I use this app for YouTube videos off my iPhone X (up to date iOS wise and no issues) I use a Rode Videomicro mic that works on EVERY other app even stock camera app. This app it works, then randomly MID video it turns the mic off. Ruined a few videos already. Thanks. Now the recordings. So many of my clips and recordings at the end have been cut off, even when I let the recording go for a extra 10 seconds “just in case” OR the last 10-20 seconds of my actual recording it’s a frozen frame. I’ve NEVER had such bad videos until I got this app. Not worth the money till fixed. They’ll just say it’s only me like every other app dev but trust me. It’s not just me. Look in forums and groups. Not worth it. Getting a refund.

Easily the best if not the greatest app in your arsenal of filmography. It’s like having two-face from Batman; it has a simplicity to it and when you want to go pro, bang it show its u*** side, there are more then advance features all within the same app. My only con I can express for this app is not having full support for my Shiyun smooth q. Given that most guys are gearing up with either the dji osmo or the shiyun smooth q you would think they would carry both brands to maximize profit but I sadly can’t say that. Other then that this app has replace my stock camera app. I would loudly suggest for anybody thinking of making this purchase to also consider acquiring LumaFusion. Great app guys keep it up!!!!!!

Filmic Pro V6 is an excellent app for video capture. However it is extremely poor! If you save your clips to their video player, there is no way to directly export the clips to to your PC. It used to be that you could use iTunes. However, with iTunes V12.7, that functionality has been removed. It Appears that Apple wants you to upload your clip to the cloud. With 10’s a GB of clips, that is total unreasonable, especially when you need them on your computer for quality editing. I have 150 clips from a recent four day trip. Getting them to my camera roll and then to my PC has been an nightmare. What’s worse is that there is no User Forum that I can find for users to share solutions for these kinds of problems. Pretty much all I can find is promo stuff hyping Filmic Pro. It is extremely frustrating trying to find solutions and all you see is spam! I love Filmic Pro and it’s integration with my Zhiyun Smooth 4 gimbal, but I can’t stand the major hassle of managing the clips. I’m looking for a better iOS video capture tool.

I’m a professional videographer. I’m not that keen on mobile imaging anyway, but after updating to iOS 12 Filmic Pro won’t work for me at all no matter what I do. Adios, Filmic Pro! Pros don’t have time for this. Waste your own if you want to.

why dont work in iphone 5s?

I paid for log and it doesn’t support on my iphone 6 plus.

Only complaint I have is on the iPhone XS they finally support stereo audio but. The filmic app still uses one mic for both channels which is the soul purpose of why I upgraded to the XS Please fix 🙏

I love this app! The recording quality and options are second to none!

I’ll make this short and simple. If you want to shoot in anything higher than 30fps then most of the features of this app will not work. No focus peaking, false color, zebra stripes, log or any other picture profiles. The worst part is you don’t know this until you’ve spent the money. I hope someone reads this and I save them the headache.

This is an awesome app. I love being able to make cinema like videos with my phone but my problem now it it constantly crashes on my new iPhone X’s max. Please fix this. Thank you.

I’m having problem since I switched my iPhone to new iPhone Xs Max. Whenever I open the app and turn my phone to landscape the app screen turns totally green and I can’t see anything and when I rotate it back to normal mode it runs fine. I don’t know what is the issue. But if anyone is reading this comment from filmic pro app team please fix this issue and update your app so it can run smooth on iPhone Xs Max.

App crashes can’t even use it !! Please fix.. other Than the compatibility issues with the newest iPhone device this app is absolutely amazing, quick and easily accessible controls and great quality app.. just fix this version cuz it’s driving me nuts lol.!

Can’t open the white balance screen without the app crashing.

Considering the price of the app, it should have been updated even before the release of the new iPhone series. It’s not some free app but a quite pricey one, so we expect it to be up to date and don’t want to wait for an update to be eventually released.

For some reason the app keeps freezing before I can even take a video. I frame up the shot, start tweaking the settings and it freezes for a long time and sometimes crashes. I would love to rate this app higher but it’s just unusable in this current state.

I love the app. Used it all the time on my iPhone 7s with zero issues. Just upgraded to the iPhone Xs Max and the app crashed 5 seconds after opening. I’d love to give them 5 stars but I can’t even open the app anymore. Hopefully there’s an update soon.

App keeps crashing on iPhone xs max

Glad to see external mics are fully supported on IOS 12. Dev seems very on top of keeping app up to date which is good concerning the seemingly high cost of entry. Excellent value and this app bundle (picked up the camera duo) has allowed me to use my iPhone x as part of a professional setup for my youtube channel without investing in a new camera. I LOVE that I can use my iPad as a viewfinder and controller. That alone was worth it. Love this app.

Recent mini break led to me finding out that every bit of the video that I took with the app ended up not recording anything. All of the permissions were given and I double checked inside his settings to make sure that the permissions were given. However the whole weekend was a loss. What’s up with that?

When stabilization is on, it crashes in a few seconds.

iPhone 7, completely freezes my phone... Cant exit out with home button or anything. I have to reset my phone when I open the app... It's really cool the 1/3 (guesstimate) times it works though.

This app was wonderful when I started using it but now that it supports smooth 4. It took it to a new level. Thanks for the update

The best thing about this app are the controls. I use Moment and Movi gear and app and Filmic is still top notch. I only wish that Moment and Movi gear would finally get some live in the hardware section.

Half the time I can review clips bc the playback button is so temperamental that the clips won’t open... make it at least as equally as large as the record button... just a thought.

This release is freaking awesome! It has everything I need and now Zhiyun smooth 4integration. I had been using the OSMO but have been playing with a friends Zhiyun and plan to switch to that straightaway! Awesome update!

Mics that work fine with iPhone camera don’t work with Filmic Pro, making it mostly worthless for my purposes.

Yes I am on a beta. But. Everything seems to work ok with this app except detecting external microphones. I have found others with the same problem. My whole setup is fine, it is NOT a hardware issue. I downgraded to iOS 11 and it worked fine. Wish I had known because now I can’t use this $20 app until the GM drops and I hope it’ll work then. Hopefully FP checks it out in the meantime because this really grinds my gears I can’t use it for what I bought it for.

I have iPhone 6s but I don’t all fonction that is very 😞 I love to have those future if you have 6s don’t buy this app because the iPhone doesn’t have all fonction

Writing an updated review. The iPhone video camera is remarkably good. I’m using Filmic Pro on an iPhone 8+, and this app gives me manual control over just about everything. I can lock and manually control focus, exposure, and even color temperature. There are various profiles to shoot with that allow for better post-production color correction. I love how well Filmic Pro and LumaFusion work together as an acquisition/post suite, all on a single device. The interface is well thought out and easy to use, once you get used to it. Being able to bring up focus peaking, zebras, and other overlays with a touch makes it remarkably easy to make sure I’m getting exactly the image I want. This app has allowed me to leave my DSLR home for many of my professional recording sessions. I just added Filmic Remote to my toolkit. I’ve only used it in circumstances where I have a strong wifi network so far, but it works really well. It’s incredibly useful to be able to control the iPhone camera without touching it, and pretty much all of the tools you’d use in Filmic Pro are readily available in Filmic Remote. Well worth the price!

Bought the app hoping that I would be able to shoot in log mode. Spent my $15.00 when in app realized that I’m unable to access log mode. Attempted to buy the kit for $9.00 it’s giving me iTunes error because the app allows me to buy the app but not allows me to make the in app purchase because of country ... all these disclaimers should be laid out in the app so people don’t make the first purchase and then end up with a useless partial app.... totally annoyed

Does the app already support the new Røde VideoMic Me L? I attached the mic to my iPhone X and loaded the app and all it gives me is the iPhone Mic Front/Back/Bottom. Is the bottom one the Røde mic?

Hidden in the footnotes a bazillion paragraphs into the description is the fact that you’ll need to pay extra to unlock flat and log picture profiles. Come on, guys. Charge $20-25 for the entire thing and include these options from the get-go. No amateur who doesn’t want to peak at histograms and lock exposure is going to use Filmic Pro anyway, and those who do will pay $10 bucks more. Otherwise it’s a great app and definitely a significant upgrade to the iPhone camera app.

Previous to this update, I was getting messed up audio when I used my iConnectivity Audio2+ interface. Now it works perfectly with the new audio framework.

I really hope they go back to the previous version. UPDATE: after setting up recording parameters and recording, app crashes every time and reverts to previous settings (including zoom, exposure, shutter speed, and aperture). Very, VERY frustrating! ----- My Response to developer response: Why do you want me to update my review? I just recently posted it and nothing has changed. I really don't want to spend more time RElearning the new version of Filmic Pro. It's not intuitive.

