I Fly By GPS's Review of WingxReviewed on 9/6/18 2:10 AM
Just ok, used to be awesome. Customer service has taken a turn for the worse and if you e-mail or call you will get voicemail and they will cal you back in 3-7 days. They used to have the best customer service, now if you have a problem you will wait and eventually decide that maybe one of the competing apps is a better match. I made the switch to a different app but will keep this app installed to see if they bring it around in the future.
Sr Maestro's Review of WingxReviewed on 9/4/18 4:07 PM
I have use this app since its inception, historically it has been great. Most recently it has started having problems and tech support does not return my phone calls. The newest batch of problems came when their weather source for the textual weather data changed something so weather no longer updated in WingX. That issue has halfway resolved, now it updates but the TAF displays messed up data that is somewhat readable?!? At the same time that problem popped up their ability to display Nexrad moving map data from ADS-B quit working too. So now you can get ADS-B text based weather updates but can’t see the Nexrad on the moving map. Using the competitors app with the same ADS-B receiver and the Nexrad displays perfectly. Hoping for a quick fix or I will have to permanently switch over to the competition so I can get the Nexrad info!!! I will update this if/when it is fixed.
RNG Flyer's Review of WingxReviewed on 9/14/18 3:53 AM
Finally gave up after using Wingx for years. I hope they are making money on their military contracts because Foreflight and Garmin Pilot have surpassed them by a fairly wide margin for GA features. I would have switched sooner but switching also means buying new portable AHRS unit.
Ghjhjhhg's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
ADS-B radar has zero transparency. If there is rain out there, the maps will be useless. It used to be the best app out there. Bummer.
mark0921's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
WingX used to load and react to user input much faster than ForeFlight. This new release has made the maps so slow and sluggish, almost unusable. Even foreflight is faster than that!
**HeRo**'s Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
This app is great, it has transformed my piloting experience. Navigation is a cinch, all info at your fingertips, or mapped. Plays nice with my homemade raspi Stratux, including ADSB and AHRS/synthetic vision. Highly recommended, find a place for your iPad mini on your panel and enjoy.

I’ve used this, foreflight, and NGA Aero and honestly prefer this app.

Downloaded the update today, and am still waiting for the TERPS alternate mins and takeoff mins to become scrollable documents. Anyone else like to see this? I’ve been asking for 3+ years.
Rightrudder's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
Houston, I think we have a problem… Just loaded the new update, and can’t get a chart background on the map. Just a lot of VFRindications in green ovals, on a gray background. My bad??

I have been using WingX since it was on the Compaq iPaq and I absolutely love it. The wealth of features and functionality is outstanding and the support and improvements in the software let me know Hilton Software is committed to this app and the pillows that use it. I highly recommend it.
SkyhawkAV8or's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
I have used WingX for several years now but the latest revision is driving me to switch to ForeFlight. The split screen is not supported on my older iPad and with the airport map open in the route my system crashes. Support is slow and lacking.
jugsf16's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
Over the past couple of months I have been trying to resolve a high resolution map loading issue. Initially, they had me delete and reload database but steps did not resolve issue. I sent them screen shots and follow on information. Last I heard was they had submitted defect to tech team and have not responded to further inquiries on status of defect. Very frustrating and poor customer service to not even respond.
Aveinc123's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
Some time in late 2018 wingx pro stopped downloading the prog charts. After repeated calls and messages, I was told there was a bug that would be fixed right after the new year. It is still not fixed and no communications from Hilton. I just renewed db subscriptions so l'll stick a little longer, but I'm not sure they are continuing to maintain the software. I hope I'm wrong as I was an original user when it first came out. I'll look for them at OSH and see what they say.
Gazman36's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
All the hype of a new release was extremely disappointing. No new look , no new features to keep up with the competition (Foreflight ). A stagnant company that seems to have no interest in improving their app. I’ve been a long time user of WingX for the about 5 years , which I used with my DUAL XPGPS 170, and then recently purchased a Stratus 3 for the AHRS as a back up for my Cherokee. That’s about the only thing new with the new release as it now works with the Stratus AHRS (kinda) The apereo Stratus Horizon app is still a better , more consistent app for the AHRS. So , all in all , not very impressive on Hilton’s so called new release. I think I will be switching to Foreflight.
VIC-82's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
Wing X is falling way behind the competition at at fast pace. I kept the app installed in hopes of an update, but I finally gave up! FlyQ, Aerovie, are way ahead and they keep coming up with updates, I made the switch, and I don’t think I’m coming back on less Wing X comes back.
Flyingdancer99's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM

Long time user. Since the last update I have lost traffic. I contacted customer service and they admitted this is a knowledge issue. No ETA on fix. This was over a month ago. Wing X used to be the best. No longer is.

