Reviewed on 9/27/19 2:16 PMI was really in love with this app until I realized there is no passcode or Touch ID option. Privacy is a big part of why I use these apps for my writing. If I am missing something let me know. It is a significant oversight.

Reviewed on 9/27/19 2:16 PMI absolutely love Byword!! I am a fairly prolific blogger and post on numerous sites. Byword makes it so much easier and faster to do my thing. I also love that I can write a few words, leave the app on one device and come back to it on another without missing a beat. Highly recommend this app.

Reviewed on 9/27/19 2:16 PMI originally picked Byword up for some edits to a markdown document I was working on. Soon, it became my go-to editor, whether I am using it for writing a post, a README, or an action plan. Today I was hunting around for a .fountain editor for my iPhone and remembered that it was just markdown. Opened the file in Byword and off to the races again! You will keep finding uses for it.

Reviewed on 9/27/19 2:16 PMByword is my go-to distraction free writing app on the Mac and I used it on iOS for a while— but unfortunately the slow Dropbox syncing led me to explore other solutions for iOS. It seems like updates this year might have fixed this so hopefully it’s better now. I had Byword configured for a Dropbox folder that I use for journal entries and it has a couple hundred markdown files in it plus two sub folders with some text, markdown and a couple of old rtf (rich text) files in them. When I opened up Byword it would hang on ‘Downloading items’ or ‘Syncing Items’ for minutes and it made me nervous to open recent files and create possible conflicts in my Dropbox. That was a big blocker when I just wanted to open the app and start writing. I recently reinstalled the app and also removed the rtf files from this Dropbox folder (just in case) and things seem to be better— fingers crossed.

Reviewed on 9/27/19 2:16 PMMy only complaint is that there isn’t a typewriter mode like there is on the Mac App. It’s not something I’d deduct a star for, but I surely would like that feature. *hint, hint* If you’re listening, folks at Byword..

Reviewed on 9/27/19 2:16 PMApp requires you to swipe up at a weird angel to reveal the 3 dots then you can click that to show where the markdown preview button is. This is very annoying Also the app doesn't have any shortcuts to do the markdown preview which is very annoying since you already have a multi step process to render your HTML. Lastly the app doesn't recognize the '###' header which to me felt like a trivial thing to support as it is a
