The last few versions of this app have functioned adequately but in the most recent version, the comments linked to each article are not functional. It seems every time an update is installed a new issue comes up. Other than that, this app does break news fairly rapidly albeit making too many ‘stories’ out of one politician- or celebrity-derived tweet. I generally try to select for the true journalistic pieces rather than the junk articles.
maiiharper's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 9/9/18 9:53 PM
This is the best part of the app and has been the worst performing part of the app since you switched out from discus a few years ago. Now they are not working at all and the link on your app to contact the editor doesn't work. Time to find a better news source.

The newer build on this app no longer allows Facebook commenting. I noticed issues with being able to assign reactions to posts last week - it would work at times and not work on other occasions. As of this week , there are no comments visible at all. HuffPo developers MIGHT want to look at a fix for this bug for the next app rollout. The rest of the app works well, and I’m on a 5s.

eeeerrrrrfrrggtggg's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 9/28/18 12:52 PM
Spend a little R&D on faster load times on the articles. It’s absurd how bad this is. The download for offline reading takes like 5 minutes (very long). I can have an article loaded, then go somewhere without service and reopen the app and the article can’t load. Also the no internet service screen is very infuriating. Why Christmas lights??
Chester Ben's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 9/28/18 10:20 AM
I was glued to my TV most of them are the day. (You can do that when you are retired.) I would not want is my name dragged through the mud as that! Instead of asking important questions such as “how do you feel about Row vs Wade", they are asking him questions about his trip habits and what happened 36 years ago. Who cares? And what does it matter anyway? I ended up screaming at the TV or whomever was present. I wanted to know positions and how he felt about issues. I will have to say that the Republicans won this round and Democrats looked really sad losing.

I don’t get what HP was attempting to do when they changed the comments section. They notify you that someone responded to your comment but when you click on the response notification it goes to the article but impossible to find the response or, for that matter, what you even wrote to begin with. Seriously cumbersome, discouraging, and an archaic attempt at modern day technology. At least when you change something show us how the heck it’s suppose to work.

The Huff Post delivers the latest news coming out of Washington and or the world. The material is well researched, truthful, and comprehensive. I wake up and the Huff is the first thing I read, then I read my local newspaper, which sadly is like snail mail to email. I love the news stories and the opinions as it gives me perspectives I never thought about. I really enjoy being connected via the Huff Post. I receive the web site quickly, and clearly. I am able too navigate the site with either a tap or a swipe. I fully recommend this site for all your latest news stories, especially when calling out all the crooked politicians. They know who they are after the Huff reports on them.

Your new comment page , which is not a place that offers any way to have an actual “conversation “,yet you still refer to as a “conversation “ is lousy at best . We can make a comment and “like or unlike and that’s it. We throw a pebble in the lake and then we never get to see any ripples or how far those ripples have gone. With that in mind ,who’s going to bother to even pick a stone up. Some might not even visit the lake ,which is not what your looking for. If you would only look at the, massive decrease in the number of comments per story that have continued to drop daily since Monday, perhaps you might recognize that you have created a big problem for yourselves and you have a lot of discontented readers who will no longer bother hitting that comment button. I’m one of those people who won’t bother any longer. If I could give you less than one star ,I would. Thank you

What is going on with the error message in the comment section for every story? It’s been like this for over 4 days. Wouldn’t it be nice if there could be a news article about this? Maybe from a news site app? Oh, I know.... Maybe Huffpo could report to their readers that something is wrong with the app and the site? So that we quit deleting and re-downloading, thinking there’s something wrong with our device?

Micky300's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 9/10/18 7:42 PM
HuffPost won’t let you read comments. If they want you to log in to leave comments fine but just to read them? That’s ridiculous. They are clearly trying to hide the opinions and comments of their readers because of the extreme things they say and the HuffPost is tired of having it thrown back in their face. To resort to censorship though just proves the HuffPost is nothing more than the left wing Drudge Report.
Book guy FL's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 9/10/18 6:54 PM

This is just developer speak for “we have found more ways to shove ads down your throat, make articles more difficult to read, and make it more challenging to decipher real news from sponsored news.” This is still my go-to news source, but the user experience is getting worse and worse. For instance, I like to read the comments (for fun) after I read an article. But the comment icon is not at the end, it disappears! I have to scroll all the way back to the beginning, past the 2 or 3 full-screen ads they put in there, to get that comment icon to reappear. DO BETTER HUFF-POST!

I wanted an app to get a daily dose of political news along with opinions based on reality. The FOx News app that I tried needs work as it just appears to contain a lot of verifiably false information and only the most cynical, negative of opinions. The Huff app operates much more reliably in every way.
reroojoy's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 8/23/18 3:52 PM
Been reading HuffPost since the very beginning. The days of Minneapolis Mike and Larry, Moe and Jesus to name a couple, would never happen in these days of the sensitive and easily butthurt on all sides. Even though it has turned into a daily tabloid there are a few good journalists doing some good in depth reporting. It’s no longer my first news go to. The comments are no longer enlightening and I feel dirty after indulging in the vitriol and scrolling trough troll s*#t.

