I've tried many free and paid Japanese dictionaries. Out of all of them, I'd say Midori is the best. Name dictionary, multiple options of display for information regarding kanji study systems, examples, and more.

I love the bookmark function to be able to save words for later review. Conjugations for the win! Some of the example sentences are a little odd but help put in context how to use words grammatically. I would love to see antonyms as sometimes searches don’t net what you need without some digging. If you are studying Japanese this a great tool and works offline which is awesome.

Overall it’s good, it’s like a combination of Japanese and Imiwa. But it’s quite inconvenient because there is no option for an account. I get it that the users are able to save the words on the app on the device they’re using. But if I use both my phone and ipad, whenever I switch the device, I dont have any words to practice. Hopefully, this issue will be noticed and updated.

This application continues to be the very best Japanese dictionary available on iOS. Stroke-order agnostic handwriting recognition, SKIP and radical search, among plenty of other features, all with a very clean interface that is easy to use.

This is by far the best Japanese dictionary on either iOS or Android. The fact that you can search via word, sample sentence, and even name is super useful. Also, I’ve found that the quality of the database itself is superior to other apps (better definitions, more definitions, etc). Props to the developer for maintaining such a useful app. It was well worth installing.

So a lot of people like both imiwa and Japanese dictionaries... which is fine they are both great apps but I found that Japanese doesn't have an analysis sections... but I loved the layout...while imiwa's layout I didn't really like it...tbh it was just a little too much going on but I liked the conjugation section... but I wanted both of the features in one app and I found it with Midori sure you have to pay.. but this is a great app that is constantly updated those other two apps haven't been updated since 2014 that's not good because it means there entries that could be old and not used in daily Japanese conversation and the entry's that are so old that they may not help if your looking for a particular word... :( 😞 but midori is updated and has great features and benefits they have a new feature for writing kanji that will benefit me because I don't know stroke order and when I write the kanji it doesn't ever come up but now I can write the kanji and it will recognise the kanji that I'm looking for! 😆😆😆 I wouldn't say the other ones aren't worth downloading but considering that this app is constantly changing and updating for the better and has more entries that are useful to daily conversation and learning I would definitely recommend this app to anyone who wanted a Japanese dictionary that's worth taking up space on your phone and can actually help with searching for kanji, Japanese names and kanji using example sentence!! 😄😄🤘🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lived in Japan 14 years. This is by far the most convenient and flexible dictionary. A must have for learning and communicating in Japanese.

It's useless without info about where the accent is in a word. It also doesn't provide sample pronunciation. Useless in learning Japanese. I can google for simply translation purposes.
