This app is super convenient and works well. Only problem is that if left inactive for 2 days the app will shut down and require you to delete it and redownload it from the App Store.

I'm a busy person but I find that I can make dinner with one hand and learn French with the other. Literally the easiest way for me to accomplish this goal. Also, it might seem silly, but the shirt lessons with the bells really make me feel like I've accomplished setting even in a all chunk of time.

This software makes it very easy to learn the basic structure of the language. I have not spent enough time with it to figure out if it is enough to actually speak the language in real life conversation with someone. I believe that is what the online learning portion of the software is focused on. It is an extra charge for the online subscription and a hefty one at that!! This software may not make you fluent in the language without all the extras, but it seems like a great and easy way to start. Not to mention is actually makes it fun to learn a language.

Been using this for 6 months. In my case, forgetting English altogether and learning to directly associate without actually trying to mentally translate Russian words to English thoughts works best. It just comes to me without even thinking about it now... I cannot stress this enough - I’m not learning Russian words for English thoughts, I’m learning to think about the world around me in Russian, and I’m finding the word associations I’m building from scratch are just coming naturally. Also, and I really think this deserves credit - when the software waits and listens for you to say a phrase in the language you are learning, the software seems to be smart enough to start over when you do. For example, “l can’t ... I can’t hear this.” Is heard only as “I can’t hear this.” Your first attempt seems to be ignored.

Great app, but I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall at least every two days, when I get an error message and the app won’t open.

Really love the app but 100$ for the version is expensive. The price is great only reason this isn’t getting 5 stars. I would really appreciate this app being easier to obtain. Lesser expensive option; monthly subscription?

Lessons

The app is probably good for learning a language, but you’ll spend most of your time watching a spinning wheel while it talks to their slow servers. Any time you stay the app or a lesson it phones home to check your subscription. And that can take several minutes. So if you thought you’d practice a bit while you had a few minutes of time to kill, then forget it. Instead you’ll sit frustrated waiting for it to verify that you’re not a thief. Really lame.

The app is simple, however, they are really money monsters!! If you want to start a language but then decide a different language is more preferable that is considered 2 SEPARATE SUBSCRIPTIONS!!

I have no idea why it doesn't save my log in information whenever I quit this app, so I have to log in every time when I open this app after I restart my iPad.

I have tried other language learning platforms, and each time I end up coming back to Rosetta Stone. Despite time away, I seem to retain most of what I’ve learned in the past. The only problem I see is that I don’t get enough practice listening to and speaking longer blocks of text.

I’m moving into my second lesson and I love how you make it so easy to learn, using the pictures, the sounds, the vocabulary, all of it! I’ll recommend Rosetta Stone to everyone! I hope to be fluent in Spanish in 6 months and I know choosing this was the right thing to do☺️

I have been using this system for the past week. The way it teaches I feel really helps ingrain the words into my head. I’m excited to try further subjects that they provide where I am speaking whole sentences and paragraphs. I’m currently only on section 1.4 out of the complete system. There is a lot more learning that I will need to go over but as of right now it seems like a really good system. If I change my mind at a later date I will update my review but as of right now I feel it’s going to be a five star program.

I paid over $300 for Portuguese over 4 years ago, found out they kept renewing it every year! Paid $250 for Spanish almost 2 years ago, a Dec 6th, 2016 and to this day I don't have access to it. I have an activation code but it won't show up in my account online, won't show up on my Rosetta Stone online, no response from customer service.

This app is very shady about their renewal of subscription. I downloaded and deleted the app immediately and still got charged $109.99. Not worth your time!

Rosetta Stone is way better on the computer, the app doesn’t do it justice. This app isn’t bad- I wish that they had a portion of the Greek class go over the alphabet, because if I didn’t already know most of how it sounds then I would be kind of lost. But I guess that’s part of the immersion, so it’s not a totally bad thing —but the main thing that’s frustrating is the audio clips, as they tend to glitch out for me. So for the questions where they speak a phrase, almost every single time I can only hear a portion or a word of the phrase. Other times, I hear like a syllable. A weird noise and then that’s it. I’m not sure if this is only for Greek or not, I haven’t tried the other courses yet. This is why not having the alphabet part can be frustrating, because if I forget how a letter is pronounced, the audio clips can’t help. The app is also pretty slow. There are long delays between selecting an answer and having it register, and it’s crashed several times. I’m not too impressed with it. Overall, despite these bugs it’s not terrible. The lessons themselves are decent I guess- but even though the program is great on the computer, for an app you’re way better off with something like Duolingo, which is free and wayyy less buggy.

I really like Rosetta Stone. One quibble is there is a lot of information crammed into the UI. The phone interface could probably do with a bit of a rethink. The text can sometimes be hard to read. But it’s great on the iPad screen.

This is not a good app it just expects you to know the language it makes you take quizzes about words it hasn’t even told you about so i recommend to not get it.

I’m trying to learn Japanese (or whatever) to understand anime.I love watching it but I hate how I have to look at the subtitles to understand it.I downloaded this app so I could learn, not just jump right into it like I’m already an expert at it.T showed me pictures of people and threw words at me so I could put the words where I thought were the right places! And after that part, it showed me what the words meant.But sometimes it gave me random words for me to work with without even teaching me anything! I would recommend other learning apps over this one.

I’ve found the learning as a child might is very helpful. I think that some explanations would be helpful. There are many questions that come up in how to work your particular version and it’s not exactly easy to find answers. I do believe that the instructions were written by non English speakers or language wizards that haven’t excelled in instructional language.

It’s a good app overall but its buggy for iOS my mic system is works but the app will not pick up any audio whatsoever ever.

I like the presentation because you get pictures reinforced by the voices pronouncing the words, and see the printed words. I started out feeling shy about speaking out loud but when I started feeling more comfortable it became easier. I liked the instant gratification of the indicators letting me know how I did, instantly.

It’s so great, you can learn in small units of time anywhere.

I would consider purchasing, if there was an option for an advanced level. Great for flash cards, memorizing basic words. I need more of a dialect and conversation type learning? There are lessons that offer essentially the same learning platform for much less (cost). I could finish every lesson in this app in a week (3 month subscription not needed) AND STILL wouldn’t be close to fluent. Updated: the only advanced language learning is for “corporate only”. Well, la dee da.

