about the update I might just delete it and I definitely don’t recommend it to friends anymore. Before the update I would tell anyone who would listen about it. Not now. Please go back to the old version!!

zsa666🏁's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 7:54 PM
Can we have a little re-think of the UI? It looks generic now and the weather icons are ugly. The original versions of this app looked so appealing and all that has been inexplicably lost. Please do a new version with the new features and the old look.

OriginalRC's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 4:32 PM
Do not buy this app. It is a bait-and-switch app that has nothing in common with the app that won the “Editor’s Choice” award from the App Store except the name. This app is a scam designed to profit off the goodwill of the original Dark Sky app. Don’t be fooled. Five star ratings on the App Store are for the OLD VERSION; sort reviews by most recent and you’ll see all the one and two star reviews for version 6. (Dark Sky devs were too cowardly to reset their reviews after updating the app and are actively trying to trick you into believing the current version is highly rated when it is not) The makers of this app decided to make a completely different app with a separate UI and UX and then replaced the original Dark Sky app with it without recourse for paid customers. The new design was shouted down on Twitter 20:1 against the change across hundreds of tweets. For every 1 person that likes the new design, 20 people do not. Has Dark Sky done anything to respond to these concerns? No. Will they? No. The reason they won’t is because the original design served its purpose: it got people to pay for the app. Unfortunately the number of people buying has likely changed, and the developers “need” to increase the paid customer base. So what’s a company to do when their current design isn’t pushing the number of units they would like? If you’re Dark Sky, you make the conscious decision to say “Screw everyone that already paid for the app; they aren’t going to give us any more money than they already have. Let’s focus exclusively on people who HAVEN’T given us money and make THEM our priority.” This is analogous to paying full price for a song from the iTunes music store. It’s a pop song that hit #1 on the charts and it’s your favorite song. You listen to it every day, multiple times per day. The song has won awards and been lauded in the press for its original composition. Fans of the song love it and recommend it to friends. Then one day you pick up your phone to play your song but all you hear is a spoken-word version of the lyrics. It turns out the artist got tired of hearing that tune. The artist decided the song would be better if it were completely recomposed from the ground up. He wanted to make “version 6.0” of the song, and he’s ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN you’re going to love it — so much so that he has unilaterally removed the old version of the song from every device in the world and replaced it with the spoken word version. So now, even though you paid for the original song, and even though you loved the song and listened to it every day secure in the knowledge that you paid for it, it’s gone forever. That’s what Dark Sky does. They sell software under false pretenses and treat their current paid customers like garbage. If you want to be ripped off and have bait-and-switch tactics used against you then tap that Buy button. Otherwise, I recommend you use any other weather app, because version 6 of Dark Sky is garbage made by cowardly scam artists looking for a few quick bucks off the goodwill and good reviews for something they no longer make or sell.
Sonchai's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 4:23 AM
UPDATE: My default location is now Broadway, New York. Still in CA. UPDATE: My home location keeps defaulting to Michigan. I am in California. It also doesn't predict rain very well, stating it isn't raining when it is. Original: It takes 7-10 seconds to load every time I start the app. More importantly it is inaccurate in the one hing it is supposed to do: Predict rain. Twice in the last week it has been pouring out and the app said that there was no rain currently and that there was a 0% chance of rain that day.
Suzannica's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 4:01 AM
I hate the new interface. Why would an app called “Dark Sky” suddenly be completely white? Also, it’s way too busy now. I will keep it installed for a little while to see if they issue a new update addressing some of the new problems. It was a great app in its day.
darkskyupdatesucks's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 2:31 AM
The whole function of this app is to track when it’s about to rain and the duration of it. I work outdoors and have use this app for many years and it’s worked great. I’m at work now and it started to drizzle then rain then heavy rain. Dark sky said NOTHING. Same thing happened with the storm on Tuesday. The update on this app renders it completely useless.
Atomicadecay's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 2:03 AM
I always figured a weather app was just a weather app and I had bounced between a few before stumbling on Dark Sky. Once I did, I stopped bouncing. I was first drawn in by the different layout which I found refreshing, but then I was utterly blown away by the accuracy of the notifications. If I get a notification that it’s going to start raining in 7 minutes, it literally starts raining in 7 minutes. Witchcraft, I say! And so far I’d guess it hits this level of accuracy 95+% of the time...unbelievable. I’ve been a Dark Sky user now for a few years, and my only gripe (and hardly a gripe), is I do kind of prefer the previous icon set that was used in the app.
aaronjohnsonnn's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 2:01 PM
This app used to be the one weather app I trusted. I live in a large city, so any other app just telling me the weather for the city as a whole does nothing for me. Enter Dark Sky. Loved it. With the latest update though I feel like it’s lost a lot of functionality. Also not a big fan of the redesign. I want to glance at the weather, not see what it was twenty years ago.
Sqrt(-1)'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 1:38 PM
Too cluttered and difficult to read quickly. Sometimes less is more, as before.
Tcpsoft's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 1:31 PM
I’ve used the Dark Sky app for three years now and at first it was awesome. It would accurately tell me about upcoming weather events and accurately know when it was raining and when it was not. It seems every time there was an update, the app would get a little less intelligent and I get caught outside unexpectedly by rain when the app said no rain was coming and conversely, the app would say it is raining out and it’s sunny. I’ve done the “report weather” thing in the app hoping it world learn and get better again, but no luck. I get that weather isn’t an easy thing, but why was the app probably 90% accurate earlier and now its like 20% - on its best day. Finally, this last release was a major UI change and, for me, it’s really unintuitive compared to the last UI. I also have to continually go in and refresh my location to get the current forecast as it doesn’t update when I open the app, it still shows me the forecast from the last time the app was open. And yes, my phone settings allow the app to see my location. I find myself using the app less and less, now really just checking back in to see if it ever gets back to its old, working state.
Argue2much.'s Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 1:00 PM
The app used to be amazing. Now it’s just like all the rest, overly animated and complicated. And, it lost the only features I care about.
Skipton Windelthorp's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 12:48 PM
For a while this was the perfect weather app. Great forecasts, intuitive interface, awesome complication. Then the complication stopped working. Then there was an update that said it fixed the complication. It didnt. Go ahead and google "darksky complication not working" theres hundreds of forum threads about it going back forever. Really disappointed tbey cant get this right. Still use it for a phone weather app but ive had to find something else for my watch iOS12 8+, watchOS5 series 3
jpaakk's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 12:42 PM
I miss the dark interface and hate how the percentages are displayed when checking the hourly forecast for precipitation. Not as intuitive and unique as it once was. Wish I could take a time machine back to the old UI.
K2Kevin's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 12:39 PM
Had to enable zoom feature on iPhone to read the weather dot numbers. Miss the previous UI and how pro it looked, but I guess making it look nice for kindergarteners is just a business decision. After all those little kindergarteners and millennials like things familiar, so Dark sky looks like every other weather app now. When I grow up I want to be a tinker toy operator, and develop for dark sky! Lol Still love you guys for all the work, just miss the pro UI.

