The app doesn’t work ... I singed up for the free trial and it still won’t let me read and comics. Do not install this garbage app

I love being able to read all the comics I want, but the app is constantly glitchy and it’s even worse when you try and take the comics offline.

I just downloaded this app because I was tired of buying comics and them taking up room. This app is great especially when you want to start reading a comic series that has already started.

When I first got the app it had a section of comics that were free to read without the subscriptions.The I got the subscription and when I cancelled my subscription it was no longer their.It was really a b***** because it was really nice not to have to pay to read comics.I don’t know if this was just a glitch on my phone or if Marvel changed it please read and fix this issue

Update 9/1/18: they added a read icon that always shows issues you previously read, huge improvement there. It still needs a way to follow/save a shortcut to your next unread issue from an “event” or character or series. Also sometimes when you finish reading an issue from an event it has a link back to the event reading order. However sometimes it only has the next issues in that series. It would be nice if when you are reading an event, at the end of an issue you could easily go to the next in the reading order (even when it is from a different series.)

The offline reading situation was fixed with the last update but I wish they would fix the two other persistent problems with the app. It still occasionally resets all of the comics in your library and comics you have downloaded for offline reading to zero and you are unable to access them for several minutes. The other issue is is waiting for pages to load on comics that have been downloaded for offline reading. I don’t fully understand why I have to wait for pages to load on a comic that has already been downloaded to my device to be read offline. I have noticed that if I am in an area with a very weak signal, the pages will still never load and I am unable to read anything. I never had this issue until one of the recent updates and it has never been fixed.

This is a 5 star idea to make an app with thousands of old comics available for just $10 a month but the realisation is very poor. First of all, you cannot read these comics live, because for some reason pages download pathetically slow, so you have to download each issue to "read offline" (which surprisingly does not take much time at all) and to read it then. The covers in your library do not save and it seems like the app is downloading them every time you open it. The sorting order of the library does not save either and you have to change it every time. Finally, not all comics open: I have problems with some of the first issues, e.g. Darth Vader #1 or ObiVan and Anakin #1 - they just don't work. If Marvel fixes these issues I will gladly rate it 5 stars. Edit: after months of using the app I have to downgrade it even further. Unfortunately Marvel does nothing to address the poor performance; even downloaded comics that are supposed to work offline are now not working (some pages are missing regularly). Not sure what their strategy here but I'm close to cancel subscription and just download these comics from torrents.

Spend more time seeing the loading page than actual reading comics.

The app used to work fine. But after the most recent update, it takes forever to load a comic. It freezes when turn a page, or the app crashes. It just ruins the experience. The experience of the app itself is amazing when it works. I find this to be the most used app on my phone. I read it on the train and anywhere to k*** time. It has over 2,000 thousand comics and growing. I love how I’m able to read the comics I read growing up, as well as the ones I wasn’t even alive for. Great that you can download and read comics when offline. But please fix the amount of time it takes to load. It wasn’t an issue before.

This app would be amazing if it worked even 2 out of 10 times I try to read something... Unreal... I basically throw $10 in the garbage every month...

I don’t know why people are bashing this app I’ve had it over a year and it’s my most used app

Customer service is appalling. Failed to respond to all except one of my inquiries, and never solved that problem anyway.

Refer to the title. Love all the comics. But the app is constantly freezing over and over again and crashing on my iPad. Fix this!!!

The content is fantastic especially compared to the very limited comic selection on DC Universe. However the app is filled with more bugs than any app I have ever used. I am constantly having to delete it and reinstall it. It never works the way it’s supposed to. No matter how many updates for “bug fixes” there are it doesn’t help. This would be a 5* review if it worked like it was supposed to but I have given up hope that it ever will.

There are just simple things that need to work. This app is potentially a Panacea but needs to work ALL of the time...not 50% of the time. Currently my iPhone 8 hangs on loading once a comic is selected in both cellular and high speed WiFi settings. Don’t ask me if my app is plugged in or I will virtually give you the . Fix yo’ stuff.

Here’s the thing: I 100% recommend the subscription. Collecting comics gets to be pretty expensive, and while it’s definitely not the same as reading a physical comic book you get all the fantastic stories for a really good deal. I mean, I pay as much for Netflix and I think I use this app more. The app is definitely not perfect but it gets better with every update. Thanks btw for making it 15000 times easier to navigate!!! My only issues are pretty much the same as everyone else’s—it’s kind of slow and I frequently lose my place when I lock my phone. But since on average they’re only 20 pages it’s not hard to navigate back. So it’s ultimately really great. Keep up the good work!!

Love the app, but my current reading list almost always boots out my latest issue and when I click to read a comic it usually starts me back quite a few pages from where I actually left off.

Having trouble with the “read offline” and the browse for characters. If I’m online things are fine, but I’m about to go on a trip and really wanted to download some books to read offline. Fix this, and I’ll rate it higher :).

My library and offline issues go missing all the time now.

I’ve been trying to read a comic, any comic, for 2 days now and no matter what I try, I keep getting Loading Data. No update. No nothing. I will cancel my subscription unless this is fixed.

You’d think with all that Disney Money the could hire decent programmers to debug before releasing an update

After updating to IOS 12 the reading lists won’t load anymore...

The content is good, and the features and design are pretty good, but this app is SOOOOOO buggy. I download content to read offline and about half the time it is unavailable when I go to read it. Then I get a message that my account has been “locked” (with no explanation why) and I have to reset my password. I have subscribed to the Unlimited service for three years and can’t even count how many times I’ve had to reset my password, but today, when I decided to write this review was the worst, as I am currently resetting it for the second time in a single day. I have written to Marvel about this issue multiple times (they must know about it) and received no helpful response.

I love this app. I really love how a large chunk of Marvels comics are at my fingertips. The only thing that would make this app perfect would be a way of creating folders in my library so I can organize the comics I have in my library. Certain days I want to read certain things and it gets tiresome scrolling through 40-50 comics to find the book or arc I want to read. Other than that it’s great

There are frequent page loading issues that make the reading experience frustrating. For instance, page 14 and 16 can load, but not 15

I love this app! It’s got a lot of Marvel’s catalog. Plenty to read and good for beginners. Wish the service was a little cheaper due to the app being a little subpar. The app is mostly good but suffers from stability problems and the UI being counterintuitive. There could be plenty of improvements to the UI and the app itself. There are features I would like them to add. I wish you could see the full comic page in horizontal, and wish I could see two pages at once like the Marvel app. Overall the app is good but not great.

Maybe I am super lucky, because I have had zero tech issues with this app. Everything loads just fine and quickly when connected to a good network. The navigation does have its limitations and bookmarking would be handy, but I can read all the comics I want and that’s just fine with me.

Nothing loads. I am cancelling my subscription.

How have you not figured this out yet? It’s 2018 and Disney/Marvel can’t make a functional application? Get it together. Hire new staff, go pick up some millennial that actually knows how to code! This is an old app, there is absolutely no excuse for this bunk.

The idea behind the app is great, but unfortunately the app runs like absolute trash and has been trash for months. I constantly get logged out, my login will no longer work, I’m unable to reset my password and get errors. When I finally do get my account unlocked and reset it only lasts a day or so. Issues do not load, there are always “unknown errors.” The app is littered unusable. This is not an exaggeration or hyperbole, the app does not work at all. I have two separate iOS devices and the same issues happen on both. This has been going on for months. I am going to call and get my money refunded, it’s unacceptable. After doing some research online it seems to be a very common problem. I cannot see why nothing has been fixed.

So I JUST got the subscription and yet I can’t log in onto the app, by tablet or phone. I’ve tried reinstalling and changed my password twice. Currently waiting on support response but I intend to seek a refund if I can’t even use the service after spending money on it. Which is sad because I was so excited to catch up on Spider-Man at long last

I’ve been a customer since 2013. The response time for a technical support is 7 days. Every update obligates you to change your password. There is no warning or update reporting when this happens. This app is only good to read back issues. If you own digital issues please back them up. I recommend to use Comixology because you can sync your digital purchases. My days of giving money to this app on a monthly basis are numbered.

This app is amazing when it works. I really enjoy consuming comics in this fashion. Especially on the iPad it’s so perfect! The Good: I’m a new comic reader and stumbled upon this app and really enjoyed it. I read about 500 comics within the year. There is access to most of the really good story arcs. The high resolution pages come out crystal clear. The Bad: The app has given me so many issues logging on and being logged out when reading comics back to back, all sorts of random weird text pops up in the description of the comics, sometimes the whole library will disappear for hours, when I download a comic to my device and read it while I’m offline I get an error saying, “failed to page”. Overall: This app has the potential to be great and has been for me in the past, but as of lately it’s become a nuisance to use and it really drives me crazy. I get so involved in these comics during my commutes. I hope Marvel invests some money to making this app work better.

This app is so frustrating and hard to use. Sadly I’m forced to use it because it’s the only way to read comics on my phone without spending lots of money. It often just refuses to work. Like if you search for a series and click on it, it will show “no results found” and will do this for almost anything you click on. Sometimes it just won’t load your library, or will crash when you try, and sometimes won’t download comics to your phone. It’s hard to stay organized with the app and I would appreciate if that got worked on. I’d like to see a way to organize your comics more than just having one library to put all your comics. It can get hard to find what your looking for if you have lots of books. I think this app has great potential and I’d love for it to work properly.

This app is generally buggy but worth it for what you get. The latest update has caused BIG problems for me. I had a number of issues downloaded to read and they all disappeared from my downloads. Then I tried to download issues again and they will not download. When an issue appears to be downloaded and I go into it I get a loading screen. I am very frustrated. I have tried rebooting my iPad, using different internet and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Nothing works. Please, please fix.

The app is broken and unusable. Can’t load any comics through WiFi or download anything either. Search is functional but useless if you can’t load content.

Love reading the comics, but can’t even log into my account anymore. Have reset my password multiple times and it works on the marvel website but sends an error in the app. Contacted customer service a week ago and haven’t heard back Even when i was able to log in, app would constantly crash or take 10 minutes to load a single page. Love the content but the app needs major work.

There is problem with downloaded offline comics. I saved him to off-line, but when I click on them I get the spinning loading page icon. If I connect to the Internet right then. It goes away and the comic comes up. So offline is not really off-line.

For having the resources I would expect they have, it is surprising that this app is as bad as it is. Don’t get me wrong. I love Marvel and the content this service offers and appreciate the fact they are constantly adding new content to the platform and keeping the pr de at a rock bottom $9.99. On the other hand, I’d be willing to pay a little more for a stable application that doesn’t spontaneously corrupt my offline downloads or randomly freeze up during navigation. Hopefully they’ll eventually work out all the kinks but till then, I’ll have to suffer through it because there is no better way to read old Marvel comics than Marvel Unlimited.

Been using the app for a while now but the latest update makes it impossible to use. Try to open a comic, get the icon spinning forever as it “prepares”. Try to read offline, “whoops there was an error”. Please fix ASAP, a major corporate funded app should not have such basic issues

Overall the app works. But in order to be a great app it needs a way to subscribe to different series and when a new comic in that series is released it get added to your library automatically. I also want comics I have read to be removed from my library automatically.

It’s a 50/50 shot that the app properly loads when you open it, and even less than that if you’re trying to utilize the offline viewing mode—you don’t know that issues have failed to download until you try to read them offline, and at that point it’s too late to do anything about it. When it works properly, though, big thumbs up.

Seems like every update breaks the app so hard they have to push another one out a day later. New update wouldn’t let me view or download anything. Tried logging out only to figure out I can’t log back in. Tried to reset password only to figure out that’s glitched and not working too. At least the app icon is pretty, right Marvel? ::eye roll::

With latest 2 updates (in less than a week) the app no longer works. Persistent “failed to download content” message.

