The app crashes constantly. Consistency seems to happen when I open the app and click on a story of interest. Upon shutting it down and restarting, the issue continues with that same story or another. For requiring a paid subscription, the UX is terrible and not worth renewing.

Moving to Sun-Times. Sick of auto-play ads with sound. And perhaps more telling: the fact that the people designing the app and approving it could not care less about the experience of their users. Fellow users: Don’t take my word for it - read the reviews. Sort by ‘’most recent”.

Why is this app soooo buggy?? Constantly failing to load stories. Also upsetting that I pay for unlimited digital access and still have to view ads...

I wish I could give this zero stars. It won’t let you log in unless you purchased the subscription through the Apple store. If you bought online access directly through the Trib, you will not be able to log into the app. Forget the app, just use the web browser.

Do NOT get this unless you want to be assaulted by video ads that play automatically with sound as you scroll past them. I emailed the company several time complaining about this and they denied it! LIARS!!! I’m not renewing.

Aaand this is how you lose customers Tribune. I've been a loyal Tribune subscriber for many years. But I'm pretty much done with you. I just subscribed to the Sun-Times digital. I'm still keeping my Tribune subscription for the time being, but you are about to lose me. Thank you, Chicago Tribune for waking my wife up 3 times in the last week alone. Let me spell it out for you (not that anyone out there gives a crap their customers' user experience...) NOBODY. I MEAN *NOBODY* WANTS AUTOPLAY VIDEO WITH SOUND!!! Also you are the only news app that I use (NY Times, Chicago Sun Times, USA Today) that makes me watch an ad before getting to my news. It is truly the most annoying app that I use on a daily basis. So, the solution to this is obvious... You are about to lose me and once you do, it's unlikely that I'll be back anytime soon. Not that my one absence will hurt you, but you've lost a loyal customer. And I know for a fact that I am not the only one. We get it, you need to sell ads. But I'd like to be able to read your app without waking my wife up from sleep. It's happened three times in the last week alone. And half the time, she doesn't fall back asleep. So thanks for that. I wake up at 5, and want to read the news and well, apparently, she's now up at 5 as well. So thanks guys. And let me say it again -- on the off chance that SOMEONE out there gives a crap about their users' experience: STOP AUTO PLAY WITH SOUND!!

I pay for a digital subscription and find it very annoying that I have to watch an ad to open the app. Also, when I try to open articles, it usually just spins for a while and then crashes the app. When I try to reopen the app, I have to watch the ad again. I expected something far better than this from the Tribune.

The newest version of this app keeps freezing and won’t load stories.

This is not the experience the Tribune wants electronic readers (that is the future of the Tribune and all media) to experience. Disbanding the support of the app the Tribune had built seems to be a 180 degree move backwards. Reading the newspaper, on iPad and similar devices, was easy and a similar experience to reading the physical paper. Moving from section to section was intuitive. We did have a few suggestions to improve the experience (allowing printing of an article, include the iPad clock at the top) but this change which forces the reader to leave the app is a demonstration that electronic readers are not important. A shame in this day of failing print. Perhaps someone at the decision level can get this corrected and back on track quickly!

Like a bait and switch to have a good app to download the paper to this awful app. I have never seen a company go out of its way to make things so much worse.
