This service is an absolute last resort!

I have used Western Union Money transfer app for about six months now; moreover, when it comes to money conversions out of all the money transfer apps you get the best rates. It may take a few days, so if you are not in a rush to send money to family in another country this is the app for you. Also you don’t have to do the classic way of WesternUnion and send straight to an over the counter but rather straight to ones bank account. Thanks WesternUnion.

This is a terrible application. I made two transaction and they charged me twice for both. Because of their mistake my bank account went negative and the bank charged me insufficant fee. Just because of their mistake I have no money left to buy even food. Because of their mistake my credit score went down and I was going to rent a new apartment I couldn’t because of my credit score! The worst thing they have worst customer service ever. People in customer service don’t know how to talk and how to solve your issue. They told me if I want urgently to solve the issue I have to send my statement to their general email addres but nobody replied. DON’T DOWNLOAD THIS APP AND SEND MONEY WITH THEM, USE PAYPAL!

This App used to work great and be convenient now I have to call or go to the store. I have tried removing and then adding back it is still flawed! The people on the phone will just tell you anything as a reason for the failure but they don’t have a clue!

I have desperately tried to use this service and not have any issue....wait, that’s an oxymoron. Although street smart and holding a PhD, it has become a weekly challenge to simply “get it right”. I now use Walmart to send money overseas without issue for much less. I was paying WU $87 now I’m paying Walmart $16.

It keeps saying my address doesn’t match my card. It’s just a pain at this moment.

This app is very user friendly. It’s very easy to use and allows for fast transfer of funds.

This app is unintuitive and confusing. I’ve spent 30 mins trying to figure out how to use it and now once I did I have no idea where how to retrieve the details of the amount I transferred. Will be deleting this app. This is absolutely a awful app.

I got a money order for 13.50$ from here I couldn’t cash it anywhere, aka no one would take it. So i tried to get a blank check to give the money to a friend . Nope they won’t give me a blank check They won’t void it, unless I pay 15$ more than the check is for Very upset. I bought a 13.50$ piece of paper Ain’t that a kick in the head

I transferred the money looking at the fee they charge but after a day i was been charged by bank 3% of transfer money because they do the transactions as cash advance.but when i do the same transactions with other companies i was never charged.unknowingly i lost nearly 120$in cash advance for saving may be 20$ in fees.

Quick, easy & reliable

WesternUnion takes extra money on the money exchange above the $4.99 they charge for the transfer. It adds up to around another 2p per dollar I send. But otherwise I’m happy with the set up and it’s more reliable on the other end too.

Easy, I don’t have time to go to the stores to do this so this is fast and easy

Even tho it asks if you want them to remember you. It does not. You have to put in information That I cannot remember and have to look up each time. That’s frustrating

For the last three months, I've tried redeeming my points through the app. The page always fails to load and the back button stops working. All other aspects of the app work wonderfully, yet it is a but annoying that the redeeming option always fails to load.

Its just amazing, save me a lot of time and money.

It cost $6.95 to send $50. That is 12%. If I could make 12% on my money guaranteed, I would have retired years ago. Excessive in my mind and will only use WU if I absolutely have no other method available. They have a monopoly on sending money to inmates and that is the population that can least afford excessive fees.

Hi I tried this app but it does not show my country when I have to select it . Will only work if I live in the USA ?

Once I selected the right country this was simple and easy to use...

I use this app constantly and it gets the job done. The design is very outdated and the app needs a face up urgently. My main problem is that my rewards points are about to expire and I am unable to redeem them, I just get in an infinite loading screen every time I try to. This bug needs to be fixed soon.

If you redeem a reward, it sometimes doesn’t show up for a bit and you don’t have control of which transfer it applies to. Also, the notification you get to forward to your receiver does not include the amount in their local currency, only in USD, which is not so useful for international receivers. Otherwise it’s very easy to use.

Good service, but the app needs some maintenance, Receiver's name amend isn't working, freezed after a transfer and money was deducted from my account while transaction was canceled by Western Union, had to wait a few days for refund, but overall, a good service.

The app doesn’t specify that the address is the current address where the receiver is at. It should be specific as the location where the receiver is at may not be current address.

I've used your service for almost a decade without that cash advance fee on my credit card. Now it's there in my bill and this is your rating. The credit card company has said that WU is now using a different merchant code so this is why it is now showing up as a cash advance with a cash advance fee. I will be quickly seeking alternatives to WU due to this insulting underhanded move.

The app is not that flexible to use. You can save card info but cannot edit it. Some times you have type all your information due small error and it needs restart of transaction. 3 stars is for app and its comfort instead of going out to web.

