Then I realized there where two different versions and I was so confused like "Why? They just need to change the locations of certain things" I bought it anyway and I can say this app is DEFINITELY AWFUL. 1)There so little brushes?? I couldn't find a single brush to flatcolor my drawings because the inking brushes are too small and I don't want to use the paint brushes 2)Drop tabs hide things: One things for certain and it's that drop tabs aren't the answer to everything, they could be really annoying and it makes things harder 3)It's too simplistic, simple for art apps is and will always be the wrong idea. It's hard to find things if everything is simplistic. Well yeah that's why this app is bad.

Then there are some issues with color changes and drawing a single straight line (which I confirmed after reading another review). But most importantly, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE UNDO AND REDO BUTTONS!? If they still exist, my bad. But it should not be this difficult to find them if they do still exist, so there’s still a problem. Then again, if those buttons truly have been removed: WHY!?!?!? Why would you make me completely erase something with ridiculous accuracy? It’s so easy to make an accidental mark. For literally any reason. Someone please tell me what’s happening here. Update: I finally figured out that the undo is now a two finger double tap. Which is convenient for the most part, until I accidentally do it, then there’s no redo! Also, I should NOT have had to google how to do that. There should be something in settings or help or whatever with a guide for all the shortcuts. So I’m bumping it from 2 stars to 3.

Reviewed on 8/3/18 3:23 PMI've never gotten along with drawing apps. They're always confusing, hard to use, and impossible if you don't have a stylus on hand. However, for the amount I paid, I'm highly satisfied with the ProCreate drawing app, and I plan to use it consistently from here on out. Not only is it fantastic for original digital art, but it's great for importing images of your traditional art and doing the linework and painting digitally. I can see how an artist with any level of experience would enjoy this app. While it took some time to get used to, it wasn't anything I had to go out of my way to search online for a solution. If there is something not so obvious for the new digital artist that I would note, is to make sure you use the layers function, as it really saved my a**. I mean hell, that's what it's there for da right? Another great feature of the app is the diversity of tools. I realize that there are probably far better programs and apps with a more wide range of functions and tools, however I found myself pleased with the customizability of the brushes, pencils, opacity, this that and the other. This being the case, I wasn't half as frustrated using it. My problem with these apps has always been "If you don't have a stylus, you're basically f**ked". However this wasn't the case for me. The zooming features and the ability to adjust the tools size and sensitivity to pressure really helped with my issue of always losing my stylus. I didn't need it as a necessity as much as I thought I might. All in all, I'm satisfied with the purchase I made, and it fits my specific intentions well. Would highly recommend.

I do have a few suggestions to help make this app the best it can be though, which I hope may be taken into consideration! 1. Layer Clipping. I have to say, this was the one thing that really disappointed me about Procreate Pocket. If this program added clipping, I would never need to use another mobile drawing app again! 2. Stroke Stabilization. Not a huge issue for me, especially considering Procreate is mostly meant for painting, but this would be a great feature to have. 3. Gradation. (I think that’s how it’s spelled, anyways) Again, really not a necessary feature, but it’s one I’d love to have! And that’s all! I hope the team will continue to add more content to this wonderful program in the future :)

Reviewed on 6/23/18 4:28 PMThis app seems pretty nice so far. I really like the option of brushes, and how smooth everything is. The only thing is that there could be many MANY improvements in this app. For one, I can’t seem to figure out to import photos. I like to import traditional sketches and pictures of my characters/oc’s. Second of all, there should be an option where you can type the number size of the brush Third; the fact that when I zoom out a little when I’m drawing it zooms the whole canvas out which is very VERY frustrating. Fourth; It should be easier to move a layer around and what not. It’s just so hard and frustrating to figure out how to move a certain layer, and sometimes by accident it completely stretches the layer, and it take forever to get the dang undo to work without accidentally drawing a whole bunch of dots all over your drawing. This app can use a lot of work. You should make a button in the corner to undo and redo things, because the finger tap just makes everything difficult, and I always accidentally draw dots all over my drawings when trying to redo/undo. Like in Ibis Paint, there should be a selection layer. It makes moving things so much easier! Like I said before, this app can use a lot of work. When you fix those inconveniences maybe I’ll fix the rating. ~Bean

A couple other drawing apps like IbisPaint are supporting the stylus and I’d love to have pressure sensitive drawing on my iPhone with Procreate Pocket. Update: I should specify that the developer is correct about Procreate Pocket having pressure sensitivity on iPhone 6s and newer phones. It works reasonably well too. But as a very tall person with very big hands to match having a more precise, pressure sensitive stylus optimised for use when I’m away from my iPad is something I’ve wanted for ages. I’ve tried other solutions and had mediocre results in the past. Perhaps the Apple Pencil on iPad has spoiled me. In any case, I’ll update again in July 2018 to let others know how the SonarPen works in Procreate and compare it with the other usual suspects (IbisPaint, MediBang, and SketchClub). If you have smaller hands, have had better luck with styluses that are currently on the market for iPhone, or happen to be a little less obsessive about your quick sketches than I am, then you may be fine without third-party equipment.