Using the latest pro version on iPad mini 3 w/128 gig. iPad runs slow and hot with WingX . Stratux W/ AHRS synthetic vision just does not work. Jumps all over the place. Support at WINGX said something about “older low memory iPads being challenging”. Wow. How much hardware does it need? I got it free as a Veteran, but it's tough to justify the hassle. I certainly wouldn’t pay for this. Prolly go back to FF.
PokRPL8r's Review of WingxReviewed on 8/28/19 1:53 PM
Super app for aviation packed full of features, I especially like the ADS-B weather and graphics, makes long cross country flights much safer with the wealth of real time information available.
temnoff's Review of WingxReviewed on 7/24/18 3:36 PM
Too much silliness in this app. Very cumbersome to use in flight. no easy to use magenta line manipulation while route planning or diversions for that matter. No FARS But you can pretend you are a stealth fighter...wow! Stick with Garmin or Foreflight. GPS ALWAYS FAILS AND NOT SAFE!!!
Wasord's Review of WingxReviewed on 6/22/18 10:09 PM
Fantastic. Provides more flight planning and flight enroute info than I will ever be able to use or need. There are other very good programs of this type out there. How, with this you’ll never need another. And their customer support if you have questions is excellent. I’m using it with Stratux ADSB In now. Interface was perfect.
JDC517's Review of WingxReviewed on 6/13/18 2:56 PM
It’s been several years since I’ve flown and used to do all my flight planning and navigation the old school way, which is fine, but with this app, what used to take me a few hours to do... I can now do in about one! And using this app on my iPad makes it even easier! I can flight plan on my iPad and set it up with the synthetic vision, and then use my iPhone for the moving map with terrain overlay. Great app!
Hanson24's Review of WingxReviewed on 5/10/18 3:23 PM
I am a Certified Flight Instructor and teach national courses on Mountain Flying. I think this app has many advantages over the competition but a dangerous and persistent flaw persists. When the moving map screen is touched either by intent OR involuntarily, the terrain layer freezes and no longer indicates terrain proximity. For flat land pilots or flight simulator pilots this may be acceptable. If you are a serious pilot, this App should NEVER be used for real world flight. There are MUCH safer alternatives. (I have spoken to company representatives on FIVE occasions over the past 3 years continuously hoping for a fix) Two weeks ago I left a detailed message with an employee who said the developer would contact me. . . . Solomonwannabe's Review of WingxReviewed on 4/6/18 6:37 PM
Truly an egg outstanding electronic flight bag product! I am an instrument instructor for both ground school and flight coursework. Privately, as well as at a local organization. I am recommending this to everyone. Multiple overlays, intelligent – if sometimes counterintuitive – user interface, exceptional graphics. This makes flying easier and safer. I trust the data I am being shown. That should say all of it. One small additional item that I have not found in the program yet, the MOS. Model output statistics from the National Weather Service, that is the only thing I am still looking for here.

Arrow-pilot500's Review of WingxReviewed on 2/4/18 3:36 AM
I’ve used this for three years and found it to be adequate. The real annoyance was all the finger tapping to go through various menus. But, what really was a turn-off was the unanswered questions I had. They never returned answers to my questions. I changed to ForeFlight and now understand why it’s the most popular EFB. And they always answer questions promptly.

