There are plenty of free alternatives that give you all the features that this paid app provides. Every feature I’ve tried to use wants me to pay an annual subscription before using. Not really sure what the original $3.99 is supposed to cover.

I was hoping to find 1 month + workouts but they only have those for at home workout. There is a whole community out there at the gym who just want to be guided everyday. I don’t what to custom make a workout nor do I want to to spend everyday choosing from a set of available templates. I want templates that will load to my calendar and be set for the next 1 to 3 months with gym equipment guidance.

I’ve been using this app for about 6 years now. I Used to recommend this to all of my friends who were trying to get into working out or looking for a good tracking app. However, overtime this app has progressively gotten less user friendly and less efficient which has caused me to back track on any of my recommendations. Aside from occasional crashing, the issues I’d like to point out most are as follows: - Exercises are no longer in alphabetical order on the exercise list. I get that I can type it in, but this shouldn’t even be an issue in the first place. -Workout description fields don’t save what you enter -Custom workouts appear as “Unknown” - Even after paying, my workout is often interrupted by ads for premium membership, as well as “premium” exercises locking out on me. - When I start my workout, the exercise types aren’t specified anymore. For instance, “Barbell benchpress, Incline” just shows up as “Barbell benchpress” Many of these are small but it’s just more to pile on top of the years worth of terrible updates ripping this app apart. My complaints about those updates have been mentioned by others in plenty of negative reviews this app has received. Strange how the app I paid $0.99 for back in 2013 was vastly better than this dumpster fire that by now should be making the money to actually improve.

I love this app. It is exhaustive in the exercises it had in its library. I sometimes use it to find new ideas for working out a specific body part. The only thing I would recommend is that the display of available exercises is sorted by popularity as there are plenty of exercises that are very niche and hardly used by many users I suspect. But great app over all.

I had an issue with premium subscription. I was no longer able to use features that i had paid for. I had contacted tech support and after a few emails back and forth a solution was found. They restored my subscription and all is well. Problems happen and it is how the problem is dealt with that makes a good review worthy. Thank you to K.D. for ironing things out for me!!

Don’t waste your $4 because even after spending $4 they want u to become subscribers for more money or app is no good...

They changed the app so you now need a subscription to get custom workout, whereas before you just had to buy a one-off premium code. I just want my custom workouts - which I was already using - and none of the other premium crap. Now I can’t get them, and all my hard work is gone and they have my money. Whatever features you like in this app, don’t count on them being there in the future.

When I saw $3.99 to purchase the app, & nice features like custom workouts and meal plans I thought even if its basic it’s worth it. Instead I sign up and I’m given the opportunity to have a premium version now for a special price.. really? And I paid for? I skip it and everything costs, meal plan even being weekly. When there already is a free version of the app, what did I pay for? Nothing. Garbage. Don’t waste your time and money.

This app used to have an offline feature that allowed you to view workout plans if you were not connected to the internet. For those in the service when deployed, there is a good chance there will not be any service or internet connection. That was one of the key features to this app I liked. Also, the fact that before any large updates to this app you paid for the premium version of this app to then have to pay for a premium subscription is annoying.

I’ve been using this app for years. I hate the interface but it’s the best workout app I’ve tried so far.

To start with I wish I could give this app 0 stars because thats what it deserves!!! I installed this app during the weekend and got the yearly subscription. None of the workouts worked for me on my iPhone. Sometimes app would crash in the middle of the workouts, timing was completely off and the guided instructions sometimes were unrelated to the actual exercise. I contacted the app developer after two days and asked for a refund and they instructed me to request it via Apple. I did so, but no matter what description i put in the apple’s refund request form, I always got an automated message back saying that I don’t qualify for a refund. I contacted the app developer again and explained them that I can’t make Apple’s form to issue me a refund for your broken app and aksed them to step in and give me the money back. Sadly I never heard back from them again. Very bad app with an even worse customer service!!!!

I already have a fitness app that I use, GYMSTREAK is the best one out there, PERIOD, I only purchased this app (3.99) for the meal plans, HOWEVER, after purchasing it, I realized you can’t even use that portion of the app without signing up for an additional 9.99 per month membership... so you’re paying to get the app and then to use its features, total rip off

I have really enjoyed the app. It has helped me create and modify my workouts the way that would best help me. It also does a great job keeping track of the exercises.

What happened to the advanced workout routines, after the update, they’re gone.

I never had issues with this app before but now I find it frequently ending my workouts when I’ve not closed the app but merely switched to another app on my phone. Would be nice to be able to continue a workout that the user didn’t want to end.

I bought the app before it went free, been using it for years and now it’s become free and I need to pay again for premium? That’s pretty crazy

OMG!!! I’m so frustrated with this app. It will crash when I’m doing a workout resulting in losing my lifts and data regarding it. It has potential to be great but at the moment it’s not. Will be looking to get a refund on my purchase!

How can I listen to my iTunes or own music with this app?

