GarBiegun's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 9/8/18 7:58 PM
The fitness/freshness/form equations are biased toward endurance events rather than shorter vo2 type events. But it’s still helpful to look at/understand your body. But most of all it’s super helpful for working with a coach.

I live every day by this app. Sometimes I think the interface needs a bit of a refresh, but the functionality meets all my needs. It’s a complex task they’ve undertaken, but they’ve done a good job of it. Training Peaks keeps me mentally focused and motivated, which any experienced athlete knows is the most important element of success.

If you like stats and putting numbers to your training, TrainingPeaks will do it. I’ve been using this app almost a year now and love it. The information helps with training plans and pacing. I’ve used it to complete 2 marathons, 2 ultras and 2 half Ironman races.

Race Litespeed's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 8/2/18 7:18 PM
Training Peaks just made it mandatory upgrade to the latest version that requires IOS 10. This is unfortunate because the iPhone 4S will only upgrade to iOS 9 yet it still supports the Wahoo 30-pin ANT+ key to use with ANT+ training devices. So with the mandatory upgrade to the Training Peaks app that requires IOS 10 I can no longer use the TrainingPeaks app. Please bring Training Peaks Support back for iOS 9.
MichaelLantz's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 7/7/18 11:27 PM
This is the best software ever! Loading a workout from my Garmin is automatic. Their concept of TSS is one of the best tools to maximize injury free performance at all levels. My goal is to win Kona and know what time I need to get there. Converting that to a TSS CTL score by race day at least let’s me know I’m in the game!
IngaW190👸's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 7/31/18 2:45 AM

I am sure I don’t need anywhere near the amount of info Training Peaks offers, but it sure is fun to see! I bought a training plan through Train Like A Mother and I love having the whole plan at my fingertips and turning those boxes green. The daily emails are great to remind me what I am running that day and what is coming up.
bhagar's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 7/26/18 8:23 PM
The app is great. They also matched me with a level 2 coach Taylor Thomas who is amazing. Only complaint is probably Garmin’s fault. It took forever to get my daily workouts to sync with TP. Once settled it works flawlessly. Not sure how I got it to work, but attempted a number of times and finally it did. I even started off using the directions. Wahoo on the way so we’ll see how that goes. Highly recommend this app and even a canned program to get you started, then do a coach match and you’ll make massive gains.

Chsifuwbd's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 7/12/18 12:40 PM
Training peaks has been phenomenal! I was training myself, but ended up getting stress fractures about 5 months before I had to go to Marine Corps OCS. I’ll admit, I was panicking since I had to stop running for many weeks and had to get back into top running shape when it healed in April. I talked to some friends and had someone recommend getting a coach to help with workouts that would help me ease back into running after I healed. The coach I have is named Billy Edwards. He had to get creative with the workouts that would build my running back up without causing another injury and I am so incredibly proud of the results I’ve seen.
Tri trainee's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 7/11/18 4:32 AM
Work with my coach through TP. Flawless site and app for creating, logging, and tracking work as I train up for various triathlons. Highly recommend for anyone trying to organize their workouts, purchase training programs, or work remotely with a coach.
Adub22's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 7/11/18 1:13 PM
TP is a great platform. Got the app to sync with several other training related apps so all the stats are automatically uploaded to TP for coach analysis. Def a must have IMO.
H.Mesharafa's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 7/1/18 8:21 PM
Though many think TP is for Triathletes it’s not it for many other sports, yes it took me to the finish line of 5 x 70.3 Ironman and one 140.6 but the app specious the pro version is an all round training support tool
wmcrain2's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 6/7/18 12:13 AM
Not what I wanted. I just want the Sufferfest training plans. I don't need this extra confusing, non-intuitive interface.
NDElvIII's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 6/21/18 1:35 PM
If you are working with a coach, training peaks really is the benchmark. If you are self coaching, training peaks becomes a necessity to keep yourself on track and measure your progress. It is easy to use, flexible and dependable. The only issue I have is, (I think), you still need the desktop version to do things like add new equipment. I track my shoe miles, so I need to add new shoes to my list and remove old ones. I haven’t figured out how to do this from the app. I also wish I could push workouts back to Garmin Connect to simplify getting them into my watch. Right now I have to fumble finger them in manually.
Gunnie's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 6/2/18 3:21 PM
TP and Apple need to get it together to get app for Apple watch please!
master soul crusher's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 6/2/18 2:36 PM
Training Peaks is a great app- extremely useful for triathlon training. I can automatically upload workout data from my Garmin devices and from Zwift workouts. I find the graphs helpful for tracking training load and overall health and recovery. My only complaint is that there is no way to use session RPE instead of training stress. I have to calculate my session RPE with a calculator and then enter it instead of TSS score. I find that session RPE is a better way to track my training load than TSS.
JBRAW's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 6/19/18 6:15 PM
I like how easy the calendar is to follow and that it syncs with Strava and Garmin. However I am new to most of the workouts so I don't understand the acronyms or terminology and there is no resource to look up what it all means.
Diversk's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 6/17/18 6:51 PM
A terrific tool for training. I'm working with a coach who creates my training plans, monitors my results, and adjusts based on the data - and I'm definitely seeing results. Absolutely indispensable.
pasdionsiren's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 6/15/18 3:12 AM
I’m surprised there is a paid version for this. If it could track your runs and then include that data in the trends and calendar etc it would be pretty cool. But having to link to other apps and watches etc makes this very outdated. Don’t really see the value in this.

