Excellent teaching method, and excellent teaching tool.

For beginnings through experienced drummers this app provides excellent drills. Consistent repetition lays down foundational skills I use it every day and love it. I even use it w my students to teach phonics and math. Many many uses.

I never write reviews for apps, but this one is just off the chart Amazing! You really thought of everything when you set out to make this app! I am so excited to use this app to increase my playing abilities, and appreciate what you've taken the time to do here.

I find this app to be both useful and extremely user friendly. I have had it on my iPhone and iPad, never a single tech issue. The app allows you to see hands and feet at the same time. I'm a beginner and it is really helping me to improve.

Drum School is awesome for someone with a little knowledge of drum music notation, especially for self-pace learners. If you have a drum teacher, it’ll more than make up what I consider minor ‘bug’ fixes, like its missing 1 e & a, 1 an ah, or right/left for rudiments. The metronome line doesn’t snap well to the individual notes, so it can be somewhat troublesome to follow. On some tracks it’s totally inaccurate. The audio sometime distorts when you slow it down to learn some of the rhythms. Overall, very minor. I, personally, would highly recommend this app to a friend.

This is a very nice learning tool. I love the wide range of techniques available. My only recommendation is to consider upgrading the fill options for many of the playing styles. Besides that, I'm very pleased with this application.

If my main instrument were drums, this app would've been a dream come true. It's guitar, and the app was still immensely useful to me in adding rhythmic variation to my playing. If you're disciplined enough, you can turn into a mean drum player just by using this app, without prior drum knowledge (you'd need basic rhythm sight-reading skills only). The app is extremely extensive and newbie-friendly, you can slow down every example and add/remove different hands/feet and the bass line, or slow down the live recording in fast ones, or take a look at various fills for every rhythm provided (there are hundreds). I run it on 4 devices and even on old ones (iPod 5g, ipad 2) it runs super smoothly. Mr Nemeth needs no introduction as a world class cat(check out his records, esp. "Triumph"), and he clearly put dozens of hrs. of effort into this. A suggestion would be to expand the "African" section slightly. But hey, many people would give you a fraction of this content for this price and make the rest in-app purchases so I'm definitely not complaining. Thanks to Nemeth and the devs for their amazing efforts to provide first-rate drum education for everyone with an apple device and a few bucks (and ideally, a drum kit, though not necessary.)

I got an e-drum kit and with zero experience, paired with this app (with its terrific adjustable video loops) I jumped right into fundamental lessons very quickly - no fluff. You build on the complexity from there at your own pace. Get ROI for the price.

Worth the money I'm a bassist and I've always wanted to learn to play drums so I can improve my drum programming this program is great for a novice like me!

I am a beginner, and just wanted something for my phone to plug into my electronic drum set that I could play along with, practice with, etc. this has tons of grooves at adjustable speeds, and tons of practice material that I can play along to with my headphones now, I think this will keep me busy for a long time practicing.

I spent five years in private lessons to learn all of this. I feel this is a pretty complete package of the basics. This is good for any beginner or advanced (to review) many basics grooves. I did not expect this to be as good as it is. Exceeded my expectations. Some nice features which will definitely aid in learning and break down the rhythms into parts. Thank you for this app. :@)

This a must have app for the educated drummer or for those that want to learn. It comes with video demonstrations and techniques that garuntee improvement. : )

Unfortunately someone chose to take this review down in the new section and put it in the older rewiews. Here it is again. I love this app, well worth the money. Very well thought out. I especially like the historical section and the video examples. Also I like that the tempo's are variable for practice purposes. As an experienced player I like having all the styles and rudiments to review at my fingertips. My only concern is my hope that the majority of updates from here on will not all be in-app purchases. If you don't have io7 you will not get the content of the in-app purchases. The price has inched up from 5 to 5.99.

