Kakaomap App Reviews

I've researched and tried to switch the app to English but it doesn't seem to be an option. Most of my friends have it in English now with the new update, but mine doesn't work somehow. It'd be nice if there was a language option to select.

I had no issues utilizing this app in Korea. I was able to navigate my way in Seoul and Busan by using this app. Being able to read and type Korean is a plus, as all of the navigation is in Korean. My friends, however, were also able to use this app without knowing the language by tracking their locations and using the maps provided. Overall, great app for traveling through Korea!

네이버 지도보다 다음 지도가 더 좋아서 계속 썼는데 카카오가 완전 쓰레기를 만들어 놨네요 별 한 개도 아까움. 네이버 지도로 넘어갑니다.

English is only available on the Android version of the app. Luckily KakaoBus and KakaoMetro support English but Maps does not. No word yet when English will be added but let’s hope before the Olympics!

English is just a plus. Even without the English options, it’s by far the best Navi to use. Most accurate ETAs and great at reconciling routes. Only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 is that there have been a few times the app has crashed one me. Normally I wouldn’t care, but while driving and using Navi...that can be pretty serious.

This app is cartoonish and missing all the good things about daum 지도. Forcing us to use Kakao maps, brings everyone closer to using google maps. What a sad sad sad app

As most have requested, it would be cool if the iPhone version was translated into English, Last version 4.2.3 had English as an option, and it worked great...until the app was updated to 4.2.4 (bug fixes) and the ability to use the App in English was removed ??!!! Clearly they have the ability to have English as an option.

This app is very useful while working in Korea. But for language, when i use on my iPhone, it dosen't show in English, only Korean Language. But on android, it's okay to use English. Please fix this and it will be very useful for everyone.

Until the recent change to Kakao Maps, the previous Daum Maps app was excellent. It was intuitively designed. If you could navigate Google Maps, you could handle Daum Maps. It helped if you knew a modicum of Korean, but even without that, or was doable. Now that they've COMPLETELY changed EVERYTHING to be nothing more than Kakao Maps, nothing makes sense. Naver Maps has never been my favorite of the Korean mapping apps, but they now have all my business.

위치 인식도 이상하고 장소찾기도 불편하고 업뎃하다가 엉겁결에 업뎃했네요. 예전맵으로 설치하게 해도....

카카오맵 업데이트 한 다음부터 디자인이나 벡터맵 된 거 전부 깔끔하고 좋네요. 한국에선 이거 말고 쓸 거 없는 듯...

The navigation map constantly redraws itself every second or so as the car moves forward. Dear developers, please update the app to provide users with a smoother graphical driving experience. Keep up the good work, though!

Would give 5 stars if English is provided. Best map app if you’re visiting Korea.

This app has really gotten good recently. There are a few features I do still wish for though. - More detailed underground/station maps. - Folders or tags/labels for favorites (possibly with different icons or at least different colored stars). Thanks for the hard work, devs!

이번 업데이트 요금이랑 대기시간 추가된 거 좋다 다만 대중교통 캡에 카카오택시 추가한 팔아먹기 무리수만 아니면 더 좋을 듯

네이버 맵이 쓸데없는 기능에 무거워서 그 동안 다음맵 썼는데 이젠 똑같아졌네. 기능은 안중에도 없고 그저 깔끔하고 미래지향적인 디자인 요구하는 지휘하는 놈이나 임원놈들의 멍청한 압박이 느껴지는 결과물. 불편하게 바뀐 GPS연동 위치 표시, 느린 성능. 다음맵 안쓰면 카카오내비도 쓸 이유가 없지. 그동안 수고했소. 바2

다른 분들이 리뷰에 언급하신 것 처럼 위치 인식에 문제가 있습니다.

카카오는 돈벌이 말고는 아무 관심없는 등신들 모임이냐? 잘 쓰던 다음맵을 왜 쓰레기로 만드는거냐?