It wasn’t clear anywhere that the cinematographer kit was an add on. Disappointed because this is a $5 app with out it imo. However all combined this app is $25 and, that’s high🤦🏻‍♂️

i use this with my iphone 7plus, works great with image stabilization and the dual camera. 4k at 100mbps is awesome. the user manual is easy to read and very helpful. presets are a good idea but i wish they could be edited/overwritten instead of deleted. don’t use PCM audio if editing in premiere, it won’t work. and maybe some added customisation options overall would be nice, such as being able to hide/relocate tools, a full screen filmic library.

This is one of the most well thought out apps I have ever worked with. It seems like the more I work with it the more I discover options and abilities that take my videos to the next level. You can tell there are so many features that have been well designed. The controls are very intuitive and natural I just wish these guys would start making other apps like games :-) Also put a camera shot button on the screen for me! :-)

$14.99 USD for the app. Oh hey, did you want access to shadow gains/highlights? Oh hey, how about color balance, saturation, vibrance? That’s all good stuff right? TOO BAD. 🖕 YOU GIVE ME MORE MONEY!!

I must say I’m disappointed this is not a full package despite the price. I cannot claim the in-purchase was hidden, but I still feel a bit mislead by the “Pro” that I was buying a somewhat comprehensive set of features. It’s on me to keep an eye on that for next time. The default features are OK.

I can not save anything above 60fps to my camera roll? iPhone 7 plus current software release? Help???

99% of the time (rough guess) footage gets saved and the app is great to control. It reliably loses footage when phone shuts down mid shoot due to depleted battery, but that can be understood as an edge case. Once after shooting a 2-hour timelapse (a frame each 30 sec) the footage haven’t gotten saved. App didn’t crash, battery was well in the green and storage plenty. Footage never appeared in Photos, seems to exist in app’s built-in roll as a corrupted entry, from where an invalid file can be saved to iCloud Files (I’ll try fiddling with it on laptop later). I don’t know whether it’s out of the realm of possibility given iOS APIs but as an engineer I would try ensuring the footage gets continuously recorded into a backup file which does not get deleted until the output is saved and double-checked. With a low-FPS timelapse like I often do there’s so little data to write even if it shoots for hours, maintaining 2 or 3 backup files simultaneously would not be an issue and could possibly save a whole lot of frustration. Being able to shoot a timelapse with fixed ISO/exposure is great and something you can’t do with iPhone’s built-in timelapse feature. White balance UI is not really clear when I use a white sheet—I hit the tiny AWB button and try to guess whether it worked or not as there seems little feedback.

-display orientation issue even when locked -manual control of iso & shutter speed not functional in zoom mode -max, min iso limit changes arbitrarily -no way to lock shutter speed in saved presets. Constantly struggling to keep shutter speed twice the FPS for cinematic look. Especially Annoying changing settings Thru pop up arc dials outdoors even on large iPhone X . - zoom in-out-dial arc overlaps with record And setting buttons. - no constant display of shutter speed while shooting. -paid extra for log format but they have no lut to use in Final Cut Pro etc. -extremely difficult to dial exact shutter speed of 48, 60,120,240 etc. I shoot on iPhone outdoors , which has - changing lighting conditions. I am fiddling more with dials and menus of this app than capturing moments. - poor/missing customer support when I sent them email about the above issues

If you enjoy shooting video on your phone or just want to learn, this app was made for you. Current average rating of 3.5 stars and I don’t why. I assume DPs are checking this app out and sad that a few “key features” are missing. This app and developer owe me nothing. I’m happy and excited about everything it offers. Seriously. There are limits but that’s when your creative problem solving really sets in. Can’t say enough good things about this app. Worth every penny. It has changed my life. I shoot so much more often and enjoy learning the best ways to use the app. Thanks for making this for us. Truly appreciate it.

In the beginning I have lags so I talk with costumer support and I just reinstall the app and that’s it.

After all the hype I paid for filmic pro to go with my stabilizer. After linking the app and filming with it, my iPhone SE heated up terribly. I used the phone without the stabilizer and yet again it heats up. No other app I have (lumafusion, film graders, pho editors, etc.) does this. I have read of other users having this problem, and when they ask for help, they have to change this and do that, not me! Didn’t buy this for a hassle. There are others that don’t have this issue, fix it and I will up my rating. Won’t hold my breath.

It’s a great app for the price but it has its downsides it will record fine but when I play the video that I recently recorded halfway through the video the audio is not in line with the video please fix this I’m using an iPad Pro second generation 12.9 inch

Great app. I’ve been using Filmic Pro for a month now on my iPhone X along with a SMOVE Gimbal. But I’m not getting any sound/audio from my recordings. I recorded my daughter’s Graduation and upon reviewing, there were no audio in the replay. Can I get some help please?Thanks Urgent.

You won’t be disappointed if your looking to get in the filming business and don’t want to spend a lot of money on making videos. The right equipment and this app, you can go wrong. My only takeaway. Do you guys plan on listing other options for handheld stabilization instead of just the DJ Odom Mobile?

I love this app particularly because you can change the aspect ratio, adjust focus and exposure and easily export and upload videos to YouTube. I shoot on my iPhone X so this camera app helps me to shoot cinematic videos and so on. Great job guys!

Recently the updates have pushed this app to new heights! There is now no reason why I cannot get the results I want using this app! I am a photographer and I come from the film world and understand all the basics of still photography technology. Now with this app I can fully control movie making process to the same high-level that I do in photography which is truly amazing because I am using an iPhone 7 to do this! Enjoy you will not regret it as long as you read the information try all the settings over and over Until you believe you know it! Then you will have it under your control it’s that easy! The update keep coming and coming and coming software is getting better and better and better!

When recording slo motion at 120p the footage won’t playback at 120 or transfer to my camera roll. All settings are set. What’s the issue? iPhone 6s Plus.

I love the App... but I’m constantly uninstalling and redownloading because between takes while I’m filming, the audio stops working. Ugh... such a good app but so frustrating. Then I can’t renew my purchase of pro... why, why, why? Please fix this.

After the update, anytime I try to use the app horizontally it will go black screen all of a sudden. It is inconsistent and I can’t record because I can’t see what I’m getting. I’m shooting on an iPhone X. Please fix.

I was faced with a choice. I love shooting high res video and making little montages in my free time. I’m super crazy about how I shoot, what I shoot, and then how it looks. I’m a little outdated now on an iPhone 7+, but I had to chose between investing a bunch of money into a nice video camera or an app. Well, I bought the app and I have the DJI Osmo Mobile and it looks fantastic. I either shoot in 4K extreme or 120fps 1080p extreme depending on what I want to get out of the shot. The only issues I’ve encountered thus far would be sometimes when I lock the shutter and software ISO, my focus gets weird. Often times I rely on auto focus since it’s my phone, and when I shoot the extreme stuff it has to dim the screen which makes it difficult to tell if I’m in focus or not. The special modes do make a bit of a difference to show what’s in critical focus though. Another issue would be something out of The developers reach, and that’s the built in stabilization. From my understanding you can’t actually turn it off, and the result is when you “step” it “jiggles” the video. You can watch YouTube videos to see what I’m talking about. But with a gimbal and smooth motion I’ve been able to avoid this entirely with small hiccups here and there. One of the last - most disappointing issues was when I purchased the expansion in the app. It may be my phone can’t handle it but I tried shooting 4K extreme in D-log and my phone started dropping serious frames. Which is another thing that may be out of reach for the developers that I totally understand. Overall, I would recommend this app to anyone that has a phone with an amazing camera. I would only mention that they would need a serious screen and serious hardware to actually process it, but for the price I absolutely love it. The camera on the iPhone 7+ is already outdated but the video it shoots in extreme is absolutely amazing. I can tell a huge difference from the Apple 23/32mb/s as compared to 100mb/s. I don’t know if that’s the right measurement in terms of the acronym but the numbers are correct. Even the 1080p looks fantastic at extreme. Be warned. Shooting this kind of video also takes up ALOT of battery and space. Worth every penny if you want to get into cinematography for fun. This won’t replace a dslr though. I am thoroughly happy with my purchase!