Offline reading does not work at all after the latest update. Anything you download for offline reading will be removed as soon as you shut down the app. Fix this!

The app is great, and an amazing way to k*** time, but some comics I love are missing. Other than that, 5-star app.

You have to pay to read he comic wen you can go to library and read it there for free! Plus it's very buggy.

MU has brought countless hours of joy and entertainment to my life. I’ve read and discovered series that I never would have otherwise. I’ve found characters and stories that I absolutely love and would never have even known about without the app. It’s the best value in comics with the best content to back it up. The app performs wonderfully on my iPad. I was hesitant to move away from paper comics but I’ve completely enjoyed the transition. The app is easy to use and beautiful. Thank you so much, Marvel!

Actual garbage app. They make so much money I do not understand how marvel couldn’t hire some legit app developers. This app has the functionality and navigation of a potato. Must have been created by some high school interns. Please correct your garbage app Marvel.

Content is great, but app is incredibly frustrating considering Marvel is a large company. Randomly locks you out or empties library with no rhyme or reason, forcing you to reset passwords on multiple devices. I have subscribed to this for years but the bugginess is getting tiring.

The two stars are solely for the Marvel Unlimited service, which is great. The service gives you access to a huge library. Unfortunately you have to use this terrible app to read it. There are some amazing bugs that have not been resolved in years. My favorite one is when the app randomly decides to delete all the offline comics you have downloaded. Or the one when where some comics get locked out in an infinite loading loop. It’s hard to pick just one.

I tried marvel unlimited 3 years ago and it was a fantastic experience. Offline worked flawlessly. Tried it again this month, and somehow the app is much less stable than it was 3 years ago! I personally use this as a travel companion, so I download all my books to read offline. When I do this, it will sometimes work correctly, but often enough the downloaded comics will somehow get corrupt so when I try to read them later, my entire offline library has red x’s upon opening and I cannot read what I had downloaded! So what I had planned on reading while traveling, tough it says “read offline” cannot be read! Grrrrr! Contacted support a week ago and still have not gotten a reply. Great concept, great price, but frustrating app bugs will have me canceling my subscription.

I love comics but this app really isn’t good It constantly needs to be rebooted. And it spins it’s wheels round and round Crashes too. They’re lucky I like - love Spider-Man But seriously this app stinks

Beware! You need to call an 800# to cancel this app. Most children, the target of this app, can’t do this. You won’t know this until you start getting charged. Predatory app with little valuable content.

Kind of annoying when trying to glance into a characters comic history, it goes into artist history. Happens with doctor strange.

It is three years since the 12.9 inch iPad was announced and this app is still not optimized for it.

For all the money I give Marvel how come they can’t make an app that works? - Password reset issues once a week - Content I save to read offline NEVER refreshes and is often not what I selected - UI is laggy and menu animations are jumpy and skip around Marvel please do better!!

Downloading for offline use keeps crashing. Everything I download keeps getting deleted. Unacceptable

I originally subscribed through an android phone and started reading the SpiderMan series from oldest comic first to newest. On the android, when you browse by character I had over 2000 comics with SpiderMan. Well, I switched to iPhone and redownloaded the app and tried to continue on. My series I was reading is no longer on there, and the browse page is a little over 1000 instead of two. I signed in on a friends android to see if the comics was taken off, it still shows them all on his. I have sent multiple emails for support and heard no response.

Unlimited comics for a flat fee is a steal

What is going on??? I can’t even read a comic anymore ... it just loading... there is both wrong with my connection... it was an amazing app before this and worth every penny... FIX IT PEOPLE!!!!!!

I love this app, and the only problem I have with it is that some series are missing some issues, whether they be old or new. The missing issues are usually only in the old series’ though. Also, some books like the Thanos: Infinity Relativity, are completely gone, and some series are renamed! Please fix

You should be able to put a whole series in library and when finish reading itll now go to a finished section. So now things are all scrambled when looking for series u were read

Pages will constantly fail to load. Only fix is app restart. Needs at least a “refresh” or reload type button after a few seconds of that happens. Its done this for 1 year +. Also very hard to track a story due to all the crossovers to other books. The last pages of the print comics list the related crossovers but there’s no shortcut in the app to go to them and no great way to come back to the next issue of what you were reading. There should be a “read” icon overlaid on things you have read, rather than needing to tap and load to see what it says on the popup. Also could use a way to follow/save a shortcut to an “event” or character or other section, and a way to keep track of what you’ve read so far inside of those caregories.

Nothing loads offline

I have had this app now for 2 years. I love being able to access so many comics from anywhere I am. When I fly, I download copies of a series I want to catch up on. When in lines at conventions, I keep reading. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy comics and learn more about each character, writer and artist. It’s been the best annual investment I make for this long and it’ll continue to be my investment going forward.

Update of my last review... Seems like the problems I had (couldn’t see more than 3 pages of every issue, got an error every time I tried to download, didn’t sync with my general account) were likely due to a stale login. After logging out and back in to the app I was able to see entire comics (not just the first 3 pages) and the other features appear to work as well. Now that the main problems I had with the app are seemingly fixed (everything is stable and works as it should), I’m very happy with it. The content is great (hard to beat this volume of IP for $10/Mo) and it’s awesome having everything right at your fingertips with an intuitive interface.

This App is riddled with bugs like the fact that right now I can’t read any offline. Also with reading offline the app still takes a very long time to load it. Overall I would hope this app would be better for the amount that I paid to use it.

I really want to like this app but there are just such basic UI things missing. Why can’t I read comics in order of an event instead of having to hop around? Why will I lose whole swaths of my library? Why are authors and creators listed twice and there gaps in their work between the two authors? This app has wonderful content but they have to fix their UI before I renew my subscription

Least you could do is let me actually keep downloaded books until I’ve actually read them.

i’m not sure if there is a way to add the whole series at once, instead of opening one book and clicking add. maybe swipe to add or anything like that will help

Amazing content but the app needs better content search/sorting/reading. Adding and searching for content is bulky and difficult. The app could use some simplified controls or swipes rather than the deep menu structure currently used. The library as implemented is a disorganized dump of comics that is difficult to manage. Can we just have simple “subscriptions” to titles rather than having to add each individual book to our library? Offline reading is way too restricted at 12 comics, I have to rush at the subway platform to load books onto the offline for my hour long underground commute. This could be made much simpler if the limit were between 20-50 offline books. I could just load my offline for the week rather than daily.

My friend and I were talking, and he was considering getting the app. Well, he asked if spawn comics were there. Now, it says a lot of comics are there, and there are, and spawn isn’t part of the Marvel universe. But there is Star Wars comics. Lucasfilm and Marvel are only associated with each other because of Disney, yet buying a company doesn’t make you want to put spawn comics on there? I mean come on! It’s a great app, but really? I’ll five star it when I see spawn comics. Put your comics on there, as promised, rather than Star Wars comics! Thanks for reading this! Please add Spawn! He’s really cool!

This is a great app and does what it says, gives you all the marvel comics but my complaint is that they add star wars comics which marvel doesn’t even own might I add but not image comics which marvel did buy so yeah add those and get 5

Comics will not load up. I need my fix, man.

The biggest complaint I have is the comics you read on your computer , don’t sync up with the app, so it’s frustrating trying to remember what the last comic you read was, navigating the app and website are extremely difficult and I find my self googling the comics series and pasting it into the search bc I can’t find it any other way, sometimes sliding through the comics it cuts off the Dialogue which is annoying, but the comics look great and it’s a great deal for what you pay for, the app and website seem like they were developed in 2002

Getting ready to call my credit cards fraud department. My account is “locked“ and I cannot get any responses from technical support or reset password email to any email address. I have been trying for two weeks contacting support on a daily basis and absolutely no responses. I’m just going to have to dispute the charge for the marvel unlimited subscription as I cannot access anything. Great idea would be awesome if the app actually worked. Or there was any kind of support.

I’ve been trying to use app but every time I try there is an error happening, I joined for the free trial but then it keeps telling me to join and that an error occurred in iTunes. I checked my subscriptions on my phone and marvel unlimited is there I don’t understand what this error is.

Iv had MU since December of 2016 and it’s become one of my favorite apps. I pay $70 ish a year, it pays for itself within a couple months of use. Majority of my reading is on a 12 inch iPad but it’s very easy to read on an iPhone as well.

The app is not very good. It doesnt want to load and it may or may not work 10 percent of the time. Also marvel unlimited doesnt honor their codes. Very sneaky and shady company. 0 stars

App will only show the first 3 pages of every comic. It also won’t allow me to add to library, or download for offline use! It worked for months. Then one day, nothing.

Love the idea, love the content, love the format. But $10/ month isn’t sustainable. For $5, I’d be all over this.

I have had this app for a few months now, and I’m reading through ALL of Uncanny X-Men. This is something I always wanted to do as a kid, but never had the money and never knew where to start. This makes comics totally accessible for cheap, and I am over the moon about it. The only reason this app gets 4 stars instead of 5 is the inability to use the same account on both my iPad and Android device. That and the occasional freeze/crash when I leave an issue and come back to it later. If those two issues were fixed, Marvel Unlimited would literally be perfect.

The offline viewing feature is inconsistent at best. If you were planning on loading up a dozen issues to read on a long flight, you will be sorely disappointed. Even when the app says the issues are downloaded, they simply are not going to display without WiFi most of the time. Otherwise this app is great. Awesome library, easy to browse. Works great on my iPhone 6S.

If it weren’t for the awesome content, there is no way that I would ever waste my time with this app. I know they are working to improve, but I usually have to close out and restart this app 3-5 times before it will actually work. That doesn’t count the times it crashes on its own. I have sent notice to the developer and was asked to uninstall and reinstall the app. I did and it hasn’t helped. For such an awesome subscription service, I simply expect more. But I will continue to use it despite its bugs because how else am I going to read this many comics for $10 a month? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lot of bugs need to be worked out. Never saves correct issue I’m on and has trouble loading sometimes. Frustrating.

The content is pretty awesome, and I have had a good experience with the reading on iPad. The only complaint is, every time I open the app, it takes about 30 seconds before it responds to any touches. I don’t know what all it’s doing then, but man I just want to read my comics already.

Let me start off by saying that the app itself and the content is great! The problem is canceling your membership. I signed up for the app and enjoyed it for a month before I decided that I wasn’t using it enough to justify the $9.99 a month membership charge. I searched for a way to cancel my membership and that’s when it became sketchy. The ONLY way to cancel it is by contacting them directly. It seemed strange but I sent them an email stating that I no longer wanted to be a member and requested that they cancel my membership. A month went by with NO RESPONSE AT ALL and as soon as the renewal date was reached THEY CHARGED ME for another month! I attempted to contact them again, but received no reply so I had to turn to the Apple Support Team to get my money back. I heard back from Apple the next day, received a refund, and figured that it was finally over....I was wrong. The next month, on the monthly “receive payment for services” day they tried to charge me AGAIN! I attempted to contact their support team in the email that they provided, but after sending my email I immediately received a response stating that the email address provided does not exist. I tried resending my email thinking that it was a weird error, but immediately received a reply stating that the email provided is not valid. So here I am months later and they continue to try and charge me every month and there is no way to cancel my membership. AVOID THIS APP LIKE THE PLAGUE! Every month makes this feel more and more like a well put together scam.

