Calc Xls Spreadsheet App Reviews

I can't even figure how start spread sheet. Most paid for app and haven't been able to use. Just not user friendly at all.

I am sure this app works great, but it's seriously confusing trying up figure it out. Not user friendly. Needs an engineering degree to figure out.

Is it possible to have conditional formatting for selected cells?

I have been needing a spreadsheet on my iPad. Once you figure out that the icons on the menu bar are the same as "file" "edit" "options""view" and "format" you can find everything you need. I like the splits and freezes under the eyeball (view) on the menu bar and the formatting under the A on the menu bar. It is almost easier to set up a spreadsheet on the iPad than a computer once you get the hang of it. I use functions a lot and this has given me all I need.

Worked fine before iOS 7. Now can't scroll large spreadsheet. What kind of responsible developer does not test under new OS. Fix this and I will go back to my previous 5* rating.

After loading IOS, all row and column references are gone. References to a cell still work, if you can figure out where it is.

Spreadsheets moved to a subdirectory

Calc XLS is now my go to spreadsheet app. I have so many apps from mariner on my laptop and for iOS, and for the most part I have had great experiences with everything Mariner flavored (oceany maybe?). Calc XLS is their shining star in my opinion, Macjournal is a close second for me though. Thanks for the broad support base. I'm still using my iPad 2 iOS 5.1.1 offline most of the time because it's not safe, but on my local network I'm not too worried. Calc XLS works great in iOS 7 on my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 also. It's good to see a few developers out there who are looking past the latest version of iOS. Image if every developer dropped support for previous desktop OS with every update. If windows 8 was released and all developers just stopped supporting windows 7,.. I feel like some kind of tron 2 meme goes here. There would be riots in the streets, why is it ok for iOS? Shutters. /end rant Anyway this app has come a long way. I deleted Office2 HD and QuickOffice after the latest Calc XLS update was released. I say if you need a serious spreadsheet app and don't want to pay for a subscription fee, or use a dead app acquired by some massive company only to smother the app with lack of updates (quickoffice and office2 cough), look no further.

Half a decade after xlsx became the standard excel format and they still don't open them? Pretty limited usefulness right there.

I work for ADT security systems and I use a lot of spreadsheets for my Inventory, payroll, timecard, etc..... This is a great app for retaining the xls format of excel. I would like a "save as" feature as well as being able to see what you are typing in a cell as you are typing it, currently you can only see it after you move to another. Thank you for the great app.

Everytime I try to save or send the file it gives an error=1 Don't know what it means, but it's making my $2.99 wastes. I want to ask for assistance but there's no email address that I can use to ask for help. Otherwise I want my money back.

I am a pro Excel spreadsheet user and I was so delighted to find an iPad version of a spreadsheet that I could use. So many of the basic functions are supported here, and it is fairly quick to intuitively learn and begin to use well. I'm pleased with this purchase.

This thing is worse than annoying or frustrating- it's dangerous. It updated without prompting with iOS7, replacing the clunky but familiar Calc Lite. It cannot find my old spreadsheets now, and I NEEDED them. Meanwhile, the "new, improved " version doesn't work- just try saving something with a different name, or re-naming, or scrolling, or- well, you get the picture.

This is a great app but only supports Dropbox. I hope in the future they add Google Drive, SkyDrive and SugarSync or even iCloud support. The app is great looking and has all the needed features to get work done. It's not Excel but it still allows you to work on Excel spreadsheets. Just needs more Cloud support.

I have a five year old Mac desktop with Excel. When I import to the iPad a spreadsheet created on the Mac, it won't even open it let alone edit. I tried creating a file on the iPad and downloading it to the Mac. I could edit it on the Mac but when I brought it back to the iPad, it still wouldn't open.

I'm new to spreadsheets but I'm quickly learning & this app seems solid & very easy to use.

Wastge of money - does not recognize formatting and protection of Excel documents.

When an update was released the program had to be repurchased to complete the update.

Since update the app does not work the same - major scrolling issues (you can no longer input functions as you can not scroll down once inputting data - major problem!!) Can we please get an update on app to correct this?!?!? (& quickly please, I use this for my budget, I loved app enough to buy full version but now it does not work correctly)

Paid version of this app does not attach xls file to email, when choosing email xls file option. "Error number = 1" message shows up every single time when opening the app.

Please fix the scrolling issue already! My entire budget for my household is managed on this app...please fix!

This app has worked great for me. I have been using it for a couple of years. It would be cool if I could password protect the viewing of a workbook so I had a secure place to keep passwords

I have to give this one star, sadly, as the app looked promising. But, after connecting it to my Dropbox account, it was not able to find my Excel file to open it. I even saved it in two different formats, to no avail. I even mailed the file to myself and tried to open the attachment, but this app was not even a choice to use to open my file. Without being able to import my file, I'm unable to use this app as intended.