I love learning a new language I am surprised how quickly I am catching on

Bought program. Doesn’t unlock paid features. Apple says contact company directly. Wrote to customer service with copies of receipt and nothing. No response. Contacted customer service chat and told team who fixes issue doesn’t work on weekends. So is u need something fixed by tier two team in USA buy on Monday so maybe they can have it working by Friday. Of course they don’t tell u that they don’t work weekends. Just stop communicating. Not even auto reply. So far the free program works fine. Of course they take your money easily and of course apple store can take your money just can’t be responsible for things they sell on their platform. Never been so disappointed in any product purchased through apple store.

This app is great and all, but I didn’t even do one lesson before I deleted the app. It still continues to send me e-mails and now it says I have to pay for the month now, and I don’t even have the app anymore.

I’m only on level 2 mandarin and I feel like I learned so much already. The lesson throws you right into short sentences and basic objects. Which at first was very intimidating. It doesn’t translate the meanings for you like one would learn in a traditional class. You just have to figure out what is going on or being said. But that’s the best part! After the end of level 1 you I was able to grasp one or two words in the phrases, enough to understand what the picture was describing. I.e. I know the word Apple, I see the word Apple in the test question, so I’ll match it with the picture of an Apple. Once you lean one or two key phrases or words they continue to reinforce those teachings and build off them in future lessons. It felt like I was leaning at an accelerated rate. But it wasn’t easy at first, failure was a close friend. Some time the pictures didn’t match what I thought. I.e. “Is the old payday the grandma, the aunt or the mother?...oh it’s the sister.” I would highly recommend Rosetta Stone.

Apple and Rosetta Stone have come together to provide an exceptionally c***** customer experience. If you buy the 12 month subscription it charges you for all 12 months at once and it won’t allow for a refund... not even a discounted or pro rated refund. Totally c*** in today’s day and age.

I have used this product and actually regret my purchase. It’s basically just flash cards with pictures. I just finished The Mimic Method so my standards are much higher. I suppose this is good for entertainment. The program doesn’t help with pronunciation and is easy to fool. I wanted to like but it’s not for me.

Difficult at first but find your Rhythm and keep going. Korean dramas are very entertaining and I hope to be able to view them without subtitles!

Don’t get me wrong, Rosetta Stone is great, but as expensive as it is for the software. You should not have to pay an extra $14 a month for a subscription. That should be included. It’s too ridiculous of a price, after dishing out the money for the software. I use the app Chinese Skill for great learning on the phone.

It teaches good so it has many problems for example it doesn't teach just it takes test very much .

I really enjoy using the app. I am studying abroad for college and it helps me get to know the language faster. The only issue is since the last update loading each of the sections I taking some time. Wish they would find more languages to put on here and not just the most popular languages.

Excellent and easy to use

I enjoy the repetition of the sounding of the syllabus, the words and pronunciations. Also the pictures of each example helps the memory remember when to use each article. For example: La, las, los, El, Ella Ella’s.

I’m currently using this app to help me learn Italian. I like the course structure of it but I find it very challenging at times... not because learning the language is hard but mostly because it doesn’t actually tell you what words mean. For example, it will show you pictures of objects, animals, and/or scenarios and then spell or speak what the word for that instance is. Which is easy for things like apples, horses, etc. but for “scenarios” like a room full of people and it says in Italian what I’m assuming means “what is he doing” it can be challenging because I’m actually not sure what they’re asking or referring to. So I use other apps like TinyCards and Duolingo just to play catch up. I would love the ability to break down sentences by word to better understand what I’m learning.

I liked it a lot cause it started out with basic words.. I haven’t finished yet but when I do I bet I’ll be fluent in my chosen language ( Spanish)

My only gripe is the price, but if it’s getting the job done, then what can I really complain about. Honestly the program works better with the online subscription rather than the download or the software disks. It’s more convenient and you won’t have to worry about purchace keys or rather or not your computer crashes. All you have to do is log in and get started. You can also log in on the Rosetta Stone mobile app, and continue your progress. I subbed to the 24 month plus 3 free months. I worked with Rosetta Stone while taking undergraduate courses in school. I’m sure within 24 plus months my fluency will be more than satisfactory for my move to the Canadian province by then. Good app. I only wish that I can give it 10 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Photos aren't clear... Therefore unnecessary mistakes are made. For example, can't tell if it's a girl or boy. Procedures /directions aren't always clear.

It no longer opens. Now getting auto-renew reminders even after I have cancelled it 3 times. Calling the number in the email is useless. Worked fine in the beginning, but beware of difficult customer service.

I highly recommend rosetta for spanish but i really don't think it is for beginners. If you have a basic knowledge of the spanish alphabet, pronounciations, grammer and how verbs are conjugated you will have an easier time with the program.

I work in a location where nearly everyone speaks French. I decided to try Rosetta Stone to help me learn so I can advance in my career. It’s very thorough when it comes to vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. It is also very simplistic in the way it teaches you words- (as in showing a picture of an apple labeled “un pomme”). However, I am not learning basic words to have a simple conversation. I do not know when someone is asking me how I am doing today, nor can I respond. But I do know how to say “The horse is swimming.” It would be more helpful to me, if I could start off learning things to say in an every day conversation, instead of something like “The cat drinks milk.”

Took Spanish years ago and lived in Panama for 3 years in the late 80s. I wanted to relearn the conversational skills and thus far in the beginning stages of Rosetta Stone, I’m remembering a lot. Good program.

Upon starting french lesson 1.4, the app crashes. The lessons seem perfectly fine, it’s just that this bug is getting in my way of learning.

I cannot sign in because I don’t have a account so I have to delete it but it looks interesting

I like Rosetta Stone so far as I’m learning German right now but my major issue is once you start getting to learn more advanced wording and words that have specific meanings or multiple meanings. It’s hard to learn them by just using a picture which sometimes can be deceiving, it would be awesome if you guys could add in what the word means in English or your native language to help learn specific things easier after you get the question correct.

