I’ve been a subscriber for a couple of years, but continue to be disappointed with the quality of the iOS app, and lack of native apps for the likes of Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV. Despite a number of updates, the iOS app still does not respond to remote media control events (headset/keyboard buttons for play/pause, skip forward/back). It has to be the only media app in App Store that has this limitation, and one wonders how it is even possible to create any sort of a media app without such support. On iPad, you have to do extra tapping to get it to go full screen, which is baffling. I have a solid internet connection nearly always, but still playback often stalls out and then resumes from some other location, video freezes or goes black while audio continues, and there seems to be little to be done about it. Could be server side issue, but whatever: it needs to be fixed or I cannot justify renewing subscription. Service is not reliable and together with the weirdness of the app itself in its basic function of playing a media stream, it is very disappointing and I’m not seeing improvement. I would hire a new development team.

Confusing interface, buggy, a total ripoff considering the subscription cost. Just try saving something for offline viewing on a flight... to be able to use the app at all you must first login! Not online? Can't login... and the app is entirely disabled! But then it turns out you can't really save anything to your iPad anyway... after a very slow download it gets stuck forever on "Saving - 100%" but never actually saves anything.

How can this streaming service not have an Apple TV app? Please bring an Apple TV app back. It’s classical music, you want to watch it directly on the tv! Thanks.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to display subtitles for operas.

It is extremely disappointing There is no app for Apple tv or Roku or Amazon players. Why???? Everyone else does. Although it works somewhat on my iphone after a few try's, My battery drains so i have to get my charger, blah blah or turn on my computer while it plays beside me and on my tv at the same time. It seems so stupid!! I hate it! Can you please make an app so we don't have to do this stupid way!!

I have a new iPad Air and the app closes every time in less than 5 seconds. No way of using this if there's no fix for this. Did anyone test this before putting the app out on the iTunes Store?

Glitchy. Took a few times to get AirPlay to work.

Just enjoyed an outstanding concert from Paris earlier this month. Thank you for making this a free app and letting me hear these great recent concerts.

Subtitles don't stream to the TV during Airplay (and they stopped updating their AppleTV app) which means you have to watch everything on your device if you want subtitles. also, airplay is glitchy and sometimes you can't start or stop it when you want to. Those items aside, I like a lot of their content. It would be nice to be able to filter by instrument.

I’ve been a subscriber for a few years now. The content is wonderful. So much to choose from. Recent and historical. Across a wide range of artists, composers, modalities. Production quality is usually very good. The app itself (as opposed to the content) has come a long way and is now perfectly adequate. The only reason I gave this four stars rather than five is because the app can still be improved, but it’s entirely usable as is. While it would be greatly advantageous to have a native app for platforms like Roku and Apple TV that are run straight from a TV, that’s not relevant to evaluating the iPad app itself. I do think Medici TV would realize a significant pick-up in subscribers if it could expand to platforms like Roku, which are not only more convenient when using a TV but would also allow for better audio (and perhaps video) than can be accomplished by broadcasting from the iPad to TV via Airplay.

Very frustrating to say the least. After paying not a small sum for a premium yearly membership virtually every video on my iPad has problems. None will work. I keep getting either a spinning circle or an arrow with a line across it. It does work on my computer but I got this to use with my new iPad Pro.

The content in this app is mouth watering for classic music lovers. Easy to navigate. Music and performances load right away in decent resolution quality. I have an iPhone 6 Plus and have not experienced the crashes other reviewers complained about. The navigates between music pieces without trouble.

Excellent content overall, although the ballet and opera content needs to be updated with HD video content. It is shocking that such a quality service does not offer an AppleTV app as it would be far more useful than iOS and macOS apps. I would gladly pay a fee to purchase an AppleTV app. Video streamed to AppleTV using AirPlay on iPhone X running iOS 12.1 is substandard. Video streamed to AppleTV using AirPlay on iPad Pro 10.5 running iOS is substandard. Video streamed to AppleTV using AirPlay on iMac (27-inch, Late 2013) is good quality, but very inconvenient. Getting up to walk to another room to the iMac in order to press pause, FF, RWD or Stop is not good. This alone should downgrade rating to 2-stars, but I want Medici.tv to succeed.

Only few minutes of a concert, most of them you can find them on you tube.. Don't waste your time.

Medici.tv did a very nice job on this application. The content is excellent for those who love classical music. The ability to view live and recent concerts on my iPhone is fantastic. I had no problems watching previously recorded video over WiFi. The sound quality and video quality were very good. It will be interesting to see how it plays over G3 and how well live broadcasts work. The interface is well designed and easy to maneuver. Occasionally it is a tad slow when changing screens, but this is a very minor issue. This is a great app that delivers as advertised - and it's free! Thank you medici.tv.