Finally, a spreadsheet program for the iPhone that works! It can actually subtract one time from another and give you the duration. Of the seven or eight other spreadsheet programs for the iPhone I've tried, this is the only one able to do that. It has excellent tab support. It is able to search multiple tabs of a workbook for values. It is able to load Excel spreadsheets created on a PC and allow you to edit and save them. So far it's been able to do every task I have given it to do. The interface is straightforward with the features and functions readily identifiable.

Fixed Row/Column. Now crashes with every correction in a cell with existing data. Please Fix!!!! Last update, iOS 10, row/column numbers, letters no longer display correctly!! Needs to be fixed!!

Lots of new features - very well done

I'm giving two stars for finally doing an update. However it still did not correct the scrolling issue. At least I was finally able to rename my worksheets. More work to do guys.

Can't scroll large sheets on iPad since iOS7 update. Used to be able to drag the sheet around, now nothing works to scroll. Dropbox sync hasn't worked in a long time. Highlighted cells arbitrarily won't highlight. You can still edit the highlighted cell, it's just difficult to tell which cell is selected. Must use the row/col index since the selected cell does not outline. It goes out for a couple days then comes back for a couple. Really weird. App is slowly becoming unusable.

Now works with ios7. Great app.

When entering information to a cell the app kicks me out when I hit return. Had this app for years with no concerns not it is "Screwier than a wooden watch"!

This app locks up constantly. Every time I try to save a spreadsheet it locks up. Every time I do a cut and past I have to fix the column and rows. Very frustrating!

Unfortunately, I no longer trust this app anymore. I have caught it deleting entire rows when e-mailing spreadsheets, or opening them up in other apps. I believe the data keeps, as long as you're within this app, but try to transfer it and it fails to do so faithfully. Disappointed.

It takes a while to get used to it but the MAIN issue is...the formulas don't work. I copied straight from an Excel work sheet and this app looks at it and scratches its head.... I m not an Excel pro by any means so if I'm smarter that the app you have a problem. But I guess the tricks on me because I bought it so I guess you guys can call it a success.

Good spreadsheet. Simple but effective.

I updated to 4.3 while still running 9.3.5. When I enter a letter into a previously entered cell and hit return the screen goes black, the program closes, and all unsaved info is lost. If the cell is empty and I add info, hit return, all is fine. This didn't happen until I updated.

Worked great until it stopped with new OS. Very frustrating!!!

Only reason i choose this app over other is because they said it converts excel files. Wrong. ive tried everythin possible and i still cannot transfer files from my laptop to ipad. Get a different app

I have been using this app for years to run spreadsheets for calculating/bidding jobs. You can design the spreadsheet however you want and it will crunch the numbers for you. I chose it because it worked better than any other options I could find. I just got a notice from my iphone that this version will no longer be supported with the next ios. Hoping the developers will update. Also if you are listening, developers, please include a file search option with updated version!! The app works so well that i now have hundreds of files for it and its getting hard to manually search through them all.

Just bought the app and then realized itvwill not edit .xlsx docs only native .xls docs. It does not say it in description. Ugh very disappointed about this.

I've retired my iPaq that I used mainly with a simple spreadsheet for a shopping list - I could sort it for choosing items I need at home, resort it for just the things I need in aisle order at the store. I does that fine. It would be nice if cursor keys would scroll the spreadsheet instead of moving the selected cell off screen.

Had a hard time at first. A lot of my basic settings (I.e. # of decimal places) were unknowingly reset causing a lot of zero values. Spent some time sitting in a waiting room & was able to figure things out. More time I spend with it the more potential I find. Now we are able to do a lot more structural calcs in the field. Only real dislike for now; when I click on a cell to change a value, I have to manually delete what's in it before entering new. As compared to just clicking & entering the new data. It adds a lot of key strokes. Ask me again in a month.

4.3.12 update dumped ALL of my formulas! I depend on this app for my family's daily budget needs, and this latest update has made it completely useless. REF errors on formulas and crashes anytime I attempt to fix them. Same issue on my ipad & phone.

I have been looking for this great I-pad software. It is so powerful, very flexible like Microsoft excel. Anyone who are looking for heavy excel function in iPad, this is your choice. You will never be disappointed. Thank you for developing this one. It is really great ^^

I am able to keep my budget on track with this very useful, and easy to use app.

I've taken a leap and decided to do as close to if not all of my financial activity on my iPhone. This app in particular along with a check register app have made it possible for me to do so. I am more than satisfied with this app. It's easy to use, easy to understand and, at least for me, has become an essential component of how I manage and document my financials. I highly recommend it. Get it even if you don't think you'll use it. Once you experiment with it, you'll find a good use for it. You'll be glad you have it.

Product worked as described. I'm making good use of it for sales logs on the go.

The look and the way it work is great, and easy to operate. I do pick this on over Doc To Go and Quick Office.

Never should have updated my app! Trying to figure how to make a column default to money ($ and decimal) and another column default to dates and how I want my dates displayed. I must be missing something! The app use to be self explanatory. Not good!

Love the copy and paste update. Can you put a recently opened list on the file menu? What used to take two clicks to open a file now takes four. Thanks again!
