AnnalovesPanna's Review of PannaReviewed on 9/9/18 4:51 PM
I love panna- tried it out for a week and bought a lifetime subscription. I only tried one recipe but it won me over (the Parmesan cabbage salad). Love what’s here especially the classes from other countries. Hoping to see more from international chefs and cuisine in the future and a bit less fried and bbq meats since both of these aren’t as easy when you live in a city apartment :) I would recommend this to anyone - for a class you typically pay one or two hundred dollars, well worth investment.
Christina Lauren's Review of PannaReviewed on 8/4/18 1:44 PM
I really enjoy this app especially because of the short videos from respectable chefs. It’s been a week since downloading and though I haven't made any recipes from start to finish, I’ve applied some new (ohhh, that’s how you do it!) techniques on my regular home cooked meals. It’s worth noting that there isn’t a big library of recipes, so they may not have what your looking for if you have a certain dish in mind to make.
sec81's Review of PannaReviewed on 8/28/19 1:43 PM
Downloaded the app thinking it was a “free trial” only to discover it debited my account $212.49 right away. I couldn’t resolve it within the app and had to call Apple. Even the FAQs note this as a path. Why? But also I could not get it to work on my iPad. Every time I tried to look at a recipe a pop up refused to close or the app quit on it’s own. Sad because the video instructions with the chefs are actually quite good.
Energize79's Review of PannaReviewed on 8/28/19 1:43 PM
For a new app that was promoted by the Today Show, I must say it is a huge disappointment. When you choose ‘not now’ during setup the wheel keeps spinning and nothing happens.

Not impressed with this app, and feel it is quite expensive for the less than impressive content. I’ll stick with cookbooks in the future.

Rob Lateiner's Review of PannaReviewed on 8/28/19 1:43 PM
I’ve cooked professionally, which ruined cooking for me for years. This app is helping me fall in love with cooking again by learning from the best chefs out there. This app teaches technique in a way that no other does. I hope Panna continues to tap the best chefs around and generate new content. Kudos. Also, Michael Tusk is a legend and his videos are worth their weight in gold. The ability to access and learn from chefs that are not basked in mainstream media is unique to Panna and incredible! I would really like to see more videos from chefs like Michael Tusk who are experts in traditional French / Italian techniques that are not taught in culinary schools anywhere.

Hispeedzintarwebz's Review of PannaReviewed on 8/28/19 1:43 PM
I keep my phone on silent...read about this new app in bed with my girlfriend while she was asleep...downloaded it, first time I opened it, within a second or two it just starts playing some video loudly. Woke her up and startled me. Not good practice and should not be allowed in the App Store. Don’t plan to do anything else with this app. A cooking app is the last place I would expect to override volume settings, especially within seconds of launching it.

LeoNatan25's Review of PannaReviewed on 8/28/19 1:43 PM
Visually, it looks very unmaintained. Number of recipes is one number, then a different number of actual recipes. Steps show up incorrectly after seeking the video. Seeking also often makes the app hang and crash. Can’t really recommend. Haven’t tried the iOS app.

Been member for years! Great recipe collection but hasn’t added new ones in 2019. Also, lots are simple recipes like how to make a cocktail which could be googled and don’t belong in a high end subscription. Please step it up like your first years!
pannaphan's Review of PannaReviewed on 8/28/19 1:43 PM
The primary benefit of watching expert chefs prepare a dish are the little tips you pick up along the way. These nuances cannot be shared effectively in a written recipe. Panna makes it easy to assimilate the hidden knowledge of expert food preparation. Plus some of the chefs are genuinely entertaining. It’s fun!

Edit: I finally got purchases to restore after I updated iOS on my iPad. App has been working fine since then! If you have issues restoring purchases, check your iOS version and update it to the latest 11.x if it’s older than 11.1.z. Original review: I am a paying subscriber to Panna, and the app never allows me to restore purchase and access content I’ve paid for. This is on a 2017 iPad Pro, so it’s not an underpowered device. What a shame. I’ve reached out to Panna customer service about this via email, but the only solution they offered was to restore purchases, which obviously doesn’t work.