Bobelod322's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
Wing X has a really fantastic interface: easy to learn, easy to remember yet powerful... Their software team have my total admiration. I tried Foreflight and I had to fight and learn the interface. I am not sure about Garmin Pilot; but after decades of learning different Garmin products I am a little tired. Editing a flight plan in Wing X is a pleasure; no so in Garmin G1000 flagship. Wing X is designed so that you do not need to leave the map, is not "modal", few commands are needed to get the info you need. IFR is also really nice with the geo located plates, taxi maps... OK, one minor criticism: Pattern altitude is kind of hard to find and scroll to at a rather busy time.
minoxer's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
WingX just keeps getting better and better. Now with two 'moving maps' what more could you ask? I have been impressed with its stability and usability in flight. While it has everything that the professional airman could ask of it, it is also extremely easy to use. Its pre-flight planning functions are spectacular and the way it integrates DUATS briefings is terrific. If you are looking for the ONE aviation app for your iPad/iPhone, this is it!!!
IFR Pilot2's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
I have been using WXP for several years to support me flying both VFR and hard IFR and I am very happy with it. Hilton SW is very supporting when needed and they do take pilot's suggestions serious. Overall a great product!
MS11111's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
Update: since they recently added regular notams, this app is perfectly usable both for planning and in the air. As far as SV, there are no mountains around here, but I thought the SV would help in finding an airport or runway if the windshield became frosted over or covered in oil. I figured since I had the ipad anyway, the $100 was cheap if I needed it. I also bought the $795 Levil mini G AHRS figuring it would be a backup to the attitude indicator and turn coordinator if both went out in IMC (works OK with an app called ihud). What they offer is nothing near synthetic vision that any of us have seen - albeit anything else is a whole lot more money. I was hoping to get something close to the SV in the Garmin 796. Basically, if you are near the ground the ground will turn an orangish brown or red, depending on how low you are. If there are lighted towers, most seem to appear as little black sticks on the green background. Unlighted towers don't seem to appear. Some sticks were there where there were no towers that I could see. Flying directly at or next to a 2000 foot tower at 1500 feet just showed me a black line on a green background, not something that was about to k*** me. Runways also look like little black sticks. There is no way to see the difference, except a runway may not be standing straight up.. It didn't have all the runways for the airports I was looking at in the air (Midway showed 2 runways, and there are MANY runways there), and there is no way I could spot a runway and line up with it. Even on final there was no way to see the runway in-front of me, which looked like a black stick for a tower. More useful for avoiding mountains? If you want to blow $100 to see if it will help you from hitting them, I'd suggest NOT buying the $795 AHRS unit. I don't think it's useful with WINGX. I sold the one I bought. The rest of the program works OK. Clunkier to use than foreflight, and slower to update the screen, but OK. The weather in WingX isn't as slick as foreflight. The Baron radar ain't very good. Support is pretty bad to non-existent. They never answered my email with questions about the SV. I didn't get a phone call until maybe 5 days later, after I left a voicemail. The support guy said they were all out of town. I couldn't download updates one day and left a message (they all timed out), and when they called back a day later they said they were upgrading their servers. All in all they don't seem to think much of their customers. I'll probably continue to subscribe to the basic version for $75 in the future as a backup for foreflight. And since I got burned on their "SV" I doubt I'll be tempted to try anything else from them that they come out with in the future. The support guy that did call me back told me that their SV wasn't for runways. I didn't see anything saying that on their website, and I saw press releases specifically saying it showed runways. The $100 SV was just throwing $100 in the garbage. Live and learn.

jrs005's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
For two years I've said WingX is the Best navigation app available for the iPad. However Garmin appears to have upped the standard as far as EFB 3D synthetic vision is concerned. Garmin just released what looks like a better 3D synthetic vision product. This is an area that I believe WingX should update and upgrade sooner than later. But in fairness, I guess we are talking Garmin here (king of the GPS and provider of a huge array of avionics products). I don't know if any current EFB can compete with Garmin in this area. Hopefully I'm wrong and WingX will respond with, if not a better product, a 3D synthetic vision upgrade that is equivalent.
wb7vtv's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
I have been using WingX for two years and find it to be excellent when it works. Unfortunately, it suffers (as does Foreflight) from the Apple bluetooth bug which causes it to occasionally lose connection with my Dual external gps, rendering the moving map useless. On a recent ifr flight, 30 minutes before landing, I got the 10% battery life warning, shut down the iPad until just before landing, and turned it back on only to find that it was unable to connect to the gps (which was working fine with lots of satellites and 66% battery left). I used my iPhone (held by my wife) for the remainder of the flight. In my opinion, they made a very bad programming decision to only invoke the "Auto APD" (automatically display the apt diagram when landing) with a chart in place. On another ifr flight in vfr conditions, I landed at an apt with a very confusing set of taxiways and almost had a runway incursion due to the apt diagram not displaying. I can't imagine a situation where one wouldn't want to see the apt diagram after landing. (At least, there should be an option to always show the airport diagram). This app suffers from very marginal support -- I have made numerous phone calls and sent many emails without any response from the company. On my one recent successful interaction with them, they said that my email was mistakenly put into the trash (as was my recent phone call, apparently). It would also be nice if they had a more complete user manual (Foreflight shines in both of there areas). For these reasons, together with the extreme difficulty in using the iPad display in bright sunlight, I have chosen to return to my former policy over the last 30 years and use paper charts.

