Reviewed on 9/28/18 2:39 PMThe site is a great tool for finding home health aides provided you conduct requisite vetting through background checks and are mindful of how you write your ad. Being direct, honest and forthright in what you seek for care helps reveal those best suited for your needs. Transparency on your part helps establish a modicum of trust and openness with applicants - in this way you are better able to quickly determine the best match on both sides of the equation. This site is a tool to help facilitate your needs and help employ some fine applicants that can become a valued member of your health care team. It is integral to make sure those you are interviewing have references and are willing to allow a background check. A special note is that it is important to consider older employees as they often are overlooked in mainstream companies - sadly, their experience, strength and wisdom is overlooked in favor of younger counterparts - both are valuable of course.

The app has little green adjective next to caregivers, but will not define what they mean, like “premium" or the other symbols next to caregivers' names. The app does not allow me to see ALL ratings for a caregiver. For instance, 1 person is showing 3 1/3 starts over 8 ratings. But when I click to read reviews, only 4 reviews come up, all with 5 stars only. Good luck finding a phone number for customer service; they don’t want to talk to you. Good luck finding the meaning of a “Basic” versus “premium” and what benefits each gives you. Last time I signed up, a credit card was as good as cash; now, Care.com forces you to authorize in-app purchase and subscribe monthly through Apple’s App Store. What a nightmare! A lot of responses to job postings seem to be bots with fake profiles designed to make it look as if there are more human applicants than there truly are. You can’t view background checks you’ve paid for in the app, only on the browser. Lastly, care.com is overly intrusive, trying to insert itself in every aspect of your dealing with prospective childcare. It makes you want to cut and run ASAP.

The guidelines for job posting and profile are not helpful. For example, I posted a picture of my baby with a Saints jersey and got rejected. Checked the guideline and didn’t find anything. Reviewed on 9/20/18 2:33 AMIn theory this app and service is great, but the reality is it is expensive, and half of the people who respond to your job postings aren’t available for the actual job, or just don’t show up. I have managed to find several care givers through the app (2 total, but I probably messaged back and forth with between 10-20 just to get to that point). It was stressful and time consuming. The app itself works pretty well, and is fairly easy to navigate, but it isn’t clear when posting jobs how to indicate what date/time the job is for (my recommendation is to put it prominently in the TITLE of the job posting, otherwise people who are not even available for that day or time will reply to the job posting!) My other major complaint is the majority of people who respond to your job posts have no intention of following through, and although they initially seem interested just totally flake out! I wish they could vet the caregivers a little more thoroughly.

Sitters who advertise have no accountability. Over the years I have consistently fond that for the few who actually respond to my ads or requests, I have a 50% chance that they’ll actually be truthful about the times, rates, or services that they advertise. Moreover I have a 50/50 record for them actually showing up to an interview after scheduling - of course that could be due to poor work ethic as well. I’ve been stood up for countless interviews and for actual jobs as well. Even though it seems like this app should be a good idea, for all the trouble...and for the potential rip off...you’re better off trying a local Facebook nanny search page or even craigslist and checking references carefully - at least it’s cheaper!

The message screen on the app never would load at all. I asked for a refund but unless you are willing to be on hold for hours you won’t get through. They finally emailed me and gave me a bunch of trouble shooting things to try, none of which are applicable because they assumed I was on a normal computer. She had me kicked off the site before I could give her a negative review! THEN, the app just cancels my subscription because this young lady thought that was reportable. No investigation, just cancels me when I’m in a crunch. AND tells everyone you’re interviewing that you’ve been kicked off the site. Very poor business model. Jsajanelle's Review of Carecom
Reviewed on 8/27/18 6:06 PMNannies and Caregivers should be allowed to rate families who are interested in hiring us and also, families who have hired or contacted us for employment. A lot of families on this app tend to not understand the fact that many people utilize this app as a direct source of income. And so, these families having already contacted and requested a sitter for a time and day, after knowing that us, nannies, have already made timely arrangements and adjustments to our schedules, will cancel set employment times an hour to a couple of hours before the babysitting would have commenced. Multiple families have let me go, without giving me a days or weeks notice, on the day of babysitting, and a lot will not confirm or respond in a timely manner the same as I do. So, Care.com should figure out a way us, caregivers, can rate families the way families rate us, just so they can be kept in check and molded into responsible employers because as of right now, most families using care.com are not responsible employers.