Primocoach's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 8/17/18 5:52 PM
This is the first app I open to check political news every day. But it is HuffPost that make me choose it first—NOT the performance of the app. No matter the number of updates, I have given up on having a pleasant experience with this app. It is always buggy; open an article and sit and wait for it to load, then wait again to move down the page. Be carful when scrolling, because there are so many links you will find it difficult to find a place to scroll from without being taken to another page because you touched a link. Oh yeah—those respond really fast, unlike the link to the article you wanted to read. Once you have touched that link mistakenly, you are in for a real treat—waiting and waiting and waiting for it to load so you can hit the “back” button and wait some more. More often than not, the back button is so unresponsive that it takes several times to get it to work, and since it has now caught up, it takes you back to the home page of the app, where you get to start all over! I generally end up giving up at that point and going somewhere else. Too bad, but since I really like HuffPost political news, I will stupidly try again later. Or maybe I will find another app that doesn’t frustrate me nearly every time I use it.

I’ve been reading the Huffington Post on my iPad for years, but I’m seriously questioning their ethics. Today’s headline read: “12 Yr Old Black Kid has Police Called on Him for Mowing the Lawn.” With current national headlines exposing often racially biased people calling police on African-Americans in non-threatening situations, one would think from the Huffinton Post’s headline that it had happened again in Cleveland. I believe in a fair and balanced news media and am appalled at the President’s attack on our free press. But today the Huffington Post gave the mock moniker of Fake News full legitimacy. This story has absolutely nothing to do with racists intentions. The race of the young boy is inconsequential. The neighbors who are African-American themselves, called the police, because of a property line dispute, not because a black boy was mowing the lawn. I believe the HuffPost must have adopted Facebook’s business model of generating chicks through negativity. Facebook discovered that negative news garnered more clicks. There is no other reason why HuffPost would stoop to this tactic ... they must be fanning people’s fears ... exactly as the President does. In either case it is unacceptable. It is a racially misleading article. Shame on them.
Chele rn's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 6/29/18 4:30 AM
Huff Post is a liberal-leaning publication. It is my go-to when I have had enough of this administration’s lies and divisive rhetoric. Though I know that I must take in the news from other avenues, to maintain a well-balanced news diet, The Huff Post seems to me to be my shelter in the storm. With that said, I report to you that I have never bothered to comment on the news. It seems that you “used to read Huff Post frequently, and for that I am glad. However, if you (a conservative), are giving Huff Post one star because you feel your comments and arguments aren’t showing up as much as others with a more slanted view, then you don’t quite understand what they do. Their job is not to provide you with a soap box and perhaps they feel it’s more important to highlight extremist. Perhaps to hear whiney drivel that espouses apathy for the human condition and rhetoric that caused you you vote against your own self interest is so repetitive that they just can’t.... So, little snowflake, take your butthurt, emotional, whine and go post your opinion somewhere else.

After tapping an article, it takes 3-4 seconds before the app will respond to the touchscreen, which prevents you from scrolling past the lead photo and title to get to the article. It’s a first-world problem, but it makes the app feel like it’s not made well. Also, even with “Enable Recently Viewed” turned off, the app holds over 1 GB of data in its cache with no way to clear or limit the size of the cache in the app. The only solution is to delete the app and re-install it.

This was once a fairly decent source of news, but has recently become a circle jerk of millennials competing for bragging rights as the most “woke” by taking anything and everything and turning it into a controversy to be emotionally distraught over. This is the news site for the worst generation ever. This generation is exactly why we continue to lose when it comes to the important issues at hand these days. They don’t want to push change, they want to be victims. Just complain, cry, and protest for brownie points, then sit home and get high on Election Day.
galivantstom's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 12/23/18 11:35 AM
There are three things I read each and every single day. They are the Washington Post, the Detroit Free Press (state, local including sports) and the Huffington Post. I am political junkie always have been and I need my information to be current and factual. The Huffington Post and the Washington Post deliver on both counts.

MrsKN's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 12/15/18 12:00 PM
I like reading the comments by readers. Often they make the point in a more concise manner than the article. However, the location of comments at the bottom of the page, which I must scroll to the top of the articles before being able to access the icon, is foolish. I liked the position and access better the way it was before.

Jdeanjr's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 12/13/18 12:30 PM
Now I get why comments were down; the format was being changed so that you can no longer post a reply to someone else’s comment. And HP calls comments a “conversation” now? It’s not a conversation if you can’t engage others. This app keeps getting worse and worse.

I’ve had this app for years. And for the most part I enjoy it. But I really dislike them editing my selection of sections I have set. You allow the user to select the sections they want to frequent and then slip in new sections without notice. It’s a sneaky move and not welcome. Every time you do it I come closer to deleting the app.
Sbaily's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 12/12/18 11:04 AM
I’m not even a Trump supporter and I can’t take Huffington anymore. Every article is anti Trump even on their Entertainment area. I know you hate him, but what was once the best news area ever has become the Fix news on Anti Trump. There are other stories we care about that don’t involve Trump...ever consider us? Either way I’ve finally decided to delete this app because of all the hate talk. One thing I can use less of is negativity and that seems to be all HuffPost is about now.

