I literally can’t use the app on my phone. Everytime that I download it and try to open the app, after two seconds it goes to a black screen and then the app closes by itself. It’s really annoying because I always need to go on the website. With the app everything would be much easier.

I don’t always receive notifications when I get a new message, and almost every care candidate I have attempted to contact has the exact same issue. There’s not much point in paying for this site when you can’t ever get in touch with someone when you actually need them.
Meganpro's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/5/18 1:21 AM
I contracted three sitters who wore apparently invested in my job posting. Never heard back from them. Didn’t find a sitter and now $39.99 for the first month and was automatically renewed for the second month! Care.com will not return the second month even though I have not found a sitter! Scam!

Kayla2581's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/4/18 2:04 AM
Unfortunately, this app and service could be great. However, they block all of your messages besides 1-2 unless you pay for their membership. The membership isn’t cheap. You’re looking at $40 plus to use it. So basically, you post a job and see a ton of responses but care.com blurs it all out unless you pay. I was/am in serious need of full time reliable care and I can see 6 people I’d be interested in speaking to but I can’t. I will never recommend care.com to anyone looking for childcare.

allthewildponies's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/28/18 2:39 PM
The site is a great tool for finding home health aides provided you conduct requisite vetting through background checks and are mindful of how you write your ad. Being direct, honest and forthright in what you seek for care helps reveal those best suited for your needs. Transparency on your part helps establish a modicum of trust and openness with applicants - in this way you are better able to quickly determine the best match on both sides of the equation. This site is a tool to help facilitate your needs and help employ some fine applicants that can become a valued member of your health care team. It is integral to make sure those you are interviewing have references and are willing to allow a background check. A special note is that it is important to consider older employees as they often are overlooked in mainstream companies - sadly, their experience, strength and wisdom is overlooked in favor of younger counterparts - both are valuable of course.

A NJ Mom in BC's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/26/18 10:26 PM
Responses and lack of follow through from applicants have been unprofessional and disappointing. Thankfully there is an option to purchase background checks including driving records of applicants. One applicant wanted the job but her driving record was unsafe and I can’t possibly put my baby in her car. Before I ran the check, I asked her if there would be anything in the report and she said “only a fender bender”. Liar. She had points for careless driving and accidents. That’s not someone who will go near my child. So I paid over $300 for Care.com just to find these loser applicants.
ndjsjsktjdj's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/25/18 8:47 PM
It is near next to impossible to cancel your subscription. They don’t tell you to go through iTunes to cancel and “downgrading” on their app will do nothing for a monthly recurring charge. We did find a nanny with the app, but their shady practices makes me give them a 1

RMKPeachy's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/24/18 3:58 AM
This is an absolute waste of money. Both parties must pay a monthly or annual fee to be able to respond to job inquires. It’s not worth the money you are required to fork out to get hired. Care.com blocks messaging, phone numbers any personal info you send by message so you the employee end up looking unprofessional and unreliable. I feel so bad for those who paid on their end but never get a response. I personally wouldn’t pay the fee and will never use the app. R. Keene - Benson AZ
LookingInPhx's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/24/18 2:28 PM
I am trying to renew with Care.com. What a frustrating experience!!! The app has little green adjective next to caregivers, but will not define what they mean, like “premium" or the other symbols next to caregivers' names. The app does not allow me to see ALL ratings for a caregiver. For instance, 1 person is showing 3 1/3 starts over 8 ratings. But when I click to read reviews, only 4 reviews come up, all with 5 stars only. Good luck finding a phone number for customer service; they don’t want to talk to you. Good luck finding the meaning of a “Basic” versus “premium” and what benefits each gives you. Last time I signed up, a credit card was as good as cash; now, Care.com forces you to authorize in-app purchase and subscribe monthly through Apple’s App Store. What a nightmare! I really hate this app.
no1034583's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/23/18 9:16 PM
Can’t see their available hours. I sent message to 30 people but only 4 response. You can’t see if they are already hired. I am glad I didn’t purchase for 3 months.
Thatchman2's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/22/18 7:21 PM
They spent a lot on this confusing, cluttered, and counterintuitive app. On top of that, the background check buttons are misleading, e.g., you can’t purchase a standalone driving check even though there is a separate button for it. A lot of responses to job postings seem to be bots with fake profiles designed to make it look as if there are more human applicants than there truly are. You can’t view background checks you’ve paid for in the app, only on the browser. Lastly, care.com is overly intrusive, trying to insert itself in every aspect of your dealing with prospective childcare. It makes you want to cut and run ASAP.

Was excited when I downloaded it, but turned out to be a huge disappointment. My wife and I need to find a babysitter after my in-laws left. But after paying for membership and background check, I spent one month and still didn’t accomplish anything. Never got the background check to work. The guidelines for job posting and profile are not helpful. For example, I posted a picture of my baby with a Saints jersey and got rejected. Checked the guideline and didn’t find anything. Called the customer service and they said the name on the jersey, which is “BREES” is not matching my baby’s name. Luckily, I only tried for one month. Definitely do not recommend this AT ALL.

Trying to get a caregiver through this app is a waste of time
dylan baby's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/20/18 2:33 AM
In theory this app and service is great, but the reality is it is expensive, and half of the people who respond to your job postings aren’t available for the actual job, or just don’t show up. I have managed to find several care givers through the app (2 total, but I probably messaged back and forth with between 10-20 just to get to that point). It was stressful and time consuming. The app itself works pretty well, and is fairly easy to navigate, but it isn’t clear when posting jobs how to indicate what date/time the job is for (my recommendation is to put it prominently in the TITLE of the job posting, otherwise people who are not even available for that day or time will reply to the job posting!) My other major complaint is the majority of people who respond to your job posts have no intention of following through, and although they initially seem interested just totally flake out! I wish they could vet the caregivers a little more thoroughly.
Summerspice99's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/20/18 2:16 AM
It’s ridiculous that nannies such as myself, Should have to pay to contact families. It’s hard enough to find a nanny job to help support my family, Having to pay the amount a month to find a job is absurd. Care should make it free to nannies and the families should only have to pay for it.
PuppyFarms's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/20/18 12:51 PM
First hire never showed. Second hire - complete scam - took the cash and ran. Third hire - was supposed to be two people for two days. Close to a complete scam - did about 4 hours of work but charged for 28 hours. Fourth hire - finally someone who actually cleans like she promised. Joan Gets five stars for excellent house cleaning work at a reasonable rate. Care.com only gets 1 star because I have hired 4 people before finding one who doesn’t lie or steal. Thank God for Joan - I was desperate for a good house keeper and I think I finally found one.

I signed up for care.com to help find a pet sitter and eventually a babysitter. The app works fine and I have no complaints but the service is terrible. I get inundated with unqualified applicants and they don’t bother to read the actual job posting. Everyone gives you a generic response. Lisa worked with our family for three years. My mother-in-law needed assistance at 88 years. Ms Herring was a southern gentile, complicated and demanding lady and Lisa handled her with great care and compassion. She calmed her moods and truly brought a "fresh" prospective to every day. She was responsible for medical appointments and, anything that was needed at any time. Trust was built very early and it eased our minds a great deal. We had been through four others before we found Lisa. She is a gem. Highly recommend her. Would hope she could take care of us when we reach that age

I’ve used Care.com since 2011, it’s far from perfect, but it’s an invaluable resource in finding good, trustworthy, caring caregivers. There are a myriad of people in this world, using Care.com, ones good judgement, and the background checks .... increases the chances of “happily ever after” ... well, at least an more happy moments, help with responsibilities, and hopefully: shared joy and laughter in this often chaotic journey we call life 💗

I desperately need a good nanny. I got a lot of applications but it was 40$ to access them for a month and over 300$ to get a background check. When I chose to pay for a month I assumed this meant 1 month and not a subscription. I’m now out 80$ and no nanny. I reached out to customer service and they politely told me “tough luck” “call iTunes” so frustrating. Will be using urban sitter or Facebook from now on. Better value for exact same service. Boo.

I normally never write poor reviews but this is such a scam! You have to pay to even view the messages you receive. Not only that, but I failed to read the fine print which is my fault, but they advertise the price as $13.99 a month and then charged my account for $159.99. I had no idea and it definitely was not made clear AT ALL that they would charge you for 12 months all at once. I had high hopes for this but it definitely did not meet any expectations I had.

This used to be great and simple! Now, there’s glitches and links that go no where, and things that don’t make sense. The user friendliness has gone down a few notches. Also, the app keeps alerting me to upgrade upgrade upgrade - and I can’t message someone or reply until I click the red banner and then exit out of the upgrade window. Then I can return to messages and write and send. This is so annoying and ridiculous sales/marketing/developing! Please change it so we can message without the Ad. Thank you. I used to use this app A LOT at the beginning of college to get jobs here and there. After recently graduating from college I decided to use the app again to find a more permanent type of job. What the app does NOT tell you is that they expect you to pay $45 for a background check. Which will expire after a few months, at which point you have to reapply for a new background check. Then once you start to send out messages out to families you have to spend yet MORE MONEY by subscribing to their app, just to see your responses. This is ridiculous and their subscription is $18 a month for the basic package. Which is really expensive for some people. This used to be a fantastic app/ company. However, they seem to have changed their values and only care about making money. I’m deleting this app and I’m not coming back.

Soarhigher4's Review of CarecomReviewed on 9/1/18 1:29 AM
Horrible app and horrible customer service. The account auto renewed for a quarterly membership when I don’t want the service anymore. They can’t refund me a portion of the 3 month membership either. Even when I noted that I do t want the auto renewal with days of it occurring. Most importantly, it’s impossible to find a sitter or nanny on this platform. I invested so much time contacting prospects. These “applicants” almost seem like fake accounts. One moment, they’re interested in the job and literally two seconds later, their schedule changed, are no longer available or can no longer talk on the phone. Done with this!
Saraaaaduh's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/9/18 7:50 PM
You can’t do ANYTHING on this app unless you purchase a membership. No job applications, no messages, can’t receive messages, etc. This app used to be the best way for me to find nanny jobs and now they’ve completely lost me as a user. The price is too high, and watch out because they continue to bill you monthly beyond your initial payment! Then their customer service is terrible when you call for help. As far as the security checks for sitters, I find more accurate info from checking the state government public information website - thanks to this app I nearly hired a convicted larcenist who checked out clean on the app’s security check. Sitters who advertise have no accountability. Over the years I have consistently fond that for the few who actually respond to my ads or requests, I have a 50% chance that they’ll actually be truthful about the times, rates, or services that they advertise. Moreover I have a 50/50 record for them actually showing up to an interview after scheduling - of course that could be due to poor work ethic as well. I’ve been stood up for countless interviews and for actual jobs as well. Even though it seems like this app should be a good idea, for all the trouble...and for the potential rip off...you’re better off trying a local Facebook nanny search page or even craigslist and checking references carefully - at least it’s cheaper!

I have enjoyed being able to go through and select appropriate caretakers for my needs, set up interviews, ask for background checks, etc. It is a little pricey, and you have to be a paid member to even really use the site effectively, and I don’t care for the fact that each individual task costs extra... but in the name of safety, I suppose no cost should be too large... not that it wouldn’t be nice to not have to shell out an arm and a leg before you even have a person to care for your child....