Reviewed on 8/25/18 7:07 AMThis service is pathetic, I was thinking I found a tool to make my already difficult life as a single mother, just a little easier by assisting me in finding a nanny / sitter for my newborn. I spent time typing out my ad and putting in all my information and photos and then after checking my messages, it tells me I have to PAY to communicate with these people that have reached out to me. And I don’t just mean maybe a one time small fee, THEYRE ASKING FOR $40 MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP. Outrageous. Childcare is already expensive and unaffordable for most single parents in the country, this company Care.com is trying to lead an example that people should be forced to spend more to have decent care for their children so THEY CAN GO TO WORK. I would understand charging a small fee for a “premium account” where you can get background checks and access to profiles of high rated members and driving records. But just for essentially classifieds for babysitters trying to make a small living? Disgusting.

Reviewed on 8/13/18 7:18 PMBe VERY careful if you use this service, especially when you try to unsubscribe. This company thrives on trickery and vagueness. You are seemingly able to join and communicate with nannies without upgrading to a premium membership, but you’ll soon find out you can’t message caregivers unless you pay for the premium package. Shady, but whatever. But then when you need to cancel your subscription they make it near-impossible to do so. If you write to them for assistance with canceling they will either send you unhelpful form letter responses or direct you to another party for assistance (like iTunes) telling you that they are unable to help you cancel your account. Additionally they auto-renew your membership and only alert you to this in the very fine print, so many people don’t realize that signing up for a specific amount of time is actually a lifetime membership. They do not send you alerts when they are charging your card again and again. Honestly I’m shocked someone hasn’t sued them yet and I think they take advantage of the fact that we are all moms/dads of babies and don’t have time to follow-up every single day just to cancel our subscription or that we won’t notice that we are being charged for a service we no longer want or need.

Reviewed on 7/17/18 1:09 AMJuly 16, 3018 Update The app has been vastly improved but still very buggy. I’ve changed it from 1 star to 3 star. October 14, 3017 Review Honestly this is a horrible app. There are so many glitches I rather not use it at all. Where do I even begin. 1. The app is a battery hog I could see my battery draining every time I use it. 2. Some days the texting feature works great other times are such a lag that other person doesn’t see the message for hours. 3. The profile picture will load sometimes and other times you would have to back out of the screen and go back into the profile to see the picture. Sometimes you have to do this a couple times before you actually see a profile picture. 4. The idea of hiding your telephone number when texting is horrible. They should allow us to enable or disable that feature. It should be up to the user if they want to keep their telephone hidden or shown. Not up to the app. 5. Sometimes apple just freeze trying to load messages or to view peoples profile 6. Other times when you’re messaging multiple providers the app would show that you have an incoming message with a red dot. Sometimes it does not tell you who specifically sent a message and even after going through all the messages the red dot still does not disappear. 7. To make matters worse I get spam from many companies that provide nanny or childcare service syncing my business. There are plenty more bugs but I also don’t have that kind of time to list everything. Overall this is a very frustrating app. I’m sure I have lost several potential nanny for my kids because it either did not work correctly for me or the nanny.

Reviewed on 7/16/18 1:32 PMNot only does this cost a fortune to even try out the applicants available are slim to none! They should really at least let you try it out for free for a week so you know what you’re getting into before you hand over your hard earned money!! App claims to offer many other services besides babysitting, but it would be easier ( and free) to just look through the local classified ads and randomly pick a “baby sitter” ( that’s all you’re getting at care.com regardless) I’m also frustrated and angry that I spent so much money to just get to take a peek if there was anyone actually available to work for...me but no there isn’t. App does allow you to leave messages with applicants to see if they’d be interested in working for you, but again....that is something you can do yourself through the classifieds. Care.com is a cyst pool of people trapped trying to get/receive help and Care.com profiting for not! I feel like, as a consumer who is in need of service, I was completely taken advantage of! Come on, they charge a finders fee every single time you pay someone??? And that’s just one of the ways they love to charge you money! I hate to think the cut they take from the providers on their site!? Care.com is really all about them making money and nothing about providing a service...or should I say “Care”ing. Again...classifieds...for free!

Reviewed on 7/15/18 8:57 PMI think the app is reasonably user friendly. Overall it’s organized well. I’m not crazy about the ad hoc manner in which the site hides phone numbers. In my opinion we’re all adults (or should be. Teens should not be permitted to advertise), and if we want to share phone numbers that should be our choice. I have had technical difficulties on more than one occasion where I couldn’t connect with someone because the tap phone feature was malfunctioning. I also think there should be a separate part of the site for those seeking long-term child care, as opposed to a casual babysitter. But perhaps my biggest gripe is not with the site itself from a technical perspective, but with its efficacy. I have at least 10 people who ignore my outreach efforts (after they responded to my add), or who don’t show up for a phone or in-person interview for every one person who responds and follows through. As a result, the process of finding a nanny or sitter is extremely time intensive, and the opposite of convenient, which surely the developers of the app intended. Of course you can’t blame care.com for that. But I do think that is an important component to share with anyone contemplating signing up for a membership.

