This app has been abandoned by the developer. It doesn’t support the iPhone X screen size and according to an email I received there are no plans to update it.
CarLostForever's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I’ve used both MacGourmet (desktop and iPhone) for years and have relied on them for my cooking activities. In recent months the ability to sync the databases has gone downhill. Now I’m only getting about 60% of my recipes synced. Mariner has responded a few weeks ago that they’re aware of the problem but have done nothing to resolve it. Sadly I have to start looking for a replacement product.
stagsimon's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
How does this work? I have MacGourmet on my Macbook, down loaded this app and the apps don’t work together? Macgourmet/tools/iphone does nothing, there seems to be no way to sync my recipes to my phone Looks like they have their own ‘cloud’ YEAH WHO NEEDS ANOTHER CLOUD!!!! So I sign up for my own free account and then it says my email address is invalid! How do I save my recipes to my phone? Seems simple no?
tripm's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
This used to be a great app, as was the Mac version. I’ve been using some form of MacGourmet forever now. Sadly, the apps have not aged well and there seems to be no developer support anymore. This iOS app was last updated far too long ago and syncing has stopped working for me despite days of troubleshooting. I’m moving on to paprika.
dickc44's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I’ve been using MacGourmet (MacOS and iOS) versions for years and syncing between devices has been problematic for me: duplicate recipes, missing photos, etc. I recently purchased Paprika Recipe Manager and am enjoying it: syncs smoothly
GS1200-SE-Rider's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
Obviously they have stopped supporting this app. Sync doesn’t work and customer support either doesn’t have answers or they don’t respond at all. Why is this still in the AppStore letting people waste their money?
Greg S's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I have been using both the iOS and MacOS app for years and have really loved it. I have recommended it to my customers. But, over the past few months, the cloud sync function has failed. I rely on being able to easily add a recipe on my Mac and pulling it up on my iPhone at the store. Now, it simply doesn’t work. I have contacted them directly on their website and their Facebook page and all I get as a vague “making progress” response. If they ever fix this issue, I will come back and give a higher rating but, until this gets fixed (if ever), I have to recommend new users to stay away and save your money.
Wood441's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
Don’t waste your money on this program. Support is out the window. I have sent numerous emails wanting the sync feature fixed and all I get is the company puts blame on AWS services from Amazon. They say the problem will be fixed soon and after a month of waiting and excuses I will get another program. DON’T PURCHASE THIS PROGRAM!!!
Bubba Pat's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I’ve had this app for years on Mac and IPad and love it. I guess I’m lucky in that my syncs work great! Love pulling from my books and putting into the app then use it in the kitchen. I’m hopeful that this app won’t disappear.
PatH42's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I believe that if I had a company that was still trying to sell other software products I would either drop a product that is no longer supported or I would make an effort to fix the issues that everyone is experiencing with the syncing. I paid for my software and I am disappointed that they would lie to me about they thought they had a fix but it didn’t work when you can see that they have not updated this software in over three years.
FurBear's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I loved this program when I first started using it but lately, not so much. The biggest issue is with syncing. I've seen multiple write-ups here and on the Mariner support site complaining about the inability to sync between devices. My sister, mother, and I have all had the same issue. Mariner gives the same standard response about deleting and recreating the account and then trying to sync. That is a lazy form of support, and it's clear they have not investigated the issue. It doesn't work if the recipes are on an iOS device because the device WILL NOT recognize the new account, even when one tries a reset. I found the issue and work around last night, and my sister just confirmed it as well. If there is a picture attached to the recipe, regardless of device, IT WILL NOT SYNC! The only work around is to delete the picture from the recipe. Note that this work around works only on the Mac, as the iOS app won't allow you to delete pictures. I've notified Mariner of the issue on their support blog. Mariner needs to take user issues seriously and they need to put more effort into researching the causes behind the issues.
WillAWx's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
Sync between my Mac and iOS devices no longer works correctly. I lost pictures on all of my recipes on one device and the ingredients don’t come through on any recipes I have entered on either device now. They are aware of the problem but would not give me a timeframe for fixing the problem or how users were supposed to determine when it had been fixed.
SBtexas's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
One of the important things for me is the sync between the desktop and IOS app (Mariner Cloud)......sync quit working over a month ago. When I contacted Mariner, I was informed that issue was an “Amazon issue which we are working with their engineers”. Six weeks later, sync still not working. Update: Months later issue still exists. I’ve happily used this for years but guess it is time to change over to another app that actually syncs and will meet my needs.