The app was not accepting my transaction with the card I want to use I contact my bank and they say that the problem was with WesternUnion and I contact Wester union and the person was very rude on the phone and didn’t want to help I asked to speak with the supervisor and to hang up on me. I end up using a different credit card and now is going to cost me more money to transfer money from the credit card I originally want to use to the one that I actually used for the transfer. And the weird part is that I always use that card once a month for a transfer via Western Union so I don’t understand why it’s not working and as well why was the customer service is so bad.

Please do not use Western Union. Somebody used my account to send money in india I did not authorize. Customer service and fraud dept is the worst ever. They wont investigate and do not care. They had me go to the police and file a report and would not refund. What’s worst is i already reported and blocked a previous transaction but they still let another one go through. You cant understand what they’re saying. Worst custmer service and fraud dept trust me. You will lose money here.

Western union wheat from being a very helpful and cheap company to send money everywhere, to a nightmare, where they hold your money for days and the receiver can’t pick it up, and when you cancel they still hold it for an other few days, I guess they find the way to earn money on someone else’s cost. After many years I won’t ever use WesternUnion ever again

Everything on the app works just fine until I start to redeem my points and it freezes!

Very good app using for more than a year. I have used mutliple apps to transfer money. Western Union has nice and user friendly flow so that user can transfer money easily. Also, I have received maximum exchange rate in most of the cases when transferred internationally. Suggestion/improvement: when user wants to track the transfer on mobile app. User has to enter to mtcn number manually. So, user should be provided with an option or way where they can auto select mtcn number from their transaction.

Idk what has happened to WU, but their works are worthless and don’t do their job at all. No one tries and no is willing to find a solution. I tried to report fraud on my account because apparently there was a money transfer clearly being processed.

I am using this app for a long time and I have one debit card in the system, every time I want to send money it’s asking me the cvv number of my card ... I am using a smart phone like most of the people, using my finger print to use the app and it’s keep asking the cvv number.., so s***** and it’s not a security matter it’s an hassle nothing more

This app used to work well but lately all I get is an error code saying that there is a technical error when I try to send money.

Worst company, service, and people to ever do business with. Cancelling my account and taking my business elsewhere where it is appreciated. Added: The whole premise of your business model is money transfers and some basic customer service. I have an account and bank linked to it. Tried to send money to my sister whom I’ve sent money to overseas previously. Transaction declined due to inability to confirm some secret squirrel issue that no one could answer. Went to a local store and utilized the service without an account to send the money. So makes no sense whatsoever. I hope that explains why I feel the way I do.

I typed the wrong email address. (Instead of .com I put .con. It wouldn’t let me go back and correct it. I kept typing the wrong code, and still wouldn’t let me go back. I had to download the app and reload it

The safety and security idiots at western union stopped my ability to pay the bills at my home I. The Philippines saying they think its fraud! The lease is in my name! And now they have the nerve to send me a promo telling me there’s no fee if I use my bank account to send to my fiancé’s bank account. That of which they have denied me the ability to do! I started using world remit and it’s absolutely wonderful! Less expensive and faster too! DO NOT USE WESTERN UNION. they charge fees all over! Lower than going exchange rates, fees to send. Fees to receive! They’re crooks!

I lost my brother 3 weeks ago which was devastating, he was only 34 years old. His body was to be taken home (Sierra Leone) for his funeral. I sent money urgently with this company hoping to get the funds there fast. My transaction got cancelled for no particular reason and Western Union kept my money for 5 days. I begged and pleaded for my money to be refunded but they didn’t give it back, kept telling me it was my banks fault. I checked with my bank and had a representative do a 3 way call which did not go over well. The guy from western Union insisted I not have my bank on the phone and that they only would speak with me because of privacy issues. After getting my bank off the phone, the guy still insisted it was the banks fault my money wasn’t available for immediate refund. Anyway.....it’s the worse experience especially since I was grieving. I will not use this company again.....

This app works fairly well to send money. The only drawback is when you need to cancel. You hit the cancel button. And it never works. Tells you to call the representative. Of course that takes 20 to 30 minutes for someone comes on the line and take care of it. They just need to work a little more on the app to wear when you hit cancel or change name. It actually works

The app is extremely convenient except for the fact you can’t send the the Palestinian Authority. Each time I need to send money there I have to go in to my nearest WesternUnion and do it in person. Please try to fix this problem.

I couldn’t apply my points

WU is the worst app, and corporation in general. They constantly s**** up transfers, and then no customer service that can actually help. WU has NO clue when it comes to paternal and maternal surnames ... I view this as racist. They consistently delay transfers due to their poor grasp what customers need. Rated 1 star because I could not rate in the negative.