releon4514's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/20/18 11:54 AM
I’ve been using Dark Sky for years and have become less and less fond of it. The latest version is a lot of work just to find out the information you want. I would rather see all of the labels on the top of the page. For example temperature, wind, dew point, humidity, etc. Also, there’s very little indication when you choose a category such as, wind or humidity. The category becomes bolded, but all the labels are the same color. It would be great if you could order the labels to what’s most important to you. When I try to slide the labels left or right the whole screen moves. Very poor design.

Nick Wylie's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/2/18 3:34 AM
The new interface is terrible. I loved having the day view and the week view in separate pages. Now it’s all jumbled together. And on the day/week forecast there is no longer a red line showing me the time! Also, since the update, loading the forecast has become slower. It used to be instant, now it takes almost 15 seconds. Fix this! Put the day/week view back as a separate page!
SeriouslyDave's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/2/18 3:31 AM
The previous version of this app had a visual appeal that was far superior to all other weather apps I’ve seen. Now, it’s not much different from all the rest. I give it 3 stars because it still doesn’t have ads. However, it’s hard to imagine that it’ll stay ad-free since it now looks so much like other weather apps that are filled with ads...

No, my bad. I see what UR doing. Very good software. Yea, too many glitches now. should be concentrating on football realizing UR “off for the weekend”...how can the present 12 hours be “today” but then the next seven days begins with “today” all over again? Shouldn’t next 7 days begin with next day? Or I’m not “getting” the interface correctly?? HTF can today go from 1500 to 1300 next day yet next 7 days begins with THIS SAME day and not actual next day!? OR THIS is the INTENDED format?? It’s just weird... It’s a good APP. But Y in the hell is there no way to get back to GPS/UR location on “planet view” if you move off of it when U CK a different location? Or am I missing something? I have to add UR claim of when it’ll “precipitate”/rain/snow accurately much less where we’re standing is total BS. Y would U make nonsensical claims which are IMPOSSIBLE to predict? Unless we live in Death Valley where even I can tell U it’ll be scalding hot...& sunny. Where I reside NO ONE not even God himself can predict from minute to minute. Great APP but false claims prevail. Yes, I’ve read similar complaints....& they want our “input”/rating but where in the hell is our reply?? Or our...”we will try & improve it”?? I’m guessin’ they know they’re full of ****. At least other APPS/developers...even other weather APPS reply. These guys can’t waste their time so Y in the hell should we bother?? OK more like it. FINALLY something so basic...GPS reposition. Much better APP/interface. I standby what I said however. No one is gonna predict weather with the CERTAINTY U or any other SERVICE claims. Yet I know given the tools available U do a very good job. So, ok. Well done. I need to add the time machine is a very cool feature. So again well GD done. Nice redesign no ? About it

Just Another Mac Geek's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/2/18 12:35 AM
New update is terrible. Pretty graphics, but less information, and I have to try harder to find it. Where is the sunrise/sunset times that used to be right there in the initial view? What's up with the preceip information - are those number supposed to be the number of inches, the chance of precip, or something else? Why oh why did they decided they had to put everything on one long, annoying screen? The only thing I like about this update is the addition of the "feels like" view. I wish they'd just added that, and left the rest the way it was. I used to recommend this app to everyone...no longer. I'm hoping they listen to our feedback and fix this awful "update", but if not, I guess it's time to find another weather app.

I loved this app in NJ and NY. I have used this for 4 years and it’s terrific!!!! I moved to SoFlo (east coast) a few months and again and Dark Sky is truly better than all the others !! Pretty Darn Accurate!! In Fla it can be perfectly sunny and then 12 seconds later, it can downpour. I have to say that dark sky has been pretty accurate!!! I give them FIVE STARS, but I wish they gave a little bit more detailed information. Still Love It!! ITS MY GO-TO in FLA and I literally now have 6 weather apps in Florida, but this is the best.
Luckyfordogs's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/2/18 10:54 PM
The new User Interface has sacrificed form over function. The display is harder to read and is less intuitive - neither of these changes are value adds. A focus group of current users may have avoided this mistake.

Really wish you hadn’t changed this app. I’ve been your biggest fan and told many about how accurate it was but now it cant even keep my location accurate! Even the rain percentages are off. Like 7%chance yesterday before a downpour! Also the new layout is awful. May be dumping you, sad to say.

Original interface gave all the info needed at one glance and then I could go in for more if I wanted. Now the interface is so busy with all the info trying to be presented and the temperature is unreadable in the hourly circles. This was my favorite app. Any chance to have the easier to read interface back? Someday your demographic might include more with “over 40 eyes” as they say in the South. :)