Harvey Wallbanger's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
Of late, sync feature will start, first item on the progress bar will light up and then the program will crash. Very frustrating. I don’t want to have to edit a recipe on both the Mac and the iPad. Lord knows how it would resolve that if sync were ever to work thereafter. I like the desktop program and I like the kitchen display ability of the iPad, but they need to be able to talk to each other.
bjzgiznaz's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I want to love this app. My husband wants to love it, and it does allow us to share recipes. But it doesn’t keep a clean error-free database, it does not sync meal plans, lists, and links (anything but recipes, and those not clean with one version among devices), and I spend more time cleaning up its errors than adding new recipes. Error reports are met with “we’re working on an update”—for over a year. If we didn’t have so much invested I’d find another program.
DaisyFun's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
This App simply does not work! I have Mac Gourmet on my Mac and love it. However I am going to find another App that works and syncs. What a waste of time.
Woolora's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I’ve been a user of MacGourmet Deluxe on my desktop for many years. Also used the mobile solution before Gourmet for iOS and now Gourmet. Never had any problems with the desktop application. Gourmet will now no longer sync properly. Out of 325 recipes on my desktop, only 150 sync to my phone. Have worked with their product support but no solution has been found. For me, this makes the iOS version useless. It may work as a stand alone app but don’t plan on a smooth sync with the desktop version.
Lampornis's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I have been a user of the desktop and iOS versions of this program for years. The desktop version of the program still works well in spite of the fact that no updates have come for years. The iOS apps have been, and continue to be a disappointment. The cloud sync has never worked for me since Mariner decided to use their own servers (when I was able to sync via Dropbox or iCloud it worked fine). Now, nothing I delete on my desktop gets deleted on my iOS devices after a sync. When I edit a record I get duplicate records for the same item (both the pre and post-edit version). I have tried the standard delete everything and start from scratch instructions on the Mariner website without success. Mariner “support” could not solve the issue and about two years ago stopped responding to my requests. It is clear to me that they are milking this program for all it is worth before it is retired. There is no evidence that they plan to develop or truly support it any further. I would NOT purchase this program if you are looking for something to create a recipe or beverage database. One other thing that I find odd. When Mariner purchased the software they eliminated the user forum, which I always found helpful, and pretty much any means of contacting support beyond submitting a service ticket. Another clear indication that they simply want to minimize complaints.
cupcakes&tea's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
Like many others, I can no longer sync all of my recipes to my mobile devices. I’ve contacted customer support, have been told they’re aware of the issue, and, like others was given no timeframe and have heard nothing since the initial response. I’m not at all optimistic this is actually being worked on, which is highly disappointing, because I used to love this software and app. Please prove me wrong and release a fix.
Feta cheeeese's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/30/19 2:02 PM
I still us the Mac gourmet app on my Mac, and was very excited for an app that I could use with my iPad mini 5 in the kitchen. However the iPad app doesn’t work very well at all. I can see the list of recipes in the side bar, but if I select one, the screen is blank. The only way to get the recipe to show me anything is by selecting the chef hat. Not much point in the app anymore if I can’t bring the iPad into the kitchen. Too bad I have hundreds of recipes in the map app that I can only print out now.
collisionbend's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/23/18 11:45 PM
I do most of my cooking/recipe editing/meal planning on my iPad, not my iPhone. I don’t take my iPad to work. As a diabetic, I have to be wary of my carbohydrate intake to keep them level and spread evenly throughout the day - which brings me to my other issue: when you’re displaying a recipe on either device, nutrition info is not displayed anywhere; you have to go into Edit Mode just to see the nutritionals, which can lead to unintended edits, and that’s just plain sloppy...
roamer 99's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 8/18/18 6:28 PM
I’d been hoping it would get the job done: I’ve a lot of recipes and I don’t want to print them out to work with them in the kitchen, or when I need a shopping list, etc; however, it’s not getting the attention it deserves. (This seems true of many of the software titles mariner publishes.) It frequently crashes on both my iPad and iPhone. Recipes sync, but shopping lists don’t (although you can watch a zippy little bar that supposedly shows it doing just that). I’d been hoping it would get the job done; however, it’s not getting the attention it deserves. (This seems true of many of the software titles mariner publishes.)
CSTrouble's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 6/24/18 12:49 AM
This app is almost there. I have had it for a few years and like some features, but too many syncing glitches and other glitches such as not being able to add items to shopping lists on the iPhone makes this a tough app to give more than 2 stars.
AustinAppleUser's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 5/23/18 1:27 AM

