Yes it does show you your answer but if you want it to show you a different way it just gives you a definition of the type Of equation

Worthless app. Repeatedly says “I was temporarily busy, please try your problem again”

I’m lazy and don’t like homework but this app is so unreliable and it crashes all the time so I’m deleting it and wouldn’t recommend it. Tiger algebra all the way

Thank you for helping me understand this algebra stuffs. This is a wonderful program. I had algebra 30 years ago and now I’m taking classes to finish my degree and algebra is my requirement class for me to achieve my degree. I hate it this class with a passion because I don’t understand it. I can do adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with my eyes closed and now I have to solve and trying to understand composition of functions I have no clue. Algebra driving me NUTS!!!

It all looks and works well and the fact that once you take a picture of the problem and it asks how the equation is solved is awesome but the fact that I have to pay just to see the step by steps is stupid. I hope really hope this is not a permanent feature.

Expensive for the premium, my card was charged and it will not show steps, just says to upgrade then that I already have the premium! Works great till it takes your money and doesn’t do what it should. Would be 5 stars if I didn’t waste so much

So I’m a student and there was these online calculators that claimed they knew how to solve and simplify Radical numbers but they didn’t. I came across this website and it’s so amazing, you have helped me greatly and I’ve seen people say you need to pay to see the steps but I don’t care about that because I don’t need to. Thank you for this. One thing the camera doesn’t work to find problems but it’s Kay I have Photomath

I have had a couple issues with the program not giving me an answer but other than that I love it

$20 a month for a fancy calculator app.. no thank you. Math is a universal language and you’re charging an arm and a leg in the worst country that is way behind on math. get over urself & instead of robbing people try actually helping them. 🤬

I think this app is great if u just need the answer... but most of the time you need the equation part of it to, and sadly you can’t get that info unless u pay. Struggling students shouldn’t have to worry about paying and doing there homework. This upset me a lot. Definitely very helpful but part of the subscription are live tutors and seems to not have one available at night when I do most of my homework but it says they have live tutors 24/7. Thinking about canceling my subscription because of this...

This app is LIT. You should get it. This saved my life. It can even solve word problems. It can solve multiple choice questions. It’s like awesome. I promise. Just get it already. Get it. Get It. GET IT. This review was gonna be a lot awesomer but this kid in this group chat won’t shut up and he keeps on unconsentrationing me so yeah. This app is like magical by the way. Just get it. Like I promise you you won’t regret it. Now people are snapchating me. But this is like really fast and really good and stuff.

I think this app can help many kids in middle school and high school ,but you should get rid of the subscription since it doesn’t let the students know how to get the answer and learn form their mistakes.

I know it most likely did work, but I tried it out on my daughter’s basic math homework and nothing worked.

Free download, yay...that’s great. Now I have to pay to use it. Grrr.

For many simple math problems, the calculator app that comes included with the iPhone works much better (although it doesn’t graph, or handle complex numbers). For graphing and complex math, there are web sites that work better and are free. It also lacks a programmer’s calculator option (for base conversion between decimal, binary, and hexadecimal). As far as paying for explanations of solutions, it would make sense (if this service is really so great), to allow at least a short free trial period. I don’t recommend buying it sight unseen. I certainly won’t. Especially with the poor quality of what I CAN see without payment. The number of 5-star reviews strikes me as a bit fishy. Given that there are people who write positive reviews for a living, I suspect a lot of these (mostly one-sentence) reviews are paid.

All I can say

This is so helpful to CHECK your answers. My favorite part is the photo option. I’m struggling with some algebra that I haven’t studied in two years. I have Khan Academy teach me and use Mathway to check my answers. Works great! Would like to work out the problems for me so I make sure I’m doing that right but don’t want to pay the Premium. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Otherwise pretty good! Definitely check out Khan for lessons if you are super stuck!

Best math app ever, really helps a lot

I am in Calculus AP (college class in Highschool) and this makes homework a million times easier. Only 4 stars because it does not work with all my problems but most of them they do. The recognition software is incredible

I did the biggest mistake ever getting the one year subscription.. it seemed like a good deal to me and I just wanted to know proper steps on how they got an answer.. they skip multiple steps leaving me confused! Now I’m upset and I wish I can have my money back. Gives you answers but no proper steps.

This app should always give you the option to view steps as advertised. That’s why I bought this app in the first place!! After I paid for it it would always give me the option for a live tutor!! But not for view steps!!! So maaaad!!!