mboninco's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 7:55 PM
The use of balls on a sliding scale makes it harder to see when it is more likely to rain and by how much. If they used a fixed scale, and put the value in a column, rather than in the ball, it would be much easier to read
LB in Chicago's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 7:43 PM
This app has changed significantly from the time everyone loved it. This is not your editors choice version. The updates in the latest version have made this app unusable for me. As you see in the screen shot, it shows radar and current temperature with the forecast for the day below. I don’t need to see the radar. I live near the ocean and the microclimate does not show up on radar, so the new ‘feature’ doesn’t help me at all. Worse, the daily forecast below has numbers too small for me to read. I am now looking for another weather app.
Pez1022's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 5:36 PM
I used to LOVE this app; I recommended it to friends & family constantly. But since last update the app has lost a great deal of it’s usefulness. It no longer gives humidity or wind speeds in forecasts or current information. Predicted wind speeds are very important information for anticipating Ferry or Plane cancellations. Humidity is also important part of forecasts. As someone with asthma Humidity is important for air quality and was very useful for me - but neither of these are are included in forecasts now. Honestly I don’t think it is worth spending $$ for this app now.
pelzek's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 5:17 PM

lochemet18's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 4:56 PM
It’s hideous. Esthetically unpleasing, convoluted, difficult to figure out what is going on. Too many lines and bubbles. Initial release had no pull to refresh. Love this app initially, so disappointed. All the minimalism of the app was removed in favor of information overload and not in a good way. Removing from my phone and hopefully finding a better app.
Skeuomorph's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 4:53 PM
If you want a non standard forecast item such as UV Index it Cloud Cover, the new UI forces a tap on each day rather than a simple way to see all the days and all the hours preserving the non standard attribute. Used to be Dark Sky was the only app that could do this well. Now it makes it difficult. Dark Sky (forecast.io) data through that newly popular “snarky” app offers best of both worlds, great data and a UI that remembers what data matters to you, not the designer.
IAmRedHawk's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 4:21 PM
You've taken a beautiful, great weather app and made it a blah, great weather app. Aesthetics matter! I truly thought you understood that concept. And one other item. Put the current date/time on the open screen. Sometimes the signal is glitchy and I like to know at a glance of what I'm seeing is current. To be frank this new gui looks like Mrs Brown's 3rd grade class designed it for you. I still love your app. Just not nearly as much.
analytic landscapes's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 4:08 PM
Dark Sky used to be an elegant looking app with lots of information on it. It replaced its distinctive elegant look with a cartoon look that’s just like every other weather app. Lots of useful information also vanished: %precipitation, wind, and humidity. It also lost the elegant and easily readable black-and-white graphic of weather for the next several days, replaced by something colorful that is much less informative because the comparisons are much harder to see. There is no reason to choose this app in preference to any other.
Robotic Relative's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 3:59 AM
Maybe I’m missing something, but the weather icons seem to have been removed from the hourly forecast in the last big update. And “hourly” now means every two hours, I guess. I should be able to quickly glance at my phone to determine the upcoming weather. Don’t make me think. Dark Sky used to be a great app, but this update removes basic functionality that I need in a weather app.
MobileUser2018's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/19/18 3:15 PM
When I use the AppleWatch complication, it just shows the DarkSky icon and when I tap on it, it shows the weather/temperature. I expected it would show the current temperature without tapping on it. Should have read the recent reviews of the major change. I always heard of Dark Sky since it first came out, but just didn’t feel the need to pay $3.99 for a weather app when other free apps does just enough. Fast forward many years, simply out of curiosity, one day I randomly download the app to see what everyone was been raving about.

Miss the beautiful classic Blue Sky. It had blue colors and numbers and words that were not minuscule. I did NOT need to locate my glasses to read it in the past. Now, sadly, I do. Those little shaded circles make it difficult to read when it’s late at night and I don’t want to turn up the brightness on my phone. Obviously the maker does not live in a humid location. I miss clicking on the humidity and seeing the percentages. Do we really need Feels Like? Get rid of that! It NEVER is that far off from the actual temperature anyway! Please bring back the old look. You can keep the great radar though. Always loved that! Miss you, old Blue Sky. ☹️

kev.in's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 8:13 PM
The new version of Dark Sky needed a bit more thought and QA before release. It often shows me the weather in New York instead of my current location. The extended forecast is now buried and confusingly includes a repeat of the current day’s hour-by-hour also displayed right above. The biggest problem is that the wind information got removed; I depended on the wind for all sorts of things because I live in a windy area and it can make a huge difference in the weather. I really hope they fix these things because I normally use Dark Sky at least once a day.
Bart and Brit's Mom's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 8:06 PM
This was a great app to a poor app. It was easily and quick to read. In one glance all the data was there. Now you have to move from one data field to the next. No more time, temp info and rain info on the screen. Want know about when it might rain? Look for the blue on the screen. Not any more, it’s separate. I’ll be looking for a new app to replace it.