That sums it up. I have MacGourmet on my Mac and Gourmet Mobile on my iPad and iPhone. The iPad does not sync. The _idea_ of having access on each device is great, but only if it works. Update: neither iPad nor iPhone sync completely.
Kibbb's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 2/9/18 2:04 PM
My Mac no longer works, and I need Gourmet to sync new recipes between my iPad and iPhone, but you need a Mac to sync! This really stinks. However, I give three stars for beautiful formatting.
TomG1's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 2/23/18 2:51 AM
I have used this app for many years, but since Mariner bought out the original, updates have been slow in coming so that only a couple of recipe websites are able to be imported. Also, when I edit recipes on my Mac and try to sync them to my IOS device, changes to recipes are not replicated across platforms. Support has told me to re-install and re-sync - which still won’t copy changed recipes. I am pretty frustrated. If it weren’t for the amount of recipes I have (>1000), I would look for another app from a vendor that seems more willing to support their app.
Rachel575's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 12/13/17 1:55 PM
I am fed up with this app and the developers seem to have abandoned it. I have used it for about 4 years. I originally chose this one because I had MacGourmet on my Mac. It was okay for viewing recipes from my Mac and occasionally importing them. The sync works well. However, the developers haven’t updated this app in years and it is no longer working for me. The import feature on the iOs app works very poorly, even from sites that it recognizes. The importer won’t even open a URL if you copy and paste it with the “http://“ at the beginning. The app suddenly quits when you try to save the recipe or add a picture and then your progress is lost and you have to go through the whole process over again. There is no Safari extension to import directly from Safari. If I primarily used the Mac app, I’d probably just stick with this, but since I’ve mainly replaced my laptop with my iPad, I’ll probably try a different app. It’s unfortunate that Mariner just doesn’t seem to care about making this app better.
EddyGeez!'s Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I thought since the app had been updated in December 2015 that it would be "current", but this app doesn't even support iOS 7! Everything is "scaled up" from the iOS 6 days, including the user interface and keyboard. Mariner Software should be ashamed of keeping such a rickety old app in the App Store and only providing extremely minor "bug fix" updates instead of embracing iOS 7, iOS 8 and iOS 9. Don't waste your money (unless you're still using an iPhone 4 or like supporting developers who don't stay up-to-date).
TurtleJogger's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I have used MacGourmet for years but have recently (6 months ago) replaced it with Paprika. MacGourmet is the app I want to love. It is beautiful, functional, customizable, except it lacks one important feature. I cannot check on my phone for what meal I have planned for tonight. I have a busy household. I don't want to go run to my Mac to see what I had planned for dinner tonight (and if the kids have eaten the ingredients). Now MacGourmet obviously won't tell me what the kids have eaten, but a simple menu screen on the iPhone would let me take it from there. From what I've heard, someone bought MacGourmet and is now just riding on the developer's coat-tails. No enhancements, just same-old app. I'm sorry to leave MacGourmet, but that one feature is a must. Too bad. MacGourmet's presentation is much better than Paprika, but Paprika imports recipes more easily and the no-menu planner on the iPhone app is a deal breaker. 😔 I'll keep an eye to see if I can come back. As I said, I WANT to love this app, but I need an accessible menu planner function.
AmyTX's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I have been using this app for at least 6 years and it's been essential for having recipes with me at all times, sharing recipes, meal planning, remembering which recipes are a family member's favorite or seasonal for a particular month (using key words to tag recipes)... it's made eating well way more convenient than when I was using Evernote for this purpose. I sync with the cloud - I used after wi-fi syncing for years but this is far easier. I took away a star for the time when I had duplicates but that took about 30 minutes of troubleshooting and I still think this app was worth that hiccup.