I’m not willing to pay to apply for jobs or talk to potential employers when there’s no guarantee I’ll find something, and a lot of times when I pursue a position I just NEVER hear back. We’ve used care.com for over 5 years to care for our dogs while away. We’ve attempted using local fb groups & family since moving back home but care.com is where it’s at. We have loved 100% of the people we’ve hired. We do it in 3 steps #1 - post the job #2 - look for people who sound like a perfect fit #3 - interview 3-5 people to find the one we’re looking for + introduce them to our babies.

Through care.com, I have had the luck to obtain wonderful nanny positions with two different families. I left my former profession and became a nanny in 2013. Since then I’ve had steady, reliable employment close to my home. Other types of jobs are also available, from pet care to senior care to housekeeping. I’ve also had good experiences with care.com customer service! If you’re seeking a domestic service type job, care.com is a great choice.

I have found care.com to be a great site for job opportunities. I have been using the site since 2008 as a care taker looking for families who need a consistent nanny to take care of their children. Over the last 10 years I have found 4 families to work for each lasting at least a year and some longer. If you have good credentials you will have no problem finding work. Jennie

This app is horrible and a scam It has you make a profile and put all your information on it Just to not tell you that they will NOT let you look at any messages from anyone unless you pay $40 + dollars (consistently) Don’t waste your time or money!
Dustbuster42's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/28/18 4:32 PM
You know. 12 bucks a month is fine. But you’re required to pay for a year. The $40 bucks for 1 month is not okay. You can’t use half the functionality and it’s pretty frustrating. We need a sitter for before and after care. And I’ve had several applicants but I can’t do anything with it. So c’mon care dot com! $40 a month is just too much!
natalieb22's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/28/18 3:54 PM
I recently signed up for a year membership for Care.com and have been extremely frustrated ever since. I have not been able to use their services at all because their website and app are so poorly done. I tried sending messages to caregivers on two separate iPads (one old and one new) and on my iPhone (also new and updated). The next day my messages were gone like they had never been there. The message screen on the app never would load at all. I asked for a refund but unless you are willing to be on hold for hours you won’t get through. They finally emailed me and gave me a bunch of trouble shooting things to try, none of which are applicable because they assumed I was on a normal computer. They also said they would not give me a refund. So there goes $170 for absolutely nothing. Do not waste your time with this company!

someone told me they hired their personal assistant from care so i decided to apply since i have been looking for a new client to PA for. unfortunately all I have been getting are child care offers, although I understand this is the majority of the sites users I wish there was a way to seek out specifically what I'm looking for as I'm not looking to be a nanny of sorts. also, the website could use some interface updates and be more streamlined for editing your profile and calendar and what not. ALSO, i spent money on a month membership because i was told id get the free driver report except when i apply for it, it says the state i'm in won't let me which we should be told before we pay the money.

I was in the middle of interviewing nannies. I found a promising nanny. We arranged a meeting and I ordered her background check. The app blocked my text messages to her. How does this app affect my phone?!? The next day she said she already took a job the day she was supposed to start. I told the nanny (marypoppinsofoc) that was inconsiderate. She had me kicked off the site before I could give her a negative review! THEN, the app just cancels my subscription because this young lady thought that was reportable. No investigation, just cancels me when I’m in a crunch. AND tells everyone you’re interviewing that you’ve been kicked off the site. Very poor business model. I hope there is a big defamation lawsuit someday.
Jsajanelle's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/27/18 6:06 PM
Nannies and Caregivers should be allowed to rate families who are interested in hiring us and also, families who have hired or contacted us for employment. A lot of families on this app tend to not understand the fact that many people utilize this app as a direct source of income. And so, these families having already contacted and requested a sitter for a time and day, after knowing that us, nannies, have already made timely arrangements and adjustments to our schedules, will cancel set employment times an hour to a couple of hours before the babysitting would have commenced. Multiple families have let me go, without giving me a days or weeks notice, on the day of babysitting, and a lot will not confirm or respond in a timely manner the same as I do. So, Care.com should figure out a way us, caregivers, can rate families the way families rate us, just so they can be kept in check and molded into responsible employers because as of right now, most families using care.com are not responsible employers.

Hijessicamyers's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/25/18 7:07 AM
This service is pathetic, I was thinking I found a tool to make my already difficult life as a single mother, just a little easier by assisting me in finding a nanny / sitter for my newborn. I spent time typing out my ad and putting in all my information and photos and then after checking my messages, it tells me I have to PAY to communicate with these people that have reached out to me. And I don’t just mean maybe a one time small fee, THEYRE ASKING FOR $40 MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP. Outrageous. Childcare is already expensive and unaffordable for most single parents in the country, this company Care.com is trying to lead an example that people should be forced to spend more to have decent care for their children so THEY CAN GO TO WORK. I would understand charging a small fee for a “premium account” where you can get background checks and access to profiles of high rated members and driving records. But just for essentially classifieds for babysitters trying to make a small living? Disgusting.

I used care.com a few years ago to get a job out of college and it was easy to use and didn’t charge you for everything you do on their page. I tried to sign up again recently and it was MUCH more complicated to use, they charge you with every little move you make, like just to be “featured” you have to pay at least $25 a month, and it’s near IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCLE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION! Also online it says when you call you’ll be able to talk to a person but it was a recorded message only. I am very disappointed with the updates they have made. Seems like greed and laziness has completely taken over this company. Will never use again.

Every time I try and message someone, it says the account has been closed. They are all open, they just messaged me 30 minutes ago. It takes 4-5 tries to open a message as well. Fix the glitches and this might be a worthwhile app.
Lordofqueef's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/22/18 4:58 PM
Your ‘refine’ section needs to include the time of the day a caregiver is looking to work. The most strenuous thing I do on the app is look at potential client’s schedules and hope they sync with mine. I’m less concerned with how much they’re willing to pay or how many kids there are if they want mornings and I can only work nights! For example: users have the option to refine their search to Between 5pm & 12am. Please fix this. The keyword option sometimes filters out jobs that actually fit into my needs.
Ppppppppppppppppptthgg's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/21/18 3:29 PM
The app is ok, but the pool of candidates is spotty at best. 90% don't return emails and the ones that do, typically don’t read the job description and aren’t a good fit. I’m not sure what type of advice care.com gives to candidates or what qualifications they have, but there needs to be a better process.

I love that this platform exists and love the concept of putting me in contact with several people that serve in these various capacities. However what I hate is when you post a job and the candidates respond without reading the job post, or they do not qualify for the job, or they send you a generic message that is just a duplicate of what it says on their profile page. Maybe I just have not met the right types of providers on this site but it has been VERY hard. Almost impossible to hire someone. The frustration of the process can be too much particularly when you NEED the help and there are no adequate responses.
Sunfleur84's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/2/18 3:55 AM
Unfortunately finding babysitters is very challenging .. the first time I posted a job I had 65 applicants which was way too many .. second time I posted a job I only had 6 to choose from .. and of course you have some sitters that aren’t a good fit and others that are amazing.. and sometimes you can set up an interview and have a no call /no show .
Tricia Helwig's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/2/18 3:51 PM
The app was a bit confusing to use and the people who initially responded to my add flakes out when I would try to setup a time for them to meet my daughter. (Sorry, I’m not going to hire a complete stranger without a face to face meeting first.). I even informed those that looked good on paper that I would pay them their going rate! Needless to say, I’m still without a sitter.
spotty287's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/19/18 2:22 PM
They’ll delete your account because they want your home address publicly visible, ignoring your privacy rights. This does not work for home based businesses that provide services at a customers location only. If the customer never goes to the businesses home, we should be allowed to not display our home address like you can on Google, Yelp, Yellow Pages, and many other professional websites.
Kateiiii's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/19/18 1:52 AM
I saw that the post was free so decided to try it. It asked for a picture of my family and then rejected it but didn’t say ey. Just said to look at their guidelines which was hyperlinked in the email. When I clicked the link it just took me to the app. No guidelines. After some time of searching I found it but it wasn’t any help. I couldn’t figure out what rule it didn’t like. Even without a picture we got a response. I emailed the applicant about a time to interview. However when I got the second notice of an applicant it wouldn’t even let me see her profile without paying $40 and blocked me from sending any other email. So even though the post is free you can’t do anything after you post. Not wanting them to think I was ignoring them I paid the money but I will never use the service again and certainly don’t recommend it. There are other ways to find reliable help.

This app has always been glitchy and just when you thought it couldn’t get worse.... it does! I’m not going to pay to upgrade anything on this site. While I have gotten customers, they have either stiffed me the cash owed or been scammers.... Oh the scammers!!!! There’s no way of letting them know or they don’t seem to care. The few good customers I obtained from this app have told me that the scammers are in both sides so they deal with it too. I can’t even send a personalized message without being asked for more money. Like everyone else’s apps... this app is just as money hungry as the rest and until they prove themselves they aren’t getting a dime from me. Oh and developers seem to answer only to the few good comments on here.

I did the background check and it came back fine except for one thing about a speeding ticket. Apparently you are supposed to respond to an email they sent asking about your background check but they never sent me the email or the email asking if I got the first one. Since I never got the email I never responded and they terminated my account. I’ve emailed them multiple times about it and they keep telling me it’s my fault. Whenever I ask them how it’s my fault when they never sent the email I don’t get a response. 1. They won’t up to the fact they messed up. 2. I should be able to get my account back because I’m no the one who messed up.

I signed up for the service with the intent to cancel The premium service once I got the help I needed. Care.com will not allow you to cancel nor will it allow you to downgrade. There are no options to do this. There is a window that will take you there but it does not actually downgrade- computer or cell phone and I have been trying for one month. It was awful trying to find the customer service number to speak with someone about canceling the service. Not a user friendly site & what a scam to keep charging people who can’t cancel!

I have to agree with all of the negative ratings! Care went downhill quickly. I had it for years. I started my first nanny job from it back in 2010 and got a few more after that, but in the last couple years it’s not been going well. You have to pay just to reply to a message or to unlock stuff. It used to be free at least on my end LOOKING for a job. Why would I pay to find a job.. honestly lucky enough it’s all about word of mouth now, so I’m working, but I liked being able to have more clients and now I can’t get any new ones. Maybe I’ll try sitter city or something like that.

chelseawhorley's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/15/18 12:47 PM
I have had a care.com profile for years and maybe found one child to take care of part time. This app and website are not user friendly and apparently do not really “connect” caregivers to care seekers unless you are willing to shell out the money. And even then you still may not be able to find anyone. I have applied for job after job after job and rarely get any reply back. I doubt when I apply the people looking for care actually receive my message/application. They don’t pass along messages unless you pay even though parts of the service may be “free”. It is very difficult to get peoples contact information when they block out “phone numbers” and “emails”. Don’t waste your time word of mouth and references from people are the best way to go not paying for this service that doesn’t really connect you to caregivers and care seekers in the first place.

You will find good and bad everywhere but this Company wants you to believe they have the high standards “they don’t” Craig’s list is free and you can call most people directly. Ask for a few references you’ll be good. Going to someone’s house tells u a lot more about their, in home childcare than what ever BS these guys want u to believe.

