It is a great perk of our public library to have a few books at our finger tips when we feel like spending a lazy day at home. You certainly can’t argue against free books, but there are a couple of issues that are inconvenient and do not seem to serve a purpose. (1) I wish there was no monthly lending limit and instead there was a limit to how many books you can lend at a time. If you return a book, you should be able to lend another in it’s place. (2) There is a persistent glitch that doesn’t allow my daily lending limit to reset after midnight. Why is there a daily lending limit, anyhow? I really don’t see the point if there is already a monthly limit. There should be no feature that causes one to return an unfinished book and then wait for weeks before lending that same book again. Create a special “renewal” area, in which a book or two can remain on a renewal cycle until the reader finishes the book. Encourage your slow readers to participate!

I’ve enjoyed the selection of books I can get through Hoopla, however I’m getting frustrated with some of them not working correctly. My latest book will not hold the page I end on. So every time I go back to read, I have to flip pages to find where I left off. I’ve also had books with half the page missing and one book that only had the first three pages.

It never saves my place when I’m reading a book. It always brings me back to the beginning of the chapter when I stop reading.

This is a wonderful tool for the elderly and retired who are not readily mobile or financially strapped. It is also great for school age children who can not get to the library as often as they would like. I wish every library offered this to their patrons.

Many books do not auto orient after opening.

Hoopla has gone downhill, cannot even get lge print anymore plus only ten books per month, used to really enjoy it, no longer am happy with it, would not recommend it to anyone. Joey2

I’ve always been a big fan of the library. But Hoopla brings it to a whole other level; especially their comic book offerings. Hoopla has helped me turn loads of new people onto the joys of the library.

I downloaded a title. It says "this title is downloaded." Then how come it's still trying to buffer on my slow internet connection? Other than this (slightly large) issue, I love Hoopla and it's vast supply of music.

If we try to borrow anything after 11-12pm, we always have to wait until the next morning. Otherwise, it's a great resource.

My library doesn’t use a PIN number but my email & card number to sign in. I can’t use your app because it keeps asking for a PIN number that doesn’t exist. I messaged my Librarian they said there’s no PIN number.

I download an album to my phone. It take forever to start playing. It crashes when I try to fast forward. It crashes randomly. I can't believe the library pays for each album that I borrow when the user experience is like this. Even when I select a song to play on repeat, it only plays once. I restart the app. Same... crashes or takes forever to start playing. I hope the developers fix their buggy program.

Since finding out about Hoopla through my library and taking the time to sign up I have listened to at least dozen books and been able access so much more. Spending a little time searching will get you a big likes list that will help you keep enriching your life. Keep seeking, listening, reading, learning!

Love this app and all the books you could want to read are on it. However it often doesn’t save your place where you were at reading wise and puts you at the start of the chapter again, which is no problem if you were only 3 pages into the chapter but if you are 20 it gets tedious. The bookmarks don’t save at the page either but at the start of the chapter, frustrating if you were marking a passage to reread or chat about later. I wish the scroll at the bottom was total pages in book, not pages left in chapter and let you use that to get to the page you want, similar to nook and kindle setup. Bc otherwise you have to tap on the right each page to get back to your spot if you were in the middle of a chapter. Great app, reminder that the return date is not the end of the month but the date noted under the book. I got surprised the first time, when I was like wait, I wasn’t done-but it had been two weeks.

I love the selection of audiobooks available, as well as educational material for my daughter. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of 'downloading' quite a few titles to watch during a long travel day. But when we got on the airplane and had our devices on airplane mode the movies would not play, even though the app showed that I had downloaded them for offline use. I hope the app developers can improve this function so users really can check out materials to enjoy later even without a wifi connection.

As I’m reading a book, every few pages, the screen locks up and I can’t turn the page. Each time, I have to completely close out the app and re open it. I just want to be able to smoothly read the book.

This makes it easier on me! Love how I have a free library anytime I want to read a book I can! No late fees or fuss of returning unread books.

