but within 30 seconds i was redirected to amazon music services?! content is not easy to find and where is the live video? thanks, but no thanks - there’s already an app for that edit: since the first review never got posted; i got the live stream but with some buffering issue. my add blocker may introduce the buffer suffer but no more complete redirects so far...

Please fix the crashing problem...still...even after last update. Then I can change my review back to 5 stars. Thanks!

This was my go-to daily news app. Unless the format changes back to a user friendly format, I'll be searching for a new app to get my news. 9/5 ugh... again!! I tried this app again only to open it and have it shut down just as quick. After hard rebooting my phone (it’s been acting up) and that not helping, I saw there was an update. Bingo... now this app will be deleted instead of filed in my rarely used section. Several years ago, I loved it. Still hasn’t come back around .

Another update and again I can't open. Instead of fixing bugs, you create them. Update 1/25-your update is still bad. Can't open app. Just awful. 5/18/18-you guys just can get these updates straight. Again, can't open app. Doesn't anyone test these updates? 5/27/18. A week later and still can't get into app. Deleted it and brought it back 3 times. Same outcome. Have deleted permanently as no one that handles the app seems to care. A shame. Used to be a good news outlet. 9/4/18. Gosh, I feel like a broken record. App closed down immediately after trying to open. Went in to see if it had been updated and sure enough, another update. Why can't u guys get this straight? Great news outlet but such bad updates.

After the last update, the application will not initialize properly. I restarted my phone to rule that out as a contributing factor. It didn’t help. Now it’s just an icon taking up space on my screen.

Great news on version 5.30: It crashes! Using iPhone 7 Plus and latest iOS 11.4.1.

This app looks more like a blog than professionally produced news. It's just one long list of articles in haphazard order. No sections, no organization, no way to filter what you're not interested in or focus on what you are. The "interests" offered aren't general sections, they're hyper-specific trending topics for youtube kids.

This app has the greatest information the world has to offer, including the ability to locate real-time news as it is happening. I personally enjoy the saved items feature as it helps me re-read articles I have saved. Thanks ABC!

I really appreciate the live coverage (especially minus the chatter of commentators). The comment thread allowed people to comment as they got news from various stations around the world. I didn’t care for the reporter going into a cave to show us what it was like (similar to reporters standing in the middle of a hurricane or icy bridge to show the conditions)! This is unnecessary and could have potentially diverted rescuers from their mission if something unexpected had happened to him. I much preferred to wait for the cameras from the head cams of the Navy Seals. News coverage has been sparse and spotty on the MSM channels. Your camera coverage has been outstanding and I appreciate seeing events unfolding on the scene rather than listening to the regular “star” reporters telling us about it as they sit around a table giving us canned news and constant coverage of 45 wrecking our nation.

I usually use Apple’s News app and the AP app the most, but this ABC app is good too. Being able to listen to the ABC audio news updates is a great benefit.

We all love GMA!! We all love The Evening News with David Muir! We trust him, seriously. The staff always brings current, well informed news and in-depth information that we need to know. I am obsessed with George S. I always want to hear George’s opinion. It counts and wish we could hear more and see more of him during the day. I adore Ginger Zee she is on top of the weather and is a pleasure having her as our top national weather source. Of course we love our KSAT too! We have THE BEST local weather and news team. The team at KSAT is a treat and we feel honoured to have them. It’s like they are family. Thank you ABC for giving us the BEST!

This app worked one day and now it doesn’t even open I just deleted it off my phone because it went from being a five star app to not even working and the worst thing is I can’t even open the abc website on my phone without being brought to the App Store. I don’t know how an app can go from being one of the best news apps to not even being functional but they did it and they did that excellent precision. I am really disappointed in this app.

Weather alerts are very helpful. As I’m retired, I schedule whatever events I can when there are no storms in the area as my Sweet Pea is afraid of storms. The traffic reports are helpful, especially the options for alternative routes. I like the news alerts also. It’s great to be informed of the days happenings.

ABC news is OUTSTANDING, however this app leaves much to be desired. It looks like an app in development that is NOT ready for release. Reverting back to the previous version would be the best course of action while this one is being fixed.