So as of right now I have had the app and service for about a month. I can only read anything on my phone. I have called and contacted customer service and get told that in general there is some problems they are working on between apple and marvel to get to be able to use my account on my pc or other tablet. It’s sorta getting on my nerves not being able to fully use the service as advertised, and the semi lack of care being put into getting it to work. Two giant companies and they can’t get together to do something as simple as this? As for the content, it’s great. For 9.99 a month it’s a steal.

Overall, this app works fairly well, especially on iPad, where reading comic book formats is easier. It would go a lot further, and have profiles, similar to the Netflix app... it would be great to be able to create profiles for my kids, so they could read their own comics. Speaking of which, the app could lock out certain title based on rating. And you could also put the Marvel Max comics in here. AND! If you put IOS device in “Invert Colors” mode, the system flips the colors of all of the comic pages. It would be great if it would not do this, or if, at least you could have a setting to “reflip” colors while having a device in “Invert Colors” mode.

Going on four months waiting for unlimited plus kit. Oh and I still can only read three pages

Many of the comics won’t download. Hey will show they are, but you have to wait a little while so it can load the next page while you are trying to read. It takes forever to download the ones that do. Most of the time you can’t connect to their servers anyway. This app was fine 6 months ago when I paid for my year subscription. Now they have made it useless, don’t waste money on it.

I love this service, but the app really has opportunities. It’s hard to navigate, the recent comics I’ve read aren’t properly refreshed or kept in sync between devices. My library randomly disappears, comics tend to take a while to load (over private WiFi) or just don’t load. The app is also a little difficult to navigate. Please give the app a good upgrade.

The web platform of marvel unlimited is very clunky, but this app works exceptionally well on an iPad. The library feature is very easy to use, and it’s easy to read comics chronologically.

Multiple failed page errors on files that say they are downloaded, but only work when on WiFi.

The main gripe that I have with this app is that on the search page I can see all the results, but when I tap on a series that I want to look at and it says I’m not connected to the internet no matter what. I have made sure that WiFi is connected and it doesn’t change it.

In the past, I’ve experienced glitches and bugs but recently it has worked 100%. This app is the absolute best way to read comics. Great job devs for fixing the annoying bugs in the past.

Well, as of right now I’m unable to download any comics for offline viewing.

I’ve had a recurring problem with only being able to view the first three pages of any comic book. If I’m lucky, I’m able to read the full book if I close and re-open the app, but even that hasn’t worked recently. Also can’t delete any of my downloaded comics, for some reason, so I can’t add anything new for times when I don’t have wifi. On a design flaw note, this app makes it really hard to read crossover events (it only suggests the next comic in the series and not the next one in the event timeline). I also wish it could keep track of which comics I’ve read across devices - right now if I’m signed on through my phone, it marks any comics I read on my iPad as “unread,” which makes it hard to remember where I am.

UPDATE: changing my password at Marvel.com brought my library back, but this does not resolve my problems. If I should periodically change my password, I should be notified of this rather than suffering without explanation diminishing functionality on the app. Further, it just introduced another bug that now all comics display in my library whether read or unread, no matter what option I choose. If I want to look at unread comics, those I have marked as read do disappear from the list if I click on them....one at a time. Which also raises another issue I have with the interface. There really needs to be an option to add more than one comic at a time to the library and to mark more than one at a time as either read or unread.

Getting tons of errors, and only specific comics are offline capable.

Marvel Unlimited as a service thus far is outstanding, I have comiXology unlimited as well and started reading a lot of back issues of X-Men on there that I hadn’t had the opportunity to read before. But they don’t have all of it ok unlimited. Marvel Unlimited does have pretty much everything I’ve wanted to continue reading and so much more that I’m excited to get into. The APP however is a different story. It works fine most of the time. But sometimes for no apparent reason pages won’t load, I’ll have to restart the app just to finish one comic a few times. Sometimes when I turn my phone from landscape to portraits or vice versa, the page just goes black and I have to skip to the next page and move back in order for it to show up again. It’s a rather buggy app and can definitely use some dramatic improvements.

I like the idea of having the majority of marvel comics all in one place. However, it’s hard to enjoy when it takes forever to load anything, or doesn’t load at all, especially with searching series, characters, events, etc. This desperately needs to be fixed right away. It’s criminal to have users pay for a subscription then not manage the app well enough to even view comics.

Not sure what happened to this app but it loads slower then it used to and loads comics slow. App also crashes frequently and the currently reading section often doesn’t update at all. It seems to get worse every week.

I’ve kept and maintained this app for quite some time and have been perpetually disappointed on every level . There have been so many times that this app has failed to deliver on so many basic levels that disappointment would be an understatement. I’ve continued to try to to see if the app would work as a marvel loyalist and have been consistently disappointed.

I’ve been an MU subscriber for almost 3 years. The service itself is a ridiculously great value... but the app is garbage. I don’t understand how after 3 years of constant updates there have been zero changes to features or looks but still continuous bugs. Every update is to fix bugs but either none of the bugs get fixed or 2 bugs pop up for every 1 that gets fixed. I just don't understand it.

The “currently reading” section NEVER works properly. If the app gets killed while I am reading it closes the book I am on. Just save my place for crying out loud. I have to go back and search for that book in my library! Why!?! It doesn’t let you group your books by series in the library and doesn’t order them by issue number. I am trying to read a crossover story that involves multiple titles and the experience is horrible. The thumbnails are way too small to read what number of the crossover is on the title page so I have to try 6 different titles to see which one I was on when I come back in and which comes next. Worse, it starts the ones I read over again so I have to page through to the last page to see what title/issue is next. The actual reading of the books is a pleasure but the browsing is abysmal. I manage a mobile app team and I would fire my devs if they let a product go out with this poor a user experience.

From offline comics not correctly downloading to the constant loading spinning circle of death. This app needs a MAJOR update. Please fix, otherwise I will be unsubscribing! Thank you.

I like to read on the plane and when at work where there’s no internet access. And I can’t delete my read off line comics. So frustrating.

I love the idea of going to the Home button in the app and being able to discover a new event that I might not have read about, but the lack of a “download all” button for the event is driving me insane! If I’m lucky, the event is only for 1 comic series so it’s not terrible to open the first one and read them in order, but for any major comic event there is usually a cross over - like the Infinity story where the crossover is for a selection of 3 different comic series. The app needs to be redesigned to support a “download all” for the event AND a “Make ALL available for offline for the event. And what’s with the 12 comic limit for offline? I can’t make it through a 4 hour flight from Georgia to California with only 12 issues offline... Please fix!

*UPDATE June 2018* In general the App seems more stable, but since the last couple of updates, the Offline Library has been acting weird. Even though the issues show as downloaded, they won't load a lot of the time* First off, the content library is amazing. The titles you have access to (which are added about 6 months after publishing) are staggering considering the price. You can get a year's worth of Unlimited comics for the price of about 3 arcs on the Marvel Comics app. That said, I have actually gone to the Marvel Comics app and bought titles that I had "free" access to because the Marvel Unlimited app is so unreliable. Think of this as an online-only streaming app... The "download" feature works so sparingly that it isn't worth considering. If you're going on a long flight... Just buy the issues on the trusty Marvel Comics app instead. Be prepared to search for a title multiple times to read it. Adding an issue to the library is hit or miss. Deleting one that you did manage to add can be nigh-on impossible. And sometimes you have to exit and retry a few times to get the issue to load. Sometimes you have to access it from a different location. It can get VERY frustrating. The app sorts your library one way and one way only... By publish date. I like that feature for reading things like Avengers or X-Men, which have multiple books going on simultaneously... But it's odd to me that you can't group it by title or story arc. BOTTOM LINE: This is a budget app, and man does it feel like one. But it has its uses, and if you are willing to put up with the bugs, the content will provide hours and hours and hours of good reads.

Pros- - Cool interface that lets you zoom in and scroll either by page or by scene - Huge library and lots of fun stuff to read - Cheaper and easier than buying individual comics - Events outlined nicely, with cross-overs and reading order (infinity, civil war, etc) Cons - Doesn’t save your progress when the app closes unless you add the comic to your library. Make sure you add everything to your library - So many missing issues! Doctor Strange (2015) skips from #26 to #381. No point in reading #381 + with no context. Infinity Watch just ends, the app says “coming soon.” It was written in the 90’s. When is “soon?” I took off 2 stars for the main problem- incomplete series. It’s frustrating to get really into a series only to find that you can’t continue the story. They should notate a series as “incomplete” when you open the series page.

This app seemed like a great idea. Downloaded it, subscribe through itunes, app came up with a nice little splash screen Star Reading. Went to pick a comic and low and behold the app says I have not joined and i need to subscribe. Restore purchase...purchase restored...repeat cycle of app say i have not joined. Deleted...reinstalled and guess what your worthless app still says I have not joined. Thanks at least for the 1 week trial. Now to delete subscription and not deal with this junk app again.

I signed up for the service and then I was not able to log in. The correct information was entered each time but the weak sauce authentication servers couldn’t complete the log in process. I guess I will just read the hard copies. It’s 2018 Disney, get with the times.

I love Marvel Unlimited as a concept. Reading unlimited comics is amazing. I’ve never bought a physical comic book and really feel like this service has opened an entire world previously unknown. I’ve been an annual subscriber for 2+ years. The app and interface however are absolutely terrible. There hasn’t been a meaningful update in forever. It signs me out constantly, doesn’t mark the issues I’ve read, and rarely downloads issues for offline reading successfully. I want: -A way to bookmark series I follow so new comics are flagged to be read so I don’t have to go hunting to see if a new issue has been uploaded. -A way to download the next issue in a series for offline reading with a single tap. For example, if I finish reading Spiderman/Deadpool #11, I’d like the menu option to save #12, so I can read it later. Right now the option is to download #11, which just makes no sense. I just finished it, why do I want to make it available offline? To download 12 I have to follow a convoluted path. -Just all around fewer error messages and smoother loading. It feels like the developers got to “good enough” and then abandoned the app. They upload new comics weekly, but don't make any other changes.

Ok first off I don’t know what those guys problems are,but who cares? It’s a great app especially if you’re a marvel fan! I recommend this to any fan who can’t actually get to a comic store,or if they don’t want to pay...but other than that,it’s great for 10$ a month!

What happened. Prior versions were fine.

I’m very happy with this service and the app. It has an odd bug every now and again, it won’t put a comic into the currently reading sometimes, but I love this thing. I like that there is the panel scrolling option for smaller screens like an iPhone, makes everything much easier to follow, and on larger iPads it has the beautiful art in full and is an experience. I fell out of love with comics a long time ago, but now I am diving headfirst into them again, and loving every minute of it. Totally worth the price.

I can't read any comics on the iOS version. But I can read everything correctly on my iPad. It loads the first 3 pages and that's it, it didn't even acknowledge that there are more then 3 pages. Please fix it.

I love that there’s an app to read Marvel comics on. I just wish it worked at least half of the time. It crashes, freezes, takes forever to load, doesn’t load at all, etc., etc. Lately it’s not letting me read past page 3 as if I’m not an active subscriber. Deleting the app and redownloading it seems to fix it, but it’s happens everyday so I’m getting annoyed really quick. It’s honestly one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. I’m thinking of just canceling. There are much “better” ways to download comics anyways. You think with all the Disney cash they could actually afford to hire decent mobile developers.