Please release an update for supporting apple watch

Bought the premium membership, spent a lot of time building a custom workout that I used for them to update the app someone and remove my workouts. No I have no clue what I had put on there with my research. All that time wasted, for what? So frustrating. Didn’t work that great when I did use it

I usually don’t write reviews but the design of this app is so frustrating. I would guess most users using this app would create their own workouts instead of the predefined ones. However, every time I want to work out I have to: 1. Go to workout icon > Choose Gym > Tap on + > then choose my custom workout. WHY? I get that you’re trying to push your own content but this is MY APP. Why not present my own custom made workouts first? Why not have those on the home page? I feel like this app was built to meet business objectives but not for the primary advanced workout user. The rest of the app works well with some small kinks. Searching for workouts can be a pain due to all the extreme variations they have for them. Finding a basic bench press can take a while to find with all the different variables.

Great variety of exercises, good examples of how to do them, nice choice of workouts... But one huge problem. The app doesn't load the exercises. As one who works out in the morning before work, waiting ten minutes for something to *maybe* load just isn't in the budget. I'm already behind several days on my 12 week plan, simply because I couldn't wait for the app to work. So for this reason, I can't recommend, so don't bother with this one.

The Facebook integration seems to be broken and hijacked my phone by failing and retrying to share in an infinite loop. I had to do a hard reboot in order to use my phone. Then I tried to tell them about it on the Contact Us of the webpage and get a “failure” message when hitting submit.

Love the app, it's almost perfect. My only gripe is that workouts "close out" if left idle in the background for a while, with no ability to resume them. For example, if I receive a 15-minute call in the middle of a workout and later return to the app, I can't continue where I left off, forcing me to start a new workout. Could you please add a resume functionality for workouts?

Only issue is that the app size can grow quite large. Everything seems to be synced to your account so I’m wondering what is taking up so much space. I simply deleted and reinstalled and all my workouts and logs were still there. I’m guessing the initial logs are created locally but if the app is automatically syncing to the account, why isn’t it optimized like all other apps to get rid of the redundant data after so much time to free up space?

Great app with great workouts along with meal plans. Needs to be Apple Watch & activity ring compatible since it’s already compatible with health app. This will greatly improve fitness tracking along the way!

Great app if you are looking for new exercises to target your muscles. Lots of exercises for all muscle groups using multiple body weight and equipment.

I love this app, it gives me motivation and a plan to follow, its line working out with soneone👍👍👍

Love this app. It's better then the old fashion note book and pen. Tons of exercises and workout programs. Great for the novice and expert. I'm keeping this app for the rest of my life.

This app used to be great before all of the extras they want you to buy. The app has been dumbed down to the point it’s a confusing mess and not accurate. I choose body weight and type in chest and the results are all hamstring stretches. It used to have a much simpler and accurate search engine and ways to record the exercises. This is currently garbage compared to the original way.

Paid for the premium but I still get pop ups telling me to upgrade to premium and then gives me a can’t fetch error message. Not sure why I am getting only the free features when I paid for the premium version

Loved the app because it was reliable and easy to quickly navigate. New nav is way too confusing and takes too many steps AND. images don’t load consistently so left with lots of white space. Thinking about moving on to another app

I used to like this app before. But now It seems like all they care about is making money off you. The app used to be well structured you used to be able to choose what kind of workout you want whether you wanted to use weights or not. But now it seems like every time you try to open an option to workout you have to pay for it. WHERE ARE THE FREE WORKOUTS THAT I USED TO USE THAT WERE EFFECTIVE FOR ME AND WERE FREE OF CHARGE? This app is sinking because they are too concerned about making money off everyone that downloads the app. I wouldn’t be so mad if I didn’t like his app before but now it’s ridiculous how money hungry they have become. If I had 10 thumbs I would give it ten thumbs down.

waste of money. suckered me into paying 30$ to get the lower body workouts and let me tell you this app is dumb af. the workouts are randomly generated and make no sense. they dont give you an overview of what the plan is or anything. its just random exercises that pop up with little videos. no way to look at the entirety of the workout before you start. makes gathering necessary equipment difficult. this whole app is a con to get you to pay for it before you actually use it. my advice don’t bother, but if you wanna see what its about DO NOT PAY A CENT BEFORE YOU TRY A FEW WORKOUTS. they are reallly worthless.

I am looking for a product that gives me a pre made list already for the Fitness level I am trying to engage in. Other apps give me a day to day change of plans and helps me in preparing for the gym so I don’t have to waste time trying to program my own circuit. It looked like that was the case from the photos but it’s not. You still have to find everything. Waste of $30

What happened with the last update? I enter food and it disappears! Meals I eat earlier in the day just vanish or they seem to be hidden somewhere, or today when I put in a new entry it doesn’t log it at all. this aspect of the app is pretty much no longer functional. Please fix it. Fix it now! Thank you

It’s a good app don’t get my wrong but the fact that it bugs out in the middle of a routine drives me crazy. I loose my workout when it bugs out.