For the most part its a very good app. Extremely informative and the chefs that are featured are world class. If it were free, I would have no complaints but it isnt. So, 1) Editing gets pretty cringy 2) Most of the time, the viewer cant see whats going on inside of the pot/pan 3) Why is there no offline mode? 4) Search bar does not save previous searches.. 5) The app does not keep the user logged in once closed Hopefully some of these observations get answered. Love, Peace, and Chicken grease yall ✌️
Drummerboy41's Review of PannaReviewed on 7/14/18 11:08 PM
I love this app.. I’m an armature (ok, hobbiest) cook, and it’s been wonderful. I have had some great dinner parties with the recipes I’ve found in this app. But the best thing is the step by step video instructions. Yea, I probably could’ve found everything on YouTube for “free” but... this is a much easier (and better) way to cook for someone who loves food but needs specifics. Have you ever watched a YouTube video and been like, “yea, I maybe could do that, but.... what about this aspect?” Panna lays everything out so easily! I love it!
Spy8s's Review of PannaReviewed on 6/25/18 11:00 AM
I was duped into buying a whole year at once when I thought could pay month by month to try it out. Was charged $76 and I think the app is one of the least useful recipe apps out there. The quantity of culinary content here is incredibly disproportionate the price considering food network and epicurious are free. The quality of instruction is okay if you are really looking in instruction for the few classes that are here. Consider yourself warned.

They offered me a free 7 day trial and then one year membership for 50% off after that. Well, they didn’t give me a free trial and charged me for the membership right away. When I contacted their customer service, I got a response saying that I had already had a free trial in December because of a T-Mobile promotion, and that their system only allows one free trial per customer email. First of all, T-mobile gave me a class credit, not a free trial. Second, why do you offer a free trial if you can’t give a free trial. This is a scam. Stay away

Cycle-Dave's Review of PannaReviewed on 12/16/18 11:43 AM
Every time they update the app, I have to login again. I wish they would add 1Password support so I don't have to keep looking up my credentials. None of the links in emails I receive ever work. I get an email about an interesting recipe, click on it, and it opens the app but never lands on the recipe page in the email. It seems I always have to log in, and after logging in, it has forgotten the link I clicked on so I have to search manually. Same for cooking courses. The email/app interfaces do not work so the emails are useless. Once I get into the app and find a recipe I like, it's fairly easy to navigate and save recipes. But on at least one app update, all of the recipes I favorited in my account disappeared. So I had to look through ALL of the recipes again to re-save them. And lastly, some of the features don't work on my iPad. For example, scrolling to the bottom of the main page there are links to breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, etc. Not all of them work. Clicking on some do nothing. On my iPhone, they all work and take you to recipes grouped by relevant topics. Overall, the experience is just okay but needs a lot of work to iron out the bugs. I don't look forward to the next time my saved recipes disappear again.

I really like this recipe app with demos from top chefs, which also includes some video classes of a variety of cuisines. However it is very annoying, and I mean very annoying, to have to login every time. I do not remember my password for every app. I thought the whole point of this app was to log in one time, and one time only. I do not have to login for other subscription apps. So why can't Panna fix this problem?

Stu.jesse's Review of PannaReviewed on 12/1/17 9:25 PM
I have really enjoyed watching the videos. I learn things that are not in the recipe by watching and listening to the chefs. If you are not interested in learning this is not for you. It's not just about the recipes, that you can get anywhere. It's about watching, listening, learning, and trying yourself. Don't be afraid to take what you see and modify it. I read a low review by somebody that claimed the recipes were too salty. The most important part about cooking is tasting. Any good chef will taste and decide if it needs more salt before adding. So it's not perfect, you have to do you own tasting. If it's too salty, blame yourself. Stuart
Toddski310's Review of PannaReviewed on 11/5/17 12:20 AM
This is the first review for an app I have ever written, and it’s because this app is my favorite cooking app. The video instructions from the chefs that create the recipe is my favorite feature. The written instructions on how the pie dough should look pale in comparison to actually seeing how it should look like. Not to mention the recipes themselves are absolutely delicious! I’d pay the yearly subscription fee alone for the recipe for Salted Caramel Apple Pie and Yemenite Sabbath Stew. If I could give this 10 stars, I would.

