App updated automatically to this and I am not happy ... it didn’t pare with my Roku TV automatically and I can’t stream to the TV.

How a company treats existing customers speaks volumes. I’ve had my sling box for a number of years but now, they’ve forced me to purchase the new app while they’ve eliminated the ability to control my cable box. This was the basics of why I had the sling box, I’m sure it’s the same for most of their customers. In my opinion, ignoring these customers sends a message to new customers about what they can expect.

Writing this on December 11th, 2018 and I have had this for 5 yeRs. Now I’m no longer able to change the channel on my iphone/ipad and laptop?!? What the heck is up with this?!? This is completely useless.

Why is there an “Automatically connect” option if you STILL have to press “Start Watching”? I paid 30 dollars for this app years ago. The “Gallery, top channels” is a form of ads in disguise. There should be an option to get rid of it. Shame on you. I will find a way to get this to the right people

No remote until stream starts. No good for food as I can’t go to a non HD channel to watch. Verizon Box starts in 1080p mode all I get is a message video stream not supported. The only way I can get it to work is go to the TV where the box is located turn TV on switch resolution to 720p then it works. Not good if you are away from home which is what the sling box is for right?

I just got it in the mail today and I can’t access my DVR on anything. iPhone no DVR button. iPad DVR button does nothing. Computer no DVR button. Waste of $30 on app. Please fix.

The latest update is a downgrade. It takes longer to get it going and the guide only goes forward 2 hours.

sending a command (channel up/down, dpad nav, etc) of any sort to the Tivo just instantly “stops” the stream and slows everything down!! never mind the horrible latency that’s built into the whole thing to begin with. it takes multiple seconds for it to catch up back to what you were looking at prior to the command. i don’t remember older versions doing this! new version is 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Mediocrity at its worst.

This app is terrible. Cannot change channel if the ch number has double numbers. Entering 1002 gets ch 102. 1112 gets ch 12 etc. Absolutely terrible and no one at Slingbox cares or the app would’ve been fixed a long time ago. Worse part? I have to pay Slingbox for help troubleshooting. Won’t even talk to me unless I pay.

This app no longer works with many of the newer Roku devices and TCL Roku TVs. There’s no way to even log a support request with Sling. You have to pay $27 to call them so they can tell you this.

The new-ish apps user interface is really poor. It takes multiple button clicks to get to the control options and every time the iPhone goes to sleep when the app is restarted you need to reconnect. This is especially frustrating when watching DVR’d content you want to fast forward through. The old app did not have these issues, big step backwards.

After the latest update even component cable connection is blocked and no longer supported.

The new update will not connect to my Slingbox. Works ok off of my laptop, but can not connect from phone or iPad. Very frustrating.

I’m havin probs with app remembering my log in and pass word every time I open it up I have to retype my info to log in been doin it for year now please have a check box so I can select remember password I’ve reinstalled it few time but no fix

Please revert to the old version. Useless. Using the guide to find a program to record now takes an eternity. Useless.

First of all I love the idea of being able to view my home television dvr. The interface of this is not super intuitive. And I have no way to find my Dvr recordings after searching for an hour. I am not an old man who is technologically incompetent, but used to be a software engineer. The playing is fine , just work on the interface and show me the Dvr!

Thank you for making the buttons so small that I can barely making then work. It’s helping to ween me off the use of this app.

With this updated app, I can no longer use my lightning to HDMI adapter and watch my local television on another tv through my cell phone while I am out of town. The picture comes up extremely tiny up in the corner (literally the same size as my cell phone, but on my tv). I’ve messed with every picture setting imaginable on the tv, and I get a full screen when watching YouTube or other movies, but the sling box app is not compatible with it. I wish I could contact support about this issue, but I haven’t had any luck so far.

I'd give one star or less but site won't post review. 4.0 Doesn't work full screen on hdmi, vga & 1/2 the time on iPhone w/ out reboot! Not an improvement, terrible SW build. Give 3.8.51 back until this unusable crap is fixed. Please!

The older app supported HDMI audio and video. This app only supports HDMI audio from my iPhone. The DVR functions are tucked away under sub-menus and the buttons are so small to fast-forward and rewind. I use this app mostly to watch recorded shows from my DVR so is nearly useless to me on its current form. I hate the fact I can’t revert back to the old app.

I’ve had a sling box for a few years and though using the remote is slow, it’s still reliable. Unlike my cable provider app which blocks a lot of programming once I’m away from home, sling has never failed to deliver. I wish they still made the boxes because they work great.

Not perfect but a far and beyond improvement from the old outdated app. I literally placed my Slingbox 500 on Craig’s List because of the lack of software support but this update has given the device not only a stay but also new life! Thank goodness I never sold it. And thank you Sling Media for not forgetting your customers.