Care chat / call - the audio quality and ability ..both are severely lacking in maturity. It is so bad and it is an added pain when you need to talk to potential candidates. Firstly both parties need to have enable it. Secondly Most candidates provide their scrambled phone numbers. So whatever privacy this care call option is supposed is provide is moot. 2. Rating - this app triggers rating pop-ups. Your only option is either to not rate or give it 5 stars - VERY SELF SERVING 3. Hires - it encourages you to mark the person you hired without giving options to say you couldn’t hire and for what reason The app itself is a nightmare and it is quickly losing both potential candidates and potential employers. While 3.5 years ago I got good candidates ... I have been having a hard time to find someone suitable for various things in the last 2 years ...and I suspect one of the reason is the bad technology is either driving people away or somehow not being efficient in connecting both parties

There is a babysitter in my building who did not pay the premium and she never came up in my search and I never came up in her search either. Now I am working with that babysitter and extremely happy with her! What this app is doing is really bad! Trying to show that whoever pays more becomes qualified and ready to work!!!! Disgraceful and disgusting what you guys are doing!!! You are very dishonest! I was going to buy a premium and search for maids and other services but not anymore after discovering what they have been doing.

It won’t connect instead will charge you another $39.99. Also, the customer service is awful. I called to cancel after being charged the next month (though I only signed up for one AND cancelled my subscription l) and they said it had been cancelled and refunded. 3 months later I see I’m still being charged $39.99... again I call to cancel, this time my call was answered by a call center. The woman (conveniently ) states “there are no notes in the system saying you cancelled, however I can refund you 1 month.” Well, that’s a good start but what about the remaining $79.98? I’m not wasting my money on Care.com’s mistake. Of course I get the usual blah blah blah from here, “that’s all I can provide for you ma’am” and “no I can’t transfer you to anyone else but they will call you” and “we will reach out to you with a response by e-mail n the next 7-10 business days” etc etc... Waste of time. Worst part is we never even found care because though I filled out a very detailed schedule, the amount I could pay and the hours I needed, everyone and their mom who doesn’t fit the above stated needs reached out with none (literally none) matching up with what we were looking for. Save your time and save your money.

You have to buy it off of care.com which is BS. This is preventing me from becoming a “carepro.” Alongside of uploading files, there should be a portfolio section where you can upload a background check, a resume, certifications, and other credentials and files specific to your job applications. There is “the file cabinet” but it won’t let you upload anything. The only thing you can do is file your w4, so that section is a waste of a resource. Where is the wepay section?? You should have that in pay& benefits! I cannot believe that there is no place that you can write in your direct deposit account information. So frustrating. How can people be proactive about getting their accounts set up? I have to click all over this entire website to figure out how to do what I want to do. Your app doesn’t work well. When you ask to “request a payment” under the Pay& Benefits tab, it shows you all of these people that I haven’t worked with but says I’ve been hired by them. When I haven’t even talked to half of them. There were so many of them that the one person that I actually worked for wasn’t even on there and I have to close out, find his profile, and request payment that way to get to him. So ridiculous On your app, I’ve requested payments that then don’t show up on your actual website even when I wait days afterwards for it to show up. For my schedule, my first family also was using care.com for the first time and didn’t know how to navigate around either. He scheduled me from 7:30-4:30 for the next 4 weeks when he only needed me for 1 week. He doesn’t know how to change it, and I don’t have the authority change it, so now my schedule is incorrect to other users for the next 4 weeks. I should be able to manage my own schedule manually. Under upcoming bookings, I have a booking that was scheduled for June 4th that is just sitting there because there’s no way to complete or cancel it to make it go away. Also when you click on it to see the details, the “cancel” button doesn’t work. You have to click outside of the screen for it to go away. Just annoying