I have been on Care.com for the past five months trying to find care for my family, with no success I might add. It’s very expensive to keep paying every month when there aren’t very qualified people to provide the care you need. Also, many of the profiles never respond to Your job posting or if you message them directly. Either the app isn’t allowing them to respond or the people on Care.com are extremely unprofessional. I interviewed many nanny’s for my job posting and a lot canceled last minute or were very late or didn’t respond all together after agreeing to an interview time! Very disappointing to have wasted five months
JessHZTexas's Review of CarecomReviewed on 8/13/18 7:18 PM
Be VERY careful if you use this service, especially when you try to unsubscribe. This company thrives on trickery and vagueness. You are seemingly able to join and communicate with nannies without upgrading to a premium membership, but you’ll soon find out you can’t message caregivers unless you pay for the premium package. Shady, but whatever. But then when you need to cancel your subscription they make it near-impossible to do so. If you write to them for assistance with canceling they will either send you unhelpful form letter responses or direct you to another party for assistance (like iTunes) telling you that they are unable to help you cancel your account. Additionally they auto-renew your membership and only alert you to this in the very fine print, so many people don’t realize that signing up for a specific amount of time is actually a lifetime membership. They do not send you alerts when they are charging your card again and again. Honestly I’m shocked someone hasn’t sued them yet and I think they take advantage of the fact that we are all moms/dads of babies and don’t have time to follow-up every single day just to cancel our subscription or that we won’t notice that we are being charged for a service we no longer want or need.

Angela was a godsend. A disabled veteran friend of mine who lived alone was in horrible living condition. So much so it was a health hazard. I reached out to Angela and informed her if how bad the conditions were and she accepted the job without hesitation. She came in and cleaned the Mobil home from top to bottom. She literally got on her hands and knees to scrub the carpets. The home was spotless when she finished. The veteran and his family were so pleased with her service that they continue to this day to have her come one a week and clean. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I have used this app for three years now and have secured good positions but the new changes and the control of messages has me sad and at times very frustrated. In trying to improve the app, care.com has really over corrected. I have heard so many complaints from employers and us the employees. Put the app back the way it was. Save your money on the web advisors and stop scalping us. You had a good thing going. Have you ever heard, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. I gave you five stars because of the positions I have found but Zero Stars for the website that now barely works. Sorry, you asked, I gave my experience. And did I mention that we are charged more now and if we have a problem we can’t even call Customer Service anymore, we have to email......That’s convenient?

We’ve used care.com for everything from house cleaners and dog sitters to our beloved nanny and date night sitters. Love the usability and great people.
majfbskvsdf's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/9/18 6:54 PM
I like care.com in general to find jobs however, the app is full of bugs that make it so frustrating to navigate. I just updated my whole profile including availability times, series I provide, my address, etc. and then all of a sudden the app just malfunctions and I lose all of my updated information (which I just spent the last 20 minutes updating). Maybe I’ll just try another service.
bebettercare.com's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/9/18 5:30 PM
Care needs to address the vast number of listed caregivers that have not updated their profile in months and even years. I have wasted way to much time reaching out to people who are no longer interested in being caregivers any longer, those that haven’t updated their profiles and those that do not respond to messages.

This app use to be completely free and it was so great for a babysitter to find a job. Now you can message them once to apply but once they message back you have to pay to see their message and get the job! This is ridiculous and I can’t believe they ruined their site this way. Do not get this app.
Spydog87's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/9/18 3:00 PM
I suggest anyone who wants to use this site and app find another way for your childcare needs. Total scam and ripoff. I signed up for service on Friday 7/6/18 by 7/8/18 I received an email stating my account had been terminated. I called and no reason given for termination. I asked the customer service person to tell me what I did or didn’t do or what I should have not have done...NOTHING. I was told my money had been refunded. I will check my account in a day or so to see if the refund shows up. I asked to cancel the subscription as I don’t want to be charged any amount this day forward. I was assured it had been canceled. I am not in dire straits for childcare but for people who are and this happens I feel for them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I’m not happy. They never respond and it’s never easy to cancel the reoccurring payments that I did NOT sign up for. I only did one month and yet there are 4 months already deducted. This is not a trustworthy company. READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD. And know that the monthly ones will still come out the months after unless you’re lucky enough to get a live person or an email back

I’ve been sitting here for days wondering why I’m not getting any replies, and it’s because YOU HAVE TO PAY A FEE IN ORDER FOR ANYONE TO RESPOND TO YOUR APPLICATION. I’m trying to make money, not spend insane amounts of it. This shit’s a joke.
BigGuyFletcher's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/7/18 6:12 PM
I used this app for one month while getting my twins a night nanny. I was careful to go in and cancel My subscription at the end of the month. I didn’t think or see another thing about it until 6 months later when I saw a reoccurring $40 bill with them. I realized they had gotten me. I went to cancel again and realized they had an ‘are you sure you want to cancel’ page that was confusing. I must have not clicked the right thing. I called support only to hear that I was not going to be able to get any of the $200 back. I hadn’t logged in for 5 months. No emails notifying me that I was being charged or paying for a service that wasn’t adding value to me. Nothing. It gets two stars only because it was fine for the month I used it.
bugg_12's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/7/18 6:05 AM
This app is so confusing!! I’m a sitter myself and I do not like it. I only got it because a parent asked if I can download it so she can do a background check. BUT i absolutely LOVE urban sitter! It is so easy to access families that need sitters and the customer service replies very quickly! I have met families that I work for a lot through urban sitter. So parents if you need a sitter go on that app! It’s easy and free!
T3nnisgal's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/7/18 4:28 PM
I remember when care.com was FREE. Now you have to pay as either the babysitter/nanny or the employer because you can’t message each other unless one of the parties has a subscription. This is pathetic and frustrating. I’d rather be shown ads than having to pay for premium.
ER Nurse 702's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/6/18 9:37 PM
Of 4 different sitter sites this was always my least favorite one. I do not like the software in which you contact/communicate with the sitters as well as the fact that I have yet to find a reputable sitter on this site. I have had much luck with another neighborhood sitting site and my neighbor finds more luck with the “city” app. For the price, I will never renew.
PandaLynn1's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/6/18 10:48 PM
Paid for the subscription, spent over a month applying for jobs as a ridiculously qualified and professional candidate. Care support is non existent, and I can’t believe I’m paying to find work. The rule of “If they’re asking you to pay to find work, it’s a scam” seems to be true here. Most of the job postings are bogus as most people don’t even view the applications that are sent in. Terrible experience and a month of job searching wasted.
DarthHuevos's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/5/18 6:03 PM
I am writing a review because we have gotten our subscription cancelled with no explanation and no instruction on reinstatement. My wife had three babysitters cancel on her in a row. She is also by herself two states away and I am in the military. She has three boys under five years old. She has her hands full. With this last babysitter she cancelled the day of saying she was sick. Today is the 5th of July, which we assumed was a hangover. The babysitter admitted to that then started to dispute how much she would have been paid and said my wife was “low balling” her. That is beyond the point. Now unless Care.com reverses its cancellation of us or they have lost a member and I will find what ever site that offers babysitting services to get our loyalty. Poor customer service if you don’t come through on this one. I will update my review if you come through, Care.com. 15 year active duty service member sends

DON’T sign up. I signed up looking for a last minute babysitter thinking I could find someone background checked. So I paid for 3 months which was like $65 dollars, AFTER I paid it tells me they want an additional fee of like $100 if I want to hire someone background checked. SO misleading! I emailed them asking for a refund and they said they don’t do refunds. I would never recommend this company. I had great luck with urban sitter, try them first...also, the first month there is free.

I love the work. Its great! Never had a single job complaint and I’ve done dozens of jobs thanks to the site. However every time they update the app they make it harder and more expensive for all of us. Every time the update the app, some feature, like sending personalized resumes to clients, what used to be a standard feature, you now have to pay for with the premium package every month. So while the site works as intended and a wonderful service: 1) Future and current clients: please understand why some of our prices seem high. We are being slowly forced into paying for features that use to come stanard. Its a monthly subscription. 2) Future emplyees: this can be expensive to maintain as a potential huring website/app. Thank you.

This site takes more work than just watching your kids yourself. They need to screen and remove caregivers that are no longer active, or require them to pay so as to get only serious job applicants. The site is becoming worthless due to no quality control. I would not recommend this to anyone. Seek an agency.

We’ve been using care.com for over a year. We’ve found a few short term helpers, but more often than not we end up finding help outside care.com. One source of frustration is applicants are constantly having their profiles disabled. I’m not sure if they are violating terms or something, but as a paid subscriber I should be able to interact with anyone on the site! It’s just honestly not worth the cost.
Beya's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/30/18 6:06 PM
I don’t understand why they have created a Caregiver app for Care.com when this app works fine. Yes there are some things you cannot do on it and a few glitches that can be worked out but the Caregiver app is HORRIBLE. I downloaded it and kept this one too and I receive ZERO notifications on the Caregiver app. It’s so pointless and it doesn’t offer any new features that I can see. What was the point?! Just fix the bugs in this app and be done with it. I’m giving this one 4 stars and the other 1 Star. I already contacted support which was useless cause they just told me to use the Caregiver app because: We created the new care provider app from listening to feedback from members just like you. This new app is only for care providers and is a more streamlined app to assist you in finding the perfect job. You do not need to create a new account, just download the app and log in using your current information. This was POINTLESS since it doesn’t work! Everyone is rating it low for a reason. Don’t fix what isn’t broke Care.com If you listened to your caregivers then you would just fix this app. It’s not like I can do things a family looking for a caregiver can do, so what was the whole point of this Caregiver app you created? To drop people’s response scores and upset families looking for last min care that us Caregivers will never hear about as we don’t get notified? Real smart!

1ms3xy's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/30/18 11:49 PM
New update blocks messages and forces people to pay $10-20 to message those who need help with errands even if their account is already made for a specific errand that they applied to someone for. For example, you are a pet caretaker and you message someone who needs help with walking their dog. In the past, you needed to pay in order to message others for a service different than the one your account was originally made for or if you wanted a carepro badge.

The care.com system seems not to be able to talk to each other. I will respond to messages on the app and then it shows that I didn’t respond if I log on in a web browser. It can be frustrating if you’re trying to communicate with new applicants and you aren’t sure if they’ve received messages.

As a provider, I love using care. As a single mom It’s a great way to get extra cash for both me and my child. I only do date nights and occasional sitting and its really helped my monthly income. It helps to pay the subscription for at least one or two months to find some new parents/clients, get your reviews up, and get your name out there (for your city) but once your profile starts to become more noticed you shouldn’t need to pay because people will be reaching out to you as opposed to you looking for them.!
Babower's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/29/18 8:10 PM
I posted ads looking for housekeepers. A few responded as applicants. But they do not show up for their appointments. Need better monitoring system of your members of job seekers. Otherwise, this web site would be useless and waste of money for those who look to hire helps. I paid for 3 months subscriptions. It is an overly charged app. If you need to look to hire a helper, just pay for one month. And even with its one month fee is overly high. So after using this app for 2-3 weeks, I would give it one star as out of all the applicants, I have only found one suitable and trustworthy enough. A lot of flakes on this site. Just be careful.

I told lots of people how handy Care.com was until I found out the outrageous “premium account” they signed me up for with automatic renewals. Although this is a widespread business model it’s still manipulative and sneaky. Beware of signing up at all. I know I won’t ever again. I tried to cancel and it was not immediate, (I had one more charge made) and they didn’t reimburse me for the charge that I caught a day or two after it was posted to my credit card. Never again with this company.