Very simple and easy takes slow steps but this should not be the only way you learn Spanish. Maybe watch movies or listen to music in spanish

You can’t download this app and begin learning straight away. This app takes time to figure out how to navigate. You are forced to use it in landscape mode and simple actions like swiping up or left are not functions built into this app. It’s very unnatural to use. I’m glad I only had the trial because I would have been extremely dissatisfied with this expensive app on my phone. Do yourself a favor and download the green app with the owl on it. Much better - and free to boot.

I have always used say hi on my amazon Alexa to learn French but I thought I’d try this app instead and I’m learning at my own pace and I actually am learning so I highly recommend this app

The short lessons make fitting in a bit of learning everyday easy. The interactive features make it fun. So glad I am giving it a try before we travel.

The only thing i do not like about Rosetta Stone...The ONLY thing!... is that i have to keep leaving the app to look up the definition of new words. I love everything else! I can go to work or run errands and listen to the audio, I can read stories as i progress (“new words” issue) and i can take my time on the core lessons. Thanks to the low monthly payments, i can finally take advantage of learning Portuguese! Obrigada, Rosetta Stone!

I love it

This app hasn’t improved in years. It’s glitchy, it hangs and crashes, loses the ability to listen, doesn’t reliably work in off line mode, and is only usable by one device. So if I want some phrases to practice on my iPhone, it will delete them from my iPad, on which I do all my lessons. Considering the price, and the level of competition out there, I’d advise you to look elsewhere.

I Love every thing about it, but you have to pay for the full effect. I feel like you can have a pretty good conversation even without the the full app.

I love the interface. Having only gone through the 4th lesson I’m unsure if I’ve actually learned anything.

I hate how they put word that sound alike but are spelled differently together in speaking level.

I purchased this app just over a year ago. I paid for a lifetime subscription. $199.99. It constantly locked me out saying I had the wrong password and let me access a dozen times in all. I changed phones and downloaded the app again and when I did I had to chose which payment option or subscription option I wanted. I had already paid $199.99 for the app, so I chose lifetime thinking that it would restore my purchase. It charged me an additional $199.99 for the app. When I reached out to Rosetta Stone they said they had nothing to do with the apps on the iTunes and to contact the apple store. I contacted the apple store and the apple store looked back on the records and verified that I had made a previous lifetime purchase. And then they compared the current version to the previous version of Rosetta Stone. There was a slight variation that made my lifetime subscription obsolete. I paid $399.98 for a mediocre app. If you are considering studying a language take your hundreds of dollars and go somewhere else. I would love a full refund of all $400.00 No luck as of 5 Aug 2018.

Their teaching me Spanish words but I have no idea what they mean it’s stupid

This app is incredible! I just started about 45 min ago and I’m already getting the hang of things. Although I do have to infer what a lot of words mean but I eventually get it!!!

Rosetta Stone is my favorite app for learning Italian. I’ve been using it along with DuoLingo, Tiny Cards, and Babbel. That said, I would like to point out a few things that could be improved. First of all, I was a teacher for a long time, and one of the things that I tried never to make my students do was “guess what’s on the teacher’s mind.” This happens quite often in Rosetta Stone. The pictures are often ambiguous, which would be all right if one had the time to figure out which picture was the correct one. There is, however, a game show type of buzzer sitting on your shoulder as you stumble to come up with the correct answer. Another revision I would make is to provide references for the grammar sections. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand,say, the difference between QUALI and QUALE. If you want to learn the difference, you have to close the app and then search elsewhere for the information. DuoLingo provides a discussion with each translation, which I have found to be a helpful learning avenue. One more thing: RS labors to provide a diverse population in their pictures and succeeds, except for their references to “old age” people. It’s rather amusing.

Slow but sure!!!

Signed up for Tagalog and as soon as I select the first lesson, the iOS app crashes. I tried accessing the lessons on my laptop and none of them appear when I sign in. Now I have a subscription for a language I would love to learn in time for a trip and have no way of using it. Really disappointed.

I tried multiple apps to help me learn more Greek. It I didn't get it when I tried Rosetta Stone I learned Greek very quickly. Now I will know Greek when I go on vacation to Greece. Thank u Rosetta Stone!

The app crashes every time I login and go back to lesson one. I called customer support case #06894390 and was told to update my iPad and iPhone software which I did. I removed and reinstalled the app several times and still the same issue. If I’m being charged $109 upfront you would think this works out the box. Basically I then get stuck with issues going forward. In terms of the software : matching up pictures and speaking without a true sense of what the words mean by matching pictures and without writing the word, in my opinion doesn’t help to understand a language.

It is so wonderfully interactive I am picking up understanding and pronunciation much fast than I did trying to learn Spanish from a text book. I use my IPad and can take it with me everywhere!

I was preparing for a trip to Columbia, and must say, this app works like a charm! Within a few minutes I could not put it down! It’s entertaining, yet helps you learn Spanish. The one thing I don’t like though is how you have to purchase full access. Other than that, it’s a great app, and I would highly recommend it!

The app is unusable now with version 5.5. Every time I log in and try to select a lesson it force closes every time and sends me back to the home screen logging me out. Otherwise I give it 5 stars. I hope they fix it soon.

Good app but the fact that I have to use pictures to understand what I’m saying is completely trash and very not useful. How am I suppose to learn Spanish by pictures? Lol. What is this? Sign language? There’s no captions or nothing. That makes me delete the app sorry.

I find it exciting to be learning Spanish. The program is easy to follow and totally makes sense to learn this way.

This app is weird, stupid, obscure and terrible. I think the reviews that are positive are fake. Deliberately confusing seems to be the modus operandi. I have learned much, much more from the free version of Duolingo. One thing you need to know about Duolingo is you can get health back by practice. This app seemed good during the small free part, it’s no surprise they want you to pay for the whole thing upfront, no one would continue if it were a monthly plan. Save your money! Ridiculous scenarios are given with vague pictures and you’re supposed to supply the dialogue, I couldn’t provide the dialogue in my native language let alone in a foreign language. Stupid s***** s***** deliberately vague aggravating, and they know it and don’t do anything about it. The microphone works only intermittently sometimes the speakers don’t work either, supposedly the app is saying something but you don’t hear anything and it Marks you wrong when it’s never said anything. Incredibly aggravating makes my blood boil. I don’t know why I ever spent any money on this app. It p***** me off to read all the reviews and they tell you to go inside the app and report the problem. I took the time to tell you what the problem was- go fix it don’t tell me to go report it somewhere else!