Please , you won’t dishonor the Executive Branch . This sorry excuse for a person is not the Executive Branch . In fact, besides the immanent criminality that the Mueller Probe will reveal about this criminal , he is already an illegitimate President due to the fact that he is a named un-indicted Co-conspirator in the Michael Cohen campaign finance guilty plea! It is “The Peoples House.” Stand up ! We are all way “ Out of Box” with this Phantom of a President. There must be an exception made in this case with the standard journalistic practice of not “disrespecting the Executive Branch of our government. The organization of tile news articles is a great idea, makes it look clean and fresh. The bad: holy crap it takes forever to load and sometimes you don't even get the whole article, worse yet, it will sometimes crash and close the program. As much as the tile system looks nice, it just isn't functional, so until this is fixed this app is fairly worthless. Also, scrolling is HORRIBLE on iPhone 6s, jerks around a LOT!

The content is great. It leans left but doesn't get overly whiny or gossipy as with other outlets I used to read. The low score deals more with the app itself. A few updates ago, the app became almost completely unusable. As others have said, scrolling has become erratic and jerky. It's a frustrating experience that I hope they fix very soon.

JT92101's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 11/4/17 10:09 PM
As others have pointed out, the scrolling is erratic and often freezes. I do the workaround by instinct, now: open the app, scroll down until it stutters, force close and reopen. After that it works. Recently, though also many instances of white screen and freeze when navigating to a story. Then you have to force quit again, as I have never seen it recover from this.
JBradySD's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 11/3/17 9:49 PM
Well I guess they’re not allowing you to comment on any articles anymore, because all I see is a blank white screen when trying to view the comments. Why is this app so bad!! I used to read huff post multiple times a day but sadly I can't even use it anymore. I can't even scroll down the article list because it lags so much. I get tired and close out after trying to scroll down for a minute and only being able to scroll down three articles. Not to mention the constant crashing. After checking this app 50 times a day, I now don't even look at it once a day. I've checked back in a couple times to see if this HUGE glitch is fixed, but it just seems to be getting worse and less useable. Seems like a bad business plan.

I’ve read several articles on HuffPost... or whatever name it goes by these days. I also believe in giving the media credit where it’s due, it’s just not here. It’s sad that so many people believe this leftist garbage. The reviews say “fact based” and so on, but if CNN is the primary source of citation for writing these articles, they might as well just quote it from Facebook or some rumor they read off a random website on the internet. Okay People, if you just want some trashy gossip, this is a your app. It’ll make a great addition to your News folder icon for that purpose. Maybe you could also just gather facts by reading stuff on the walls in a rundown old restroom at some random Gas Station. That’s okay too because it’s about the same. PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER THIS APP A PRIMARY SOURCE OF INFORMATION IF YOU WANT THE FACTS!!! You live in the day and age of easily accessible information and resources that are available at a few simple thumb taps away... Dig deep and research! Don’t buy into the phony, opinionated headlines and mind-numbing crap articles this burned-out, overrated rag post app spews out.

This app used to be great, but now (alt least on my admittedly older iPhone 6s) it’s almost unusable slow. Scrolling is super chunky, making it hard to navigate, and it takes forever to load. I wish they’d go back to what they had a few versions ago, it was smooth and fast. I feel forced to find another news app.
Cheazypoof's Review of HuffpostReviewed on 11/1/17 2:47 PM
I like to scroll as I ready. They put an Ad between every paragraph. So I’m constantly accidentally clicking on ads. As always, the updates makes things worse. The app takes up 2.4 GB of space, almost twice as much a the OS. Why is this necessary? Scrolling is now practically impossible. The app constantly freezes. Whenever I click on a link in Safari, the app launches but then crashes. I can't get the stupid app NOT to launch and just let me view articles in Safari, so I'm down to a choice: delete the app and only know about articles that other sites mention, or keep the app but never click on any HuffPost links people give (assuming I can even tell) -- not the best choices if you want people to read your articles. I'm probably just going to delete the app.

Used to love this app but it’s so frustrating now, I’m ready to move on. The video at the top of most stories is at best tangentially related to the story. Why is it there? The links for many of the comedy videos don’t work. What’s up with Huffpost video stories?? You still have to read the story but on top of a slideshow with music so you have to be careful opening one of these in public. They’re often about something I’d like to read but have to skip because it will be noisy. What’s the point?? And, despite asking what topics I’m interested in, the app still fills the page with gossip stories I’d rather not see. Done with it.

Comments section is the WORST out of all the news apps I’ve used. Cannot carry on a conversation, can’t even login half the time(I login with Facebook and it still just says ‘login’ at the top), can’t follow notifications to actual replies, etc, etc. Used to work just fine. For some reason, most articles will not load and timeout, and I usually have to try 6-8 times. Again, didn’t have these problems until the last few months. I’ve even changed phones, same problem, and all of my other apps are fine. This used to be one of my go-to news apps, now it’s heading for the trash can.