You pay just to pay again. There should be some kind of free trial so you know what you’re getting into AT LEAST. Ridiculous waste of money.

I downloaded because of what it advertised. It’s so s***** you get little to nothing paying the $3.99 and then you have to pay $30 for the stuff they asvierrised! Such a rip off and a complete waste of money

Mostly works fine but about once a week the workout I have in progress gets lost and I lose 60-90 min worth of workouts Very frustrating But when it works it’s pretty good Getting data out is okay but one individual workouts in the output are not separated so bulk downloads are worthless

This could be an awesome app... a few issues im having. 1 the search is terrible... i will type in a food and search and it will say not found , but if I type in one word it will find the food but it will have the same words that the first search didn’t find. 2 one protein drink labrada premade shake it said couldn’t find... once I scanned the label it found it... but after i logged it then next time i selected it but only used half a serving but it wouldn’t let me change the serving. These are two big ones... I really am impressed with this app with all the features but these things need fixed. Ive been comparing to myfitnesspal which works great but has less overall features.

I purchased the premium features of this app. Recently i was prompted to “upgrade to premium” when trying to view the workout plan. Just for grins i selected the membership pop up and it said “you already are a premium member” but would not allow me to use the features still. I have reported the issue and rather than fix my issue my response was that they would offer a refund, which never came. So the app itself is ok but to the developers i give a big HUGE MIDDLE FINGER!!!!

It restarted on me 5 times in the middle of my workout. Every time it restarted the timer and eliminated the weight and reps I had logged. Incredibly frustrating. This problem has been occurring for months now and the creators of the app have done nothing to fix it.

terrible app. to get anything worthwhile you have to subscribe even after paying to buy the app. the app is also not formatted to fit the SE or 5s screen, so text goes off the edge. also many things just don’t work - the meal plan quiz exits and does nothing. it’s also just horrible looking - so much overlapping text so you can’t read it. what a mess! wish IOS did refunds!

I am really disappointed in this app. I had the free one and it was good. So I thought I’d buy the paid version thinking that I will benefit more but I was disappointed because there is not that much of a difference, in fact, if you want the real use of it you have to subscribe to a premium membership, which makes me wonder what’s the point of having a free and paid version when eventually you’ll end up subscribing to the premium which doesn’t make any sense to me Really disappointed!

In each new version they remove features and make things less intuitive. In the latest version they made it more difficult to access custom workouts and they now call all exercise variations by the same name in your list. So if you have 3 biceps curl variations, you have to click in to see which is which. Find another app, this engineering team is garbage. If it’s one guy, which is my guess, he’s the worst UX and Tester on earth and is so Arrogant he refuses to have others test his product. If it’s a whole team they need to replace their SDETs.

....every time you have an update for sure I’ll miss a feature or two... as in the latest occasion: I cannot edit reorganize the sequence of my custom workout... Why?? Put it back please!! And what happened to the thumbnails? Put them back please!! It doesn’t make sense that you remove features. It is not as intuitive.

I’ve used this app since 2014. I want to log my workouts and cardio, track my weight, and be able to look at a calendar to see how many times I’ve worked out this month. I don’t want to share this information, and trust me no one wants to know it but me. Please stop taking a good app and making it progressively worse.

The newest update is causing me to delete this app. It is too focused on forcing someone to buy the app instead of simply using it to monitor weights and reps. I’ve used this app for a couple of years now and paid for the monthly at one point but didn’t see the utility. This update made it very unappealing and illogical to record workouts.

It’s a little harder to drill down to exercises. Also, some pictures don’t match the label, ie underhand vs. overhand. I lost all my history when I switched phones so I’m checking out other apps. Also, no box jump equipment.

Worse interface and the workout list wastes WAY too much white space for app chrome ... And oddball changes like having to dig deeper to get exercise history and graphs. And can't just move from weights to reps fields like in past version either. 😑

This app has it all. It give you workouts for the gym, for at home, for no equipment, for all equipment. It not only has visual instructions for each exercise, it also tailor makes workout routines for your individual fitness level & fitness goals. It includes meal plans & so much more. Well worth buying the full app.

Great app, I just wish they had an Apple Watch app. I don’t like taking my phone out to follow the workouts while at the gym. I’d rather use my watch to input weights and follow my program. Other than that it’s a great app.

This is a pretty decent app, but after the update I can't add my customized exercises to my customized workouts. Other than this, it's pretty descent.

This is a good app, but the most recent update removed some features and is a bit less user intuitive. In the previous version, the user could adjust a custom workout we created. Usually, a newly-created custom workout appears at the bottom of the custom workout page. In previous versions, the user could move it to the top so as not to scroll through their entire custom workout list to see their latest workout. The latest update removed that feature (or if it is still there, it is not easy to find). Please bring back this feature. Additionally, the app used to have a daily step counter but that feature was also removed in an earlier version. I found that feature particularly helpful. Please bring that feature back as well. One feature that would be nice to have is the ability to write notes on the specific exercise when building a custom workout (e.g., “first set toes in, second set toes out, third set toes straight). Currently, there is a way to take notes AFTER completing a SET but the ability to provide notes on the overall exercise while building a workout would be most helpful.

