Ever since 2015, I started to like djay through my life and it really worked well helping my channel get better by making good music. Your new app is good but the PRO pay monthly thing is that I don’t like. Is like wasting money every month instead of getting the whole thing in one buy. Is just that is not the same djay I used to know. the PRO monthly thing torn me up, which I don’t know how am I gonna make music for my channel using the visualizer because, of course, of the PRO monthly thing.

Not for casual music listeners

I currently have Algoriddim's previous "Djay Pro" app in one of the coveted spots on my home row on my iPhone—it far outshines Apple's main music app in both design and functionality for casual music listeners, even though it targets DJs. It made me send the Apple music-app-turned-advertisement to the back of the Apple folder on my home menu. There's a lot of potential here. Does this version of Djay earn that spot on the home row? No. Its design in portrait mode lacks features, puts some features behind its (expensive) subscription model, shows me ads, and provides more useless features than I'd ever want when I'm listening by myself. First, what happened to the slider to change pitch in portrait mode? And who thought that the design around the tempo controls was passable? Why would anyone bother to even set the range to 50% if it only has an up and down arrow that only changes the pitch by .2%? It takes 50 taps to get to 10%. And how come I can't see the sound wave graphic when only one deck is selected in portrait mode? Or that the soundwave graphic does not go from right to left anymore? Or that when I'm only looking at one deck in portrait mode, the other deck's song title and soundwave seek bar still show? Second, the "Start Automix" button is behind the subscription model. What about just playing the next song in the queue? Let's look at the Apple Music app for a sec—it does this! I know Djay does a bunch of fancy stuff in the transition, but what happened to just selecting a playlist and letting it run through? I'm not going to pay a subscription fee to just get the automix. I don't really care for tempo-matching sound effects. I hardly care for two decks, even. Third, when you start the app, you get an ad for the subscription. Every time you select a song, another ad. This is clearly Freemium software, and it wants you to know (and buy). The subscription model is true to its name: "Djay Pro" (meaning, really only for pros, not casual listeners). I'd rather reevaluate the app every year than subscribe and forget. The reevaluation of the app is important in case your favorite features get botched in an new version (like the first point above). Honestly, Algoriddim has a golden app waiting to be published that targets casual listeners. They pretty much had it with the Djay Pro app. Maybe call it Musique, or Musick, or whatever, but just has one deck with all of the features from the Djay Pro app (from two years ago) except for the sound effects (like the foghorn or the FX or Loops section). Just play the music with the soundwave graphic, soundwave seek bar, and buttons and knobs that change pitch, speed, volume, EQ, filter, and cues. Oh, and the automixer. Let settings persist between songs. $4. Update app a year later: charge $4 again. In conclusion, this app is probably the best app for DJs who do DJ-like stuff with only their phone. But for the rest of us looking for refuge from the implosion of the built-in Music App from Apple, this app is not better than the late Djay Pro app of two years ago, and probably not better than other apps in the App Store, and definitely not worth the subscription price.

I don’t like the interface. djay2 is so much nicer and easier to work with. The new one looks like a cartoon and the tempo “buttons” are awful.

Please add an option to analyze BPM

Please add an option to analyze the BPM of the library before playing a song, it is pretty annoying having to guess what the BPM of the song is until you load it.

Disgraceful

1. Importing from files in djay doesn’t work anymore 2. There is no fine scrubbing on the tempo anymore 3. When you play two songs together they try and correct adjustments that don’t need corrected 4. Options is now buried in an ad for djay plus 5. Changing key is now way too convoluted 6. What they replaced the old library system with (the recent sessions) is 2 times worse I hope that you can correct these issues because this use to be one of my favorite apps. Now everything got 2x more complex and 5x worse.

Incredibly buggy and ... !!!

Compared the exact same set list that I can mix with my eyes closed on djay 2 ... and it does not work the same on the new app. 1. Cue point visual arrow just moves left randomly but starts playing from the cue point ... confusing when mixing visually 2. BPM calc different by a few tenths between the two apps - don’t know which one’s more accurate but I trust the old app more 3. With sync turned on, Tapping any of the cue buttons along to the beat to cue the next song in sync just flat out does not work! There’s a noticeable lag and the songs are never in sync ... again ... not an issue on djay2 ... sorry - but this is a basic function and you had it perfect in djay 2 4. Tapping Sync started playing the sync in djay 2 - maybe this was a conscious feature mod but I personally liked it in djay 2 5. The library window does not have a recents playlist on top - really?? 6. When a loop is set say to 8 beats and a cue point button was pushed, djay 2 would start the loop at the cue point - doesn’t get simpler than that! Well you guessed it ... on the new app the loop stays where it is and the song just jumps to the cue point. Again - maybe it was a conscious feature mod but kind of pointless in my opinion. Maybe give us toggles in the settings menu for both item 4 and 6 on my review. 7. Why remove the zoom feature on the wave form when a loop is set? Some good things too ... blazing fast on screen rotations, cleaner look, more cue points, video recording (haven’t tried it). And lastly re: subscriptions - if users have paid for Pro they need to be grandfathered in ... otherwise It’s a sure path to lose customers and users of your software. There’s plenty of other choices. Hope you’ll read this & other critical reviews and promptly address them. Thank you.

Hi, i recently dowloaded this app, to replace my old version of djay (version 4.2.3). The auto-mix on the older version. was great! The one on this version is terrible, i cant get it to auto-play. Every time i try to start the automix function, it sends me back to the main page asking me to upgrade to pro. I only dowloaded the free version because i really just need the classic and automix functions. i would even pay for the basic version (classic and auto-mix) if it worked But It doesn't make sense for me to sign up for a $4.99 monthly plan when i only use the app to play music during xmas, new years and maybe 1-2 private parties, just for fun. So please tell me what i can do to use djay on my iPad ann iMac. Or Can i get the old version back? Tks
