I'm not sure why this app only has a three star rating. It works as advertised, and the video works fine in both landscape and portrait mode. as of the last update Chromecast is now broken Unlike most apps, Chromecast works great. as of the last update Chromecast is now broken The updates nearly always brings awesome new features *has broken Chromecast * 9/28/2018 I have both this and File Browser. Chromecast is broken on both. Cant find device, when it does finally work the video stops, as well as the the time index not working properly

I like the app, it’s got some great features and for the most part it works exactly as expected and needed. However, I am having a glitch with thumbnails and I’ve emailed several times for support help and I’ve yet to hear back and it’s been a couple weeks, which is disappointing. Editing to add: I’ve sent a new email, the previous emails were sent via the site so I’ve sent one direct from my email account instead. Looking forward to a resolution! :) Editing: I heard back right away, thank you. Looking forward to a resolution!

Love this app, but if I wanted to copy a file from my computer to my iPad or iPhone while the screen is off the transfer will not finish or take forever. Other apps liked FileExplorer Pro have this functionality were I can send a file to the iPad and let it finish in the background while the iPad screen is off. I don’t know how hard it’s to enable this option, but it would be my favorite app if this option would be enabled. Also, when you transfer a file, you can’t really use the app since the info banner is in the middle of the screen. Please make that minimized so that you can still browse for file while copying in the background. Thanks!!!

I’ve been looking for a better way to view large folders of photos outside of the Photos app and this is the best. It allows you to change the size of the images with a pinch gesture. The UI is clean and functional, and the features are well executed. I do wish there was a way to view images without the file names underneath but it’s not a deal breaker

I really do enjoy this app as it's quite versatile. I use it mostly for media playback. However one characteristic I do find lacking is webm support. For some me reason the app requires a separate player to view webm, even though it plays and produces thumbs for mp4. One additional feature I'd personally like is a video loop feature, like VLC has. Overall I paid for the full version and it does mostly what I wanted it for.

Thanks for your wonderful and life saver App which is nothing what one may pay for it. I have 1 Macbook Pro and 3x1 TB WD External hard discs and with this App I have made a private network with all 4 devices plus Google Drive, and MS One Drive and all of them are working like a charm. I have one suggestion and request! Is there any possibility to add left or right swiping features to delete unwanted files or moving them? Would be highly appreciated 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹👍

This app is absolutely wonderful and I use it daily but I have hit one snag that limits my use of the app. There needs to be AFP server support so you can access your Time Capsule drive remotely away from your home/office. As my Time Capsule is my primary remote server it would be quite nice to be able to access the drive remotely via my iPhone for quick file management.

Very well done. FB took the place of multiple apps I used to use for SMB and FTP. One small point: The app crashes when attempting view photoshop PSD files. Even basic support for a preview of the PSD would be really handy.
Woody the Woodchuck's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 8/28/19 2:09 PM
Why would anyone selling a _utility_ app force purchasers to print the associated manual double-sided (no option for single sided printing) and, to top it off, include a watermark that is almost as dark as the text—rendering the printed manual virtually unreadable? For all I know, this may be the greatest app since soft ice cream but I may never get there because I can’t read the dang manual. Seriously, people, think of your users when you make decisions like this. FWIW, the problem I’m having that I was looking for an answer to in the manual is how to selectively access documents from a particular app on my iPad and move them to/access them from other iPads and even my MBP. Some things are easier to scan for in a printed document—IN MOST CASES. Mind you, I’ve used Macs since 1984 and iPads since they first came out, so I rarely need to access manuals. But this app appears to have sufficient meat that reading the manual might have been worthwhile.
AlohaKid808's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 8/28/19 2:09 PM
I actually got two apps after searching for apps that will allow SMB connections. THIS is the one! Having access to all my drives from my iPad is great. AND if you have an Apple TV, there is a version for it also. Being a photographer it’s nice to see my images on my 4K tv. Reads all my Canon raw files! The ONLY thing that I’m not sure about for the iPad version is the menu tab for “iCloud”. It does not show my iClouds files. I have looked at all the documentation and really see nothing referring to iCloud. I see how to add stuff like Box, DropBox, One Drive, etc., but nothing for iCloud. Developer, am I missing something? NOT a biggie but I am curious.

This app is my cup of coffee. More than 7 years of heavy non-stop work and it never ket me down or crashed. Stable and reliable. Every new update brings more powerful tools every time. Just what I need. It is my exclusive connection to the NAS , time capsule,PCs and MACs on my network. It is recommended for those who have a heavy loaded traffic of data across a network. Let alone its capabilities to connect to cloud services like Onedrive.

