Good app it does what it's suppose to do most of the time. Just be careful about the in app purchases. Won't transfer from iPad to iPhone. Vice versa

Bought this on iPad and liked it. I spent a good deal of money on the in-app purchases for more pedals and amps. Got my new iPhone and installed the app. I selected the "restore in-app purchases" and it will not bring down the gear I previously paid for on my iPad. For that this app deserves a terrible rating. I would give it zero stars if I could based on this garbage. It's no way to treat customers that spend their money on this product.

i started to have issues with the last version on my iphone 4 and now i have the latest version and it doesn't even work

For Christmas, my kids bought me this company’s iRig BlueBoard (foot pedal), iRig Midi Interface and iRig Microphone together with a suite of relevant software (AmpliTube, etc.) Nothing worked. And, perhaps I should explain that for 40 years I was a professor of mathematics and cognitive science at Northwestern, UMass, Purdue, and Indiana Universities - as well as being a software developer and experienced user of computer-based technologies. I’ve now retired and play a harmonica in several local bands (blues, country, rock, bluegrass). I mention this only to make it clear that I’m not an inexperienced user of these kinds of technologies. When I first experienced problems with IK Multimedia’s gadgets and software, I contacted their tech support people, and all they did was to tell me to read their manuals. I did this. And, to prove that I read the manuals thoroughly, I went though one of the manuals and make line-by-line editorial comments pointing out how nearly every sentence was either: (1) unhelpful, (2) completely unclear, (3) incomplete, or (4) completely wrong (in the sense that what was said simply wasn’t accurate). Then, I once again simplified my questions and contacted IK’s tech support people. This time, I did get a few suggestions about possible solutions to my problems. But, once again, virtually every sentence in this message was either: (1) completely unclear, (2) incomplete, or (3) completely wrong (in the sense that what was said simply wasn’t accurate). Also, the tech support person stated that some of the problems that I confronted could only be solved by purchasing more equipment that performed functions that IK Multimedia’s web site claims that their products are intended to do. Next, I tried going to IK Multimedia’s web site to see if there were other ways to get technical support. The contact numbers that were given reported that “the tech support lines were down.” And now, three days later, “the lines are still down." I’ve now seem to have no options except to ask for my money back on these purchases. … If you want to get a quick verification of what I’ve said, try downloading the things that are called “users manuals” for IK Multimedia’s products. The shortcomings will be obvious. These “users manuals” are not really users manuals at all. The simply describe what the products claim to do, but they give almost no information about how you (the user) could actually do any of these things. Also, these “users guides” contain a bunch of nearly identical photographs which contribute almost nothing to the meaningfulness of the text. … In more than 40 years of using a lot of computer-based tools, I’ve never encountered anything this bad in terms of overstated claims, completely useless “users guides”, and dismal tech support.

If you're thinking about buying this keep in mind that it will give a lot of feedback and recording on it is terrible. If you play more of heavy or thrash metal don't buy this.

So far I don't like it, not what I expected.

After a recent update everything started going haywire don't spend the money, don't download the app, don't buy the hardware nothing but headaches

I can't to open after update. Btw. Layout on begining is great. Seems it is not to App Iphone 4 is too old for this App. I will buy new iphone & enjoy in this free app

Updated my IPhone to 8 now no sound on Amplitube. Where's the update for ios 8? You guys were quick to take my money. UPDATE YOUR PRODUCTS!

This app is way below my expectations expectations, don't get me wrong if you are looking for an amp then this is the app for you. But i was looking for something that i could use for looping and recording so i spent $50 in in app purchases. A couple of days later it started to crash and now its not picking up any sound at all. im very disapointed😕

I can tell that a lot of work has gone into the app, and the IK company. Maybe there is a way to get a decent tone out of this app? Someone please explain to me how then? I messed around with it for, well not hours, but minutes. Half hours. It's better than garage band guitar effects, but I haven't found one good distortion setting yet. The price, and cost of the IAP's would be well justified if it sounded good. A lot of time goes into creating these apps. They cost fractions of what the real stuff does, and it all fits in your pocket There is an app, that is like FiIre and Brimstone, right out of the box, no tweaking necessary to achieve an awesome metal distortion, or classic rock sound. Country twang, easy as Southern Pie. If you want to tweak JamUp, and create your own sounds, well it is easier to do than give a winter coat to some one freezing their tail off in the middle of January in Wisconsin. How in the Fu-Man Chu does this app continually get "Featured" on the app store?? It's strange at best, but really more like, what? Bussiness Favortism, or what? Do some research, there are some really cool music apps out there, easiest way to do it: Click on a apple appstore username, you can see all of the reviews that person has done, I've found some great apps that way. Better than any app finder app, or intunes search. Trust me.