I am learning, but I’m wishing for an option to have the words defined instead of not at all. It would be more effective for my learning style

In first lesson two pictures do not march the accepted sentences. This should be corrected in the app.

This app is great. I wanted learn German, so I download the app and do my first lesson. But wait! I have to pay a fee!? Of course, so I delete it and download Duolingo. Duolingo has all the same features and it’s free. Why would I pay for this when you can get Duolingo free?

I have tried many times over the years to learn Spanish and i find my self quitting in the beginning because I start getting too busy and spending most of my days running but it RS makes lessons on the go so easy and so far its the least buggy of all the apps id say not buggy at all but sometimes it will keep popping up a message that ask if I'm sure i want to skip ahead but I’ve not missed anything that i can see. It will still let me continue my lessons though and the next day it’s usually not asking anymore. Many apps I’ve tried are set up differently using your language to teach i guess is a good way to put it but RS works more like emersion which for me works so much better. The other way my speach is always slower. Sometimes it’s a challenge with this app to understand at first what person it’s meaning them vs us ... but it sort of keeps growing and its included as you progress within the lesson and you’ll automatically understand by the time the review comes . I like that its feels kinda like a game and also that it lets me go back to were i messed up and learn from my mistakes without having to repeat the entire lesson. Its faster and easier than the high school courses i took. I re learned in a week what it took the teacher an entire semester to finish going over. The extra features are nice to practice too the app even comes with stories to read for practice. I will admit it is soooo expensive so be very aware at check out which you click because its a one time charge not a monthly small payment. I went with the lifetime one because the other only gives you access for up to 2 years (also i don't know if they auto renew but id assume yes probably About the time id forget to be expecting it to charge) vs paying a little more for not having to ever pay it again and getting to do it as a review anytime you want in the future. But if you really want to learn and your other attempts have failed it’s a great app and to me very worth it. It has an option to download lessons and the extras so you can use it without cell service or internet too. If you live in the middle of no where like i do its a huge help.

Just started using this. So far I like it. The only thing i dislike is that there’s no English translation. Meaning they don’t show you the translation of what your learning in your language. So for example it tells you and shows you how to say it in Spanish but there’s no English translation so you know exactly what your saying. All you have to go by are the pictures.

I found my way to this app after I had done some Duolingo.I am learning french and if anyone is learning french they also know how particular it can be. When I got to a certain point on Duolingo they made it difficult for me because all they want you to do is translate things into your own language. While I understand their point, it didn’t work for me and maybe Duolingo is good for a language that you just want to brush up on. Once I got Rosetta Stone though I made more progress and I continue to...I am also close to a native french speaker so that’s kind of an unfair advantage but with Rosetta Stone’s immersion technique you don’t see any of your first language in the lessons (other than things like pause and the names of the units and lessons of course) and that helps me stay focused and learn in the best way possible. I do plan on reading books in French after and finish a workbook (as I would recommend anyone do) because (at the moment) with my version of Rosetta Stone I don’t ever get to type out sentences as a mean of practicing grammar. Hopefully I will be able to come back and write a review in French :)

Love the pronunciations with the pictures, makes learning easier and actually kind of fun!

This app was recommended to me by a friend, saying it would be a great tool to learn languages with. So I decided to try it. I signed up and got started. The first lesson was great. It was free and easy to understand. I was happy. Until after that lesson, when you’re prompted to pay for more lessons. So obviously I didn’t want to pay THAT much for a language app, so I just left it for a while. Until I checked my Email. It was flooded with mail from Rosetta Stone, talking about its promotions and things I weren’t interested in. I unsubscribed and hoped that no more would come. I was wrong. They kept coming and coming. I don’t recommend this.

A little over a month ago I attempted to buy a language for about $200. It told me the purchase never went through. I recently saw that I was charged for the language, but don’t have access to it. Apple and Rosetta Stone are now giving me the run around telling me I should contact the other. If you like sending money to a giant company and getting nothing in return Rosetta Stone is for you.

I’ve had Rosetta Stone for several years and have not put time into it. I’ve recently picked it back up and started training and realized that it still the most relevant Speech learning system I’ve seen on the market today!

Though expensive, this is truly the best way to learn a language. I like that I can use my app and account on my phone, iPad and laptop.

I remember the days when they didn’t charge you a monthly fee, and you had the option to buy the cd or download the program for one fee and keep it for life. They got greedy though and now they mans you pay for every month you want to use it. Pathetic.

After every learning blurb you hear “la Bebe” Almost cancelled the subscription. It’s annoying.

This app is buggy. Very very buggy. So is their website which still uses the Flash plugin. I signed up for a 3 month subscription to one of their courses through the app and it generated two separate subscriptions and charged me for a year of courses for each of the two subscriptions!!!! OMG!!!! Also, the subscriptions are set to auto-renew and the only way to cancel is to contact Apple. Rosetta Stone will not help or give refunds. You’ve been warned. Also, the settings within the app don’t work. I tried turning off the reading aspect of a course and it did not work, so I was stuck on a section and could not proceed through the course at all.

I rated this a 3 Star because as an owner of 5 different languages I set up for polish on the computer which I should have access to the iPad and iPhone version. I don’t. It’s asking for a separate subscription..... Help me change this and I’ll change my rating.

It’s like how I learned to speak English at nine years old. I was immersed in the culture, placed in third grade not speaking a word of English.

The system of learning is excellent. It is comprehensive in that it uses everyday imagery to internalize linguistics with concepts. The system is progressive and carefully constructed to train the ear, pronunciation, and the grammar is introduced closest to how one would adapt language naturally.

I have taken German classes in both high school and college, so I have a good background in grammar and basic vocabulary. This system trains the learner in practical conversational German. It also allows the learner to improve pronunciation better than any classroom setting can.

I’ve paid for the full access and i am unable to access what I paid for. I’ve done the troubleshooting steps undownloading and redownloading restore purchases but it says I have no purchases to restore. You’ve already taken my money so whats the deal?!