This app is truly amazing but one this has started becoming a problem recently I can't save or use any footage on my phone nor can imovie please fix this I have an iPhone 7 plus

Why have the developers completely ignore that their amazing pro app does not work on iPhone X. This is the best pro camera but it fails to work on a 1k iPhone X. It seriously needs to be noted here that this version is not compatible with the almost one year old iPhone X. It pains me to write this here because I have shot professional films with this app on my older iPhone and it never crashed. I have also talked to other filmmakers using iPhone X and they all experience crashes and can no longer use FilmicPRO for important shoots. Why have you completely ignored these bugs and continue to sale the app when it fails to work. You have also failed to reply to other reviews pointing out that the app crashes iPhone X? PLEASE REPLY WITH YOUR PLANS WHEN YOU WILL MAKE THIS APP STABLE AGAIN.

Used this app to shoot a project and loved the flexibility of the manual controls. There are 2 things that need work: 1- the audio slider is so small that I could not easily control the volume. The slider jumps to where the contact is sensed and too small for me to see my adjustment till I move my finger away. 2- Must add a visible alert that the storage is full and content is not being recorded. I lost about 4 clips. I saw the transparent blocks in the play list but was not able to view or retrieve them once I cleared space on the phone. Not sure why the app records when there is nowhere to put the footage. If I missed something please correct me.

Does this app not have the ability to just take a photo? If someone can answer this question for me I will change the rating. It should be simple

I’m a beta tester and was aware of this update with the new audio framework. The effort here was well worth it. Sound quality and control from the audio gain adjustment are fantastic. Resolved issues with my beloved Shure mv88 mic. The audio in this app is now superb and worthy of being a standalone app. In fact I will be using filmic pro on a second device purely to capture audio. Bravo!

Really digging this app, it’s awesome to have such great manual control on an iPhone. But it would be that much better if it could pair with my Zhiyun Smooth 4. The thing has a follow focus — a tool that I would love to use in FP, and not just in Zhiyun’s lackluster app. Please add this! Racking focus in FP is really hard while using a gimbal, and this would step up the game of video taken with FP considerably.

I love the rich features on this app! The problem is it seems to freeze up fairly often, and when I record in 4K, the video will just stop randomly. I have an iPhone 8+ 64Gig, so I’m not sure what the problem is.

I’m not sure how this app is sub four stars. It’s almost perfect. Go on YouTube and watch any smartphone videography video and the first thing they will tell you is Ito run, and get filmic pro app. It is hands down the best app for doing videos with a smartphone. Coupled with some sort of gimbal (Osmo Mobile 2 is my choice) and you have the beginnings of some awesome footage. Allows you to shoot in higher but rates and also in log for the best color grading available. Also different frame rates like 24 FPS for that cinematic look. Love love love this app.

So I was using the application and I saw that it give you good image quality but with a catch. It a bit unstable. I don't know what wrong. I was doing a time lapse and through time the image started to defocus. Other things can be better. It q good app but it need work

I love this app

I love this app, it has so many amazing features, but for the third time, I have set up my phone to take a recording of a concert and lost all my audio. Yes, I did check to make sure my audio settings were on my phone’s mic (not that I should have to, audio is pretty basic). However upon reviewing to footage NO AUDIO! This is very upsetting, because I have lost audio from several once in a lifetime experiences already such as traveling or going to see a band in concert.

Oh where is Zhiyun support

I’m a bit annoyed with the way it starts recording just as I open the app but I love how much control I have with white balance, color, focus, and other great stuff

The second time in a row the low battery warning has corrupted the capture.

Would love to see this fixed ASAP. When setting the built in stabilizer to "ON" the image preview is squeezed. The final recording is fine but the live preview is anoying. Please fix!

I just downloaded filmic pro . The whole reason I got it was because it’s being advertised all over . Now you pay almost 20 dollars to be able to use everything that comes with it , but there is a catch . You pay 14.99 but you can’t use the color profiles unless you pay another 10 dollars you don’t know this until you have already downloaded the program an are getting familiar with it. That’s is a deal killer right there I have yet to spend this much money for a program you don’t have full access to unless you pay for the program and extra for the rest not what I expected .

I think this app has probably the most comprehensive feature set of any app in its class. And the features are mostly well thought out. I like the look and feel of the interface overall. But there are a few annoying bugs with this interface where things just don't work like they are supposed to. For instance, sometimes the button to bring up the manual controls would just stop working for no apparent reason. Literally nothing happens when you push the button. And the swipe in gesture to activate the manual controls would not work either. This has happened to me more than a few times already. And I have only had this app for a couple of days. Also, I was able to swipe left and delete a video in the library. But when I tried to swipe again to delete a 2nd video, the delete option would not come up. Another one, when I try to bring up the imaging panel, it would tell me that the white balance settings are not available, or something along those lines. Can't remember the exact message. Again, has happened more than once. The only way I have found to temporary "fix" all of the above mentioned issues is to completely shut the app down and restart. Overall, I like what they done with the app. And I am hopeful that they will get all these annoying interface issues patched up soon. Developers, please spend a bit more time testing the app prior to release. I have found all these bugs in less than 5 hours total of using the app. Taking only one star away given the awesome feature set.

I don’t generally favor writing bad reviews but advertising that the app shoots in LOG on iPhone (the only reason I purchased it) only to find out that that’s a $10 premium feature is a pretty heinous bait-and-switch.

Let me just say that Filmic Pro is a great camera app with many powerful features. Undoubtedly the best in the store, but after using it for a while on different projects there are some issues which hold it back: The manual ISO and shutter speed controls are nice looking but clunky to use. There’s also no ISO or shutter speed priority mode. When you lock ISO or shutter speed it locks both. You should be able to lock the shutter speed and let the app adjust the ISO automatically. Other camera apps can do this. The ISO and shutter speed values are hidden from the main interface. It’s baffling how this was overlooked. They should be right there next to the color temp. It doesn’t save your white balance, shutter or ISO settings after you close the app so you have to constantly set these over and over again. Really annoying. The stabilization option can cause really bad warping/jello artifacts in the image when set to above 1080p with lower than 48fps frame rates. The default camera app doesn’t have this problem. The fancy live analytics modes are limited to 30fps and below if you shoot in 4K. Doesn’t work with 4K 60fps. No 2:1/18:9 aspect ratio option. 17:9 shouldn’t even be in there. A custom option would be ideal. I really want to love Filmic Pro but in its current incarnation it’s often a pain to use, missing some basic features and drains your battery like crazy. The $9.99 upcharge for the flat and log profiles is also lame, especially when you can’t even use them with 60fps. A shame because there really is no alternative that offers so much potential.

Only thing that sets this app back is that it doesn’t have the HDR video that the built in camera has which in the right conditions can be almost crazy stunning, And being that this feature isn’t built into filmic pro, sometimes shots with sky’s can be blown out even with proper exposures when compared to iPhone native app, *only applies in certain lighting*

I can not save anything above 60fps to my camera roll? iPhone 8 plus current software release? Help???

I’ve been having trouble editing and exporting my videos using Premiere Pro. The audio cuts in and out during editing and this issue persists when I export my videos. I have no problems whatsoever filming and I loved this app! But it’s been very frustrating not being able to hear my audio. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to solve it?

I am a Zhiyun Smooth3 user. Filmic pro is a user's settlement to maximize the chances of using a smartphone that is already in use, rather than a professional user using expensive equipment. So, I chose Smooth, which I think is better than OSMO in terms of caustic ratio. Unfortunately, Filmic pro does not support Smooth. Please support the software option for Smooth users like me.

I use an iPhone 6s. I was excited that I could shoot 24fps with this app until I tried it. Holding the phone with my hand the footage is so shaky whether I use the image stabilization option or not. I might as well just use my regular iPhone camera. No 24fps but at least I use the footage and it's not shaking all over the place. Unless I'm missing something I don't know why the rave for this app. Absolutely horrible.

Recently the updates have pushed this app to new heights! There is now no reason why I cannot get the results I want using this app! I am a photographer and I come from the film world and understand all the basics of still photography technology. Now with this app I can fully control movie making process to the same high-level that I do in photography which is truly amazing because I am using an iPhone 7 to do this! Enjoy you will not regret it as long as you read the information try all the settings over and over Until you believe you know it! Then you will have it under your control it’s that easy!

Great App. The in-app microphone is the best when compared to other video Apps, but I feel that the creators put to much focus on it. For example, I have manually turned off the mic multiple times only to close the App and return to it being engaged again. The quality and manual focus options are so smooth and have so much potential that this app partnered with a gimble steadycam could give the even the most pedestrian filmmaker into a national festival. I guess what I’m saying is that they should scrap the microphone entirely and enhance what is already the best focus and depth of field on the AppStore. Basically, if the quality of the footage is going to be as professional as it is, then it’s kind of bogus to assume that the microphone recorder is going to get the job done in post. Who are they appeasing? Wake up, yr not SnapChat...and that’s OK. I love yr app, though. Like I said, get a steady-cam or a cheap tripod and tell a story about something that explains how you feel about things because FILMpro is really killing it with quality.