All my data - Garmin, Strava, TrainerRoad, even my weight and body fat percentage - upload automatically. Get the premium version (big discount if you’re a USAT member) then you get Performance Management which is THE key feature. Fitness, fatigue and form numbers updated after every workout. See at a glance if your fitness is improving, if you need to take a day off or if you’re tapering optimally for your race. Invaluable!

I can plan several weeks of training in advance and watch my Fitness and Fatigue numbers to help myself stay healthy, not overtrain, and peak at the right time. Not only am I stronger now, but I’m stronger at the right times, and I no longer work out until I get sick or injured from overtraining.

First impression: WOW, that’s kinda expensive for an app that doesn’t do anything special After trying it out a while: “name your price, I’ll pay it” Great training tool! Easy to use but still had plenty of detailed data. Great design.
sunnymike's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 5/10/18 4:09 AM
I have used them all - from smashrun to all of the proprietary tools (meh) and of course Strava. Training peaks is the tool for “you” while Strava is where you connect with your buddies and (try to) show off. If you are serious about monitoring your progression to optimal performance, this is your go-to tool. I just wish that they would cede the fact that they need to coexist with Strava and allow comments and data to sync in some meaningful way. I use Tapiirik to sync now, but comments are not copied. Garmin connect allows for both Strava and TP to sync, but the point would be to use one platform to note comments (TP is more robust for this) and then allow a summary push to Strava. Do this and you get the extra star!

Jcdv2's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 4/29/18 3:34 PM
If you have the ambition to complete an Ironman race, then you must get Training Peaks. It is the only app designed to capture, track, model and predict your future readiness for a race based on easy-to-understand metrics based on the stress experienced by duration and intensity. It all begins by establishing your thresholds for each sport, (swimming, biking and running). Each new workout is then assigned a Training Stress Score (TSS), in relation to your thresholds. One hour at full threshold produces a score of 100. Training Peaks keeps rolling averages of your TSS for you to capture how well you are doing in relation to your personal history over the past 42 days (the past 6 weeks) and the past 7 days. The 42 day average is called Fatigue, because it recognizes that your body remembers the work you’ve performed over the past six weeks. The 7 day average is called Fitness and it represents how fit you currently are. Your Form, or readiness to perform at your best, is the difference between the Fatigue, (42 day average), minus your Fitness, (the 7 day average). If you can remember these 3 concepts then Training Peaks can help you avoid injuries and help you to taper down to be ready for your best performance.

The functionality is exactly what we need to effectively communicate workout info and comment on it afterwards.
ehidalgo01's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 4/26/18 8:41 AM
I have been using TP for a long time and it is an useless app unless you are paying for the premium account. You didn’t need a coach a couple of years ago. You could simply use virtual coach to create workouts. They blamed it on technology. The app used to give you fatigue and other metrics, now you need the premium account.
NotAcceptingAnyNicknames's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 4/23/18 12:08 AM
I am a national class masters swimmer. Hopefully improving to world class. I am not really an endurance athlete that TrainingPeaks is designed for. However, TP makes it easy for me to plan workouts and track progress from season to season. For cycling and running with sensors, TP does a great job computing effort, TSS for a given outing. Swim workouts can be entered, with splits for the different sets. This is a manual process of course. It would be nice if TP computed TSS, equally well, from the intensity of each set, or even each split. Instead, the whole workout gets averaged together, even the warm up and warm down. Since this is a known improvement brought about by better fitness trackers, it would be good for TP to support those of us who don’t have that benefit yet.