Just wanted you to know that your routing improvement is outstanding! Being able to include your entire route, including DPs, STARs, and IAPs, seamlessly and easily into the flight plan, is one of the best features WingX Pro has to offer. The folks at Hilton Software are clearly pilots with an excellent understanding of the needs of the IFR community, and were able to incorporate these needs using a very user-friendly interface. A big THANK YOU to your company.

Wing x 7.0 just became the almost complete aviation weather/navigation product available. By adding the Internet based baron services weather to the map page for preflight information makes this a valuable addition. Myself and other users have ask for this and Dr. Hilton and the wingx people have listened and answered. One thing about the wing x developers they do respond and deliver. 2 of my other apps i have used and tested in this category will expire in the near future and I plan on making wing x 7 my final choice for the future.

Bill-182's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
I researched all the major iPad apps available before deciding on WingX Pro. It has depth, breadth and an elegant interface. An important part of the decision was the system's ability to expand and access ADS-B radar info on traffic, etc., so I spent the extra bucks and got the iLevil puck. After flying with everything for just three weeks, I can say with certainty that I made the right choice. Everything works and it is the best situational awareness I've ever enjoyed in many years of flying. One of my non-pilot passengers, after I explained everything on the screen to him, said simply, "I can't imagine flying without this." After my last thousand mile cross-country, I can't either. It is a powerful system developed by people who know how to do the right thing, the right way. To Hilton and company I gratefully say, "Many thanks for the hard work that went into making flying about as easy and enjoyable as it can ever be."
Ngrant's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
Foreflight has updated numerous times, sent out emails and has generally been visible. Hilton has gone silent with no updates since Oct. 2013. In this business that is a long time. I'm not getting a good feeling about this....
Original Kayak Jack's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
I've flown with WingX for two years now, and renewed with a 3 year subscription. This company cares about getting it right, and about what is useful for pilots. I preplan routes and save them for the right time to cruise that territory. I added a "Home" waypoint near my home field to facilitate round robin routes. "Home" is then the last waypoint to which I return, and then enter the traffic pattern. Runway extensions are a real help when going into a strange field. Route information aids setting radio frequencies ahead of time. The 4nm borders around the line of flight are helpful in setting up for the downwind leg. All in all, I wouldn't want to return to paper charts. Thanks, Hilton. Jack Voss Pilot of the Ruptured Duck
TURBOJERRY's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
This last update put you way out front of everybody. I have used your program from the start. Would recommend for pilots who don't fly often to do two fifteen minute sessions at home planning a flight and going through the procedures they would do in the air. If not they can't take advantage of all the information your app has to offer and they become overwhelmed .Just an average general aviation pilot. It beats Foreflight

Simplepilot's Review of WingxReviewed on 12/16/18 1:03 PM
I am a veteran commercial pilot, 30 yrs flying, all kinds of airplanes. This app does everything a flying app should do. Split screen mode is fantastic, and unique. Was one of the first to allow ADS-B integration. Annual cost is very reasonable for full IFR coverage. I tried the others, Fore flight, Garmin and Jepp - but this one was and is the best. Don't leave the ground without it...

Easier to use the garmin or foreflight. But sadly unstable on iOS 7. Keeps dropping out to ipad home screen, especially when flipping between screens such as charts, AFD etc. Though easy to get back in. Had to keep powering off iPad. Not something you want to be doing in flight.