If you guys hurry you will be the only weather CarPlay app. Just a suggestion, if you do this, make it so it knows/learns your daily commute, and tells you well before you drive into severe storms. This app used to work great, but ever since the redesign, the devs have fallen down on the job in terms of QA. I live in the bay area and every now and then the app puts me at 260 Broadway in NYC. Huh? As others have also noted the watch complication still doesn't work correctly and the refresh is slower than before. C'mon guys, get it together.
Chriis_M's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 3:28 AM
We need a dark mode ASAP. Also some things need smoothing out such as the radar sometimes doesn’t play smoothly. Still the app overall has being taking awhile to load everything. Also I notice moving around on the map is really bad, it just moves on it’s own or will not go the way you’re going. The radar shows nothing when clicking on the map from the forecast tab. It has to play till the end and then shows the stuff. Really this needs fixing. It’s been this way since the new redesign
ders19's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 3:25 AM
... however there’s no dark mode?
Mr . Seabolt's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 3:22 AM
While Dark Sky was my top of mind app for weather and accuracy, the new look and feel is a significant downgrade to the customer interface and user experience.
ScoMart's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 3:11 PM
Sold multiple people on the old App (you are welcome). Not good after the update. Not an issue with not liking change. Functionality and accuracy took several steps back. Another user asking for the old App back

I just updated my watch to iOS 5 and the bugs are back! On my watch face i only see dashes or the Dark Sky Icon. If I open the app on my watch I am able to see the weather forecast but when I return to the watch face, it’s dashes again. I uninstalled, re-installed, rebooted, updated app on phone... still didn’t fix. Frustrating!
JL177's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 2:55 AM
Another update that claims to fix the watch problems, another failure. Probably time to find another option.

UI is so boring. Forecast Bar uses Dark Sky data but presents it in a much better, more colorful UI.

Edgar BELTRAN's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 2:03 AM
I sure do miss the old ui. I had this app send I was using my note 3. And now finally download it again for my iPhone 7 Plus. With in two weeks it got a new layout. It was hard for me to understand the new layout but not I do. But still I do miss it. When I wake up. The first thing I do is check out the weather. To see how the weather it is going to be. And also I like when I'm out about I can get noticed if the weather change during the day. So if an awesome app to use and awesome to keep on your iPhone.
ajd skamaimsja's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 1:42 PM
This update has proved to be nothing more than frustrating. The UI has little discoverability (on an iPhone 8+ screen) and is extremely counterintuitive. There’s no way of customizing any settings on the main screen to even remedy some of this mess.
Upper west's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 1:42 AM
Most annoying thing with the newest update is they took away the dark mode feature. Who wants to stare into a bright screen when they wake up and want to check the weather?!!

