All this app does is crash and play ads. Crashes within 1 song and then open up the app again for another 2 ads. I listen to more ads than songs. After 2-3 times of trying I give up.. and close it for a month. Next moth I think “oh, maybe it changed” “oh maybe it’s a better update” Nope.. never. This app is garbage now. Last 2 years have sucked

I’m old, tired and def in the way.... but 8 tracks gives me easy access to new music, which I play during dance nights!

I had my personal information and passwords breached through the use of this app. It’s been a nightmare resetting all of my passwords & changing my email accounts.

Just shut down if all you play is commercials

All I can say is, finally. Quality listening app with super unique playlists. The streaming site had a few bumps since their beginning that was sad to witness and they did fall out of favor for me. Now they’re back and for a small price of 4.99 a month you can listen without ads or listen for free with the ads. I think both options are definitely a small price to pay for the unique listening experience that you really can’t get from other streaming sites/apps. I’m happy that I can listen to the playlists I haven’t been able to listen to for a couple of years. 8Tracks is finally back to what made them so great in the first place!

I loved 8tracks enough to pay for the full version before this new Spotify integration, but now I absolutely adore it. Star a song and it can go straight into a Spotify playlist specifically for those starred songs. Muah.

I’ve been notified that in June 2017, account info for more than 18 million users was stolen from 8tracks' website.

I installed the app earlier today and was trying to listen to a playlist on my drive to school. It was working fine until, a few songs in, an ad was supposed to play but didn’t. It was supposed to be 30 seconds long but no matter where I clicked it wouldn’t start so the timer never went down. I tried exiting out of and restarting the app several times and though a new add would pop up the same problem occurred.

8tracks has been one of my favorite ways of streaming music for the last three/four years. I’ve found so many great songs and artist thanks to this app. HOWEVER, I do ask, will we ever see the opportunity to make playlists over the app? I’d probably get back into making playlists if that ever came to fruition. Keep up the good work!

Every song I’ve starred gave me the the ‘not on spotify, life goes on’ message. I was able to find all of them in seconds by searching for either the artist or song myself.

I have been using 8tracks since 2010 (wow!). I love this site. I have found so many new artists I enjoy but I also have found playlists that speak to me more than albums by my favorite musicians. The study playlists I found honestly got me through college. I turned to some more angsty playlists to get me through my first year of teaching. Now, I turn to 8tracks all the time. I only have ever had to contact support from 8tracks once and it was the best customer service I have ever had-prompt, personal, correct. I love 8tracks.

Good app, glad they fixed the old issues. That said! These new audio ads are fine and all, but instead of just interrupting playlists, they're actually skipping songs! If I click on the playlist I want to hear all of the songs in it and these new ads (be they actual advertisments or those weird replacement song ads that I hate) are literally ruining the craftsmanship that people tend to put into these playlists re: mood and song order. Ads are fine, but fix them so they don't delete our songs.

I was a long time user until you guys switched to a paid service. Thanks for bringing back the good old days of great free playlist.

Seriously. I used to swear by this as the one place to get music. I still want to. But now it’s so overrun with ads. And before anyone wants to mention the subscription, I paid for it. And it made no difference. Just like everything else that used to be quality, it’s devolved into a relentless ad monster. It’s still great for music, as long as you’re ready to pay money AND be solicited to.

I love 8tracks and the playlist that are generated. The music is diverse and has opened my ears to new things. The app is easy to use, this is my favorite music streaming service!

Love this app. Just wish there was more benefits for subscription. Not a lot of significant advantages over the free version as it stands. But it’s my main music streaming platform. Perfect to expose myself to different bands and artists I would not have discovered otherwise.

I’ve had this app for years. I downloaded it before they had the whole pay to listen thing, and it was my favorite way to find new songs because there’s so much there that people have never heard. I was so disappointed when they started limiting how much music you can listen to, but of course I still used the app as much as I could. I’m so excited that unlimited listening is back!!! Can’t wait to see where the next updates take us.

Started listening to 8tracks 5 yrs ago and left but I am now back due to I see you guys brought back unlimited listening with ads.

