I love your new design. Great job! I go to your news app now everyday.

If you want the real news, don’t go to this app!..They only publish what they want to hear! No regards for the real news!!...I’m tired of all the fake news!!

With each update release you have succeeded in making this app harder to navigate and less useful. I would prefer to be able to see several lead stories at a time on a single page so I can decide what I want to read. Scrolling for minutes through large colorful boxes spread around in senseless order does not facilitate a quick capture of the news. NBC used to be one of must first reads and now it is last.

Big lag between articles. I want print news, you know that thing where I actually read the news in a NEWS app (not watch videos)! May I suggest you organize the videos under “videos” like before, give us a choice in a clean, neat format? Keep it simple. App has Given me attention deficit disorder It’s so scattered, get some organization to it. Most of all, I can no longer zoom in on any photos, why do this?!! It’s frustrating. I like MSNBC, but will use another app if I can’t zoom.

I liked to get informe on the news, but after this unnecessary update it is impossible. I gave it a try, but sadly I deleted it.

This app was better before the update.

Ads. Ads ads ads ads ads. Ads! Ad. Add ad. Add ads and more ads. Add ad for ads. If one looks hard enough, ignores most of the screen and squints they might find news. Recommendation NBC - Go back to the mildly obnoxious ads that occasionally intruded. Barring that, users either watch on a laptop with uBlock or move to other sources. Not only are the ads interfering with content, but on poor connections and metered ones it will frustrate and cost you money.

Since you’ve changed your format there are ads constantly changing while trying to read an article. And there are many ads to each article. While that happens the article moves up & down. It is very distracting and annoying. I am surprised that this has not been noticed and hasn’t been fixed. If this continues I’ll have no choice but to read the news elsewhere.

The older version of this app was much easier to use. You’ve made a mistake with this new version.

Less clutter, and easier to find interesting pieces. Better response times.

Do not want all the video! I like to be able to read it and NOT disturb anyone around me. Please have reading articles as an option.

I don’t like the way the new format is organized by category. It was better just as a flow of uncategorized articles. Also, when you try to read the articles, the ads get in the way and it skips around. You can’t even read and article without losing your place

They took away the ability to save articles, along with all of the articles that I had already saved. 🤷‍♂️ And to think I was hoping the new version would propagate saved articles ACROSS my devices … 🤦‍♂️ Also, wow. Having the article text jump off screen to make way for ADVERTISING makes the app nearly intolerable now. 🤯

This app has way too many video stories now. Most of the time I prefer to read the news, not watch it. Ugh.

Too many videos. Why not just turn the TV on instead of trying the news

After updating I couldn’t find a thing and all you get is “top videos”. I want actual articles on the topics I’m interested in, not watching YouTube videos.

Nothing opens now all it does is buffer!

Not impressed with the new app! I am not even able to choose which segments I want to watch - NBC has made the decisions for me. Less readable content and NBC has decided which videos are available to watch from the Today Show! Switching to GMA and deleting this app - it’s not worth the trouble trying to navigate around to try and find something I was interested in watching or reading. Please explain the method to your madness on this one! It doesn’t even deserve one star!

The old Ui allowed you to choose the news sections to read. The new UI does not.

Wow, I didn’t think the design could get worse but I was wrong. It went from the last interface of being too simple (way too much white background) to this new heavy, clunky interface that is just plain ugly. I miss the app design 3 iterations back that had the peacock feather click wheel (circa 2013) that each peacock feather on the wheel you could click on for different news topics (weather, entertainment, business, etc.) that would take you to that topics content page. I LOVE NBC News but this latest app update design will probably force me to delete the app and get my news elsewhere.

Another great app distorted by an update. It’s a shame, someone should be ashamed . This WAS my first read in the morning. Your not making pianos .you should be clearly and precisely reporting the news. Kill the gloss.

While I will occasionally watch a video on a subject I’m particularly interested in, I generally like to read articles. It’s very disappointing that this newest update leaves the app choked with videos. I have terrible service at my office so I always loaded the app and then went in to read it later. This is no longer possible as it appears each article loads as it’s chosen. Very disappointing! I find this update clumsy, chaotic and confusing. The three C’s- never good.

Unlike other reviews, I do not mind the format change, BUT there’s a bug. When you select an article to read you get “stuck” in that news category and you can’t get back to the main news page. This requires that you k*** the app and restart it to see the main news page. Big bug for a news app, and it was not there in the old version. Arg.