Really appreciate the effort that Marvel and the developers put into this app. This service is amazing and has allowed me to familiarize myself with dozens of characters that I never would’ve known about otherwise. Treasure trove of entertainment all in one place

If this app worked more like Netflix, it would be perfect. As it is now, it isn’t always clear whether or not I’ve read a particular comic. If I read it fairly recently, it will go to my stopping point, but when I haven’t used the app for a month or so, most read history seems to be gone. I recently revisited an event after starting it some time ago, and there was no indication as to which ones I had read. I had to start reading through several issues before coming across something that seemed new. Also, it would be nice if, when reading an issue from an event, after reaching the end it would show the next issue in the EVENT, not the specific series. Kinda like queuing up the next song in a playlist versus an album. Finally, I’ve noticed that issues I’ve read through to the end are still showing up in my currently reading queue.

Is the App perfect no, is it everything you ever wanted from a comic subscription service? Yes! Yes it is! Events compiled for easy access, entire runs of comics! I am reading at least ten comics a day! I will be a subscriber for life, true believers!

There is a problem on the app where there is only 3 pages of a comic I am able to read and when I go to the page menu it says there is at least 30 overall the app is pretty good but I would love for the developer to write back so I feel confident the problem will be solved

I’ve had this app for about a year now and every single time I’ve opened it, it always crashes, freezes, just a blank screen, says to sign up even though I’m signed in already, click the app only to immediately be kicked out of it, and many many more issues. Seriously fix you s**t marvel.

At first I was hesitant about this app because of the reviews and score, but it doesn’t deserve the score it gets, app is fantastic I’ve being using it like crazy daily, and probably have run into 3 times the app kicks me out besides that no problems at all, given that I’ve always being lucky when it comes to not getting bugs or glitches, it you enjoy reading comics I would heavily recommend this app, and when it comes to the monthly fee think of it like this, if you read 6 monthly on this app you are already paying less than getting 1 volume. Highly recommend it .

I bought the subscription and it dod not work at all. If i went to read a comic it would tell me to join and subscribe even though I was already subscribed. In the free trial period it didn't work and i thought it would work when i paid that first month. Although it still didn't work. Don't get this app it has scammed me of $10. Do not even bother to download this app. It is truly a disgrace to marvel comics fans.

App would be perfect but they’re too many issues with it. Like my library will disappear and then my offline mode will disappear. Have to redownload offline issues in order to read get all the pages to load. No book mark to mark were you leave off. Marvel can do better than this!

I did not know the app was a thing until today, and when I found out about it I was super excited. Unfortunately this app is terrible! Right when I opened it the app it crashed, so I reinstalled it. I tried to create an account and it claimed that there was an error creating an account, so I skipped it. I then tried to add a comic to “read offline” and it said my limit of 12 offline comics had exceeded when I had none. I really would love this app to work. PLEASE FIX

It’s like Netflix for comic books. I asked for the app to be updated for iPhone X because it cuts off the words on the top panel and you listened to me!!!! Thanks guys!!! This definitely deserves 5 stars. Flawless execution, massive library, and intuitive display. This is what a comic book reader should be.

You change the default filters and don’t let the user change and save the filter they want to use. I have to apply a filter to list comics from oldest to newest every single time I look at that series. For people reading older series for the first time, this is horrible. Way to go.

I paid for monthly subscription with the intent on using on my 12 inch iPad..bad decision...it works on the web..but not on Safari. Do not subscribe until this issue is fixed

I have to delete and reinstall this bug fest almost weekly. “Oops something went wrong” is read about as often as any comic is.

You just couldn’t handle the greed could you Marvel? You promised me unlimited comics for free, but wha woah, asking me for my credit card information. Those who are reading this, let me say this, I would trust Loki with 3 infinity stones more than downloading this app.

I love the service MU provides, I just wish I could access it more. Buggy, slow, unreliable. Constantly won’t download issues no matter how many times I try to. Often only gives me the first three pages of an issue with no indication if I'll ever get to read the rest. It’s very irritating.

Update – Marvel contacted me regarding my review and seems to be actively pursuing a fix. Refreshing to see app devs who actively research and attempt to located bugs. Updating to 3 stars and will happily give more upon learning an issue is resolved App is suddenly giving an error that there is no internet connection. I’m on a very fast WiFi and tried LTE as well. Several on Reddit complaining about this off and on. I’m an app developer and can spot bad code for detecting connectivity as the culprit. It happens but Marvel needs to make a fix a priority. Once they do I’ll update my review and rating. Right now I can’t use my subscription on my phone. So money being wasted. I can fix the code within a few hours.. no reason the devs of this app can’t as well.

How does a giant like Marvel allow a piece of trash app like this get released? I remember when the comic community cared about the reader. This app clearly shows that after years of buggy issues, they refuse to commit to their customers and deliver what they claim it does. I constantly get signed out while reading and lose my spot, comics are not able to be organized and is complicated finding my spot after being kicked out, several times a week I can only view first 3 pages of books, some books say downloaded but get an error when trying to view them. Again, complete trash. You could have had a life customer in me. Now I tell everyone that I know who is into comics like me to not be fooled into getting literally robbed.

Consistently have to close and reopen the app to get random pages to work. I also haven't been able to save anything to read offline for over a week. I really like the idea of having access to all the comics I enjoy. Just wish the app would perform better!

Just waited 50 seconds for the app to load. Why does it take this long? Recent updates have also messed up the recently read section on the front page.

I just downloaded the most recent update (it’s currently 5/3/18) and my entire library is gone, search won’t work, and I can’t read anything. This is for both iPhone and iPad.

It’d be nice to know that the app is so broken before signing up for a subscription.

I’m glad they have a week free trial because on day one the app would crash whenever I opened it. Couldn’t even get past the Unlimited splash screen. If the app would, you know, work then I would have subscribed no problem. Glad to know I didn’t waste my money.

The three stars I gave in this review are more for the service, not so much the application itself. The design is good in my opinion, but for some reason every time I try to open a comic it crashes. I’ve tried being on WiFi vs Cellular; and I’ve tried using the online version of the comic vs downloading it. However, much to my despair, the comics simply refuse to work with me. On the other hand, this is a great and inexpensive service to get all of the Marvel comics I’ve wanted to read. I can still use the service on Safari and my desktop browser, but Safari is clunky sometimes so I would much prefer to have a working application. If this issue is resolved, I would be more than happy to give it a 5 Star rating.

A subscription service for 9.99 per month? I don’t pay $15 for hbo, why I don’t like comics enough that they’d be above something like that.

Wish I could use the app but when I approve the subscription I get a “Cannot connect to iTunes Store”. Only happens on this app.

I like this subscription service but this app is terrible, and it’s bad enough to justify canceling my subscription all together. I do most my reading on the subway, where there is no cell service. This means I rely on the “Read Offline” feature, that rarely if ever works. Basically this means I waste a lot of data trying to read comics with my Marvel Unlimited subscription and a lot of the times I can’t access the books at all. A disgraceful embarrassment. 0 stars.

Just updated the app after Marvel stated they fixed this bug. Still not working. It’s been over 1 year. Need a refund.

Every time I open a comic it tells me to join and in my account tab it tells me that I am not currently a marvel unlimited member, even though I am. Please fix asap! After it got fixed I will change my review.

When it works it’s great. When it doesn’t, you’re having a terrible time. Examples? A “read offline” function that doesn’t actually save the comic to be read offline. The app only sometimes remembers where you left off, which means turning many pages to get to where you actually left off. A search function that leaves a lot to luck when finding what you’re looking for. I haven’t found a lot of “adult” targeted comics like Alias (Jessica Jones original series) but hoping those get added soon. There are times where the app loads nonsensical d**** text in the description instead of an actual synopsis. (Lorem Ipsum text). And worst of all, their servers are pretty slow and unreliable which means that even if I’m on a fast WiFi connection, sometimes the comics won’t download or download very slowly. Especially frustrating when it’s a comic that I downloaded for offline reading. The Good? Beautiful high resolution pages, Nice sized library to pick from, great cinematic scrolling through panels that brings the content and stories to life. I’m sure that takes a lot of work on their end and it’s worth the price of admission. They have curated and promoted content that I didn’t know about. It’s just too bad that on a technical level the app is unreliable. I’ll revise my review when this fix all my complaints

This app is really easy to use one you buy the subscription. The catch is that all comics are exactly 6 months behind!

I like reading Spider-Man comics

I have been using this app for more than 3 years and it is still very buggy. If you want to read a book while online it works relatively well... however, if you want to load up a few books to read on the plane while on airplane mode... GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! Once loaded, I have been trying to erase the ones I’ve read so I can load another set and it is not happening! This is very frustrating, to say the least! Please fix this!!!! I have been reading Marvel books for over 30 years, I deserve better!!!

With the current update to this app, it has become virtually unusable. Downloads of issues take a very long time; in fact, I don't even know if they ever finish as I have given up using it.

I can only read the first three pages of issues that I was in the middle of reading or have recently read as well as other issues that I tried. I have submitted feedback through email, and the latest update says the problem has been fixed in the release notes. The problem has not been fixed. I will not be renewing my annual subscription at the end of the month if the problem persists. I would have recommended this app in the past, but I cannot recommend it now.

This is really good it is working fine for me

I’ve been reading comics most of my life, but had to cut down when the hobby became ridiculously expensive. Although I still buy comics once and then, indulging on a good stack of 50 digital issues costs about a $100.00 (unless there is a good sale). Why would I want to spend that much when I can get an ebook for much less? Marvel Unlimited solves that problem. Although the comics are about a year behind the actual publication date, you can read for hours, and pretty much from anywhere. Great value, and tons of fun! Although the app is not perfect, but I have been a member since 2007 (before there was an app), and have never regretted it.

I downloaded the app about a year ago and have read a lot of comics using it. One thing that is frustrating is that they advertise having all the new comics but comics aren’t released on the app until three or more months after they are released in the comic book store. There’s also a few annoying bugs but overall a pretty good app and they have a big library

Marvel Unlimited Customer Service is absolutely horrible, apparently this program is run by a bunch of teenage kids. The free trial IS NOT FREE!!

First, when I signed up it would only let me see the first 3 pages of the comic. Then I tried signing out to sign back in, apparently that worked for some people, and now it won’t let me sign in and it won’t send me an email to reset my login info. I can’t use the app at all. I’ve googled the issue and I’m not the only one. This app is terrible.

I have been reading 3-5 comics each day all week, and the app has provided the promised experience and great works of literary art all week. :-)

This could literally be the future way to read comics, but they are have every bug you can think of in this app. The screen going black randomly and the app forgetting that I am are paying for a subscription at times, are my biggest issues. Other issues including missing comics in storyarches, panel movement issues, and very odd character selections being left out of the app entirely. Not sure if thats some weird contract thing but Daredevil, most of X-Men, and several other characters are missing quite a lot of their stories. Again, I love this app when it works and gas what I’m looking for. But if you don’t want to deal with any frustrations or glitches, you might just wanna dig through a secondhand sellers collection on Amazon.

The app is really buggy. Frequent errors when you try to add a comic to your library. The UI is clumsy and lacks the basic options you would think would come intuitively. For example; there isn’t an easy straightforward way to pick up the next issue of a series unless you add it to your library after finishing the previous issue. The app works and gets the job done but for something so obvious, and what should be marvels go to recommendation for digital comics. There is so much untapped potential here. It baffles me that this app isn’t finely tuned. This is a huge misstep in my opinion

What a galactic piece of c*** this app is. It has more bugs than an overrun ant farm. I emailed their tech support and they responded by asking me to list all the things wrong with it. I'm not your beta tester marvel, just open the app and you can see the infinite problems it has. Also, I had a year subscription, I didn't realize when it was up and of course they just charged my cc without any notice or asking if I'd like to continue. I abhor businesses that use that shady practice. I messaged them asking them to refund my money and cancel my subscription, of course I received no response.

The app works pretty well, but if I don’t finish an issue in one sitting, it rarely (if ever) remembers where I left off when I go back in. Super annoying, but not quite a deal breaker.