I tend to hold my iPad with my left hand in landscape mode and I don’t always want to scroll with my right hand in the middle of the display... most of the time I want to use my left thumb to scroll through an article that I’m reading. This is impossible with this new app. The navigation area of an article has such large left and right margins that it makes it impossible to navigate with my left thumb while holding my iPad... otherwise, I like the search and targeting News features. I find those very useful. If you could fix the navigation issue, I’d give more stars. I see where people have complained about ads... those are part of the experience in any free content... so they are to be expected. It would be nice to allow us to skip an Ad after so many seconds. The new news app is kludgy to use. No style and I have lost interest in what was the best news reporting. I still revisit the old version hoping to see that it has been fixed...unfortunately, it still does not show a video and the blank video holders just keep trying to connect. Also, the new app appears to have been assembled by website builders from days gone by. Are used to brag about ABC News. It is something I cannot do any longer

I wish your news clips could play as smoothly as your f----ing adds. I'll choose a news clip to watch and a s***** add for product that I don't need or care about plays then the news clip doesn't play right, close news clip reopen and forced to watch another BS add for another product I don't need or care about. Also app will start playing news clips when I didn't even choose one. Usually from a completely different news story.

New app is to much like the mobile phone original. Need the feel of a desktop mode or newspaper.

When I get an alert from a news app, CNN, BBC, ABCNY, ABCLA, ABCSF, I click on the alert and it goes to the story. When I click on ABCNEWS, I get the home page, search for half an hour an MIGHT find the story.

Not at all as user friendly. Advertisements overwhelm the stories. Ugh!

ABC was my “go to” app for news. Now it is nothing more than a mess with recent changes. Very difficult to navigate with ease. Confusing. I don’t care much for video and simply use news apps to read the news. Hate it. If things don’t change the app will end up in the delete pile. It’s such a mess it’s difficult to describe.

I just received a PUSH NOTIFICATION that states “Beyoncé and Jay-Z surprised fans by dropping a new album, but there’s one thing no one is talking about...” I get enough ridiculous click bait on social media. I have had the abc news app on my phone for years, but this is absolutely absurd that you would actually send this garbage as a push notification to my phone. THIS IS NOT HOT BREAKING NEWS!!! What are you, the boy who cried wolf? *Uninstall*

The prior version was one of my favorite news apps. As other reviewers have noted, it is now full of ads, and they keep popping the screen up and down so that you can’t easily scroll through articles. The app is now video based instead of text based. I’m about ready to delete it. Too bad what was a good app has been wrecked.

I’ve always relied on ABC news first and foremost for current events and have read it daily for many years. But, after downloading the revamped app, I see it’s a discombobulated mess. I can’t scroll down to read a complete story. When I try, the next story is on my screen as if I swiped left. In addition, since stories often don’t properly load, I’m left with half a story while the rest of my screen is left blank. Disappointing but I’ll move on to the next news source.

Since your most recent update, only the lead story’s video plays, no matter what video link or title I select. I choose Meagan Markel and it plays GMA telling of North Korea releasing hostages. Please fix, else your app is useless. A one trick story.

Newer does not equal better. Your latest version is just a copy of your abcnews.com website. Have your app programmers gotten lazy? I like to read news, not have to look thru videos, swiping all around to find out what is happening. I will be removing the app.

“A network error has occurred” is all I see. No matter if I open from a feed, link or directly launch the app. Changing sections I just get blank pages. The titles behind the alert modal are days-old news. Fix it already.

As of 5/17/18, this app no longer works on my IPhone 6! Luckily, CBS works fine!

I don’t understand how this app is so bloated to need almost 400MB. That is more than all the other news apps combined I have on my iPhone. This app is staying off my phone because of no space. Your news is not worth it.

I noticed that my iPhone X seemed unusually warm and the battery seemed to be draining much faster. I looked at battery usage. ABC News was shown as 1 minute onscreen and 2.1 hrs (!) background. I forced quit the app. There is an obvious bug. ABC News should not continue to run that long after the app has been quit. Please fix.

This app was a huge drain in my battery. Using 75% within 24 hours when I wasn’t even using the app. Deleted the app and now my battery performs so much better!

First of all-you should’ve sent us (iPad Pro users) a push message for an update app. The previous app started getting sluggish & slow for things to open up for months. I just quit using the app. I finally deleted the app and went to the App Store and downloaded the new one. I don’t like the optics and don’t like the layout of the NEW app. The old one was much better. It functioned & worked better. You could surf better. The optics, the format, was better then this NEW app. Plus there are several things missing on this New app that are not on the old one. I’ll probably just use it less. Depend on it less. I have always liked and used this app as a news source because I enjoy reading the news. However, now it is all videos and I preferred the app when I could skip all the videos and go to just the articles.