I recently had to buy a new Skyradar D2 unit because the old D unit's GPS failed. All the ADS-B functions still work on the old. I use WingXPro with the SkyRadar, and the A/C is 2020 compliant ADS-B out. All things were good until the D unit's GPS failed. I got all the traffic possible and all the NEXRAD etc. With the D2, I get no 978 traffic. Alexey, the developer of SkyRadar, says WingxPro needs to do an update. They should be decoding messages 30 and 31 for the traffic. Instead, they are using an outdated message that he removed some time after I bought my original D unit. I can run the two units side by side and alternately connect old or new to WingxPro. The old shows traffic, the new does not. Both old and new show traffic on the SkyRadar ipad app, but I would rather use WingxPro.
Pilot011's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
Maps will not pan smoothly. Reposition, zoom or pan a map and must wait for the map to redraw. Continuous screen flicker as maps redraw almost makes the app unusable. Same happens with any map layer selected. Using other apps until this gets fixed. Use with caution!
ChloeMS's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I take time to compare things that I purchase, especially if the are of substantial or ongoing cost, such as an EFB is. I want to select WingX Pro because of the totality of features but there are two glaring issues: 1.) No electronic users guide. Consider, every instrument in the cockpit has a guide for its use that can be found in the POH or AFM. You can store both of them on your EFB and that becomes very useful if you have to reference it in flight. If you use an EFB and need to reference the users guide in flight for some frequently unused feature or perhaps because you do not fly often enough to remember the intricacies of the EFB, it is better to have a users guide to reference in flight. When newer versions of the EFB are released, the learning curve goes back up again. Being able to check your EFB Users Guide while flying and study it when not flying is the best way become proficient in the EFB. Access to the Internet, watching videos to find what you are looking for and trying to determine which video to watch are not things to be doing, single pilot, while flying. 2.) When WingX Pro displays the sectional, everything is fine while flying due north or if you are using the North up orientation but as soon as you use track or north up and the map rotates from true north, confusion ensues. If you fly with a glass cockpit, with a MFD, this might not be a problem but if you fly with a six-pack, or you use your EFB as a way to confirm what is on your MFD, the time wasted looking down, mentally orienting the sectional (physically turning the EFB) so that you can read information on the WingX Pro sectional, you might find yourself spending an inordinate amount of time looking down, not out. In a pattern or busy terminal area, this is dangerous. I believe the FAA should mandate, similar to POH and AFM requirements, all portable avionics in the cockpit have either a paper manual or an electronic manual in textual/pictorial form and absolutely NO videos, like most other EFB programs. I am NOT saying the instructional videos are not useful. In fact, they are very much so. But I do not want to have to take the time to watch a video when I can thumb through an active PDF to find relevant information. My 3 star rating reflects the importance I place on the two issues. If they were satisfactorily addressed, I would be giving 5 stars.

I just returned home from a Florida - Santa Fe - Florida trip. I have WingX Pro7 on my iPad and my iPhone 6+. Your product performed flawlessly! I wouldn’t go anywhere now without it. It makes navigating so easy that I fear that my VOR, NDB, and DR skills will atrophy! And having weather displayed (via Clarity) was invaluable, as there has been a lot of weather in the southern US the past two weeks. Thanks for a great product from a happy customer.
Password Issue's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
This is a good app. I would like to see that ability to navigate by lat/long coordinates. Also in Hiltons tutorial he shows flying at an altitude of 3000 and flying under a class B shelf, but the lower right display indicates he is in Class B airspace. Not correct. Also the stacked airspace notifications are incorrect. Newer versions may have fixed this and if so, I am sorry for the 3 star. Good features and good app but wrong info is just bad news in our business.
FlyinRyin's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I have only used FltPlnGo and this app, and there are many features of this app I prefer. I will use this for in cockpit backup over FltPlnGo, but will use the other for flight planning purposes. The only useage issue I am having right now is finding how to turn on the breadcrumb trails. Is this even an option?
Israel3's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM

