Don’t waste your time with this all you will get is a headache. Stops to load every 10 seconds and constantly crashes, it has been like this for over a year and they don’t seem to care about fixing it. If I could give it zero stars I would.

Navigation is so much better now. But this app won’t be complete until Multi-Users Profiles and Off-Line Downloads are available.

This app is trash. I NEVER write reviews, but I made time for this because it's just that bad. Sign-in process takes forever and I had to do it 4 times before it actually worked. It constantly has to load in the middle of your show. If you close the app and come back, it will jump to a random part of the episode that you weren't even on. It ruined the ending for me because it jumped to the end of the episode when I wasn't there yet. And it doesn't have your recently watched easily accessible. If I open the app and watch the same show every time, next time I open it those shows should be at the top. Why do I have to search for it EVERY time I open the app?? Annoying and unpleasant app to use.

Doesn’t matter if I’m using WiFi or not the app buffers every few minutes and at times I can’t even start it.

I don’t use this cell provider!!! Why can’t I log in anymore just using my Direct TV login like I can for EVERY OTHER GO APP??? You are stealing! Losers.

So for some reason, there are still numerous issues with their network accurately detecting how many streams are coming from one account. It can really derail your viewing experience. The reason for one star is despite this being an issue there is no quick fix. It’s a shame because everything else about the app works great, aside from this fatal flaw.

This app does not give you an option to log in through your Spectrum HBO GO subscription. Worthless. I used to be able to so before but no longer an option.

I appreciate the response I got from someone, in the end it was easier to just reset my password and re-login on everything but I appreciate anyone who’s reading reviews and willing to help. The app could be better but the shows are always great so I stick by HBO. Thanks!

So at first I could use this on all of my apple devices using my xfinity login and password, now it works on absolutely nothing. Just used the app yesterday and now today I can’t. What a bunch of garbage. Edit: even using the developer’s instructions it still doesn’t work. Don’t know if it’s an xfinity issue or an app issue but all it does is take me around in circles to where I can’t even sign in to my account. Second Edit: finally was able to sign in with Xfinity, now the AppleTV app refuses to work.

What’s the point of going in and signing in my TV provider though Apple’s settings only to have to do it all over again though the app’s own internal login? Isn’t that kinda the point of single sign-on? I’m surprised this bug has been in the app for months on end and still is not resolved.

Great app, just needs the ability to download content.

Keeps me going in a loop. Sign in - choose tv provider - xfinity - sign in - choose tv provider - xfinity - sign in - choose tv provide xfinity. It is maddening!!!!! So frustrating that I can only watch HBO on my tv at home. Never on my phone while I’m traveling.

Each person’s experience is different and I’m sure the having different providers providing access to the app adds variations in the end results. We have Comcast and have never had an issue with getting this app to work. I prefer using this one when on the go because it remembers my place in a show if I have to turn it off unlike when I try to do the same with my comcast app. Sign in is quick and easy for us too.

I tried to login today and it is basically telling me I am not an HBO subscriber with Google Fiber which I am. I actually have my HBO channel turned on on my tv right now. From the comments it looks like you are having this issue with several providers, so the issue seems to be on your end with the interface. When do you think you will have this resolved? It appears that this has been going on at least a week. I have spoken with Google Fiber & I know they are treating this as high priority and an outage, but it appears the resolution needs to me from your end.

It's just a loop of redirecting to subscribe to HBO or signin again. I'm not buying it twice.

The app is a piece of junk. I’ve had to reactivate this three times on my Xbox. This time for the past hour it just keeps saying there’s a problem with authentication please try again later.

This app is awful. When it works it’s great until it kicks you off and you are unable to log back in. The interface between HBO and the cable service provider is far from seamless. Why is it Netflix, Amazon Prime and Showtime mobile applications can keep me signed in with programming available in two touches but HBO requires so many sign ons, password verifications, cable service provider confirmations and texted codes that the service is unavailable or just not worth the inconvenience to access? HBO must think people are still watching their Televisions.

HBO listen up. Please put the shows that I watch in the home tab. There are plenty of Tabs where you can advertise your shows to me. Do something for your Viewers.

Talk about frustrating! I want to sign in. It first asks for my cable company which is spectrum. But it’s not on the list. At least 100 options not in alphabetical order. No way to search. Extreme poor design of an app.

Awful update! I used to stream with xfinity and now it says I have to add the hbo subscription but I already have hbo thru xfinity. Fix this or go back to the old version of the app!

The last 3 weeks this app has performed poorly and has stopped while I was watching shows. It stopped 4 times today while I was trying to watch a show. I am using an iPad.

If you included more cable providers, this app would be more useful.

Horrible. As everyone has said app design is not user friendly at all. It also has begun to get stuck and freezes ALL the time. So much so i can barely use the service.

I’ve installed and uninstalled a number of times, over a couple of years. I click on the icon and get a black screen. I usually watch or stream on TV, but it would be nice to watch away from home.

How do you not have all the providers? You do on your website.

i have hbo on my roku and love the fact that i can watch most of the things that netflix & hulu doesn’t have. but one of my issues is that i don’t have cable, therefore i can sign in using a tv provider nor can i find other ways to do it. not a lot of people can do this either.

You’d think for what I pay for HBO I could get this to work on my iPhone X? Lately I can’t even get it to login. I’ve had to delete the app several times and reinstall. Hoping it gets updated and redesigned soon.

The app is difficult to use; the automatic subscription detection is broken and it hangs frequently. The content is poor; too much pushing of political agendas and not enough entertainment and actual sport vice biased sports punditry.

Trying to enter directv login credentials on iPad. I use LastPass, so it is a pain if the r****** hbo app does not allow pasting the password. Not allowing pasting password on iOS is not more secure, it is just lazy/stupid. After entering username I have to toggle to lastpass to copy pwd. Toggle back to HBO go, as soon as I touch the password entry box, it treats it like I hit enter and goes off to try to authenticate with a blank password field. Doesn’t even give a chance to paste. Finally I opened lastpass on my computer, displayed the password and typed directly letter by letter. Authenticate never completed, it just went to a blank screen and stalled. I had no problem whatsoever logging into Showtime Anytime with the same credentials. Wasted 10+ minutes trying to use HBOGo App, it is 2018, by now there is no excuse for these things not to just work

Besides having to undo all my security setting to get this website to allow me to activate my device every time I want to sign in, its so frustrating when you jump through all those hoops to have the oops, something went wrong message as your end result as often as it does.

Used the app for years, and suddenly I get error notifications that it's incompatible with my cable provider. The HBO Go phone and web apps work fine, just the one on my iPad has had this freakout. This makes zero sense.

I was able to use the app for a while but it logged me out and now I’ve tried every way to log back in and it says my device isn’t activated or something but there isn’t any option to fix that so I’m just unable to use the app or watch anything from HBO now

This is not the first time I’ve tried to use the hbo go app and it’s saying that I don’t have an hbo subscription when I do. This is very frustrating because the main reason for the app is so I don’t have to always watch things on my tv, so something has to be done to this app.

I don’t know what is going on lately. I have previously used the app with no issues that I can recall. I just tried to use again this week after a few months probably and have only been able to successfully login twice. I constantly get a “network error” “we are having trouble connecting to HBO Go right now. Please try again.” When I select try again there is no change. I have tried resetting my ph, closing out of app and uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times. I even reach out by Twitter with no response.