This App,it's In-App Purchases & companion Apps do everything they are designed to and more. Once you are comfortable with Amplitube, going on to use any of the other IK Apps is a logical next step. Kudos!

Wont work on iphone 4. Gimme back the original version i purchased. Or offer me my money back. Hate it when somebody sells me something i like the changes it after they have my money and it wont even work. Thumbs down. Terrible update. Lost all previous recorded songs as well.

I bought it awhile ago, they've had lots of problems in the past. After doing the upgrades as they've come along, upgrading to a newer IPod. The app still has problems. I've just have not used it in a year and half then decided to try it again.

I bought the irig and app when it first came out and it's still my favorite walk around / late night practice tool, kinda get annoyed with cables getting tangled but definitely recommend this to any guitarist

Just bought iRig, bought the iPhone app and plugged in my guitar and headphones. No sound! Suspect a software bug. Please fix ASAP

Have to restart my iPhone 6 plus every time I want to use this app. Then it randomly plays music from my phone when I plug in irig. When it finally works it is fun to practice on.

When I open it, it crashes, I then reopen it and it opens fine but lags severely. I spent 10 dollars on this app and near 70 on my iRig setup. Pedals sound great, but with the overall user experience not worth the 10 bucks. I think this version of the app should be free with all of the add ons you have to buy to get anything other than generic pedals and amp modulation.

I’ve not had a more perfect rig in my life. (For me) Amplitube iOS works exactly as advertised. But it wasn’t until I started using Amplitube iOS with IK Multimedia’s iRig Stomp I/O that things really took off. ANY and ALL reservations about Amplitube iOS have been erased since using it LIVE. I had a few concerns about latency — which is MUCH LOWER than every other iOS amp modeler — which were COMPLETELY ERASED using it a gigs and rehearsals. Also, having the option to turn amp cabs on or off gives me huge flexibility in shaping the final sound. I run Amplitube iOS on a 6th generation iPad through a couple Tech21 Power Engine 60s. This is the first time in almost 40 years of playing, that I’ve been 100% happy with my sound. Re-amping is a joy. My recordings are sounding dope. Everything else in my life might be turning to sh%#... but my guitar tone and rig are that bucket of gold at the end of the rainbow. I’ve finally caught the leprechaun!!!! Thanks IK!!

This upgrade will make the app crash on iPhone 4 even though it says it will fix that. Very unhappy!

This app's current version does not work with an apogee interface.

I get no sound tried to restore phone and nothing customer service is non existent went with AmpKit and is mutch better except is more expensive

You do pay for this app. Over the years I have bought multiple effects, amps and extras, I also payed over 20 bucks when I first started using it. How is this paying customer treated? On a regular based I open the app and find pop up ads trying to get me to buy some other extra that must be acknowledged before using the app. IPhone x screen size is not supported 4 months after its release. I'm pretty sure there is bug with power management to. After a session of using this app and then no longer using it I often find the battery draining fast. If I look under settings this app is listed as the number 1 power consumer. This could be great app for practice instead it's just a frustrating money grab.

This app keeps on crashing for me and there has been two updates. I really want to use this app please help.

Not worth it. There are much better apps for bass. The iPad is much better.

So I spent the money on the app, the I Rig Duo for NOTHING!!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK. The app crashes oh and crashes oh and crashes. Can't even play two chords.

Can't get guitar to play through app. Have troubleshot every step. Customer support is garbage and no help. DO NOT BUY!!!

It's a great app by all means. But it's needs to be bluetooth capable. For speakers. Instead of y'all worried about the ole mighty dollar. there's to many dang wires involved. It's a freaking mess to play. You're tied to all the cables you're not free to roam.

The tone you get from this app is TERRIBLE. DO NOT BUY. Wish I could get my money back.

It helps me keep practicing while on the road. I don't need to take my whole rig when I have this.