Scr12's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
Used them all but keep coming back to WingX - even better now with the Replay feature. There were first SV, split screen, ZAON and ADSB traffic support, geo ref taxi diagrams as part of the base price, none of this basis versus pro nonsense, just great features for one low price. 100% recommend this - dont drink the kool-aid the others try and make you drink !! Update 8/4/16 - WingX supports a LOT of ADB-S in solutions, including the home built Stratux. Why pay more for the same features on other apps when ALL FEATURES are included in the one price
chipchap42's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I've been using the app for 6 months now and love it and certainly wouldn't be without it. But it would be nice if the constant improvements didn't sometimes k*** functionality. Recently I had a problem (now fixed) where my own location wouldn't appear - very disconcerting. And now in the latest version, it's no longer calculating fuel and time usage, even with the parameters entered. Update - I just worked out the issue. The new version, 8.6.9 calculates times based on altitude. If the altitude you enter doesn't make sense (I had 1,000 feet when the elevation was higher), it won't calculate it. Remove the altitude, as for the no wind case, and it works fine.

As a CFI and professional instructor who has recently taken advantage of your free offer, I want to say thank you! Since downloading your app, I have had the opportunity to take a week-long cross-country trip and use your software. I am amazed at the functionality and user-friendly nature of the app. Its usefulness is without peer.

Does so many things VFR and IFR, lots of handy, functional little shortcuts to make it easier to use in realtime. The only suggestion I'd have to add would be to overlay sigmets/convective sigmets/airmets over the chart in real time. That would be a lot easier than flipping between this and skyvector.

I got ready to fly a couple of weeks ago, I updated the databases in the software, boom DFW terminal chart gone? So it being Saturday I called support, left message... They called me back Monday and said, ohh we are changing the way it works, so we removed them. Ok, so where do I get it now? Uhh terminal charts will be back in next update.... When is that. Uhh soon... So today I get ready to fly, and the weather is 4 hours old.... It won't update to newer... I once again check the website, no mention of outage. I left message again for support.

You can't even test drive it

The newest version has an has made my Clarity ADS-B Box no longer functional. It says the battery is zero (not correct) and no longer loads radar. Wing X is my favorite APP but this version has some issues. I have tried to email Wing X customer service and never receive a reply. Please fix this issue. I would like to use my ADS-B box again.
Jdieujufuuhioehwjeo's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I use this app on a daily basis, after the most recent update (which was supposed to fix the weather not auto updating) the weather doesn't update AT ALL. Obviously this is a huge problem, and as a long time customer of WingX I'm beginning to seriously consider making the switch to foreflight. These little bugs that we are still dealing with are absolutely ridiculous.
Rightrudder's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
New update-radar takes a very long time to load compared to before.
Steve0041's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I've been using wingx pro for over 2 years now. I converted over from fore flight. It took some getting use to initially but now it's part of every flight. The program has been getting better and better with each update.
Wizard03's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
Amazing App that includes pretty much everything you need for pre-flight planning, in-flight nav and info, and post-flight analysis. Very easy to use, keep up the great work!

I've evaluated and used many EFBs. This one should be free and then "maybe" I would renew my subscription. For some reason They just do not seem to be supporting WingX anymore. New features and fixes seem to take a VERY long time. Foreflight seems to be supported much better however having compatibility issues. Still looking...

A little bit of a learning curve, but once you get it the interface is far better than any other efb. Definitely worth it.
N254MM's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I do like this app but it could be much better. The fact that they give CFIs a free subscription can't be beat. Very smart on their behalf. The user interface needs a makeover for 21st century human factors. The sectional is very cluttered at the default settings. Right out of the box many annoying features must be disabled to make the sectional user friendly for a pilot. It certainly seems it was designed for people who are not pilots or cannot read sectionals. For example, "Heading Ind," a gigantic annoying compass rose, VORs, state borders, etc, etc, all must be disabled in the settings before I use the app. All this data is right there on the sectional already and is just clutter overlaid by the app. A note to the developers: please, please, please for the love of God make there a way to disable those annoying airport labels on the sectional. Also, as stated below, the ability to selectively download individual sectionals as well as terrain data for the synthetic vision (which cannot be used without an external AHRS, anyway) should be features added in the next update.

I have been using this app for over three years. I purchased it after using foreflight and several others on a trial basis. This app has it all! And, they are constantly adding new features. Jim at customer service is knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this app.