This app isn’t a good learning tool. I couldn’t make it through the first lesson for German on an iPhone 8 Plus and I already speak some German!! 1. They never tell you the English word or phrase you are learning. Instead, you get only a picture that you have to try to interpret the correct English word that it correlates to. 2. I tried like 8 times to say guten tag and it kept spelling the word like it was saying it then showed a red x and said I failed and kept ending the lesson. I became so frustrated I deleted the app after a few failed attempts at the first word in lesson one. Just horrible. Why anyone would pay for this, I will never be able to understand.

As someone who was raised in America the education system cares little for anything foreign. Therefore, they only teach Spanish, and although it is a beautiful language I always wanted to learn French. However I only knew English until now, and so learning entirely new sounds, grammar, and etc. isn’t easy but Rosetta Stone took an amazing approach. I truly am loving learning

I love Japan so I wanted to visit there but I didn’t speak Japanese... so I got his app! It’s amazing, like I learned a lot of words in a few minutes, even my parents were surprised! I can speak short sentences now, I’m thinking about spending money to get all access... anyways, it’s really great. It teaches you good, but you need to pay attention and memorize it yourself ;) I recommend that you should do the same things at least once a day~

I’m confused most of the time. It doesn’t tell you what things mean, it just shows you pictures. You need to know exactly what they mean, not what they generally mean. It’s a very bad way of teaching.

Rosetta has decent mobile lessons and great graphics but it could use a central story to the lessons and a lot more general repetition. Rosetta could also provide explanation of the rules of the language. Children don’t need explanations of grammatical rules but adults need them. Learning a language isn’t easy, it requires a lot of work.

Since I used to use the program in my laptop to learn English It’s was really helpful for me and make you learn the luggage so fast I’m learning korean now I truly love it I finished three lessons so far I’m so so happy I didn’t know it was in AppStore too

You can get equivalent or better apps at much cheaper prices. Rosetta Stone hasn’t changed their lessons in years. They were fine pre-internet but they seem more suited to something for your grandparents.

In the app it shows manage App subscriptions; yet you can’t set it up as billed through your Apple Subscriptions. You have to do it Web, then in my case, we chose the three payment plan; but I had to cancel the card before the last payment due to fraud. Getting it switched is near impossible!!! I have to wait for their hours and attempt to call and stay on hold. Get the billing fixed and the App is a five!

The difference techniques are helping me to understand French but it is a process for sure. You have to figure out somethings to get the knowledge of plural and singular words .

In Germany learning German with Rosetta Stone. There are a few things we’ve found to be said differently than we were taught but other than that, I love it.

I have this app through my work and have been wanting to learn to speak in Tagalog for a very long time. The app was working just fine until now. Now every time I log in and pick a lesson it force closes on me. I have plenty of space on my phone, there are no apps currently running in the background, and I have turned off my phone all together, but I still cannot get program to run.

I am really enjoying this practice! Absolutely intuitive and I am learning so fast! I am teaching my 4 year old at the same time and she is having so much fun!

Very convenient app. I love that you can speak into the mic and it tells you if your pronunciation is correct or not.

I usually don’t get irritated by this but the gender stereotyping in the pictures is too much. The males are pictured consistently as businessmen and competitive athletes while the females are exclusively pictured in social settings. It is so extreme that I just can’t take it. The app may be great but please update the pictures to reflect the diversity of choices available to both genders.

My French accent is very good and I am level two. The dictation system can’t even hear the most basic word, for example when I said, “non.” That is a very simple word to pronounce and it didn’t pick it up. That same thing happened numerous times during the sections where I have to repeat words, and as I said. In addition, the system frequently skips over answers. It will read something and then it won’t allow me to speak it when I am supposed to. It just goes to the next item. Finally it frequently gets stuck. This app is really buggy and not worth $100. Also, it won’t allow me to send feedback on the section that says provide feedback/report a problem. It says the email address is invalid. This app really needs some work. It’s very frustrating and not worth all that money. ADDED: Rosetta Stone reached out to me with a case number and offered to try to resolve my issues, which I thought was very nice. But when I went to their online chat feature and input my information and case number, the system thanked me for submitting my case and sent me an email with a new case number. Unclear why that happened, I went back into the online chat feature with my new case number and it just circled around for 10 minutes waiting to find someone to help me. Guys! Enter the 21st Century! Language may be your specialty, but it won’t keep your business running if you don’t have functioning technology for your app and customer service. I have moved on to another language app that’s free with ads.

Just got the app yesterday and can’t stop learning! No joke. I’m doing the Farsi course and this morning I’m singing the phrases to my dog like I normally babble to her in english. I don’t know what it is about this program (probably because I didn’t spend years of my life learning about speech patterns and computers and microphones or any of the stuff that this app utilizes) and I don’t expect to know what it is about this program that works but there’s something to it and I’m hooked.

I am half way finished with the spanish version. I feel that this is the best way to learn short of moving to a spanish speaking country

I order beginning Rosetta Stone Spanish Latin American. It put me right at saying full on sentences. Yes, their are pictures, but it would help if it said the phrase in the persons first language then the language they would like to learn. [English/Spanish]. This way you are able to comprehend what you are learning. Not just seeing a picture and hope you are right. I had a Spanish/ English dictionary out to help me understand words. When I called customer service to ask why they do it this way. All he could say is this is how it is made. You learn and you would your first language..... not good answer. Rosetta Stone you need to change the format to fit others needs.

Ok here’s my issue. I’m gonna try and make it short and ‘sweet’ hopefully. But basically I want to learn something else. And I decided to buy this app. I ended up only learning very little to nothing. So I’m writing this review because this app is..ok? You guys make us have to pay for every lesson I feel. And if u actually want more thing you can make like a little section for vip only that costs maybe 10$ or so idk, and people will actually like it like that. Like other reviewers, I too was conned into “subscribing” even though I attempted to cancel my three day trial on the third day. Now there appears to be no recourse, as I can’t find a link or phone number for someone to speak with. Shady, shady business practices by the developers and or Rosetta Stone brand.

This is the most amazing app for language learning by the only thing is. This app glitches and sometimes just shut down. But it’s not so bad that your not learning but it will have it’s moments.

