I've tried many photo apps and this one always seems to be one of the top for serious photo geeks using an iPhone. Love how they made it almost like using a DSLR. Lots of thought went into this app and it shows and it keeps getting better with steady updates. Highly recommended for anyone that's wants a little more control over the iPhone camera settings.

I have only had this app for about a week. While it does have a ton of features that I have yet to discover , this app freezes like crazy! I have to close and reopen it almost every time I use it. It's really annoying . It also has a lag when moving the phone around.

Good sharp images. Sluggish on my iPhone 6+; but worked fine on my iPhone 5.

Updated 8-18-2016 I love this app. I still would love to see to feature requests. 1) A quick button on the main screen to access the white balance setting 2) I would like another quick launch button to access the focus bias option. This to items I use all the time so much that this update would really make my life easier. 3) I really need a Structure and Sharpening Mask. The iPhone 6s Plus is to soft for me and make my pics look out of Focus. I would love to be able to set a certain sharpening Mask that can be used for all pics. Like setting a filter this is used for all pics. 4) I would love to be able to hold down the shutter button to obtain the 10 Fps shooting mode of my iPhone 6s Plus. The above features would really make this app even better.

It looks like a nice app, but doesn't do RAW files on my IPhone 6, which is the reason I wanted it. The specs didn't mention that, only specifying the version number of IOS. I'm not sure what phone you need for the RAW capability.

Great App! The best camera app I have used. You do have to know some camera technology to make the best use of it. It is not buggy if you know what you're doing.

A nicer camera app than the bulit in one, but controls are clumsy and challenging to opperate especially if you dont have kid size hands. I purchased this for a vacation and the app quit saving the images to camera roll. Two days of memories and images to keep are now not there. Developer tried to accuse me of changing the settings which did not happen. Massive glitch to which they responded ignorantly. I may keep useing the app but not for anything noteworthy. Apps that dont perform properly and where you might be accused of not opperationg correctly are quickly abandoned.

This app used to be the best camera app hands down. Unfortunately does not work with iOS11. Super bummed!

My go to camera. Are some serious lag issues in the above configuration. Wondering if this is being looked into

The best camera app hands down & has remained that way for a long time. Yes, the + & - parameters are difficult especially with big dumb thumbs like mine. But, this is the closest to an actual camera as it gets & the features are huge. Also, a very healthy & helpful manual component alongside it. Get it. Completely worth the price.

While I like this app and find the TIFF format to be a big improvement over JPEG, the instability on my iPhone 4S makes the app frustrating to use. When it's not crashing to the home screen, it's locking up or refusing to respond to shutter presses. So much potential, but the endless missed shots make me regret my purchase. This app needs work. Update: Since posting this review, I've moved on to other hardware: first an iPhone 6 Plus and now an iPhone XS. Initially, it ran well on the 6 Plus and was a pleasure to use. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case for the 6 Plus and that has not been resolved with the move to the new XS hardware. At this point in time – October 2018 – the live view lags; the volume buttons no longer work as a hardware shutter release; and file saving is unreliable. It is essentially unusable. That's a real shame.

No updates, doesn’t work with iOS 12. App appears to be abandoned!

This app is perfect except I'd like the ability to use my volume button as the shutter button just like the iOS camera app does. Especially adding support for the EarPods volume buttons so I can get a steady shot on my tripod without having to use the timer delay.

I’m no pro when it comes to taking photos on my iPhone. This app though lets me play with filters, formats and then some! It simply turns my iPhone into a DLSR! I love this app!

It’s been almost a year since the last update and there’s no support for newer iPhone XS Max phones (or even iPhone X for that matter)

Great app for us amateurs and pros alike. Camera app has many filters that I find very uselful. Just wish it came with a user's guide and tips/tricks for using adjusting settings.

I am not sure if there is a problem. I have been taking several low light shots. And each time the exposure is way off from my manual setting.

Hope Raw support is coming soon. Otherwise nice app

Brought this app thinking maybe it can be better than some others I purchased but that's not the case it's very laggy when you go and take others shot in a different area.