As a neat freak I am endlessly annoyed that I can’t remove titles from the currently reading list and they don’t automatically remove themselves when finished. Read offline feature is nice. Collections feature is awesome. I wish I could put folders in my reading list but not a major issue. Please give an option in the currently reading list to remove unwanted ones.

This app continues to get worse. I’m a big fan of the “won’t even let me open issues” feature. I pay $10 a month for this?

At age 23 I became a fan of Thor when he was created in 1962. My interest was renewed when the first Thor movie debuted. Though the movie didn’t exactly follow his origins to the letter it alluded to them in subtle ways. They brought back memories of the stories that I read and peaked my interest so that I searched the internet for copies of the old books. Much to my joy I discovered Marvel Unlimited! Even better was that you have almost all the issues of Thor dating back to the beginning! I wasn’t disappointed when I began to read them from the beginning and my memories of the stories of Thor’s exploits held true. Even more surprising was that I’ve become addicted to reading about him all over again. The stories are well written the artwork is fantastic. The Marvel Unlimited app works great at presenting each page and the quality of the reproduction of the books is phenomenal. Best app ever created. The list of comics is beyond extensive. I usually pick an event. Then read something from that event every night before bed. But when I finish that event. I can literally just spend a whole night just browsing their massive library planning my next reading selections. If you love Marvel, you’ll love this app.

I purchased the subscription right after Endgame to brush up on my comic knowledge. I was a huge Spider-Man fan as a kid, and had anything and everything Spider-Man. I’m 21 years old and the comics they have range from the 1960s to present! Anything and everything. I don’t read a lot of comics, but it’s great to be able to go back and maybe get a better insight for when the movies come out. Miles Morales comics are the best!!

I have had Marvel Unlimited almost since the beginning, first reading on a PC, then moving to the app. While I use MU on both the Android and IOS, the IOS version is superior. The only hiccup is that some of the older comics (I presume they digitized them first) don’t have the “smart panels” correctly sized, forcing you to bring up the entire page, then pinch and zoom to read. Overall, a must have for Marvel Comics fans, and a bargain when compared to the cost of new comics.

Hopefully the title of this review isn’t setting me up for increased dues. In all seriousness I would pay way more than the 9.99 I pay a month to read all these comics. It is organized better than the other comics apps as the new releases on Mondays are easy to find and reliably on time. As usual Marvel does everything first class and user friendly.

I’ve always been a fan of Marvel though I had never read any of their comics. With the MCU and Marvel’s popularity being at a all time high I decided I would start reading their comics. There is so much content here. I will be reading a backlog of comics for the foreseeable future before I have the need to purchase any new releases. At first it was overwhelming, but googling various sites about where to start helped me to gain my footing. I currently have 42 series in my library, each with at least twenty comics I still get to read. For only ten dollars a month, it’s a great deal.

I would give 5 stars but I don’t like the fact I can’t see how many pages there are in a comic and I can’t check what a comic looks like without having it added to my reading list

This app is very good for zooming in on pancake so you can read easily in your phone. The selection of comics is mined blowing and it’s very easy to navigate

If you love comics, this is the greatest invention ever! The entire Marvel comic universe, digitized, posted online, and available to enjoy at the click of a button, all for an affordable monthly. Absolutely worth every penny. Stan Lee would have been proud!

Great in almost every regard, I would like to be able to go to the next comic in an event rather than series, but that is minuscule in comparison to the wonder of being able to read old favs and fresh finds!

I love the app, great means of staying up with my favorite comics. At least 40 comics (new and old) uploaded each monday at 3am, adding to their already expansive collection to choose from. I only wish i could see how many comics ive read, like a number. I think im over 10,000 but wish i had a number

Not a committed collector, but love the MCU and what had given us in the past decade therefore, this is a good way to access to the source material.

Love having access to near unlimited reading of marvel comics while traveling for work, but the app itself splits the difference between marginally acceptable and absolute trash. Why do I have to close the app then reopen it and relogin for it to recognize my account? Why does the app freeze up arbitrarily when navigating between issues? Why does selecting an issue for “Read offline” sometimes not work and prevent me from viewing the issue until I unselect it? Why is there no way to word-wrap or horizontal scroll names of longer series to see what series your actually scrolling through without clicking them and losing your place? I’m in software and am sympathetic to anyone deploying applications on multiple platforms but seriously? For a paid subscription companion app, that is essentially a glorified image viewer, I would call this a swing and a miss for whichever department determined this was good enough for distribution... However, I still need to use this app as there is no better alternative and would love to see usability issues addressed in future releases. If no updates other than resolution of the app’s quirky bugs were released my rating would change to a 5.

$10/month and it has this many bugs? Pages don’t download correctly, searches give me errors, the filtering option is garbage: I chose to filter only infinity gauntlet comics and there were 4 options and one was Star Wars, not exactly what I was looking for.

The value is incredible if u like Marvel, and u know u do, I’ve read hundreds of awesome comics for ten bucks per my month. Honestly I’d have no problem paying 50 per month considering I read all the new ones and piles of older comics. I bought the huge iPad and the comics look perfect! This app is a game changer!

So far I haven’t had any problems with the app. Runs fine offline, very consistently saves my spot, loads well. However, I do find it hard to read storylines in order. For example, reading the Invincible Ironman series, all of sudden, someone is dead, and I’m super confused. Turns out they explained it in a different series - Civil War 2. Would have been nice to know to read those between the Ironman series. Also the website for macs is awful, would love to see an app appear for mac users instead of just on the iPhone/iPad.

The access to the large amounts of comics is great but the usability of the app is kind of annoying. I can’t figure out how to look at the entire title of each issue and the search bar leaves much to be desired. If you don’t type in the issue exactly nothing with pop up.

This is a great app. A must have on your phone or tablet. Has so many things to read and gets you hooked. I bought it so read the first few issues of spider man and am at around 2000+ comics so far! BUY IT YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Marvel Unlimited content is a godsend-any comic book lover’s dream. But the UI makes it easy to get lost, and the endless “loading” screen happens at least once every 3 comics. Would it be so tough to add a “reload” button?

Unlimited is the best service ever. This is my first day and I have read Civil War and Infinity War. It is the best.

The library is massive and the value is great. But the bugs. Ohhhh the bugs. This app logs me out randomly mid-usage, it crashes regularly, it can freeze for a minute at a time, and so many other problems. I wish I could give it five stars because the content and value deserve it, but the performance issues are endlessly frustrating

My boyfriend put me on to this because we both love comics. I always read physical books but it’s nice to have it conveniently rolled into one and no light issues, bulky bags at work or digging around for the next issue in stores. Highly recommend to all comic lovers and superhero fans !!!

I never took the time to read some of the reviews of this up until now and I am just shocked at how many people seem to have issues with it. I just passed my one year mark with marvel unlimited and while there were some really minor bugs in the past year, overall I have never had a single issue with this app. I have been very happy with this purchase and the amount of comics that I have been able to read in the past year using this app on the iPad has been amazing. I’ll admit that I’m not a big fan of it on the phone but I prefer to do all my reading on my iPad anyways so no big deal for me. My experience is that this app has been extremely stable overall and I have been very impressed with it. A good update they did a few weeks ago I believe .6 update for allowing coming since you’ve already read to be shown as read is a great improvement. Keep up the good work

Be careful when you go in the app make sure you get a marvel insider account before you make a purchase. If not its impossible to figure out how to cancel it, and you can’t use your account on a different device. That being said the app does contain great comics that are super easy to read with the smart panel function.

I’ve been reading comics since before I could read. The back list of available issues is incredible. I frequently just read random titles for a refreshing. Highly recommended.

The Marvel library access is tremendous there are a few holes in sections where they need to fill them in, My main problem with this app is it's fickle nature you have to turn the app on and leave it on for a few minutes and come back later say 5-10 minutes later, and the app should works right, sometimes you have to shut it down and restart that's annoying overall it's okay app

I spend more time trying to get the books to load then I actually do reading them!

With all the money Marvel is now connected to, you would think they could create an app that works better. This c***** app stalls all the time requiring you to sit it down and restart. Get it together already!!

This is my escape after a long day from work, after a shower and getting ready for bed, while I’m eating and want to relax and when I have too much in my mind and want to let go. After watching Endgame and crying my heart out, went back and read Deadpool to give me some laughs. This is a very important part in my routine now and I am very happy with how wonderful it turned out and how convenient it is. I would have never been able to afford all the physical comics I read (although I’d love to) so this is just fantastic for me. Excellent app!

I absolutely love this app. It’s totally worth the $10 a month. I can’t even count how many comics I’ve read since I discovered this. The quality of all the comic books are on point. For someone brand new to comics that wanna know where to start, you can literally google “where to start with (insert comic character you want here).” Comic Herald is also a great resource on telling you which comics to read to understand the stories of your favorite comic heroes/villains. The app also has a feature where it zooms in to each individual panel to perfectly fit your phone screen, so it’s almost as if you’re watching a movie as you read. The more modern the comic is, then the better suited the read is for this feature. Now it’s not EXACTLY like a streaming service like Spotify or something where the newest comic will be on the app on the day of release. That’s a good thing to me because they’re just encouraging you to still keep the tradition of learning about brand new stories as they come to the stores.

I love the service, the myriad selection, and the updates they are making to the app. There are bugs from time to time, but that’s to be expected with any app. I love it!

I love how many comics are on this app i love that it exists but man it is one buggy app. At times it moves so brutally slow it’s infuriating but it works well enough to navigate through. I really wish you could creat your own reading lists all you get is the ability to save things to your library. I have read so many comics on this app and i really enjoy it but they really need to work out the bugs.

What a great service offered by Marvel. There is so much content, especially if you are newer to reading comics. A lot of the curated reading lists are so helpful. There have been several updates in the last year that have made searching and using the app much easier. I especially appreciate the new search function for comic events. I wish they had a little more chronological organization in some of the reading lists or even suggested reading.

I love being able to read unlimited Marvel comics wherever I go! And you can even search comics by character appearance. It’s totally awesome!

Love the app, and Marvel comics. There are still a few features I’d love to see though. 1) Remove the 12 comic restriction. Marvel Unlimited is the only comic app to have that restriction. DC unlimited and ComiXology Unlimited truly allow you to have unlimited comics. It’s “Marvel Unlimited” not “Marvel 12 comics off WiFi”. 2) Custom personal lists (+1 if they can be shareable). Currently I use websites like Comic Book Herald to view reading orders to see all the comics I need to read in a storyline, and in which order. Since there is no list support I have to just keep track on the website or create an excel sheet, I’d love to just have a list support to clean up my library. 3) I’d love some kind of character encyclopedia. DC Unlimited has this feature, it’s real handy. The point of the app should keep people reading, and discovering new characters. Providing a full bio, and highlights in the app (besides the featured lists) would be great. 4) It would be great to see all comics not in the app as well. Maybe have them transparent / grayed out a bit, but making them more prominent than after reading the last comic and scrolling over to get the “read now” button, this would be helpful to see if the comic is still ongoing, and then I can decide if I want to go buy it or not. 5) The comic information view needs a redesign badly! Next ‘ Previous comic buttons were recently added, which is cool, but I can’t read any of the information about the comic, or it’s creators. I’d love to see the description more prominent, shouldn’t have to check another app for a comic description. The creative team on the comic should all be deeplinked to open the “More by this creator” page in the app, to make it easier. 6) comics should be readable in landscape. Sometimes I want to read comics while not holding it up with my hands. This either means I have to read the comic at a bad angle that’s hard to read (flat on the table) or I will put my iPad in landscape mode with it’s keyboard stand, but then the comic is zoomed up. It should fit to the screen. The reader really needs some love. Every time a new iPad comes out, the reader doesn’t work right for it. There are zooming issues (still are), scrolling issues, etc. The reader should work in all rotations, and shouldn’t auto-zoom, when zoomed in the entire comic should be scrollable too. I often find if I zoom in, the edge of the comic gets cut off and when I scroll the next page wants to load.

