Songsterr Tabs Chords App Reviews

I have explain before to songster, I do not do monthly payments to any place. At most I would consider annual payments but I prefer a one time payment option for everything. If they want to make it ridiculously high then make it high but let me be done with this paying after one payment. Even some groups have lifetime memberships for a large fee. I would like a lifetime membership option to pay with one payment. I use a virtual credit card and it’s too hard to make the card work with these monthly payments that it wants. My virtual cards expire every 12 months and require me to create new ones, and they are better for one time purchases. This company has lost out on a payment (and income) from me by trying to force a monthly plan on me with no other option. I should be able to pay a large fee if they are that focused on getting large fees out of people. If someone pays a lifetime membership fee it’s up to Songsterr to budget the money in a way that gives them money every month. They don’t give me any options and I continue to wait for them to make it possible for me to use it. My guitar teacher bought it when it cost nearly nothing. It’s a shame I can’t use it with him.

I was hoping for the website version where you learn an entire song for free but nope, what I got was the first couple measures and then it stoped the song and said “this was a preview to learn the whole thing pay $5”

I’ve been using Songsterr for many years now and You May find songs not tabbed out perfect but it get you close and trying to figure out the part yourself only makes your ear better. I have nothing to complain about songsterr cause I remember when nothing was like this when I started learning songs !! Thank you songsterr for making songs easier to figure out 🤘🏻

I got about 10 seconds into the song and an add pops up and I can’t do anything else it wants me to play MONEY to go any further!😤😡

You only get a demo in the app of the songs when you can get the whole song on the Songsterr website for free. Just use the WS or use ultimate guitar.

Would’ve given a lot better review cause the app is great but $5 a month is insane!! Back you watching YouTube videos.

On the website you can see the full tabs without paying. In the app they want you to pay $5. Don’t get this app.

Every time I open the app to review the tabs for a particular song you have to type into the search bar the name of the song. No option to save a song as a “favorite” or even show a history of prior searches to quickly and easily go back to the same song.

The website is free and this I can’t write music it is bad

You know that instead of charging a subscription fee if you just ran ads and maybe charged 4.99 for the app things would go a lot better? Best tab system out there by far but come on

Pro guitarist, teacher, and player. I can tab most things by ear. But the things I can’t hear, this app is great. It’s done by a computer from what I can tell, so all the notes are accurate. The only thing it can’t get is what fret the notes are being played on, since you can find the same note multiple places on the fingerboard.

U expect us to pay for ur poorly written tabs and you keep spamming the app wit oh get the full version no i never will because its stupid a def cow could write a better tab than any of urs

Has everything a musician could want but now wants 5 a month instead of a flat 5 bucks

It has great features that would be better if they posted the whole tab of the song WITHOUT SUBSCRIBING TO THE PREMIUM WHICH MAKES USING THE APP USELESS.

The app is amazing and it’s helped me learn many of my favorite songs. But I wish it had a feature were I could mute the part if playing but not the whole band

I wish the base with more realistic. Otherwise I like the format how are you can repeat it slow it down loop it. Thank you for your hard work

There is no free songs Dissapoinment

Since they use user submitted stuff that’s never checked, there are errors all over the place. Most songs are fine, though. I wish it was a one time fee instead of monthly. Be careful. (Eg. Jolene by Dolly Parton isn’t even close of bass). Just one very glaring example. Use this app cautiously.

Y’all got a website I can use. For free. Everything song is the full version without having to stop a few secs in on the song. Just to subscribe to continue. Sooo the website is what I’m sticking with

I downloaded this to print drum tabs. I am very new to drumming so it was a bit over my head (at this time) but I do appreciate that this is a great app and reasonably priced if you print a lot of tab sheets. When I have had questions or concerns, my emails were answered promptly by Denis, who was very kind and helpful in guiding me through any issues. I will likely use the app again after I’ve improved. Note: I was not aware that auto-renewal may occur through the App Store, so be sure you pay attention.

Why pay2play?