This app does not have the smoothness of some manual photo apps – for example, you have to repeatedly and laboriously hit a series of plus or minus signs to set your parameters. Further, it has reduced the longest shutter speed from 1/2 to 1/3 sec. But it has a cool looking interface and for those that are looking to apply a lot of true photographic filters (film type, etc.) this is a worthwhile app to have in your arsenal.

Since iOS 11 it quit saving images. Have to use another app now. Also don’t like the tiny exposure compensation and adjustment buttons, would much rather just slide my finger like the built in app. Looking for an alternative.

I will start by saying that the features in this application are darned near without equal across all iPhone camera apps. It's truly impressive the functionality that is packed into this app. And no in-app purchases - thank you! Where I find great disappointment is in the implementation, meaning, how one interacts with the app to make use of the features: First, on the surface, the idea of mimicking a DSLR layout sounds pretty good. In use though one is reminded that the DSLR layout works so well due to tactile feedback. You know where a switch/button is by feel. That is not recreated here as the iPhone is a touch screen. What you end up with is a fair clutter of distractingly rendered 3D buttons which make zero use of a touch screen's benefit. For example, hitting the flash "button" to toggle its state would be best implemented through an update of the icon on the button. This does not happen - instead the state is represented by a symbol resident in the viewfinder area, contributing to on-screen clutter. Other icons in the VF include white balance, metering, iso, speed, AF and AE lock, etc. To be fair, there is a button which can toggle all of the indicators off, HOWEVER, it also turns off the ability to see what your speed and iso is in any shooting mode and further disables the ability to adjust exposure in Auto mode (the adjusters disappear). In short, reasonable usability requires one to get used to clutter. Second, a key area where DSLR duplication makes sense is through the use of sliders to control speed, iso, and exposure compensation. This is a good mimicking of DSLR dials. Here is where the application majorly disappoints. Ironically, the choice made here is to use stepper "buttons" (in the viewfinder) instead of sliders - small +/- symbols. They are difficult targets, easy to fat finger and frustratingly slow to use. Third, you cannot use the camera in left hand landscape mode. The app seems to read that orientation as upside down and moves the shutter and associated buttons to the right side, away from the left hand. I happen to be left handed. This takes the rigid DSLR layout analogy a bit too far in my opinion. Perhaps a more positive way to look at it is that this app requires two hands under particular circumstances. In summary, for the slow and methodical shooter I can see the feature richness being something which wins over many and makes up for other shortcomings. However, for a street shooter looking for easily accessible controls with minimal fuss I for one would take a pass. Lastly, for the record, I took the time to share much of this feedback with the developer well in advance of this review - I didn't hear anything back.

For any Pro this is what you’ve been looking for. Total control. Loads of options. Complete control of settings. If you’re unable to come out with a pro-quality photo using this app, it is your own fault and you need to review your basic knowledge of photography. It is what I’ve been looking for ever since I first got my iPhone! And it is great with the iPhone 6s! Go for it!

I had many issues with earlier versions, but with a new version, a new 5s phone, and iOS 8, it's great, nearly everything I want in a camera app. I have about a dozen different camera apps, each because they have features I could only find in each specific app. With this latest release it looks like I can delete three-fourths of those. If this adds panorama, HDR, repeating interval timer, and a couple other features, it will be the only app I need. It has a beautiful interface, well thought out controls, packed with features that compete with expensive SLRs, it's great as-is and regularly getting better!

I've always had some lag issues with this app but they've gotten pretty bad. Sometimes it's fine. Other times... Choppy viewfinder and a lot more lag than in the past (E.g. while framing a shot or immediately after taking one, on HQ JPG mode). Hope to see it back to form someday. Finally, battery drain is extreme compared to other camera apps (VSCO, Filmborn).

Wow! This app is very very cool! I LOVE how it puts those impressive controls on the sides of my viewfinder. I'm an amateur photographer (composing a photo = "say cheese and hold your hand up") and I actually feel like I got a shot at taking "pro level" photos with this app!