This is the best file manager to manage LOCAL files. I connect to my pc or Mac from my local personal home network. Was able to copy folder past onto iPad. From there had access to the folder. Was able to adjust size of thumb nails of photos in the folder via pinch jester. I tried several other programs that just don’t work. This program is a MUST for file management. This program saved me in Vietnam when I didn’t have access to laptop. I had to borrow someone else’s laptop copy files professional photographers photos from usb drive to laptop then access that laptop via this program get the folders copied to my iPad. Then wipe the photos from the borrowed laptop return laptop 20 min later. This program is a MUST have. Thank you SO much for writing it.

A $6 app that brags about its "so many features" but can't show menus in the the system language. At least add support for major languages like German and Russian. Also: Used the built in zip functionality to zip a folder. Destroyed all my Russian file names. I transfered the zip file to another device (difficult process) and now have to figure out how to undo the damage done by this horrible app. BEWARE: Non-ascii characters become gibberish after using Filebrowser's Zip. FileBrowser's thoughtless devs didn't think to encode UTF-8. This will affect any special characters including French, German, Chinese etc. If you need to fix just decode utf8. Can't recommend this app to anyone

Shmuelik's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 8/28/19 2:09 PM
Update: Don’t get this app. Another thing that this app does it “hacks” into your file system and wants to open your other documents. I.e. if you try to open a Pages document on your iCloud Drive it will open in FileBrowser. I tried everything to turn this behavior off but with no success. Googling it is also impossible because their generic app name gets you millions of other topics called file browser. Stick with the apple drive or use Google drive. It’s a ridiculous good program with one major problem: I can’t see all my files on iCloud. I searched the internet, their support site and can’t find any solution. My Files folder from iCloud works well but I don’t understand why FileBrowser is not able to access the same files. If it could do that its a 5 star app.

I've been using this app for a few days and really like it so far but I have had it crash when I accessed large JPG files. It imported them from my shared external drive but when I tried to open them, it crashed and had to be restarted. Haven't been able to find any documentation addressing size limits for files. Update 11/17- haven’t had any recurrence of the size problem previously noted. Been using FB for months now and really like it. 12/2018 update- can easily move data between all my devices on my home network. It even has a lockable Private Files folder that you can secure with fingerprint ID.

Great app I use it for accessing my network storage setups and it works great very fast so simple to use and setup I think my grandma could do it. I love that I can sign in with touch id the only complaint I have is that when setting up network storage at least to windows is that when signing in if the storage server does not have a password there is no button that says does not have a password but I figured out if I hit connect without imputing anything it would work anyways otherwise a fantastic app definitely recommended.

Torment0101's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 6/2/18 1:22 PM
This is the app that really completes the iPad Pro helping to make it a full fledge computer. Apple tried to get there with their Files app, which falls utterly short. This app fills the gap allowing me to truly manage my files across a myriad of sources included my NAS. Connecting to such sources is a complete breeze - it just works and is Very smooth. I didn’t want to have to have a an intermediary like a PC or Mac to transfer files from my NAS to my iPad and to manage iPad local files - and iTunes is abysmal. With this app, no other device is necessary.

Apple iOS has never handled files very gracefully for some reason. This app solves that problem. I use it to save and access files on my iPad, iPhone, home network storage device, and my PC’s. It allows me to easily save files, copy files, and read the files. It has a very effective media player which seems to play all the media files I have and displays spreadsheets, pdf, and various text files. This is one app that I use a lot. I am very glad that they have maintained the app through the various iOS versions.

I was skeptical of an app that seemed to do what I wanted to do with files on an iPad, and obviously the Apple version of files was completely inadequate. This application deserves to be al default application in terms of its ability to share files like a true computer. You can browse your computer as if your there, you can drag your iPad down and play a video file on your computer and stream it to your iPad anywhere in the same WiFi range without actually transferring it at all. I’m in complete awe of this app. If they could find a way to actually run programs that would just be the absolute nuts.