A few years ago my blind friend got his wallet stollen in Colombia South America. Went to send money to ourselves from a bank account that was used before via app, denied. After several phone calls WU advised us that we could take cash to any WU locations and wire money to ourselves. Then he said Sir, you don’t have to use profanity. This week I have been trying to send cash. Use app to fill info to take cash to store for $5. Store knows nothing about system. Put bank info in for $9. Will not accept info. I’m not going to use the $16.99 bank card where I can just do it at the store with no problems. This app is a joke to me for the last 2 years.

I have been using the app many years. After today I will never use Western Union period! I attempted to send a small transfer to my son. He lost his ID and was not able to pick it up. The next morning, today, I called WU. Of course as with all customer service these days, it took several minutes dealing with the automated service before I was able to get a real person on the line. After explaining the situationand being on hold for 11 minutes, I was told I would receive an email with instructions on providing the receivers ID. I AGAIN explained that the ID was not available and was told I would have to be put on hold again while instructions was obtained regarding what I needed to do. I immediately noticed that I did not get the recordings as before and the line was silent. After waiting 7 minutes, I hung up and redialed. The second call was worse than the first. The man on the line said, “Good morning Miss Ray could I have your name?” I laughed and told him he obviously already knew it. He ask how he could help me. I explained the situation to him and was told that until I provided the document requested, the money would sit there. I ask if he was telling me there is no way I can get my money refunded? He told me no he was telling me the money would not be refunded until the receiver’s ID is provided. I told him I did not understand why since the receiver is not getting the money and it is being returned to the account that I own, so why is that the case? I then realized that the agent had simply laid the phone down and was ignoring me! I could here other talking in the background so I knew he had not hung up or put me on hold but I kept repeating hello with no response from the agent. I am just appalled that customer service can be so bad. As I said, I WILL NEVER USE WESTERN UNION AGAIN!

App is easy but I never have been able to use rewards with app

Everything was great, but for some weird reason, it would not take my first name. It is not even that weird, that bit of coding needs to be fixed! And my name is Inge.

A close friend in another state was in dire need of a small amount of money. I was able to set up an account and get it to her in minutes with no trouble at all, I didn’t even need to put in bank info. The app was much more user friendly than I expected and she was able to get her tire patched so she will be able to get to work tomorrow and not miss her rent payment.

Very good app

Use to be a very avid user of western union until they kept denying my debt card. Prior to the issue with the card, I had five successful completed transactions and never had one issue. The only way around it was to create a new account, I spoke to several phone representatives and they can never resolve the issue. Yesterday I attempted do another transaction on my new account, with the same Debt card but had the same error message. I will no longer be sending money through western union. Great exchange rate but I will not be creating a new account every time I want to send money.. I also lost my points.. smdh

I don’t flap about stuff like this, but this app makes everything so convenient and easy. I use this app every time and you control your money and they just make it easy. The fee is a little more then what you will usually pay at a store but making commands right at home from the tip of your finger?? Hella worth it👌

I have to reset my password every time I use the app. Online menu options are poorly represented at best, and tech support is a joke.

We enter something for ifsc code when saving receiver. But it will show something different in review screen while sending money. This is why most people don’t prefer WU.

My dad tried to send money through app he received a call from customer service to verify if it was him but the person hanged up didn’t even tried to see if they have translator to speak to him and they canceled his transaction. I called customer service to see why they cancelled and explained the situation the representative asked for the language I said Bosnian or Croatian they transferred me to Spanish translator not even close to what I asked, then that person transfers me to a French translator, then the French translator transfers me back to customer service which I waited 10 minutes and then hanged up. Horrible horrible customer service. I don’t have nothing against Spanish but there are other languages spoken in the world not only Spanish.

If I could rate no stars I would! This is suppose to be fast and easy, but yet my transfer has been on hold for over 2 weeks now! Paying all these fees to get it there faster, yet it went nowhere. Now I can’t even get my money back. To make matters worse, trying to get ahold of customer service is a pain, I’ve been transferred all over the place and never get any help. It’s my money! I should be able to send it to whomever I choose and not have to deal with this. Just plain horrible!

Expensive but it save you time

App works great. Transfer prices are highway robbery though... They should be shaking down all this money being sent over seas and give people keeping money in this country a break.

One star is to many. Western Union allowed me to send money once to someone but now says it might be fraud. ITS MY FRIGGIN MONEY. I can send it to whomever I choose. I didn’t file a fraud claim befor so why would I now for the same amount? Geez ppl. Stop reading from your script, use your brain, Manage like you are paid to think! Gezzzz

I used to be able to wire money straight to my friend in Belize and she could pick it up the day after. Now I’m having so many problems with it going through. I hope I’m not charged twice because I had to resend the money after getting an email saying “we cannot complete transfer until we have the money from you.” Like duh, take the money out of my account and then you’ll have it. It was super simple and now she may not get he money for a while. What a pain in the butt.