I use a hardware Bluetooth keyboard with my iPad for disability reasons (I cannot tap a virtual keyboard) keeping the iPad on landscape side position, and there is absolutely no way I can get this app to work on landscape mode, it is only portrait. It gets annoying having to go to mathway.com all the time. Frustrating...........

If this app wasn’t created honestly I don’t know how I would finish my homework 📚thank you

This is awesome app but the only issue is must connect to internet 👍

It is my fault but I did pay $80 for a year subscription. It had a good rating and with the price I thought it would really work. It freezes up on me I can’t even use it. If you’re in the wrong math type it won’t help you with other types of math say I’m in trigonometry section and I need help with something like algebra i have to constantly change sections rather them just redirecting me to where I need to go. I literally can’t use it bc it’s frozen now even though I completely closed the app and restarted it. There is no real big difference from the free version so don’t buy it. Yes it walks you through steps but kinda skips around so you don’t get a real big grasp on what you are doing. I suggest seeking help the old fashioned way before spending your money on this

At first I thought I had a fraudulent charge but the representative was able to find out that it was actually my teenager who signed up for a subscription without my knowledge. Thank you for saving me a headache! I did not have to cancel my card! Wonderful customer service

This app has helped me so much with precalculus. I use it pretty much to check my work.

This is the only way I can learn algebra. Having a way to check my self is just like having a tutor right here with me.

I love this app, it helps me when I’m stuck or to make sure my answer is correct while learning, but the downfall is that they charged me for my monthly subscription, then when I paid for it I shortly after cancelled and after that even though I paid the $19.99 for the month it instantly stopped letting me use it 2 days after I paid. So, I do not recommend the monthly payment option if not necessary.

I am dead a*s serious. I am absolutely terrible at algebra and if this app and the original website haven’t existed, my a*s would have thrown in the towel and dropped out. So I would like to send a sincere thank you to the developers of this app because lord knows I do not have the core strength to be a stripper.

The step by step solution doesn’t load at all

This app is helpful in someways. I upgraded to a premium account because I wanted to see how problems are solved. When I ask a substitution/ elimination problem, it solves it but then when I try to see how it was solved, it’s a white blank page. There are other problems/equations that gives the same blank space when I try to see how it was solved. I think there’s room for update and hopefully they fix this. If this continues I’ll cancel my subscription and look elsewhere.

When I try to type in a problem it lags or it goes slow. Then when I go to click enter or send, a suggestion appears on the bottom of the send symbol and I click that by accident. When I try to scan a problem it sometimes says that it can’t do this question or can’t scan it. Please make the scanning process more efficient and also the typing.

I use to love this app, but now that I have to pay to be shown how to do the problem is ridiculous.

This app saved my butt in two college algebra classes it was really worth purchasing so I saw step by step how to solve but I have yet to find one problem that it helps me solve with statistics and probability and that’s the whole reason I renewed. All it does is tell you how to do SOME things (which doesn’t help) but I have a text book for that. I’ll give you 10 stars if you fix statistics!

Great for adults! Us Parents always fear the day our kids start taking math classes that we can’t help them with anymore. With this app I just type in the problem and poof it gives me the answer and the steps to solve it, just in case you don’t want to give your kid the answer but if you want to help them with just a step you can view all the steps easily. Great app highly recommend!!

My algebra 2 teacher is, honestly, not the best at teaching us how work out the problems. He just puts the answer to the problem on the board and doesn’t work it out. Anyway, this app has taught me how to work out so many problems using the premium version. The only reason I gave this app 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the premium price; it’s a little bit high for my liking. However, this app has allowed me to pass my class with an A and an understanding of the topics covered in algebra 2. Would recommend to anyone who is struggling in any math class.

As a student who is really bad at math I find that Mathway helps me to make sure I get all of the problems correct I severely recommend this to anyone who has any trouble with math.

I love this app, it has helped me greatly, but it needs an option that if it gives you an answer but it gives you the wrong answer, i should be able to let them know that it’s wrong so they can correct it, for the future.