Can not sign in no matter what I do. I have uninstalled, restarted, turned on, turned off and stood on one leg . It will not allow me to sign in. My subscription is active and internet working . Please fix !

I pay for HBO and should be able to stream from HBO Go but every time I select DirectTvNow I get an error code.

I love this app, but for some reason with the last update now it won’t let me sign in to my tv provider. I’m on an iPhone X trying to select Directv Now and it just sits at a black screen and never loads anything for me to sign in on. Horrible.

Cannot sign in with my Spectrum account yet I have HBO with them

It is very annoying to try to watch a show or movie that pauses to load every other minute. I have had this app on my phone and TV (it does it in both) for years! HBO PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!! It’s not my WiFi either because every other streaming app works great.

keeps saying I have to add it and sign in. when i go through the process to “add” it, says I already have it but won’t let me stream anything because I have to sign in!! 😡 then I start the process over again. total bs. fix your app please

hbo go needs to bring back Harry potter to all of the HP lovers out there. It is the ONLY reason i actually got this app. as for the kids shows, they are shows for THREE YEAR OLDS. You can make the watchers want to watch it!

Overall, I like the layout of Netflix better. I feel it’s easier to get back to shows you’re watching. However, I’ve never had any major issues with HBO GO and I love the shows they put out. I think if you are invested in the shows they produce it’s worth it.

Why is there 50 million cable providers and not the one I have to use this s***** app. Garbage.

Now I remember why I deleted this app forever ago: I can’t log into my cable account. My info is definitely correct. Keeps telling me my username and password aren’t right. Meh.

Having to constantly sign in and resign in, then type in your special code is so annoyingly redundant.. I pay for you service!!! Stop making me freaking work for it too or I’ll just cancel it!!!

One of the worst apps to sign-in with an active account, even worse if you want to activate other streaming devices. Glitchy, poor help instructions, and a really poor execution. If and when the app allows a paying subscriber to actually sign in, the content works fine. Not sure why this app hasn’t been corrected, other premium channel apps sign in and allow activating other devices just fine. This one is awful.

I continue receiving errror messages regarding my tv provider doesn’t support HBOGO. Called the provider and it’s an app issue. App crashes non stop also!

This works fine for me. I simply log into My Dish account in the settings on my iPhone and I am able to access content with all my tv apps such as this, Stars and History Channel. My only complaint is that you cannot download shows to view later without using cellular data like you can with the Netflix app.

Giving it 3 stars just cause i cant connect it to my tv other than that the app works fine.

All I get is a black screen on my phone.

What a pathetic excuse for an app. I know Time Warner now owns HBO, but this AOL like app is garbage. Too many negatives to list. If I didn’t like the content, I would have deleted the app a long time ago.

This app is one of the worst streaming apps out there, probably the worst. There is absolutely 0 options during streaming.

I used to love this app. But now, suddenly, HBO GO no longer supports Spectrum, even though we have an HBO subscription through Spectrum. It tells me to get a Time Warner ID. Time Warner is not available in my area so ‘no can do’: plus Time Warner is also no longer listed as a provider on HBO GO. Talk about going in circles! Obviously there is something going on between HBO and Spectrum/Time Warner, but neither is filling their customers in on what’s going on! VERY unhappy at this point!

Used this to log into hbo go on my iPad. Just watched first episode of sharp objects. Wasn’t any different than logging in from my desktop computer.

I've tried to login countless times. It keeps directing me to set up my att access ID, which I have, but then it keeps going back to the page where I have to choose my provider. I made progress at one point, but it told me I didn't have an HBO subscription, and I do. Doesn't work. Used to have no problem with it.

I’ve tried for weeks using the temporary passwords and user ids they’ve provided, and it’s impossible to sign in.

I love the AplleTV app, but there really needs to be a sub category to help scroll through the wonderful documentaries you guys have. You can keep it simple...sports, LGBTQ, celebs, reality...etc. it would be very helpful!

The app updated a couple days ago and logged me out on all devices. Which I try to log in I get caught in a loop-I get to the choose your provider page and every time I select Xfinity it loops me back to the same page 🙄 Super glad I can’t access their service that I pay for. We need a new update that fixes this bug! And yes I have deleted and redownloaded the app on multiple devices, the problem persists.

Totally unreliable. Most of the time it’s just a black screen. Shows stop at random. Takes forever for anything to load.

Tried to connect through my Apple TV using my AT&T Uverse account. The HBO Go account constantly gives me an error message that HBO is not included in my service with AT&T and call AT&T for assistance. Yes my service does include HBO, and AT&T verified it does! I spent over an hour during two calls with AT&T customer service trying to resolve with no success. They sent out a technician to my home to solve the problem after another hour, he was unable to get past the same error message from HBO. He even called his supervisor who was not able to figure out the problem. I then called the HBO GO help number and it directs you to their website! Really? No thanks. I have already wasted enough of my time on this, so,I called AT&T and dropped HBO from my service.

What happened to Xfinity/Comcast? It disappeared from providers sign-on list. Edited: Problem solved.

Had to redownload the app recently. Also should be able to download content for when internet/WiFi is unavailable.

This app is horrendously slow no matter what. If you think it’s my WiFi connection, you’d be wrong. Netflix and amazon prime work perfectly fine. Hbo go won’t play more than 15 seconds without buffering and then it goes so long that it says something is wrong and it cannot play the video. Check my internet? Yeah. Not the problem. Your awful app is the problem.

I am glad that I can use the app to watch some great hbo shows but I can’t save a series to my watch list?? Every time I want to go back to watching a series I have to go to the search bar and search it out or dig thru the home page and find it. I mean seriously ????? Come on!!!

Guys you didn't buy this app because it's a free bonus feature added on with your tv subscription. For me it's easy to log onto HBO and the tv verification process is faster then typing in all the info on a tv clicker which can be tedious sometimes. It's a waste of HBO's viable time and money to add on a search bar under the service providers panel. This app might not be so easy for older generations, but for me it works almost flawlessly. I can watch The Sopranos with no problems and I'm a happy camper overall. Think of the bigger picture guys, if this was HBO Now I would somewhat agree with the general audience, but, due to the generosity of HBO giving us this app as a bonus, be thankful. I wasn't payed to write this if you think I was un bias. These reviews probably do nothing anyways because people always will continue to download the app and my review was probably a waste of my time personally.

I have tried to log in with my Direct TV info numerous times. I have asked to reset my password and user ID and it still does not work. Repeatedly goes back to the beginning of the log in process with no reason. This app is a waste of time.

... you know the rest. And you also know the content is top notch. The app could use some polishing but it does the job of presenting the programming clearly and concisely. Supports Chromecast! Unfortunately the latest version seems to have a bug that affects the main screen, where you’ll get just a blank grey background with nothing showing or loading, so it’s useless for now.

It’s pretty sad the money hbo makes and they can’t improve the upload process. I get so sick of shows taking forever to load or sometimes they just buffer constantly. I know it’s not the network or WiFi signal bc I don’t have problems with other apps. If your not going to spend the extra money to make things work right and consistently they why bother even making a app? Companies like this make me sick, but want to charge an arm and a leg to have the subscriptions. I get it though, enjoy your fourth vacation house while you rip off your customers with the lowest quality of technology.