When I want a news update I don’t want to be forced to continually have to scroll past embedded videos, pictures and ads that cause stuttering and freezing of the news story feed. The text shifts and freezes because of all the non text material cut into it. The embedded videos auto play even when auto play is turned off. Overall the app is bloated, clunky and freezes just about every time it’s opened. It’s gone from a straight forward news app to something that’s frustrating slow and painful to use

Not only is it harder to locate stories, if I expand the screen on my iPad I must quit the app. The X that should reduce the scene does not work.

Can’t search for specific items; once again NBC is controlling what it wants you to see. No wonder Trump supporters don’t like them. I’m deleting this app.

I get that you’re trying to move forward and be innovative with this new update, but come on, some of us want to actually read our news and not just be inundated with videos. I’ll see a video with a story that interests me...but where do I go on the app to find an actual article? Are you telling me I have to just watch a video? Not so convenient for those of us used to reading our news during our bus/train commute. Or just sitting at our desks. (I hate the online update too.) It’s amazing how upsetting this is. NBC has been my go-to news for over a decade and now you’re forcing me to find a new news source simple based on the fact that you have a c*** app! Get it together and make it more user friendly and easier to find actual articles to read on actual subjects that are interesting....not just videos.

Latest update ruined this app. Constantly loading and reloading of adds makes reading articles impossible. What happened to bring able to save articles? AND WHERE ARE THE ONES I ALREADY HAD SAVED??? This was one of my favorite news apps. Now, I'll open after the next update. If I don't delete it first. The new icon looks like a tombstone. Delete news and replace it with R.I.P. and the redesign will be complete.

I NEED to be able to choose the subject matter and enjoyed the most previous version immensely. This one give zero choices. Bleh

This was my go-to news app. I loved it. It was easy to find what I was looking for, and easy to search. After the redesign, not so much. The new titles of categories are very confusing, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to search for a specific article. I know people can be resistant to change, and often change is good. Unfortunately I’ll probably be changing to an app that is more intuitive to use.

Every time I want to read an article, there is a long loading screen, which prevents me from using the app if I don’t have service. Please fix this!

I’m not really sure who will sit and watch news clips that they didn’t select in this app. The UX and usability is terrible. Is this a joke, NBC? MSNBC -audio- for free? I can watch MSNBC live from various restreaming sites. What is the purpose of this app?

I used to love this app. Clear and easy to navigate. I have no idea why they decided to s**** it up. The new format is confusing, lacks formatting, and is plain old bad!! Please fix this!!!

Big photos taking up far too much space, do not quality make. Way harder work finding what you want to read.

The most recent format change has, for me, moved this from my most to my least preferred news app. The previous format made it easy to find stories I was interested in and to skip those I had no interest in. The new format gives way too much screen space to whatever stories someone else decides are important and makes it harder for me to find the stories that are important to me. I don't like the new format. What you had before worked, but someone decided a change was needed. It wasn't. Stories now load slower - I'm not thrilled by watching the peacock's tail spin! Simpler is better! Back up one update, please.

Get a new website!

For God’s sake; if it’s not broken, don’t fix it!! I used your app plus the AP app to get clear and easy to search/read news articles. Yours has now become unusable. The huge fonts your using are so distracting it’s like your trying to force me into reading what you want me to read. Videos, videos everywhere! NO! I come to your app to READ!! I can’t easily tell what’s the latest or most recent news anymore. I’m not going to be able to use this as a “go to” app, which is sad as I did depend on it. I’m going to consider deleting it now.

Are we supposed to be in mourning or is this your way of a protest ala whiny NFL players? You’ve ruined the best news app there was. My head spins trying to navigate the news. Go back to normalcy and give us back our app. I’m kneeling as I write this.

I really used to like this news app.. I’ve had others that I have deleted because they became annoying. NBC’s news app is constantly updating ads mid article. Causing the text I am trying to read to jump around the screen. And forcing me to find my place again every minute or so. Abusing your readers like this for the sake of advertising $$$ is unacceptable. Fit it! It might even make a good article: How news apps irritate their readership for advertising $.

Enough is enough! Pop ups and ads constantly filling my already too small screen! There are way better and less( greedy revenue) apps to use. Deleted

Too many pop up adds covering the news stories.

Screen doesn't refresh right, many videos don't play correctly (if at all), very slow. Need more? Save yourself frustration and just use Chrome to view the site and everything pretty well (except for the annoying ads everywhere).

Notifications are a train wreck. 25% of the time it’s actual breaking news. The other 75% of the time it’s ‘watch our news report on coal in America’ or here’s an ‘opinion’ article about a breaking news story. Just show me breaking news not ads for your app or tv coverage. App has been uninstalled.

Missing Live TV access with TV Provider Login.

Can't read anything because the ads cause the article to scroll up and down to adjust the page. Constantly have to scroll and hold down the page so it doesn't move but as I lift up my finger is goes crazy. Poor programming!