I was a babysitter on this site for about a year and a half. I saw a ad for a women that needed help watching her kid where she works and so I applied and I watched her kid for 6 hours at her work place. Then when i was about to leave the lady ask me if I could babysit her kid on Friday and she will pay me on Friday as well I said yeah that’s fine! So I texted her all week and I didn’t get a reply back until 30 mins before she was supposedly be dropped off her kid at my house she told me that she’s not paying me....So at that point I reported her to CARE.COM !!!!!! And care.com terminate my profile bc I told them she was a SCAMMER....... so now I don’t have a job and no money to pay bill because care.com simply DOESNT CARE about the people on their site .

I paid for a care.com 1 year membership and haven't had to use it since last September. I put an ad on a few days ago and now I can't view the responses because I have an iPhone 4S which doesn't support IOS 10 or higher so since you changed the app, I keep getting a message to download the update, but I can't because it can't be downloaded to my phone. The "Update" message is hiding the responses to my ad. I can't view them and I can't call those who have responded. I shouldn't have to buy a new phone to use the app. There is nothing wrong with my phone.

I created an account to become a babysitter for families and the website would only let me message one person. After that it blocked incoming messages unless I paid monthly, making it look like I was not answering. It also would not let me message anyone else. They should really put in the commercials that you need to pay in order for this app to actually be successful.
Katkat651's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/27/18 12:53 AM
Care wants you to spend money to use their app. Free at first and then all of sudden for potential customers to reply to you, you have to pay! Lastly, care.com is overly intrusive, trying to insert itself in every aspect of your dealing with prospective childcare. It makes you want to cut and run ASAP.

We have used Care.com multiple times to find nannies with success. We love that Care.com exists and continue to use it. The functionality both online and mobile are poor, however. There is poor integration between general messaging and messaging with applicants that I would like to see consolidated in messages, at a minimum. When in a candidate profile, I cannot see the same candidate information that I see in Search, such as the last login for that candidate, which indicates how actively the candidate is looking. Minor hinderances like these are why I scored the app poorly. In addition, alerts meant to help are not personalized or contextual, making them annoying. After having a posting for an afterschool nanny up for 10 days, I got an alert suggesting that I post for an afterschool nanny. Good idea, poor execution.

After using the free and loving it, I was willing to pay $20 (approx) per year for the premium. For Care.com you almost get nothing for the free...certainly not enough to see if you like the app. The cost of premium is ridiculous. I used Rover instead!

I am starting to get very frustrated with both the website and the app because I know for a fact that my previous employers have written reviews about me but they will not show up on my profile! Also when I went to approve my email, the website kept glitching saying that the information didn’t match. Another thing is that they want to charge you $20+ to get background checks in order to validate your profile while other websites do it for free by submitting a pic of your ID and a selfie that matches. It also keeps telling me I need to reply to messages to up my status which I have been doing but they don’t show up on my profile! Overall very frustrating and disappointed.

I’m and 18 year old trying to find a babysitting job in this app and when someone finally got in touch with me they told me to email them which I did then they told me to text them which I did and when we were texting I was getting the vibe that these people weren’t who they say they were and now I’ve been scammed $300!

This app definitely has its issues and I have paid more than I think I should have had to just to find a job but I have gotten lucky and the individuals who did contact me hired me so it’s all worked out. You definitely HAVE to pay in order to apply or message anyone. Also..... the CarePro is a joke! I have 3 reviews, have done EVERYTHING AND I’m still NOT A CAREPRO SO don’t waste your time!!! Good Luck to Everyone......

July 16, 3018 Update The app has been vastly improved but still very buggy. I’ve changed it from 1 star to 3 star. October 14, 3017 Review Honestly this is a horrible app. There are so many glitches I rather not use it at all. Where do I even begin. 1. The app is a battery hog I could see my battery draining every time I use it. 2. Some days the texting feature works great other times are such a lag that other person doesn’t see the message for hours. 3. The profile picture will load sometimes and other times you would have to back out of the screen and go back into the profile to see the picture. Sometimes you have to do this a couple times before you actually see a profile picture. 4. The idea of hiding your telephone number when texting is horrible. They should allow us to enable or disable that feature. It should be up to the user if they want to keep their telephone hidden or shown. Not up to the app. 5. Sometimes apple just freeze trying to load messages or to view peoples profile 6. Other times when you’re messaging multiple providers the app would show that you have an incoming message with a red dot. Sometimes it does not tell you who specifically sent a message and even after going through all the messages the red dot still does not disappear. 7. To make matters worse I get spam from many companies that provide nanny or childcare service syncing my business. There are plenty more bugs but I also don’t have that kind of time to list everything. Overall this is a very frustrating app. I’m sure I have lost several potential nanny for my kids because it either did not work correctly for me or the nanny.
Summerspice99's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/16/18 5:11 PM
It’s ridiculous that nannies such as myself, Should have to pay to contact families. It’s hard enough to find a nanny job to help support my family, Having to pay the amount a month to find a job is absurd. Care should make it free to nannies and the families should only have to pay for it.

FatBoyDev's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/16/18 1:32 PM
Not only does this cost a fortune to even try out the applicants available are slim to none! They should really at least let you try it out for free for a week so you know what you’re getting into before you hand over your hard earned money!! App claims to offer many other services besides babysitting, but it would be easier ( and free) to just look through the local classified ads and randomly pick a “baby sitter” ( that’s all you’re getting at care.com regardless) I’m also frustrated and angry that I spent so much money to just get to take a peek if there was anyone actually available to work for...me but no there isn’t. App does allow you to leave messages with applicants to see if they’d be interested in working for you, but again....that is something you can do yourself through the classifieds. Care.com is a cyst pool of people trapped trying to get/receive help and Care.com profiting for not! I feel like, as a consumer who is in need of service, I was completely taken advantage of! Come on, they charge a finders fee every single time you pay someone??? And that’s just one of the ways they love to charge you money! I hate to think the cut they take from the providers on their site!? Care.com is really all about them making money and nothing about providing a service...or should I say “Care”ing. Again...classifieds...for free!
Fun summer read's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/15/18 8:57 PM
I think the app is reasonably user friendly. Overall it’s organized well. I’m not crazy about the ad hoc manner in which the site hides phone numbers. In my opinion we’re all adults (or should be. Teens should not be permitted to advertise), and if we want to share phone numbers that should be our choice. I have had technical difficulties on more than one occasion where I couldn’t connect with someone because the tap phone feature was malfunctioning. I also think there should be a separate part of the site for those seeking long-term child care, as opposed to a casual babysitter. But perhaps my biggest gripe is not with the site itself from a technical perspective, but with its efficacy. I have at least 10 people who ignore my outreach efforts (after they responded to my add), or who don’t show up for a phone or in-person interview for every one person who responds and follows through. As a result, the process of finding a nanny or sitter is extremely time intensive, and the opposite of convenient, which surely the developers of the app intended. Of course you can’t blame care.com for that. But I do think that is an important component to share with anyone contemplating signing up for a membership.
Absolutbees's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/15/18 8:14 PM
No one responds and no one wants to work but they are sure to tell you what their rates are. Then when messaging it says This account is closed. I’ve found that senior home health is a horrible thing to have to go through. When you’re already stressed because of your loved ones health you have to deal with this! My advice is to just stick with interviewing companies face to face but be aware this behavior exists there too. Good luck!
Robbzcat's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/15/18 8:13 PM
This app is the worst, website horrible, horrible company. Unfortunately all the caregivers go to care.com so you’re kind of stuck with them. User interface is hard to use. App crashes all the time. They finally allow you to send a phone number to a potential caregiver - used to be you had to use their unworkable internal phone system. If you want to talk to a human at customer support - you can’t.

First person I interviews said she wanted the job but when I called her 2 days later she acted like she didn’t even know me!!!!! She wanted a job with more money when we discussed the payment and she was ok with at the interview!!!!! Another lady was very forceful when it came to getting an answer from me whether or not if I was going to hire her!!! She reminding me of a stalker!!!!! I don’t usually right reviews but I was very, very disappointed for the money you have to pay to even look at their profiles and then getting no good results!!!!! Thank you for your time!

Signed up... put my request out there needing a date night babysitter for my 2 kids... saw that I got a couple of applicants and THEN it tells me I have to pay to upgrade to even view the responses. The cost of their service is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion & they made it seem like you could still get in touch with people without paying, you just don’t get the background checks, etc. VERY MISLEADING. I’m pretty upset that I now can’t even respond to the applicants I have. Pretty unprofessional.

Overall I love this app! It goes way beyond the idea of finding a job. Care has so many necessary and useful tools for nannies, babysitters and families! They offer health and dental which can be super important! They also offer online payment services. The only thing I wish they had (if they do already I can’t figure it out) is an option If, you’ve found a job and don’t wish to be contacted by anyone, to somehow pause your account and be taken off the search list but still be able to accept your online payments.

Majority of my nearbys are waaay further away than what they actually are. Apparently it only takes 15 minutes to get somewhere that’s and hour and a half away 😂 I have to keep changing my zip code to areas around me to get something and even then some of em are they’re so so far away..
Really Unhappy Pinner's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/10/18 4:10 AM
The app is AWFUL. Crashes all the time. Won’t load messages. The app won’t let you put and end date on a job past 1.5 years like the desktop version does. It’s terrible. Not to mention the membership fee is so high. I’ve kept it up because I need to find a nanny and don’t want to peruse Craigslist, but my God they could really put some time and money into cleaning up their mobile app considering how much they charge for membership.
sjohar's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/10/18 2:05 AM
I have a love-hate relationship with this app. The usability of the app seems to be going backward 1. Care chat / call - the audio quality and ability ..both are severely lacking in maturity. It is so bad and it is an added pain when you need to talk to potential candidates. Firstly both parties need to have enable it. Secondly Most candidates provide their scrambled phone numbers. So whatever privacy this care call option is supposed is provide is moot. 2. Rating - this app triggers rating pop-ups. Your only option is either to not rate or give it 5 stars - VERY SELF SERVING 3. Hires - it encourages you to mark the person you hired without giving options to say you couldn’t hire and for what reason The app itself is a nightmare and it is quickly losing both potential candidates and potential employers. While 3.5 years ago I got good candidates ... I have been having a hard time to find someone suitable for various things in the last 2 years ...and I suspect one of the reason is the bad technology is either driving people away or somehow not being efficient in connecting both parties
artdjh210's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/10/18 11:25 PM
As a nanny I have used care.come to secure multiple jobs. Most recently I sent a handful of messages, went back to check for responses and was informed that I needed to pay for a “premium” membership in order for my messages to be read. It shouldn’t be called a “premium” membership when it provides the BASIC services that were provided to us previously at no charge. I am really frustrated with the service and I will not be continuing my job search here. I previously recommended this service to many families, now I will make sure to tell people it’s just a rip off.
milfamily's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/1/18 9:07 PM
Very convenient to use on a smart phone. My favorite feature was the notifications (versus the traditional website) BUT then we noticed that the messaging system doesn’t always tell you when someone messages you back (ie: we listed a job and 4 applicants responded to our messages but we had no idea)! Please fix this feature so families don’t leave messages/employees hanging unintentionally.
Namaste France's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/1/18 4:15 PM
It is a great app for finding a lot of nanny’s. But there are also a lot of upgrades to pay for, like background checks. It is also a controlling app. It won’t allow me to directly give my contact info to a nanny, so we can only call or text via the app. And it closes my job automatically after so many days, which I find annoying and unnecessary. Grateful that I found a nanny here, but I plan to look for another app.
Mabilia's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/1/18 3:46 PM
I have trouble having the app consistently sync to my account when I go back and forth between using the website and the app. Sometimes it will tell me certain sitters I am looking at have accounts that have been closed. But I will find this to be untrue if I log onto the website. Sometimes the app will not display sitter reviews but again I will find them if I log onto the website. Overall I use it because I can’t sit in front of my computer all day but I do not find it very reliable.
Jen in MO's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/1/18 3:18 PM
I like that I can be notified right away when someone messages me. I would like the search options better if I could sort by days care is needed, rather than having to click on each posting within my search results looking for the specific days I am available.
RachelMKE's Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/1/18 2:27 PM
Care.com is a great way to find babysitters. However, the app and website need a lot of improvements. It’s hard to search for people who meet your needs and often times the notifications don’t work and people don’t know that they have messages. It is really frustrating! The only reason I keep using it is because I have found really good babysitters through it.
RD......'s Review of CarecomReviewed on 7/1/18 10:43 PM
Unintuitive and difficult to line up jobs and appropriate responses. The app charges you multiple hidden fees if you choose to pay through the app; I.e 10% surcharge plus a non-optional fee for supposed healthcare coverage? Without asking?
BrittIsABlondiee's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/9/18 5:21 PM
I created an account online and decided to get the app so I could use Care.com more easily. Well, when I open the app, it immediately brings me to a screen to enter in my bio. I’ve already done that online, but I did it again just to get it over with. Once I’m done with all of the steps to set up my profile, I hit “done” and the app closes. When I open it again, the process starts over and asks me to enter a bio. I can’t get past this and it’s so frustrating. I can’t even use the app.

