Sometimes I like to program it once for about an hour before the event and once again closer to the actual time. This isn’t a problem for me but I don’t understand on the main screen the time options given. I just don’t use this feature. If I understood it maybe I would but it’s working for me as it is. Reviewed on 9/23/18 8:04 PMUnfortunately the developers added ads to the ap. Yes the ads are for their own upgrade but it is large taking up the space one reminder would use, is always showing, and it has been weeks. I didn’t know I would be forced to buy the ap again at every incremental release (3.0 to 3.1 - eg bug fixes and minor changes) or have to live with ads after having used the ap for such a short time. Very disappointing and obviously the way the developers intend the product to continue as the ads for the updated due not only were emailed to me but have been in the ap for weeks now (not just a day or two or even one week which is quite long for an ap used daily).

Reviewed on 9/1/18 11:46 AM2018 Observations After not using Due for a few years, I went back to start using it again only to find there is no widget. Really ?!? I use Things and Wunderlist to my work and personal to-dos, and was going to use Due for the super important must do today things. Things and Wunderlist and my calendar app all have widgets which is convenient and efficient since I can see all my info on one page. Due not having a widget means it will hinder my workflow instead of enhancing it since I have to remember to open the app. Will give it a re-try anyway. —————————————————————————— Original Review from years ago This is a nice enough app, but definitely not worth $4.99. A free calendar apps reminder function can do what this app does. Pros: Pretty design and a little more convenient than a free calendar apps reminder function. Cons: Not worth the money. ICloud doesn't sync continually - only on app launch and exit. Free calendar app can do what this app does. Doesn't show the date you first made the reminder. So if you keep postponing a To Do, you have no idea how long you've been postponing it or the date you had originally wanted to do it. Major oversight and annoyance.

But it is too easy to let a reminder slip by there, and forget to deal with a critical bill payment or one of the few other things must happen on a particular deadline. Due is a perfect fit for those things, since I can postpone the reminders for a short period of time and it will keep reminding me. In other words I can ask it to nag me until I get this particular thing done, which is sometimes exactly what I need! It fills a critical part in my task management, and I just upgraded to Due v3 which has some nice features already, and more to come. Glad to support ongoing development of this great App!

Reviewed on 8/31/18 2:46 AMMostly superior to Reminders app for the fire features that it replaces but it doesn't replace all aspects of Reminders. The biggest deficiencies are the inability to organize reminders into lists and the inability to set up reminders without an associated time alert. For example, I routinely use Reminders app for things like a shopping list. I can set up a specific list of items that I need from, say, the hardware store and only reference the list when I'm at the store. Not possible with Due. It doesn't support multiple lists and insists that a reminder time be set for all items. For that reason, it won't earn a spot on my iPhone.

Last written the above s***** review many years ago. Now it’s Aug 30 2018. Due v3 released. Already found a bug - if you don’t type in anything, just a blank due task, it doesn’t push notification to you. Very nice so far, the notification has been updated to be interactive format. Wished the number of buttons can be customised but alas. The crash bug in v2 where you double swipe clear a task has been fixed. Black theme meh. Worth paying $2.99 if you are a new user for sure, or maybe even a paid v1.0 user like me. Sometimes notifications get stuck but it seems to be local to phone issue. Not sure yet. Let’s see how v3.0 does. Author says he got more new useful features coming.. let’s see. Will update as time comes. Update 31 Aug 2018: I was wrong, it still crashes when trying to double swipe clear the same task. Can’t believe it. This developer needs to install Fabric or something and solve this crash bug that’s been around for 2 years.

I use those calendars to mark the dates and locations of jobs I’ve booked. Every morning when I get in and afternoon before I leave, I look at that calendar to remind me of the jobs I have booked. I have not missed a job in all of those 26 years. Almost all of those jobs repeat on the same DAY, not DATE, each year. Imagine my excitement when I went to the repeat function. Rolled to month and saw that I could repeat reminders on the particular day (1st Monday, 2nd Monday etc) of the month I was setting the reminder for. But one more click from monthly to yearly and the availability to set reminders to repeat on a day of the month was gone. Do you realize how many annual events repeat on the same day of the month? Almost All Of Them! From festivals to fundraisers, they do the same DAY(s)annually. Why would you create an app (a well thought out one I might add) omitting this crucial feature. I’m sure there are many businesses that book annual events. Most all annual events repeat on the same DAY OF THE YEAR. If having to go into an app every year and update the day, I may as well stay with paper wall calendars. After 26 years, Due came the closest to allowing me to replace my paper wall calendars with a pictures of my beautiful wife. But alas, she must still hold a less honorable location on my office wall as another app I’ve purchased doesn’t have the functionality to replace them. Add an annual day of the year repeat function and color coding reminders and it’s a five star app for me.

UI Guy's Review of Due
Reviewed on 12/2/18 12:54 PMI’m not sure this is still true, but when Due was first released, it was the only task manager on iOS that supported auto-snoozing/repeating a reminder. But Due has more tricks up its sleeve than just that. There’s a nifty feature that lets you specify 12 different “standard” times or periods when snoozing or scheduling a task. E.g., I have mine set of with 3 static times (8:30AM, when I’m getting ready to leave for work, 1:30PM, my after-lunch time to address urgent personal to-dos, and 8:00PM, when I’m home from work and I’ve eaten. So when I create a new to do, it’s efficient and easy to decide whether I want to accomplish this particular task as I’m getting ready to leave for work, while I’m at work (e.g., for contacting customer support for something when I know they’ll only be there during regular business hours), or after I get home. Of course you can always enter a custom date/time, but theee predefined values are a timesaver. I then have defined 6 dynamic periods, or lengths, of time to specify: +10 minutes, +15 minutes, +1 hour, +3 hours, +1 day, and –10 minutes, –1 hour, –3 hours, –1 day. These are displayed in the interface as buttons, so you can tap any one of them to add(/subtract) that amount of time to the cumulative length. So if I want to snooze some task for 30 minutes, I tap +15 twice. You can have any combination of static (exact) times and lengths of time. This is SUCH A CLEVER WAY to approach this interaction problem. As an IxD myself, I’m especially impressed. Due also has a very flexible yet powerful repeating task editor. There’s a log for completed to dos. You can save any number of countdown alarms each with each with a unique sound. You have the option of syncing your iOS native reminder tasks with Due (on a list-by-list basis). There are even some nice interface touches like different themes and fonts (not gimmicky, but really understated and elegant). Get Due! You won’t be sorry!!

There is an interesting effect about writing down what to do and being reminded of it again and again as I sometimes end up not feeling like doing it. I may choose to delay it by an hour, three hours, or a day, but I actually end up doing the task eventually more than likely (I began to think more seriously about the power and benefits of writing down long-term goals and recite it every morning, too). Another huge takeaway from Due is its elegant design and intuitive UI and UX. I make a living as a programmer and often feel challenged or lost when trying to keep the UI clean and simple (Yes, I have enormous respect for those UI and UX designers who make this internet-driven, device-saturated 21st century a better, more livable place).