I've been using this app for over a year. Recently, when I start a new chapter and then turn the page, It jumps to the end of that chapter and then closes the app. Now I got to the end of the book and it froze. Then after an hour it let me close out the book, but now after downloading a new book, it froze again. Never had problems before.

I love the flexibility and the choices that are available in this app.

I never reach a limit. I only borrow one thing at a time. But when it goes away it tells me it will reset at midnight. But that’s the only time I can borrow something. And I work and it’s irritating. Hope you fix this. I made a review on my Android awhile ago. And you neglect it. I love it but can’t use it most the time

I like this app a lot. What keeps it from being excellent is no landscape mode, no appendices for audio, no ability to mark up and save notes.

On my phone, hoopla has taken to glitching and refusing to play audiobooks. I have to delete them and re-download them, which is frustrating when you’re trying to head out to do something and you’ve got to spend 5 minutes troubleshooting. And then it starts at the beginning and you’ve got to try to find your place. Also, the ebooks are not 100% reliable either, especially if you are switching between devices. I’m thankful for the app, but since I assume my local tax money helps pay for it, it would be nice if it was more reliable.

Really enjoy using this app for the kids to have some downtime after school. We have listen to all the Ramona books and now we are moving on to the Chronicles of Narnia.

I love using Hoopla and so great full that it exists. That all these films of every genre are available to me, way more than Netflix. I would not have access to these films without Hoopla

I’m not very please with this site I hardly ever use it and it always tells me I’ve already used up my 6 books for the month . I have to pay for my library card and I might as well be using audible from amazon

Hoopla is overall great but I really dislike the fact that you can only check out 5 books a month!

You can read 4 titles a month. No charge. From MY library. Neat! 😁

Instead of monthly borrowing limit, you should consider rolling 5 book limit. If you return one, you get one.

Crashes and freezes

Very limited list of authors. None of my favorites are available.

I want to like this app, but it is infuriating. If you are in the middle of an audiobook and on WiFi it saves your place, but if you launch the app when you don’t have a signal, it reverts to the beginning of the book, losing your place. This has happened many times over the past few years. It just happened again. Frustrating.

Have used Hoopla for a couple years and all of a sudden it only shows portrait mode. Bring back rotate to landscape.

We should be able return and check out new media without a waiting for the month to end.

Love free music but app can be laggy. Good selection, more than I thought would be available.

Unable to browse books. The page is blank. Deleted and reinstalled and nothing changed.

Latest update has made it impossible to change the orientation and it now crashes after almost every chapter. When I reopen it after it crashes it opens at the beginning of the last chapter I read, so I have to flip through pages to get to where it crashes. This also happens if I leave in the middle of a chapter. I much prefer reading through the overdrive/kindle app, but each app has different available library books.

As a fitness instructor I have borrowed a number of CDs for my yoga classes. I have been very pleased with the variety and quality of the music. My students often ask about the CDs as well. They comment how well the music enhances our workouts.

Hoopla is such a money and time-saving awesome resource that I am so grateful libraries have adopted. It usually has about 50% of the books I am looking for. The only downside is that it is glitchy, and usually when I most want to use it.

It’s a great app and I use it every day for music but every now and then when one of the albums I have borrowed is returned, the other albums I have aren’t downloaded anymore. I have to delete the app and reinstall it to be able to download music again. I really would like this to be fixed

Love to have books and videos available. Wish the app were fixed so that pages can be turned wittier having to close the book and open it again and trying To find the last page read

I really like this app! it’s fun listening to the audio books, reading the graphic novels and all the fun is in this app.

Use the power of your library conveniently from your iPhone. What could be better? Libby is also good, but this has music and video as well as books and audiobooks. The selection seems a bit better and the interface too.