If you want to listen to a news coverage that distorted the news to get better ratings then look no further.

This app is OK but could have so much more potential if it didn’t crash all the time and give me glitch messages about how the network was not working even though I have strong Wi-Fi and cellular. I like that I can at least get push notifications about stories and certain topics I care about, as well as breaking news. Please fix the homepage so I can read stories that are posted because every time I try to click on one it doesn’t open and gives me error message.

With the requirement to sign up for “The Note” there’s no way to use the app without clicking on “sign up”. Too bad. Used to enjoy the app.

“An unknown network error has occurred” every time I start the app. After releasing it nothing happens. Refreshing, closing entirely, reopening or launching to the app from the App Store link or from a news feed alert - same results. No new content. Sometime the content arrives hours or days later. Using iPhone 7 iOS 11.2 it has been weeks. You would think ABC has the resources to fix this

ABC is to news as apple pie is to America. You love them both.

This app doesn’t allow you to navigate to what you want! I want to read a news story, NOT watch a news story clip that is IMMEDIATELY followed by a commercial. The only solution is close the app as soon as the commercial begins and go to CNN, AP or another app to get the desired story information.

While this is my primary news source, some of the pages are not updated very frequently. One of the headlines is still about Frank Sessions and Al Franken from over two years ago. Much of the content is not updated for months.

Today is 12/1; however, the app is providing yesterday’s news. This is not only frustrating but also unacceptable!

I really enjoy watching ABC news on my phone, but recently it is very slow I think because of watch ads and other ads, so I am now looking for other sources for my news.

The app is terrible...it jumps around when you move it down...the other major networks’ apps are far better and more user friendly. The 2-star rating was really generous as far as I am concerned...it’s really a shame that a major network has poor technology with their app...the BBC News and other apps are far superior and worldly...

Recent versions of the app have been very frustrating as scrolling through an article is not smooth at all. There are so many objects on the page between ads, photos, and overly complex layering effects that you don’t get a very responsive scroll-through, especially the further down the page you are.

This app is a piece of c*** brand new phone brand new watch doesn’t work over Wi-Fi can’t use the watch please fix

ABC News has always been the best at actually reporting the news instead of offering opinions like other News Agency however the app is terrible.

I find your App for my iPad Pro to be a -5! It takes over 5 minutes for your app to load stories I feel a VERY STRONG DESIRE to delete this app and get my news from other sources. This prob.. issue does NOT occur with my iPhone.

Cannot connect to the Apple Watch Series 4 Play is fine on the phone deleted app re-download it it same problem.

One of the latest updates prevents the ABC News app for iPhone and iPad from working with HughesNet satellite internet. I suspect the latest app doesn’t handle the 500ms response time inherent to satellite internet.

I don’t know why but when I open an article the app gets really laggy for me

I originally thought the forced volume on the ads was a mistake, and waited for an update. But even with updates this issue isn’t being addressed. It is frustrating to be in a quiet room and then having a Lowe’s ad blare out. I’ve become quick at closing out the app.

Still can't get ABC News! The app won't open!

This app has evolved: it seems that the main focus of the developers is not upon conveying the most important news but upon delivering the most video ads.

For a network touting Made in America you sure wouldn’t know a single job was created the last year or that unemployment was at all time lows. Network is currently showing an almost nonstop Michelle-O-Thon but will probably resume their normal NPC talking points soon.

It used to crash all the time then after the latest update it often opens to a blank screen and I can’t get back to the intended story.

Going through withdrawal pain. App update kills app on iPhone 8! UPDATE to update: Crises averted with correcting update. Now functioning normally. Hoping better testing regimen will prevent future aggravations, however temporary!

The new app has been very frustrating. It’s hard to hold in one hand and navigate with the left thumb because it doesn’t always respond as expected. It will swipe to a next article or do something that doesn’t feel like it matches the input. But beyond that, one of the most frustrating things is to get a new notification about a news story, follow to the app from the notification, only to arrive at a blank white screen with nothing but the back arrow navigation. I wait for something to load, and it doesn’t. I use the back button since it’s the only option, and the page is nothing more than a blank white page with a forward navigation button. I ultimately have to quit the app, relaunch it, and just try to find the article manually. Two thumbs down for the “improvements” of the new app. Using iOS iPhone X.