My problem is that I bought and pay for the Plus version on my phone, the Plus status does not work on my computer. Any way to works around this or way to use the Plus version on my computer?

i used to use this app when i was a begginer and now i hear music by ear some tabs are wrong and tuning is wrong too. i am finding another app that is better

The app needs work, it’s hard not to get frustrated sometimes and a monthly subscription fee is garbage it should be a 5$ app not 5$ a month

The tuner is bad, and I really wish I could suggest songs, but other than that, this is a useful app

Man I love this app. I have it in on my old LG that I bought for 4.99 but now I have iPhone and when I look up this app you got to pay that same price every month ? I’m sorry but that’s just really dumb & stupid. But the app is really good been using it for years. COULD AT LEAST LOWER THE PRICE

The app is awesome. I’m amazed at how much music is available. The playback remains very tinny and painful to listen to, however, and more importantly I hate that I am unable to see more than one line of the tab at a time. I know that I can play it forward very slowly if I want but when first learning a song it must be still. I am forced to transcribe everything into a book. This is far and away the biggest problem.

The tabs sometimes aren’t perfectly accurate but they’re accurate enough to get you close. If you have a sense of rhythm and a decent ear you can figure out where it might fall short. Overall, it’s a good app and worth the money. I’ve been a subscriber now for about 2 years.

Why the h*** should I pay for something that I can use for free online? It’s not like it’s more convenient to use the app the website is just fine

At least don’t make the app free because it doesn’t make sense when we can only see the first 10 seconds of the songs

It advertises as a free app but it requires a 5 dollar a month subscription in order to see anything. You really have no idea what you are getting. You also can’t do a one time purchase. Lame.

This app has helped me a lot! Playing with people and having songs thrown at me for studio work. I can find the songs quick and get to work on them. The app has a good selection too! For the most part , tabs are accurate, Good enough to get the job done.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

It’s an okay WEBSITE. But I can’t do anything on the app without a subscription.

When I search for tabs Im usually looking for alternative riffs, but I like to learn a lot of death metal and black metal and all sorts of metal. It’s rare that I don’t find what I’m looking for! Always close if not on point to what the songs are! I love it, that’s guys!

To developer , it would be great if you can buy the full version without paying every month. When you do that it would be usable

The website advertises the app for more features, but the only way to take advantage of the features is to subscribe and make monthly payments. If you plan to use their services for free, don’t even bother with the app — it’s much more limiting than the website.

I had a subscription on an older iPad, but (foolishly) upgraded. Now my subscription is not recognized, even when I attempt to do a “restore”. I have re-installed multiple times, but attempts are completely ignored.

I had it for about 45 seconds before deleting it. Look of it had a premium version with more songs and upgrades I'd understand, however I was in on my first song and at around measure 8, it hits me with the "in order to finish the song, get our membership!!!" No. It aggravated me to no end. So it's safe to say it's gone from my phone.

You literally can't look at anything unless you pay unlike the web version. Why not just make this a paid app?

This app is fantastic. I’ve cleaned up my playing on several songs and learned many new ones as well. I love the tempo and isolation features. I recommend subscribing on their website for the pc version and using that login for app access. If you subscribe through the app then you can only use it on iOS devices.

Can’t live without it.

There is something about the trial version that does not inspire me with their love of music, but I certainly get the feeling that they want my money.

I love all of the features that come with the monthly subscription. The feature that allows you to slow down the tab helps a lot but I do wish there was a little more percentages to choose from because on certain songs, the ten percentage gap feels like playing a simple riff to a full on solo. Best purchase I’ve made despite the minor complaint!

Tried my hardest to start learning by ear then I realized no one cares how you learn so long as you can play. This really helps!

Great app for practice. Would be flawless if they improved the sound quality. Sounds good at 100% and 50% speeds but if played at any other, sounds underwater (terrible).

After using the app for years, the developer made an app mod that resulted in the app not showing chords or tabs unless one subscribed to the service. Once they were notified (by myself and I assume others), they fixed the problem within about 24 hours. This is a great app and the developers response was equally great.

A huge help for learning being able to slow down the play through of the tabs. Been playing 12 years and it’s speed up my learning of solos like crazy.