I’ve maintained excellent fitness and identified sources of injury for the past two decades using the Training Peaks Premium service. The app gives me access to most of my data immediately after it is automatically downloaded from my Garmin. Immediate feedback is well presented and very motivating.

Great for newbies or vet, this the gold standard when it comes to organizing your training lifestyle. The coachs are top notch and a you can even make adjustments to a plan or even build a plan then export to a smart device like a Wahoo Element bike computer which will alert you when have an interval coming up. Arts&Ideas's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 3/1/18 11:11 PM
TP works. Tracking, planning even predicting fitness during steady, focused training is made sensible. Unlike Strava, Wahoo or Garmin (I use them all) TP correlates accumulated inputs, creating a set of personal fitness curves. The others just track day to day events. That said, the presentation of information — how data is made relevant and meaningful — caters a bit to engineers, data freaks and geeks. Users have to negotiate screens/pages in the UI built around an old school “dashboard” motif. This is not a dealbreaker — there is no other tool like it — but the limited page customization limits personalization. Even as the best of breed, geeky, blank or impersonal views of data pulls TP from an A to a B.

When working with a coach it’s convenient. However the interface is clumsy and not very sophisticated. Interface layout when reviewing workout details is limited. There is issue with seeing the final line when reviewing lap details..
wzest's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 12/12/18 11:12 AM
There is really no comparable platform for serious athletic training. Unfortunately, however, the companion app for iPad as well as the iPhone app are genuinely bad. For example, you cannot drag workouts around the rearrange them in the calendar view in the app - only on the website. Gestures are counterintuitive and unhelpful. You can, with the latest release, swipe left on a workout in calendar view to perform actions on it. But instead of giving you a choice of actions, it takes you to the usual editing screen immediately. This can also be accomplished by simply tapping the workout - so the swipe is completely useless and redundant. Everything about the app ignores the norms of good interface design and it also simply looks crappy and un-iOS-like. Finally, TrainingPeaks is unable or unwilling to respond to feedback or feature requests in a productive way and on a normal time scale, so it seems unlikely the app will every really improve. With all that said, I’ll continue to use the apps, because I will continue to use the TrainingPeaks service, since it is the best of it’s kind. If only the apps could match up!
woodsonjt's Review of TrainingpeaksReviewed on 12/12/18 11:12 AM
Been using TP since BEFORE the app. I was a charter member, and so happy to get rid of my spreadsheet! Can’t imagine training without it....I’ve been self-coached (until this year) and have found it the ONLY app on the market that adequately addresses the planning/coaching needs of an endurance athlete. I definitely can’t imagine how my coach could coach me without it. The TP crew does a great job of maintaining/evolving the product. THanks!

Purchased a training plan and this app is needed to follow the plan but it is not allowing me to login to the app. Not sure who to contact about this. Needs an update to fix this issue.

This is probably the best software platform to analyze workouts for triathletes.

If you work with a coach, TP is really the gold standard. It’s easy to use on PC or via app, is easy to dump workouts into from other apps with which you might record, and gives you so much data in various forms to comb through and analyze. I’ve enjoyed learning more about myself as an athlete through Training Peaks. My only complaint is that is is costly if you have to buy it yourself. But it’s worth it if you want to get to the next level!!

I love this app. It’s like my tri coach has an executive assistant to help keep me on schedule and up to date on progress. I seriously think I’d be lost without it. Two tri evens in the past two months and an Ironman in December. I wouldn’t be prepared without this app.

I used training peaks for my first triathlon, and it was really helpful. The weekly videos were super helpful and Being new to triathlon the plan took a lot of anxiety away. Highly recommend

The fitness/freshness/form equations are biased toward endurance events rather than shorter vo2 type events. But it’s still helpful to look at/understand your body. But most of all it’s super helpful for working with a coach.

I have used training peaks for years. Through many Ironman races, 70.3 Ironman and marathons. It’s the one pros use for a reason. Just can’t beat the data.

My first time using TP. My cycling coach uses the program. I really like it. The data, info, newsletters, etc. Had a bit of a learning curve and every now and then downloading via the app onto my Garmin doesn’t work initially. I would very highly recco it.

App description doesn’t mention downloading the app forced you into a paid “premium” service.

I am new to running so maybe this is not a fair review..but I am having a hard time getting anything to work or sync with my Garmin watch😞 so I have to do everything manually. And don’t see any charts or any other benefits for the money I paid😞 will update at a later date to see if things get better.