Like the title suggests, this app has issues, especially for its pricepoint. At least things are nicely organized; that’s what I like about it.

I’ve been using filmicpro for years (back when the app was $1.99 and iPhone 4’s were all the rage!). I was excited about the idea of iPhone filmmaking then and made a number of projects for the iPhone film festival circuit. Then I stepped away from iPhone filmmaking to focus on other indie films with a variety of camera types (not mobile phone related.). After a few years, I came back to this app and iPhone filmmaking because I love the flexibility of it. I purchased the new $9.99 additional feature with LOG as a setting option and I have to say, I am SO SO pleased to see FilMIC pro has continued to update their app and make iPhone filmmaking more of a legitimate and credible option for the independent filmmaker! The newest features with adjusting the ISO, focus pull, light balance, etc is really awesome! With a few options in lens attachments in addition to this app I really love how versatile it is becoming. It’s still not going to give you the performance of a DSLR or studio level camera, but it is definitely a viable option for filmmakers now! And I love it!

I’ve read a lot of good things about Filmic Pro and how I could get the best video from my X. After using the app off and on for a few weeks I would agree that it’s fantastic. It has some issues though: Auto-shutter in frame rates causes frame drops/stutters when recording 60fps video. Set to 60hz to avoid this. The fancy live analytic views don’t work with 4K 60fps video. Not sure if this is a bug or a limitation. The ability to switch profiles are an extra $9.99. I knew this before I bought the app but this is more than a little lame. Anything with Pro in it should include everything. It’s a real battery drainer. This is with just using the app normally and not enabling any of the special analytic modes or manual controls. Really needs a 18:9/2:1 aspect ratio option. Custom ratios would be awesome.

The Osmo mobile 2 has a zoom feature on the gimbal and you can’t use it on filmic pro. I hope they get this right in the next update! Would be easier to make a parallax video with that feature working

Lags lags lags, impossible to get a good footage when no matter what resolution you use it lags a lot. Iphone 7 plus

Not having a zoom function really is depressing using the OSMO 2. DJI and FilMic should have a meeting over this. Also some glitches that were resolved when I reset to factory default settings.

This app drained my battery COMPLETELY in just over an hour. Overheated my phone. The footage i did capture with it came out super choppy. AND you have to pay EXTRA to shoot in LOG??? No thanks. (Iphone X)

This app is hands down the greatest video recording apps ever. Here’s my problem. The in-app purchase of the cinematographer kit. I was using that before they started charging for it. Do I have to pay to use it now? I bought the app long before this. Don’t get me wrong I would probably bring myself to paying for quality but I already did that when buying the app itself.

This app would be great if you could really get the 50mbps at 1080p 24fpswith iPhone SE. I’m just getting 20mbps, 35mbps. What am I missing?

Check and recheck resolution before every video. App randomly resets settings back to 720p. Have half 4K video and half worthless 720. So frustrating...

I was expecting the full pro version to avoid disgusting, nagging up selling in-app purchases. Nope, within seconds I hit more paywalls to access stuff I thought the high price was for. Apparently the high price is just to turn off ads and not to enable pro features. I feel cheated.

Why I can save footage to camera roll ?

This app used save directly to camera roll. Now it will not allow me to save 120 frame rate videos directly to my camera roll. Very disappointed that I can no longer use this once great app for slomotion videos.

While i enjoy everything else about the app so far, suddenly today I can’t export any of my recordings that are 120fps, no matter how long or short the recording. It’s not a matter of phone storage, as I’ve deleted a multitude of pics and vids to be sure. This has never been an issue before, so I’m confused & annoyed. I’d love some feedback because now I’m feeling like I wasted money, and that’s a p*** off.

Nice app but some quirks on an iphone6. Made the mistake of resetting preset to default and can now not get any options for higher resolution than 720p which is a shame as I downloaded this for its 4K ability. Developer - how do I fix? also the manual controls for focus and exposure only seem to work once one first opening and can never be brought back after first hiding.

The things that this app can do are amazing. But I’m gonna let the advertisements tell you about that. I’m here to talk about what I don’t like, and then I’ll fix my review accordingly. The EXPORT. I shoot my mobile videos in short clips so they’re easy to edit. I end up with a ton of small files. But Filmic can’t export very many at a time, and there is no confirmation as to whether the export was successful. So I’ll go to export 10 fifteen second clips and there will be no notifications as to if it even worked or not. Then when I go to check photos I will have exported 3 of them out of order. I’ve got the iPhone X. These things are the pinnacle of mobile technology. I know I’m pushing it to the max, but a confirmation of export or a defined file limit would be appreciated. Also, get a deal with Zhiyun, so I can do subject following on my gimbal in Filmic. I’d pay a few more bucks for a solid update. I know I’m already getting a lot of bang for my buck, and I’m thankful. But I’d love these to things to make it a truly elite product. Especially when there are free apps with similar capabilities. I emailed the team asking if it works with the osmo mobile 2, apprently it doesn’t. The gimbal goes to total waste with this app. I bet it’s a good app for some, but not for osmo2 users. Also, I wish active tracking worked with the app for gimbal users like me. I wish to get a refund.

FilmicPro is the one to use if you’re serious about making movies. Its range of abilities is staggering. It takes a while to develop your ability to utilize the app to its full capability but that just illustrates how feature-packed it is. It would be a bargain at twice the price!

Please add 12mp video recording feature like many other apps do. Apps like Pro Record or Mavis can shoot the resolution in 4000*3000(full 4K), which is the full function of 12mp for 6s and devices above. By attaching anamorphic lens I can shoot 16:9 5k videos with full 4k, but filmic pro only support 2160p, which is a cropped 4K version(Apple native).

Been using this app along with my dji osmo mobile 2, they made it compatible but it’s buggy controls don’t sync and change for what’s its supposed to. Also with new update, normally I have my settings set up to save my videos straight to camera roll, when I now record in 1080 120fps it won’t save my video nor export it. Please fix this!!!

I bought this and the filmmaker upgrade but it wouldn’t let me save to camera roll and the orientation wouldn’t change. I tried multiple times and made sure all the setting and permissions were in good order. Ultimate I lost a day of shooting to the fact that I couldn’t get the app to work. Not a fan until this gets fixed.

Went on a trip used filmicpro to record a whole lot of video. Unfortunately a few of my videos had no audio when they were transferred to camera roll. Huge disappointment. Not reliable have read my on a few boards this has happened.

I’ve been using this app for a long time all of a sudden I’m getting lots of problems with this app. It will not let me save any of my precious videos and it it very frustrating. Not happy

The App is working beautifully fine a few months ago and now with the recent update the app is awful. I had to re-download it and because of that I got the latest update and with that came a horrible issue which is no matter what settings you put your videos on, It has a horrific stutter pausing like issue no matter the frame rate or shutter speed’s etc. I have the iPhone 8 Plus, and this issue needs to be fixed as soon as possible

Love this camera app. Gives me the settings to really control the quality of each shot. This is the only app that can give your DSLR a break without sacrificing quality.

First off, I have written in to support several times. I have received a prompt and thorough reply every time. The app turns my iPhone into a professional video camera. It offers all of the manual controls I want and can be configured in so many creative ways. I love this app.

I’m just getting into filmmaking and every part of my research about what apps to choose sent me here to Filmic. I was able to begin filming quite quickly with very little training on the features. At the same time, there is a depth of features that will allow me to dial things in as I develop in my skills and knowledge. My only request at this time would be support for an expanded range of gimbals. Filmic currently supports Dji osmo gimbals, I have an EVO sp-pro, and so I’m limited on some features that are available to other users. Other than that, keep up the good work!

Greetings! This past weekend I had the pleasure of shooting a short film using this App and I have one note that can’t go without mentioning: -Exposure changes: my DP and I found that even when we had our exposure locked the exposure of the image would change as characters moved in and around the frame. We found that restarting the app helped with this but it definitely had a few drawbacks to the flow of production. Other than that I LOVE this app and will go tire to use it on future works either as running a B Cam or as another A Cam for another short or even a feature!

I’ve set up to use my phone as a camera for some work I’m doing. It is nearly on par with the mirrorless DSLR I’m using for other shots. The granularity of control is amazing.

