Ok this is a great app. I was lookin for something like noteshelf and goodnotes for the iPhone and ended up getting this. Although writing is not as fluid and precise as noteshelf/goodnotes it gets the job done especially on the phone. I am able to import PDFs from drop box no problem and export to photo album (not many apps can do this). BUT PLEASE upgrade so it can be used in landscape on the iPhone. It is very hard to write on the iPhone in portrait. Thanks! (Ps it comes with manuscript paper for the musicians out there, that's what I use a lot and helpful to know before purchase)

Great app----except please allow for notes to switch sides for page notes. When it's updated for us left-handers, this will be a 5 star app.

Wonderful app for sketchnoting. Dropbox support, a selection tool that lets you select ANYTHING and resize, move, cut and paste as well as intuitive controls for pen size and color adjustment is wonderful. This app also has one of the smoothest handwriting gesturing, much like penultimate however beats it with the multitude of other features including almost an incredible pinch and zoom as well as the ability to import pics into your sketchnotes. I feel as though some the low ratings by a few others are not warranted. This is a great app and with the responsiveness I have seen thus far from the developers, I am sure will be one the best in this field. Having said that, on my wishlist for this app will be: 1. improvements in the use of the palm with this app, 2. the ability to create a pens w predefined colors and sizes and 3. the ability to have gesture enabled zoom modes for a) Fit page to window and b) last zoom mode. This is a feature I really like in the brushes app. To wrap up...my recommendation: this is a keeper.

Good app, but it should have a 'Save as Image' or 'Email as JPEG' or any image format.

This app is amazing and for the price it's a bargain. The only thing the app is missing is the ability to add custom backgrounds in order to have customized notebooks. If you are curious about this app at all, just get it. It's a great note taking app for anyone trying to ditch paper for digital ink. You won't be disappointed. -policarpo

Confusing sometimes though.

I like this app because it strikes a balance between the apps designed for quick note taking and the ones designed for complicated work. Many of the apps designed for quick work have some limitation -- notes cannot exceed one page, there is no zoom feature, the notes cannot be stored in collections, etc. Many of the apps designed for more detailed work have so many features, or features so complex or requiring so much set up, that you might not be inclined to grab one of them just to make a simple note on the fly. Pen and Paper has just enough features for both simpler and more complicated work. With it, you can use your handwriting, type, insert, pan and zoom, import, share, and store. There is no "zoom box" at the bottom of the page, but the pan and zoom feature is very good and includes an autoscrolling capability, so, your handwriting can be clear and readable (even on the iPhone). Because the app can be set for autoscrolling, the pages don't pick up stray marks from your fingers when the pages moves along as you write. Typed notes can be centered or either left or right aligned, and inserted shapes can easily be made into text boxes. The app works on both the iPad and the iPhone, and you can sync data between devices via the cloud. Cloud sharing can be selective, which means that you can keep more private documents off the cloud at the same time that you can share other ones.