It's been about a year since I've fired up AmpliTube. Previously, I was annoyed by the pops and weird sounds that came through my headphones so I tended just to use my amp to practice, but it is a) loud, b) in the basement and c) has fewer attached pedal options. This afternoon I pulled out the irig and plugged into my phone. Wow! Lots of improvements have happened. In particular, I am impressed my the much improved sound quality. I'm looking forward to coming back to using AmpliTube for quiet practice after the family goes to bed.

I have tried to use this with my iPad air and also iPhone 6+ but it makes a crackling noise through the amp. I am using only the pedals without the amp simulators as I am running it through my Boogie amp. I was hoping to replace my cumbersome pedal board and am unfortunately, heavily invested with AmpliTube. I have their cables and Blueboard and Pro devices…. I have been in contact with support but all they told me to do was delete and re-download the app which I have done… Googling the problem tells me that there are others with the same… Be careful if you are trying to use this live...

All this app does after paying $20 bucks is try to soak you for more money! They want you to pay for more than one track of recording, more money for different amp combo's and more money for different effects. I keep getting the option to buy more amps and presets etc. it is very cumbersome and unintuitive. Don't waste your money. It is a big hassle to even get it to work.

Nice but should come with a little more amps and options! Spent 150 on irig and now have to spend 50 more for decent metal amps!

Bought the HD connection. No sound on my IPad . Called customer service and got nothing but endless emails and no help. Sound is OK, but it's a lot of poorly developed ideas. Looking for something else.

This is WAY better than buying a 200 dollar amp that does exactly the same thing

Pros - fender 2 collection is immaculate. Sounds incredible and 98% like the real thing! Some genius programmers with some love made that (but IK has terrible business savvy and management) Cons -No good reverb (there's only one IAP reverb pedal and it's awful) -pitch shift pedals tracking sound like robots farting. -tiny pedal collection compared to pc version (why aren't they identical?) -not audiobus 3 compatible. Are your CEOs clueless about ios music community or just lazy and greedy? Also a bit off topic but IK multimedia support wanted me to pay extra money to send in a broken irig hd 2 ($90 down the drain). When my Prosonus interface bricked they immediately sent me a replacement no questions asked, why does IK Multimedia hardware feel like a cash grab? Definitely don't buy IK hardware unless you've tested it first. Or just buy a prosonus itwo. Their support is top notch! :) Honestly IK multimedia feels like the Dell/HP of mobile software. Please up your awareness of this market. Your software looks childish and poorly put together in the big leagues (tonestack, bias FX/amp). I'm so impressed with fender 2 collection! Wish IK multimedia felt more invested in its customer base and had integrity towards them. I feel sorry for the programmers. They should work for a company with integrity like yonac or positive grid. Honestly if you're looking for catch all guitar sim get tonestack (yonac) or bias FX (Positive grid).

Is it just me but did this latest update bug the Audio Demo function? I no longer can audition the audio demo tunes. I am running 10.3.3 on iPhone6plus and i won't get any audible sound from the demo loops anymore.

The worst music app I've ever used. Every part of this app is to charge you more money. You get nothing for the base rate and have to pay more to use the app itself. This is a SCAM!!! DO NOT BUY!!! Even the only free amp is the same amp that comes with the free version of the app, and that amp feeds back in your ears unless you turn it down so low you can't hear it. Safety hazard to your ears!!! You get nothing for your money but junk emails and a bunch of stuff you have to buy to do anything in the app. I'm trying all I can to get a refund for this app. I have lost all faith in the IK multimedia company and will never recommend it use any of their products ever again.

I thought the app with full features but I was wrong! It's really my fault for not reading the description fully, but come on! At least give a few more drum patterns and 1 more track to use! Pretty disappointing to be honest.

So I own the full version, but am told for many of the presets that I have to buy extra things. What use is the "full" version? Plus, I get more noise in this app than in Ampkit or a couple other emulators.

Just updated amplitube ios and upgraded irig pro firmware. Now app tries to start up, but quits before user screen. Iphone 4 users beware.

I've used many amp simulators for years. I've got every version of AmpliTube available hoping that it will somehow live up to the hype. It never does. I am fairly experienced with daws, digital modelers, and traditional gear, and have been a working professional for nearly 30 years. The Amp models sound nothing like the originals (I actually own or have owned many of the amps modeled), the effects sound nothing like the originals (again, I have personal experience), and are barely useable. The IK Multimedia interfaces are noisy and poorly made. GarageBand is better. If I had a choice between amplitube and nothing, I'd go for nothing. Lots of hype. Lots of "big names." The emperor has no clothing. Avoid at all costs.