While in the world would I want the ads to be playing the videos while my phone was on silence. It happens every time when I just wanted to read. Scared to use in vibrate mode.

The current format of the ABC news app makes it almost impossible to navigate through without frustration. Quite an annoying piece of garbage although I prefer reading this news rather than some of the others available.

This has always been my fav. News app, but now I’m looking for a different one. Even if my phones on SILENT the ads still play at full volume and won’t be silenced no matter how many times you hit the speaker icon. I understand the need for advertising but I can’t have my phone bursting out in noise very time I try to read an article. That on top of having to watch a video commercial before EVERY news video and sometimes they’re a full minute long, is so frustrating. Previously, I knew I could expect a video commercial before every other video, which I was willing to do because they were at max 30 secs long. But now more often than not, I end up not even getting to the news video because of the commercials or because as I scroll down the article it flips me back to the headlines at which point I’d have to rewatch the commercial in order to view the news video. So frustrated and so disappointed. Bummed to have to find a new news source.

I used to like the ABC news app but no more. It's way too video heavy and the content is not as good as it once was. Something has changed at ABC and not for the good. It seems like the news is all left leaning now and I like my news neutral, that's all, no ones opinion unless it's on an opinion page.

Loads text headlines only, videos won’t load

I used to love the ABC news app but now not a fan of it.. I hate that every time I hit on a story there’s an AD that pops up. What’s worse, I have to scroll down and I can’t shut the volume off .

Can you please fix the ‘listen’ mode in the app?? It is STUCK in “loading” & then never plays - seems to have happened after last update- I love my ‘listen’ mode while getting ready for work - please fix please!!

Will flash news update banners at top of my iPad screen but when touched to read the story it opens a completely different page where the news videos constantly attempt to load. No update available. Just a frustrating news app. I’ll get my news elsewhere

Used to love the app but latest update broke the audio news streaming feature. Please fix.

NewRadio does not work in this version

Went to your site to check out the World Series result and the Indonesian plane crash, somehow clicked on a Verizon ad and couldn't find a way out. Finally deleted the app, which seems to be going downhill with every update. Trying another network's app.

Do not download this app. The app was not even in use and it used more than 5gb of my data. It also drained the battery of my phone very quickly. Very disappointed and a costly app.

Ios12 has an option that notifications can only be read after Face ID unlocks device. ABC app fails to do this. Notifications can be read w/o unlocking with Face ID

Probably the biggest issue is not being able to discern what is an article and what is an ad in the iPhone app. The iPad app's UI is still easy to use. Now the performance is really slow.

The new video ads that are showing are causing so much drag when scrolling that it’s making the app unusable. Fix this please!

Loved this app until recently. When I go to try to open the app, it tells me an unknown error has occurred with a white screen. Frustrating when I receive a notification on a developing story and I’m not able to access it unless I go to a browser.

Great if you want to listen to the same 15 sec “google pixel” ad (on your iPhone) 20 times in the short amount of time you get to watch the news . ABC either needs an update to this app or I need to find a new news app.

Why do your pictures and video embedded with your content never match the headlines. I love ABC news, but this app is horrible.

So frustrated w the app. The new app has way too much white space (do you actually use a UX designer??b). Too much scrolling to see the articles I want to read. Like the old app much better from this perspective. Am frustrated you have removed the Locals news section, and I have to go to another app for that. I can't believe you still have an "Investigative" section, when the articles there are 11 months old. That's just embarrassing as a news app!! Will get my news elsewhere...

Way too many commercials.

I enjoy this app but I’m at the point where I’m going to delete it. The same BMO Harris commercial plays on every video. I know there has to be commercial, but come on the same one over and over and it’s a very annoying and s***** commercial. Unreal.

Listening to the news is no longer an option because the listen to the news option doesn’t work anymore as it won’t load. The search option is no longer working and forced to watch so many ads that it makes other news videos stall. What a shame I used to love this app now it still doesn’t refresh old news stories, and things aren’t fixed.

The 2-star rating was really generous as far as I am concerned...it’s really a shame that a major network has poor technology with their app...the BBC News and other apps are far superior and worldly...I would suggest deleting this horrible app and rely on much better sources, such as BBCNBC, CBS, CNN, etc... they refuse to fix this app and it is a shame that as big a network as ABC is that they do not appear to care...