I have used this app for a few years now. It used to be a simple easy to use fitness tracker. It in the past few updates this company has been acting like a crazy stalker ex girlfriend. You cannot open the app without being harassed about "going premium" for 9.99 a month or whatever the price is. Stop asking me to go premium it's not going to happen. I don't need or want to share my progress with others. I don't need cloud backup of my workout history. All I want is for it to stop asking me to go premium. I even paid for this app I'm not a freeloader but apparently a one time payment isn't good enough for this company. They want 9.99 a month 1/3 the cost of my gym membership. Every month so I can be social.

New update is terrible. Cannot add custom exercises. Save exercise button does not work.

I have the original Fitness Buddy app which is sitting in my purchased locker but they won’t update the compatibility. The version app I have is a legacy version where everything is unlocked. There are no subscription/ in-app bull shat anywhere to be found making the app a pleasure to use. This new version pushes customers towards paying monthly $9.99 for basic shat you can easily find on google. I have no respect for company’s that prioritize profit without morality. Shame and I hope you m**** burn in app h*** for this shat. BTW eat a 🍆

Used this app for about 3 years now and the newest update made me angry. The method of filtering exercises with the bubbles is not intuitive and takes some time from the workout. Additionally custom exercises can not be added to workouts. Finding a way to include supersets other than writing notes would be beneficial.

Thanks for wiping out all my existing workouts with your last update. Next time, do better regression testing.

I used to love this app. I recorded all my custom workouts and used a lot of theirs. Then they “upgraded” it and all the features I used to enjoy I have to pay for now through premium. I paid $28 to buy it and now you want more!? So disappointed.

The app is so great if you’re looking for body weight exercises or gym workouts. I’ve tried every exercise and I even love the diet plans for Intermittent Fasting or Keto.

Since I am introduce to this work out app since beginning using it and really help what kind type work out so you want to accomplish, easy to use it and work for me.

The app doesn’t do anything special. For the purchase of 3.99 I would have liked it to create a special meal plan for me; create a specific workout. All the app does is try to sell you more stuff. BOO! There are free apps that do what this app does but better and have more features than this app. DON’T DOWNLOAD!

Good app with a lot of information, in initial 3.99 versions is only good for a very basic surface look into the app. It is hard to get a good amount of information out of the app without spending 9.99 a month or 29.00 a year.

This app is great! I wanted an app that would “workout” with me and this one does exactly that. I do wish I could integrate all the info with my Apple Watch. Every time I do a workout it doesn’t show up on my Activity app, it doesn’t matter if I integrate the info with the Health app, it just doesn’t show up. I would love this because then I’m able to see if I’m pushing myself hard enough based on my heart rate. I would also be able to pause it or something on the Watch as well. I also wish I could select the equipment I have available in my gym and get a workout based on that. Please add more workouts with medicine b**** like wall b**** and ball slams. Thanks! P.S. Why do you have different options of this app available (but it seems to be the same one)?

Why the heck would they make you pay for the app just so you have to pay for a subscription! And on the app you really can not do anything! Waste of money!

I have been Fitness Buddy Premium user for close to a year and everything has been going fine until I ran into an issue with adding old workouts/workouts that I did without having the app with me. My issue is with the app support. The discussion board part of the support page has been retired and there only about 12 FAQs for this particular app which are not helpful. So I emailed via the app and received no response so a few days later I emailed via the website and have yet to receive a response. I really want to give this 5 stars because it is awesome but without the support and customer service to back it up, it only deserves 1 star.

Add database to computer so we can see workouts on bigger screen. Read burned calories from Apple Health and add it to calorie counting tracker to help us know how much more to eat for those of us who wants to gain mass. Otherwise, very comprehensive app! My favorite fitness app so far

Great app but needs full iOS integration. Workouts don’t show up in iOS activity unless manually entered with another app.

This app used to be better before all the ads and in app purchases. Just make it compatible with Apple Watch and heart rate monitor already. You say you care about customer reviews but you only update for minor bug fixes which ends up being more advertisements.

Half way through my workout it keeps crashing. This causes all my progress to be loss. Super irritating. I’ve been using this app for years, but I’m this makes it unusable.

It is literally a waste of money. I am a somewhat advanced level trainer and this app is laid out horribly and there are still constant ads to upgrade to premium... I thought paying $4 for the app was the premium?! Ripoff. I’ll stick with the ‘full fitness’ app that is free, doesn’t have ads, and is laid out much better. Luckily I got an iTunes gift card for my b day so it wasn’t my money I wasted. The whole reason I wanted this app was for the meals and you have to pay AGAIN for the meals. False advertising. Wish I could give zero stars.