So happy to see a fix for the watch app. I use it all the time and it broke after the latest watchOS update. Fixed now. 👍🏻

These guys mean business. They keep up to date with updates. Live and die by this app. It is my number one go to app for filming video. I use it all the time with my JPHONEOGRAPHY Youtube channel. I love everything that it offers. Especially the fine technical options for when it comes to recording video/audio. Keep doing what you do guys and keep up the the great work. 🙏

So I spent $15 for a PRO app but it isn’t pro at all, it’s just a standard camera app that’s worth about $5 in my opinion. Now I have to spent an additional $10 to shoot in log when I thought since it was pro it would have all features. So $25 dollars in total for an iPhone app, I feel cheated.

The app is really cool and you can do a lot of stuff with it including some basic color correction/grading! The main problem I have with this app is how it crashes a lot. I try to go and change some settings and it crashes. I am using an iPhone 7. Please fix this!! Thanks!

I’m hopeful you can put a 2:1 aspect ratio option in this app. I would love to use only this app to shoot all my mobile footage. The iPhone X notch is annoying so I find the 2:1 ratio the best for its screen. Thanks! Sry for the low rating but because of the lack of this feature, this app is a waste of money for me. I purchased this app because I had heard many great things about it and I will say that I was very impressed with a lot of the tricks of this app has to offer. However what’s been disappointing me over and over again is it the app has been crashing when using high frame rates, and not even for that long of a period. It will freeze when entering the review portion of the app where I would view the videos I’ve taken. I’ve also had times where I am switching resolutions and the app goes into mirror mode, which I’m sure is not supposed to happen. The image becomes upside down and reversed left to right making it impossible to record until I shut down the app completely and sometimes even have to turn off my phone. I have had the focus and exposure dials randomly start turning on me and I’ve also had exposure settings changed even though I have had them locked in. Overall I’m pretty disappointed because I never had these issues with ProMovie recorder which was only three dollars and I had heard amazing things about this app. These bugs could get taken care of I would be 100% satisfied because there are a lot of great things this app provides but I’m just not there yet. I love this app! Honestly it’s my phones fave app! But unfortunately I’ve been having a problem lately, whenever I tried to calibrate my exposure, I zoomed in to my white balance panel, and then I go and press flat in the exposure settings, then my image goes completely black and white, and I tried moving the settings but it stays like that until I quit and restart the app! My app it’s up to date, idk if someone else have the same problem! I hope filmic fixes this issue,

I really like the app but every time I try to process the video clip it crashes.

I don’t know why this app is called PRO. In order to shoot in LOG/FLAT we have to spend more money for what they called ‘cinematographer kit’. I know it’s only $9.99 but seriously? When an app is called PRO, I assume the pro version has everything already or all the options are already unlocked. I feel like I’m being ripped off!

Love the APP, the only issue I have is the app won’t work with my Bluetooth remote shutter, on your app it wants to raise the volume . The remote shutter works with the Apple app. Any chance you can fix this?

Why the 1 Star?? I contacted FilMic Pro to get a question answered. After 3 attempts to talk with someone and over a week and a half later someone finally got back to me. The response was sub-par at best. This lack of communication is Totally Unacceptable!!! FilMic Pro also changed their shutter speed settings. This means that if so want to shoot at 120p or 60p the only option is 100, 200 or 300 to try to match the 180 degree rule. It’s a problem because if the shutter speed is too high it creates a stutters effect when there is camera movement. I don’t know why they took away the option for more exact shutter speeds???!!!

App continues to crash randomly. Sometimes it will not save videos to camera roll even tho save to camera roll is selected. There are various other bugs that also need to be fixed. When this app works like it’s supposed to, it’s wonderful.

Love the control the app gives, is there going to be an update for iPhone X to be used full screen without the black bars? And is there a way to scroll through recorded clips in a full screen instead of just the little tab that shows 2-3 clips at a time as you scroll?

Filmic Pro is amazing and hands down the best app out there. That said there is one flaw - Ability to use LUTs in app. I shot log but having the ability to use a LUT on top of that would stream line everything!

This app is constantly crashing. I have trie to re-download multiple times. When I open the app, it immediately closes. I restart my device and I can get the app to stay open, but when I record, it either stops or records to a black screen or nothingness. I also have issues where it inconsistently records to the microphone. Don’t waste your money. I hope they will give me a refund.

Saved money and waited 11 months to do videos on Japan cherry blossom. Went there and half of the videos have no sound. It just stopped recording sound at some point. This app single handily sabotaged my $4000 project. Now I’m back and still can’t get it to record audio. Either microphone. I have iPhone 6s Plus.

I think this will be a good option for B-roll in conjunction with my DSLRs using my DJI Osmo Mobile and iPhone. However, the analytics functions disappear. They are there for a second and then they’re gone. I don’t know if maybe it’s because I am using an older iPhone. Also, no 4K option. I know it can be done with an iPhone 5s. I have seen it done. I even have a $2.99 app installed that gets me useable footage that is just slightly less than 4K. Hands down FilMic Pro is the clear winner in the category of apps that can get you cinematic footage on your iPhone, just don’t forget about those of us that don’t upgrade our phones as often. If my disappearing options are not related to the age of my phone, I would love to know what is causing it. I would love it if I could even get 1440p but all I can get is 1080p. One other thing, I am running iOS 11.3 if that helps.

We use FiLMIC Pro on all our shoots at the hospital. Be it surgical procedures or for run & gun interviews. FiLMIC Pro constantly gives us the leverage over other solutions, in the control of how our shots can be set up & look, to the standard we want to have (FPS, audio, mics, rez etc) Going into any shoot with FiLMIC Pro on our phones means that we have the best solution on the market to shoot and edit some of the most delicate and intricate of settings.

There is a problem with the conversion to premiere where no audio plays. I edit all my videos with premiere and this app is rendered useless if i cant get the conversion to work properly. Great app, does as advertised but should be fixed so that it works with the latest premiere software

the application gives error in iPhone X in iOS 11.3?

App crashes frequently when resuming a session after app has been running in the background. Analytics (zebra stripes, clipping, focus peaking, etc.) don’t work on iPhone X. Drains battery and is causing overheating issues. Worried about long-term damage to battery. I’ve reinstalled the app multiple times hoping to fix problems but the issues persist. Seems like it would be a great app if it worked.

I’ve always wanted to make a movie, but the camera I have won’t connect to my microphone and isn’t the greatest quality, this app is helping me make my movie look more professional and makes everything easier being that I’m filming on my phone. Although I’m using other accessories like a mic and a tripod this just amped up on making my movie professional, thanks for helping my dream!

Hey guy love the app and all it has to offer. Recently I been using the app and when I would record a video I would then later go back to watch it or find it and it wouldn’t be there not sure if this has something to do with an update or what but it’s a little disappointing that I paid all this money for the app and it doesn’t work please let me know if you can help with fixing this issues thanks ... The last 2 days no audio is playing back

I thought the LOG setting would come with buying the Filmic Pro app as advertised, but there’s actually a second Cinematographer Kit you have to purchase for $10 just to get LOG. That’s a total of $25, so don’t get this if you’re expecting to get all the features for $15.

I paid for this over 5 months ago. I’ve been using it with DJI Mobile, as I found many recommendations for this kind of setup. It’s been problematic in that I will shoot lots of footage and some will be missing. File name is there with a big fat 0 for the file size. Where is it? I’m using an iPhone 8 Plus, with the latest software. I might have to can the whole thing though. Tired of loosing valuable footage that I can only shoot once.

That app works great when it doesn’t crash every 30 seconds

This app gives great image, but it doesn't matter when you cannot open any of it in Premiere Pro nor AME. There are third party programs that can encode it in a supported format, but you don't get more than 13secs of video nor 4K. That's why I don't use this app at all, and why I wouldn't recommend.

Having massive issues since the last update: - 50% of my videos are either corrupted at the end or from the get go. - Enabling DJI Osmo Mobile hardware sometimes puts the app in Anamorphic mode. - Sometimes the video is sideways

I’m a professional TV / Feature Film cinematographer who took a chance using iPhone 7+ (following best practices with 100gb space free) to capture b-roll of an interview, and my 1st use if of this app yielded a couple (unfortunately essential) clips of footage at TWELVE frames per second. The company’s support was very nice and responsive but ultimately of no help as they could not fix or even determine cause of issue. So in summary, my footage was ruined, and also this app does not offer PRO frame rate of 23.98 drop frame to match other actual pro cameras (which is essential) and seems to be offered by a different $100 app (unconfirmed) which I now regret not trying. Also focus assist could be better as shots That read sharp were a bit outside of DOF. All in all, iPhones don’t seem ready to be reliable professional on set tools yet. Will wait another year or two and see where things are at. Not hating this company specifically - they’re very nice - the tech is still simply too young I think.