This thing is amazing it never fails me and has taught me and saved me many times on my math homework that I didn’t understand. After a particularly hard homework I as a joke thinking nothing would happen because it only reads numbers typed “thank you so much” and I RESPONDED with “your welcome”. I am so happy this app was made, I hope the creators are drowning in cash because anything less wouldn’t be fair. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I was only able to get one free step by step when I first tried it for free and then it kept on asking me to eight sign up or buy all the time. It was helpful to me when it came to studying. I could only get answers after that first try, bit it made me work harder to understand my math questions that did not have the same answer. Sometimes, the math answers if gave me were different to the ones that were provided to me, especially from a school book. I think if you'd do buy, then you might get more out of this app. Than those, like me, who just wanted or needed it for free help. It has its good and bad drawbacks.

At first I loved this app but I needed the steps so I purchased one month for $10 which I ended up cancelling the subscription altogether about a week later. But now my phone is sort of locked to where I cannot download or update apps because MATHWAY is trying to charge me $42. And that is not right at all and I refuse to pay it. When I spoke to apple they told me I have to pay and then ask for a refund. And I find that very stupid. Where did $42 even come from when I only purchased a month

If it weren’t for this app my grade probably would have dropped so low that I would be forcefully removed from the education system as a whole and swayed into sex work or fast food service. The 9.99 a month is a steep price tag for the steps and tutoring but it’s worth it seeing as I left algebra 3 honors with a 92 and now I can help my little sister with her algebra 1, when I would have been as useful as a doctor’s visit for the stomach flu without the app.

Mathway is the worst Math site. My grandma can teach better and she is 87 years old

I’ve been sitting here for 20 minutes trying to do one problem. I’ve tried using the camera 8 times and every time it says it couldn’t identify the problem. Then when I try to use the keyboard, it is so slow and I couldn’t type the word “cost” because it would put in “cos t”. I gave it 1 star because none of it is working for me but I can see how this could be really helpful. I don’t know if it’s just me but until it works, it gets 1 star.

Honestly it’s really accurate but needs to work on word problems not just plain equations

this app is so useful when it comes to algebra 1 and 2 functions. it provides much more specific answers than other calculators such as photomath. you can input exactly what type of answer you’re looking for, such as a graph, the domain/range, or the asymptotes. mathway really has saved me the night before a test many times, so i felt the app deserved a heartfelt review.

Calculator has an up carrot to key in an exponent, but no way to return back to add an + or a - or x or / sign. Just stays in exponent field and can only continue to add exponents to the exponents. No explanations or link to how to use calculator or glossary of terms. Just a pop-up advertisement to immediately subscribe for $20 per month. Wow. We were testing out app for simple factoring problems, but continually got stuck in the exponent field. No HELP menu offered.

Helps with my homework

Yeah, yeah. The app is cool to solve the problem for you in different ways cos that’s math. But what grinds my gears is I can’t access step-by-step on the free version w/o having to pay a premium. The app should at least have the basic step-by-step process for free, and more in depth steps (things probably concerning theory and etc) for premium. I get it, gotta get ur coin from such a useful tool, but at least make it fair. Because although many of us agonize over the correct answer(s) to the problem, there is just as plenty that stress over the steps and procedures on HOW to derive the answer. Math is visual w/ a sequence of steps. PROOF. How am I suppose to know how A = B w/o PROOF or steps to follow. That way, I’ll know what to do next problem I move onto, thereby feeling more confident in my ability. Maybe this be a different story if the semester wasn’t two weeks away from ending. However, everything before this unit I’m on (Analytic trig) was relatively easy, so the app wouldn’t have been useful to me. Ergo, there should be a basic layer of step-by-step sequences for free for the random unit or chapter that blocks us.

I never write reviews, but I just had to for this app. The problem I had with Photomath, was even though it showed the steps, many questions it could do because some equations have different ways of solving, but mathway allows be to chose to solve for x, y and just ab anything else! Changed my freshmen year. Thanks Mathway!

Once (and only if) you’re familiar with the relevant math concepts, this app is a great timesaver.

Gave me some of the answers after a while it just showed “no math found” 🤷‍♀️like for graph it won’t show the answers I wanted to check my work and this app isn’t much help

Really struggling on homework this helped me out much better than Photomath

It is so helpful, way better than other apps that I use. I just wish they would have a scanner like photo math instead of having to take a picture and cropping it. But Mathway is still so much better. Always has a solution to my math problems.

Mathway has helped me so much! It also lets you take pictures of a problem so you don’t have to type it in. I love that because all of the other apps give you limited pictures to take. Also I really love that when you type in a problem mathway asks which way you want to solve it! Thanks for the help!

