Brimstin85's Review of Dashometer
Reviewed on 11/17/19 1:06 PMI purchased this app because I wanted something that would show me altitude, speed and heading information while I drive and bike. I love that the app isn't overly complicated with lame visual graphics. The information is large, easy to read, accurate, and intuitively laid out. No gimmicks and that's huge. I'm a commercial pilot, so I can really appreciate how fast I can find the information I'm interested in. The app is easy to use and very capable. It has plenty of advanced features too, which I really enjoy using. Worth every penny.

Reviewed on 11/17/19 1:06 PMMy Jeep doesn't have a trip meter so I needed a portable odometer to follow trail guides. This app is perfect for this, with some nice features like altitude and compass as well. Also quickly shows your map position. Worth buying if you drive in back country or do road rally!

Reviewed on 11/17/19 1:06 PMLove the HeadsUp display. You can place it on your dash at night and see the reflection in your windshield, and it does not interfere with vision. Only downside is that you cannot cache maps, so while the GPS will work out of cell phone range, you can only identify your longitude and latitude postion. If you have a whole set of maps with you that is OK, but most people do not. I still like TOPO MAPS. A little more expensive, but you can cache maps and know where you are at all times, even out of cell phone range.,

Reviewed on 11/17/19 1:06 PMI noticed Dashometer while browsing the iTunes App store and figured I wouldn't loose much if I didn't like it. Well I like it. On one screen it displays position coordinates, direction in both degrees and cardinal, altitude, speed, and odometer, timer, along with several variations for each display. If features a nice heads-up display mode (called "Mirror Display" in settings) that allows you to fasten your iPhone to the dashboard near the front window (I recommend you don't just set your expensive iPhone on the dashboard while driving) and see the reflected image. Settings allow changing the display color from white to orange or blue for nighttime driving. Briefly tapping the coordinate display brings up a menu that allows showing a trip summary, your position on Google Maps, sending your position (and a Google Maps location URL) via email. or copying your position to the clip/paste board. Dashometer also has the capability to set a distance target or a radius limit that will alert you when you have reached the distance set, or traveled outside the circle defined by the radius limit. It would be nice to have to ability to set any arbitrary coordinate (lat/lon, address, position on a map, etc) to generalize the proximity alarm feature. Read the whole application description above for more info. (I didn't and had to accidently stumble on how to change data parameters - yeah, I know... RTM). I tried it, it works, and I like it. My only criticism is the app needs an info screen for first time users who don't read the full application description like me.

Reviewed on 11/17/19 1:06 PMI bought this app because i needed one that showed magnetic heading, as well as groundspeed for my experimental airplane. Wow, it does so much more, and displays in landscape or portrait. Can change display colors, review flight later with speed, times and altitudes, and the instructions are fantastic, great product, worth a lot more than I paid for it!!

Reviewed on 11/17/19 1:06 PMI downloaded and tried put all the free and lite speedometer apps. Finally found this one that had everything I wanted. The lite version lacked one thing I wanted: mph to the tenths. The screenshot of the paid version appeared to have it so I sprung for the very reasonably priced full version. Found the tenths option in the settings. There are a lot of options in the settings of the paid version! Also contains a owners manual right in app! I'm very satisfied.