The service is great but I would like to have access to more best selllers, and old books that I have heard I think should be taken off my account

I love hoopla it's one of my favorites apps but lately it hasn't been working right on iPod, closes its self and when I download the album onto my iPod a lot of the tracks won't play. If they fix the problem then I totally recommend this app to everyone

After I close the app, audiobooks always restart from the beginning ather than resume from where I left off. Very inconvenient, especially since there’s no way to jump to a specific chapter.

This app is great and I love that our library offers this service, it’s great to, listen to books in the car during commuting.

Only four books a month!?! I found a book I really want but can’t get it this is a ok but not the best type of app. Fix this and I’ll give you 5 stars

Does nothing but crash when changing library account info - tips?

I love that I can find access to books and movies and TV that my local libraries don’t have. I wish though, that I could borrow more per month! I am very happy to have come across this app. Thank you for providing this service!

One of the best apps out there for audiobooks, ebooks, music, and movies! Simply great.

1. When you tap on a footnote, it should take you to the exact footnote. And then a way to get back to where you were. 2. Book should open to the page where you were when u last shut down.

So speedy, so full of choices. I haven’t found one bad thing to say about hoopla. Except.......I wish I had found it earlier.

Unless you’re at the beginning of a chapter, that’s where it takes you if you stop reading. Bookmarks- don’t work. Very frustrating when you’re in the middle of a chapter and you have to scroll

This is a good app. My only complaint is that there are a lot of books that I want to read that aren’t available on this app.

They have a lot of new content and you don’t have to wait in line.

I mostly listen to audiobooks on Hoopla and I think it has quite an array to choose from. I’m not too bothered if they don’t have a specific book or author I’m looking for because I end up discovering new authors instead. It’s been an indispensable app since I started using it last year and is part of my daily routine.

Hoopla's app is pretty easy to use, and the service offers a great array of titles. At the moment, large blacklists from many authors are at your fingertips.

Not good, the app is a nightmare, please libraries don’t use this service

Last update made app unusable offline. Errors when try to download titles again. Downloads which have issues can not be recovered or re-downloaded Need to fix problems on iPad. The ebook reader is clumsy. The reader stays open will not follow display rules of timing out. Great when it works but useless when it doesn’t.

Every time I try to check something out it tells me I’ve reached my limit which is impossible because it won’t even let me check out one book. Could be a great thing if it worked.

Great way to discover and immerse yourself in books. Borrow books from your favorite authors and discover new ones. Go get the app, then get a book.

Life is so busy sometimes it’s hard to sit down and read a book. With the audiobooks I can listen to them while I cook, clean, or sit at the computer. And my kids enjoy listening to stories on long rides.

The Hoopla library has some great books that fill the void of Libby and RB Digital. I love the fact that you can watch videos, as well. The kids choices are far superior to the other apps for audio. The player is not reliable. I have reopened it only to find my book has restarted several times. Very frustrating. The thing that kills me is the monthly limit. It’s ridiculous that you can’t return the items you’re done with and checkout more.

The guided view goes from word balloons/ captions to word balloons and captions. Skipping images and robbing the reader of half of the enjoyment of comics. Taking in the text and visuals together. I don’t mind the close ups on the text. Do that then pull back so the reader can see the visuals with it.

I’ve read and listened to loads more books with this app than I would have if I just relied on trips to the library. It is easy to use and offers a great selection.

I really like that this app allows me to borrow library books and read them after download. It also syncs to last section read well, between the app and online version....though on the app, it goes to the start of the chapter and bot where you actually left off. As another viewer stated though, there is a library daily limit, which is bogus. Why should I be told I can’t borrow an available title simply because others have borrowed others? Additionally, I have to guess overall where I am in the book. I understand the lack of page numbers, but a percent would be nice. [As would a way to write notes to myself (though I can do that on separate paper).]. Too, when I go to where I bookmarked a section, Hoopla brings me to the start of the chapter and then I have to sift through to find the bookmarked area. What is the point of bookmarking if I have to flip through to find the section I want to reference? It is also glitchy and crashes often, causing me to have to find where I left off

Great library of options!