This is my go to app when working with files on my IPad. Works great at home connected to my NAS. The only drawback or complaint that I have is its lack of support for AFP (Apple File Protocol) which would permit secure access to my devices remotely. Instead, it offers only SMB which is blocked by many ISPs due to its inherent lack of security. DEVELOPERS...PLEASE ADD AFP TO THIS APP!!
Scott Ellsworth's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 2/27/18 5:46 AM
I have used this app for years, and it has generally been my preferred way to play files from a NAS. Previous releases were five star apps. This version has used 41% of my iPads battery in 17.5 hours of background activity. This seems like a new behavior, so once it goes back to reasonable battery usage in the background, it will go back to five stars.

Seriously the best file manager in the Apple App Store! The attention to detail and the available options for this app are outstanding. Look no further if you are wanting an easy, efficient and through way to manage your files across many different platforms. My only complaint is that it’s not available on the iMac. (Hint hint developers) Thank you Stratopherix for such a professional and customizable file manager.

I wish the app devs would just stop tinkering and redesigning the interface. The latest update now moves the video slider on the bottom which I cannot stand. It’s far easier to for me to use the slider when it’s on top on my iPad. Maybe this change makes sense for a phone user but it’s terrible for iPad users. Thanks for not giving me an option stratospherix. You kept pestering me for a review, so here’s mine.

With MacOS Server (High Sierra and Server App 5.4), FileBrowser is unable to access shared volumes made available via File Sharing for Local Network Users (users that cannot log into the server but have accounts setup via the Server app to access services on the server). This issue greatly reduces the usability of the app for our purposes. The interoperability issue may exist with other versions of MacOS and/or the Server app. Access to shares of Local Users (users that can log in the server, such as our IT administrator) appears to work fine. I am not sure if the issue is with FileBrowser app or with how Apple keeps adjusting/deprecating file serving features of MacOS. If anyone from Stratospherix can comment on whether this is a known issue, a known incompatibility, or if this is a bug that is being worked on, I would be most appreciative.

After perusing the category that would allow me to connect to my NAS, chose this one. Had a more complicated than standard setup issue, contacted support, within 24 hours they had responded and had me up and running. Cool app and support to match. Kudos! Update: This still continues to be an indispensable app AND the updates continue to improve TRULY meaningful things... not just fluff stuff. Great job whoever it is leading and coding this project.

r010159's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 12/14/17 9:14 PM
I have been using this app for years. Recently I belatedly found that I could also access the files on my PC. So right in front of me I have access to my network server, my PC, and my Dropbox files. It is interesting that photos on the iPad show up as actual files within FileBrowser that can be treated as any other file instead of having to go to the more limiting iOS Photos app. FB also has a built in server which allows other devices to exchange files with you independent of platform, such as a PC. Outstanding attention to functionality! Here is where I have been very surprised. Apple introduced their Files app recently, iOS 11. It is their first attempt at a file manager. It is limited. What is interesting is that when users want to open a file from within an app like Pages, their new file manager opens where the file can be selected. FileBrowser shows up as a selection. If you make that selection, when FileBrowser is running, you have access to all the locations for files that you have when you are in that this FB app. The locations are displayed as directories. This includes files on the PC, online storage like Dropbox, and your network servers. This is quite an enhancement for the Apples Files app. So I can open a file on my PC from within Pages or other iOS apps. This is very nice indeed!
Teriego's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 12/13/17 10:32 PM
FileBrowser can move files from just about anywhere to ... wherever or whatever app your iOS device can touch. It is also one of the better music file managers - especially if you want an iOS alternative to iTunes, or need to stream music from the cloud or off of a NAS. The most notable, and most irritating, exception to the usefulness if FileBrowser is the limited access it has to iCloud. I expect that this is an Apple issue - sandboxes and greed being what they are these days. Well, my work-around is to store files somewhere other than iCloud if I think I might need the mobility... sorry, Apple but, like Microsoft, you guys just don’t really have your users foremost in your plans. With time, users learn.
briannebales's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 12/12/18 12:31 PM
Doesn’t update the file size after saving, and leaves old text at the end of those files. Makes using this as a sftp client completely useless.

Of all the apps I own, this is my favorite. Both for productivity (moving, opening, and storing files) and fun (streaming music directly from shared folders), I have been using it for years and it only gets better. I can’t recommend it enough.

Love this app. I made the purchase for this app roughly 1 month ago in part because I setup a personal nas drive in my house which currently stores a rather large comic, book and movie collection I have. I use this app daily so I can keep my storage on my 32 gb iPad free from getting bogged down from so much storage. Highly recommend this app if you are thinking about setting off site data storages.

I still quite like this program, but it has become almost unusable under ios11. My iPad mini plays a few minutes of video and then stops. I close the program, restart and get a few more minutes. I do hope the developer can resolve this issue, as they have provided a good product for a long time.