Very nice app. And I'd make it my 'reach for' except there's always a struggle as to whether it'll take a pic or not. Click on the button ... maybe, maybe not. Shake set to notification only ... maybe a bug where shake means no-go regardless of setting. But oddly it saves a previous capture from weeks ago! Yes, buggy. That's why I use the Apple camera app for quick shots. 645 when I have 20 minutes or so.

This is by far the best app that I have found. My Canon 60d doesn't see nearly as much action since I loaded 645 Pro Mk III on my iPhone. Aside from the outstanding performance of the app itself, the support is incredible. I had upgraded my iPhone to IOS 11 yesterday, and it caused a glitch with saving of photos to the camera roll. I had shot several photos of the Mars/Venus conjunction at sunrise this morning, and then could not find them. I sent a support message at 6:15 am, and had a reply from Mike Hardaker within minutes telling me how to correct the problem. (IOS 11 removes 645 Pros access to photos, and then when you reset it, it doesn't update until you completely shut down the app). Best app investment I've ever made.

This app use to work great. Now it crashes all the time. It is totally unusable now. Are there plans to fix it or is this now a dead application.

In terms of picture quality and flexibility, this is the best camera app. In terms of battery, this is horrible. I have 6s, and every time I use take a pic with this app I lose 2% - 4% of my battery. I'd like to use this app more, but at that rate, I'd be hard pressed to when out for a day. Fix that and it's 5 stars

Keeps crashing on my iPhone 6+. I can't take a picture. Waste of money. Stay away.

I've been using this app for a short time now and am very impressed with both the image quality and control over the images I can capture. Using it with an iPhone 6plus.

Love this for it's super high quality and customization. Keeps getting better with every update. Keep up the great work!

While I am impressed with this app, what turns me off is the fact that the screen freezes after a few shots. You then have to exit and go back into the app only for the same thing to happen. I've uninstalled and the whole thing and still the same. Hopefully, this gets fixed because this would be a great app on my 6s+.

I’m a professional photographer working now for over 14 years shooting with film and digital. If you want the controls of a real camera in your pocket look no further. This app has so much customization and control, and it can all disappear to Auto with the flick of your finger. I couldn’t be happier with this app and with this current version, which basically lets me shoot “RAW” uncompressed TIFF files or whatever you want even with other morbid apps running in the background. I’m running it on my iPhone 4s and I can shoot photos that rival what most are getting on a 6 Plus. Btw my housemate just downloaded this to his 6 Plus and the photos are off-the-charts gorgeous. Most photographers weren’t getting this kind of quality out of early DSLRs—let alone the customization and options for ‘pre-shot' and post-processing.

645PRO is my go-to app for the images that I will be running through a professional workflow using Photoshop on my desktop computer. And to be honest, it has been since this app first came out. As a matter of fact, I even wrote a published article about it that Michael Hardaker will remember, because the images from 645 PRO were so superior to the JPG’s that came out of the camera app in the iPhone. I am a professional photographer that has been shooting since 1975. I have done almost all the specialties in photography but currently specialize in fine art landscapes. Anyone who has done serious landscapes knows that image details matter. I am not going to tell anyone that our phone cameras can replace a high-end DSLR. Based on the current state of technology (as of 6/2016), they cannot. But I will tell you that the best camera is the one you have with you, and many times, that ends up being my iPhone 6 Plus. So I am always into maximizing image quality based on what I am able to produce in the moment. 645 PRO allows me to do that. When I see a shot that catches my eye and my iPhone is all I have with me, I use this app in bracket mode set to -2EV-0EV - +2EV. By having 645 PRO do three bracketed images with each single press of the shutter button, I get 3 images that give me the exposure options I need to produce professionally blended images that look like what the eye sees. I also configure the Settings to deliver TIFF’s as the output format so I can do non-destructive editing. For iphoneographers (or ipadographers), more apps are now showing up in the App Store that offer advanced editing options involving layers and image blending. Finally, I have seen the numerous comments over time about this app not functioning properly. All I can say to that is I keep my phone updated and I do not abuse it. To date, I have never run into any problem with this app other than a slight processor heating tendency which was corrected long ago in one of the earlier updates. BOTTOM LINE —> If you are a photographer that appreciates a camera working with you rather than against you, this is your app. If you are a snap-shooter who does not know the difference in JPG and TIFF format, or what manual vs automatic means, this app offers a complexity of options that may present a steep learning curve. But if you want to learn photography vs snapshots, then this might be for you too.