Always Enjoy Reading All The Different Comic Books!!!

If you are a comic book fan then this is absolutely for you. It can be a bit staggering to think of all the reading choices, but this is such an amazing platform. I still buy physical comic books but this is a great way to supplement reading lists and get the complete tie-ins for events.

The app was working fine before the last update, but now it won’t load anything past the first the pages of a title. Please fix this.

Starting to get frustrated with how many times I have to uninstall and reinstall because a glitch causes only 3 pages of a comic to load. Would love an option that allows me to customize an alert or notification setting for when specific series are updated. Other than that. Love it.

The content is overall awesome. It covers a lot of ground and goes as far back as mid 60s and anything from Spiderman to star wars. But it does not seem as fluid as I would expect. I've been trying to create an account and link it fb so I can go between my iPhone and iPad but it's been really difficult. I've also ran into one comic that only had three pages. It should also be easier to follow up on the next comic in the series after I read it and come back to it.

Once every day or two, cuts my issues down to the non subbed 3 page preview, can read other comics, just not the one i was picking up from where i left off the day before. Mention ped this to twitter, emailed the apparently nonexistent support. Cant find a fix, nobody cares about money slinging subscribers. Trash.

The app doesn’t let me read comics, it keeps telling me that I need to connect to the internet to be able to read comics despite being connected to the internet. Please fix this!!!

Literally will download a comic for the offline feature only for it to “undownload,” forcing me to redownload it again. Absolute garbage app.

I like reading comics and I like to collect comics even when it is in digital forms. Please include better organization rules like favorite series or characters. It is horrifying trying to find a downloaded comic book within a n**** list of 1000+... And please add downloading for series or characters or simply multi select or simpler make the download button right on the cover of the book. I have purchased the subscription and I should be able to download what I want immediately, not miserably clicking 1000+ times through the laggy and no responsive UI to complete a local collection... and some books can’t be downloaded... why why why why why

That app is fantastic when it works, quote me when I say “when”. I have a subscription with the app and the comics never load for some reason, this includes any type of internet place it still won’t load any comics

Downloaded the app because I wanted to get into reading some comics. This is not the app to do it on. If you’re lucky enough to get the app to actually load, good luck reading anything. When I finally managed to download a comic, the pages still had to load, even in offline mode. In the roughly ten comics I’ve tried to download, I’ve read a total of twenty pages. I was willing to give another chance and emailed support but I’ve waited two days and no response. So here I am writing this review. Fix the app.

This app has far and away given me the most trouble compared to any other app I’ve used. It is constantly not loading books or individual pages. I have to sign out and sign back in to move beyond the 3 page preview. This has been years now with little incremental improvement. Time for a new developer.

The concept of paying only $10 a month for All of Marvel Comics is such a great deal. But, the app works about half the time. I haven’t had this app for even a week and my library has been cleared over 3 times. For the last 3 hours I’ve been trying to finish the infinity gauntlet series, but the comic pages only appear black. Surprised that Disney/allows this app to be this terrible. And it’s obvious that I am not the outlier. This service has only 2.8 stars out of 5. I was recommending this service to My friend at first. But since he doesn’t have the time to deal with all of the big issues, I told him not to get it. Once the app fixes its issues I feel that the amount of people using marvel unlimited would increase.

Every time i open it on my IPhone X it gives me problems. It closes by itself whenever you utilize any other app and you have to play a guessing game on how to re-open it. You have to constantly shut off your internet and open it then retry with the internet too see if you get lucky and it doesn’t close on you.

When it works, it works great, especially on the IPad. If it weren’t for all the small annoyances, this would easily be my favorite way to read marvel comics. I’ve ran into small issues here mostly involving content not loading or populating correctly. Recently I’ve been hit with a bug where only the first three pages would load or my entire library disappearing for an hour or two. I got it to work normally again but I’ve seen these complaints online going as far back as 2015 or so, so it’s a little disappointing to see that these kinks have not yet been worked out. It really is a shame to because again, this app has the potential to easily be the best way to read comics, period. Also I wish some functionality was different, such as being able to add entire series or story arcs into my library with one click instead of adding each issue individually. I wish I could give this app more stars, I really do. I hope marvel invests more resources into this concept because it really could be the way I consume comics in the future. I especially recommend this app for people new to comics.

Loads slowly ...suddenly stops working all the time. With the money marvel/Disney has, you know they could have done better.

Wow. Even after reading all the horrible reviews I tried to sign up for a free trial (didn’t want to pay until I confirmed it would work right). App wouldn’t even let me create an account! Gave me an error when I registered and then suddenly signed me in under a weird username I didn’t chose, and gave me no temporary password so there was no way to actually update my info. Nor could I delete the app and simply download it again and start over — as it created some this phantom account associated with my iPad. So I can’t even sign in with the phantom account either. This seems beyond any normal app functionality quirks. They need to get this app FIXED.

I’m tired of this app not loading anything from my library. I’ve been trying to read Secret Invasion and 9/10 it gives me a black screen and crashes. The other 1/10 won’t load anything. I’m really disappointed in how poorly this app functions.

I’m so confused I want to give it five stars but it’s not letting me view any comics it just says I need to subscribe and I already have for the free week trial. If they could fix this I give it more but until then only 2 stars

I read comics all the time and most of them were on this app. Then it updated. The app no longer opens. This is, to put it simply, a problem.

Got this for a one week free trial which I was originally impressed with & was going to pay for the subscription until it started crashing & now it wont even open & it keeps crashing! My one week free subscription is over & they probably have already charged me. Now I need to figure out how to cancel my subscription without going into the app since I cant access the app at all.

5 bucks for Marvel Unlimited what a deal! Then I installed the app.. what a disappointment. After installing I can sign in and start reading a comic no problem but once I exit the app and reopen it just crashes after the launch screen. The only way I can get back in is to uninstall and reinstall the app.. very disappointed, please fix! -Update: I discovered that if I sign out before exiting the app that I can later launch and sign in no problem. If I exit while remaining signed in I can never successfully launch the app without having to uninstall and reinstall. Hope this helps the developers find the problem.

Been a subscriber for over a year. All of a sudden today I can’t login and it’s giving me an error. This is after numerous issues over the last year involving not loading issues and the app crashing. If it ever worked consistently the app would be 5 stars hands down. But for a major corporation to still have issues just loading the app up is an absolute embarrassment. I’m paying you money and you aren’t providing your service. I’d like a refund.

The newest version of this app is totally broken. It is impossible to login to the app. Bad release.

I haven’t been able to use the app at all. A couple minutes after installing I started getting a not connected to the internet error and all content has disappeared. (I am on WiFi) Closing/restarting the app does not work.

Paid first payment and now magically I can only read 3 page preview. I’ll stick around if fixed soon but if not I’m pulling my sub.

After giving this app another chance I instantly regretted it, hardly anything ever loads online or offline, when things do load for offline reading only three pages ever show up, once I try to delete said titles it says connection error on a regular basis, last time I subscribed was about a year ago and experienced similar problems, shame such technical difficulties come with A PAID SERVICE!

Worth it!!! Great comics, art and customer service is amazing!! You can read sooooooo much!! And you can read offline too!!! Been a subscriber for about 2-3 years and love it. I recommend this app frequently to friends and fam.

Zooming in on full page view drops the right of the page on iPad 9.7 Please make a fix for this

App was recently updated to support new iPads, but was obviously rushed and untested. Comics constantly open with the red nav bar at the very top edge of the screen, when it should be part of the one tap overlay (it still is, but only if you pull it up by tapping). If the one tap overlay is present when loading a new book (which is almost always the default behavior) the first page in the comic will render smaller than the screen, with a solid 1” of black space above the page. The only way to make the page shift back to its proper size for the screen is to navigate 2 pages forward (one will not do it). The pages when properly sized are still displayed wrong though, as there is a small black space above and below each comic. Neither the top nor the bottom of the page touches the top or bottom edge of the screen. Why are the comics still not displayed in full screen when you updated the app to support the new iPads? Somehow I doubt us new iPad owners dropped 1k or more to have our apps improperly display images with constant letterboxing. There is no excuse for this since Marvel Unlimited is a paid service. Fix your freaking app already.

For some reason I’ll be reading a comic and then whenever I close the app it won’t open again and I have to delete and reinstall to get it to work every time. Very frustrating.

This app continually crashes on my iPad and will only work again if I delete it and reinstall. Impossible to use.

This app was long awaited since I couldn't use my MU subscription on my iPad. It's nice to now have that option and while the app continues to improve, it still needs a lot of work. 1.Freezes ever time I try to delete my offline comics resulting in my continuously having the same offline comics....lame 2. Wide-angle. Along with guided view, it needs a wide-angle view. When I turn my iPad I want my comics to be visible and not so tiny I need binoculars to read them without zooming in. 3. Organization. In my library, I hate that it only and automatically sorts my comics by date published. It makes it annoying to search for comics when I have many stored up. I'd like to be able to sort alphabetically or by series. This would be much cleaner. 4. Be able to add a whole series to my library instead of having to go through one by one. One by one is fine unless a series has many issues. It gets frustrating to have to add each on individually.

It won’t use cellular at all anymore and doesn’t download issues for offline use. I’m about to hop on a plane and it certainly won’t be with anything from Marvel to read. When does my subscription expire? Got to remember not to renew.

I love being able to read so many old and classic comics but the notch on my iPhone X gets in the way of a lot of words in smart viewing of comics.

I was going to consider getting the subscription because I’m begging to become a fan of the marvel characters and the app doesn’t even let me sign into it with my Facebook. Very disappointing. Fix your app so you can make a customer out of me!

I saw that there was civil war comics so i wanted to read them but it said i needed to connect to the internet even though i was at a place with internet and it was at full bars! But i was able to do other things i couldn't read my favourite comics

I don’t understand why they put the comics on there and they don’t include all of it. I have the unlimited subscription but for some reason I can only read 3 pages including the cover of each comic. I find some comics here and there that are about 39 pages long but most of them are 3 pages. I don’t get that. I’m trying to read the comics from the very beginning of each series and I can’t because they aren’t complete and it’s frustrating me like crazy

Hasn't worked since Infinity War came out... Great app otherwise. Some comics the panels don’t proceed in order when using the panel mode. Others it tries to do panel mode but makes it near impossible to use. Maybe one day it will get worked out.

A google search shows this app has 4300 ratings but the store says you have 65. Also store says you have 3.1 vs the google showing a 2.6. Really confused about this. Something like this on the most popular OS should have way more people rating it..

I love that there’s an app to read Marvel comics on. I just wish it worked at least half of the time. It crashes, freezes, takes forever to load, doesn’t load at all, etc., etc. Lately it’s not letting me read past page 3 as if I’m not an active subscriber. Deleting the app and redownloading it seems to fix it, but it’s happened twice in the past 24 hours, so I’m going to start getting really annoyed really quick.

App crashed a couple times. Had to uninstall and down load twice so far. Could not set up account because app said my email (gmail) address wasn’t a valid one. Had issues with the offline feature, for example I tried to remove comic from offline and I got an error message that froze the app and now I have to uninstall and download again.