I’ve been looking for a file browser that I can more easily view photos on and this is the best. I love that I can change the thumbnail size with a pinch gesture! I can figure out how to hide the file names under the thumbnails though, like in their tutorial videos.
Radish5555's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 11/18/17 2:25 PM
The developers listen. Quick Access Tabs are no longer automatic and date sort were fixed within 2 weeks of when I reported the problem. I keep this review current as new versions come out but there's really never anything I have to change. No lie, this is the best app purchase I've made...I use it almost daily. Not only is it rock solid and just works, the developer keeps adding features without charging for them. I read one review where the reviewer said this version lost features. Not true! If you have to manage or access files across wildly disparate environments (from real machines to "the cloud") then look no further and get this app. It’s money well spent.

One day everything’s working fine with FileBrowser on my home network. Very next day, it’s asking me for passwords—and I don’t even have any for this kind of inter-network access. So all of a sudden, I can’t get to my own files. No explanation for the change, either. Just...nothing. Unbelievable.

I keep all my files on an NAS. Not a big fan of giving up ownership of my data yet. Also, at work, we keep files on a windows server. This app makes integration between my personal iPad and those servers workable. It’s still not as easy to move files as a PC is, but it works. Definitely worth the few $$ I spent on the app.

1. Move any file to/from other computers and/or NAS 2. Open .zip files and view contents (natively or w/ other apps) 3. View picture, Play music, View iOS supported videos. 4. Stream all videos (including .ts, .mkv) to other computers or other iOS Apps (works great with nplayer). I use this tool every day which allows me not to carry around a laptop. This is one tool in the arsenal to manage Windows and Mac systems. The Oct 28 release has been stable.

With my 1000s of Photoshop PSD photos and 100s of Adobe PDFs — this app is a failure as a browser! The thumbnails used for these files are generic icons, absolutely no help in identifying files if their file name is insufficient help . When I read the reviews I was a believer that it would ease my work, but in fact it will not be used.

I've used this app for years, but recent updates have made it far less useful to me. My primary use for this app is to stream videos from a shared network drive to my Apple TV via Airplay. However, in recent updates the Airplay button in the app simply refers me to swipe up and use the Notification center Airplay button. Problem is, the Notification Center Airplay implementation only lets me "mirror", which means (1) the video comes through to my TV with a letterbox border, and (2)that I can't multitask on my iPad without disrupting the video on the TV. Please bring back useful Airplay functionality.

Get this app! Best solution I’ve found to display pc files on my Apple TV (4th generation) as well as your iPhone and iPad. Plus Filebrowser provides a slideshow feature for your photos and also streams your videos. My pc’s are running Linux which I use for network shares which I can now access using Filebrowser on both my iPhone and iPad. Very easy to setup plus excellent instructions are provided to setup a free Zerotier One VPN connection so your files are also available when you’re away from home. And the best part... excellent support! I emailed a question one afternoon and had a response the next morning.

Caayit's Review of FilebrowserReviewed on 10/2/18 1:23 PM
This app changes the way your iPhone functions. It's like having a MacBook to use next to your iPhone. You can access all the files you have on your PC and even do transfer between your Cloud accounts, just on your phone. It can play various media files, too. I haven't been able to test it on the office files yet. One question: It doesn't appear to be able to play WEBM files, which is understandable. Is there a plan to add this feature, in the future? :)

I have been using Filebrowser for several years now to move files from my desktop to my iPad, hanging in there and putting up with the klunkiness because it was still better than iTunes, which has become increasingly useless. And now Filebrowser has become equally useless. Oh, there are slick new features — it will SCAN for other computers on the network, and ask you about them before assuming they’re all Windows boxes! You have a private folder now, and one you can share with other apps!... for what *that’s* worth. Because now you can no longer just open a file in the appropriate app. It DOES NOT RECOGNIZE an epub or mobi file as a book format, let alone know the app that reads them. I can no longer move pdfs using Filebrowser into Goodreader. In fact, unless you want to use Pages, Numbers, or Keynote, it apparently doesn’t export non-video/audio files at all. It doesn’t even really export video/audio, either — just streams them. Deinstalling this now-worthless piece of software as soon as this is posted.

I tap close but soon as I tap the folder im presented with the same two options create folder or record voice command. The only times I used my laptop was to put photos, videos, and documents on a USB drive for safe keeping.