I really want to give this five stars, but features aren't working. There are features not importing from my Mac recipes. 1) Equipment shows heading, but no details! 2) If Mac recipe has calculated nutrition, then include it on iOS app! 3) If Mac recipe has Nutrition text listed, include it in iOS app! 4) More templates or views need to be included, especially ones built-into Mac app. 5) Prepared flag is not displayed. 6) Flag is not displayed. Fix all these and I'll change my review to 5 stars!

I've use MacGourmet deluxe and the iOS apps for years. I used to love it however about a year ago I started having significant problems with syncing – ended up having duplicates and triplicates of all of my recipes etc. After months of trying to work with tech-support and often not hearing from them for weeks or months at a time, I finally contacted Michael Ray, President of Mariner Software; he promised that he would get on it and I then heard from somebody that he was going to be working on it. That was March 12 and I still have never heard back. I just transferred all of my recipes from MacGourmet to Paprika which syncs between the program on your computer and the apps on your devices on its own every single time you make a change
LisaBailey's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
This app has always stunk but this update has made it worse! The smart lists have never synced correctly and since the app was bought by Mariner there is no help whatsoever. Now, in addition to that the recipes only show up on the left 1/3 of the screen. Yes, I tried turning my device off and back on to no avail. WTG developers! 😖

Squishypie's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
Don't pay for this app, or wait until it goes on sale. It still needs so much work. And I’ve been using some form of MacGourmet since near the beginning, so years. The phone app doesn't sync every recipe off the cloud. I'll be at the store, go to find a recipe and it's not there. Even after syncing from my Mac multiple times. Can't delete shopping lists so they pile up and you have to wade through hundreds to find the one you need. The meal planner isn't on your phone app at all which is so not helpful. It's only a helpful app to look up a recipe, if it's there. Could be a great companion app but it's still not after all this time. Sigh, wish it were. Update: I’m done, I’m outta here. Got a new iMac, did the migration thing, and everything was messed up. So I sync’ed; that made everything ten times worse. Imported an export and bam, its an utter train wreck. Contacted tech support and someone did respond but he stopped responding and was of zero help. It’s like he didn’t even read what my issues were. I tried contacting support in several other ways to no avail. I’m being ignored. The iMac app is losing functionality not gaining; it’s going backwards. Constant crashing, fewer and fewer sites to clip from. It’s pathetic. I’ve wasted hours upon hours upon hours of mindlessness trying to fix things and this isn’t the first time I’ve run into headaches with all this and their useless “support.” They clearly don’t care about this product line in the least. Don’t buy the iMac app. Don’t get the phone app. You’ll waste your life dealing with all its hassles and that’s stupid.

Good luck trying to get a response from support. I've used this program for over 10 years. It used to be great. Now won't download recipes from any website. I've tried Bon Appetit, cooks illustrated, ny times and many others. 5 emails to support go unanswered. Is the company folding? Do not buy this product. May 2017 update - I finally reached someone at the company after an email threatening to leave a BBB complaint. They said they don't have enough support staff to correct the download problem. Evidently it pertains to flash websites(essentially all of them) At first they said it would be fixed by July. Then they changed it to late fall. Don't hold your breath that's what I was told two years ago.
Ontheroad1's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
Ever since the day before Thanksgiving (TERRIBLE timing!) the app doesn’t display right. At first I didn’t realize that the problem was the app updated and I tried to reinstall and resync my recipes. However, for at least 2 weeks customer account info is showing not available on the developer website and password reset doesn’t work because it can’t find my account. I used the app regularly before they broke it. Please fix!!
Gadwall's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I’ll second another reviewer. It really needs to have the ability to look at the menu planner and open recipes from that meals. I use an old iPad in the kitchen to display recipes while I cook. For years I’d just print them them to pdf and view them on the iPad or just print them out on paper. I was hoping to cut that step out of the process and just pull up my meal with the associated recipes and switch between them while making the dishes. Gourmet makes me search for each recipe each time I want to check a step in a different recipe. lt’s not easy to flip back and forth. I have about 2,000 recipes so if I don’t remember the exact recipe name I still have to dig through the search results. Basically it ruins my cooking rhythm so I’ll be sticking with pdf or paper. If I’m doing a single recipe Gourmet is easy to read and use. I also like the shopping list sync. In all fairness, I just migrated to MacGourmet after I think 15 years (at least judging by my oldest backups) with TheRecipeManager and only bought this app as an afterthought.
run2tunes's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I have to feel bad for a developer who releases an update that breaks their cooking app the day before Thanksgiving. I also have to feel bad for the users who couldn't view their recipes normally. Since they released a new iOS app and dropped support for the previous app both the iOS and Mac versions have worked well for me. I've had no problems with syncing or anything else until this update. I'm one who can't view my recipes in the left pane of my iPad. I just get a message that no recipe is selected. Restarting my device had no affect. It is still possible to see the recipes via Chef's view. Overall I've been happy with MacGourmet. I am sure they will get the problem fixed. Hopefully without releasing a completely new app and requiring existing users to pay again. ;)

tess iMac's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I'll come back and return my rating to five stars when this gets fixed, because I love this app and use it constantly. But talk about bad timing for an upgrade with problems! I was cooking merrily away with my iPad the day before Thanksgiving and everything was fine. I started the app up again in the afternoon and none of my recipes would display unless I used the "chef mode". I deleted the app, reloaded it and resynced the recipes. Now all the recipes show up but the app thinks my iPad 3rd gen is an iPhone, so they're formatted for a phone. Not the end of the world, but pretty annoying.