This app seems to work completely at random. Can go several days and issues with no problems at all only to have your entire library disappear on you at other times. I am out of service quite often and try to use the read offline feature. I will begin reading a comic once downloaded just fine only to have it disappear on me if I have to put my phone down. Navigation of series and events is pretty clunky as well with some obvious bugs. Overall the subscription is a good value I find but the execution is just so d*** frustrating. Please fix this app please!

I was a Marvel Unlimited subscriber for years until I got tired of the constant problems with the app. I took some time off but came back in February 2018, hoping the issues would be fixed. Unfortunately they haven’t been. My app constantly tells me I don’t have a subscription, or it loads comics with all black pages or it says the comic has 3 pages total. If I want I can read the comics on my computer but that’s not what I signed up for. I probably won’t renew the service when it comes due since I paid up for the year and after two months I haven’t been able to use it once without an issue.

The app is horrible. Please hire a qualified app development team.

I love Marvel comics and this app makes it affordable for me to enjoy reading them, but the app is buggy as heck... every time I open the app, it’s really a toss up whether or not a comic I was in the middle of reading will load when I try to read it... very annoying. Also, I wish there was a bookmark feature so I don’t always lose my page in whatever comic I’m reading. It’d be great if these things could be addressed.

App would be so awesome and I was excited to use it, but I am constantly being closed out of the app. As soon as I open it it immediately shuts down. I can’t access anything and am regretting my purchase...

Honestly I’m a big fan of Marvel so when I saw this app I was really excited. I downloaded no shock, But when I got into the app it said you would have to pay 9.99 a month for the “unlimited” comics. Me being broke as dirt declined the offer thinking I cloud read other comics, but I can’t. So I deleted the app. It seems like a truly good app as long you are willing to pay that fee.

Opens and then immediately crashes. Sounds like there is no fix in sight. People have been complaining about this problem for months.

While the subscription is great, there are a few bugs with the app itself. My main issue with the app is the offline downloads. While it does give me the option to download comics for offline reading, when I attempt to read the comics after downloading, all I get are a whole bunch of blank black pages. This problem occurs both when connected and not connected to the internet. Besides this problem my only other issue is that the organization of the browse menu is slightly chaotic. If the offline downloading is corrected then I would be happy to give this 5 stars.

What’s the point of having this when you can’t get comics that are out now

I have loved my Marvel Unlimited subscription, but one thing I want to use it most for is still frustrating to do. Reading major events is definitely the most exciting thing about the service for me, and I do like the reading lists service for that. The problem is the lack of sorting with those lists. With Civil War 2 or Secret Empire for instance, there are many different comic runs that make up the story. To actually read them in order you need to constantly scan the dates of every issue in those multiple runs or get another reading list online and follow that. Honestly a view as single list with basic sorting options like: “sort by release date” would make it a hundred times easier to read the issues in a proper order! This one feature would make the MU experience for reading events that span multiple comic runs 100x better!

App never sends me email for forgetting my username to email! Please fix I cannot login until this bug is fix so I’m paying to not be able to use

The subscription service is a miracle of the modern age, and the app itself works a lot better (bug wise) than other (maybe outdated) reviews would suggest. I haven’t used the app and service for more than a week, but I have enjoyed it thoroughly so far (logging in, downloading/reading comics, etc.). I would, however, suggest an interface that is more like the Marvel Comics app, as Unlimited’s interface (beyond some of its reading lists) does not provide enough options for exploring, learning, and seeing editor-picked series/lists (like in the Comics app). And speaking of series, the “read next in series” button at the end of a comic is great functionality, but I wish that I could search, select, and save series as a whole in the main interface. That being said, the app still gives you the power to search for comics along a variety of criteria, which is important and helpful, albeit if you already know what you are looking for. This leads me to wonder: why are there two apps, one for “subscription” and one for purchasing, when the experience could be consolidated? Are these two different developers, are there historical reasons, or something else? And what stops these apps from being consolidated? All in all, this app experience is solid for me, even if (in my opinion) the interface is lacking in functionality.

I love this service. I’ve found it awesome. But the app ranges from “passable” to “completely unusable”. I want to read the next in the series, will it load? Will it crash? Will Marvel email me back about it? You’ll have to subscribe to find out!

Title says it all. Very frustrating.

I’ve had a Marvel Unlimited member since 2015. The subscription is great but this app is terrible. Far behind Comixology. Loading comics regularly just shows 3 pages instead of the entire comic. Regular crashes and improper cropping in Smart Panel mode make it very difficult to enjoy Marvel comics. The comics are great and I wish the mobile application was a better vehicle for them.

Reinstalled, re-subbed and it worked fine for a few issues and then the bugs returned. Basically paying for a page loading screen at this point. This is nothing new, I forgot it was why I uninstalled twice before. This cannot be THAT complex of an app to just recreate an image library. Seriously.

I got a MU subscription for one reason: to read comics on my iPad. Whenever I try to read a comic, it only loads the first 3 pages, and after those 3, acts as if the issue is over and attempts to take me to the next issue. This makes the app 100% useless, because I usually like to make it past the 3rd page... I’ll also add that the interface is clunky and horribly designed, it’s difficult to organize any sort of collection or navigate from one issue to another, even if you’re going chronologically (seriously, I’m not kidding). Fire whoever did this. Or ask for your money back from the bogus company you paid to make it. Worthless. Guess I’ll just sit in front of my desktop computer and read comics, how high tech!

Overall, this app works fairly well, especially on iPad, where reading comic book formats is easier. It would go a lot further, and have profiles, similar to the Netflix app... it would be great to be able to create profiles for my kids, so they could read their own comics. Speaking of which, the app could lock out certain title based on rating. And you could also put the Marvel Max comics in here.

Only thing I’d improve is adding the ability to add whole comic series and events to your library in 1 click

The content is fantastic, and more often than not the app performs beautifully... BUT like twice a year they do an update that bugs out and requires you uninstall and reinstall to resume use. And g** forbid you forget or type your password in wrong because after one incorrect attempt they lock you out and make you reset the password. Regardless, this app and subscription is still a must have for any comic book fan. Nuff said.

Marvel Unlimited is a great service but the app is very buggy. I really wish I could give this a 5 star rating, but due to it’s constant slow processing speed and mildly frequent crashes I’d have to give it 3 stars.

The concept is GREAT. I really want to read old Spider-Man comics and tons of others but this game is so buggy. I started the free trial and everything, and i signed out once and despite me putting my card in and everything it says I’m not a unlimited member when I am. I can’t read these comics. Help?

No way to cancel subscription through app. They force you to email with the “Contact Us” button, but never respond to emails or process email request. Should be illegal. Maybe writing a bad review will help.

I wanted to cancel my subscription since I don't use the app enough to justify the monthly fee, to my dismay there is no way to do so. Furthermore the website itself is confusing and finding out where to go to cancel is hard to find, when you find out the page is blank with no way to cancel.

Has a great selection of comics, decent quality. My biggest issue, along with other people is the loading issues. May I also suggest an update to the user interface? This one is a little wonky and feels out of date. For $10 a month I feel as though the app should perform better. That’s just my 2 cents. For that it gets a three star review.

I would never be able to afford to read all these comics without this app. I have absolutely no issues running it and using it on and offline. A seemingly endless library of comics, I’ve lost count of how many I read a day. I love it. Well worth the subscription.

To the people complaining that they have to pay a monthly fee.....why were you expecting free access to thousands of comics? This really confused me when it came to reviews. I have no problem paying a monthly fee to something I plan on using frequently. As for the app itself, loading times can be rather annoying but downloading them seems to fix that for me. I get most people don’t have that type of storage or don’t want to do that and I agree that the app SHOULD work online on the servers no problem, but if you can give it a try that might help. I personally downloaded this to read old Spider-Man comics that exist nowhere so I think this is a treasure to have personally (I wouldn’t be able to read them otherwise). Overall I don’t think this app deserves 1 or 2 stars at all. That a bit harsh.

I love marvel comics. Read them all the time. This app however is making me rethink my subscription. I pay $10 a month for an app that only works 50% of the time. I’m a daily user so that is a significant amount of time for an app to fail. No other paid service on the map would be this c***** and refuse to improve itself and still charge me. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because I love their comics so much.

I really wanted to like this app, and there are a lot of things to like about it, however there are two issues I have that cost a star each: 1) it’s buggy. Not all the time, but just enough to ruin your reading experience once every so often. It’s enough to make you hesitate each time you open the app. 2) you can browse titles but you can’t search for them. This is the kind of function that should have been baked in from the beginning.

I bought the annual subscription, thinking that I would be reading all the comics I want. Little did I know that the app never works. And when you email tech support, they do nothing about it. I will be going back to comixology.

My only complaint is the imposter spider man crotch shot at the loading screen. It’s just tacky guys, change that crap. You have to stare at someone’s crotch every time you open the app.

After paying for a monthly subscription I find out that I need the app to read the comics on my phone. After downloading the app I find that it is not recognizing my user name and password combo, even though I know it is correct. I go through the process of changing my password only to find out the same problem is happening. Then when I log in to the App Store I see that this happens a lot and even though they say it gets fixed it’s obviously not. This is really disappointing. I was wondering why they didn’t do a month free like literally EVERY other company that offers monthly subscriptions and apparently it’s because they don’t want you to realize their product doesn’t work until after you buy it....... literally won’t even let you sign in, pretty embarrassing if you ask me. Don’t waste your time or money on this, please.

Being able to subscribe to a service for almost unlimited marvel comics is great. That said the service is unreliable. There are periods where comics won’t and the search and categorization options are atrocious. With that said, if you are a Marvel fan who are looking to read comics, I’d say it’s worth a subscription though frustrating at times.

I’m planning on reading the entire history of the marvel universe using this app so far it’s amazing I’m reading ff, hulk, journey into mystery and spider-man. Only thing keeping this from a five is the lack of issues once getting into the eighties and nineties. I’m hoping the gaps get filled in before I’m up to that point but why are so many issues of original X factor, x force, Excalibur missing? Also so many issues missing for the original punisher series runs and the original ghost rider from the seventies has like 3 issues available to read. I know I sound like an ungrateful j*** it’s just going to be a b***** to have to stop reading once I get into those eras.

Big fan overall, but... Dropped from 5 to 2 stars. With the introduction of the "download" section, my offline comic lists are out of sync. I have to physically compare my devices (phone and tablet) and re-‘search’ for my current pull of comics before running out the door. The "sync'd across devices offline list" is a feature removed in a recent update. Please return that feature. I find I am using the app less without it.

New downloads for offline reading don’t automatically get added to library, and even after manually adding them after download they don’t show up in the Offline Issues tab; therefore, I can not read them offline... Tried signing out and signing back in. Tried removing app and installing app again. Neither worked.

Despite the small ticks that are in this app, the one big thing I’d like to have added is the ability to manually clear reading history. Sometimes I’ll start a new series but then find myself not really being that interested after a few issues. So yeah, add a mechanic where we can clear up the “Currently reading” row.

This app is good but it has a few problems that need to be fixed. Once I added New Mutants #43 to my library and whenever I select and try to read it, the app freezes. In addition, the app should be able to tell you your username whenever you log in but it doesn’t. Also, an option to use gift codes on the app would be greatly appreciated as I don’t have to go to Marvel Insider.com. Thank you

Fails to download content, rarely loads comics and constantly crashes. Never used an app that functions so poorly before.

The comics are low resolution and pixelated on my 13” iPad Pro. Not to mention no ability to read in landscape mode with side by side pages. Quite frankly unusable app on this device. Extremely disappointed. Especially compared to how crisp the resolution and colors are from ComiXology. You can do so much better Marvel!