I love the way the commercials are now it's really more enjoyable than the limited listening time. Something I would like request is if users can put playlist in different folders that are public to Users (maybe just like another tab on a person's profile) Also having back covers would be neat.

Since they added the ads that pop up after every 3 songs it’s not worth it. Don’t waste your time

2014 was the year where many software and applications started to become owned or influenced by Google. Take YouTube for example, it was an independent video streaming source of an internet sensation where everyone could be heard and seen. Many websites had changed their styles to look more like Google and some even made partnerships with them. I seriously miss the days when I didn’t have to hear “login with gmail.” In addition, I have always loved the styles of the own independent websites e.g: square profile pictures and not circle, font in text not being changed, not having to see a community become a part of Google or some of their ideas. I miss 8tracks being that way. The structure used to be better. If there is any reason why so many programs are becoming influenced by Google, I would like to know. I miss the old design and setup from 8tracks where I didn’t need to get a subscription to listen to music. I felt like I was apparently forced to make a billing payment to listen to be best music I couldn’t find anywhere else. Hopefully, I would like to see more of the “classic” return. As for Google, it turns out that Google likes to use any benefit or hidden opportunity from their users to make a business out of something with a subscription that would eventually take money from their pockets. Like the time in the fall of 2016, where Apple could not longer get their users to listen to the YouTube version of Safari in the background. The music would cut right away. They did this for business and YouTube Red could tell you that. Also, it turns out that iOS 11 was a terrible update for the Safari version of 8tracks. Once I lagged or it rained, or I even forget to unlock my phone to listen to the next track since it won't play it with my phone locked, it skips the next track, until I see get a noticed telling me I reach the skip limit when I haven’t done it at all.

My process: -Downloaded the app knowing nothing about it. -Tried to auth with google. -After Authentication and accepting privileges for the app to view my basic info, I was redirected to create an account where I was asked to pick a user, add email address, and pass. -Error. Email already in use... -Ok, well then... I’ll click sign in. Prompted with another google auth button.. clicked. -prompted to again accept privileges for 8tracks to view my info. And guess what. I was redirected to create an account yet again. -this time I changed my email address and finally I’m in! -Nope! Instead I’m hit with a product page already trying to up-sell me before I even see what the app has to offer... -Click the X and close the ridiculous modal asking me to pay for an app that I’ve yet to see. -at this point I’m frustrated with everything about this process but I decided to be optimistic and at least try to play something... -clicked on a genre, and then I clicked the first recommendation... -oh... of course. A 30 second ad for something so irrelevant to music or the genre or anything I would give a second thought to. -10 seconds into the ad, I closed the app, deleted it. And wrote this feedback so the marketing team can collect some insight on how new users should be treated and why I feel like one star is too good for this app.

There is no trending section on this app. Sometimes I’m just here to discover what other people on here are listening to *today.* When I go to “explore” it only shows me playlists based on other playlists that I have liked. So now I’m stuck in 2014. 2014 was a great year for music and all, but it’s 2018.

I’ve been listening through 8tracks for a few years now and I must say that it is my all time favorite app for music. I tried other apps but nothing really compared. 8tracks really cares about its community, and listens to its concerns. I have never had a way to listen to music that so perfectly fits my mood before I had 8tracks. There are playlists for literally everything. I’m sad that 8tracks is not yet available outside of the U.S. & Canada, but will continue to use 8tracks for as long as possible!!! Thank you for creating such a fulfilling music experience. 😄

I really feel like this is a super interesting and fun way to discover new music, and the app runs really smoothly for that. However, the experience is only half available on mobile- I'd really like to see an update happen where users can also publish and create new playlists on a mobile platform.

Why? User created playlists offer a broad selection of great tunes and an easy way to find new stuff. Less ads more music. Are there downsides? Yes. To me they are that you can only listen to a playlist once in 24 hours which I could do without but it does force me to find new stuff. The search functions could be better. And I still don’t know how to create my own playlists. Other than that it’s one of few apps I’d rate five starts. Been on 8tracks for a solid few years and never been disappointed.