Love this app. Makes it easy to find new and interesting things to read but only wish I could check out more than six per month. I also have a problem where I will try to move on to the next page after finishing a chapter but find that the page is frozen. I leave the app and them resume reading and it usually unfreezes but it’s annoying.

I’ve had to delete and reinstall hoopla many times because it freezes up. This is a real drag when I don’t have access to signal or WiFi. And it shouldn’t happen. Why limit to seven titles a month? It’s not enough. They’re not real books. It’s silly and arbitrary. Why can’t I sample before I borrow? Doubly annoying when limited to seven books a month. >raspberry!<

Used to love Hoopla but it looks like we can’t check out books anymore. That was the whole reason I was using the app.

This is really a pretty good app. I find it easy to use, it makes sense and is intuitive. It's also stable and it runs well. I would like to see a shorter delay when you choose to play an audiobook, but all in all I'm very pleased.

Every time I open this app on my Kindle I have to login again and I can never remember my password! Pain in the butt.

Less new releases. Oldies have disappeared and books that ARE available are unavailable for no apparent reason. So sad cuz I’d loved it so much.

Love the fact that I can find my audiobooks in this app ready at my finger tips.

I use this App so much, especially to listen to new artists before purchasing their album.

Hard to complain about something “free” but... Compared to other audiobook players, this one is very sluggish and buggy. Expect it to routinely forget your location in a book and start over. Bookmark frequently! It freezes and needs to be restarted on the iPhone often. Love the service, but am disappointed in the app.

I love that I can check out, download and read books on my phone from my local library. It’s free and so easy. This motivates me to read so much more. I’m sharing this app with everyone I know!!

All you need is a library card and you have access to all the movies/books/audiobooks/comics/television series your heart desires! The only down side is you can only borrow 6 titles a month. Otherwise this service is genius! No waitlists for popular titles!

Whatever you borrow, you have for a month, period!! If I watch all 12 borrowed programs the first day, I will have to wait 29 days before I can borrow again!! That is just stupid!! Not worth the time if those are the borrowing parameters. Fix it and I’ll change my review.

Access great audio books, music and books. Enough to give it 5 stars. However, it lacks in the movies department.

I LOVE Hoopla!!!! But it crashes a lot lately.i will be so into a book and then poof. I have to down load the app again and loose a title or 2 A month. I don’t understand why they have the first of 6 out of 12 of a series and not the rest. Still my fav. B. Y.

It’s great..... except there aren’t many titles and it can be glitchy at times. I keep getting the message, “A problem occurred trying to play this title.” It’s a free app, so I guess there’s that too. I really enjoy using it when it actually works!

Gets stuck in the middle of a book. Only way to move on is to delete the app and start over...3 or 4 times in the course of one book.

I’m so frustrated, I downloaded this app about 7 months ago and LOVED it. I listened to audiobooks and this app was my saving grace. But now, I’m only seeing comic books. Super frustrating. I wish I could get my old hoopla back.

Very bad

I love being able to listen to audiobooks during my lengthy commute. However, sometimes I’ll download a book and it will get deleted from my phone, and when I try to redownload it, it won’t work. Only seems to be a problem for books that I’m in the middle of. No matter how much space I make on my phone, the book won’t download. Otherwise, listening to books every day without downloading will use up all my high-speed data halfway through the month.

I like hoopla. If we like a writer is there a way to request more of that writers books to be placed on Hoopla?

Pro: 1. No holds! If the app actually worked well this would put it ahead of other apps, no questions asked. Cons: 1. No way to sync between devices. 2. Bookmarks don’t work, so don’t bother trying to use them as a sync workaround. 3. It keeps resetting to the beginning of the chapter, with no way to return to your spot. 4. The page turning animation is way too slow so you can’t even flip back to where you were quickly. 5. No numerical indicator of overall progress—just a blue bar and the number of pages left in the chapter.

Great content and an all around great learning experience!

Love the app! Makes my commute a little more useful. Every now and then it has a problem playing a book and I have to bookmark my spot, close the book and reopen. Other than that, works great and has a huge selection!