I absolutely love this app, but recently I can't record using garage band on iOS 9 iPhone 6s. It crashes amplitude and it's useless. Please fix thanks.

Great sound even through an amp! Nothing else to say. I love it!

Contrary to what some other reviewers here have said, I find Amplitube for iPhone to have everything I need. I always find the tone I am looking for when not being able to nail it down with the other apps. And there's the studio, drum loops, looper, and seamless BlueBoard integration! I am not a novice but have been playing in bands for over thirty years. I also have the other amp/effects simulators. So I can honestly say that Amplitube is on top of my list of best iOS investments, based on experience.

This is totally worth the money I paid and I wish people would stop comparing amplitube to bias fx. 👍🏻

After I registered the app, I started to receive a ridiculous amount of junk mail in my inbox; slim fast, reverse mortgage, etc. Over 70 in about 3 hours. I had to shut my alerts off on my phone. Don't register with this company.

I love the app, and all the in app purchases are reasonable even though a little pricey. But I have an iPhone 7 and an iPad. I downloaded the full 20$ version onto my iPhone and it plays great. But then I wanted to download the full version on my iPad, and it's making spend another 20$ just because it's "For the ipad"... would've loved to just download onto my iPad from recent purchases but no. Please fix, then it's worth 5 stars

Use it all the time.

It has been the best upgrade that the application has had but, it still got various bugs: Like sometimes it does not remove the FX properly and also the looper module records well on the first recording Botton but when your going to record on the next one it freezes and it also has a delay.

I'm stunned at the number of negative reviews here. Maybe the reason there are so few reviews is that the rest of us are too busy enjoying ourselves rocking out with this app that we can't be bothered to post a review. Yes, there are in-app purchases. Did you expect great models of name-brand amps/fx for FREE? I've used this at rehearsals and have it handy (with my Blueboard controller) with me as a last-ditch backup for gigs (I play at least 150 club/private/wedding gigs a year). I'd use it live if I needed to. The amp sims are definitely faithful to the originals I've played through. I didn't not understand all the hate here...

Don't bother buying this when you already get GarageBand with iOS. After paying $20 you'll still find that most of the functionality requires additional purchases. The recorder only offers 1 track unless you shell out more for a recording pack. Same with the loops and drums. Just stick with GarageBand as it has more functionality for free.

I have literally stopped using AmpliTube and now exclusively use JamUp Pro. The main reason is due to a hissing in the background that I can't get rid of. The problem is I have contacted customer support about it multiple times, because the hiss is not in any other amp simulator app that I use...only in AmpliTube. I have explained this to them, but the conclusion IK Multimedia keeps arriving at is it is my equipment's fault...even though I don't get hiss in any other app that I use. The noise gate works for the most part, but you can still hear it when you play. I don't have any effect or amp gain cranked...there is no physical reason I can figure why this app makes my guitars hiss. I refuse to make recordings with dirt in the background, so the only reasonable solution for me was to stop using AmpliTube and go to another amp simulator like JamUp Pro that does just about everything AmpliTube does, but without the hiss. I'm hoping some day this gets resolved, because I spent some hard earned money on this not so cheap app. I have talked to other guitarists who have used AmpliTube and they know about the hiss also.

So here's what I think... I recently purchased my iPhone 6 which apparently comes standard with GarageBand already downloaded into the phone. After that I went and purchased an iRig 2 because it was on sale at my guitar store. For a while I fiddled around with GarageBand because it was already on my phone and readily available but to my GarageBand sounds very corny and to electronic. There's too much fuzz in the background (I play with headphones on) doesn't really sound like a real guitar. Granted it has a lot of features and most of the amps and stomp boxes are already pre loaded at purchase how ever it doesn't have good sounds no matter what you play. So I went and purchased Amplitube (version 4.03) and boy was I surprised! The app actually makes my guitar sound like a guitar! It' has much better quality sound and an easy to use interface without all the monitor and background noise canceling jargon that's in GarageBand. It's very clean and well refined. Granted it has some background fuzz but it's not as bad as GarageBand. I know Amplitube apparently has had some issues with older versions but believe me, they seemed to have answered the calls in he las test updates. I love it! Only issue is you have to purchase additional stomp boxes but it's well worth it for the quality of sound