At first I was apprehensive: another app that I'll have to pay for that I'll never use. BUT after making a few recipes (the perfectly-cooked NY Strip Steak, gorgeous miso-brown butter fish, pork-and-chive dumplings) this is really so much more than an app...it's worth every cent! The Panna chefs are actual CHEFS with knockout restaurants—they're a hard breed to pin down. And the videos are gorgeous. I can tell a lot of work went into making them. Most importantly, I've noticed I'm a better cook: I can fold dumplings. My steak's never overcooked. I'm a better cook than I used to be, and my kids are happy about that too 😜. Great work, guys!
Midgebrooklyn's Review of PannaReviewed on 11/2/17 4:37 PM
This app is fantastic. It's so far beyond tv shows and YouTube clips and even cookbooks. For one thing, it's all world-class chefs, no amateurs. The recipes are delicious, the instruction clear, and the app features are super elegant and easy to use. For instance if you want to skip ahead in the video to the hard part (like when the chef is whipping the egg whites to just the right texture), just click on that step in the written recipe and you'll hop right to that part in the video. Or the shopping list feature! Delete all the stuff you have already (butter, salt, etc.) and email what you need to yourself and head to the grocery store. Update: Am loving their autumnal fare and holiday stuff!

Great idea, love the videos, but impossible to really use. I keep being asked to subscribe even though i have a year’s subscription. Can’t access favorite recipes or see new ones although app confirms I have access for almost a year. No real customer service to contact. This app is a recipe for frustration!
LJ12's Review of PannaReviewed on 10/29/17 9:55 PM
I canceled my subscription just a few days into using the app because I did not like it. 3 weeks later, I was charged for the subscription - and don't even have access to the app! Waiting on a response to get a refund and also put in a complaint to PayPal. This is fraudulent Edit: I ended up trying the app since I was forced into the subscription anyway. The recipes are legitimately awful. Some way too salty - others bland - bacon in everything, when there shouldn’t be bacon. The recipes are incredibly challenging to follow, and tend to jump around a lot. Prep this, then jump to that, then reincorporate this. You’re switching from step to step rapidly. This would be great if you have an entire kitchen staff to delegate to- but not for one or two people to execute.

Geneddes's Review of PannaReviewed on 10/14/17 4:55 AM
This app is fine. I'm only interested in a minority of recipes, but that turns out to be quite a few. The videos is what sets it apart. If you need help with technique, this is the place. My problem is that they lost my subscription and I had to pay a second time to get many of my favorite, recipes back. I tried to contact Panna as well as the Apple Store. But no one was there to help. I don't like getting ripped off, and I am always suspicious that some day they will delete my account again. Judging from the other reviews, I'm not the only one that has had account issues. Too bad.
Cara Bobara's Review of PannaReviewed on 10/13/17 9:50 PM
It is likely due to my own naïveté but of course I did not see the fine print telling me I have to cancel my free trial to not get charged the $40 for an annual subscription. I really do not care for this kind of business practices as it feels deceptive to me. And of course, it is a final sale because they know how often this happens.

Panna makes it easy to follow along and organize your shopping beforehand. It’s convenient being able to plan a dinner for friends or just something for that night. The chefs do a great job about not making the recipes intimidating.
dojon's Review of PannaReviewed on 1/18/18 10:50 PM
So after taking chef classes I wanted to find more recipes for healthy dishes to cook and have my fiancé learn to cook! Not many here, it is all about 1000-2000 calorie dishes you should avoid even when eating out. They are all NYC chefs so they are pretty clueless to real world cuisine, which is definitely better here in Las Vegas or LA, it would be a wonder if they have ever made it out of the city. Any one with cooking experience knows the secret ingredient to making something "restaurant" quality is a dish high in fat or grease!
