This slingbox unit and app are aweful. It only works in home on same wifi. Never ever works when travelling and trying to watch over good wifi in a different sate. IOS Android no matter what this product, apps, support are a joke. They should be put out of business and sued.

This app does not want to open under iOS 12 Beta. Granted it is a Beta, but this does not look good for the Fall release of iOS 12. Since this app has not been updated in quite sometime, doubt the developers will address this coming iOS release. I guess it is time to look elsewhere for alternatives. Sad as it was my go to app for watching my home setup without geo restrictions.

I have used this with my roku for years and now it no longer will allow me to send video to roku. Luckily it still works from my iPhone but I had to reconfigure my network to get that to work because SlingPlayer for iPhone has bugs as well.

With the latest iOS update to my iPad the app gets an error message with each second use. The fix is to delete, reinstall and sign in for a single use. My android and laptop work fine. My iMac iOS 10.13.3 gets a firewall message asking if I accept the app (but it works). Of course these issues are not all Slingbox driven but we need your fix. I love my Slingbox, and the working app. Even with all the additional online options, I still like this contraption.

App gives me access to multiple sling boxes across the country (everyone in my family has at least one box in their home). The app works great on older iOS devices running 9.3.5 and newer devices running 12.1.1. Keep up the great work!

No iOS 11 support, zero updates in more than a year, zilch in terms of support. I’ve contacted the developer maybe 4 times without so much as a response. And you go on the website and they have the nerve to ask for $30 to talk to someone when you pay $300 plus for the box, $30 for an iPhone app, $30 for an iPad app, and $30 for an android app. All with varying bugs. iPad won’t connect to the server and the Android app will never show the chromecast capability. And will anyone respond to this review from their side? I won’t hold my breath.

Great App, I use it everyday!

I’ve had this app for quite some time. It seems that the app doesn’t work properly with the latest iOS. (11.2.6) I can log in and use the app the first time and it’s fine. BUT if you try to launch it the next day, it just gets stuck in ‘looking for server’. The only solution is to remove the app from the iPad, then reinstall it. I’ve had to do this multiple times. Clearly there’s a problem here and I don’t see that they’ve paid any attention to this app for over a year. Very disappointed!

Have to continually delete and reinstall the app. Have had a Slingbox for over a decade. This is s new problem which Slingbox has ignored since IOS 11 was released.

I have had a Slingbox unit for over ten years and my latest experience using my unit on an iPad is very disappointing. My iPad app keeps crashing over and over, with a pop up that states “Server Error” even after several attempts to delete and re-install. I have sent messages to their customer service team with no response. My Slingbox app on my iPhone works fine, just my iPad.

Worked fine for the longest time but for the last month or so has been more unstable than my ex-wife. Seems the "update" has produced a very reliable crash every time the app is in use. I would have given it less than one star if I could have. Please tell the update department to get their heads out of their asses and fix it.

Upgrade left app unusable. No remote and all buttons are non responsive. I am unable to control my TV now from my iPad. I know sling box is working correctly because it seems to work fine from my computer. Please fix this.

Now that I upgraded to a super fast fiber connection it works about 99% of the time. One request, please add support for the Joey box and Joey remote. Thanks.

The app recently updated in September 2018 and since then it is not working very well. When it starts on my iPad it just says loading and nothing happens. Please fix this!

Have had slingbox for many years. The players and the service have gotten progressively less and less stable. When it works, great but the current apps crash often and are close to becoming more trouble than they are worth given the availability of other streaming content.

SlingPlayer is terrible for connecting to chromecast. It constantly freezes and crashes on the chromecast, especially when TRYING TO CHANGE THE CHANNEL OR HITTING ANY OTHER CONTROLS FOR THE CABLE BOX. FIX THIS APP PLEASE IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE AND THIS COMPANY DOES NOT SUPPORT THEIR PRODUCTS.

There is no way to wake up your system once you open the app. It will try to connect and if your cable box is asleep then you are stuck on the screen that will say “server failure” or “connecting” forever or until you reboot your iPad and try again.

I’ve used the Slingbox 500 since 2014 to watch TV on PC, iPad, iPad Pro, iPhone, and Galaxy using the SlingPlayer app. But, recently it has become almost impossible to use this app on the iPad Pro because of “server error” issues. This error doesn’t come up with other devices, only the iPad Pro. There’s nothing in the Slingbox knowledge base or community postings addressing this issue and Slingbox doesn’t offer any option for alerting them on app issues. I guess they expect users to pay the $29.99 fee for out of warranty service. Ridiculous.

I bought the iPad app for my iPad2 just to have some flexibility when I don't want to use my laptop to watch my slingbox. I am a huge slingbox fan and it works well on my laptop and I have a high def sling box. So far it isn't working well on the iPad, buffers every few seconds even on standard quality. Now the remote not showing up at all either on iPad or on iPhone appp. Ready to give up on using it.