Needs to break down availability and hours into one-hour increments. Needs to specify type of pet. Families say, “Must be comfortable with pets...” Is it a cat, dog, snake, tarantula? Dog, yes. Others, not so much. Jobs should disappear from searches when they are filled. The chat/communication is awful. Cost is prohibitive. In general, I don’t recommend.

E & S Ramos's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/24/18 7:05 PM
We used care.com to find a nanny. It’s easy to navigate and had quality applicants. I like the scheduling feature for interviews and the ability to pay someone in the app if needed. I wish I could see all the scheduled interviews at once, because it’s easy to double-book if you’re not careful.
DReaderABC's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/24/18 5:46 PM
Care.com is a nice service with a couple major exceptions. 1. It used to be free to request a copy of the applicant’s background check. Now it would s a steep fee. I think that to keep its members safe care.com should require all members to pay for an initial background check when they sign up for account and be able to give that to potential employers on request. 2. The iPhone app is absolutely terrible. The message notification system does not work. I only get notified of messages (the red dot with number of messages in it) after I open the app. Additionally Care.com seems to be blacklisted from some of the major email providers and ALL care.com emails automatically go to junk folder. I have lost some good Nanny’s because I could not maintain communication with them. 3. Cannot exchange phone information in the app and most providers are not set-up to call through care.com app 4. The care.com app DOES NOT SHOW HOW LONG A CAREGIVER HAS BEEN REGISTERED WITH CARE.COM. I have had many caregiver candidates who mysteriously disappeared with messages saying their accounts had been shut down. I can still see their profile in some cases but cannot send them messages.
Khloe8908's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/24/18 10:55 PM

I’m a college student looking to make money over the summer, thought care.com was a great idea. Don’t be fooled! They constantly pester you to upgrade to premium, will charge you money for a background check and driving record, and will charge even more money to respond to messages. I’m not sure where they got the idea that people are trying to spend money instead of making it. Complete waste of time!

Things you can’t do in this app: —call phone numbers typed into chat messages —copy text from chat messages —reopen a job listing after culling first-round applicants —see your own job listings on your home feed —see accurate averages of applicants’ reviews
Brittany.morgan's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/21/18 11:45 AM
The fact that you have to upgrade to reply to a person or even see the messages and pay that amount of money is ridiculous, it never used to be like this!!!
NewCambridgeMom's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/20/18 3:34 AM
Runs with a lag - messages don’t refresh instantly and runs with a lag. Hard to organize applications - it’s all message-based. Other than tagging candidates with Decline, Keep in the Running, or “Heart” there’s no real way to keep track of who you’ve talked, take notes on each candidate, or if that candidate had previously applied for another job posting. App crashes when I start deleting old messages. While not an app issue, I find that applicants RARELY read your post carefully before applying. I go through about 20 applications and exchange 1-2 messages with each candidate (that actually bothers to respond) to realize that the dates/times they are available DO NOT MATCH MY JOB DESCRIPTION.
Thatchman2's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/20/18 3:21 AM
Buggy app won’t rotate to landscape mode. Nanny images don’t load consistently. App harvests and cloaks your phone number in the name of increased “security”. Creepy.
Me@@@'s Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/20/18 10:58 AM
I do love this app mostly. The only flaw is that it is not well designed for the IPhone X. When I open a review of a caregiver, the “x” button to close the review is directly over the right upper notch of the iPhone X, where the signal, WiFi, and battery icons are. It means that I’m unable to press the “x” button to close the caregiver review, so I have to force close the care.com app each time and start over. Hopefully they fix this issue once they start refining the app for iPhone X (and the many new phones with the same notch that Apple is making next).
Kapow12's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/20/18 10:16 PM
I paid $40 for a month subscription and every time I try to message an applicant, it won’t send. It erases my messages and tells me the person is “inactive” despite that I can see their profile and application. The worst part: I can’t hit Help or anything in the app without it telling me my email isn’t set up. But my email address is there in settings. This is hindering my ability to get a care provider for my mother. Very frustrated and the cost is ridiculous for this kind of issues and lack of support!

Sophie Kitty's Mommy's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/18/18 6:49 PM
I feel that for as much as we spend on a premium account, as well as all the dumb extras we pay for when posting a listing, this app would be significantly farther along than where it was when we started using it (one year ago). And not just the app, but also the website. The whole service is horrifically overpriced for the amount of senseless issues you have to battle whilst paying for it. Still all the dumb glitches, striving to be as un-user-friendly as possible, and incorporating useless “security” measures (not allowing for phone numbers to be shared for interviews, etc.). The “Carechat” is a time waster that attempts to solve the self-inflicted problem of not sharing numbers, by creating a whole new system that doesn’t work properly, which is novel way of killing two birds with one stone.

At first I liked the app. But then I realized they are mischievous. I started an account trying to find a babysitter for my son. I searched for one and all the babysitters that come up were far and paid premium to the app. But guess what???!! There is a babysitter in my building who did not pay the premium and she never came up in my search and I never came up in her search either. Now I am working with that babysitter and extremely happy with her! What this app is doing is really bad! Trying to show that whoever pays more becomes qualified and ready to work!!!! Disgraceful and disgusting what you guys are doing!!! You are very dishonest! I was going to buy a premium and search for maids and other services but not anymore after discovering what they have been doing.

This app used to be great. Then I had a ton of problems paying my caregiver. And now I cannot cancel the job, THAT ENDED 2 weeks ago! I even called. I still get asked everyday if I want to pay her.... there doesn’t seem to be a way to terminate the job in the app or online. And apparently nobody there knows how to do it since I was on hold for over 10 minutes while they tried to figure it out.
Mordeehan's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/13/18 8:05 PM
The app is not actually connected to the web site so if you get prompted to download the app (like I did) when you go to the website on your phone DO NOT download it. It won’t connect instead will charge you another $39.99. Also, the customer service is awful. I called to cancel after being charged the next month (though I only signed up for one AND cancelled my subscription l) and they said it had been cancelled and refunded. 3 months later I see I’m still being charged $39.99... again I call to cancel, this time my call was answered by a call center. The woman (conveniently ) states “there are no notes in the system saying you cancelled, however I can refund you 1 month.” Well, that’s a good start but what about the remaining $79.98? I’m not wasting my money on Care.com’s mistake. Of course I get the usual blah blah blah from here, “that’s all I can provide for you ma’am” and “no I can’t transfer you to anyone else but they will call you” and “we will reach out to you with a response by e-mail n the next 7-10 business days” etc etc... Waste of time. Worst part is we never even found care because though I filled out a very detailed schedule, the amount I could pay and the hours I needed, everyone and their mom who doesn’t fit the above stated needs reached out with none (literally none) matching up with what we were looking for. Save your time and save your money.

I have a background check that I just had done for free that includes SSN Trace, Sex offender search, Global Watchlist Search,National Criminal Search, Federal Criminal Search, County Criminal Searches, and a Motor Vehicle Report. but I can’t upload it, theres no way to upload files that you have. You have to buy it off of care.com which is BS. This is preventing me from becoming a “carepro.” Alongside of uploading files, there should be a portfolio section where you can upload a background check, a resume, certifications, and other credentials and files specific to your job applications. There is “the file cabinet” but it won’t let you upload anything. The only thing you can do is file your w4, so that section is a waste of a resource. Where is the wepay section?? You should have that in pay& benefits! I cannot believe that there is no place that you can write in your direct deposit account information. So frustrating. How can people be proactive about getting their accounts set up? I have to click all over this entire website to figure out how to do what I want to do. Your app doesn’t work well. When you ask to “request a payment” under the Pay& Benefits tab, it shows you all of these people that I haven’t worked with but says I’ve been hired by them. When I haven’t even talked to half of them. There were so many of them that the one person that I actually worked for wasn’t even on there and I have to close out, find his profile, and request payment that way to get to him. So ridiculous On your app, I’ve requested payments that then don’t show up on your actual website even when I wait days afterwards for it to show up. For my schedule, my first family also was using care.com for the first time and didn’t know how to navigate around either. He scheduled me from 7:30-4:30 for the next 4 weeks when he only needed me for 1 week. He doesn’t know how to change it, and I don’t have the authority change it, so now my schedule is incorrect to other users for the next 4 weeks. I should be able to manage my own schedule manually. Under upcoming bookings, I have a booking that was scheduled for June 4th that is just sitting there because there’s no way to complete or cancel it to make it go away. Also when you click on it to see the details, the “cancel” button doesn’t work. You have to click outside of the screen for it to go away. Just annoying

I tried to create a care giver profile to look for house keeping jobs. On my computer/desktop the website would only let me create a profile to hire someone which is the opposite of what I want. Downloaded the app on my phone and went to log in thru the app and it said I had to download the app first. I already did. So confusing. Hate this app.
LizM217's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/12/18 7:56 PM
The app works fine, but the desktop site does not. I’ve had some luck with this app as far as finding a sitter. However, the Messaging system does not work properly on my MacBook. I’ve contacted tech support and followed all instructions to clear cookies, etc. Still does not work. I provided them with my operating system and browser info. They say they cannot duplicate the problem and implied that I don’t know how to use my own computer by explaining how my scroll bar works. I know how it works! I use my computer everyday. The scroll bar is simply not there in the Messaging part of the site. Therefore, you cannot scroll down to view additional messages, and you can’t scroll down on the active message to read the entire message. There simply is no scroll bar! It is inconvenient to only be able read and send messages on my phone! And for the price of this service, it should work! So technically the app works fine, but don’t waste your money if you are a MacBook user and plan to use the full site on your computer.