Worst company, service, and people to ever do business with. Cancelling my account and taking my business elsewhere where it is appreciated.

This was my first review when I started with western union. “I have to use WesternUnion to send money to my inmate and the app makes things simple and easy. It takes just a couple hours for my inmate to receive the money.” Now I’ve spent at least 10 phone calls to customer service. One was very rude and had no interest in helping me solve my problem, the next one seemed helpful and then never called back. They say my inmates account number is wrong after using this app for a year.

Last month, I downloaded the app so I can send money to family in Philippines. After trying at least 10 times with no luck, I deleted the app. Kept getting a system error. Recently, re-downloaded the app in hopes that the bug was fixed... and NOPE! Still not able to send money! I checked to make sure all my information was inputted correctly. Worst app!

Not keeping history record of in-store transactions history. When called to complaint, told me to delete n re-install. Done and done! Still no record.

The App makes it very difficult to use My WU points for reducing a transaction fee. If login and go to menu for My WU which you have to do before creating a transaction, it makes you go through several screens and currently makes you pick a country and then login again! It often crashes during one of these steps or freezes the screen. More than once have had close down my whole phone, restart, login again and the points are finally available for reducing the transaction fee. Not fun!

Could not to to use rewards points

Somehow, Western Union makes rewards redemption utterly difficult and ridiculous. I gave up trying to use the rewards.

I do not understand why the transaction did not go through, it says it’s under review. I have spoken to a representative by the name of Aika, she connected to someone name Sam, I simply got the run around, and no one could explain why the transaction was under review.

Why do I not get credit for my points on my transfer. Why do you make it difficult to redeem points?

It traps people. I tried money gram. It gives good rate and less online transfer fee and i like it.

The app timed out and indicated I needed to start over but the first transaction actually went through and when I called to cancel one of the transactions I received a bit of a turnaround.

They want you your money, but picking it up is a different story. First time I used the app to pick up cash they told me there was a hold on the money and that the sender needed to call WU. Then it happened the 2nd time I used the app. They couldn't tell me why there was a hold and I know that the sender didn't put a hold on the money. Of course the WU operator that I'm talking too can't clearly say "thirty" because of her accent, sounds like she's saying "thirteen".

I never had a problem sending money through WU until yesterday. Before I left the agent she told me to call them because They put my money on hold. It’s hard to believe that such a company has no customer service. Please believe me I spend 6 -7 hours on the phone before someone picked up!!!!!!! I dosed off twice. After explaining to very uncaring men he said he can’t do anything and he transferred me to department who deals with that kind of things. So I waited another 4 hours!!!!!!!!!! And finally I gave up. I don’t know what to do. READ REVIEWS ONLINE IT IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM. SUCH A BIG COMPANY MAKING MILLIONS AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!! I know This company is located in Australia.

The rewards it needs to be added to the quick send money options thank you for your support.

If you add a middle name, the system writes it after the last name. Is supposed put it before the last name and between the first name and the last name. The system does not do that and is a problem when you show your iD.

This is a recurring problem that I encounter every time I try to send money through in-store payment option. Not a week goes by where I don’t encounter this error. Save your money and your time, use transferwise.

Very very poor customer response for a customer like me it’s been two years I am sending money and i just got 160 point for all these years when contacted customer care they said it’s technician error and they will call me back but twice I called but still no response

When I input the amount of $$$ that I need to sent it doesn’t automatically convert the amount that the recipient should be receiving.

I never received any email confirmation of my account. When I went to reset password - never got email. I know my address is correct because I got one from them when I made complaint. (PS - have not heard back BTW) I just said eff it and went to a store. I'd never use it.

Really worthless app. Spent a lot of time setting it up, but it always comes back saying it can’t complete the transfer. Have talked to other people and they’ve had the same experience. Tried to talk to someone. Naturally, that was impossible. Best just to skip this waste of time and effort. Really rank.

I’ve been waiting three months for this app to work correctly again ...it worked fine before this period It does the same now on other people’s phone that I know too it will take you all the way to the end of process to send money then say go into western union location!? (Who wants to go into store and pay more money on top of fuel costs) Three months and still no fix is disappointing Walmart has been getting my business since you guys can’t get your app to work properly

It’s a good app and runs mostly smooth but it doesn’t let you apply points while making the transaction. Minor flaw.