At least two times, on average, per movie, this app completely crashes. And when I finally get it back up and running again, it starts the movie 5 minutes off.

Their c***** app won’t work on iOS Safari to allow me to login to my TV provider... says I need to allow all 3rd party cookies, but they already are. I have no issues logging into any other network streaming apps.

Aside from being a horribly difficult app to navigate, it has an even more infuriating feature!! Are you streaming on your mobile device? Did someone just call you while you were watching a show? Well you better have been paying attention to your progression in the episode because once you open the app back up again it has no idea who you are or what you were previously doing. Sign back in (probably 7 times before it works) and then manually search for the show you WERE JUST WATCHING, then fast forward to where you think you were (and hope the app doesn’t tell you there was an error processing your request), then watch the loading dots for about 2 minutes before the show starts again. And if you were not at the correct place, hitting the +/- 10 second Button will cause the app to think for 53 seconds so you are better off just re watching what you have already seen SINCE ITS FASTER. LITERALLY THE WORST APP I HAVE EVER USED.

This will not allow me to connect to my Apple TV even though I subscribe to HBO through DIRECTV. It always redirects me to “Failure of server APACHE bridge”. I’ve wasted 20 minutes and keep getting the same message. No wonder this app has such a low rating.

I would give it no stars however that is not an option. The app continually logs me out of my devices if I don’t use it for several days at a time. Would be nice to watch at any given time. The process in setting up the app is asinine. I need to use my laptop due to being unable to use my iPad or iPhone. Let’s get it together HBO and take care of the consumer that takes care of you. Should this continue to be an issue I think I’ll get rid of HBO as well as your competitor Showtime. Seeing you both have the same garbage platforms.

When attempting to sign in, the “Choose Provider” button just takes you back to the list of shows, making the app literally unusable. And I’m a paying HBO subscriber. This is on my iphone. On my Sony smart TV, the app crashes (100% of the time) on opening. HBO seems like a surprisingly major brand to be releasing completely broken junk. Puzzlingly disappointing.

The app works great, when it works. However, the app will still crash from time to time if you try to do more than it can handle, especially when connected to chromecast or another device. The app will also spontaneously lose connection, even if your internet connection is stable. Overall, the app is great when it works correctly. The streaming is almost always high quality and buffering takes very little time, this is heavily dependent on your own connectivity, but it is also good to know that the service itself is highly responsive.

But works just fine on my Apple TV? Makes no sense.

App works great now after I was given great instructions keep up the good work.

The main complaint seems to be about the login procedure. It takes less than a minute. They have to verify that you are paying for the HBO service through a TV provider. You enter your account name and password and off you go. They can’t keep you signed in too long because you could quit the service and continue watching for free.

This use to be a great app but at this point in time, I can’t even login at all. It goes to black screen. Doesn’t work at all! Please fix!

The app will not open or load anything. No updates are available. Extremely frustrating. It has works in the past for me. Presently, it is useless.

It doesn’t feel as up-to-date as HBO Now, judging from friends who have it. And since that app is out, why does a cable subscriber like myself have to use use an outdated option that’s buggy? It doesn’t really make sense to have two separate apps, especially if there’s concentration on one over the other.

The app is great when it is flowing smooth but crashes when way too much.

The app works perfectly it remembers the last movie that I’m watching but it does not remember the exact place of the movie when I close the app.

It s nice to be able to see HBO movies and shows whenever you want. The app lets you do that, but it is frustrating to use. I like the -10s and +10s buttons that let you go 10 seconds back or ahead. Good luck with using them. You want to skip 10 sec of ads (to other HBO shows) or credits, press + 10s then you often have to wait more than 10s for buffering. Same if you want to skip more (slide the cursor): it’s buffering forever. Netflix app does not do that on the same WiFi network, so it’s the app, not the network. The app developers should watch other streaming apps and learn (if they have the knowledge to implement what they see). Also, please remove the ads, they are long and useless. We know what we want to see, that’s why we are using the app.

The HBO go app is so awkward and poorly organized it’s difficult to use frequently. The only reason I ever use it is as I have access to my parents account via their cable sub. however I’m sure they will cancel it soon as they rarely use HBO. other streaming apps like showtime Amazon and Netflix are great and I have no issue paying for him. My biggest problem with the HBO GO is their Apple TV4 app is simply atrocious. You are unable to seek through videos (except for at 10 seconds at a time). worse, every time you start an episode or video, because they insist upon showing that s***** seven second HBOGo logo clip at the beginning, once that’s done it wrongly brings up the box to jump to the next episode (just as the episode you want to watch is actually starting). bottom line is it takes about 30 seconds of messing with the remote / clicking / swiping to get EACH episode to start with HBO GO APP on Apple TV4, where as with all other streaming apps it’s just one click and you’re watching whatever episode (and you can see through a video which is not possible with HBO GO)

Have got use to having to reactive app every time I want to use it but now when I reactivate it I log in with my provider. It says I’m logged in and ready to go but never asks for the code

HBO introduced autoplay for the Apple TV. The best part, no options! You get the next episode even if you don't want it. Put something on and fall asleep? Well the whole season just played and wasted your limited internet bandwidth. Very useful. You sill have unlimited internet? Not for long.

Supposed to have access but HBO constantly logs me out and then acts like it’s never heard of me before. Every time I go to use it it’s a fiasco getting set up and then the next time same thing over again. Apparently the app is just meant to decorate my home screen with the HBO logo. Thanks for that

After years, and years, and years, and YEARS this app continues to offer the most pathetic, awful experience among any other premium network’s app. Chromecast integration is so incredibly buggy that I can’t make it through a single episode without multiple error interruptions. Want to scroll forward? Good luck! Want to start an episode from where you left off? Don’t think so! I’m so sick of this $&@! But apparently HBO is too busy making money to do anything about it.

If this were not built into my cable fees I would never pay for it separately as I have to sign in every time. How s***** is this? Imagine if we had to sign into to watch TV every day! HBO corporate are morons!

This app constantly signs me out and makes me go through the activation process on my Apple TV. Fix that problem and it’s worth a higher rating. Until then it is terrible to use.

My cable provide is not in either of the lists, even though I can access the app on my Roku and Android phone, and when I follow the troubleshooting steps online and delete the app, it now won't download again to my iPad.

This thing never remembers that you’ve signed into your (useless) cable provider. You’ll have to go through an arduous sign in process a million times. A complete pain. It’s even worse on the Apple TV. Have to activate it a million times.

Apparently this app is not for people who paid for the service through a cable provider such as “charter spectrum, Comcast, Cox, dish, xfinity, and many more”. If, like me, that is what you’ve done...there is no app for you and you can only access hbogo through a computer browser. ?

Every time a new version of app is pushed, I have to reauthenticate via my cable provider. Ridiculous.

App is great , just need a skip intro for users who doesn’t want to rewatch intros on each episode. This also applies to tv apps

I have Spectrum, and I can’t even get to be login screen to verify my login credentials with my provider. This is a pretty epic fail by HBO. It’s pretty sad honestly. I’m sure the devs have to be pretty ashamed.

I am trying to watch, and it says it can’t verify my Spectrum subscription and to call them. No, get your act together and give me the service I am paying for. This has happened before and it’s very frustrating.