A two tips: 1. Responsiveness is key: KakaoMap does not prioritize responsiveness over fidelity, an issue. 2. Think about what the user needs to see on a page, not what looks good on that page. For example, on the route map, "하지" does not provide all necessary information for the user to take a physical action based on that UI - they require the stop name as well. This is a problem throughout the application: prioritize the user, not the visual design of the application. There are dozens of examples of this trade off. Perhaps you should endeavor to hire a trained user experience designer to help orient your application around your users instead of the designer who created your UI assets. 3. The threshold for viewing and access stops on a map directly has changed, the user now needs to be further zoomed in. This is a UX mistake: the primary use cases of this app are driving directions and public transit - especially because responsiveness has decreased so significantly, stop location information should be more readily available at a higher zoom level, improving the user experience by making necessary information more accessible.

가로모드도 지원 안되고..위젯도 더 보기 불편하게 변했네요. 지도 자체는 구글 지도와 디자인도 흡사하고...앱 처음 오픈 인트로는 스포티파이와 판박이..여기저기서 기능을 가져와서 짬뽕 시킨 느낌이에요. 지우고 네이버 지도로 갑니다. 다음지도 잘 사용하고 있었는데 참.. Update: 공지사항에 말만 번지르르하게 적을 시간에 개선해야할점을 먼저 처리하세요. 제품 회사가 좋은 제품으로 소비자와 소통해야지 제품은 개판인데 뭔 그리 말이 많나요? 제발 정신좀 차리세요 정신좀!! Update 2: 일부러 버그 픽스 업데이트 올려서 리뷰 리셋 하는건 아닌지.. Update 3: 혹시나 했지만 역시나...

아니 뭘 이따구로 만드나? 직원이 몇명인데, 가장 기본적인것조차 확인도 안하고 앱을 올리냐? ㅉㅉ

더 좋아져도 시원찮을판에 업그레이드 할 때 마다 더 쓰기불편해지고 나빠짐. 회사가 관리가 안되는 듯.. 이제 망하는 길로 가는 듯.. 제대로 된 경영자라면 그나마 카카오톡 하나 남기고 직원 다 잘라버려야 할 듯

(Update x6) Though this might have to do less with the map (not sure) some busses are 2-3 minutes later than this app suggests. Still the best map in Korea. (Update x5) I have found the accuracy mightily improved and use this daily in my coming and goings in and out of Seoul. I can find everything and more importantly the app finds me. 5 stars. (Update X4) I went to a 회기역 and when I left and went for to 왕십리역 the app kept thinking I was at 회기역 and neither wifi or LTE could convince it otherwise. Not even restarting the app. I needed to know how long before I got off line 5 and I had to use another app- which I think I will use from now on as this app has location issues. (Update X3) After spending time with the app, I now know where things are and it is so much easier to use. I still get placed 8 stations away on LTE, but on wifi it is accurate. So if there is no wifi, this is not the app to use. (Update x2) The accuracy has improved greatly. It takes a few seconds as the dot dances closer to where I am, i am now only on the wrong side of the street, but I can see my bus stop to know tap and get the times. Now that I better understand this app it is becoming easier to use and at times like it better that Daum Maps, but I do miss some things from that app. (Update) I used it again this morning and the app danced my location around the 강남 area, eventually finding me- it works best with wifi on. LTE is the problem I have. I miss the dedicated bus button from Daum maps. When I am at 강변역 it finds me. When I get off at 역삼역 the map says I am still at 강변역. Even after I close it and restart. I am forced to manually find the station I am at so i can check the bus times. Bus times were easier to find. This is a step backwards.

어제 그 난리통에서 소통원활이라니,, 네이버 지도나 마찬가지. 이젠 가로보기도 지원하지 않고,, 별 안주기는 없는지,

어디서찾나요. 너무 실망스러워요. 거지같아요. 네이버지도켜서 봤어요. 이게뭐에요ㅠㅠ.

Pretty good app to use to get around Seoul. It has taxi, bus and subway routes that are pretty accurate and includes estimated costs. I think a person who can’t read Korean will have a slightly more difficult time using the app as the details are 70% in Korean.

I don't know how to change the language to English. Please help me!!!!

엉망입니다. 메뉴도 그렇고 갬색도, 길 찾기등 직관적으로 할수 있어야 하는데 몇번의 오류를 거쳐야 원하는 과정에 이릅니다. 완전히 따로 노는 맵 같습니다. 업데이트에 신경써 주시길 부탁 드립니다.