Not always reliable with getting the recent news loaded but when the news is up to date it is a fabulous app.

I like the live news idea, but I find the live audio stream disrupted by dead space too often to rate higher. I would rate higher if developers get this broadcast disruption under control.

NBC needs to bring back the Breaking News app! That was the best news app out there.

I grabbed this app, hoping for breaking news alerts. The configuration said that it’d be big news, important news. Then I got an alert about the olympics. Deleted the app. If you can’t configure the app to choose what topics you want to receive notifications on, maybe actually have the news alerts be important. If I want Olympic news, I’m sure you have another app just for that.

I understand that commercials are how the bills get paid. But i just sat through several 30 second commercials in order to watch a few video clips of the Olympics. The “news” clips were uselessly short. One literally lasted less than 3 seconds. A 10:1 commercial to news ratio won’t work. Goodbye app.

Since your last update, the widget functionality on my iPhone 8 no longer works again. This time, I can at least see the stories, but the links within each story headline don’t work. Seems like basic functionality they should be tested before release.

I love NBC News since I was a kid. Been watching since 7:00am today and not one mention of Black History Month...🙁

At some point the app started stealing audio as soon as you open it. I could understand if I clicked on video content but I should be able to read the news and listen to my own music. Please fix!

Your new update feels old and I will never use it. I have already down loaded ABC News and found it to be everything you use to be. Thanks ABC for posting your complete news programs in a timely manner. FYI NBC, please take a look at your activation link. I couldn’t get your link to accept any code I submitted to validate my DIRECTV provider. I only got a error message of SC 400.

I like NBC and “no offense” ABC also. You guys give both sides of a story and the full story. The Public has the right to hear the whole story! In like Fox, you only get the ONE side. All they want to do is trash people. I’ve lived long enough to know most people are good and try to help those in need when ever possible, because at the end of the day, we’re all in this together and should respect each other’s views and opinions. With that said, I’ll never turn on a FOX Channel again, EVER! A closing word to all, AMERICA has always been Great!!! JB

I really enjoy receiving my news reading. There are many videos presented and I also enjoy these however why am I bombarded by commercials?

You need to put an search for an title or name of story... it can be confusing at times...

NBC has always respect freedom of speech, you can rely on truth telling from the reporters. NBC means to me “NEVER BE CON”.

This is regarding the iPhone app. I use the app by skimming down the home page and just choosing to read certain articles that interest me. Ugh, every time I read an article and return to the main page I’m not in the same spot where I was, or for a split second I am but then the page content jumps, and I don’t know if the spot I left off is above or below where I am now. This seems due to ads randomly appearing or disappearing. SO ANNOYING. Also, there doesn’t seem to be any logical organization anymore. This has been my go-to national news app for years and I am just irritated trying to use it. Considering deleting.

I don’t like the new format. It’s difficult to follow and at my age, with vision issues, I much prefer the old format. Please change it back. Thank you.

The mobile app for NBC news frequently includes two and sometimes three repeats of the same articles in the same presentation, making the reading of the news issue longer than necessary.

I need a quick overview w details and the option to get more details. As with all journalism now you need to watch your biases and try to emulate the great journalists of the past and report the need. Too much opinion works it’s way into reporting now.

Love having MSNBC live stream accessible on Apple TV! Only reason I use the app. However every couple of weeks the app doesn’t display the stream and instead “User Authentication Token Not Available” displays. Sign in, sign out, no difference. Few days later it fixes itself and then happens again. Why can CNN build a flawless app but NBC can’t figure it out?

This app just plays and you cannot use the iOS core audio controls that all other iOS apps use. No pause upon removal of AirPods No control of stream on Apple Watch No controls on lock screen of iOS device. Fix this please.

The pop ups make this app hideous

The new app appears on my Apple TV about a month ago. I had used it with Spectrum as my provider up until then. At that point login not allowed because I was “in an area formerly served by Time Warner Cable”. Not exactly true because I get the 10 minute daily teaser on MSNBC crisp and clear and then nothing! No way to log in with a code and I still have a cable bill! Please revisit the permissions coding for the app. And fix.

11/7 I love the interface and finally being able to watch MSNBC from my AppleTV, HOWEVER, I have to constantly sign into the app with my tv provider credentials.. it’s insanely annoying. Please fix! 11/8 I’m still having issues having to re-authenticate almost every time I open the app. I use UVerse. This is ridiculous. 12/3 I STILL have to manually activate with my ATT UVerse account every day. This is pretty ridiculous.