I just wish I could see all of my favorited tracks. It only shows the 20 most recent tracks currently.

Prefer this to Spotify

You open the app... two 30 second ads in a row... you chose a new playlist... 30 second ad... you try to skip a song 30 second ad... you open the app midway through an ad? Well you’ll get another one. You so much as breath with this app open and you’ll get a 30 second ad.

I have been using 8tracks since 2013 & it’s still my go to for listening to music. It was where I first discovered artists like Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, & The Neighbourhood. Hands down worth paying for the plus! Love listening on my phone or on the website when I’m on my computer.

I have been using this app for years! It was so helpful during my college years. I can always discover new music here and I love creating my own playlist and seeing how popular they become! Even when it went to a paid version, I decided it was worth the small fee being requested monthly!

Now, it has been awhile since I've used this app, probably since it's very early beginnings "when things were young, wild & free", BUT, not free anymore. I redownloaded the app because this is where through shared playlists I discovered some really cool music and new artists. Now, I can't even log in to use the app and I believe 8tracks has gone astray as so many others have and decided to start charging and become a subscription model, for what?? To listen to music through it at a price when I can use Pandora, Youtubes Music Channels my other music apps and a host of other ways , for free?? Screw this app and who needs it? It hasn't gotten very far and/or progressed or innovated since the last time I used it and as a matter of fact it's only gone negative by charging us to hear music per month.Not. This app is coming off my phone and never back on again.

I am am an expert introvert. I have always used, and still use, music as an escape/way to connect with people and eventually grow into that. Still to this day, I always come back to this app for music. I have been using this since I was 14 and I’m now 21 and excited to be expecting my first child with my fiancé.

I keep getting this error with nearly every playlist I play and it’s becoming increasingly annoying. I don’t know how to fix it or if it’s a bug or something but I hope it’s only temporary.

Used to be one of the best apps out there. Now it’s littered with ads. Can barely listen to 3 songs in a row without double ads playing.

Always crashes

So basically all my favorites tracks disappeared with the Spotify transfer update thingy majig, idk what to call it. It would be nice if the app could have a separate tab for all of your favorited tracks, not just the ones that transfer over to Spotify. 4 stars because they removed the listening limit and I’m now on a subscription because you guys listened to the community so take my money. 5 stars if y’all fix :)

8tracks is a great idea for an app, and for a while, I honestly loved it. But the ads are driving me crazy. I understand that some ads are necessary, but the frequency and repetition of audio ads is obnoxious. It’s the same ads repeated over and over. After the 20th time in a row, it’s just too much. Also, often I’ll be listening to a playlist to try to de-stress, and all of the sudden this disturbing and accusatory d**** driving ad will come on. I wish we had more say in what type of ads we have to listen to.

Thank you guys for finally going back to the old ways. I was so upset about the limits that I had deleted and forgotten the app. So happy to see the limits have been lifted, I’ve been missing this app so bad. Can’t wait to start getting back into it.

Decided to try it based on the many 4-5 star ratings. Biggest annoyance: just installed, before the first track, you need to listen to a 30 seconds ad :-( Playlist: you get zero information about the tracks included. Track information appears as it begins playing... Fine... after skipping the first 3 (I own them, and not interested in listening to what I already have in my library, definitely not with a 30 second ad interruptions), a message appears, saying, you can't skip more than 3 tracks.. Okaaay... Switched to another Playlist. Before it begins, you get a bonus! 2 x 30 seconds ads!!! Thank you, but I'll stick to online radio and SoundCloud, at least with the later, I can select a song I haven't heard before. My Score: LAME!

Been using this app since 2013. It’s been through a few rough stages but getting 8tracks plus for an affordable yearly price was the best choice I’ve ever made. I recommend this app to everyone I know

This has been my absolute favorite music platform since discovering it back in 2012. The user-generated model is such a great way to receive music one may have not considered before. More importantly, the search process is great. I love the ability to link moods together to find great playlists.

I’m glad that 8tracks doesn’t limit listening hours anymore. It’s a great app to discover new music if you don’t mind occasional ads.