Initially had this app to help me get through algebra worked out very well as for pre calculus, my issue arose when i started trigonometry it really fails completely in this area.

Can you please update this app to have more college algebra, calculus, and especially trigonometry stuff. This app works really well if you have algebra, algebra 2, and, geometry problems. But if you have a higher level high school or even college class like trig or calculus, it won’t have everything you will learn in that class. And sometimes it’s so frustrating that when I have no idea how to an assignment that’s due the next day and the only really good math app out there doesn’t have it at all. So to the developers please please please update this app to have many more things with trigonometry and calculus.

I recently upgraded because I wanted to see the step by step explanation.. this app does not give step by step explanation. It’s basically like this: STEP ONE: Do this. STEP TWO: Do that. So on and so forth... No explanation whatsoever. Just expects you to know what to do

You don't have to sign in and put an email or put a password you download the app and you use it it's easy to use and very simple, And if you do not have time to write down the problem you can take a picture which is a easy simple step. Choose the type of math and type in the problem, it prompts you for what you’re asking and shows you how it got to the answer. Extremely helpful.

This app may be good to check answers but if you want to see how to do a problem you have to pay monthly. That’s so retarted people just want to understand their why would you make someone pay to try and get through school

Sent to 2 help requests and 2 days later I received an answer to them that I just needed to delete the app and re download. I told them I had already done that and sent another request. That was 3 days ago, still no help. I’m trying to put this app on both my iPads and it won’t let me put it on the second one. I quit mathpapa app because this one is better but if I can’t get any support when needed I will not keep it. I use Facebook to sign in to the 2 Nd app and yes my Facebook and iTunes email are the same I only have one email address for everything. I have tried deleting the app and re downloading it, even made sure the show work button was on before redoing the subscription. Will work but when I need to see the steps on a problem it just shows a blank page. I have 2 more years of math I need this app for and want to keep it, but if I cannot get this resolved I will have to try to find another one.

I think that by being a free app is great, so if you see you can take picture of the problem you want “Mathway” resolve, so the camera can detect the patrons of the expressions and it likely fast to make the problems, I think that is perfect as it is!

Very glitchy & continually times out, at this point it won’t even open & to make matters worse I paid to have the step by step instructions to solving the problems & now I can’t even use it.

I actually paid for the yearly app AND the tutors, I completely subscribed! Only to be criticized by my tutor!!! No joke, I have the screen shots and everything!! The paid tutors will insult you, then just answer your questions and end the chat session with you! I’m going to really pursue this one!

Bro, I’ve had breakdowns over not being able to complete online homework and then getting a bad grade on it, thanks to MATHWAY all my hw is complete and I’m in college man, they give the correct answer almost every time and if you want to show work they explain it too, pretty cool app.

First off this is an awesome app.. Hands down 5 stars. My problem is I have no idea how to unsubscribe now that I don’t need it. I’ve called for help but couldn’t find the information that was needed to cancel. My billing says google on it and I can’t find it in the google play or iTunes or any of my emails... on the app it says that “step-by-step” is on and “tutoring” is off. Please help.

I’m am math major and use this app to check work when I’m unsure. I’m almost done and have had problems the entire way through. When I first started this app was awesome it could any simple math up to calculus with no problems. Things like basic integrals were no problem for this app but once you start to do more difficult or complex integral the app responds with I’m unsure how to solve this problem. Sometimes I want to solve a polar equation let’s say and it won’t give me the option. It will graph it but if I use the variable r first it shuts down. I have to turn it into a rectangular equation then type that in which to me defeats the purpose of the app. A ton of my upper division math classes are kinda hard so I sometimes need an app like this to check work when I’m lost and have depended on this app for so long but recently it has let me down and I will most likely delete it. So I ended up deleting this app because I was tired of it not being able to solve anything. It can’t solve pretty basic limits like lim x!/x^n it just tells me that it’s unsolvable even though I could do something like this in my head. If you are not serious about math then this is a great app if you then don’t bother.

Thank you for solving some of life’s little problems, for me this quarter it’s Algebra. It’s not JUST the answer I need, I really need to KNOW HOW the problem is solved. I’ve had a few equations that Mathway was unable to solve but the other Math apps couldn’t either, but the reverse is even better when other Apps can’t give me an answer 99% of the time Mathway CAN. I signed up for the year and it’s worth it!

Now I don’t have to struggle so much with college