Another person switching to jamup pro here. It was nice to get started with iRig—the interface was ~$30-$40, & there’s a free version of the app. I had my gripes with in app purchases constantly (& even after getting paid version) but ok. I got an iPad and found that it’s a separate thing entirely and no in-app purchases carry over... okay, annoying, but okay—I guess (there are technical explanations/reasons for this). I look into getting some manner of controller to actually be able to use the effects while playing with others (without stopping to tap on my device with the hands I’m using to play guitar)... and it’s another $100+ ... when there are cheap controllers that work for jamup for ~$20... and jamup pro is only $12 and is the same on iPad and iPhone. Unless jamup is a total disaster later on for some reason I haven’t found yet (seems to work about the same as amplitube if not a little more intuitive) I don’t think I’ll be back to the iRig ecosystem. Why not just make the interface a little more expensive and sell a version of the app that is actually all inclusive and doesn’t pester users with in-app purchases IK?? That’s what I wanted in the first place. I guess they’re making money and maybe their gear is really good, I’m not sure—I’m just not ready throw in with a company that seems to be out to nickel and dime us...

I had high hopes for this application, but the features and the interface are terrible for bassists. Not only do you have to pay for the app, but if you want a half way decent amp, you have to pay extra. You also have to pay extra for some decent drum patterns. I feel like I was nickeled and dimed for every little feature. The interface is unintuitive, and I could never figure out how to program a simple drum loop. I’ll go back happily to my Korg Pandora.

Other than the IK Multimedia proprietary ones be compatible?

After purchasing the app for $20, all the features in the screenshots are still locked behind IAP costing $10+ each. Not only is the base app useless without IAP, but it will hard crash an iPhone 7. So bad.

I am used to jackson J-Station processor. This is $20 down the tubes. Terrible, artificial sound. Overdrive sounds like plastic. The complete absence of tone.

I have purchased this app and yes I have made in app purchases. All of it well worth it. I own a Nano amp, iKlip Grip Pro, Power Bridge, iRig HD. if you like getting creative with your guitar playing, this is definitely a great app for you to play your heart out!!! I've had this app since it was first introduced. I started using it on the iPhone 3GS, then the iPhone 4S, iPad mini, and iPhone 6. At first it was great, but as my usage became more intense, I found that the app just can't deliver a clean guitar sound. Amplitube for desktop and laptop offers some of the best clean guitar sounds, so when the new version promised the same sound engine as Amplitube 3, I was excited. My complaint about Amplitube was the d**** clean sound, and I thought this new update will fix this, however, it did not. The app sounds as crunchy as ever on so-called clean settings. I'm very disappointed, I spent a lot of money on in-app purchases, many of them on stomps purchased to create a better clean sound, and still find that I use Positive Grid JamUp and Agile Ampkit way more simply because Amplitube can't deliver a clean amp sound. Every once in a while I come back to Amplitube iOS after an update just to see if the clean sounds have gotten any better, but they do not, so I go back to using my other products, like Positive Grid Jam-Up, Ampkit and Amplitube 3.

Slick update. Now Amplitube won't even open!! I've dumped endless cash into this app, only to be disappointed over and over. At least you're consistent. My cash is going to Jamup from now on, their customer support actually exists!!

Updated 12/12/18 I reviewed this app prior, but just had to say that the wambler pinnacle absolutely nails the "brown sound". Been using this app for yrs now live. Works perfectly, tone is outstanding. Nuff said'. 😎🤘

While all the add-on packs are great (get the Dimebag collection!!) the basic AmpliTube pedals are real gems. For example, the “Metal Distortion” is based on the long out of production Boss HM-2 made famous by early Swedish Death Metal bands. Turn all four knobs to ten, put a noise gate in front, and run it through a dark cleaned up amp and you have done what they did. You will have the “Stockholm Guitar Tone.” The other apps don’t even offer this tone, let alone be so accurate to the analog counterpart. This is just one of many examples. This really is a great system that fits in my pocket with many features. One thing. I can’t afford a Stomp I/O right now. Is there any way to use an expression pedal for wah and pitch bend?

I had to reinstall the app and every time I try to restore my in app purchases , which is hundreds of dollars, I keeps getting a message saying it can’t connect to the App Store , but when I delete and reinstall other apps and restore in app purchases there’s no problem connecting and restoring. I literally feel like ik multimedia stole from me.