Hands down the best. If you like using your phone for photography, this is it. No other app gives you this level of control over your pictures.

I want to like this app, and have invested some time in trying to figure everything out to create best possible photos . . . It seems the pics I have taken with this app turn out worse/blurry than my iPhone 6 Plus. Seems to be quite a bit of lag time - If subject is not completely still this will without a doubt result in a blurry photo. Not a very good shutter speed. ☹️

Wanted this as a run and gun camera when u dont have my dslr, it has the look, the feel but no video and still use a lot of battery, the tiff files are much smaller from the "ProCam" app for taking same picture same angle it's 36MB and 48MB from "ProCam" app that much more details in picture and it gives video and more... Skin is great but wanted to see more... Editing options, video and more...looking to change this review...

Why is my iPhone 6 Plus getting SO hot after using this app for less than 2 minutes? Other than that issue, I really like this app. If the overheating can be fixed, I'd gladly give it 5 stars.

This gem mimics an enthusiast DSLR interface, offers quality film modes, and excellent output options. The first allows for a shortened learning curve; the second for surprisingly sophisticated captures; and the third for the best possible file output to allow for secondary manipulation with higher-end editing software. Overall, it's an absolute pleasure to use assuming you are comfortable with higher end cameras and are simply looking to periodically replicate the experience on your iPhone. If I have a criticism it is the fact that it seems quite battery intensive, at least on my iPhone 6. You won't be shooting for hours with this app. Regardless, quality is quality. This is a superior product.

This is a brilliant idea and the design and execution of the design is without flaw. Functionally, it can be a bit clumsy and it consistently takes 2-4 photos with one touch of screen "button". Fix that and it could be a 4 star phone. Add some noise reduction and basic enhancements tools and it's a 5-star app.

If you’re interested in the technical aspects of photography and want to capture better images with an iPhone, 645 Pro has a lot of options. You can use filters in the camera to get a particular effect or save an unfiltered image for post. Or the app can do both, it’s highly adaptable. The on-board 58 page User Guide details the many configurable functions. 645 coaxes every thing out of the iPhone to make is as much like a DSLR as possible. And it has old-school film features: if you want to simulate shooting with 35mm Kodachrome and a #85 warm filter or 6x7 b&w street photogrsphy with an orange filter, this app can do it. Notes: • the app simulates glass filters (including grads) and emulates a dozen b&w and color film stocks. • it also has every film size format, from 6x6 to 645 to 6x17. • I’ve found the developer to be responsive to inquiries and he updates the app regularly. I give it five stars. ★★★★★

The greater control over focus, exposure, and image quality are, of course, quite welcome, but the film/grain emulation as well as color filtration for greyscale images are alone worth the price of the app. Someday Instagram will catch on to these tweaks. The interface, however, inexplicably emulates that of a physical point and shoot camera, instead of using the possibilities of the iPhone's hi-res touchscreen. The simulated three dimensional is is a distraction, and the interface simply can't rotate properly for square/portrait orientation (shooting square is most natural in the vertical). An actual camera has limited surface area and thus has to cram minimal symbols into circular buttons. No need for that here. Tapping for a pop up menu and sliding for selections would ease the photographic process. Right now, valuable features are buried four screens deep in a menu that acts exactly like it only has the directional arrows of a hardware camera. The filter menu brings up a needless 3D carousel when a two-d layout with fixed locations would be faster. A slider would be vastly preferable to tapping tiny increments. Saving favorite filters would be perfect. HDR would be a godsend but I imagine it's expensive to develop. Still, I keep coming back to this app because of the film and grain emulation. I hope the interface is eventually streamlined.

I get the (DNG “RAW”) image I want and responsive support. I'd happily pay 3X as much. Just an ordinary customer…no relation w developer other than that