I swear this app is so extremely frustrating... WiFi or not I can never sign into my account. The app freezes up..near impossible to use

I wish I could give this app negative 5 stars. I just want to sign in without a tv provider. I have turned off settings for tv provider and I also clicked don’t allow for tv provider. Still asks me for a f*n provider! It shouldn’t be this hard. Oh well, only 3 more times for 3 more GOT episodes and I’ll never use this trash again.

I had the app and it was working fine. All of a sudden it asking me to login with my subscriber ok no problem then it say that I have to purchase HBO to watch. It was free to watch only as long as you logged in with the cable provider now can watch anything. So disappointed I gave it 2 star and I had to take 1 away.

Ever since AT&T purchased directv the inevitable has happened...nothing works. Not sure if HBO doesn’t know how to coordinate with AT&T or if it’s Directv fault but this app doesn’t work.

I already pay to watch via my provider, why not allow a paying subscriber to download episodes so they can watch on an airplane or bus?

I have DirectTV Puerto Rico as my TV provider and my subscription includes HBO. For almost 2 weeks I’ve been trying to watch HBO series on app but I can’t even sign in. I follow all the steps but the app tells me: “There is a problem with your account. We cannot validate your information, please contact Customer Service.” I don’t have a problem with my account, I can sign in to the DirectTV app without any issue. I only have a problem with the HBO GO app. PLEASE HELP!!!

With new update the app won’t cast and crashes every few minutes. Unusable app.

This app is a let down in terms of loading speed and functionality.

The app works—it lets’s me watch game of thrones... that alone is sufficient for 5 stars

Overall disappointing, the app lags out on me and closes, sometimes the screen just goes black and I have to restart the whole app while I’m in the middle of a show. The website is no better either, I can’t press the 10 seconds back button without it taking me to another page it’s so frustrating and really ruins the experience. I’ll be looking forward to future updates that fixes these problems and the other problems people are listing

Updated again 5/5/19: my iPad did not recognize Charter/Spectrum as my provider. I signed out of Charter on my iPad then signed back in under Spectrum and now the HBO Go app works. That may help others who are having the same problem. Updated 5/4/19: I tried the steps to get in to HBOGo from the link as the representative said below and still can not get in to the app. It still shows three blinking dots but nothing else, then times out after entering Spectrum as my provider in the log in screen. I also contacted HBO with my information as the representative asked. Still not a happy customer. If something works so I can get in, I will change my 1 star rating for the HBO app. I really do not want to leave such a horrible review and hope HBO does whatever is necessary to make me a happy customer once again. HBO Go used to work on my iPad in the past but now it does not recognize Spectrum when I try to log in. I am paying for HBO but am not getting all of what I am paying for. What gives?

Kicked me out and wouldn’t accept email and password randomly. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING

I can never log in. I download the app and go to login on my ios device and it locks me out. I have been on calls with customer support with direct tv 5 times and have just given up.

When I’m on the “GO”, I’m usually not on WiFi. As such, I turn off WiFi and would expect my robust cellular data with a great provider to get the job done. I was excited about this app for about five minutes before realizing I have to try ten times before the show actually loads. And even then, I can’t get through five minutes without it freezing and trying to load. This app doesn’t work. Period.

This app is terrible, and on my devices, it’s always been terrible. With this version, I am in an endless loop trying to sign in, and each time it fails and I get an error message that HBO GO will now restart. When it restarts, I have to sign in, and then I get that error message, and round-n-round we go, in an endless loop.

The app will not let me sign in. It keeps directing me to the create a profile section. I’m unable to use the app.

I have Directv and am supposed to have access to this app through my satellite package but it won’t let me sign in with my credentials. I called Directv and they cannot figure out why it does not work. Disappointing.

Crashes on launch

This app is the worst streaming app I’ve ever used, and I’ve used several. It will generally play on my phone, but if I cast to my chrome cast it will pause and load about every 30 seconds and the image is blurry. None of the other apps- Hulu, Netflix, YouTubeTV, etc., do this. Watch HBO any other way- do not rely on this terrible app. I was contacted by HBO offering to help me reset my Chromecast(which I of course already did). I am not having problems with my Chromecast- EVERY other streaming app works fine with it. Only HBO GO lags, pauses, and is blurry. Once again, watch HBO any other way, do not use this terrible app.

Every time I attempt to sign in it states that it can’t verify my subscription. My hbo is playing fine through my cable tv. But not when I try to sign into the app. I Would really like to have access to the app. I previously had hbo now and had no problem logging in.. this is very disappointing.

Insanely glitchy app.

First, would you explain the scribbling ish.bo/Go-Apple-iOS? Do you need a special decoder ring to understand how to use that? Perhaps in your App designer joke book this is hilarious but I don't get it or have any idea how it would be used ... and....BTW the review section does not show it as a link on my IPAD. Second, Since ATT is done destroying Directv and Direct Now (I subscribed to both) they are turning their attention to HBO. Or maybe they have cut their experienced employee count to the point where there are only greenies left ... or maybe cut the budget (due to their $180 billion debt) to peanuts. ATT has the opposite of the Midas touch and continues to devalue what it acquires. I have never seen this level of incompetence in my 69 years on this planet. Kudos .... the first place award goes to ATT. And to add insult to injury, DTV tech last night said they had no control over this and to get in touch with HBO. Same mothership, ATT, now 2 f*cked up services. And let me point out I have the same issue on the Roku. ATT should be refunding customers period!

Seems to be a common theme... people can’t sign in, we right a review complaining about the problem then someone with customer service responds with a generic “try this tip” that doesn’t work. Or they say “we’ll pass it along..” worthless app and worthless customer service. Too bad they have all the rights to Thrones...

I have 8 HBO channels with DirecTv but HBO GO won’t let me even get started. The second I try to login, it rejects me saying I don’t have HBO with my TV Provider. I’ve called many times. Yes. I do. Have HBO. 8 times over, in fact. I’ve tried contacting HBO help, but every correspondence is like starting over from the beginning. “Hi. I’m here to help. Please provide me with this information...” You mean the same info that I’ve sent 4 times already? That same info that’s attached in your email? Copied in the thread. I can see it right there. OMG. Are you serious???? Wow.

I can’t watch anything on the app thats not kid friendly. It says my parental settings are provided the through my cable provider. Well i have parental settings set to R rated and it still locks all the shows.

I’ve tried all troubleshooting and this app still does not recognize I have HBO through DirectTV. I’ve called DirectTV/Att and spoken to their tech support and general customer service. Fully activated HBO and can sign into the direct tv app just fine to watch whatever.

HBO app one of the only apps that doesn’t allow downloading for offline use when traveling or in areas we little or no internet access. App works just fine on IPhone and IPad, as well as on my Samsung smart TV. No issues at all. Sign on was a breeze.

I can sign in using my PC but the app will not allow me to sign in with my att U-verse information.

UPDATE: STILL can’t login on the app. The “help” links did nothing. I get a message saying TWS doesn’t support HBOGO which is nonsense since it a) works on my Roku, b) works on my computer and c) used to work on my iPhone until a month ago. FIX THIS. All of a sudden I cannot login with my Spectrum account EVEN THOUGH I can use it online and on my Roku. There’s Charter Spectrum but no TW Spectrum for the APP, but on other devices it works. WHAT THE HELL? Why am I paying money for an HBO channel when I can’t use all the features?