I won’t comment about the redesign that makes it harder to find things. However, I can’t get over the fact that this app made it through QA with the “feature” that forgets my TV provider sign-in at least once a day.

Love the NBC News App!

NBC news is clearly biased in the way they report political news. They do not lean left, they are in fact laying down with the Democratic Party. That said, ensure you get news from multiple sources not just this app (The AP and Fox News are good alternatives). They do have interesting views and on non political issues are decent.

The new update slowed the app so much it is almost not usable. Opening the app, the screen is not response for a long period, same when you switch to another section or the live audio.

I’m thrilled to have the MSNBC all day audio, works perfectly. Thanks!

This app is good, but not great. - Home - The home tab is good, but I wish I could customize it a little more by adding, removing or at least reorganizing sections that matter to me. - In Depth - This tab is great and I see no issues with it. - Sections - This tab needs to be redesigned. It’s current layout leave a lot to be desired. Not sure the vertical layout is needed here. Also the Live Video option does not work. - Shows - This tab needs to be redesigned. It’s current layout leave a lot to be desired. Not sure the vertical layout is needed here. - Misc - Wish there was more local news and weather via local affiliates. There should be a Local tab along the bottom that can use your location (or zip code) to connect you to local news. Widget does not work. All I see is “Unable to Load”. Live Audio is really nice for when I’m on the go or working out, but would love if Live Video worked also for times when I can watch.

This seems to be a common issue with Nbc apps. My local station keeps having the issue where it pauses background music. Even with no video stories. Just launching the app pauses background app.

I don’t have a provider. My access to TV is either rabbit ears or through my iPhone. So, there are a lot of programs I either have no access to or delayed access via a recording. I am thrilled that NBC News has added a new live audio link. A lot of times, I don’t care if I can see it (and may not be able to), but I can stay up to date by listening. Thanks for live access to some of my favorite news shows!

They can’t handle activations - they send to broken page. No support, no recovery, nothing. Useless

NBC News app for Apple TV *Finally* allows live-streaming, but the link to authenticate your account with DirecTV is broken. And the email address listed on the “feedback” tab goes to a non-existent account. These should both be easy things to fix, but the problem has persisted for days without being addressed.

I really love MSNBC but I will have to agree with the other commenters. There is no app support, no one to report bugs to. Even the email address given in the app bounces back with no domain. My issue is that the Direct TV link used to authorize TV provider login is broken. It seems to work for other providers, just no Direct TV. It would be an easy fix if I could only talk to someone.

I didn’t think it was possible to make a worse Apple TV app, but the NBC News team did it! The navigation is backwards, the skip controls are disabled. This app not only is case study in terrible app design, Apple should have denied them certifications for failing to meet the guidelines of the HIG.

I have written several emails over the past few weeks because I get an error message when I try to activate my AppleTV. I have yet to receive a response. Customer service is truly disappointing.

I have a directv account. I have tried for the past year or more to get this app to work. Still get SC 400 error when trying to tie app to my directv account. I’d give this app -1 stars if it was possible. The email to send feedback appletv.support@nbcnews is not a valid email. I guess that sums it up. Don’t waste your time with this app.

Everyday (sometimes every time) the app makes me sign in meaning it never remembers my last activation code sign in. Also all apps should stop interspersing alpha and numeric characters in their activation codes. That makes reactivating even more annoying.

I used to watch the older version of your app daily and then you updated it and I can’t sign in with my time Warner cable service. You are now losing service to CNN until you fix this and I don’t like CNN. I like MSNBC. Fix it please and I will change my review.

The older version was a great place for up-to-date stories. The recent update contains 3-day-old news...really?

The UI is clunky, slow, inconsistent, and confusing. I want to switch between channels, but I only seem to find my way to do so by accident. Additionally, I can’t watch for more than 15-20 at a time (half of which is consumed by ads), because trying to activate via DirecTV is completely broken! Bring back the app the WORKED!!

Your Apple TV apps are broken, when trying to activate my DirectTV account it goes to a blank page on both iOS and android. The app loads but quickly freezes and you have to wait like 2+ minutes for it stop. Other then that great app for my daily world news.

Major lag time loading app & headlines. So launching (or switching to) app results in 15-20 second hang delay before it is responsive. They rarely update the app so you are usually stuck w bugs like this for months on end

I use this app on my Apple TV to watch Today in the morning and Nightly News at night. Been doing that for 15months and I was honestly always impressed how quickly I browse the story thumbnails, select it, and then boom, I’m watching it. The content was edited tightly, jumping straight into story. Now all that’s changed for the worse. Let’s me say that I’m a 30 year old tech guy, I learn how to navigate apps very quickly but this is a mess (it’s worse than the Hulu app). Story thumbnails are small. The large icons that group story types are a mystery. The worst change of all is that when you select a story, a giant full screen text graphic comes up, repeating what you already saw. Waste of time. I’m going to have to find a new network if this doesn’t improve quickly.