Dark Sky has been my go to weather app for years. I updated without thinking and I’m so sorry I did. This new interface is awful and almost impossible to read the temperature. Cartoonish. Is there a way to undo an update?
killah_whale's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 12:59 AM
Full of bugs on the new watch OS and their complications. Displays just dashes and only the dark sky logo and not the actual weather/complication on some screens.
CrisRae2011's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 12:52 PM
I have been using this app for a couple of months now and I cannot stand it! At this particular moment it is raining, and my app says that it is supposed to be partly cloudy all day. In fact, this has happened on MULTIPLE occasions. At first, I tried to give this app the benefit of the doubt and tried updating it, but that has not helped the situation. I am Not impressed and this has proven to be a waste.
Pauliwalnuts's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 12:50 PM
As an avid golfer the Dark Sky app was the best for same day weather info. Now with this new update, it looks and feels exactly like every other weather app out there. I wish they kept what was simple and effective. Was 5 Stars... now just an average 3 Star App.
Iwannamango's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 12:48 PM
Dark sky has been my go to weather app for several years, but I’m giving up on it today. I have tried to get used to the new look, but there’s just no way to experience the former quick glance weather summary. It’s just like all the others now. AND I’m finding it’s consistently less accurate. For example, it’s pouring rain outside right now and dark sky tells me there is a 13% chance of light rain. And it continues to show a 32% precipitation probability for 8 hours ago when it dumped rain for two hours. So I find myself retiring Dark Sky off of my home screen and into my group weather folder while I search for a go-to replacement for accuracy and an at-a-glance overview.
Brandon187's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 12:32 PM
I’m not wild about the new changes to the app’s interface, but it also seems that the recent changes have also made the “next hour” forecasts less precise. Perhaps this is due to fewer users realizing that the “Report” feature is now buried beneath its own tab, or else to some backend change unrelated to the UI. But where I used to be able to get accurate rainfall predictions more or less down to the minute, these past few months I can’t even count on Dark Sky to accurately tell me if it is *currently* raining, let alone what might happen in the future. (It has now been pouring for 20 minutes. Dark Sky tells me to expect light rain in 2.5 hours.) Rather than a backend change, I suspect that user adoption of the reporting feature might have fallen off, and hope that the developers can take a good hard look at their usage statistics to figure out what changes need to be made.
TJS4's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 12:02 PM
This app can never find my location. I have deleted the app and reloaded it and it still doesn’t work. It keeps bringing up New York City, NY. This has been this way since I downloaded the app several months ago. Sorry I purchased it.
ObjectiveConsumer's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 11:33 PM
There are great things and bad things. In retrospect I think that carrot weather might have been a better purchase. The two things that I think could use quite a bit of improvement are: This new user interface is not good. It's below average. The widget is good at least. The weather predictions are off by 10 degrees every single day. If it says that the temperature will be 73 tomorrow, chances are very good that it will actually be 83. This is a huge issue. Other than those two problems it seems pretty solid.
adamschlag's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 11:28 PM
The new version had problems loading a new forecast. The latest update appears to fix the problems I was having with that. Thanks, Dark Sky team!
jkbckjbn's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 11:02 AM
Whoever updated this app should be fired. Terrible UX, does not load properly. I wish they would revert to the last version.
klowy's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/18/18 10:23 AM
As much as I love Dark Sky, I will never understand how they fix one thing and break another. Apple Watch no longer updating in the background. It worked great a few versions ago. Once something is working, please leave it alone.
The New Smiley's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 9:57 AM
The overhaul update changed a lot of what did not need changed, like losing the simple interface and limiting the number of saved locations. Worse still is how sluggish the app is now when loading, and how often it now does not automatically display my local weather without selecting my location.