The app will not let me login to my cable account. It is telling me that the cable doesn’t support HBO go, which is false because it does everywhere else.

As others have stated, the app is completely unusable at present. When attempting to choose your provider from the login screen, it immediately redirects to the previous page making login impossible. I followed their suggestions in the link provided by the automated responses to negative reviews, but still nothing. Worse still, HBO has completely removed any functionality to the HBO Go website in mobile. There is no option to view the desktop site, no option to log in, nothing. The only thing you can do is click a link which launches the aforementioned and entirely broken app.

You’ll never believe this....my HBO GO app is still garbage and I have to keep deleting it and reinstalling it to get it to work and it doesn’t always work then....fix this thing

The app is stuck in a provider. Every time I select select provider it just goes back to the home screen.

I’m only giving it 2 Stars because something is better than nothing and I love the sopranos and game of thrones. Anyway, I’ll obviously only watch on my phone when I have a minimal amount of free time (ie between classes), so I’ll often pause the show halfway through. The likelihood of this app remembering my correct stoping place is close to zero. I almost always have to manually find the location I left off of since this app seems to think I stopped 20 minutes sooner than I really did. It also frequently thinks I’m watching on another device and the buffering is much worse than Netflix.

Unfortunately the app is now unusable, you can't 'choose provider', clicking on it just jumps back to the previous screen. It's frustrating I'm paying for the service.. Also the link provided to other users with this issue doesn't address what is wrong.

Terrible experience- log in with xfinity and the the app keep saying “Unable to log in, please contact your TV provider” . Well I don’t have this issue with my Roku TV

The way the app has been running the last few months is terrible.

I have Cox so I figured the new seasons would be available but I’ve already seen everything I want that’s offered! I wanted to watch the last season at my boyfriends cuz that’s our thing but he no longer has HBO and I do so basically this app is worthless to me. I thought when I said I had Cox that I was being pretty obvious I also pay for HBO. At my friends house who doesn’t have HBO I wanted to use this app but it’s lacking. Sorry if there was confusion I just don’t see why I should pay $14.99 if I pay Cox communications for it.

I see HBO all over my feed on FB, I have HBO with my cable company, I thought it could be watched in México, Tijuana.. but It doesn’t work 😕

Doesn’t let you download movies/shows so you need to stream over wifi or cellular. Stupid that they haven’t changed this yet.

This is a shame. The app suddenly freezes every time I try to use. In the middle of a movie, or anything else I try to watch using my WIFI and the TV provider info.

Half the time the app does not work... it either stays black and doesn’t load on my phone or glitches and exits out of the app entirely. Then to try and watch a video is another frustrating venture. Sometimes it works and lets you watch a few episodes in a row without interruption. But most of the time I have to open up the app and restart everything just to try and get everything to load. Get better technology people HBO. I mean seriously you think you’d already have it with a 2 star rating... to have to pay extra for the service in the first place is ridiculous for it not to be working seamlessly.

Tried subscribing through the app , put my credit card Info and last step kicked me back to the beginning of the sign up ... got charged even though I was never given access to the service .. the did not want to provide a refund and receive the worst service over the phone . Even if I am not using it on any other screen, the app errors out saying multiple screens, exceeding max limit, being used.and I cannot watch anything after that. Please fix the bug. Not excepted from one of the most expensive steaming services in market.

Love HBO. Due to the DISH conflict I was forced to download app. I wish the app allowed offline reviewing. At least with my DISH app I could offline view HBO shows.

HBO now app as soon as I log in tell me that Parental control has blocked all videos and need to look at my TV providers parental control. Except I don’t have restriction on my TV provider (Xfinity). I am able to watch the video on HBOGO.com. Don’t waste your time downloading this piece of c*** app. Watch it on your cable provider APP.

If you’re trying to stream for the first 6 hours after a game of thrones episode is released...good luck with that. Been the same for years you’d think they could figure it out but the service crashes for hours after every game of thrones episode is released.

I have to login/sign on every single time I want to use the app. Why can all the other streaming apps remember my info and keep me signed in and HBO cannot? I was provoked to write a review this time because now since I’ve updated the app and signed in again I see you don’t have a “popular/recommended” selection for the movies. I can only choose by genre or scroll through all. And you’ve had some movies on your list for 10+ years I swear.

Half of the reason I got the phone plan I did is because it lets me ya HBO Go but the app always logs me out and never lets me log back in. I have been logged out for months unable to get back in. I feel robbed.

This truly is a terrible app. Anytime you click on the title it automatically starts the movie without giving you an option read about what the movie is about. I have had this app for quite some time and have been using it without any issue. I have been very happy with it. Now all of a sudden I cannot watch anything. When I try to watch something it prompts me to log in - that’s fine, I have no problem with that. But when I log in to my cable provider, I’m prompted to add HBO to my subscription, but I already have it. I even tried selecting the option to add HBO to my plan, but then I get the message that I already have it and to open the app. I go back to the app and the cycle starts all over again. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, but with no luck. Very frustrated. 😡 I love so many of HBO’s original series, but maybe it’s time to pull the plug.

My HBO subscription (Verizon FIOS) is recognized by my PS4 but neither I nor my husband can login to the HBO GO app using our iPhones (7 and X). It keeps telling us we don't have a subscription even though we clearly do. Unless this issue is resolved, the app is useless.

Reviews are right- not a user friendly app I had to delete and reload from device twice before I could even log in and it isn’t showing GoT current episodes. Trouble shooting options says “confirm current version of app” which I just downloaded.

Logging in with this all is THE WORST. I use ATT/DIRECT TV to login so maybe it’s ATT’s fault but this app loads my credentials maybe 50% of the time. Most times it’s 15-20 minutes to get logged in. No other streaming app has such a clunky login process. Really substandard for HBO.

The HBO troubleshooting recommendations for signing in to HBOgo simply do not work. Very frustrating.

PLEASE FIX THIS. A streaming app has one job and when you can’t even open the app for more than 2 seconds, what is the point?

We had previously had Verizon and switched to DIRECTV NOW. It was a pain to switch the HBO app to show that I wasn’t a Verizon customer anymore and get logged in under DN. I hadn’t used the app for a while and when I opened it recently, it still thinks I’m a Verizon customer, and now I get an error when I try to log in with the correct provider. Can’t use this app at all!

Wondering if anyone is having issues with signing in multiple times on Apple TV 4K. this didn't happen with my previous Apple Tv and I did try deleting and installing again.. if the developer can shed light on this is I'd appreciate it .. all my other apps that requires sign in are behaving... So it makes me think it's this app...

Since I’m not living in US and using an iPhone, once I downloaded this, intending to use it on my very phone I was informed by app that it’s not available in Serbia which caused quite some anger considering the fact that I’m about to pay 4,99€ a month which is nothing, we’d agree, but still presented in commercials as ‘’Watch on any platform’. Any suggestions?

I was really looking forward to this app. Even though there were mostly bad reviews I decided to try this out. I was trying to watch Game of Thrones and I had good WiFi/internet connection BUT IT WOULD NOT LOAD!!! I was trying everything. Shutting off my phone, closing out the app, turning my WiFi on and off. Nothing worked. This app has some serious problems.