No support. It tries you to get to upgrade on a regular basis & who knows what kind of people you are contacting. Stay away!
Lovesignsxoxo's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/1/18 6:14 PM
In order to be hired, those interested in a nanny/babysitter have to be able to respond to your application. The only way to see their response is to purchase premium. I was looking for date night babysitting jobs, and Care wants $15 a month for me to be able to work a few nights here and there. I give this one star, but it’s not even worth that.

HuskyPerson's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/1/18 2:24 AM
First of all, when I downloaded this app, I expected it to have more benefits than just visiting the site from safari. Turns out, there were things I couldn’t update from the app at all which completely defeated its purpose. I had downloaded this app to try and find someone to care for my dog while I was away. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to do background checks on the applicants but it turns out, I CAN’T even view an application without paying for the service. That’s just flipping ridiculous in my opinion. What even is the point? If you’re going to charge for a service, charge for it. Don’t even offer it for free because there’s absolutely no point in putting up an advertisement with applications you cannot read.
Priscilla.cookie's Review of CarecomReviewed on 6/1/18 12:29 AM
When you’re looking for someone to care for your child you need something ultra reliable and easy to use. This app does not update very quickly and is full of glitchy mistakes. It’s platform has improved since the last time I used it but the app itself is still full of annoying glitches. For example when messaging a potential candidate it repeatedly asks if you’re ready to interview them or if you’ve hired them. Repeatedly is an understatement. When it notifies you of a message and you click on the notification, it takes you to the app and shows you only that message, not any previous conversation which is a huge inconvenience. When you try and view a candidates information from the messages, the profile information doesn’t populate. There’s a ton more similar glitches that make it impossible to use this app.

I’ve had many issues with this website and app for so long. I’ve had to make multiple accounts because you cannot change your occupation or at least not on the app. It’s frustrating to use. After emailing the support staff for days, I get no helpful responses. Finally am able to log into an account I never completed because it kept telling me my address was a fake one. Any address I typed it was apparently fake to them. Ridiculous. THEN after I started applying to jobs available, I have to PAY to even read a response if I got any. Are you kidding me? Complete waste of time. Never using the app again. Deleting the app right after this review. Can’t even delete my account because there’s no option to on the mobile app. I have to use a computer, it’s not like everyone has one.
Too much time!'s Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/8/18 1:58 AM
The app constantly closes while in the middle of checking messages or tiring to schedule appointments. I also experienced similar problems on the computer where it did not recognize valid addresses when scheduling in person interviews. I will close my account after I complete this 1 month subscription. What trash! They try to push safety but charge for everything, concealing phone numbers so you are forced to communicate on their website. I was attempting to check references & the site continued to call the applicant. I had to ask the applicant to email references to my email address so I could check references. I called customer care and the lady continued to apologize with no attempts to solve the problems I was experiencing.

We were trying to locate a part time child care provider for our daughter and thought we would give care.com a shot. First problem, $40-55 per month??? This is beyond ridiculous for what you get. The app has many glitches, from just plain crashing to being unable to see what you are typing in certain areas. On top of that is has very few features that it should at this price. When trying to post a job, you only have a minimal amount of preferences (has own car, non smoker, and something else). There needs to be so many more options. Now I see that the caregivers are also charged a similar amount??? This is awful to say the least. If you’re going to charge for your service, it should be one end or the other. Take a tip from services like thumbtack or home advisor and charge one side and stop being greedy.

If I could give -137 stars I would I dont think I have ever felt so unsafe on an account before and am in the process of deleting it! I signed up to be a pet sitter and I had emailed 2 people. The first person I emailed told me their background, about their dog, their family, and that I would be walking, feeding, and taking care of the dog. Then asked me to give my name, address, phone number, and zip code. I did not give them my address or zip code and told them it was for safety purposes, obviously. A few minutes later I received an email by the 2nd person I had talked to....their email to me had said the EXACT same thing the 1st one did just with different names and prices. I was immediately spooked and deleted all of the emails. I am glad I did not go through with spending a PENNY on this website!!

Tj Savvy's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/31/18 4:30 AM
Caregivers have been good, but the process is difficult in large part due to the fact the app is sooo difficult to work with. It is not intuitive so you’re always trying to figure out what combination of links is going to get you the information you need. The app frequently will NOT put your messages or phone calls through using their “secure” line. I purchased a background check which I was not able to access. After several days I was able to access part of it, but have not been able to access the rest. I send messages and get no response...I don’t know if people are not getting them or if they are not responding. All this might be less frustrating if there was a help line, but in 2 years of use, I have only successfully received 1 response to my dilemmas. I have tried to get help more than 5 times. When my membership is over (no refunds} I’ll be looking for another source!
Avcxzyski's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/31/18 1:47 AM
If I can give it no stars, I would. For a week, I have been dealing with the problem that job applicants cannot fill out the background check form because it doesn’t allow them to enter their SSN. The support team are great at spouting script written answers without truly working to follow up with applicants, analyze the problem, and work with them to solve the problem. Ana C.

Hallie B.'s Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/3/18 6:23 PM
I’m 15 years old so there was not very many options as far as caregiving websites, considering the majority of them required users to be 18 years or older, so I decided to give Care.com a try. In the beginning, I loved it. I had all of my account set up just the way I wanted, and had already recognized a few different jobs that I was interested in. After a couple days of waiting, I heard from someone whom I had not applied to. I was glad to hear from an owner looking for help, but as I was about to schedule a phone call interview, their account had been suspended. I figured that it was a violation of their account that got them suspended, so I continued looking and moved on from that owner. I decided it was time to apply for some jobs, but then i ran across a problem. Apparently, you are required to pay Care.com for credits, if you don’t, you cannot apply for a job nor care you reply to messages. I did not particularly agree with this requirement, because I was trying to get a job, not pay someone else for theirs. I decided to uninstall the app, and continue looking for different jobs. Today, I received an email from Care.com saying I had a new message (I had forgot to actually shut down my entire account), so I decided to log back in and close it down. Before shutting down my account, I looked at 3 different messages i had received, all stating their name was Mariana moving from Florida, but each was a different account claiming there name was different from what their message had said. This reminded me of the previous message from the account that had been suspended, and I realized they had claimed their name was Mariana too and that they were supposedly moving from Florida as well. I looked at other reviews saying that they believed Care.com was a scam that sent fake messages to try and get you to pay to reply, and from my experience I would agree. Not only was this an odd experience, but it was also rather frightening. Hearing from 4 different accounts claiming they all had the same story makes you wonder who really was behind the screen!
amandacalfmilk's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/3/18 3:36 PM
I would give 0 stars, but they won’t let me. I paid a lot of money to be get the background checks and I have only been bombarded with spam interview requests. It’s constant. It’s not hard to find people looking for someone to hire, but the spam texts, emails, and notifications are all day everyday. Care needs to figure out how to prevent these scammers. It could be dangerous. Not at all satisfied. Find babysitting jobs through word of mouth, don’t pay for this garbage-y app, unless you would like all of your inboxes flooded with hundreds of offers for you to walk someone’s golden retriever for $100/walk....seems pretty shady to me.

Thank you for the recent menu improvements in the IOS version of this app. The “apply” window for caregivers to type in is very difficult to use due to limited areas to tap the cursor, as well as no spell checker? Also, the search parameters don’t really match up with what I need to search for in such a large database of available postings. There should be more options in the search bar. Thank you!

Matched my job to over a dozen service providers and no responses. Another told me she just got my message even though I sent it 3 days before. Then she says she is not available even though her profile says she is. Also 90% of the girls for house cleaning are very attractive. It’s as if Care.com uses looks to bait you into paying their high subscription rates. I don’t believe most of the profiles are even real. Also I tried to put my needs at bi-weekly house cleaning but the system keeps it at 7 consecutive days. Don’t waste your time or money on this.

I posted on care.com and paid extra to have my ad featured for a month. Only three people replied to my featured ad. I reached out to about 25 people proactively asking them to view my add. Seven replied they were interested. I set up 5 phone interviews. All 5 accepted and agreed on a time with me and I had three no shows to interviews. Many people i contacted had already taken FT work. Not sure why their profile is still up. All in all $39 for a month membership is s lot to pay when you don’t get hits and people don’t respond. Care could do a better job of having a status for those looking actively or not. I only contacted people who had been active in the last week - that was the best way but still not great results. I’ll be canceling my membership.

Nothing but scams. And creepy people that message caregivers for YEARS without any help from Care.com. They don’t care about caregivers whatsoever. You can’t even leave a review for parents but you can for sitters? We sitters are the ones risking everything to go to a complete strangers home to take care of children. The least care could do is support us. I’ve had scammers contact me. I’ve babysat for parents who stated they’d pay a certain amount but end up paying significantly less. Also there are MANY adds from parents offering LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE! And care has banned sitters for informing those parents! Do not use this if you are a sitter or a professional nanny. I recommend using a local Facebook group. I’ve found unicorn family’s locally but nothing but risking, lying families on care. Best of luck sitters.

I just signed up with Care.com and I cannot find the meanings of "premium" or the other symbols next to caregivers' names. The app does not allow me to see ALL ratings for a caregiver. For instance, 1 person is showing 3 1/3 starts over 8 ratings. But when I click to read reviews, only 4 reviews come up, all with 5 stars only. There is missing information and a big gap between 5 stars and 3 1/3 stars. All the ratings and definitions should be easy to find.

What’s the point of this app if no one is available for when you need them or it’s waaaay to expensive to afford. I just needed a babysitter not a down payment on a car.
ThrillKills's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/23/18 3:43 AM
I have not written an app review in at least 6 years but this is so bad it deserves 0 stars. People come on to this site to apply to jobs so they can earn some money. How great is it to find out after you apply to a job that you cant even talk to the person you applied to unless you pay for a membership?? Like what the f**k is that about. Im trying to earn money here but Im not even able to get responses to my applications because you want me to pay for a membership? At this point its easier to just advertise with posters on telephone poles and cheaper as well.
uvajeD's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/23/18 12:20 PM
We have used this service to hire babysitters for the last 11 years. The Care.com service is quite useful for finding our sitters. However the app and web site makes it difficult to sort applicants for your jobs. This should work more like a standard email and texting app, instead they display a lot of messages as a stream of consciousness with mixing my 52 applicants all together. They have little ability to sort, take notes on or rate applicants for personal review. On several occasions, we have mistaken one applicant for another because the messages seem to get mixed up between different applicants. Furthermore, you need to use the app to make phone calls for you because you can’t share phone numbers between sitters and yourself. I wish I could find a service that was as useful as Care.com that cared about the paying customers needs instead of constantly adding barriers to usefulness with their technology.