Overall it's pretty good. Would like to see terminal area charts and helicopter route charts.
N650Q's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I have found WingX Pro misses traffic that displays accurately on FreeFlight System's ADS-B View app, and also on ForeFlight. I have the FreeFlight Rangr 978 UAT transceiver, so have ADS-B Out/In in my Bonanza, and should get all traffic available, not just partial traffic. I find I do receive more targets with the other apps mentioned above. I reported this problem to the tech team in the past and sent screenshots, but Jim stated they could not replicate the problem. I thought, OK, maybe the range or some other circumstances caused the problem, but this morning as I visually observed a Cessna pass about 1000 ft above me that WingX did not show, but after switching to check with the other apps mentioned and did see that traffic displayed, I am no longer going to use WingX.
Ruta's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
This program costa 99 cents and so you assume some level of usability out of the gate, but the app is completely useless unless you pay for the additional annual subscription which I have intention of doing. So I just paid for a useless app. Thanks a lot. Claick bait!
Bon G. Hickory's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
Garmin and foreflight are easy to figure out but with wingx pro you have to mess around with it for awhile to even start the 30 day free trial.
Luckcpa77's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I have been using this app for more than five years and know it well, many of my fellow pilots show me Foreflight and I show them features that I would not fly without. The biggest is the split screen, I can have my sectional or ifr chart on one screen and an approach plate on the other with geo reference of my plane on both. If you fly ifr, is is the best app out there. Download it and give it a try. You will love it.
Mapav1's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I took a four year hiates from flying and got back into it again last year. I had the best of avionics including a Garman 430. This program is really better in many respects and Only requires an iPad and a GPS transmitter. I'm only flying vfr now but could not have done the flights I have done in the busy northeast corrider weaving my way around different air spaces. It's a great GPS and has many many other functions that I don't really use. I Love this program. thank you PS I got my IFR currency and love using the approach plates. Especially like the Geo referencing so I can see my plane's exact position as I do an approach. I have no problems with slow redraw rate or anything else. Support has been excellent. Program has everything – flight planning, E6B, IFR and VFR for maps, approach plates, Airport information, and weather. Just got ADS-B– from Open Flight and am looking forward to using it on my iPad to display weather and other aircraft. Great program thank you
dg303pilot's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
It’s hard to overstate what a great application this is. The moving map… awesome. Reliability… awesome. Ease of getting information on, say, airports while inflight and making adjustments to the mission “on the fly”… awesome. Seamless integration with my Dual GPS or wifi… awesome. Seriously. That said, there are some elements I wish were better. For example, the learning curve is steep and the documentation is disjointed, much of it referencing outmoded interfaces. Part of the learning curve issue, I think, is that the user interface is not always intuitive. I often find myself asking, hmm… where did I find that last time? Once you get it though, wow. The second, perhaps bigger reason for deducting one star: flight planning is adequate. There are far better tools available, for free, online that what WingX provides for flight planning. This is more a statement on the state of flight planning tools than on WingX’s competence in that area. I’m disappointed to have to continue to use external apps for that reason, but in a pinch, WingX will do the job.

There's a lot of options in the EFB space these days, but for me, WingX is the clear leader when it comes to introducing innovative new features. It also continues to have the best interface for actual in-cockpit use. If you are VFR only, the WingX basic subscription includes many features Brand F and Brand G reserve for their premium subscriptions making WingX great value to boot.

This is a neat program but I am having one issue that I cant seem to get resolved. The nexrad weather and text weather load instantly when connected to wifi, but with ADS-B they load so slowly that it is basically unusable. Imnot sure whether or not the problem is the app or some connectability setting. Ive written two emails and a week later I have yet to hear back. Until I can figure out what the problem is, this app is unuseable for me. With this sorted out, it would be a great app!

Great app. Ive been a user for 4 years and continue to try the competition. This is the most intuitive, easy to use flying app. Less clicks per flight as well. Should be 5 stars.

I have used WingX for a couple years and it is great, but I wish it connected to Dynon or Advanced Flight Systems and we could download flight plans made in WingX direct to them. This would be more useful than interfacing to a watch in my opinion... I hope they make this happen soon.
N141FW's Review of WingxReviewed on 11/19/18 12:34 PM
I have used WingX Pro for two years, it is a very good program, easy to learn and use in the cockpit. Flight planning VFR and IFR are a snap. Synthetic vision is great (runway numbering and markings could be a little better), and support for EFIS interface would help. But that aside, it is at the Forefront of the flight Apps.