I used to get a progress bar during the process of downloading audio books to my phone. Now I see no progress until the download is complete. However, afterwards, soon the app acts as if the book isn’t downloaded even though I can see that the storage on my phone used by the app has increased. So now I only listen when I have WiFi which limits the usefulness of the app for me.

I love being able to borrow audio books, and the process is easy. It downloads easy. However not a lot of titles, searching for genres is difficult if you are being specific. Often I can see a list of books when looking for an author, but then a message says there are no books to borrow even though I can see them AND borrow them. And you HAVE to set bookmarks because it no longer remembers your spot if you close out and go back in. It will restart the book! Very annoying if you are driving after you click play. It shows your progress, but then jumps back to the beginning.

Like a little library in your pocket. App is seamless and easy to use.

This app would be fantastic if it would actually save my place when I exit and go back in. Nothing is more frustrating then attempting to find where I was every single time I try to listen. Not sure why this is happening. It would happen intermittently before. An annoyance sure. But now it’s every time I open the app. I actually bought a membership to audible because I was so frustrated. I came on here to see if there was an update that addressed it and there isn’t yet. So very disappointed.

Although I’m not one to complain too much about free e-books, I’ll complain about the app. Crashes at least 5 times in a book, freezes up so you have to reboot, and skips pages.

Seems like an endless supply of great content to read, listen to and watch. I absolutely love hoopla! Also makes it really easy to travel with some good books. This has more relevant content then my local library for the topics that I am most interested in.

Been using the app for a week on my iPad. It app would constantly crash and when it reopens you have to find where you stopped reading!

love the app. been having issues with ebooks freezing when turning pages also with the app freezing when pausing audio books.

Hoopla has so many options for entertainment. I can read or listen to a wide variety of novels, biographies, or other books. If I'm in the mood, I can watch a movie or documentary. Hoopla kids is great for readers and pre readers. The kids section also has e-books, audio books, read alongs where your child can see and hear the words and you can choose the reading speed so they can follow along comfortably, and movies and educational shows. The only downside is that you can only borrow five titles a month, BUT it's totally free! So that's pretty great

I use this app a lot and sometimes it drops or has errors. I wish it had a table of contents so I could see what chapter I’m on or find a certain spot easier. overall it’s a great way to listen to books for free!

Hoopla has helped me find a lot of books I other wouldn’t have. I think it is amazing but maybe have an option to manually turn a book in and get back a space to get another book. Only saying that on behalf of me and all the other fast readers out there.

Love this app and the content it offers, but I really wish you could see contents and chapters and skip around while listening like you can on Audible and Libby.

I love listening to books from the Hoopla App. I am in the car a lot for my job. Other than the occasional glitches it works great.

Make sure you utilize bookmarks. If you close out of the app and you have not completed that chapter it automatically resets you to the beginning of the chapter if the app has to reset after a time.

I really like the books. This is a really good app. I just really wish that instead of being able to check out 7 books each month, be able to check out 7 books, and once you return on, you can check out another. Instead we have to wait until the beginning of the month to be able to check anything out again.

Why can’t I see books as a recommendation or even a choice? All I get are comic books. Bring back the audio books!

Within the last month, the app has changed so that the only books I have access to are comic books. I’ve loved the app for years but this is very disappointing. Is there any way to change this?

i’ve been using Hoopla since i first found out about it 8 or more years and it’s great, i always wished i could borrow more than 8 books a month but since i found out about Libby and Overdrive there is nothing to complain about. keep up the good work!!!!

This is a nice app provided by local library. I would give a 5 star rating but my only complaint is the cap on how many rentals you can get a month as well as the length of the rental. It’s hard to share the rentals between a family. I want a book or documentary, my children wants paw patrol. Hope you get the point because it is a brilliant addition to our library membership. Maybe extend the length of rentals and give us a few more rentals a month.

