Reviewed on 11/17/19 12:55 PMCrashes every time I try and read a magazine. Absolutely terrible now. Please fix it. Updated and still crashes on opening. It's garbage now and I'm paying for a subscription that's worthless. Fix it, or give me my money back

Reviewed on 11/17/19 12:55 PMIf you thought, like I did, that this had ANY relationship to the magazine subscription you currently enjoy, well, like me, you were mistaken. This is just a second way to purchase another digital subscription of the same magazine you already enjoy reading on paper every month. Don't bother looking for any way to link up your paper subscription, or do anything associated with it. This is just a standalone app to let you purchase individual issues or a subscription, but this is a separate disconnected subscription from what you may have now. And to the reviewers saying "just email them and tell them you're a print subscriber and to turn on digital", they aren't going to do that for free. Astronomy is a small circulation magazine to begin with - they charge their own subscribers right NOW if we also want a digital version. Bottom line - if you don't get the magazine at all, the may be a valid way to do it, but that's it.

Reviewed on 11/17/19 12:55 PMThe reader application for Astronomy is very poor. It's made by Yudu, and is the same reader app used by several other magazines. It's basically a glorified PDF. The text viewing mode is terrible... It does NOT remember the text size you select (contrary to a demo video posted by Yudu's CEO). So it forces you to reset your text size each time you view a new article. To make things even worse, the "text view" is one long file for the entire magazine, not per article. So when you increase your text size with each article you view, it reflows the text moving your backwards several pages in the magazine, so now you must scroll forward manually to find the start of your article, since it does NOT maintain your position when increasing the font size. This is maddening, and has to be done each and every time you view an article. I encourage Astronomy to switch to Adobe Digital Publishing Suite as soon as possible and put out a properly formatted edition, like Scientific American has done.

Reviewed on 11/17/19 12:55 PMUnable to download my issues, keeps giving error msg missing file. Then after updating it keeps crashing. Unable to access for several wks. So now l'm paying you for nothing! Astronomy don't be sad, S&T and Sky at Night apps are equally terrible and useless!! Pls note this review pertains only to the app. The content (when you're able to access!) is terrific.

Reviewed on 11/17/19 12:55 PMI like Astronomy's content, but I thought paying twice for the magazine to get it to download it was a little excessive. Now I get the joy of having to try to get my money back from a product that doesn't seem to have any customer service.

Reviewed on 11/17/19 12:55 PMWhy can't they just give the real costs? Inside the app, they want $6 per issue (I am not going to play their silly $ x.99 game) and, somewhat strangely, $4 for a single issue subscription. The catch being that it goes on, month after month until you de-subscribe. Same deal on the yearly subscription at $43, or $3.58 per issue. I love the magazine and would prefer to read it on my iPad for bulk and preservation reasons, but the price should be lower.

Reviewed on 11/17/19 12:55 PMI am both a print and digital subscriber. Both subscriptions were purchased through the AM website. Big mistake if you want to use the AM app! It will only work if you purchase your subscription through the app. Now I'm stuck with a worthless digital subscription that I cannot read on my iPod Touch!