All you will get is phrases to repeat and a rotation of similar pictures used with phrase. Nothing else. There is no dictionary, there is no translation. So when you see a boy with a glass of liquid is the phrase “a boy is drinking” or “a boy drinks” or “boy with a glass”? Rosetta Stone won’t tell you. How about two pictures of people in a car and two slightly different phrases. I can what see what’s different in the pictures and the phrases. There’s not a single glimmer of meaning. Is it about the driver, the backseat, what? I’m stuck on lesson two and I don’t understand a single thing and I can’t get any help. They’ll refer to support materials. It’s just everything you don’t understand on paper and just as useless as their support. I’d like to also point out that most people, in their own native language, will occasionally have to go to a dictionary or ask someone to clarify what is being said. Rosetta Stone feels their program doesn’t need any that. So let me repeat- there is no translation or dictionary. The support materials are just a print version of what you see on screen. There’s nothing else.

I've been using Rosetta Stone in conjunction with other Spanish language apps to recall what I learned in school and move toward fluency. The photographic exercises are great and help me think more in Spanish, as well as clarifying some things I didn't get. The new, less demanding voice recognition is much better than in the past and let's you know when you have to improve while letting you move on. Sometimes you have to delete and reinstall the app, which is annoying, but It's great at what it does.

I bought the subscription for my husband to learn mandarin. I was hoping this famous brand can live up to expectation, but all the software did was to ask people clicking the right picture while listening to an audio clip. My husband was using another app to learn and it taught him from grammar to writing, much more in depth and hands on than Rosetta Stone, not to mention that it’s also much cheaper. Both my husband and I think this is not the right way to learn a new language and the money is not worth it.

For the past week or so, most times I go to the app it won’t even open. An error message pops up saying “Please try again (RosettaStoneLanguages.CourseStore- Error - 0)” idk what this means but I do know that o paid my fee to use this app and its an inconvenience and a waste to not be able to use it. I like the app/program other wise so far.

Very good app, I just with they had better vocab and grammar break down by a teacher, they just say things to you in Japanese and you just do it there’s no helping hint to how things work with grammar, u just gotta do it

This app will help you have basic conversations with Spanish Speakers. Besides this, listen to podcasts, speak with friends, and get a Spanish grammar book. You’ll be speaking fluently in 2 years. It’s hard work but it’s definitely worth it.

I’m having a ball using this app to learn French. I wish I had this in college, when I struggled through 12 credit hours.

And it’s unfair to the people who can’t pay which means if u can’t pay u can’t learn! What if people don’t have a lot of money? Well I can’t learn so I guess I’ll have to ask my mom and grandma to help me... 😪

The app is good but for the love of everything watch your subscription! They take 6, 12, or 24 months with no reminders, even though they definitely have your email because you get a bunch of marketing. I didn’t realize that it was Auto renewal which is a bit sneaky in my opinion. The app itself is good for the listening and comprehension, but as others have noted the speaking is pretty bad.

I want to perfect what I know although I don’t know if the program will take me there. I do not see an outline or template of what I would be learning if I unlock the lessons after purchasing.

Trust me it is so much better to know what words mean to learn the language properly. It’s important to know meaning of words specifically and their different forms and how to use them in a sentence. Rosetta Stone does not do this. If they could mash with the Duolingo style then maybe. It’s better to start with duolingo and master that then use Rosetta Stone to make more sense if the language. I got tired of needing to know what words and phrases really meant by having to go to google because Rosetta Stone does not have a translation feature. Was disappointed in Rosetta Stone as a beginner but maybe it’s just my learning style.. I like to know things 100% and my mind does not like possible differences which it looks for if things are not 100%. I seek complete clarity and I don’t get that from Rosetta Stone... yet

It is a s***** app.

This app is super good and it teaches a lot of languages. But it costs way too much just to get all the lessons. Also for a 12 month there is a free trial but you still have to pay about $147 even though its a free trial. I love how the app teaches a lot of languages. I just wish the prices were lower. Another thing is that when you speak in the microphone even if I speak clearly ir says I didnt say it right. Please fix these issues or just lower the prices.

Not happy with the overall experience, Or getting billed twice over a year after the purchase. Eventually I got some money back from iTunes but Rosetta Stone was quick to say that it wasn’t a problem on their end for billing me twice. I recommend going somewhere else with your money.

Marvelous method. Love it. Quite painless. Sharpens thought processes. Just as children learn. I’d love to see how long I can stick to it to the exclusion of everything else. I think I’ll purchase it and push myself to the limits. The entire concept and manner in which Rosetta utilizes is very inspirational. I’ll arrange my time in order to inundate myself in the program. That being said I’d love to know how far Rosetta goes into Spanish. And how many hours of devotion it would take to understand Spanish television. And where is the table of contents. Is there a final lesson? If I want to inundate myself and I have the time to do so ... then what would be the optimum manner and amount of time to spend? I would appreciate any suggestions. It’s the golden standard for a reason.

In my case, forgetting English altogether and learning to directly associate without actually trying to mentally translate Russian words to English thoughts works best. It just comes to me without even thinking about it now... I cannot stress this enough - I’m not learning Russian words for English thoughts, I’m learning to think about the world around me in Russian, and I’m finding the word associations I’m building from scratch are just coming naturally.

I am 11 years old and I want to learn how to speak Spanish Italian and Chinese I could not find A learning app to teach me but when I got to the App Store I found Rosetta stone it helped me a lot I am on the fourth lesson and I feel like I have learned so much from using this app it helped me learn more about Spanish Chinese and Italian I bet you would like this app to there is no ads and nothing can stop you from keep on learning every day I’ve been using this app for a week now and nothing bad has calmed up to this app I am so happy I found this app there is two more of Rosetta Stone and I will be happy to try them my mom has said this has helped me a lot and I feel like if people want to learn how to speak a different language this is the app for them I hope you get the Rosetta Stone app now after hearing this and there’s nothing bad about this so your parents or you yourself should not have any troubles with the app I hope you like your new Rosetta Stone have fun Learning new languages!!!!🇨🇳🇫🇷🇵🇹

Careful when selecting a subscription. I tried to select the one year option that states 9.98 a month but it will bill you for the whole entirety of one year. The app has NO way of changing it to the lifetime option of 199 after you have made your purchase and if you try to manage subscriptions it only gives you one option (the one you purchased instead of the 3/6/12 month options. They do this intentionally to get you to pay in full although on the subscription page doesn't say it will bill you in full. I will be disputing this on my card if they do not refund within 5 days and will find another software to purchase instead.

i am really impressed at how immersive the learning program is! it’s not teaching in the form of translation like most classes, but instead you learn to speak with connecting images to words so you actually think in the language you’re trying to learn.