clin0048's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 9:38 PM
...is never okay. So long as you keep ignoring us, you will continue to receive 1-star ratings. I’m almost enjoying seeing your overall rating drop.
Smcnally75's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 9:31 PM
I used to be able to get the info I needed with a quick glance. Now, just trying to look at humidity is a chore since the scrollable list of categories is rediculously small. What were you devs thinking with this change?
Shultzp's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 9:30 PM
This app used to work great, until they needlessly changed it. Apple Watch complication does not work properly. It does not update, it doesn’t even load correctly on the watch anymore.
BMAXBK's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 9:05 PM
I really do not like the new UX/UI. The original was wayyyyy better. I regularly finding myself fumbling to find what I want now. As much as I love the bones of this app, and have for a while, the redesign is pedestrian and complicated. Please consider going back!! It was simple and clean!
OldSheep44's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 8:38 PM
I have used Dark Sky since it came out. When DS first became available for the Apple Watch it was great. Now I get a condition icon with the temperature below it. The temperature is now so small that my old eyes have trouble seeing it. I am switching to Apple Weather on my watch because the numbers are larger. I still get the alerts from DS even if it’s not on my watch. I wish is would go back to the way it was on the watch.
sticky note man's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 8:35 PM
I’ve been happily using this app for years and loved it. Mostly it was accurate, but I loved the user interface. I do NOT like the new interface AND the app does not update location automatically. The first two days I used the updated version, I kept getting the same graphic indication that there was medium rain at my location for the next hour, but there was no rain anywhere for miles. I am very disappointed in this update
jc8532's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 8:19 PM
Easy to use interface with accurate forecasts
Bkraken's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 7:53 PM
Look, I can eventually get over the fact that I am now using an app that looks and feels like it was made for a child, but the interface is a clusterf*. You have always been praised as having the cleanest ui with the most correct information. Now it makes my eyes bleed. Additionally: As of this last week the app doesn't even show the correct informative. Today as an example; huge storm coming in and it says 3% chance of rain until early tomorrow morning. It didn’t change until it physically started raining. And as of this moment the temp is off by ten degrees. Please fix what you’ve broken. This app is useless now.
Chirleski's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 7:12 PM
Forecasts are inaccurate. Probabilities of precipitation don’t match in daily and hourly forecasts on the same day. For example, the daily forecast for Thursday says 78% chance of rain but the hourly forecast says 46% at 4pm. So which one is it? The app is afraid of the word “thunderstorm”. It says drizzle during a heavy thunderstorm. I don’t understand.
Protocol7's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 7:01 PM
I’ve updated my review as they’ve implemented pull to refresh, which is super important for seeing up to date information. Information is presented very well and concisely as of the recent major update, too. It’s my favorite weather app!
dvon1981's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 6:30 PM
All the simplicity and easy of use went out the window with this design. Now it’s just another clunky app. Really bummed.
D Mann's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 6:22 PM
In terms of functionality I think Dark Sky is still among - if not the - best weather app. Since version 1 it had been a minimalist design with a color palate devoid of warm colors. It was perfect. The recent redesign with bright, colorful icons brings what had been an elegant and uncommon UX down to the level of any other weather app. The icons are chunky and too bright, and - the worst part in my opinion - full of warm colors. The developers are great and incredibly responsive, the app works well, and the Apple Watch app is great, too (apart from the same aesthetic changes that have affected the main app. This is the ‘new coke’ of weather apps. I hate giving such a bad review because the app and team behind it are so good, and I know a ton of work went into the refresh. It’s just that the redesign is so bad. I’m sorry, Dark Sky. Please change back.