I provided them with my operating system and browser info. They say they cannot duplicate the problem and implied that I don’t know how to use my own computer by explaining how my scroll bar works. I know how it works! I use my computer everyday. The scroll bar is simply not there in the Messaging part of the site. Therefore, you cannot scroll down to view additional messages, and you can’t scroll down on the active message to read the entire message. There simply is no scroll bar! On top of that is has very few features that it should at this price. When trying to post a job, you only have a minimal amount of preferences (has own car, non smoker, and something else). Reviewed on 5/3/18 6:23 PMI’m 15 years old so there was not very many options as far as caregiving websites, considering the majority of them required users to be 18 years or older, so I decided to give Care.com a try. In the beginning, I loved it. I had all of my account set up just the way I wanted, and had already recognized a few different jobs that I was interested in. After a couple days of waiting, I heard from someone whom I had not applied to. I was glad to hear from an owner looking for help, but as I was about to schedule a phone call interview, their account had been suspended. I figured that it was a violation of their account that got them suspended, so I continued looking and moved on from that owner. I decided it was time to apply for some jobs, but then i ran across a problem. Apparently, you are required to pay Care.com for credits, if you don’t, you cannot apply for a job nor care you reply to messages. I did not particularly agree with this requirement, because I was trying to get a job, not pay someone else for theirs. I decided to uninstall the app, and continue looking for different jobs. Today, I received an email from Care.com saying I had a new message (I had forgot to actually shut down my entire account), so I decided to log back in and close it down. Before shutting down my account, I looked at 3 different messages i had received, all stating their name was Mariana moving from Florida, but each was a different account claiming there name was different from what their message had said. This reminded me of the previous message from the account that had been suspended, and I realized they had claimed their name was Mariana too and that they were supposedly moving from Florida as well. I looked at other reviews saying that they believed Care.com was a scam that sent fake messages to try and get you to pay to reply, and from my experience I would agree. Not only was this an odd experience, but it was also rather frightening. Hearing from 4 different accounts claiming they all had the same story makes you wonder who really was behind the screen!

The least care could do is support us. I’ve had scammers contact me. I’ve babysat for parents who stated they’d pay a certain amount but end up paying significantly less. Also there are MANY adds from parents offering LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE! And care has banned sitters for informing those parents! Do not use this if you are a sitter or a professional nanny. I recommend using a local Facebook group. I’ve found unicorn family’s locally but nothing but risking, lying families on care. Best of luck sitters.

But when I click to read reviews, only 4 reviews come up, all with 5 stars only. There is missing information and a big gap between 5 stars and 3 1/3 stars. Reviewed on 5/23/18 12:20 PMWe have used this service to hire babysitters for the last 11 years. The Care.com service is quite useful for finding our sitters. However the app and web site makes it difficult to sort applicants for your jobs. This should work more like a standard email and texting app, instead they display a lot of messages as a stream of consciousness with mixing my 52 applicants all together. They have little ability to sort, take notes on or rate applicants for personal review. On several occasions, we have mistaken one applicant for another because the messages seem to get mixed up between different applicants. Furthermore, you need to use the app to make phone calls for you because you can’t share phone numbers between sitters and yourself. I wish I could find a service that was as useful as Care.com that cared about the paying customers needs instead of constantly adding barriers to usefulness with their technology.

Paid for a month to see if anything has improved with this site regarding pet services like dogsitting, after I was a paid member early last year. Nothing has changed, it’s just as bad as before, dumbfounding. Job offers are fake, I often see poster names elsewhere doing a broad Google search for specific jobs and recognize descriptions, and more importantly I constantly get fake work requests for a phone meeting from someone supposedly from another state who is moving soon to my area and wants me to email and/or call them with my info to start working.. ludicrous and Nigerian Prince spam-esque. Its clear my personal data is compromised and exploited. On the first day after putting up a thoughtful profile was bombarded with phishing replies for these non existent jobs, after a few days was fed up and took time out to report each and send Care an concise, polite but detailed email about my grievances and suggestions how to improve things. Also a mention I feel ripped off and wanted a refund. Took them 3 days to reply and all I got was a wishy washy apology and that they’ll try to kick off fake accounts doing the spamming. If they vetted people better that wouldn’t be necessary. Apparently anyone anywhere can create an acct and contact others- which means info about you, your pet or child are exposed. I know I’ll never get my refund so I won’t press for it and nothing will change anytime soon with fake offers or spammers because Care makes too much money to bother. I urge people to avoid this company, or at minimum do NOT become a paid member or fall for paying for their add on services.

This app claims they have a free, basic version, but I quickly discovered this app is unusable unless you pay a high monthly fee. So basically you create a listing (if looking for care) OR you put in application to a listed job (if looking to be hired). That is what you can do for free. Once an application is received, neither party can chat or accept a job unless one side of the transaction pays for premium. So in my case of looking for someone to watch my cats, I cannot hire the people who have applied because neither of us pay. I am definitely not paying for this because you force me into it. I will take my business elsewhere. If you had made it where I could chat and hire my first job free as a trial and have me gain trust, then I would consider a subscription. Reconsider your greedy priorities and monetize your business in a way that doesn’t s**** your customers over. Hire UX designers or something because this current model is absolutely TERRIBLE.