I just update to v6 on my iphone 6+, this new update do not give me an option to record higher than HD 1080p (3 option only, 540p, 720p and 1080p), can’t record more than 60fps, no camera option, also no option in WB sector.

I’m actually very upset because I didn’t understand that I needed to purchase additional apps in order to get what I thought was standard in the main app. If i would have known, I would have bought the bundle and saved some money.

I’ve tried many of the more expensive video apps over the past 5ish years and this is definitely the best quality per dollar. App support is lightning quick as well.

Asked for a fix and issues were addressed promptly. App is great! Support is superb!

The user interface is clean and well workable. From a videographers perspective there’s not much missing. However from an iPhone user’s perspective I’d wish there was an option to take still photos as well. That way I could replace the iOS native camera app with Filmic Pro. But that’s wishful thinking, Filmic Pro won’t let you take individual photos. I paid $14.99 for the app and did not find any indication before my purchase that I needed to spend another $9.99 for an add-on to be able to use the full potential of the app. So basically Filmic becomes Pro only when you spend about $25 on it. That was a bitter surprise. So honestly I think it’s over priced. One more thing, the LOG recording works only up to 60fps capturing so creating smooth slow motion footage in LOG mode won’t work. Update, Feb8,2018: I very much appreciate the fast and detailed response of the developer. I take it as proof that they do care about their product and their customers. It doesn’t change my opinion that the pricing should be outlined clearer though. When I buy a Pro product I expect Pro features included. And again the ability to take still shots, potentially even while recording video, would be great. The native iOS camera app shows how it’s done. I changed my rating to reflect the efforts and the customer service.

I have enjoyed this app over the years. I for one rarely write reviews however I felt compelled to do so. My biggest issue right now is the mirror problem that has started since the last update. Prior to this issues it would have been a complete 5 star rating. Fix the issue and I will edit this and give it 5 stars. New bites of this app, don't get discourage with this minor bug. This app is well worth the money. I just hope they fix this issue. UPDATE: So they finally fixed the issue and it was working fantastic. Then I updated to the current iOS and now the app ceased to function... I heavily depend on this app to do a lot of my filming. FIX IT!!!

I have been living filmc pro for a while now but was having some problems with startup crash. The support at this company is simply first rate. Fast and always has the answer I need. They were even helpful in suggesting options on how to shoot a particular scene on my current project. Just noticed a new update today and wanted to pass along a hearty congratulations to this developer. Thank you!

Filmic Pro does not open in iOS11 — the App crashes immediately and cannot be used

Like with most Apps this involved, I’m sure at some point the multiple issues will be worked out. But using a brand new IPhone X and spending the $$ for the App, you’d think MOST of the bugs ( there’s many) would be not existent at this point. If you’re going to charge at minimum $14.99 for this, make sure the customer is going to be blown away!! I’m not lol. Oh, and the audio pick up is probably the worst of ANY App. Very sad indeed. 💩💯 Edit/ Update: After deleting/ re-downloading the App a couple of times, the App has functioned flawlessly!! Definitely a 5 Star App, and worth every penny 💥

I’ve had this app for a while now and loved it so much but I just tried to use for the first time in a while and now the mic isn’t picking up any sound. I restored to default settings, didn’t work. I uninstalled and installed the app again, didn’t work. I restarted my phone, didn’t work. The audio that’s being picked up is at a level that’s basically soundless. I can barely hear. Also there’s nothing wrong with my phone because my Camera app, Snapchat, and Instagram are still recording video with great sound. I need this fixed ASAP!!!

It wasn’t clear anywhere that the cinematographer kit was an add on. Disappointed because this is a $5 app with out it imo. But with it and the app it’s $25 and that’s high🤦🏻‍♂️

I hardly ever write reviews but Filmic really earned a great review. Works great on my iPhone 6s. A really well-designed and full-featured app that fit my need for creating a more professional video than what I could have done with the native camera app. I had a bit of a hiccup trying to get the already-paid-for pro Kit onto my iPad, but it turned out to be an Apple App Store UI issue. Even so, Filmic Support was super helpful and responsive and helped me get over that hurdle. One minor area for improvements I’d suggest — the linking between the Remote on my iPad and FilmicPro on my iPhone was slow to be recognized and the pairing disconnected once (I’ve used it in 2 sessions so far). That said, I’m very happy with the FilmicPro kit bundle. KUDOS to the Developers and to Support!!

I really like what this app has to offer, however, it drains my battery faster then any app I have ever used. I recorded a 15 min clip at 100% battery life. It drained it completely. Not to mention my phone over heated to the point that I got a warning from my phone that it was too hot. It also crashes multiple times while using it and erases my settings. This is really frustrating. For reference, I’m using an iPhone 6+.

Review Update: Thank you developers for the quick response and feedback. While I understand the need to update the app; it would take far more time to update the app to replace the 2.59:1 with 3:2 than it would to replace the text in the literature and on the site to reflect that change as well. The manual being a compiled PDF shouldn’t take the time it has taken to address this and on the site itself it still lists 2.59:1 as a framing option. I do thank you for the clarification and quick response. Original Review: Everything I have seen directed me to Filmic Pro for my handheld cinematography. Which to me was a massive testament to this app. $25 for the app and all of its features is a great price. My issue with it is that the entire reason I purchased this powerhouse was to shoot in 2.59:1; an option replaced on my iPhone 8 Plus with 3:2. There’s no literature I can find for how to get this option back; nothing in the manual; and nothing in the Aspect Ratio video on the site. I’ll keep the app as I love the lighting controls as well as the dynamic focal point control; this app gives a fantastic angle of control to my cinematography that I no longer need my Canon or Nikon to achieve.

If I could get a refund for this product that would be awesome.. this is by far the worst camera app out there. Can’t even edit videos and half the time will stop recording by itself. Do not buy this junk

What I mean: I downloaded this app years ago when it first came out on the App Store and been using it off and on since then. Of course there was some issues back then, like crashing and losing my footage, but it has developed into a portable Cinematic Camera System. Now I’m using it more and in the process of shooting a music video. I’m using the Moondog Labs Lens with the Beast Grip Pro, with the FiLMiC Pro App and every test video I shoot looks like a instant masterpiece!

Open it and it closes, on both iPhone 7plus and and 6. Its a buggy app that doesnt work. Save your money dont buy this junk Update: uninstalled and reinstalled and its all better, I have this on two different phones and bug appears on both, it need to be fixed. UPDATE: I appreciate the response the Developer Team addressing the issue at hand, they were thorough in explaining what went wrong in great detail and that there are certain issues they cannot re-create in house, and they rely on long time users to relay any issues your differences they have found. Not a lot of developers take the time to explain what caused an issue and exactly every step to correct it with little to no interruption towards the projects you already have in progress. They even gave me a contact email if the issue wasn’t resolved after preforming those steps. I appreciate the FiLMIC team for the work they put in, back to 5 stars from me. Thanks guys

The last few times I’ve tried to use the app it won’t open. I click on it n it just dashboards. Not sure what’s going on. Using a iPhone 7+. Was really enjoying this app before this tho. EDITED: uninstalled and reinstalled and it’s working fine again.

The focus / aperture pulling set up is so nice. It lets you set marks (super easy) and control speed manually or let the unit do it for you. Also, frame rate adjustments are close to infinite. Yeah, I’m happy with FiLMiC.

Man what can I say this app is amazing. Keeping it brief reinstall if it crashes and watch tutorials. One thing that I would love to see fixed is the syncing of the presets. This app is powerful and I have a lot of difficulty locking down my custom presets and then loading them so I can shoot and run. Fix that and it will be even better.

I’ve had the app for a while and always just did small videos without audio. But I have noticed it doesn’t pick up audio after I spent a day with my son at the go karts the entire footage I took is all mute. Please have this fixed. It’s on an iPhone 8.

I love this app and have used it quite a bit. Have used it to turn my iPhone 6s into a B-Cam as well as having used it to shoot a short film. Great for Guerilla work too. Wish there was a setting to switch to using Shutter Angle—i.e. locking the shutter to 180 degrees. That would be amazing!

I had an issue with the app after an OS update or an app update. I left feedback here and within a day or so I had a response from the developer that quickly resolved my issue. Outstanding support and app!