It is very fun and is especially easy to learn but it cost a little to much and you only get it for two years. Ps. I hope this App helps others to learn other languages. Thank you!

Rosetta Stone is a fantastic program. It works on the ability to naturally learn a language through pictures, pronunciation and writing rather than just the normal word and translation. I highly recommend. They also have payment plans.

Been using this a few hours. Liking it a lot but the app is buggy. Things are out of order which causes me to choose wrong answers and sometimes it glitches and the audio doesn’t play. Also says I’m skipping ahead to other lessons when I’m not. Would be 5 stars if the app worked better.

A great app to learn and speak Spanish. My only quibble is that the app introduces new words at random, without initially introducing the meaning of the word. It would be nice if they would have a Spanish dictionary to look up meanings of certain words, to accompany the lessons. Otherwise a good addition, along with other apps and books to learn the Spanish language.

I’m learning a lot more on here than I ever did in school. At a faster peace too. It’s captivating, keeping me engaged. Finally learning the Spanish my parents never taught me, and going for Russian next. Woohoo! Thanks Rosetta Stone.

I wanted to learn French since my family knew French and I was the only one who didn’t. However, I had no idea how to learn it! Then I come across the ad and I think “this looks like fun!” And I got it. I started one night and immediately started learning more and more! I was drawn to my phone and I couldn’t stop. My mom was also congratulating me and saying “Good Job!” I truly love this app and I’m sure I’ll use it in my free time everyday.

So I downloaded this app a little over a year ago and I paid over $300 to access all of the lessons for Spanish. This fee of course was not time sensitive to be clear. Now, after I’ve spent that money and had access to all the lessons, the program has been updated and the app is once again forcing me to spend money to have access to the same lessons I already paid for. This completely ridiculous for the amount of money this company charges and there should be some exception for the people who already paid plenty of cash to use the app. There is of course an option to restore purchased content which does nothing.

I have been using Rosetta Stone for several years. I first used it to begin studying Japanese and it gave me a strong foundation for advanced courses I took later. I have also used it to for Korean which was very helpful for practice and review after taking an introductory Korean course. I am currently using it to learn Spanish while I am residing in Mexico. I have used it everyday since coming here and can literally apply what I learned on the app immediately after stepping out of my doorway. I have always recommended his program to others and will continue to for as long as I shall live! I am truly thankful for the opportunities and connections I have been able to make thanks to Rosetta Stone and am excited to use it for years to come.

Love the app it is easy to use, and each lesson is relatively short.

The first lesson is free and makes it seem like such a good app but then you have to pay for anything else you do where you could just get Duolingo and do it for free!

After completing a couple lessons, it recommends scheduling a live tutoring session while on a computer. The iPhone app doesn’t seem to have this feature.

The content is pretty good though I’d be fully in the weeds if I weren’t also using Anki flashcards and various dictionaries and other learning media due to this app’s lack of “lecture” exercises. The app itself (while much improved over the last year!!) suffers from some moderate jank. Occasionally random exercises will take over a minute to load (despite already being saved for offline use). Many words in Farsi wind up getting cut off, likely due to it being right-to-left (typesetting is hard!), and occasionally it will lose that I’ve completed some exercises. Stability issues aside, I’m a big fan!

I love that I can take my language learning on the go with the app, especially since you can download the lessons. The interface is great and I really like that you can tailor the lessons to your preferences. Update: I really appreciate that they chopped the longer lessons into shorter pieces. I don’t always have time for a 30 minute lesson, but I can usually find 10 minutes in my day.

I have been learning Italian with this app, and it’s helped me a lot. However, I find myself having to look up a lot of the words on google translate because I don’t know what they mean. Like, I had to look up “Lui dorme” because it didn’t tell me that it meant “he sleeps.” It just showed me a picture of a guy sleeping. For all I knew, it meant “he lays on a bed” or “his eyes are closed”. Other than that, it’s amazing! Ciao!

Has different languages and great for kids

Enjoy program, but microphone slow to pick up my voice in some areas and breaks up in others. In some grammar sections, it shows the voice bars but there is no audible voice. So I stick to areas that don’t require microphone use and only use these on pc. Needs some work

I often get down graded on my pronunciation. To myself, I sound fine, but the app doesn’t think so.

This is definitely the best program I have used to learn a different language. The only downside is it is occasionally glitchy which causes me to have to restart it on occasion. It also does not sync very well between my iPad and my iPhone, so when I take a lesson using one device, the other doesn’t know about it

It’s so easy to learn languages

Learning with Rosetta Stone is truly fun. I never thought I would say picking up a second language would be enjoyable, but it is! It’s straight to the point and is at a speed that is perfect for avoiding discouragement. I just wish they would say what the word is in our primary language as well. I’m only on lesson 1.6 so maybe the app does do that in later lessons. So far, awesome app. Worth the $!

There isn't an option to have pinyin and traditional characters on the screen at the same time like on the computer version. There's no way to make the characters bigger either. I have vision problems so this is a big deal for me. And the speech recognition is terrible. All I did was breath into the mic and it thought I said the correct word, I love the computer version but obviously this app still needs a lot of work.

As soon as the three days are up, you will be charged over $100 for a full 12 month subscription. I never wanted this!! Obviously I meant to cancel, as even if I did want to continue learning with Rosetta Stone, I would have chosen a 3 month or 6 month option instead. And now, because I simply forgot to hit the cancel subscription button, I am $100 down the hole, as there is NO WAY to get my money back because their “30 day money back guarantee” only pertains to software purchases directly from their website. Honestly, don’t waste your time. I’m never using Rosetta Stone ever again >:( Very displeased.

This app has some good reviews but from my experience using it, it’s disgusting. The voice recognition fails to comprehend what I am trying to say and pictures are not always correct. I just want somebody to fix the recognition and have more exact pictures and I as a consumer will appreciate it.

The app is ok I am trying to learn French but the pictures are not always helpful it would be better if there was and English translation therefore I would know what every word I’m saying means and it would help me learn better and faster because now I don’t know what half of the words I’m saying mean and it is making it difficult for me to learn.