First off, you pay $300 for the hardware and THEN YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE APP TO USE IT!!???? Secondly, how can you update an app and make it even worse? Now you have to login almost every time you use it, evens if it's open. Preferences don't save and buttons change or sometime don't even work at all!! Thanks sling box for your trash app.

Tired of this apps lackluster video quality when I’m in LTE. If I want high quality and may incur additional carrier fees I would like to have that control. And, when I’m in WiFi I always want to choose HD and the auto sometimes doesn’t provide high quality on my optimized network. All my other streaming apps give me that ability and you should, too! -Favorites don’t work right -HD channels doesn’t provide the same lineup as when I select it on my desktop

Suddenly the remote control and any ability to control the tv and channels ha e disappeared. The remote function is gone as well as the keypad and any other menu options. It has rendered the slingbox useless since I can’t change channels.

Really overjoyed that Sling updated this app for iOS 12. Was worried that it would no longer be supported! My one request is that the next update support full screen on the iPhone Xs Max. Otherwise, this app is truly awesome. Thanks Sling!

Where did the DVR button go? Keeps asking for login info. I’ve been using slingbox since 2005. Every year just gets worse and worse. Even serving ads on the desktop player for something we bought. Just utter garbage. I guess sling is pumping all of their money into subscription based services these days. Don’t even bother.

Otherwise working again in ios12. Give me skip and jump back controls in portrait orientation. Or all the remote controls. More room for the skip and jump buttons in landscape view.

This app works just fine for watching TV, but needs more improvements for giving the best experience as its description is calming. I got frustrated the instability of Chromecast integration. When I operated a remote (e.g. open menu), Chromecast app crush and went back to the stand-by screen. Also, when I operate a remote on iOS app, it refreshes the screen each time. It’s really annoying and made me frustrated when I was browsing channels. At last, the sound quality of TV streaming is really poor. Low volume sounds (e.g. whisper voice) are often cut and avoid you to focus on TV. As you can easily imagine, it’s extremely frustrating when you are watching music channels. Slingbox streams great musics as a garbage noise. I really wish Slingbox team uses their app by themselves, experience how their users feel and fixes poor qualities of their products as soon as possible.

This update is horrible! I have to now jump through so many loops to get to my dvr

Everything was working fine until the app update. Now my iPhone won’t connect to the sling box anymore. Nice work.

Dear Sling...If it’s not broken, don’t fix it! This update is the absolute worst in app history. I can no longer connect on my iPhone or for that matter, even at home. Thirty bucks down the tubes. Fix this horrible mistake or roll back to the previous version. Zero stars if I were allowed to do that.

Sling box use to have all the remote controls. As per the description, I understood I could get the controls back by buying the paid app. WRONG!!!! I cannot find one feature more than the free app. Don’t waste your money buying this app!!

On iOS 12 when in Audio only mode and attached to CarPlay as soon an something else grabs the Audio the app disconnects. To start app another Audio app has to be running and then the app can start and play audio until another CarPlay app (message, phone) takes the audio. When the app fails to start you need the kill it before you can start it again.

I used to love this app, used it with my slingbox pro HD to watch Directv and my OTA. But the 4.0 upgrade is WORTHLESS. The new UI does not allow one to bring up the remote control until AFTER a video stream is detected. My remote DirecTV box requires a power on to wake it up as it goes to sleep on its own. As such, this app is now 100% unusable for me until this is fixed. Note: I can connect with the Slingplayer app on PC abd sebd remote power to the sling box. After doing so, the iOS Slingplayer app is fine, with the full remote UI coming up after video detected. So I know the only issue here is needing access to the remote controls after connecting to slingbox but before video is detected. PLEASE FIX!!

The new version is much faster and easier to navigate. Still can be sluggish, at times, but a marked improvement.

New version is garbage. Onscreen remote is gone, no way to power on receiver. TV always starts small, always have to maximize. Guide is terrible, no descriptions. Big UX downgrade. Purposely sabotaging customers? Fire your product manager.

Love this app right until the UI update. Very difficult to navigate and lack features.

Aspect ratio is incorrect resulting in short fat people and video behind the notch! Unacceptable

Used my slingbox constantly hooked up in my car via hdmi to my iPhone. Now it barely works. Have to turn my phone side ways and it it doesn’t fill the big screen on my radio anymore it’s projected to. The older versions worked great, want to roll it back to old version how do we do that? This is terrible. You have to turn your screen sideways too to get to the remote icon too. Wow! It’s like hide and seek with this app. Start over.

The thing barely functions and disconnects after 5 min of use every time. Get it together.

Can no longer watch via HDMI. Had to spend $80 on an HDMI to Component converter and it’s still spotty.

This new version is horrible. Bring back the virtual remote. There are no instructions to this new version. It will not turn my cable box on by pressing menu.