Everything had been working super smoothly. But i had to update to iOS 11 last night and i just noticed it won’t even open now. Please fix asap so that i can continue to use it. I’m experiencing a bug where once you choose a new preset or save a new one, the exposure and focus Onscreen selection targets disappear. They only reappear when you restart the app after force quitting.

Had an issue opening Filmic Pro after the V6 update. I contacted support on how to resolve the problem and they responded same day within 2 hours. I find this to be quick. I am very happy with the app and the support team. This app is worth every penny!

I have an iPhone 6s and I recorded at the highest quality I can possible do 4K 2160p Filmic Extreme 24 FPS and I cant watch the video on my phone. It “freezes” while the audio is still going and then gets out of sync. I’ve tried opening it in other applications but have the same result. Is there anyway to fix this or will I have to re-film my footage?

I have been using the app now for a few days and so far love it. I am blown away at all the manual settings I can now take advantage of. My only complaint is that Filmic Pro states that it is compatible with the Osmo Mobile 2 but I have been having some connectivity problems. For some reason whenever I click the record button on the Osmo Mobile 2, instead of starting the recording on Filmic Pro, the app starts cycling through it’s different manual settings. Although this isn’t a huge issue, it would be nice to be able to take advantage of the record button on the Osmo Mobile 2.

I LOVE this app. Everything that I shoot is clean and ports over well for compositing visual effects (after this, I’m not sure I want to buy a $10, 000 camera for my professional shots). My only gripe is that with an app this awesome......I should be able to shoot still images from Filmic and I have not discovered how to do that. Is this even possible?!?! I had purchased this on June 6. 2017 and when I saw the new update it was crashing a lot. So I deleted the app to reinstall now it’s asking me to pay $14.99 which I already paid. After I waited the icon changed to download, I guess it recognized my id but now it’s asking me for billing information and I can’t download it. I’m not even sure what to do.

I was in a hurry because I had to take some videos and thought I’d use this app but while exploring I accidentally clicked the purchase with my thumb on the ID sensor. I pressed cancel twice but it still purchased it. Other than that, it’s a good app. I just didn’t understand what I was doing because I was in a rush to shoot.

For anyone on the fence of buying this app, do it, it’s amazing and literally unlocks features on your phone that most of us would k*** for to have in ALL mirrorless/DSLR cameras. It’s an amazing tool and well worth the money. With that said my only complaint would be for you guys to please change how the shutter speed lock/unlock currently functions and make it more failsafe or add an EXTRA step to unlock it. A setting that most of us would want to ALWAYS remain the same once set (shutter) is right in the exact vicinity of a setting that we will be constantly tapping and swiping to change throughout the shooting day (ISO) making the possibility of accidentally double tapping off the shutter lock very common.

The first line you read in the description is LOG v2 is here. Well actually that feature doesn’t come with your purchase. You have to purchase a second equal in price package to get that one feature that was advertised in the first line of the description. So very misleading. There are other less expensive camera apps out there. And you will get what you pay for. I want my money back!

I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos that praise this app. I have the iPhone camera max and I can’t save any videoed to the camera roll!! This is ridiculous!

The Cinematographer kit price is equal with the app itself. It's too pricey. Your app already too expensive, just why?

While I’m not a professional videographer, I do enjoy making the occasional video for my photography clients or family. The ease of use of FiLMiC Pro, along with gimbal pairing, makes it a far less expensive rig for mobile videography. Now that the remote control video lag has been corrected, it’s even better! Keep up the good work!

Fair warning that the am will not tell you when your storage is full. Just recorded a live music performance or at least I thought I did. After I closed the app and used the default phone can I was notified that my storage was full. Sure would’ve been nice to know I wasn’t actually recording. Lost a couple really good performances. I’ve had this app for a while now, not much has changed since I bought it. I recently purchased the LOG add on and I guess I need to learn to better expose cause the footage gets noisy when it’s not even dark. For the record, I do know how to shoot in LOG as I’ve done so on several other cameras. Not the best $25 spent!

Taught foundational filmmaking with it and used it for this entire semester. Having shot with a Bolex for years and years, having this app in my pocket feels like shooting super 16 with nothing more than my copy of the ACH in my AC bag. Sigh, and it’s still all about knowing how to shoot, what a relief. Wish it had a real f-stop scale and an HUD of DOF as I shift focus and exposure. Rolling shutter seems to have disappeared. The c***** latitude typical with the iOS camera is expanded. And footage transcodes to MXF in the AVID beautifully. Sigh. Never thought I’d make movies again with all the time “convenient“ technology has stolen from me. Filmic pro is the real convenience. Add a single framing feature in app and I will actually sell my Bolex.

My gimbal (smooth 4) is listed as a device that works with this app, but it doesn’t work at all. The app will freeze up. When I’m in the middle of recording. Who do I reach out to for a refund.

Creates better looking video than the apple standard app, and over the years they have worked hard to create a nifty interface. Not intuitive enough and it feels overly complex for such a small device. But it’s so fantastic to have all that control!

I have an 8in/8out audio interface and I need to be able to pick just the first two channels. I read on a different review this might work for that but it doesn’t yet.

Sure this app is loaded with fancy features and it definitely takes advantage of the iPhone camera. On the other hand there are many bugs were the app doesn’t save footage or it decides to freeze up mid shoot. Is this app cool? Yes, yes it is. Is it worth 14 dollars? No, no it’s not.

I'll press record, the timer will stop somewhere between :01-:06 seconds over and over. Have tried restarting the app, deleting and re-installing and still continuing to have this major issue. I've attended two car events to get footage of, one which was over $100 just to have this issue. Please fix, thank you!

I bought the app and use it on iPhone X’s max. No issues but guys: you need to fix the flat log for 60 frame rate and higher!!!! What is the point of using the app if I can’t have constant picture on 30, 60 and 120 frames/sec.. All the I save can’t work. I can’t mix slow motion with regular in post. I can’t use it at all in fact. This app is $15. Make it worth.

I wanted to step my mobile cinematography up and everything I read was saying this app was amazing. And it is. My only issue is that I thought I paid $14.99 for a “pro” version. Going thru the app I see I have to pay an additional $9.99 to unlock more features. Features I would consider to be “pro”. The app is great, just wish the price wasn’t misleading.

App worked most of the time on my iPhone 8 but ever since I switched to the XR the app would initially not load. Then it would open and the camera wouldn’t be working. And now when I try to edit the contrast on a short 13 sec video it keeps crashing. 2 stars because in its current state it’s pretty much useless. If it doesn’t get fixed I’m gonna need a refund.

Very temperamental, do not use on anything but a dedicated latest iPhone, test check and recheck. Nothing like getting to the end of a day of shooting to realize your footage is corrupt or freezes. Recent updates have made this a risky app to use for filming Does not work well with DJI Osmo 2. Frequently disconnects.

I rarely write reviews for anything really, but, I felt compelled to write something for this app. Honestly, I really like it. There’s nothing like being able to take your phone and shoot a video at a level where it can compete with a DSLR or video camera (to a point obviously). As someone who is beginning to get into the YouTube world and create videos, this is awesome to have. The only reason why I’ve given this 4 stars and not 5, the bugs. Sometimes, while recording for a while, the app will freeze, glitch, crash, you name it. I understand there’s a lot of features to work with, but as an aspiring vlogger/YouTuber, I’d like to work without having any of those issues. Other than that, this app is fantastic!!!

If I could give this app 0 stars I most definitely would. You are better off Recording on your normal phone and then color grading it in your editing software. I brought this for a whole $15 to think that it will give me a more cinematic Look to my film but not knowing you will have to buy the whole kit which is a an additional $10. With them not evening telling you that you will not get these features without it. With me knowing how to work the app and using it comparing it to my normal phone footage it is not worth spending 15 dollars. I wish I could get a refund for this piece of *$% highly disappointed

Hate applications like this...I decided to buy the app for the soul purpose of shooting in Log format. So I pay $15 and open the app and select Log and guess what? I can't use Log because it's blocked by an in-app purchase! So, being annoyed and wanting to get my Log content, I throw another $10 bucks at this to get it enabled. Now guess what? They can't even support Log format for anything above 60fps! Quick and easy way to throw away $25 bucks.

Can you add built-in Stereo Audio recording? iPhone XS Max’s native Camera App records audio in Stereo and it makes a BIG difference.