After downloading drum school icon is not anywhere on my ipad mini But there is no problem on iphone5 Fix it plz

This app will put a drummer 2 years ahead of himself! I couldn't read anything, but this app was great in helping my sight reading skills! I'm getting back into drums and this is truly a gem! I wish more beats on jazz could be added. I hope more updates will come!!!!!

Just flat out a waste of money. You’d think if they went through the trouble of Making an app they’d record the drums on something other than a cell phone mic.

I gotta give you credit, the design is really well thought out and works well to explain patterns visually. My complaint is that the ones I have looked through are pretty basic. You should upload longer streams than just short loops of simple beats. I mean this is a pretty expensive app, can you provide some more advanced content?

Very easy to use. Love all the beats. On top of turning on other drummers to this I recommend it to guitar players for practicing with back beats. Need way more Hits, please

Is great for beginners and experienced alike. Is a great way to learn drum notation and finally, what the beats look like on paper!

As a bass player and drummer I've learned so much from this app. I even stole some of the cool bass lines included with the drums grooves. Also, thanks for the continuous updates. Keep up the good work!

So far it's been great... I'm actually learning to have my limbs separate from its unison ways. All I would recommend is more stuff for beginners.

I'm a bass player and I use this app as a drum machine. It's so practical! I would love if the app could open on the same page as I closed it. This way I would spend less time clicking around the app. Not a big issue, but it would help.

As a music teacher, this is a great resource. Clear notation, videos, sound quality. Worth every penny!

I'm a songwriter, multiple genres, and when I'm gigging, writing, or in the studio, I'm always scrambling to both explain and discover the grooves I want the drummer to play. Being able to adjust the tempo and understand which part of the kit is playing what when will help me to create my own beats on my iPad apps. (But, don't worry, drummers, there's nothing like a live drummer, who can provide color and punctuation that make each measure unique! But thanks to this app, I'll be communicate more clearly with my rhythm section.). Just think about what it would cost to get this much info in the pre-app world!

If possible maybe more practice drill around entire kit and possible more fill patterns

I actually find this app way more useful than the Drumeo drum system that cost me $100. Although Drum School doesn't provide much about technique, it has a large library of notated patterns that can be played at any tempo.

Two complaints the position marker- tempo/line don't sync well with audio Slow motion of the video could be better- maybe have the example player start at a slower speed or have two different videos, one slow one fast. Especially for practice stuff But other than that... Totally Worth the buy!!!!!

I have been playing bass for years, but started playing drums just over a year ago. This app has been invaluable to me for learning the various beats for different genres of music. I just recommended this app to someone at guitar center yesterday! My only suggestion is that they put some playalongs in there. Great app, Ferenc! Thanks!

This is an amazing app definitely worth to buy.

I teach drums all day everyday. This is without a doubt the best drum app I have ever used. I use it every day. From beginner to advanced. The metronome and bass components of this app are fantastic. Total winner

Love this. I take lessons and do my simple exercises with metronomes but I use this all the time to try new rhythms beats and fillers when there isn't an actual teacher next to me. Fun and also helpful to watch the video to play along with or choose the adjustable tempo staff notes, good job

As a former musician learning the drum set, this app is fantastic. I see the true potential this app has. I have already learned so much from it. As a beginning drummer, being able to slow down and speed up the riffs makes my learning experience top notch. This app has elevated my motivation. I want to play more. I want to learn more. Simply put, a fantastic app.

This is the best app for drum practising, which is not to say it's perfect. There are lots of bugs to fix yet - for example, if you try to slow down the movies to play along at an easy tempo, you'll get a kind of weird "double soundtrack" that sounds awful. But bugs get fixed in time. I'll wait for the fixes. As for the practice section, we need accented rudiments, rudiments including toms, fills and chops. Again, this is a great app, and allows me to practice with a small pad anywhere - lately i've come to almost enjoy traffic jams! Keep working at it!

This a great app to help keep your skills sharp and to learn new material. I couldn’t be happier with it. The ability to control the tempo and build up is invaluable.

I just got the app and it does not give me the things I need to learn. So for that I give it 1 star