This is a good app but those of you having trouble signing in. Try to turn off the HBO GO under the TV Provider that allows HBO GO to automatically sign in under your tv provider. For some reason this doesn’t work the way it should. You will have to look for your tv provider under the long list of providers, but this should work by doing it this way. Good luck 👍 Update: The HBOGO app for the AppleTV, this app shouldn’t sign you out automatically. HBO doesn’t seem like that there is a problem with that. All I want is to still be signed in, unless I want to sign myself out. Simple

I’ve been going in circles trying to sign in. And let me process the same in one time and I clicked keep me signed in and it still kicks me out. I haven’t been able to sign back in since it just keeps telling me to choose a provider over and over and over.

Loads the home screen and when anything is selected it goes to a black screen. Tried uninstall, WiFi, cellular and multiple programs and every time the same result. Blank screen and no video/audio. It’s shocking at this point that a company that has spent soo much on advertising this platform allows such garbage bags to undermine the brand. I’m actually embarrassed for you.

Menu button most of the time won’t load; if it does and I try to log on it just stays spinning at the signing in page, if I click a show it just shows a black page. Of COURSE this happens days before GoT premiere.

Every time I sign in it says successful but then it wants me to click my TV provider (again) and once I click spectrum it brings me to a loading screen. Then the loading screen brings me back to choose my TV provided over and over again. I can’t get passed it.

I reset my phone, restart the app, reset my internet, nothing seems to make the app work. It loads the first screen but if you try to sign in or click anything the screen goes black or just spins the loading animation forever.

Holy crap, is this the worst app I’ve ever used. I’m signed out every week and my direct tv now password is never valid when signing back in. Usually, I have to reset my password each time I want to use this. Tried to login today and now I can’t even get in the app after resetting my password + uninstalling/reinstalling the app. I’d give this zero stars if I could since it’s now utterly useless to me. 21 versions of the app and it’s still littered with defects. Do you guys take any pride in your work?

I don’t know about other people writing review but HBO GO with the AT&T plan work out for me pretty good. I have on my IPad, IPhone and Apple TV. The App gives me no trouble and I haven’t had problem since I got the Directv now plan in 2017. I’m lucky enough to stick around and be grandfather in the live little plan. HBO have some tweets and bugs but that like anyother Apps. HBO GO works fine with me.

When trying to chromecast from the HBO go app, the app crashes immediately when selecting the device you’re trying to cast to. Happens on my phone and my iPad, both running the latest version of iOS.

This app keeps saying my parental controls are set to PG-13. I have never set up parental controls and it makes me go through Comcast to change them. Upon going onto Comcast, it says parental controls are disabled! I have tried uninstalling, restarting my phone, everything!! Sooo frustrating! I just want to watch GoT!

I’m reading reviews and I’m so confused... I’ve never had any of the troubles I’m reading (although I usually watch from home so I can’t speak to off WiFi much). Of all the streaming/casting apps I have this one has the best quality. The only reason I’m deleting a star (which seems quite trivial now that I’m reading all the reviews) is that when I’m casting something, no matter how I navigate, I can’t add the very bottom episode/etc to my list, read a preview or anything. It being in bottom, when the s**** at the bottom is playing something or is on for whatever reason, you can only play the bottom choice, which makes it difficult when you’re trying to add something to your watch later list. You have to stop your program and go back in. Then go out. And replay. But wow! 😮 I’m so surprised everyone is having so much trouble. Cox, it maybe you can read through the complaints, figure out what the most common problems are and post something instructing people how to use it. Again, my works fine. There’s no reason everyone else should not have the same service that they ARE PAYING FOR.

It’s working perfectly fine for me. I use my college login and everything so I can watch Game of Thrones and I haven’t encountered any problems using the mobile app on WiFi or LTE. I can pick up right where I left off and it’s great. I’m not sure how it works on other devices, but it’s working fine for me personally.

Whenever I try to sign in using my xfinity info, the log in screen does not appear and the app takes me to HBO’s xfinity website where there is nowhere to log in. I am having this issue on my phone and laptop with different web browsers. All other provider logins are working.... Disappointing.

Quite possibly the worst app available for download. Not only does it not remember what I’ve been watching, but I have never been able to watch an entire episode uninterrupted. There are loading issues every single day.

Hi. This is actually a good app. It used to work only with WiFi and cellular but that’s not even the problem. I used it almost everyday but suddenly it just stopped working. I deleted it and uploaded it again and now I’m not able to use it because it’s an US app and now I can’t what my stuff, I can’t even open the app, it doesn’t let me. Ok... let me start off by saying that I have an account and it works perfectly fine on my PS4 and on my desktop. I type in my sign in information and BOOM I can enjoy what HBO Go has to offer.... try to sign onto the app? NOPE! I get told that my sign in information is incorrect every single time and then it locks the account... what the hell? You guys need to seriously fix your app for iPad/iPhone. I literally type the same exact information in when I sign in on my computer and have zero issues. I would’ve even rate this app a 1 star.

After about 15 minutes get error code and screen goes gray.

April 2019-going from one episode to the next in a season of a show is painful and obnoxious. I have to wonder if anyone from HBO is actually use this app. the apple tv version is just as bad, at the same thing, maybe worse. The HBO go app is so awkward and poorly organized it’s difficult to use frequently. The only reason I ever use it is as I have access to my parents account via their cable sub. however I’m sure they will cancel it soon as they rarely use HBO. other streaming apps like showtime Amazon and Netflix are great and I have no issue paying for him. My biggest problem with the HBO GO is their Apple TV4 app is simply atrocious. You are unable to seek through videos (except for at 10 seconds at a time). worse, every time you start an episode or video, because they insist upon showing that s***** seven second HBOGo logo clip at the beginning, once that’s done it wrongly brings up the box to jump to the next episode (just as the episode you want to watch is actually starting). bottom line is it takes about 30 seconds of messing with the remote / clicking / swiping to get EACH episode to start with HBO GO APP on Apple TV4, where as with all other streaming apps it’s just one click and you’re watching whatever episode (and you can see through a video which is not possible with HBO GO)

Altogether great app, but can we please get a skip intro feature, sort of the way Netflix has it? Watching the Game of Thrones intro over and over during a binge is overkill.

Like many in recent months, we decided to binge rewatch Game of Thrones because it had been many years since we first watched the show. We’ve had a subscription for HBO through Cox (cable) for decades. We also have the HBOGO app on our iPhones & iPads. I’m unsure if this is HBO’s problem or Cox’s problem. However, we have no issues with any of our other apps linked through Cox ... thus, I’m complaining to HBO. While using the app the past few weeks, it constantly signs us out of the app. Then it buffers and goes to “signing in”. You’d think it would automatically sign us back in through our cable provider and/or through the TV provider on our devices. No, sadly, it does not. It constantly requires us to enter our password multiple times PER DAY!!! It’s an awful viewing experience. We’re watching one show and it signs out during the show, requiring us to sign back in. What is going on?!!! We’ve experienced no problems with HBO on our TVs, yet this HBOGO app on iPhones & iPads has been horrendous. We have several streaming services and often use Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Showtime, etc. on our devices - all are superior viewing experiences compared to HBOGO. Of all the channels to watch, HBO charges the most of any service. They need to get it together for their loyal customers! I rarely leave comments in the App Store - maybe one every few years. This has been such a horrible experience for us that I felt I must provide feedback - surely we aren’t the only ones experiencing this problem. HBO: please fix your app now. The process of putting in my correct login information for my network provider from the activate HBO go site and getting back that it’s incorrect is frustrating. I even logged in normally on another page just to make sure. If I’m logged into HBO go in the app, why can’t I just cast it to the Roku player instead of going through this tedious and obviously broken process? Could be better.