This is the second update to address the app issues in the Apple Watch. Updated... and still displays dashed lines where text should be. Great app and very useful on the iPhone. Shame they can’t get it right for the watch.
Vinylman230's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 3:40 AM
Update is absolutely awful. I like change, yet you guys did it all wrong. I’m not the only one saying this. Now there’s no more info on how far rain is away, so I can’t protect my tools, etc. it’s just like the weather channel app. You guys blew it. Please bring all the info back. That would be really nice for the price we all payed. Why am I even writing this you’ll never bring back what you should have never changed. I will no longer preach what used to be the sweet love of Dark Sky now it simply S*cks!!!
mikegrubbs's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 2:53 PM
I used this app for many years. It had a brilliant design and was accurate. I have tried the updated design for several weeks, and I hate it even more after a month. I tried. I really did. It’s just not an intuitive interface anymore. If the developer reads this review, please consider releasing the old design. It was much better.
juoruilu's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 2:39 PM
Ugly UI, info hidden behind layers of useless eye candy. Weather information doesn't cache when phone isn't connected to data.
Wilberdojo's Review of Dark Sky WeatherReviewed on 9/17/18 2:04 PM
This app has been a lifesaver for me. As a college student with an open backpack, knowing when it’s about to rain has been extremely helpful for knowing when to grab my umbrella to protect my assignments. This app is very accurate and watchful, and it’s the only app I actually recommend to others. The recent update has only made it more helpful with the addition of the daily summery. I’m a four year long user, and of that time there hasn’t been a single day I have not used Dark Sky.
