So upset. I had a great app, easy to use in the field. They have brought back last name sorts & A-Z. But, takes several steps To get there. Not quick enough for field use. Such a shame. Not meant for mobile app. Wish I could get back my old reliable app And the ability to find local bird sightings is no longer easy or useful. used to be nice

This app no longer works on my iPhone 8 11.4.01. None of the photos are viewable there is just a black screen where the photos should be. Secondly the lag time when typing in the search is frustratingly long. I can type out most of the species name before even the first letter appears in the search box. I have deleted the app and reinstalled the app a number of times. It has a lot of great info but it needs to be updated.
Brookegilbert's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/4/18 4:49 PM
The pictures and bird info are great. In the previous version you could look and see where others are finding birds. Now I can just look at my immediate area and “hot spots” which is showing birds found 2-3 months ago. Please bring back the old version.

This is an excellent app as I’m getting started becoming a birder. I’d love to give it a rating of a five, and I will if I don’t have to name every location . As a new birder I am entering a lot of first sightings, and I’d like to just use the location based on the map and not have to give it a custom name. Other than that this app has everything I need.

pkdarmstrong's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/27/18 6:58 PM
I recently took a vertebrate zoology course and really enjoyed the class! Audubon was instrumental in facilitating my interest in ornithology and bird watching. My favorite feature is being able to just click on a bird and get the identification information. The Bird ID feature is extremely helpful, it just makes seeing new species so much more exciting! Audubon provides scientific names, calls, habitats, breeding habits, etc. of hundred of species. Going out in the morning to bird watch just a little way from my college or apartment is wonderful. Going outside into nature and learning classification skills has made learning biology as my major a great experience! Thanks, Audubon!
ShanaBee613's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/27/18 11:17 PM
Love this app! I became a huge bird fan from exploring this app! It is so fascinating to learn how many different types of birds there are, in our own backyards! I love the feature that shows the map of where the birds are most commonly found. I also like the feature that shows the nearest bird watching sights! One annoying thing about this app- crashes frequently and the find the “Bird ID” is not so easy to use.
greenbird713's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/25/18 5:44 PM
I’m newer to bird watching and I have found this app to be very helpful in identifying some of the birds in my area. I also like that you can use the app offline since some of the spots I go do not have good reception. The app has been easy to use and I would recommend it to others.

Latest update fixed my crash issue! I wish you could still sort by rare or common on the bird id and why aren’t the results listed alphabetically? Doesn’t really seem to be much rime or reason on how they’re ordered. Still good app. Use it all the time. But.... I still like the old version better.
JohnnyTen's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/24/18 1:11 PM
The app has a new problem now, when I’ve selected a bird to add a sighting, it will not show any locations, there is nothing on that screen, so I cannot add a sighting! Come on, please fix this, it’s my favorite bird app, And I would be happy to make a donation if you guys can get this fixed.

Murfl's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/2/18 11:40 AM
I used to lovethe Audobon app the best of all my birding apps. No longer! Whoever thought this was an improvement? It is not designed to work on an iPad any longer, just the iPhone. So it crashes after two minutes, every single time. I cannot use it at all. I used to be able to use the local sightings to help with identification, now, ( in my limited two minutes), the complicated process might let me know someone saw a robin. But there certainly is no list. Audobon, your good name is being tarnished by this app. Folks, go elsewhere!
Postrocksound's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/17/18 10:43 PM
Locked out of this app for months because no one wants to sign up. Saw lots of complaints. You switched it and apologized then switched it back. Now even after using Facebook to sign in and giving you my info no name I choose fits the new requirement for an account name?? The requirements aren’t listed so I have no way of knowing the criteria. iPhone 5s, most current version of app.
Cinnamon Snowflake's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/13/18 12:18 PM

Ldst's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/12/18 3:52 PM
I no longer have the app I paid for, Birds and Butterflies. It simply eased to exist. And to make matters worst, I can’t even get into the latest version. It doesn’t recognize my email address so I can not even create a password. This is obviously useless to me. I will now have to look for an alternate app.
FirstChAoS's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/10/18 4:19 AM
I admit I preferred the older version. It’s ebird interface was easier to use and easier to find the birds I want near me. Sadly you have not brought back the other Audubon guides. Since they are unusable now I deleted the regional guides. I may delete the mammal Guide to replace it with Peterson’s. What an miss most was the fish Guide though.
XLake218's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 8/1/18 3:02 AM
This is yet another textbook example of what once was a truly great app for bird reference that has now been driven into the ground. They got my money, turned the app into a complete joke, and are laughing at all of us fools. Stay away from this garbage, there are better apps than this.
Nicknackhackmack's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/9/18 6:52 AM
You have improved the app in minor ways, but in no ways that people want. Like previous people have mentioned, it is now impossible to see all the locations birds have been seen at near you, and you can only look at locations that are hotspots. Another thing that I am saddened to see gone is the rarity section. Always found it nice to skip right to the good stuff and the the rare birds that were seen in your area. Also, nature share is horrible now, and I think everyone can agree with that. Why was all this removed? P.S -App still crashes!
bethel95's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/9/18 3:56 AM
I’m really enjoying the feature set in the latest version of this app, but I keep encountering really annoying bugs. For example, I’ve somehow got duplicates of the same sighting on my sightings list for one bird, but am unable to delete the duplicate entry--I keep getting a message that I need to connect the Internet, even though my phone is on LTE. Another example: It’s nice to have a recent sightings list, but it’s not helpful when you can’t scroll it! There’s also a “connect to the internet” message overlaying and obfuscating the list entries that I can see. Finally, what’s the point of having a recent sightings list if you can’t tap an entry and bring up a map showing siding location? Hopefully, all these issues will be fixed in the next version, but in the meantime it makes for an awfully frustrating user experience.