Very good app. Would definitely recommend it to friends, but it won’t sync with the Apple Health app, no matter what I seem to do.

A way to log calories and I’m sick of restarting the app when I hit the lock screen on my phone and have to constantly find the workout or exercise all over again...

I love the app. If I have more time, I choose more exercises. When I have less time, I can still find something effective to do that is beneficial.

I bought the year premium access when it was advertised as being on sale, but I was charged the full amount. I sent emails to support and reached out to their Facebook messenger account. No replies. I love the app, but I was duped into buying it for full price and no support will get back to me. I'm thinking of switching to a new app.

Add database to computer so we can see workouts on bigger screen. Add companion app for Apple Watch that counts burned calories and adds it to the calorie counter. Otherwise, very comprehensive app! My favorite fitness app so far

I’d give a 5 star rating if the developers would add support for the Apple Watch for workouts. In my opinion it would make sense because the Apple Watch has has the heart rate monitor which would help with calorie burn accuracy.

Can’t seem to get thru customer services... while getting premium WiFi went down and messed up the transaction. So I have 2 chargers for premium. Only need one. Can I get a contact number? App it’s self it’s great. Really helpful

This app has workouts and meals, little videos even but it would be nice if it was smarter at working with the watch and syncing with health.

Totally love this app. Used it while deployed on a MEU and it worked wonders.

Would of given it five stars if not for some glaring problems. The exercise catalog is huge, which is great but the search feature is absolutely useless. Rarely when you search the title of the exercise you want to log does it come up, even when you type the title verbatim the way it is in the app. The app also frequently locks up while in use ending you current session forcing you to state a new one because you can’t go back and continue a finished session.

Would be a great app but every single time you open a different app it logs you out and starts your time over like you just began your workout. Extremely frustrating. Happened to me 4 times today during my workout. It’s been a problem for months now and either they don’t know about the problem or they don’t care. If it’s not fixed soon I will be using a different app to log my workouts.

I reported bugs many times, but the latest bug has me thinking that I need to stop using this app altogether. First, it was great. However, the first bug was random crashing. The second bug was suddenly not being able to share my workout (which, for me, is a huge part of the motivation to show my supporter how hard I’ve been working). The third bug was crashing AND LOSING any workout data I had during the crash time. The fourth bug, the final straw, was today when IT DIDN’T EVEN TRACK MY WORKOUT!! I spent over an hour and updated my heartbeat (which is the only thing it tracked) after every set. Now, my motivation is very decreased and my calorie count is off. I recommend saving the space and $2 by downloading an app that won’t fail you.

Helix test has been finished for over a month, this app still doesn’t have the data available.

This app does not sync with a calendar and if you are looking to build out a routine in advance this is not the app for you. I purchased the app last night and have since found out there is no way to get refunded for the subscription.

It’s fun to use and easy to use and with challenges ahead. I Like The three times per week schedule and variety in the workouts.

While this app tries really hard, to anyone experienced it just realllly falls short. No where near worth $30 a year.

To get recipes, more money.. to get a workout plan, more money. This app has recurring fees and tries to extract as much money as it can with minimum workout benefits.

I am not sure why i cant use Premium Features. I can not buy any Premiun content.

I have been using this app as an alternative to going to a gym. I really enjoy the variety of workouts and the choice of equipment and muscles to work out. I also really enjoy the pre programmed workouts already for me... I run a lot so my favorite is the stretching workout. It is worth the money for the larger package.. it is less then the gym... You do have to be somewhat knowledgeable about exercising. There are some exercises that I should not do. Know your limits!!!

Free version is pretty good. I have tried a few and this has been by far the best.

So it’s a well designed app and I like it except for one thing that’s really bothering me. The rest feature between sets weirdly goes off and is super finicky, I wish there was a feature to switch it off honestly or at least turn of the beep or setting that quiets my music when it goes off. Like i wanna use this app but that little bug or feature really gets me.

I have used this app for two years now. I love it. It records my work outs perfectly. But slowly over the years it has gotten worse at crashing. It is literally the only application that crashes on my phone. Even after completing wiping my phone. Even after getting a new phone. This app continues to crash all the time. It is also the only app that I have ever paid for. So for $30 I am very disappointed. Please help. It is useless now.

I wasted $3 purchasing this app and $30 signing up for the subscription(the sign up made it seem like they were billing me $2.50 monthly but billed me for the entire year). This is a very basic workout app. I have to type in all my own exercises because they do not have the basic exercises in the system, i.e. basic pull-ups, dumbbell lateral raises, upright cable rows, etc. Even the full workouts are very basic and though you inform the app what you are looking to do(build muscle, lose fat, maintain), it does not offer any type of recommendations or plan to assist you.

Love this app for designing a workout and then logging my performance. It also times the workout to help make sure I get some cardio benefit as well.

Spend money to buy the app just to find out I have to upgrade to get more.

Love the app but can you remove the feature where it automatically checks the “Log” box after I enter a new weight or number of reps? I’ll check it when I’m done actually done. Sometimes I want to enter new weights before I complete the exercise.