I’m so upset with this I love the app and what I can do with it but I do photography first and cinema second and the fact that I can’t take a photo in this is the biggest breaker for me I Can’t believe for 15$ I can’t take a photo I’m sticking with procam I’m sorry if your a into videos this is great but if you want to take photos forget it

With enough crisp light—some 2ks a handful of 650s and 1ks—you could make a h*** of a feature with FilmicPro. I believe that the mistake people make is they think because it’s an iPhone they should go all low-budge and Indie and let their contrast ratios get way beyond 2:1. If you keep your actors moving smoothly and use old school techniques like 3- and 4-point lighting I think 80 percent of an audience wouldn’t know you shot on an iPhone.

I love this app and it’s been great creating cinematic film via a smartphone medium but this app makes it so difficult to capture the moment. The app doesn’t save half of the footage I take in app OR to my camera roll. In the app, the video will save as a black screen that is audio-less and the initial footage won’t show up in my camera roll. The black footage is not recoverable so if this happens - which it does very often for me - you’ve lost the majority of the footage you’ve taken. I hope this is fixed soon!!

This app has been so great for shooting on iPhone, I really love it. Recently though, whenever I film, the app will randomly freeze, and then a little while later the time jumps ahead to where it should be and it starts again. And then whatever I was shooting gets messed up. It is incredibly frustrating. Also, my husband uses it as well, but he doesnt deal with this issue, so I’d really love to be able to understand why it’s happening. I have deleted and re-downloaded the app so many times and it still does it.

Someone who recently had a new passion for filmmaking, I wanted to make short films myself. However, while money was tight, this app really came in handy because it has everything a young, raw filmmaker needs to start pursuing his career. Especially with the changes in aspect ratio, resolution, frame rate, etc. Not to mention the fact that this app supports many of the drones, tripods, stabilizers needed to create amazing shots and tell great stories. This app became a filmmaker’s dream real quick and I am truly grateful that the App Store has this app in the first place.

Touch screen response is sluggish, video capture is sluggish. All my other camera apps don’t demonstrate this behavior. As I recollect, v5 worked OK.

Really enjoying this app, much more powerful than the stock camera app as others have noted. However, the "A" button that allows me to see focus peaking, exposure warnings, etc is no longer working. I just downloaded the app, and yesterday it worked fine, but today I cannot get the functionality working. Hoping it will get fixed before my next shoot. Overall, great app.

The playback feature is a joke. I don't know why they insist on having zero onscreen controls for the video playback mode. For certain kinds of content it makes it unusable. This problem has existed for 2+ years and they still haven't improved it.

Bought this app 6 days ago and I’m still waiting for a fix. The screen is just black. Contacted customer support and was told to wait a “couple days”. Still waiting. Update: the screen is no longer black but when I want to playback footage it doesn’t show the footage I just took. It also doesn’t show the filming time consistently. Sometimes it shows that it’s filming for a few seconds and sometimes it doesn’t show it at all.

When i press record button it does not record but it used to work with iPhone X. Pls add XS support. P.S. on Bluetooth options its shows that I connected to Osmo mobile. And btw Osmo Mobile is first generation. Pls fix. Thank you

The app has quite a few options I appreciate like locking the exposure and awb. However, the iso and shutter speed settings are not laid out well. These should just be a simple slider like in MoviePro. Also, why doesn’t the zoom work with the DJI Osmo? Or why can’t the app record audio in stereo? The flat video setting is alright but LOG isn’t really usable due to banding during color correction. The exposure and focus locks should just be buttons instead of some off square with double tapping. This app needs to be simplified and more straightforward.

Unusable if you have new iPhones. Video lags and it’s shaky, app does not use image stabilization and the video quality is terrible Every video looks like its 10 FPS, does not matter what quality do you use, built in camera app is way better even without all that professional settings

A very powerful tool. A bit of a learning curve for beginners, but there are tons of tutorials to help with that. Contacted Support for what I thought was an issue uploading to my iCloud Drive and they got back to me in less than 24 hours and even included a short video in their email response showing me exactly what to do. Stellar all around!

I hesitate to write this because on the surface filmic pro is unbelievable. An app that really pushes the iPhone to be a filming phone. However after the last update my iPhone 7 has overheated twice which resulted in shutting down. Three days ago and the second time it overheated resulted in my phones microphone not working. So now I need to take it in. Before you say I was doing something irresponsible. I have had this app for sometime now. Also, both times it overheated it was in October and I was filming indoors. This is a high processing app and to some degree might be too much for iPhones in general. I truly doubt filmic pro will but me a new phone or you for that matter so buy at your own risk.

I would recommend putting a feature request on your main site so that the community can vote them up or down. I have the Remote app and I know of the Apple Watch feature but why no option in the Pro to enable the physical power button directly on the recording device to start and stop the recording? Also a manual trigger for time lapse option would help with hyperlapse recordings.

I've had some frustrations with this app but luckily the Dev is still supporting it and very responsive to messages. Overall this app is the best I've found and the remote companion app is a must have. When combined with my iPad mini I'm able to use my iPhone x as my main camera for my online videos.

I have been using and recommending FilmicPro to my students for the past couple of years. However, I have encountered issues with audio monitoring with the latest version that made me look elsewhere after I contacted their customer service and got nowhere. They did not put much effort in solving my issue and blamed my setup when everything was working properly before the app update. They will not contact you via phone so you will have to keep writing emails back and forth. The issue persists with this latest update (6.7.2) so ProMovie Recorder+ is my new app from now on.

I love Filmic Pro on my past iPhone devices! However, I recently upgraded to the new iPhone XS Max and whenever I use this app horizontally green lines appear blocking the camera. My phone has no the issue with any app except this one, my favorite app. It lets me film vertically with no problem but the green lines on the horizontal screen is driving me insane. I would love for you guys to fix this!

Users should not have to connect to iTunes in order to save videos to their iPhone. Not every one has access to a laptop to connect to iTunes. Shot a shortfilm and this was a big waste of money. I would’ve been better off just shooting it straight from my phone. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

The log profile is based on under-exposure photography. Most manufacturers, including Sony The solution is simple. automatic exposure adjustment option(like Aperture mod dslr) or force 2-stop under-exposure shooting with log profile

If I could return an app I would. Three times now this app has bugged out on me and when I go to edit the video froze at some point during the shot while the audio kept rolling and then they're mixed up. Hours of shooting wasted. You'd think an app that commands such a high price tag would work. Absolutely raging over here.

I shot at 24fps it cuts or repeats lots of frames

Firstly, I would like to say this app is brilliant! This is my go to filmography app hands down! With that being said I had a couple of questions. - do you all have plans on supporting the Freefly Movi cinema robot now that they’ve released their API? - do you all have any plans in supporting LOG for 4k 60fps? Currently, I’m only able to do LOG at 4k 30fps... - lastly, is there a way, or do you have plans, to adjust the ISO while the shutter is locked without locking the focus? It would be nice to be able to adjust the ISO with a locked shutter on the fly while maintaining auto focus...

Update: Developer has been very responsive to addressing issues with the app and I believe most if not all of my issues has been resolved. Adding 1 more star! Original Review: I think this app has probably the most comprehensive feature set of any app in its class. And the features are mostly well thought out. I like the look and feel of the interface overall. But there are a few annoying bugs with this interface where things just don't work like they are supposed to. For instance, sometimes the button to bring up the manual controls would just stop working for no apparent reason. Literally nothing happens when you push the button. And the swipe in gesture to activate the manual controls would not work either. This has happened to me more than a few times already. And I have only had this app for a couple of days. Also, I was able to swipe left and delete a video in the library. But when I tried to swipe again to delete a 2nd video, the delete option would not come up. Another one, when I try to bring up the imaging panel, it would tell me that the white balance settings are not available, or something along those lines. Can't remember the exact message. Again, has happened more than once. The only way I have found to temporary "fix" all of the above mentioned issues is to completely shut the app down and restart. Overall, I like what they done with the app. And I am hopeful that they will get all these annoying interface issues patched up soon. Developers, please spend a bit more time testing the app prior to release. I have found all these bugs in less than 5 hours total of using the app. Taking only one star away given the awesome feature set.

Honestly, finding an exceptional phone app for professional video seems impossible. But not any more that is. Filmic Pro met every aspect I was looking for. Including its focus and lighting features. If there is another app for professional cinematography, it obviously could not complete with this. I am very pleased with its performance and accessibilities.

My sound went off all of a sudden and I went through all the settings and it still wouldn’t work, please fix this because I love this app a lot:)

Bought this app 6 days ago and I’m still waiting for a fix. The screen is just black. Contacted customer support and was told to wait a “couple days”. Still waiting.