I come to this app to watch videos and the design is really sharp and helps get me where I want to go quickly.

The new NBC news app on AppleTV is simply terrible. It is cluttered with unnecessary and confusing gimmicky visual elements. The latest version now excludes recent news, meaning most clips are a day old. Who wants day old news? The navigation is confusing or completely absent. Once you start a category of clips, there is no way to skip an unwanted story. Dumb! Also, clips often just don’t run. Blank screen. Oh, and many many more ads. After relying on the NBC news app for a few years, I will now be uninstalling it and going elsewhere for my news content. Your app “updates” actually made it so unusable and unpleasant that I will be uninstalling the app.

No way to contact; no way to get new tvOS or iOS apps to work properly. “Token Request Failed User Not Authorized Error” after signing in with isp. No way to contact customer support either. Is it any wonder NBC is failing? tl;dr Hideous Hopeless Yuck

The app support button on this review page takes us to a website that has no way to get any support. I like the redesign on the Apple TV app, but while watching the Mach news (for example) when I would use Siri to fast forward for a minute, the app would crash soon after (the screen goes blank). This happened repeatedly. Another bug is that the pause play button on the Apple TV remote does not work at all. Clicking the touchpad will pause and play, but the pause play button should also work. But, thank you for continuing to update the app and improve it, and so far I do like the redesign on the Apple TV!

This used to be my favorite news app - the Oct 2018 redesign is terrible! What once was simple is now pointlessly overdone.

AP just got changed. It used to be easy to navigate, select segments I wanted to watch and could pause the segment if I needed to on Appletv. Now I can’t find what I want to watch and am locked out of the Today show.

Clinton collusion with the Russians exposed and nothing mentioned about it on NBC app.

When is NBC going to cover the Hillary &DNC fake dossier? How about funding with Russia? Russia, Russia, Russia, now nothing? Come on major news network!

Always ceases audio when you go from WiFi to cellular. Please fix.

This app doesn't stop spinning. Won't load fully. Stories haven't updated in two weeks popular ribbon is broken fix it It's been a c*** app for years. Gotta delete

enjoying the redesign, but I’m not getting notifications. I have checked all my settings. I’ve also deleted and re-downloaded the app twice. Hope this is fixed soon.

This is the last news app I try. Sometimes I don’t bother, knowing how long it takes to load. You wait through lengthy commercials, then it won’t load the stories. Waste of time.

The live stream on this is the worst. I've just listened to the same sentence 12 times (I counted). Weekends are worse than during the week, but it's bad all the time. Dropped stream, garbled audio, App shuts itself off, etc. I let go of TuneIn, which provides the live stream for this App, for just this reason. It's a disaster. The recent upgrade did nothing to fix. Don't bother with this one...

I wish I could give 1/2 a Star. I am a fan of NBC News. But every time I view a news segment stream or news show stream the stream crashes and the app snaps back to the main page of the app. I have deleted and reloaded the app and restarted the Apple TV and still no luck. Very buggy App. Frustrating. Can’t recommend this App.

I enjoy most of the news that is provided, but the opinion pieces are egregiously terrible and very biased. Please get rid of these trash pieces or at least stop prominently featuring them!

NBC has done a poor job in focusing on the growing disparity of wealth between the top 1% and the rest of the country. Not enough discussion of the hollowed our middle class due to corporate outsourcing and drugs from Mexico.and China. Too much focus at the rights of illegal immigrants and not enough on the communities they settle in and the scarce resources they use in these communities. To much focus at China’s tarries impact on subsidized US business like farming and not enough about the long term lasting economic and security impact of US intellectual property. You can do much better for our Country. Thank you. Curtis Glynn

There is little to no fair and balance reporting in the NBC media as it relates to POTUS, the GOP, our government the centrist republicans etc ... your slant is so loud, I can hardly listen... perhaps you could reevaluate your platform and look at bringing your stance back to neutral....allowing all people to participate and engage on how you report the news...

For local, national and world news, NBC news is where I start and end my news viewing day. I may turn to CNBC or MSNBC ( and CNN for extended coverage and commentary), but I trust the integrity of the journalists on NBC in the past and today. They report what is happening and don’t editorialize unless they warn you, it’s their opinion. When the truth is categorized as “ fake news “, it helps to know there are still real, unbiased, journalists reporting facts that we need to know and trying to ask the hard questions that lead to the truth being told.

I feel I can trust this news organization to give me accurate, up to date information