Tj Savvy's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/22/18 2:59 AM
The caregivers I have found through care.com have all been good but the app is very frustrating. It is not intuitive and very difficult to navigate. It blocks phone numbers which wouldn’t be so bad except that the interface through the app for calling doesn’t work either. I waste a lot of time trying to find messages and applicants. I cringe every time I have to locate a new caregiver because the app is so inefficient and frustrating. On top of it all I can’t find anyplace to get help or report problems!
StefaniBanks's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/21/18 9:55 PM
I am shocked that an app that requests so much money for a subscription, they have no way other than email to get in contact with the company!
AngeloSF's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/21/18 5:27 AM
$79 for 3 months? When you finally find someone it’s $59 for a basic background check. You get charged whether or not they accept to do the background check. If you have deep pockets and don’t mind having potential sitters hang up on you or ignore your messages, be my guest.
Hayley1314's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/21/18 1:02 PM
I can’t apply for anything because I don’t have enough credits, but when will the needing credits actually end. I’m not forking out $25 when I need 1 credit to apply for a job less than a mile from me.
MathewThomas's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/21/18 12:37 AM
Care.com recently started blocking messages with phone numbers. So you cannot contact the Caregiver directly to discuss the job or set up an interview. This causes a lot of problems because your calls don’t go through. It is also frustrating for the job seeker and you as the advertiser because your call get linked to a care.com. They say this is all in privacy. I am willing to opt out of their B/S. This is not the case. Please don’t join because you will be frustrated.

CooganNYC's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/2/18 9:04 PM
Terrible, scam business, stay away. Paid for a month to see if anything has improved with this site regarding pet services like dogsitting, after I was a paid member early last year. Nothing has changed, it’s just as bad as before, dumbfounding. Job offers are fake, I often see poster names elsewhere doing a broad Google search for specific jobs and recognize descriptions, and more importantly I constantly get fake work requests for a phone meeting from someone supposedly from another state who is moving soon to my area and wants me to email and/or call them with my info to start working.. ludicrous and Nigerian Prince spam-esque. Its clear my personal data is compromised and exploited. On the first day after putting up a thoughtful profile was bombarded with phishing replies for these non existent jobs, after a few days was fed up and took time out to report each and send Care an concise, polite but detailed email about my grievances and suggestions how to improve things. Also a mention I feel ripped off and wanted a refund. Took them 3 days to reply and all I got was a wishy washy apology and that they’ll try to kick off fake accounts doing the spamming. If they vetted people better that wouldn’t be necessary. Apparently anyone anywhere can create an acct and contact others- which means info about you, your pet or child are exposed. I know I’ll never get my refund so I won’t press for it and nothing will change anytime soon with fake offers or spammers because Care makes too much money to bother. I urge people to avoid this company, or at minimum do NOT become a paid member or fall for paying for their add on services.

Used to be a decent app but after the update it made it harder to find jobs. It used to be really easy. They had categories to choose from like date night, caregivers etc but that went away with the update and all jobs are mixed together and it’s just a big pain.

Baby GJT's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/13/18 9:41 PM
The app shows star ratings for applicants in the list of applicants, but when you click on the applicants’ profiles, the ratings do not match. Also, when I favorite or decline an applicant, it often takes days to update to show that I have favorited or declined someone in my list.
kelhutch17's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/13/18 4:45 PM
Whoever came up with this “subscription model” was just not thinking about the users. This app claims they have a free, basic version, but I quickly discovered this app is unusable unless you pay a high monthly fee. So basically you create a listing (if looking for care) OR you put in application to a listed job (if looking to be hired). That is what you can do for free. Once an application is received, neither party can chat or accept a job unless one side of the transaction pays for premium. So in my case of looking for someone to watch my cats, I cannot hire the people who have applied because neither of us pay. I am definitely not paying for this because you force me into it. I will take my business elsewhere. If you had made it where I could chat and hire my first job free as a trial and have me gain trust, then I would consider a subscription. Reconsider your greedy priorities and monetize your business in a way that doesn’t screw your customers over. Hire UX designers or something because this current model is absolutely TERRIBLE.
LinnyMartinez's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/13/18 11:29 PM
Paid $90 for 3 months and cannot exchange numbers thru the app! You can only chat in the app. Most babysitters listed never reply. One called me thru the app after reading my message while driving on the highway! I tried posting my own jobs and received tons of prewritten applications and the ZERO applicants responded for an interview. Without being able to exchange contact information it is impossible to communicate. Huge waste of money, not cheap, and frustrating waste of time

Application does not open, can’t see my messages.
HoustonRes's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/10/18 9:32 PM
There are so many apps that do what this one should, they really don’t need to reinvent the wheel here. But pages don’t load, messages aren’t stored in logical locations or order, and a person’s rating can be one thing in your messages and entirely different (or nonexistent) on their profile. The website has lots of issues too so clearly they don’t offer competitive salaries for their IT positions. I might need to ditch them for their competitor because it’s so annoying that they can’t fix any of this despite all their update pushes.
Sessi A.'s Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/10/18 9:09 PM
I find it incredibly ridiculous that I have to pay way too much for just a one month subscription just for families to be able to respond to my messages. I especially dislike that I can only get ‘three’ messages that can receive replies before I have to pay for any more. And in reality, I only got two messages that could be replied to. I honestly used to love this app. Now I just hate it because it’s become more of a money scam than anything. And you can’t provide your number to families because of “privacy” matters, but really, they just want to make money off the fact that you can only have contact if you pay. LAME!!!
bavezp's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/10/18 5:56 PM
This is not a review but it looks like the only way to contact you people. I am not seeing how to show that I am unavailable for jobs due to the fact that I am working right now. Is there a way that I can do that so that I’m not getting contacted by people and having to turn them down?
Jrmint427's Review of CarecomReviewed on 5/10/18 4:05 AM
They tell you that a subscription comes with “access to” security features. What they really mean is that if you pay the monthly subscription, you have access to purchase background checks. Even if the provider’s background check is already on file - they are asking $65 (on top of the $80 I just paid for membership) to view it. I could have found someone on Facebook and bought my own background check online for far less than $145 - which is exactly what I will do next time!

J45419's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/9/18 1:43 PM
Too much interference with the app asking if I hired. Asking if I want to call. Trying to get me to make payments through app. Not allowing for phone number exchanges. Also trying to edit job description using the app is very clumsy. Doesn’t allow you to highlight words or put cursor where you need it to be to delete a word.
Tc0512's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/9/18 10:47 AM
I hate the new updated version of this app. Prior to them updating the app I never had a problem with them other than having to contact them for questions about payment. I could go and apply to all kinda of jobs for errands and pets, etc. Now in order to have to apply for job other than companion care, I have to pay money for credits to use...to apply to peoples requests. If I’m on the site then I obviously need the money so you charging me money to apply to jobs is ridiculous! And i completely dislike the new setup where i cannot look at the jobs in a list, i must read thru each individually because it doesnt give me the option to opt out of the description page for each and every job. Only when you have applied to or passed EVERY JOB under that category do you see a way out: to start all over again with the very same job popup setup. Your greedy and I think I will take my business somewhere else.
Iamsherbear's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/8/18 9:55 AM

We posted an add for a tutor on care.com using the free account. We received all these alleged responses. However, you can’t reply to any of them. So we upgraded our account by paying close to $60. Not one of the 20 or so responses have replied to our response to their application. We posted on the Neighborhood app (completely free) have received better response from people that are both qualified and local. With care.com you have to pay for your own detailed background check anyhow; we might as well use another resource.
Savvy!7's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/8/18 9:12 PM
It’d be much better if once you applied to a job, it went away to a section where only the jobs you applied to were in the section. When I choose to look at “new” jobs there are jobs there i’ve already applied to. or if you could swipe away jobs that don’t match your interest.

I have tried this app for a few months now and after the second month of being blocked from seeing messages and sending anymore I decided to pay the monthly fee, to only not get any responses from any one. I love this app. We’ve been so lucky to have found great caregivers through care.com. It’s easy to use and search for people. Tucker's brother's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/6/18 3:39 PM
Being laid up, I needed some help for daily tasks. This app promises to help you get the help you need. NOT. First, I marked “ only recently active “, then I looked for reviews. Only one person was reviewed! Out if several contact requests, only one person got back to me, and they are over booked. This is worse than Angie’s list, more expensive & impossible to cancel! I paid for 4 months, because that was the cheapest way to go ( a “ special “ for $45. Vs one month for $39.) Terms say to cancel to call or email: calling doesn’t give you the option. I did find on the app to cancel, but then I lose the rest of the time I paid for to use the service. BIG RIP OFF

The aspiration of the app is fine. In fact I thought it warranted the premium I am paying. Alas, I never write reviews but I am so frustrated with this app that I am so compelled to warn everyone lest Care.com get their software/product act together. As I started to use it, specifically to communicate with my nanny candidates and set up interviews, it’s true colors or being buggy as all heck showed through. It will continuously tell me that the person I am communicating with has deleted their account. Imagine if I actually believed the app!! I would be taking these candidates out of the running thinking they ran for the hills. Interviews were getting canceled with no prompting or action on any user part. Similarly, imagine if the nanny candidate were not vigilant and messaged me again asking if I canceled the interview! Also, messages are not copyable, only when you’re in edit mode. When you’re speaking to a handful of candidates at once, being able to copy and paste is essential my developer friends. It’s an app that actually makes me fear using it, wondering if it will poorly reflect on me when in fact it is the app acting up. Please fix it ASAP. mackenmoore's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/27/18 5:21 AM
Care.com did this new thing where you have to pay money to even be able to respond (or see responses) to messages and jobs. No longer are you able to communicate, respond to jobs or even receive a message from a potential client. This use to be a wonderful avenue to find jobs as a nanny but I’m not going to spend $25 a month just to be able to see a messag. Oh and they block your profile if you put your contact info in your “bio”. Lame. Apps great, the company and its workings not so much. Lost my business.
SilverFame's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/27/18 3:58 PM
The app is very buggy. When trying to message an applicant, it arbitrarily and routinely says that the member account is closed. Then other times, the message works just fine. I imagine it is showing my account as closed to others who are trying to message me too. I expect a better functioning app. Also, if you are trying to hire someone through a free account, good luck- for some reason, you are going to get extremely few applicants, if at all.

I have used Care.com several times and this issue is new to me. It doesn’t load new messages as I receive them. I can’t even find the old messages of applicants for my job post. Sometimes they are available and sometimes not. It makes no sense. The app appears to be user friendly and the layout is nice but there’s not point in using it if you can’t properly communicate with the applicants. They charge more now for a less reliable service.
The1jazzybabe's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/26/18 3:31 PM
If I could give this a negative set of stars I would. I put my information on Care.com to be a provider, with the understanding it was free. People can see it but can’t contact me unless I pay. That was not my understanding from the beginning and I’m very frustrated with this app. A total manipulation of facts to get money. Not happy at all. No customer service number to call to cancel my account! I sent them an email requesting to remove my account. They then proceeded to return an email asking how they did resolving my problem. I’m thinking the app running this business is too busy to speak to people who would potentially make them money. Not worth the time. I feel this is a waisted effort.
Jaymibh's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/26/18 11:11 PM
Only thing on the site is spammers and people not interested in hiring. I’ve tried this site 3 different times. I had more luck when it just started about 3 years ago. Now, all I get are people phishing for my phone number and email address. I tried for a refund but Care.com customer service ignored my request. I would skip this and try one of the many other newer services. This one is older and played out.

Messages that are read in the app will not register as read. Also, when you click on pictures, it is a blank screen. Super inconvenient!
Cabel2000's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/23/18 4:34 PM
This app is so annoying to use. It’s trying to do so much that it doesn’t do anything well. It’s heart is in the right place but it’s clunky. For example: I’ve accidentally closed my job posting twice because I clicked the wrong button and the only way out closed the job. The list of applicants is not in any particular order. It refreshes and reorders 5-7 times each time you access the list. It takes so long to find the info I need that I avoid using it until absolutely necessary.