오늘 아침 업그레이드를 하고 잘 검색 되다가 조금 전 검색하려고 하니 앱이 그냥 닫힘. 계속 닫히길래 리부팅했는데도 계속 닫힘. 문의 글 적어 남기려니 그것도 오류 ;;; 일시적인 현상인 건지.. 알려주세요

기능 퇴화한것도 짜증나는데 카카오의 구린 노란색 디자인때문에 짜증이 두배

Terrible.. hard to navigate... Please fix it back to the old version. I'm going to use Naver maps until you guys fix it.

디자인만 세련되게 바꾸면 단가 왜 잘 쓰던거 카카오로 바뀌더니 인터페이스 거지같이 바꿔놓고 출발 목적지 입력 편해서 항상 썼는데 이거 이렇게 만든 사람 생각이 있는건지

다음맵 초기부터 써온 유저로서, 카카오맵으로의 업데이트를 도저히 이해할 수 없습니다. 타 지도앱에 비해 월등하게 정확한 대중교통 알림과 전국 어디에서 어디를 찍어도 가장 효율적인 교통수단을 알려주던 다음맵 어디갔나요. 카카오맵은 지금 한 일년 업데이트 안한 네비게이션처럼 황당하기 짝이 없는 루트를 내 놓고 그나마도 사용자가 일일이 비교해 가며 선택해야 합니다. 갑자기 출장이 잡히면 사무실 나서면서 지도앱을 켜는데, 카카오맵은 시간만 잡아먹을 뿐입니다. 조용히 삭제하려다가 너무 화가 나서 리뷰 남깁니다. 좋은 앱은, 건드리지 말고 보완하는 선에서 유지 운영해 주면 좋겠습니다.

외관은 전보다 좀 나아보이는데 아이패드도 아이폰도 다 회전 안 되게 했네요 특히 아이패드는 가로가 안 되니 너무 불편합니다. 신속히 조치 안 해주시면 다른 걸로 갈아타렵니다 그리고 카카오로 바꾼 이유는 뭔가요? 다음지도 그냥 써도 되겠구먼요

네이버가 이렇게 변해서 갈아탓더니 이젠 카카오까지 이러네 최장시간으로 추천을 해주지않나 추천해주던 마을버스는 사라지고 19분을 쌩으로 걸으라고 하지않나 별하나 아깝다 진짜 ㅡㅡ 잘가 카카오맵

앱 자체에 언어 설정이 안되네요 한국어든 영어든 앱 언어 설정 기능 좀 넣어주세요

기존 다음 지도는 놔두고 왜 카카오지도로 바꾼건지 이해가 안가네요. 사용하기 너무 불편하고 짜증납니다. 삭제하고 다른 지도앱 사용합니다

Traffic cams don’t work in latest update, all black screens, every camera.

뒤집어서라도 쓸 수 있게 좀 하든가.. 아이패드에서 충전기 위쪽으로 가게 하고 180도 돌려서 쓰는게 안됨. 아이패드에서 180도 회전 지원안할거면 아이패드버전 뭐하러 만든다요? 개발자 답변을 보니 180도 회전은 앞으로도 기대가 안되네요. 가로모드 지원예정이라는건 당신들이 줄곧 얘기했으니 이미 알고 있는 내용이고요, 180도 회전은 가로모드가 아니고 세로모드를 그대로 유지하는겁니다. 개발에 시간이 걸리지도 않을텐데 안하는걸 보니 무슨 말인지도 못알아듣는 모양임. 아이패드용 앱은 거의 대부분이 지원하는 부분이고 심지어 홈화면에서도 180도 회전이 되는데 니들만 모르고 있음.

즐겨찾기 갯수 500개 제한만 풀어주시면 별 다섯개 드리고 영원히 카카오맵 사용할 것 같아요!

길찾기 결과에 고도가 반영된 점은 훌륭합니다. 고도표의 어느 부분이 지도상의 위치인지 알 수 있게 한다면 완벽할 것 같습니다. 앱에서는 경유지가 하나만 가능한데 pc버전과 같이 2개이상 경유할 수 있도록 바뀌면 좋겠습니다. 이것 때문에 네이버 지도를 완전히 버리지 못하고 있습니다. 고맙습니다.

Needs English to help out foreigners. Kakao should step up and be the first gps company to be accessible for foreigners. Google maps is blocked in South Korea- this is the perfect opportunity for Kakao's company to step up & show others how it's done properly!