despat70's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/26/18 5:05 PM
I love Audobon and what they stand for but this is a poor app. It is difficult to use and the Bird ID feature does not work. You have to have taken a picture of the bird you want to report a sighting of which I can understand would be very useful but on my device a picture from farther than three feet is useless.
zorans63's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/26/18 2:26 AM
It has the potential of being a great app if it only worked without the wifi connection. The problem I am encountering is that the data portion does not download to my iPhone 7. It starts downloading and then stalls after 50sh Mb. After many uninstalls and installs it still does not show images or bird calls. I had no such problem with an earlier version. A fix is desperately neaded. I would give it 5 stars if it worked, So it gets 3 stars because it only works with an internet connection.
bobegee's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/25/18 6:20 PM
I loved the previous versions because it was easy to find a particular bird by family name. In particular, I looked for a catbird entry. If I didn’t know it was a gray catbird I would not have found it. If I were looking for a type of sparrow, it was easy to find it in the sparrow category. Please go back to the original interface. I previously rated this app at 5 stars.
Elusive Bird's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/25/18 1:30 PM
I live in an urban area and hear/see a certain bird daily in my neighborhood that I cannot find on this app. The ID feature is pretty cumbersome, and does not get me any birds with a song like this one. There is no feature to search for bird sightings in the larger area, very disappointing. The hotspot map is pretty useless unless you want to know someone saw an american robin in your park yesterday. Also, most importantly, I gave one star because the app crashes constantly. Especially when scrolling through the bird finder results. Pretty useless- have given it my best try, but decided to delete.
Off10cr8tive's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/21/18 8:22 PM
I love to use this app when I am traveling and see a new bird. It used to be so easy to look up by location, month, color, type of bird. Now I have an interface that smashes words and only seems clear when asking for a donation. I don’t know much about birds. I’m having problems looking them up by name. I didn’t download the reference guide biI wasn’t sure I wanted it. Now I can’t find where to get it. Darn. I believe I paid for this app 4 years ago. Now they say it’s free but I have to give them my email to help them out if they need some research in my area. It’s a lot of change here for an app that no longer works on my Apple 6 phone. Ugh! Frustrated on vacation.

GotDMBLove?'s Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/12/18 4:38 PM
I had been experiencing issues with the app crashing on certain pages so that I couldn’t log bird sightings. The developers reached out to me to figure out exactly what the issue was, and with the most recent update it works like a charm again! Great customer service. I like the search features to determine what kind of bird I’m seeing, and of course the ability to log them in my mobile life list. Especially as a new birder, this app is great for helping me identify birds in the field.
KestrelHill's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/11/18 1:35 AM
I assumed the glitchyness and tendency to crash was the fault of the aging iPod Touch I used it on. I should have read the reviews... I use the app on my iPod so I’m not able to connect with data in the field. I HAVE to be able to download the field guide, or it’s useless! I started the ‘few minutes’ process at 6:05 pm. It was still loading when I returned home over three hours later. In the six weeks since I’ve owned this device (6th gen iPod Touch) I have installed, force-quit, deleted, reinstalled and anything else I could think of, and the app still doesn’t work unless I’m home by my wifi which is hardly optimal birdwatching conditions. I’m disappointed, because this really was my favorite app, especially for bird song. I’ve used it since the days when I had to pay for it! But I’m switching to Merlin for a free app, and buying Sibley. Sorry, it’s been good to know you.
uranographer's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/10/18 4:35 PM
This app worked better before the major update awhile back. It no longer proliferates bird guide photos, and the seasonal range maps also don't proliferate.
CD Wyte's Review of Audubon Bird GuideReviewed on 7/10/18 3:03 PM
For sure, this app is worth having, but it is equally frustrating. I enter all the items to identify any bird, even a crow, and it finds zero results. I enter my sighting with a photo, and it gives me no information or means by which to size the photo to suit this app. So, I get a photo showing about one fifth of a bird. However, the info on a bird, once I find it, is excellent. One useful feature to add would be that a description includes a short list like, “Often Confused With ...” or “Similar To ...” or “See also ...”

This Audubon app helped me realize how much I love our precious wild birds and want them to have a safe, healthy environment to survive in. Audubon helps to fight for them for us all. Please consider donating and learning how to help. (Please trap and at least spay all feral cats. And, secondly don’t let non-indigenous reptiles, snakes and all house cats (which are all non-indigenous), outdoors to kill them. Please help wild birds survive!)

I’m a novice in the bird world but it has been a fun experience to pull this app up and be able to hear the different calls of the birds that are around when I can’t see them. I kind of wish there was a way to download the recordings to use for my phone’s ringtones, that would be neat! I like the fact that the maps are shown where the traditional areas the migratory birds are, and it’s great that I can expect different sightings based on the colored maps.

Hard to find a bird by name only. Your site needs better cross referencing. For example: Try to look up "Junco". If you look under "J" you draw a blank. If you look up "Slate colored Junco" you draw another blank. Very frustrating.

I’m new to ornithology. That said, this app has become an invaluable resource. From identifying a distinct bird call, or figuring out the type of bird I’ve just encountered. I love being able to learn so quickly what a certain bird eats, nests with, eggs hatched, etc. This app is definitely great for all age groups and level of birding ability. Heck even my 4 year old nephew loves it for the “birdy songs”. This app is by far, better than the other bird identifier apps, including the pay apps.