Can’t do anything. Keeps forcing me to sign in. I am both a DirecTV subscriber, and an HBO subscriber. And yet, every time I try and sign in on this app it says “having trouble verifying your account. Would you like to sign in using a different TV provider?” What a bad joke!! Think about this, I hardly enjoy HBO as it is. Why would I subscribe to HBO more than once?? Even better, since I only have one TV provider, do you think the average person is going to have multiple tv providers?? The average person is cord cutting and doesn’t even want 1 tv provider!!

Worked great the first night I downloaded it. Ha ent been able to login sense. Keep getting an error message saying “Can’t verify subscription”. My subscription is good. Please send a fix!

Haven’t been able to login on any device (IPhone, desktop, laptop) in two days despite Fios telling me my subscription is fine. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling app, but still won’t let me sign in.

App won’t let me sign in at all. Sometimes it will load acting like it will, but never actually does anything. I’ve already left another review about this problem before the previous update and was told to contact the developers, which I did. No solution yet. And looking at the other reviews this is not an isolated problem. I’m sure I’m not alone in wishing this would get fixed before GoT comes back.

I can’t get this to sign me in at all. I’ve tried repeatedly, changed passwords, called tech support and even they can’t work. This supposed to be part of HBO subscription and so far it’s provided me nothing but anger and frustration. Fix this c*** as I’ve NEVER gotten this to work and I’ve tried for years!

The content on hbo is top notch, however the app interface and settings are terrible. For example I am in the middle of watching something, then press the home button to so something on another app. Then I come back to hbo and it has had a spell of amnesia. It never remembers what I was watching, or lists anything in a recently played/watched section. So every time I open it I have to navigate to it, remember what episode I’m on and go from there. Unbelievably frustrating for such an easy fix.

Although I pay for Hbo through my cable provider, the app still has the ordacity to tell me that they cannot verify my subscription through my tv provider. No matter how many calls, removing and re adding the app, or even using my tv provider wifi it still denies me. My next step will be removing Hbo from my account al together. There is not point in paying for hbo if i cannot watch it where ever i want. Signed Disappointed.

Have HBO through frontier and it won’t let me sign in, screen just goes black and boots me out

The main reason I got this app was to cast to my TV as I don’t have cable in my bedroom at school. This app’s chrome/smart cast functionality is terrible. I have yet to get it to work where it doesn’t error out after trying to cast a movie or episode to my smart TV. Also when connected to your smart tv you cannot tap any movie or show to get it to play, causing me to have to disconnect, navigate back to the movie or show, press play then try and reconnect to cast only to get an error again. Such a trash and poorly developed feature that other apps I’ve used had no problem doing.

When this app works, it’s good. The UI is nothing special, but that’s par for the course across all their supported devices. Cumbersome and behind the times seems to be the motive here. It isn’t pretty, but it works. The problem is once you begin watching something it hangs, often multiple times an episode or movie, requiring a full restart of the app. This app has potential, but it falls short.

I must be one of the very few lucky users. I have zero issues whether on wifi or on cell data. I like the UI and zero problems with it. Offline viewing would be nice.

Yes, it does let me watch HBO on the GO but it requires either WiFi or cellular. Even with the “WiFi only” selected it will just give notification and if you click it off, it will just use data... the app needs offline playback soooo bad. The rating is based on the lack of that feature. The menu is what it is, could also be a lot better but the one thing I’d love to see is offline playback. The data use per episode is roughly 0.75GB and unless you’re on an unlimited plan, that will add up super quickly. Even if you only allow downloads for original content (like Netflix does) it would be worth it since that’s what most of us are here for anyways.

Never works on the app but never connects to my chrome cast. Frustrating

It will not let me sign in with Direct TV on my phone or iPad. It says the app cannot verify my hbo subscription. The log in credentials I am using is correct. I have been working on this for hours. Direct TV says it is an issue with the app. What a pain.

I keep getting an error saying my login is wrong. My provider is Xfinity. I've verified my credentials are correct with my provider. I'm able to log into the Xfinity Stream app and watch HBO content there.

I don’t know why there are so many bad reviews. I am able to watch anything on WiFi or cellular. The only reason I wouldn’t give this app 5 stars is because there isn’t an option to download shows to watch offline.

Every time I click stream to chrome cast the app crashes. Completely worthless app.

Watched a single episode on phone then later tried to watch something on computer, but was stopped because it said I was streaming on too many devices. I tried to remedy this my logging out, but it didn’t work. Even deleting the app did not remedy this. Very disappointing app.

Doesn’t let you sign into your account unless you have a tv provider (I only pay for a monthly subscription thru them). Is not like Netflix.

So to disable the lock I need to disable across the whole account, I can’t just disable when I try to watch a movie by imputing the pic code on the fly. Useless.

I’ve followed all of the trouble shooting directions (deleted the app, reloaded, etc) but ever since the last update, I cannot log in. The screen just sits at the “signing in” loading page but never loads. I’ve tried multiple times over the last few days. I’m at the point of just canceling my package since I can’t even use it.

The HBO GO app has always been a little touchy but you could binge away to your heart’s content with minimal interruption. Over the last few months it’s gotten drastically worse. I now reset the app three times to get through a single hour-long episode. You would think WarnerMedia would invest as much in the delivery of their content as they do in the content itself.

After the last update (April 2, 2019), the app will only load the home screen, and goes black when content is selected to open. I have good connection to decent WiFi, so what's the problem????!

This is a very up and down app, either it works perfectly or it is a complete nightmare. Lately I have been running into issue with the app just restarting because it failed or something and just skipping on its own to the next episode in a series. Very frustrating.

You need to turn on the cellular data on the app in your settings. Stop blaming the company for user mistakes Common HBO what happened to Dish?? Am I going to have to Hack a fire stick to get this network for free??

Used chromecast for awhile on app, but all of sudden stopped working. Now every time I try to connect, the app crashes. I’ve deleted and downloaded it several times, same issue. Poor design and very buggy! Big let down.

Ok, Game of Thrones is pretty cool, but the second I start looking for something else, I’m disappointed. Literally the first two I clicked hated on Trump in the first minute, talked about petty forms of racism, and rich people ditching us for Mars. So I was offered HBO Go for free through my school. So I decided to go and give it a go and hop on this Game of Thrones wave while it lasted. While the service works well on my xbox, the mobile app has been a complete disaster so far. For starters, most of the time I cannot even use the app. For the record, the only two devices that I use to watch HBO are my xbox and my phone (well I try). Whenever I have tried to use my phone, I have gotten error messages telling me that I am streaming on too many devices at once. So what do I do? I go check that my HBO is turned off on my Xbox. Check. Then I try the phone again, and to my (un)suprise, nothing has changed. Then I unplugged my xbox completely, hoping that this would rectify this. Still no change. If I cannot stream on my phone, then how can this app be effective? Completely disappointed in HBO.