I have been on this website for 2 weeks and all I have received is scam messages. I have reached out to people and even paid 45 dollars for the premium plan which is a waste of money I can’t get back. It will not let me delete my card from the website and every time I go to email for help the email will not send. This is a terrible website and I am not sure who is giving it so many stars. I never write emails but I have become so sick of only getting scams like the one I have posted below. It would be the same message but different names 2-3 times a day. Don’t even try this because you will not get your money back! “ Hello, My name is Eva' i'm currently in the process of moving to your area, i read your profile on Care.com and i would like to have you as my pet sitter to take care of my cookie, starting from 5th of May. I'm willing to pay 25/hour, 9 am-1 pm, Mondays-Thursdays "or" 9 am-1 pm Saturdays and Sundays, you can send me an email confirming your interest, email me with your resume to ( evanelson 146 at yahoo dot com )for more details. Littleellieb's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/22/18 7:27 PM
I joined care.com 12 years ago. Over the years, there have been things I’ve hated about the service, but I’ve dealt with them. No more. This is totally a scam now. As a caregiver, I can’t apply for jobs without paying a monthly fee. ($25 if I want one month, less if I’m willing to pay for 3 or 6 months — why would I use a job service that isn’t going to get me a job for 3 or 6 months?!) Paying money didn’t do me any good. Every single job I applied for had 50+ people I was up against and I heard back from no one (though care.com was kind enough to inform me that all of my emails have been read). I don’t know if it’s because the parents aren’t interested or if they’re also being subjected to insane prices just to respond to applicants. All I know is I’ve been a nanny for 14 years. It’s never taken me more than 3 applications to get a response back and I’m valuable enough that I usually end up being able to choose from multiple jobs at the end of the interview process. But now I’m not even getting an email back? I know it’s not the quality of my email. Using other services, I’ve gotten replies from every family I’ve reached out to. But I haven’t even gotten a response to the email that was sent to me, let alone a single one from any of the dozens of jobs I applied to on care.com. This site has gone down hill fast and I have gone from cautioning people about using it to I will never, ever, suggest anyone use it anymore.

I’ve been a member of Care.com for over a year now and it’s honestly so not worth is as a nanny. The parents hardly ever respond and now you have to upgrade your account for them to respond - or at least to see what they said - and you can’t reply back without paying Care.com.

We have not had much luck with the app and customer service has been no help. We had a payment send twice and customer service pretty much said tough luck so the sitter got double the payment and we were just out the money. Not impressive.
HokieNP2B's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/2/18 1:31 AM
Basically someone has to pay or you can’t communicate. So if you as the employer pay for a premium account you can message everyone. But if you don’t, you can only communicate with the premium account sitters (very few). We did end up interviewing several well qualified sitters though and hired one that we really like. So in the end, it was worth the confusion and expense.
Concerned Kate's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/19/18 7:10 PM
Imagine if you only had to pay $5 to use this app and had full access to everything you needed...it would so be worth it but this is clearly unreasonable and I’ll use other means to find a sitter that are still safe and reliable...and free...
NorCalSusan's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/19/18 1:51 AM
Needed a sitter for one night but the app makes you “subscribe” and pay to get the services. One month is $59. Not worth it.

Wow. I’ll start by saying I’m a college student, and I’m living at home next semester. I want to be a school counselor when I finish grad school and I figured what better way to get a job and a bit of experience working with kids than to be a nanny, right? So I downloaded the app thinking that I’d land a babysitting gig by the time the semester ended and both of the people who contacted me turned out to be either a scam or there was some other reason that their profile was taken down (arrested, underage, being a catfish). So my advice to all the young women out there using this app, don’t. Delete your profile and use Craigslist or just talk to your neighbors because this site is shady. I’d rather everyone be safe than to go to a sketchy babysitting gig and wind up getting hurt because of some sack of sh*t using the site to lure girls to their residence with the promise of $250 for the week and a puppy. I will say they’re pretty good about catching scams and they’ll tell you when they’ve removed someone from the site, but I’ve been contacted by scammers twice now and that’s the only contact I’ve had with anyone on the platform.
rms0043's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/16/18 8:09 AM
Absolutely ridiculous Care.com decided to charge users for their services. What exactly is the purpose of even hunting for a babysitting job when Care.com charges you even more than you would make babysitting? Also, you’d think the app itself wouldn’t have SO many issues now that they can clearly afford any app maintenance costs...

Cancelled my account and followed the steps exactly. Charged for a new month anyway. The babysitters are not reliable- I am hoping the 3rd one shows up today. The last 2 cancelled at the last minute with some lame excuse and then never bothered to contact me again I have found one great babysitter but it has taken a lot of work. The only thing the premium membership pays is so you can see the messages... it’s very expensive for what you get. I thought there would be access to background checks but that is an additional cost I will never use this app again and I would not recommend any use it

TheAdamsFamily's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/15/18 8:41 PM
I really needed this site because I have a household of varying schedules. This site is not good for booking last minute childcare. You need at least 72 hours to find a suitable sitter and you really can’t book for less than $15/hr. Many times I post a job and multiple sitters apply and I find one I like and “book” them and attempt to schedule an interview and they never confirm soooo you ended up scrambling for another sitter. You do have many sitters who apply for the job with less than desirable ratings, or none at all which makes it difficult to vet the personality of a sitter. Because of this I always try to schedule an interview but almost nobody has updated availability! Also, it’s $200 to use the site and they charge fees on top of every job that you pay through the site. So finding care for an 8 hour work day is $120 plus approx another $20 in fees!

♨️‼️🌠 Why 1star? CAREGIVERS ARE OFTEN VERY BUSY PEOPLE. Please optimize your app for reliability, performance, and WORKFLOW ‼️ This app too often disappoints. Also .. CareChat .. 99% of your paying users HATE IT. Give us options. Don’t force CareChat upon those 99% who dislike it. READ ALL THE NEGATIVE COMNENTS ON CARECHAT - ON YOUR DISCUSSION BOARDS !!! ‼️‼️‼️‼️😴 Also... Takes a long time for client reviews to show up. When a client posts a review, it can take many days before it shows up on your profile. Also, with CarePro status, takes many days after you qualify before it shows up. If you respond to a voice message with a phone call (not via a text message) you will be penalized -- and you can lose your carepro designation. You MUST always respond with a TEXT message (within the system) to anything that you have received. Your voice response to a voice call request does NOT count. This is a BUG in their system. When you respond to a voice LINK with a voice CALL it should qualify as a response, it should not require another extra text response. Lost my carepro status for a week because of this problem. One more new problem with iOS 11, on iPhones it is very very very difficult to edit your text responses with him this system. It makes it almost impossible to write a text response because the EDITING capability is very very bad! Also, if you type a response, it sometimes gets flagged with erroneous characters, and it is impossible to edit and fix that problem. This is a very inconvenient system to use. This is what I'm giving the one star rating. Updated. 11/10/17. 01/09/18.

I had high hopes but it’s very difficult to use, and tech is one of my strengths. I had to redo my profile three times from scratch, and sending and finding messages from other users is difficult. I loath having to use this. Seems like every time I try to use a feature (which you have to pay for each thing you want to do) there is an error message or it won’t load. Ridiculous considering how much I have spent already.

Cloudcruzin's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/13/18 7:06 PM
I’m not sure what goes on with Care, but it’s very unprofessional and a waste of time. You cannot ever speak to anyone, and if they do email you , it’s never with a solution. I paid for a background check, even tho I have the highest security clearance there is, from my employer, and got confirmation FROM CARE, that it was confirmed and I passed. But CARE, doesn’t seem to have a record of it now. I have had many responses for jobs, but am always receiving emails, my schedule isn’t up to date. I have a long history of employment with a large international company, & thought I would “ donate” my services ( obviously I don’t do this for the money) but have gone elsewhere , and am making a contribution , with people who appreciate and value my service. Care is a complete waste of time and they try to extort money from you to upgrade your service, which I did, with the same zero results.

As far as using the app, whenever I try to message someone and add my job listing to the message, 9 out of 10 times it doesn’t show my active job listing. It only give me the option to “add new job”. I end up resorting to using my desktop computer, which defeats the purpose of the app. Several people have let me know that when they receive my message and try to view my job listing, it’s not on my profile and the only thing they can see is my “bio”. I then have to copy and paste my job listing description into a message for them. Lastly, when I signed up I used a promo code for 50% of the 1st month. They charged me full price. *update— all of my complaints have been addressed, with the exception of the my problems with the app itself. Customer service was great.

I am a care.com user as a nanny. The app constantly has error messages and i’m not even sure my messages to the families are sent through. They used to be a great company, not so greedy, but it seems now they want more and more money or they jeopardize your ability to make contact for a possible future employment opportunity. It’s a shame because I really like care.com and have found families through here before but since their update and revamping of the look of the app, things have gone downhill. Beware, and maybe choose sittercity or an app that doesn’t freeze so often and have countless restrictions. Company was the best a couple of years ago. Shame.

For $55 a month, I’m looking for one person, why do I need to sign up for 3 months for a “deal”. So far I wrote 5 people, two responded, one of which did not follow up again, one did not show up to the interview. I’ve used this app in the past and it’s always so much work, sometimes I don’t correspond with anyone bc it’s duds. They need better screening and also a respond time average notifier, so you don’t waste time or have “hope”. Better less expensive offers, it should be 55$ for an entire year for goodness sakes!

The handful of applicants I started conversations with never responded after the initial meet - allow seekers to rate sitters and vise versa based on response rate - this completely wasted my time and money. Ppl would be be more prompt if they were scored throughout process.
JustMyReviews's Review of CarecomReviewed on 4/11/18 5:25 AM
Honestly this is a horrible app.

I was looking for a caregiver for date nights and posted an ad. I received numerous prospects and I messaged about 75% of them back letting them know I am interested. The other 25% I declined an interview. While messaging the group of prospects, I found it very frustrating that I would receive a, “users account has been deleted” (I don’t remember the exact language) but it was along those lines. Then miraculously their account would reappear. Then what tops the cake is care.com closes my account for no reason at all. I paid for premium and I’m not even done with the premium amount of time I paid for! I even paid for the extra feature of background checks! I still have yet to meet some candidates but Care.com just closed my account. I will never refer anyone to use this site or app. They’re terrible!

Care.com used to be a great website and app to connect families with nannies for free. Now it’s charging way to much and doesn’t give what it says it will for the money. Their costumer service when you call about anything is horribly rude and unhelpful. On the app once you apply for a job there is no way to go back and read what you sent or what was posted as the original job listing. Seems like things are intentionally be withheld.

Good values company, focused on customer satisfaction and honest and compassionate care. Since they came up with the premium plan so a caregiver can view and send messages back, they have disappointed me because many of us are self employed and have to pay taxes etc, we don’t need an extra monthly fee just for messages and we really have no choice but to pay.

I used to love this app but as usual greed took over. And while it's got more features it's a bit harder to use. When I apply for a job, I want a tag on it that says applied xx/xx/yyyy. So I don't waste my time reapplying for it and looking stupid to the client. I also don't want jobs I've applied for to show up again. Just show me new jobs. And jobs need to have two dates on them. A date applied and a date needed. And drop off closed jobs. Simple requests for your programmers.