Finally the iPhone version of the app feels so much closer to the brilliant iPad app. I just want to thank Savage Interactive for all of the time and hard work no doubt put into making this version so much better and so much like the original version, I'm incredibly grateful for that. The new brushes are a joy to use, I can really tell that the painting engine has been updated, everything is so smooth, we actually have more canvas sizes, plus, you can create custom sizes finally and just everything about this massive update is absolutely awesome in my opinion. Plus, you can finally create custom brushes, which is so wonderful I think. And create custom brush groups and importing brushes is so much easier in my opinion. All of this is just like using the iPad version of Procreate but amazingly on my iPhone finally. Thank you so much Savage Interactive, I'm so grateful for all of this. I finally have a true and real painting app for my iPhone and, again, one that works properly on my iPhone 6 Plus. I just cannot tell you how excited I am about this new build. Thanks for giving this app the attention it needed and deserved and God bless.

Somehow it cuts more than 50% of my work, and it’s usualy the middle part. So it ends up stiching the beginning and ending into one piece.😒 And now it’s happening again in public version. Besides that everything else is just fine.

Reviewed on 5/21/18 11:00 PMI love this app. It has been my go-to drawing app period, even over photoshop. But with this new update came some good things and some not so good things. The good stuff: It's very customizable now with all the new brush types and settings. It all seems very intuitive. The layers button now allows you to continue viewing your work and seems a lot less buggy. The adjustments section also enjoys those same improvements. Another amazing thing is that you can now customize your canvas size, which is HUGE! The not so good stuff: With all the new customization they do not have an option to return the size and opacity sliders to where they were situated before the update. It used to be one of the most attractive things about this program. The ability to seamlessly change brush size with a simple swipe of the left thumb and then to change opacity with that of the right is simply brilliant. With this new change, the opacity and size sliders are a lot smaller now (which is a downside) and they are located on the same side of the screen. This turns what used to be an incredible strength to a really REALLY awkward handicap. I used to use those to sliders very frequently, and now I don't, and the drawing aspect of the app seems a lot clunkier because of that. PLEASE FIX THIS. It may not seem like a big deal but it makes a world of a difference. Have an option to return to the old sliders. Thanks for all you do! PS: If there is an option to do this, then please make it more apparent because I was messing with the settings for hours and couldn't manage to do it.

Whether doing quick sketches or plain-air of something you see that insures you, or a thumbnail of a composition that you want to record for later exploration, this app is perfect. With phones that have force touch, the slight pressure sensitivity makes it even better! The only thing I am a bit of frustrated about is two finger pinch usually happened while I accidentally touch the area on the left where the brush controls lies, in which case would cause unable to pinch and draw a line that I don't want. Consider every one has different painting habbit, some one like to paint in landscape mode, some are not. I recommend in the future update, you guys can implement the DIY brush controls position, let the user put these brush controls where they would cause the least unexpected action for themselves. Or if you guys would solve it in some other ways, that's good too.

I feel like I’ve had too high of an expectation from the iPad app to really see where the pocket version can shine but I cannot say that it would ever be a viable alternative to the iPad version let alone be some form of replacement. It’s lack of features that the iPad has like the extra drawing guides, liquify and quick shape are some of the biggest features that I would have really liked to have seen on Pocket, but sadly aren’t included as of making this review. I really want this app to succeed, but right now it’s simply unusable since I’m so used to the iPad version. I would also HIGHLY recommend some sort of cloud syncing if that isn’t already a feature so I can work on my projects across devices. Seeing as this isn’t an option right now from what I’ve seen, this is a huge b***** because It takes away one of the big reasons I wanted to purchase it in the first place.

Also the user interface is not very friendly. For adjusting stokes and opacity the buttons are halfway tucked on the sides which makes it annoying to have to tap on and adjust the size/opacity. The arrow to go back to other canvasses on the upper left corner is small and it took me hours to figure out that was the arrow to return to the main view and not an arrow for “modify”. Also for a paid app, it should have more features and utilize onion layers (unless there is a way to do this, then it is not very clear).

Reviewed on 11/12/18 3:29 PMI’m sorry to say that if you’re looking for a good drawing app, this is the wrong app. The way you draw lines is way too jarring and slow, while I was tracing an image, the lines do this weird thing where they automatically snap to something. Meaning you can’t do strokes and slowly have to draw every single line. The tool selection is missing some very important tools that would make drawing more easier and less time consuming than it is right now. There is no magic wand selection tool that allows you to automatically select blank areas that will not go through lines. And if you close the app to go back in, your selections will disappear, meaning you’ll have to select what you previously selected again. I had to trace carefully in the lines of my drawing just so I could start filling it with color, which brings me to the next problem: there is no paint bucket tool. If you wanted to quickly fill in large areas, too bad. You’ll have to go and modify a brush and make it huge, and then fill it in yourself. As for modifying brushes, it is a hassle to get the specific size you want by just using a slider alone. This would have benefitted if there was a feature that allowed you to type in the numbers so you can get the exact brush properties you want. As for the positives, the menus are very easy to navigate, and it is insanely easy to find what you need. Undoing and redoing is a snap, and being able to quickly change the size and opacity of the brush is nice. Otherwise I give this app only 2 stars. While it is very user friendly with its menus, it lacks some necessary tools in order to make drawing artwork faster, and easier. I suggest that you use this app for small artwork pieces, and loose drawings. It is not good for artwork on a larger scale.