It’s not like HBO doesn’t know this is the case - in trying to make themselves about the content as opposed to being Netflix they’ve slacked h****** the interface. Forget curated content, they need to focus on updating this so it’s not glitchy/slow/unresponsive/poor when working. At this point the cost benefit of watching HBO over other places turns on the quality of the service not the content. It’s sad too because it’s another case where HBO has fallen behind resting on its own content laurels unable to see that access to and means of watching is more important - prime example of a company that went after top grads and candidates for their content group and then just filled hired the first resumes in on the UI team

I watch tv & movies on many apps, including amazon prime, hulu, Netflix, and I never experience the audio steam being out of sync with the video. But every single time I have tried to watch John Oliver via the HBO app the sound is so off I can’t even bear to watch it, and end up using YouTube despite having paid for HBO. Very Frustrating!

Most of the time that I start the app, the navigation bar is missing, leaving no way to login. I tried deleting the app and starting from scratch. Same problem. Tapping on any of the video previews from the home screen pushes to a blank black screen. The black screen has literally nothing on it. No back button, no nav bar, and nothing indicating that content is being loaded (waited awhile regardless). Essentially you’re stuck on this black screen!! Intermittently, I have seen the menu and been able to tap sign in. But tapping sign-in keeps me on a loading screen that surprise surprise doesn’t load anything. A few minor bugs are understandable, but this app literally has zero functionality. As it stands, HBO or Apple should remove this app from the App Store. I’m on an iPhone XS Max, iOS 12.2, and have tried both on LTE and very fast WiFi.

Couldn’t even get it to work. I was just in this endless loop of signing into my provider. Every time I signed in it would take me back to the same page where my provider was trying to get me to subscribe through them. Awful.

This app is so disappointing. The app service is horrible. It is not my data provider because I always end up having to change to Netflix or any other app and they never have the the same issue. I can not download episodes to save and watch later on my train ride to work. And where is the live tv for HBO?!

Lackluster UI. Search is limited, as is sorting and display. Frequently restarts. Interupted streaming/casting. Has been this way for years. Never can count on it to work if you really want to watch something.

I have an HBO subscription that I pay for on my Verizon FIOS TV service. But every time I use my FIOS information to login to HBOGO, I am told that an HBOGO subscription is required. And that I must have HBO on my current TV service. Well I 100% do have HBO on my Verizon TV service. I can watch the channel. So why can’t I login to the HBOGO app???

The app constantly thinks that multiple sources are streaming at once and refuses to let me watch on any other device for hours after I’ve finished streaming. Fix this and it’s a decent app.

“Service error. An error has occurred. HBO GO will now restart.” And restart. And restart. And restart. Even IF I get to the next stage of being able to select my service provider, it always says there’s an error there too and I can’t even put in my login information. Completely worthless platform.

Just trying to refresh on GOT but can’t even get signed into the app. I’ve been having this issue for weeks. The menu and search bar keeps disappearing, when attempting to sign in it won’t even let me get as far as entering my information. Please update ASAP.

Bugs when casting to TV. It’s easy to end up in a loop where you can’t cast, but can’t watch on the device because you’re over the subscriber limit. Also, the toolbar when casting isn’t a layer over the main screen, as you can still interface with items below the toolbar. Won’t pause the casting, but will start playing a new episode that happened to be below the pause icon on the toolbar.

Developer Stop Pushing the membership fees before the Free Trial ends. This is a dishonest business practice. It discourages members from becoming HBO GO Customers.

iPad functionality is weak. Why do I have to consistently log in to my tv provider account? This aspect is really annoying.

This is by far the worse streaming app. It's constantly disconnecting from google chromecast and throwing errors. The UI is atrocious and difficult to find what you're looking for. There's no list that is accessible to easily pick up and start watching say a show you watched yesterday. What you have is add to watchlist which is a joke. You'd have to add each individual episode of a show to do so.

Sadly, HBO’s so-so app design and functionality do not match their great content. The app lacks support for “full screen” border to border video on the iPhone X. Also, when in landscape view watching a movie, the little “home” bar at the bottom never goes away. In other video apps, the line at the bottom fades away after 10 seconds or so. This app should do the same but it doesn’t, so you’re stuck with that thin line at the bottom of all your horizontal videos. C’mon, HBO! It’s not like you’re a sporting goods company just dabbling in video apps—this is what you do! How could the HBO app not be THE BEST video app?

I’ve been having either the worst luck or something is wrong with the application. It won’t even open excel to a black screen on my phone. The website won’t play videos and also shows an error screen. I really don’t know what’s going wrong but I am really done trying with HBO Go

The streaming service is fine, but the iOS mobile app itself is terrible. Comparing to all the other services out there such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon video, HBO Go’s mobile app continues to disappoint. The UI is very clunky and not user friendly. It’s very difficult to navigate around. Not only that, something needs to be done about the poor streaming. Netflix is able to stream content with poor WiFi signal, albeit at lower quality, while HBO just stop completely and buffers forever. Needs some serious re-work. There isn’t even a list of recently watched. Abysmal at best.

About 2 months ago I opened this app to find that it wouldn’t accept my login info. Fast forward to today and I still can’t get in. It’s pretty pathetic that this app has had multiple updates since this problem started and none of them addressed it. Thankfully I can watch the same HBO content on the Xfinity Stream app. Deleting this waste of space.

I have tried everything to sign in with directv. I have even called directv and they said that it was a problem in your end. This needs to be fixed immediately.

This is literally the worst app. Never lets you login. There’s always some kind of issue. AT&T needs to stop buying other corporations. They ruin everything they touch.

Basically what the title says. It would be a good app if they updated the resolution for the 11-inch iPad Pro. It’s been about 6 weeks and it still has the black bars on the sides so you’re unable to watch videos full screen. Please fix that ASAP, thanks.

The app works great, when it works. The app will crash from time to time if you try to do more than it can handle, especially when connected to chromecast or another device. The app will also spontaneously lose connection, even if your internet connection is stable, though this is now very rare. Overall, the app is great when it works. The streaming is almost always high quality and buffering takes very little time, this is heavily dependent on your own connectivity, but it is also good to know that the service itself is highly responsive. They also just made an improvement to ‘favorites’: you can now add your favorite series to your list of favorites. Proof that if you have some patience, they will eventually help make the app better for everyone. Keep up the good work! Finally, anyone giving a low rating due to their own technical difficulties doesn’t know what they are doing. They obviously don’t know how to troubleshoot their own problems or request help through hbo’s support group, so don’t let those people influence your decision to use the app. It works fine for anyone who knows the basics.

Ever since I updated the app, it logged me off and it’s not letting me log in. It says “invalid authentication response” Please fix this, it is getting annoying, I even requested to change my password and I haven’t recieved the email to change it 😒

I just had to delete and reinstall the app on my Apple TV for the second time in a year. The activation website will only work on certain web browsers (not on Chrome) and only in portrait mode. I finally got it working, selected a movie, and it started playing something completely different.

I keep getting asked to subscribe or to renew my app. I renewed the app following the Code number etc. on TV, to no avail. What is going on?

This app used to work; I have a subscription to HBO. But after the recent update, the app no longer works; just get a black screen.

When I log in it just flickers and eventually prompts me to subscribe to HBO (I’ve had a subscription for years). This is the latest of many issues with this consistently buggy app.

Impossibly complicated to get ! Verizon and HBO subscriber