tropicaldew's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I sync this across 6 devices. The only significant issue I have is this. I imbed a recipe as an ingredient in a master recipe and when synced it really messes up the recipe. But stays true on the original device. Other than that, I really like this program even with its quirks.

chocojavakim's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I've been using Gourmet since it was Macgourmet, and before there even was an iPhone, so about 10 years. The desktop app has always been reliable and imports recipes from most, but not all, of my favorite sites. I was ecstatic when they announced an iOS version (before Mariner bought it) and the long awaited syncing feature. I've never had a problem with the cloud syncing. Apparently some have. It is absolutely true that Mariner hasn't updated the functionality in about 3 years. I think they could do more with it, but apparently they are not spending resources on it. I still use it at least weekly, and it holds my personal recipe collection. Seeing that it has a 2 star rating now makes me sad because I've used the heck out of it for so long. Mariner, if you're listening, there's a market for this type of app, and I hope you'll give it some love.
tess iMac's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
It was unfortunate that the latest upgrade, which is seriously flawed, was released the day before Thanksgiving. But I contacted the developers, and they responded very quickly to say that they apologized and that they're working on it. It appears that the app has trouble recognizing that you're using an iPad and not an iPhone. Until they can push out a fix, it's not really that much of a problem to read the recipes. It's just a formatting issue. And the app is so useful over all, that I can't live without it, even if it's temporarily less than perfect.
Fyrekev's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
Frequent crashes, duplicate items in wine list, does not sync beer list... I could go on. This app, in theory, should be excellent when coupled with the desktop software, but sadly it isn't. A serious overhaul of the cloud syncing should be performed from the desktop AND iOS versions. Perhaps doing away with Mariner cloud and just using one of the myriad of General ones available instead, such as Dropbox. This app package needs work, badly.
stu242's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I have not experienced any of the problems cited by other reviewers. My wife and are using one Mariner account and syncing flawlessly between a MacBook and 4 iOS devices. It is super easy to use the website import, and we've found that most of our favorite websites (not all) are supported and the import works perfectly - even importing the main image. I like the chef's view option on the iPad, allowing me to leave the iPad a good distance from my prep and cooking surfaces and still being able to read the directions. I do not use it for creating a shopping list, so I can't comment on that feature.

DonPablo21's Review of Gourmet MobileReviewed on 11/23/18 12:38 PM
I have been using MacGourmet on the Mac since it was first released. I have built up thousands of recipes, and the cookbook functionality has been great for producing a family cookbook. The iOS version is good for accessing my recipes away from the computer, but syncing is buggy. After renaming a recipe on the Mac, a duplicate recipe is usually created on the iPad; when editing a recipe on the iPad, some edits in some fields sync back to the Mac, but others don't. Their support staff have tried, but the problems persist despite numerous exports, deletions, and recreations of the database and the syncing account on both Mac and iPad.

I LOVE this app and happen to think it is one of the best and most reliable, easy to use recipe apps out there. I have 700+ recipes with Gourmet Mobile/MacGourmet. I add recipes a few times each week, either in my laptop or any one of my 3 mobile devices. As I travel a lot, and live between different homes and a boat, my recipes are always with me which makes my life really easy. The format is great (it offers several different ways to print or view). You can email a recipe straight from your app and recipes look professional. I have not mastered the nutritional portion but I have not put any effort into it either. I use my Mac Book Pro Laptop as the base, and back it up to an external drive. I've only had a crash once many years ago and that was in the early days and because I had my backup the company walked me thru getting my recipes installed in a newer version. I started using MacGourmet when it was just a startup, used to be able to speak directly to the developer before you could sync via Wifi between devices...in the early Palm device days. I have 200+ recipes of my Mom & Dad's. I have created and printed cookbooks (nothing fancy) from the app and given them as gifts to family and friends by having created categories like "Mark's Favorite", Mom and Dad, etc. I am vegan but my family is not, so being able to segregate the recipes is an awesome help. It searches easily by words, ingredients, not just keywords. Sometimes I input recipes in my iPads or my iPhone. Syncing is amazing, not sure how it does it but it captures the recipes perfectly. You have to learn the app but it is easy. The input is also easy to cut and paste on the mobile devices, as are photographs of your recipes that you take a screen shot off the internet and then paste in from your camera file. I sync easily between all my devices (2 iPads, iPhone, and my MacBook Pro- doesn't matter which one I input the recipe to first). I keep my software current on all my devices and think that is a big part of the software working great. Buy it, learn it, if you are a real recipe collector and cook, you will love it. The fact that I have been using this app for what is close to 30 years should tell you something right there.