Search feature is broken and constantly asked to buy a subscription for an app I’ve already paid for.

I paid for the app. Paid for the extra exercises. Now it expects me to pay for a monthly subscription. If I had known I would have never paid for the extra or even the app. The app is too busy and yet seems scattered. You have to poke around to get to where you want to be. Also if I say I don’t want to upgrade I don’t want to upgrade. The contestant harassing is making it one step closer to having been deleted on my phone. That is why I have given you one star instead of the two for the app.

Waste of money. The app simply includes almost nothing with the basic 2,99 plan, just a few exercises. Don’t be fooled by this trash

Paid for the upgraded version, now it wants me to "upgrade the upgrade". Can't get a workout in without the annoying prompts to go premium. Some workouts are not available now since they were moved to the premium section.

Since the latest update, while completing a custom workout I cannot go into exercise details and history.

I have been using this app for about a year now and never had any trouble until the last little while. The app keeps kicking me off while I’m in the middle of my workout. Will give 5 stars when this is fixed

They keep messing with this app. I do not consider daily “steps” a workout. This throws off my tracking ability of actual workouts. They need to give you a way to turn this off, it is worthless.

Last year this app use to be my go to when it came to tracking workouts with its extensive library of handy tutorials and seamless UI. Now it’s riddled with useless ads and promotions, constantly crashes, and awful interface when you simply just want to keep track. Don’t waste your money.

This app is great for a quick focused workout!

As mentioned a few times, the app crashes during custom workouts and in order to properly track your history, you have to manually merge two or three separate entries due to multiple crashes during the same workout. It is inconvenient, for example, to have to try to restart the app during a 1-minute rest period and ensure you are following through with your routine from the previous session. Additionally, to do so you’d have to manually search through your history due to the crashing.

The free version is just enough of an app for them to promote their monthly subscription plans/full version of the app to you, it’s actually really annoying.

Cool app

Now they won’t let you look up exercises without entering your email or link to your Facebook, enter all your info including Birthday, weight, height, body fat and more! Don’t expect to use this app in a hurry, you have a LOT of set up to do first and it won’t let you skip it! There is also the constant bugging to get you to buy the premium app. Avoid!!!

Charged me $2.99 for an app that contains nothing. It’s the same as the free version which also has nothing but requirements to buy a subscription service. Why charge $2.99 for an app and give nothing but a requirement to pay more money to get something. Wish I could get my money back.

Update: 12/17/17: App is still a load of sh*t. Can’t even get through a single workout without it crashing. I've been using this app for years now. I bought it years ago. The new company that owns it now are annoying. Notifications 2-3 times a day trying to get me to 'upgrade to premium.' If I wanted to upgrade the app, I would have. It's bad enough I paid the money years ago to get full access to it, it's even worse that I still get ads after PURCHASING the app. This app is a far cry from when it started out. I cannot recommend this to someone anymore.

I’m a paid member, when I tried using the app again today it’s changed. Before I could see my profile first and on the top left I could just click on it and add the food and in the middle has my activity for the day? What happened to that?

Fitness buddy has done so much for me & it can do the job for others as well.

From a 5 star app a few years ago to nothing but a cash grab 1 star. “Locked workouts” in custom, pay pay pay, constant spamming of the join premium thing. I used to recommend this app when it was simple and useful. I know they sold out to Underarmor or whatever but yeah. Don’t waste your time.

This would honestly be a 5 star app if it reverted it to the way it used to be.. I hate how the workouts are generated now. We can’t even actually SEE the workout when we select it. There used to be workouts defined for different categories such as “full body 1,2,3. Upper body 1,2, etc.” But they removed it for a less intuitive, auto workout where you can’t even actually view the plan for the day.

I love this app. It is exhaustive in the exercises it had in its library. I sometimes use it to find new ideas for working out a specific body part. The only thing I would recommend is that the display of available exercises is sorted by popularity as there are plenty of exercises that are very niche and hardly used by many users I suspect. But great app over all.

Forces you to always share your location, not from me, I’m deleting the app

When this app works, it's great. Too many bugs with each update has made it useless. Leave the app for any reason and it stops your workout. Open up precious sets, then app freezes on a map. Junk now. Glad I didn't pay for premium. Also, too many social media prompts. I don't want to share my workout or be friends with all the random people sharing info on this app. No way to turn off this feature. Update: 12/12/17. This app will just up and quit mid workout. When I restart it starts my workout from the beginning. I’m looking for a replacement. DO NOT PAY A DIME FOR THIS APP.

The exercise search option is useless. You can put the name of the exercise in verbatim and still have the vast majority of all the exercise to sift through to find the one you want. If adding individual exercises in manually while working out, the app will lose it’s mind and start giving pop ups of random exercises. This is also a paid app that you don’t get all the features unless you pay for a premium subscription. In the calorie counter you don’t get the micronutrient breakdown unless yo pay for premium; this is free with the Fitbit app.