For example: I’ve accidentally closed my job posting twice because I clicked the wrong button and the only way out closed the job. The list of applicants is not in any particular order. It refreshes and reorders 5-7 times each time you access the list. It takes so long to find the info I need that I avoid using it until absolutely necessary.

Reviewed on 4/22/18 7:27 PMI joined care.com 12 years ago. Over the years, there have been things I’ve hated about the service, but I’ve dealt with them. No more. This is totally a scam now. As a caregiver, I can’t apply for jobs without paying a monthly fee. ($25 if I want one month, less if I’m willing to pay for 3 or 6 months — why would I use a job service that isn’t going to get me a job for 3 or 6 months?!) Paying money didn’t do me any good. Every single job I applied for had 50+ people I was up against and I heard back from no one (though care.com was kind enough to inform me that all of my emails have been read). I don’t know if it’s because the parents aren’t interested or if they’re also being subjected to insane prices just to respond to applicants. All I know is I’ve been a nanny for 14 years. It’s never taken me more than 3 applications to get a response back and I’m valuable enough that I usually end up being able to choose from multiple jobs at the end of the interview process. But now I’m not even getting an email back? I know it’s not the quality of my email. Using other services, I’ve gotten replies from every family I’ve reached out to. But I haven’t even gotten a response to the email that was sent to me, let alone a single one from any of the dozens of jobs I applied to on care.com. This site has gone down hill fast and I have gone from cautioning people about using it to I will never, ever, suggest anyone use it anymore.

I want to be a school counselor when I finish grad school and I figured what better way to get a job and a bit of experience working with kids than to be a nanny, right? So I downloaded the app thinking that I’d land a babysitting gig by the time the semester ended and both of the people who contacted me turned out to be either a scam or there was some other reason that their profile was taken down (arrested, underage, being a catfish). So my advice to all the young women out there using this app, don’t. Delete your profile and use Craigslist or just talk to your neighbors because this site is shady. I’d rather everyone be safe than to go to a sketchy babysitting gig and wind up getting hurt because of some sack of sh*t using the site to lure girls to their residence with the promise of $250 for the week and a puppy. I will say they’re pretty good about catching scams and they’ll tell you when they’ve removed someone from the site, but I’ve been contacted by scammers twice now and that’s the only contact I’ve had with anyone on the platform.

Reviewed on 4/15/18 8:41 PMI really needed this site because I have a household of varying schedules. This site is not good for booking last minute childcare. You need at least 72 hours to find a suitable sitter and you really can’t book for less than $15/hr. Many times I post a job and multiple sitters apply and I find one I like and “book” them and attempt to schedule an interview and they never confirm soooo you ended up scrambling for another sitter. You do have many sitters who apply for the job with less than desirable ratings, or none at all which makes it difficult to vet the personality of a sitter. Because of this I always try to schedule an interview but almost nobody has updated availability! Also, it’s $200 to use the site and they charge fees on top of every job that you pay through the site. So finding care for an 8 hour work day is $120 plus approx another $20 in fees!

CareChat .. 99% of your paying users HATE IT. Give us options. Don’t force CareChat upon those 99% who dislike it. READ ALL THE NEGATIVE COMNENTS ON CARECHAT - ON YOUR DISCUSSION BOARDS !!! ‼️‼️‼️‼️😴 Also... Takes a long time for client reviews to show up. When a client posts a review, it can take many days before it shows up on your profile. Also, with CarePro status, takes many days after you qualify before it shows up. If you respond to a voice message with a phone call (not via a text message) you will be penalized -- and you can lose your carepro designation. You MUST always respond with a TEXT message (within the system) to anything that you have received. Your voice response to a voice call request does NOT count. This is a BUG in their system. When you respond to a voice LINK with a voice CALL it should qualify as a response, it should not require another extra text response. Lost my carepro status for a week because of this problem. One more new problem with iOS 11, on iPhones it is very very very difficult to edit your text responses with him this system. It makes it almost impossible to write a text response because the EDITING capability is very very bad! Also, if you type a response, it sometimes gets flagged with erroneous characters, and it is impossible to edit and fix that problem. This is a very inconvenient system to use. This is what I'm giving the one star rating. Updated. 11/10/17. 01/09/18.

Reviewed on 4/11/18 5:25 AMHonestly this is a horrible app.