Super padre y práctico

Contacted the support team on a multitude of different occasions, mostly regarding similar bugs over the past 6 months that interfere with using the app. They proceeded to finally patch the bug in one version but then just reintroduced it in the next. I provided pictures, and detailed explanations and they did not offer an apology for the inconvenience nor seem really that interested in bettering their buggy product. Save your money and download a free language learning app if they have the language you’re looking to learn. If they don’t look for any other option but this app as this is the worst app experience I have ever had.

My French accent is very good and I am level two. The dictation system can’t even hear the most basic word, for example when I said, “non.” That is a very simple word to pronounce and it didn’t pick it up. That same thing happened numerous times during the sections where I have to repeat words, and as I said. In addition, the system frequently skips over answers. It will read something and then it won’t allow me to speak it when I am supposed to. It just goes to the next item. Finally it frequently gets stuck. This app is really buggy and not worth $100. Also, it won’t allow me to send feedback on the section that says provide feedback/report a problem. It says the email address is invalid. This app really needs some work. It’s very frustrating and not worth all that money.

It started out great. 6 minutes in and it cant hear me repeating words. No matter how loud or clearly I speak. It did at first then nothing. Really would’ve loved this app if it worked

It’s not “speak in a week” paced, but that’s because it’s in depth to really keep you speaking and become fluent. It’s easy to use and visually stimulating. It makes it hard to put down my iPad and do my responsibilities.

He just started but he is really have fun pronouncing French words!

Started off good. Not liking the harassing pressured $150 now! Sale technique though. And then it wouldn’t recognize some of my syllable pronunciations, but then give total green for the whole pronunciation of same two syllable word. Like it was just messin with me. Frustrating and very disappointing. So wanted to use this app. Looked forward to it. Had to delete it. Very disappointed. I just read thru many reviews and took another star off for what looks like 5 Star seeding. Bogus.

A good amount of their program and having you read words back to the app, more often then not the app doesn't hear you and you just get stuck at random words for long stretches of time.

The fact that it teaches you through pictures truly does allow you to learn the language as yo did your native language. Without any comparison to your native language it allows you to fully focus on the knew language you’re learning, fully experience it and the imagery allows the language to be imprinted in your subconscious mind having a huge impact on your ability to remember what you’ve learned. Take a vacation from your native language and learn to be fluent in another. With Rosetta Stone 👍🏾

I learned many words but am still struggling to understand on what they mean in English since you only learn how to speak it and semi understand the language your learning.

Wish they had more English translations to go with the Spanish words

There’s no context as in: verbs, feminine/masculine types of words, no explanation on why words are different and used in different scenarios. No writing sections. timed too fast for speaking and can’t go back a slide to practice. Hardly any pronunciation sections if at all. There are a lot of better options ie books with lessons/quizzes and nothing beats having an actual human teacher vs Rosetta Stone. Rosetta Stone on the app is not refined enough and left me more confused about the language. Definitely not worth the subscription price that they’re asking for, you’re better off downloading free Spanish games.

It is a good app to learn, but the platform is not so good, any time I stop using this for a few days it gets stuck showing a message (platform error #0) I don’t know what that means but I have to delete an reinstall the app and start session again (that is annoying) so the developers must to fix that “error”

I love Rosetta Stone as a supplement to the French classes that I take. But the app is troublesome. I have to delete and redownload it EVERY TIME I want to use it. Sometimes multiple times a day because it won’t open. That’s annoying.

I just got started. I used to use the original Japanese course from years back that I bought, but got stuck halfway through and never asked for help. I like this one online but the hiragana are too small in some examples on my iPhone SE, so it is hard to read and get the lesson right. They should all be consistently large. How do I load this onto my PC? I would assume I have to get a hold of the ad and log into my account. Would you send it to me please?

Didn’t think this was going to work for me I sometimes having a hard time to remember but the pictures and the words being viewable makes it so much easier to learn.

Thanks for making it so much more interesting to learn about all the languages. French is a good fit for me and I will need some help getting to learn it.

I wouldn't recommend this app, it's to laggy and it takes forever to load. They really need to fix it. Also, when creating my account it kept loading and wouldn't stop, it kept loading for like 10- 20 minutes

Learning this way is like learning as a child. You see the picture, hear the word and it becomes associated. Unlike old traditional ways of learning the alphabet, then seeing a word in English then the word in the language you’re learning. I learned a complete basic German in 3 months. Had to learn it for trip there because of our parent company is from Germany. Thanks Rosetta Stone!

I was having issue with my login on my laptop and iPad. Started logging off after each session. As well, close the browser or tab pointing to Rosetta Stone. Apparently the token times out after a few hours. Now no issues. Otherwise, I love the app. Ich spricht ein bisschen Deutsch jetzt!

I think the app is great. Sometimes there are small glitches but nothing major. I often have to look up words while in middle of lesson, as the app quizzes you on things before they've introduced them, but it isn't that big of a problem. But overall it has been fun and challenging. I would recommend the app as an easy way to learn basics of a new language.

I love the way Rosetta Stone teaches language with pictures, but I often find myself needing the assistance of Google translate or the internet. Their interface needs a redesign, with many pictures and words needing to be zoomed in on, especially on a small phone. In addition, the app is missing some online features, and glitches all the time, often needing a restart when being paused.

I deleted this app and every day I get 1,000 messages from Rosetta Stone giving me discounts after I DELETED this s***** app

It’s a good app but I’m just not paying I want to learn a new language for free.

I’m sure the program is fine, but the app is completely unusable. Tapping on things does nothing. For example, the “play” button does not, in fact, play the audio of that word, as could be reasonably expected. It doesn’t do anything, actually. None of the other buttons do anything either, and it keeps skipping me around on things. I’m a patient person, but this is ridiculous. I have to guess on half the questions and it won’t pick up my voice on the audio portions. Useless app. I’d stick with Duolingo, but it doesn’t have Arabic yet.

I love this app ALOT but does it have to be with cash I mean we are trying to learn something and you force us to pay to do what we want? Till now I have completed 1 lesson and no more so please of you have the chance to read this make it a free app or at least tell me why you need to make us pay because the app itself can give you ALOT of money and you need more?