This is a great tool to track weight lifting progress but does anyone know how to edit a body weight goal? I've clicked through every link, and I can't find it. The interface is improved with the most recent update, but it is still a bit clunky. It's not super easy to create and save your own workouts and exercises either.

I would give this app a negative rating if I could. The app restarts many times in custom workouts, which messes up your history. Unfortunately I’ve paid a premium price for a c***** app. I’ve been sending bug reports for a couple of months with no return response. Don’t buy this app until they fix the bugs.

First app I have ever encountered that had a subscription AFTER I paid several dollars for the base. I expected a one time fee for enhanced content in a payment model like this. I've never seen a paid app with an additional HEFTY subscription price. This app may be great for some, but I found it to be way too busy. Too comprehensive for my needs. Spent more time locating what I wanted than actually using. I can see how it would work for some, just not right for me.

This app used to be amazing and I customized workouts on it all the time. The new update really messed with the system and switching to the premium account was the biggest waste of money.

The diet test doesn’t work at all, nothing happens after I finished the test. Custom workout program is buried so deep. And many other basic problems

I’ve had this app for many years and as they update it seems to be less user-friendly. The most recent update caused the exercise name in workouts that are custom exercises to no longer be visible unless you start the workout and then click on the blank space. Please fix!

This app would be 5 stars if it was compatible with Apple Watch. Hope it’s in the works... otherwise going to have to use an app that is. Highly recommend for those who don’t mind it not being on Apple Watch. You can make your custom workouts or follow already programmed workouts. Love it...get it on Apple Watch please!

November, 2017: I still love this app but have started using Gymaholic to track my weight training. This is because my fitness buddy doesn’t have An Apple Watch app. The only thing I don’t like is having to take my phone out if my pocket at the gym between every set to log the exercise. If they had an Apple Watch app, I wouldn’t have to do this. I miss this app already but I want to use my Apple Watch at the gym, so I’m parting ways with this app for now. I emailed the developer a very nice compliment weeks ago asking if they were developing an Apple Watch app and never received a reply. You should really reply to your paying customers and not just ignore their emails. :-( The app has also started taking 8+ seconds to load when I open it up after the phone locks. This is incredibly annoying during workouts. I’m dropping my review down to 2 stars now since the developers don’t seem to care or respond to emails that I’ve sent them. I’ve purchased another app just for weight training (Gymaholic) and it’s a better app for weight training. It also has a great Apple Watch app. Thanks for everything, Fitness Buddy. Best wishes & I wish we could have continued our relationship. September, 2017: I've been using the premium app for about a year now. I started out with home body weight resistance exercises and recently graduated to the gym and a 6-day custom weight training+cardio routine. I've also been tracking every calorie that I eat, my heart rate (resting and exercising) and using the "overtraining test." I am 100% satisfied with this app and I'm still probably only using 50% of the features. I will happily renew my annual premium subscription every year because the app has changed my life. I've lost 80 pounds and I have muscles where before I only had flab. I am so grateful to the developers for producing such a fine piece of software and making it available at such a reasonable cost. Long live my fitness buddy!!!

This app is unreliable and crashes almost every time I use it, especially when entering body weight. It’s gotten to the point where I’m going to have to look around for something else, an app that isn’t going to quit on me all the time.

The apple watch has become such a huge part of my workout routine and now with lte cellular connection, maybe a well made apple watch app to complement the app itself would be amazing. Had to start using UA Myfitnesspal to easily track my calories. Would love to come back once the app it intigrated with the watch flawlessly. Rep counter for the workouts and things like that

I been using this app for awhile now. And it has become my stand alone workout/ health app of choice. All around packed with everything you need. I use the calorie counting and the sleep tracker daily.

....every time you have an update for sure I’ll miss a feature or two... as in the latest occasion: I cannot edit reorganize the sequence of my custom workout... Why?? Put it back please!! And what happened to the thumbnails? Put them back please!! It doesn’t make sense that you remove features. It is not as intuitive!!

The Top rated workout choice will not let you pass the screens asking for some vital information. It looks like the screens are too big. I can’t scroll down to answer more of the required questions, hence, the continue button is disabled.

I made the mistake of blindly purchasing a year subscription for this app based on its great reviews and found it to be a scam. The app barely passes as functional. The layout makes no sense and the “personalized” workouts seem to give you pretty much the same workouts no matter what goal you choose. I have no idea how this has so many good reviews unless they are fake

I’ve been subscribed but I’m done with this app. Awesome at first but I can’t even access the app offline when I work out..

Although the app had great features like meal plans and customized workout plans, when it comes to the workout plans there is room for improvement. The plans given are mostly body weight exercises. My suggestion is to do a questionnaire that will determine if either body exercises or gym based exercises (with equipment) best suit your particular preference. The. Based on that formulate a workout plan. If this upgrade were to happen it would really take the app to a whole new level.