I love this app. I do. It gets plenty of use. I am not one to comment on these, but please for love of all things please please please fix the part where in the reading lists of an event or whatever, when hitting the back button it doesn’t take me to the beginning of the list to have to scroll through the 50 some comics of the event I already read to get back to where I left off. Extremely annoying, especially when trying to download to take them on the go. Please fix this.

This App is horrible. Had to cancel my trial immediately. Wouldn’t let me sign in on my iPad without making me change my password. It made me do it three times, and still never worked. Total GARBAGE!

Look, the archive is amazing and at the price it’s nothing less than a great value. But it’s 2019, guys. There’s absolutely no reason I shouldn’t be able set/save the default way to sort my library. That should be basic functionality at this point.

My problem with the app is that while trying to read a comic whenever I open a comic it only opens the first three pages and doesn’t go anywhere after that. I can see the whole comic looking in the pages section but will only have the first three pages hat I can read.

I have iOS 9.3 so it has run slow. But with the latest update, it won't even open past the Wakanda screen. Will be canceling if not fixed soon.

Great to see the wealth of content here, including tons of recent releases. Unfortunately, the user experience is mediocre. No obvious search functionality, no way to aggregate series into a graphic novel or aggregated series, terrible recommendation options, and price is too high. Use ComiXology instead, although missing some of content that is here.

Just resubscribed and reinstalled the app. It crashes every time I try to open it. I've reinstalled it several times and restarted my iPad. Completely useless.

I paid for comics that it seems I have no access to unless I pay 9.99 monthly seems pretty shady.

If you’re having a problem with it contact Marvel support. I couldn’t get any books to load, sent them an email and my issue was resolved in less than 24 hours. I love it.

I love the selection, but the app could be a little better. If you leave the app while about halfway through a comic and then return, the app will jump to the last page. And when browsing for a comic, some of the longer names get cut off, which is a major pain when trying to find the right issue.

I haven’t had any problems with the app. Marvel Support has been awesome with quick answers.

I can’t seem to read any comics on my ipad, which is the only device I use with my subscription. When I click download I get an “opps, something went wrong message” and when i click Read Now on any comic, it only loads the first 3 pages.

Have been watching this app evolve for the last couple of years and it has been getting consistently better. (BTW for anyone having crashing issues since “Wakanda” update, try deleting and reinstalling the app completely. I haven’t been able to open app for last 2-3 updates. Reinstalled and it works better than before Wakanda!). I do like the addition of reading lists (finally!). As for improvements, would love to be able to go to a title, hit “Select” & then quickly swipe covers to select large runs of issues at a time (like iOS photos app), then have “Mark selected as read” option. Even in list/text form would work (e.g. Uncanny X-Men “180-245”). I have over 1500 Marvel print comics I would like to “mark as read” on my acct... Other than that, keep up the improvements & the great content! Until Galactus has gastric bypass surgery (Galactic bypass?), make mine Marvel...

App quality, content presentation and overall user experience are mediocre and offline options are weak but I finally found the search box and the content quality is excellent. Moving up from 2 star review to 3...

This app is literally the worst piece of software I’ve downloaded in the app store. I’ve been a subscriber to Marvel Unlimited for over a year and in that time this all has never once worked correctly, constantly requiring reboots and crashing and inexplicably not loading downloaded items at times. And as of about a month ago, since it changed its desktop image to the Wakanda poster, the app literally doesn’t even work at all, hanging and then crashing to desktop every time I attempt to run it even after one or two patches and reinstalls. The silver lining is that I can still read the Unlimited subscription on the Marvel website in Safari. So the subscription itself is still ok. But whoever Marvel is using to develop this app needs to be replaced, it is truly an inexcusably badly programmed piece of junk.

I have subscribed for over a year, actually paid for the full year subscription and haven’t been disappointed. As you will see in other reviews, the interface of the app and some of the workings leaves something to be desired, but it continues to improve. Marvel is a comics company guys, not a tech company. New comics come out every Monday, making Monday actually an exciting day of the week. They release comics on a delay of 6 months, so while you won’t be reading the stuff that’s on comic store shelves currently, this won’t really affect you unless you’re an avid comic fan and concerned about spoilers. Definitely worth the $10 a month or $70 a year

Just buy some old back issues in bulk. This app is missing so many issues that if you were hoping to do a full read of most series you’re out of luck. There are so many glitches and bugs I can’t name them all. Worst of all there is no way to easily unsubscribe. You have to call during business hours (um, what?) or send an email. Don’t bother.

Takes forever to load a single page in any comic. Marvel seriously needs to improve the load times or people like me will be abandoning this app all together.

Why do I have to add every issue one by one? Why cant I just add the entire event? Or the entire series? Or at least the arc? There’s got to be a better way. 10 mins in to playing with it, its already got me thinking there’s got to be a better way. But nope, just 1 by 1, add them issues. You’ll sit here for an hour earmarking books you want to read before you can even start reading. It’s got a great selection of books, but this app is painstaking to use

App force closes about 10 seconds after opening after most recent update. Will adjust rating after app is fixed

....Current version crashes upon launching... Selection of older titles is limited, but still enough to keep you busy reading. Searching by characters and such seems to give limited results that are clearly not complete. No ability to rate or comment on issues or series.

The content available through Marvel Unlimited is quite good, but the software is not good. It hangs frequently and simply won’t load content. Reading is less immersive when you are waiting for the app to crash in the middle of your comic. This app will get sort of frozen at one spot in my reading history, and doesn’t show my most recent reads, forcing me to go into browse mode and try to figure out what I read last so I can resume. The app was worse a year ago, when it would hang randomly every ten minutes or so, but it is still not where it should be.

It's always been finicky, tricky to download for offline, titles don't always load correctly. But the recent update has bricked the app for me. No title will load more than 3 pages and any attempt to download for offline reading prompts an error message and crashes the app. I didn't pay for a year subscription just so I can have an app I can't remotely use.

Marvel Unlimited is a wonderful service that I happily pay for, but this app is slow, sometimes hitting “more in series” will show random comics by random creators and you have to wait for the home screen to load before you can even access comics downloaded for offline(which by the way is only 12 at a time. Really? If you insist on limiting offline issues, AT LEAST make it 20). The reason I am not giving this a worse score is because the app IS improving with each update (if u think this app is difficult now, you should have seen it b4. It made me want to gouge my eyes out, it was so awful)

Marvel Unlimited is a great value for any marvel comics fan - with (reasonably delayed) access to all new releases, and a huge selection of back issues that is updated weekly. The subscription service itself is highly recommended. Unfortunately, the iOS app used to access it has been consistently middling for years - generally adequate for reading (if a much inferior experience to other comic readers), but with enough frustrating and quirky behavior that it doesn’t deserve 3 stars. Often doesn’t load specific pages without exiting and reloading the app, doesn’t update content reliably without relaunching, and often loses track of “currently reading” items if you do not return to home screen before switching between apps.

Great concept ruined by a consistently terrible app. It loads 3 pages and then the comic ends and this happens with all comics. Google marvel unlimited 3 page and you’ll see. Stay away from this garbage app.

I have a paid subscription. Only allows me to see the first three pages of any comic. Awaiting response from customer service. Each time I log out of app or webpage, locks me out of account and requires me to get a new password . Waiting once again on customer service. At the moment this app is total garbage.

The app is a great idea and I love comics. Unfortunately, it is also an app that crashes even on the newest iPhone, and doesn’t work most the time. Don’t pay anything yet, wait until Marvel can fix it.

I have been waiting 3 years for this app to work the way it is supposed to. I have downloaded every single update. But it is still absolutely horrible. Content simply doesn't load. I have to abandon my reading experience about 50% of the time because pages and comics simply won't load. I can see these type of issues happening with the first iteration of the app, but 3 years later and the app is still unusable. Marvel just doesn't care about this app for some reason.

You'd think being backed by a huge corporation would give them the ability to deliver very basic functionality. Alas, no.

This app includes a very diverse selection in Marvel comics, but recently, I’ve only been able to read the first THREE pages of the comic. Now I think I should stop being lazy and become a comic collector...

The App is nice to TRY and read comics but it seems to crash and not load things in a timely manner. You’re the #1 comic book organization in the world so it shouldn’t be this difficult for your readers to enjoy these books.

It's buggy

Another buggy update. Forced crashed repeatedly after updating until I deleted and freshly installed the app. The app is still slow to download pages when you start reading something. Still slow to become responsive after the UI appears to load. Clicking on the “More in [comic series]” link will still occasionally search for something other than the series (sometimes it’s a random creator, character, etc.). Also, the app has now forgotten what is read and unread in my library and requires clicking each comic detail in my library (over a thousand... 😒) to get it to update what is read and unread. The comics are great to read but it seems they have an intern writing the app...

Had issues but contacted support and their directions solved the issue quickly. Very fast response

For a service that charges the same amount of money as Netflix, this app just doesn't work. I can't understand how the Comixology app works flawlessly and this app doesn't open on my iPhone or iPad. I have to use it through safari and you have to really work to click through pages and pages to find what you want to read. Marvel takes real money from people here and gives you a broken app. Shameful lack of corporate responsibility or care for your customer.

Otherwise comics may not load on the app. As for the app, the interface is not that great, but it is better than the non existent interface on the desktop platform. The main appeal is the access to and viewing of the comics on mobile, and the app meets the minimum requirements (although just barely) in this regard

Bad reviews but I thought I’d try the trial. I had a great time reading the Planet Hulk and decided to keep the app. After the trial ended I have been able to read maybe one comic. The loading time is impossible. I can’t tell if it’s making progress or not. I’ve left my iPad Pro on for an hour straight with no luck. I was about to cancel it but then there was an update that supposedly addressed this issue. Another month another handful of money in the trash. My phone can’t get anything to work either. I could have bought a hundred comics by now. So irritating.

I was really looking forward to subscribing again but I still don’t see the immortal hulk series

I use this app almost everyday. I've read thousands of comics through mostly my iPad That said, it's not without its many, many glitches and quirks. Pages often fail to load unless you tilt your screen, leaving the app flips you to the last page of the comic, the "more in" button for comics in a series rarely works, and navigation is far from intuitive to name a few issues. There's a learning curve to this labyrinth. For the price and the convenience though, I'm more than happy. Best $60 I’ve ever spent.

Works great, has enough comics to spend a lot of time on and the ability to download comics to read offline is fantastic.

I just downloaded it and had to get rid of it because it said it was free but then when I got on it you had to pay for it after the first month. Sorry but when it says free it should mean free not to pay for it after so many days.

I don’t how people can give this app like 3 stars. It’s everything you could every want to catch up with marvel comics.And I mean the 6 months thing is disappointing but you can still use other mediums for that. Quality is excellent. The amount of series there are is great. Honestly if DC did this too I would be so happy. but anyway definitely worth 70/year

This app is the best thing going in comics. If you have any interest in Marvel comics you need to try this out. A year subscription only cost around $6 a month. I've been jumping around reading different arcs and writers and I've never had a hard time finding an issue. As long as you don't mind being a little behind the new stuff, you can't go wrong. There is plenty of material to read while you're waiting for the new issues to release. I'm a casual comics reader and I can't justify buying a lot of comics that I'll only read once. This app allows me to read as many Marvel comics as I want and I love it for that. Ive had very few issues over the past 6 months. So it looks like they’ve got most of the bugs worked out.

This app does NOT work. Period. For months I’ve only been able to load 3 pages. Can’t edit my library. Can’t search for other issues in a series.... but the billing works. I see them taking money every month.... so I guess they’ve got THEIR priorities in place. Save your money!