I was researching recipe and meal planning software for my family. I downloaded this app and the desktop trial. The iPad app crashes often and is useless unless you sync it to a desktop version. Disappointing and made my decision easy. I'm going with Cook'n or Recipe Manager definitely not wasting more time with this app.

It is ok for looking at recipes but it crashes when I try and make a shopping list.

I bought this app so I could just sync my shopping list from my computer to my iPhone. I've never been able to get it to work. I even contacted tech support and they had me do a hard reset and still doesn't work. When I click sync on my phone, it says it's syncing and even gives me the current date but when I go into the shopping list, there's nothing. I'm more than frustrated! I'm tired of wasting paper. Please fix this!!

I was excited to purchase the gourmet plus for my computer and to download this app from the apple store back in July. I am a chef and rely on a program for all my cooking, having the phone app helps 100% when at the market and unsure of what is needed for a recipe. Since my purchase I have never been able to download my recipes as the program keeps saying “no such email” when I try to sign up. I have been in contact with the developer who keep responding they are working on it but to date nothing has changed. I paid the fee for the new version of mac gourmet, the fee for the app and can not use it at all…I would recommend not purchasing this product until the developer can stand behind their work and have the programs work as it’s unfair for us as the end user.

I really love the app, but wish syncing worked. I share the app with my wife and we both have it on our phones and laptops. Unfortunately, my phone shows that I have 698 recipes and my laptop shows I have nearly 1000. When I sync, new recipes imported via my phone appear on my laptop, but not vice versa. Ugh.

Update 12/6/15 I rebooted both iPads on which this app runs to no result. I wish I could post a picture of how ridiculous my app screen looks now. Moreover, it deletes all recipe updates once I try to synchronize the two devices. :( I already lost two recipe corrections before o noticed this bug yesterday. Please fix this... I used to love this app... Update 11/29/2015: Yesterday I updated this and nothing works anymore. it uses a third of the screen the remaining part being empty, it disconnected me from their cloud and I can't connect back, and once you click on a picture you have to crash-quit the app because it wouldn't exit that picture anymore. Please fix! Rewriting you old review: as of 1/1/15 the sync between Mac and iPad works. However the lists still don't work (neither on Mac nor on mobile devices) hence the 4 stars. Great customer service though, so I hope they'll fix it.

Sync issues are still abundant. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t. If it does, does it repeat them several times? 50-50 chance, yes. Does it change preparation time categories and sequences between devices? You betcha! Does it then crash when you try to delete and edit those errors? Absolutely. Also when deleting recipes. Also when reordering preparation instructions. Basically just a lot of crashes. Had I paid more than $1.99US for this app I’d be pretty p***ed, but as it is easy to try and find a better replacement; it’d be difficult to imagine finding a worse one.

I have this app and use it with MacGourmet Deluxe on my computer. Love this! I can sync on my phone, iPad and computer. Super convenient! I’ve used MacGourmet for years and whenever I had a problem, their tech people were very supportive.

I love the convenience of having all my recipes available wherever I am. The search features and categories work great. My issue is with syncing between my Mac, my iPhone and my iPad. On multiple occasions I have had to delete the app from my phone or iPad because notes or directions are not syncing and usually are completely missing. I also get frustrated when I try to download recipes directly from another site — almost never works. I’ve seen the message “we’re working on it” for far too long to believe it. Give this app some attention to make it really great!!!!

I’ve had MacGourmet in OSX forever. My hard drive failed as did my backup but MacGourmet’s cloud service saved the day and all 4,000 plus recipes are back on my MBP. What does that have anything to do with iOS apps you ask? Well, Gourmet is the sibling to MacGourmet and it’s a wonderful app. You can sync all or certain parts of your recipe collection to Gourmet and take it with you. Mariner Software Support is awesome. I highly recommend MacGourmet and Gourmet; they dovetail perfectly.