The app is great but I had a problem where if I went from Spotify to Songsterr it would make me renew my subscription.

I’m not going to lie I was not happy when the latest update rendered the app unusable for old users who purchased the app before it was a subscription service. The developer once aware of the issue was proactive to fix the issue and it now works again as promised. I honestly feel with as much as I’ve paid in monthly subscription fees to use the web browser based version across all platforms that I should at least get to keep the app version that I bought long ago for a one time fee. The app itself is excellent and a vital teaching tool for me.

Awesome app for hobbyist Fun easy to read

I bought this app a few years ago when it was a one-time purchase for unlimited access. Now after using it for years, my lifetime purchase seems to be gone. Shady.

Locks you out of your account. You have to enter the Apple ID when you originally purchased the app; after two tries, it locks you out of your purchase.

i prefer the web version, honestly on the web site i could play all the tab, and suggest me to download this app... just to open it and enjoy... previews or 4.99/month... give me a break on the net i can acces all tabs for free, just need ear and search; uninstalled and 1 star... all you developers want -all of you- its just our d**** dollars (...no way dude, own it!)

Updated with ios12 and it puts an annoying blue circle hiding the tabs and asking for monthly subscription. I paid the one time fee when this came out, now it is disabled. This is now worthless and time to move on.

I bought this app about 7 years ago and use it often. I love the app but now it’s trying to charge me $4.99 a month for something I already bought. I’ve reinstalled the app several times and still the same thing. Tells me I can’t make in app purchases when I try to restore but when I get into settings, there isn’t an option anywhere to allow in app purchases. Not cool. One star till it’s working again.

So I mostly play metal and whenever a song gets to a part that has more notes in it instead of them being closer together the side scroll feature just speeds up making the notes unreadable.

I’ve had other TABS apps, never paid for any of them though. My friend pays for this one and it’s AWESOME if you pay for the full version. I don’t pay for the full version because I’m broke and would rather spend money on equipment. My favorite part about this app is that is has almost every song and it is SUPER easy to read, unlike other apps. I had zero questions about how to read these TABS. Also, I love that this app tells you how to strum (up or down). It’s the best TABS app to get an accurate sound. Gotta love it.

What happened to the days where you could get tab for free? Good app i guess, I pay enough for a cell phone each month, not adding more to it with these apps...

... h*** have you been all of my life! First guitar lesson in 1976. I learned to play but had to rely heavily on ear. Now, just about every song i can think of is available here in guitar TAB, and it’s descent TAB! I’m finally able to clean up my chops a bit. If anyone has any desire to play, you can no longer blame it on not finding any guitar TAB. Thank you!!!

It’s a bit of a design flaw when you have your entire app require a subscription to work, yet I can just see full tabs on your website. Kinda brain dead. If it were similar to the website in the sense that one can view the entire tab but certain features are blocked without a subscription, then fine but this is honestly ridiculous

Was one of the last truly free guitar apps out there now they want to nickel and dime you into a monthly subscription. I’ll stick with the Ultimate Guitar app instead. See ya!

You have to subscribe to the app which for me I honestly don’t like, I’m a young musician and I don’t have any money to subscribe to this app every month. I would rather it to be normal and let us practice.

Songsterr iTunes subscriptions are not implemented correctly. You must re-enter your ITUNES password almost every time you open the app. As you may know iTunes passwords are low level and do not support password auto fill. Often Songsterr will fail subscription detection and block you from entering. Maybe someday the developer will fix all this.

Bad app

I had the onetime fee version and now it’s gone with the recent update. Sounds like fraud to me. We should file a class action lawsuit.

Honestly for a company smart enough to develop an app like this, it somewhat astounds me that they developed the option to mute all other instruments except for the part you’re practicing, without developing the option to mute just yours. What’s in there is useless! How does that help develop your ear at all? The app currently functions somewhat like training wheels on a a bike. You can walk through complex pieces from at variable speeds, while it plays all the instruments for you. But eventually, you need to work on you’re ability to play it alone to maximize your tone; yet you have no way of removing just the instrument you’re playing. It would be great if we could keep the accompanying instruments, the tab, the speed control, but then mute the track it’s showing for the tab. As it stands I’m being forced to mute the phone entirely which is really stupid. I may cancel my subscription over this, because I feel like I’ve hit a plateau with songsterr and there’s better alternatives out there. Vote with your wallet!

