lindainspring's Review of Ipastels
Reviewed on 4/21/20 1:38 PMI have used pastels for decades and prefer this program. The colors are beautiful and so lucent. There is no mud as there usually is from my palms and fingers. I transfer these drawings to other drawing programs like Acorn and Graphic and also use them as backgrounds for my needlework pix. I also like to doodle to see what colors to use for a new project. You will not be disappointed with this program?

Reviewed on 4/21/20 1:38 PMI love the way this app behaves. Yes this needs to have more canvases, but now that layers are preserved it's fine. The touch sensitivity responds as if I was using pastel chalk or a pastel crayon! It's sleek and it's responsive. The other apps I've tried are too cartoony and look more like a video game. The developer is very responsive and replied to my questions the next day. I use this to play with ideas and concepts before I put it on paper. Downsides are low number of files allowed, but now that you can export the files while preserving the layers the limited files shouldn't be problem. Another thing I don't like is the limited canvas size, but it's in the works. I look forward to the updates, and I recommend this for aspiring artists, or those of you who like to doodle in their spare time (like I do).

Reviewed on 4/21/20 1:38 PMI have had this app many years, but had not used it. Every time I opened it up, I got "Empty Page Fright". Today, armed with more general knowledge of art apps, I drew for several hours on iPastels, and produced a pastel that I'm proud of. The choice of colors was excellent and the tools offered produced great results. Way to go @Norbyte developers!

Reviewed on 4/21/20 1:38 PMLove the feel of true pastels, but dislike the app's intrusiveness....it opens by itself every time I use my ipad...it should open ONLY when i open it. Fix that bug, and it would rate 4.5 stars from me. I should not have to constantly close an app i am not using.

Reviewed on 4/21/20 1:38 PMI have tried many art apps but so far this is the best one I have tried for drawing. It does a very good job of simulating pastels and can be adjusted for strength/opacity and for size/width and you can choose any color or hue. Also, you can use your fingers to smudge for shading, etc. So versatile and even a novice can use this app without getting bogged down by the app itself.

Reviewed on 4/21/20 1:38 PMI love this app I've tried every other painting or our app and so far this one is my favorite. The only recommendation I would have is to update an offer different types of brushes as well. It would be great if there were options when you're creating trees to do dabs on the canvas that are like dabbing a brush on canvas instead of just the circle.
