Reviewed on 9/9/19 2:10 PMI like the concept of this app, but it’s essentially useless to me because the repo I cloned is never being updated. Since the first clone, none of the updates I have pushed from other devices have loaded to this app. I have tried reopening the app and nothing. Edit: thanks for the response! It works now... was having trouble finding what I needed in the usage docs

Reviewed on 9/9/19 2:10 PMYou need to use it with a external keyboard to get the full benefit. It’s a clean / good looking editor. It makes for a great coding tool. I was able to directly connect to my dev Digital Ocean server and modify the files directly. Support was excellent and prompt to answer any of my questions.

Reviewed on 9/9/19 2:10 PMUsually I use termius and ssh into a server with vim installed and just edit files that way. This is less than ideal on an iPad Pro with the Smart Keyboard since there is no escape keyboard. Also there are latency issues with using vim over ssh, especially while traveling. This editor is great in helping with those times, but the vim mode is still missing quite a bit of things: * ctrl + { should jump up the file in between code blocks. * ctrl + } should jump down the file in between code blocks. * ctrl + v visual vertical select * escape is not a toggle. You should remain in command mode from repeatedly press escape. * B, W don't work There is also features I miss from vim plugins themselves: * Fuzzy search for files. * Horizontal and vertical splits. * Tabs * File tree view in editor Thanks to the developer for the initial work! I hope we continue to see more development so this can a full time editor for me.

Reviewed on 9/9/19 2:10 PMThis morning I typed for 30 minutes into a local file. I closed my iPad Pro and went home. Ten minutes later (without doing anything in between), I opened it up again and was back at the iPad homescreen. Reopened Buffer, and nearly everything was gone. I have no choice but to delete this app and find something new, and could not recommend it to anyone.

Reviewed on 9/9/19 2:10 PMCould you maybe add the ability to save to iCloud Drive in a specific folder? Pages, Keynote, Numbers, GarageBand, a MATLAB app called SIMO , and many more do this, and it’s incredibly convenient.

Reviewed on 9/9/19 2:10 PMApps great it just goes nuts every once and awhile when I make a java class. Example: public class Person { //CODE IN HERE } Because I moved the top bracket down it stops auto indenting. It won’t allow me to indent it myself either. It’ll just push the cursor way passed the brackets all together.

Reviewed on 9/9/19 2:10 PMI have been looking for a code editor for the iPad for some time. There are lots of text editors, Markdown editors, etc. but I wanted something that would do code highlighting, etc. I searched around the web and found several suggestions and bought them all (iOS apps are so inexpensive, that’s easy to do). But what made me start using Buffer was that I kept seeing updates come through the App Store. This isn’t an app that’s been released and abandoned by the developer, it is regularly updated all the time. When I had a question about how to use it, I sent an email and received a prompt reply, even offering more help than I needed. I now have Buffer set up with Working Copy, and it works great! I don’t write many app reviews (not nearly as many as I should) but I definitely wanted to thank this developer for being on-top of things. It saddens me to see several low-star reviews, even after the developer has responded, and often fixed the issue. Maybe people don’t know they can (and should!) update their reviews when things change!

Reviewed on 9/9/19 2:10 PMThis is the best iOS code editor for the web for right now. It is better than Textastic and better than Coda. However, that isn’t really saying much... Most web app developers use Sublime Text 3 or VS Code on their desktop machines. Buffer is just a lightweight when you compare it to those editors. It just doesn’t have the feature set or the fast built-ins that those editors offer. To the developer: Beef up this effort. You can truly own the iOS space if you can match the quality and feature set of your desktop rivals. If you don’t... well, someone will beat you to it and you’ll lose all long term users. ** Edit ** Actually, upon further inspection, this app has no support for Working Copy, so, it is lagging behind Textastic.