The app used to work decent and I used my SlingPlayer whenever I was away from home. Seems like with iOS 11, the only way to get the app to work is uninstall and reinstall. Even then I crashes and I have to sometimes reinstall to get it working again.

My original sling box is no longer supported. The reason given doesn’t make sense. They want me to buy a new one. My old one works great. Put back a version that supports legacy sling boxes. I’ve spent was to much on hardware to be abandoned.

SlingPlayer for iPad DOES NOT WORK! I will uninstall and re-install the app over and over just to get it to work for a limited time. Sad. Get it together, Sling!

Would be great to see an iPhone X update, or something that shows the company is in support of the latest iOS features. This app destroys battery life, despite other streaming applications not even coming close.

Do not buy this app if you are trying to use this with Chromecast as it automatically disconnects after 2 minutes. However I have had no problems with a Roku.

Terrible connectivity. Every time you open the app it gives "server error" message. So, I have to uninstall , reinstall, log in, cross my fingers and hold my nose just right and pray that it re-establishes a connection. What a waste of 300$ in hardware and software.

Crashes. Does not work for more than one session. Not recommended.

Server error. No updates to app in over a year. $ back should be demanded as you can't access the box. $ back on app (BS cost to consumer anyway) and the sling box since you can't access TV. Class action lawsuit people? There should be a way our monies can be returned. If you know someone to file, I will sign for support.

Hate this since recent updates -- no longer can use it with Airplay to watch with my Apple TV. Stutters and stops constantly. Please please fix this!!!!

Looks like lots of people are having this same issue now. It takes 5 or six starts of the iPad Pro app to get through. YOU GOING TO FIX THIS. WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A FEEDBACK EMAIL PAGE?

It does what I want for a single app, but it needs current updates. Also, it should be able to put in a small window while I work on other apps. Sad that it’s so outdated! I could easily give it 5 stars if the developers would keep the app up. Not ready for iOS 11 capabilities.

The remote on the app no longer works. So you can't power it on. So wasted money

Honestly, don’t bother wasting your money. Couldn’t be more dissatisfied with a product 3 weeks in. Application has substantial lag. Needs to be reloaded multiple times to get a connection only to lose it again within minutes

I have had some version of the sling player for many years and have been able to use successfully during my traveling and vacation periods. Also to be able to watch programming in my backyard during the warmer seasons. I have recommended sling box to many friends in past but in the last year I have had similar problems as others when using on devices such as iPhone and iPad Pro. Having waited for some time for the reprogramming to repair problems and not seeing any attempt in upgrades must say that unfortunately I can no longer recommending I am possibly going to remove sling box for good, (Frustrating)

The delays are so long between selecting the feature and the sling box response. Never used to be like this. Takes many connection attempts. Horrible. I paid for this!???

Yes to work reasonably well now doesn't restart video after 'remote' control. Sling is going to be replaced if it doesn't get it quality up.

When it works, the app is great. However, I think I've used it only once without having any connectivity issues. Granted, the slingbox website appears to suggest that these problems are due to my wifi connection. This app would be a lot better if it offered PIP.

One star is aspirational. This is the most expensive app, and lowest quality app I own. Constant crashes, huge disappointment.

Everything works great with iOS 12 and slingbox solo. Lost the PIP function though. Updates?

Worked great until last OS update. Please fix as we love the app using it for years until now.

The app simply won't play half the time. It used to work fine before recent updates. Pathetic.

Sling is very much not user friendly and tech support is not very helpful, probably due to the fact that they are either over whelmed, or they are a one person show and he/she is always busy developing new products. The concept is awesome, the execution needs some help. As long as you set it up right the first time, then good for you. Otherwise, forget it! Changing settings is not happening.

Several features no longer working.

I’ve been using slingbox for more than 10 years. Is it perfect? No, but it was THE BEST money I’ve ever spent. I travel internationally a lot, and never miss a show, my local news, record shows for watching in any time zone.....it gets only 4 stars as their support is not great, and there are occasions where it disconnects frequently, but benefits definitely outweigh these. If you travel, it’s a must!

I've had my Slingbox for about a year now. The app worked okay here and there early on but it has consistently worked terribly for the past 6-9 months. The app crashes regularly and, when it does work, the video regularly skips in and out every two seconds. I can never keep it connected to my tv via AirPlay. And while this is a review on the iOS app, it's worth noting that the web connection is just as spotty. I get the sense that the platform hasn't taken off for the company and they don't have the resources to keep optimized...or they don't care. If you're thinking about getting a Slingbox I'd recommend you look into other options. If you're like me, you might be looking for a way to get access to your home sports channels while on the road. Trust me, it's just not worth it.

I just read these reviews and saw the rating, and was worried for a minute. But couldn't be more pleased after buying. Worked right away, great quality signal.

No longer can get support. App just says Server Error. App Support link no longer connects. No response for two months to support on web page.

App is toast. Remote no longer works now. AirPlay is a joke. Before long this will be obsolete anyways.