Great idea, poorly executed and implemented. Software does not provide for smooth and simple airplay to other devices. Unable to advance through video rapidly is a material shortcoming. These guys be the same ones who design video software for airplanes. Just lousy and not well thought through. Won't renew subscription

When streaming from an iPad through Apple TV medici.tv stops streaming when the iPad screen goes to sleep. This behavior did not happen before this update and does not happen with other apps. I contacted the medici.tv help team who suggested that I download the latest version. I did but the problems continue. I have so indicated to them but I have not heard from them in several days. I am considering canceling my subscription.

I can't even consider using or paying for this without one.

I love the concerts and documentaries, but the website, and especially the app are not up to the same standard. The app will not allow scrubbing of the video, so if you've watched half of an hour long video and have to close the app, you have to start from the beginning. At least the concerts have a menu for separate movements. The app search does not bring up even half the results that you get on the website, and wouldn't you think with hundreds of items to choose from, that there would be a way to make a watch list or at least mark as favorites? As much as I would like to have access to the service, it's much too frustrating for the subscription fees.

While the content is excellent, there is no possible way on this app to report a problem or cancel the rather hefty monthly subscription. No help desk, no phone number, no e-mail or physical address for resolving problems.

In ios 7, drop down menus while playing content do not work. They used to but no more. You cannot call them; only contact is by email and they are not at all responsive. Upgraded to ios 9 and app does not work at all. Disconnects while playing anything after a few seconds. Again no response from medici. I am canceling my expensive subscription even though i love the content

App crashes when you try to run content. Don't waste your time.

This App is easy to use and the sound quality and video quality are very good!

Since the update cannot get the app to stream from my IPhone 7. Press the icon and get “connect to” note, which does not respond. Will be canceling my account.

The app itself is very inconsistent. It does not work with AirPlay as it should. Often I cannot get it to work at all. I really have no interest in watching a concert on a phone or sitting at my desk to watch on my computer. Why on earth have you resisted in developing a native app for AppleTV? However on the times I do get it to work through AirPlay, the content is wonderful.

After opening the ipad app, it shuts down after about 10 seconds thus making it completely useless. Please fix or I will close my paid account! You are better than this Medici.tv. Show up for who you really are.

Very simple to use and the quality is excellent! I have new musicians that I would have never been exposed to! Bravo!

I should have read the reviews before subscribing. This app is in a constantly crashly. It's especially disappointing, because the content looks fantastic - if only I could watch it. SMH

this app never works, crash after crash, but great content

After I watched the first concert it stayed on the screen and there is no way to go to another concert.

Since I updated to IOS 12 on my iPad, I can no longer stream using Chromecast. I get a note saying “connect to” but with no options to stream to tv. I have paid for premium. Medici’s Zen desk has been unresponsive about the problem.

Have tried to use the app for a month. Paid $150 annually (upfront) for full version. Confusing main page, very limited controls for playing videos of recorded concerts. If you pause video reply the app often freezes, requiring app restart. Can't use slider to advance or go back on video reply. Contacted customer service (only option: email) about problem. 3 days later I got reply with instructions to use Airplay-she didn't even read my email. I tried to cancel subscription renewal. With 11 months left they cancelled me immediately with NO pro rata refund. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!

What a disappointment to find that virtually every program you might like to watch requires a costly subscription. I find $20/month to be excessive for iPad video when I have to purchase the data from my carrier for streaming it too. There appears to be much good content, but most of it is old--still good probably, but there will not be much new to keep me interested.

Gets you to get the app to watch a movie and when you get the app, you can't watch the movie. Get it together before putting out a product. No wonder classical music is dying.

Something is wrong with the sound.

This is a fantastic site with great content for subscribers. The app crashes every time after stopping running content. Only way to see a different program is to restart. Looking forward to a fix.

I purchased a Samsung smart tv in order to watch medici tv. When I installed the app, I was given a 5-character code to input at www.medici.tv/samsung. There is no www.medici.tv/samsung. Plus the medici website won't recognize my username and password. Nor does the webmaster there respond to email. I spent two frustrating days on this before canceling my subscription. Medici tv is a great idea but a terrible (nonexistent) service. Resist the temptation: It doesn't work. Update (1/28/15) In spite of my better judgment, I tried again. It took hours over several weeks and finally hired professional help to make it work. And it still doesn't work except for 30 minutes when it asks me to get up from my chair in the midst of a concerto or opera to (1) type in my user name and password again, (2) flash the QR code on my screen with my iPad, which I cannot easily do because of my arthritis, and (3) type in a 5-character code just to discover the concerto or opera is starting from the beginning--again. And Medici won't honor the discount they offered because it had expired by the time I finally got the app to work--work for 30 uninterrupted minutes, that is. Medici.tv is a great idea and a very seductive one for lovers of classical music. But in the end, it's a frustrating rip off. Beware.

I paid for a year subscription on the website, but the app did not recognize my subscription, even though it recognized my login. I then paid for a month through the app to hold me over while their “support team” could sort out the technical issue. 3 weeks and 5 emails later, I have yet to hear any response from them other than their automated email. The content is good but the app is extremely glitchy and the support team is non-existent.