The graph that tracks your reps and weight is no more. This makes this app worth a h*** of a lot less to me.

When I first got the app it was just a helpful guide on which exercises I needed, and life was good. Now, you can’t get to the guide without giving the app access to everything, logging in, have reminders set etc. Please don’t spoil the app by forcing things on me I don’t need or want. I was happy with just the simple guides...

I have an iPhone 8 with the latest operating system and the latest version of this app, yet even on my fiber optic home internet fitness buddy is painfully slow and frequently crashes. At the gym for lunch, I have had to completely give up using it because the load times for its custom workouts take several minutes (10 whole minutes one time!), and the app has to stay open for the workout to load. Paying 24.99 a year for this app simply is not worth it - I deleted and re-downloaded, and have reached out to support, but neither have helped me out at all.

Great exercises, so-so recipes with crazy ingredient ratios (i.e. more milk and breadcrumbs in the turkey meatloaf than there is turkey), but what I can’t stand about it is that it doesn’t sync with my apple watch workouts. I suddenly need to change over to their platform and start over. Data cannot be exported. If you are working with a trainer, good luck getting printouts of your meal plan and exercises. They will have to get the app, too. I asked for a subscription refund after four days. No word on whether or not I blew $40.

I used to love this app - now it won’t let me login unless I enable location services. I just use this for tracking weight training so there’s no benefit to me for enabling the service. Disappointing

But for the past couple months, I can no longer check my exercise past/progress (charts, etc) when I click on an exercise in the custom workout setting, nor will it show any tutorial on how to do the exercise. I’ve tried loading new exercises and reloading the ones already saved in my custom workouts, but the problem is still there. I use this feature a lot, so would love to see a fix!

Few bug fixes and it could rule the roost

I use this app all the time. I like how it allows me to develop my own custom programs. And if I don’t feel like coming up with my own, there are plenty to choose from. I would like to see them develop more female oriented metabolic functional movement programs for serious athletes.

App is broken. Requests more permissions than I'm willing or even physically able to grant. I do not want the app, or even my iPhone, directly tracking my step count or anything and none of that is required for me to view weight lifting exercises for specific muscles, which is why I bought the app! I want a full refund. Privacy creep is awful.

The app is awesome! I have the premium version... unfortunately, until the issues with the app continuously crashing gets fixed I will have to give it one star!!! It’s a serious problem when I’m in the middle of my workout and I can’t get back into my workout because the app crashed so I have to restart.

Steer clear of this app/company. Downloaded and purchased Premium membership the same day. I accidentally deleted app while cleaning out folder. No biggie I THOUGHT. I re-downloaded the same night under the same login/email. Premium options were gone as if I was a basic user. I made MULTIPLE attempts to contact support via online “Help Desk” submissions. Unlike ALL OTHER online help supports I have utilized - they do not generate ANYTHING that is emailed back to you showing they received an online submission and are looking into whatever your issue is. I made 3 more submissions online throughout the week. FIVE DAYS LATER I received an email from Natalie Silver asking for the email I signed up with which WAS in ALL the “Help Desk” submissions I made. I responded with requested info and NEVER heard back via multiple attempts within the direct email response chain NOR by yet MORE submissions using their online “Help Desk.” After reaching out to Apple Support I was refunded my purchase. Really, REALLY disappointed.

I wanted to give this app the max rating but one issue made it useless at least for me with iPhoneX. When you see workout list and you press start workout you see another screen with exercise name and you can record sets and weight but if you want recall how exactly the exercise is done it doesn’t show video you have to remember the training name and how exactly done before you click start workout ... schedule of programs also very lose not as real Trainer can do in daily basis until you advance , good work though

With the exception of the constant subscription nagging (which I don’t need), I love Fitness Buddy when it’s working properly. Can’t view exercise examples during a custom workout for the last two versions. Seems to me like that fix should be a priority instead of making sure the nag screens work properly.

This used to be a great tracking app that showed the basic exercises and you could easily build your own routines. The changes made make it look more appealing and I’m sure the features are great for people looking to buy a program, but it’s lost its core functions and is terrible for customizing your own workouts.

Specific problems that need to be addressed: * During a workout I can no longer tap on an exercise to see/review how to do it, or access the info on muscles targeted and personal history. This is critical for those of us trying to target (or avoid) certain muscles after an injury. This has been broken on the last two updates. * Need a way to turn off the rest interval/timer alarm feature. I don’t use it, and it’s very annoying to have my phone making random sounds at the gym EVEN THOUGH MY PHONE IS MUTED. In general this app, which I once would have rated four stars, has become more difficult to use since its major UI redesign. It’s bloated with social media connections which, while I’m sure are helpful for some users, I will never use—it would be nice to have a setting to opt out of having to constantly click past them. The app is much harder to use, and extremely non-intuitive. But I will admit the colors are much more attractive since the redesign.

Why do this app need location service to provide fitness exercises? With our providing this information this won’t let me use the app. So I am deleting this app. Previously this didn’t had that option.