It makes no sense that you have to buy a subscription to view tabs in the app, but you can go to the website and view and play them for free. The app should at the very least have all the functionality of the site. There's no reason to use this app besides bookmarked tabs to open in Safari later

One of the things that makes no sense is that why would I pay money just to get a couple more features but I can just use the website to read tabs? I like this tab company but I’m not going to pay 5 dollars a month when I can pay 0 on the website and almost get the same experience.

I never use this app, I’ve been try to cancel forever they keep changing me, even after they send me a link to cancel subscription, which I did they still charge me. Please make it easy for people to cancel from The app itself. It’s ridiculous what you have to go through to cancel and still doesn’t work. The stress. Stop the charge. Please please please.

I use the website in my phone and I thought that if you used the app it would not have that s***** banner telling you to get the app that takes up half the screen. I actually had hope for this one. Not even a trial. Wow.

I love this app. I PAYED for it a few years ago but I can’t use it. Now, I have to pay $4.99 a month in order to use it even after I bought it! If you buy an app you should be grandfathered in if the pay terms change. Very bad customer service!

Beware! Do not update if you are a legacy lifetime subscription owner. This update will terminate your subscription. If you reinstall the app as it suggests you will also lose all tracks on your favorite list. Terrible.

If you want to hear everything except your own instrument, switch instruments in the app to something else, then turn off the one that you actually play. This way you can improve your technique and develop an ensemble sound using all the other excellent features of this app. Thanks to Joshman0013 for raising this issue.

I love the app definitely a great app but I’m over playing other people’s music and I’d like to download other apps on my phone but since I can’t end this subscription it won’t let me do anything please help me out I’ve tried doing the whole go to your id route still won’t let cancel it

Edit update: This app is about as comprehensive and flexible a learning tool as you’ll find anywhere. The ability to slow it down in increments is extremely useful, and the song list seems to be growing constantly. Original review: I purchased this app with some skepticism after reading some not-so-flattering reviews, but within months, the reviews got better so I grabbed it. I used to go to a website called Bassmasta, but for some reason, I wasn't able to on my iPad. I'm new to bass guitar after a pretty bad injury forced me away from drums. This app is an excellent learning tool and I have yet to find any obviously incorrectly tabbed songs. It's pretty good. Well worth the $5 or whatever I spent on it. No retreat here!

I search and open a song. Cool. I cannot PLAY the flipping song because I need a flipping “Supscription.” WTH. Don't buy, get Ultimate Guitar Tabs it’s way better. Ok it’s not that great but at least better than this crap.

My guitar teacher got this for either free or something less than $5 when it was new and has it lifetime and he is the only reason I have heard of it. He shows it to his students. There are countless times I thought of buying it but then realized these greed hounds want to keep charging a subscription the rest of my life and don’t even offer a one payment lifetime subscription. Musicians and music students (except for the few stars out there - who don’t need it) aren’t wealthy. My teacher said all his students would bought it for a reasonable fee like $20 lifetime but none of them have because of the subscription. I’m the same although I personally might pay more than $20 as long as it was a one-time charge. I don’t know if they try to take it out of my iTunes or get my credit card but I’m not going to pay something for years at the rate of $60 a year. If they would sent a one time price instead of a subscription, I would pay it. If you are looking at this app, don’t just close the App Store window after you see the price. Ask the developer for a one time fee option. Or else instead of skipping the app, download it and rate it zero and tell why you didn’t keep it. I will probably be ignored by myself but this company has lost countless students by trying to extract a subscription. All my teacher’s students would have bought it except for seeing the endless ongoing fee.

When you google tabs online you’ll often find the entire tab from songster which are almost always incredible quality however when you download the app you only get 8 bars before having to pay to get premium. Why not just use it free online?