I am so thankful for Hoopla and the ability to check out five audiobooks a month. I said goodbye to my Audible subscription. My suggestion though for improving the app would be having a way to pick chapters because it would be very hard to find something in the middle of the book that you wanted to listen to unless you already knew what the time code was.

SO MANY fascinating books, movies. I’ve learned so much and recommend it to many people.

I really enjoy using the app except for the monthly limit. I am an avid audio book listener. This app has been very dependable, I never have problems with it freezing up. I understand why you can borrow only 10 books at a time. I do not understand why you cannot return books then check out more during the month. Do not let this discourage your choice of using this app! Great selections, lots of choices. If it were not for the limit I would cancel my Audible subscription and use Hoopla only!

I Love Comics and this the best way to get them.

Completely love hoopla for my audiobook habit!

I like Hoopla only as a secondary app to my Overdrive/Libby (library) app. While it seems to have a larger selection of titles, and I like the speed with which it downloads any title, there are a few areas for improvement. Firstly, their e-reader function is very poor. Once you leave the app for even a short period of time, the e-book rarely re-opens to the place you stopped. Secondly, audio books do not allow you to view a table of contents to navigate to specific parts of the book. Last, it would be nice to have some sort of Hold option or notification preference to alert you when a book you want is available.

I love being able to check out books and comics from home. It's a great feature and has pretty good selection. Some features of the Ap can be annoying though. For example, there is no way to sort the search results. There is also no way to link to the next book in a series. This means that every time I finish a book or a comic book in a series, I click on the title of that series, and all the books are in random order as if I have done a key word search. Then I have to click each one until I find the one I am looking for. Sometimes I have to search on a different Ap to find out which book comes next. Annoying... But worth it. This is just one of the annoying design features of this Ap. Still, like I said, totally worth it to be able to instantly download and read books I want to check out.

A friend told me about this app, and I was so thankful. Even though frequently at the end of a chapter (and sometimes at other random places) the page would not turn, and after several tries, my home screen would pop up, I still loved the app. Yes it was somewhat annoying to have to reopen the app, and sometimes the book did not reopen to the page I was on. Still, it was cool to borrow books without going to the library. This morning, though, when the page would not turn (even after 50 or so tries) it did not return me to my home page, the page would not turn backwards, nothing happened. I finally had to hit the home button. Then I went back into the app, but it did not take me to the book cover where I would hit ‘resume’ as is usually the case. It opened up right to my page and still would not turn. I tried again in the middle of the day and again this evening. It seems the app is frozen. I really wanted to finish that book.

I don’t have any issues with the functionality of this app. Although it’s very frustrating that I’m only able to borrow 3 titles a month, I realize that is the discretion of my library and not a decision made by Hoopla. My issue is that this app takes up 2.5GB of space. I do not even have any titles checked out right now, so why is it taking such a massive amount of storage?? The app store listing says it’s 32MB, but that is not what is downloaded onto my phone. I only have 4 apps that take up more space than Hoopla.

Hoopla has a good selection of ebooks and audiobooks and it is super easy to use!

Our whole family is obsessed with graphic novels and hoopla keeps us well fed.

I have really enjoyed this platform. It has gocen me the opportunity to read/listen to some amazing authors and books as I drive, workout, or even mow my lawn. Thank you!

I’m REALLY enjoying Hoopla! There is a great selection of Christian audiobooks! I’ve finally been able to listen to books that I’ve wanted to read for a long time. What a great resource!

This app was way better with being able to borrow 26 books a month. I am a truck driver who listens to one 10-14 hour book per day. Now I can’t listen to audiobooks past the tenth of each month cause I’ve hit the limit. Used to be awesome, not so much now

Large selection of ebooks and audiobooks. Have not checked the movies yet. I appreciate that they let you keep the books for 21 days.

Love this app, the only complaint I have, I wish I could borrow more then 5 books a month.

I really do enjoy reading ebooks and listening to audiobooks on Hoopla but it’s frustrating that the app doesn’t not save where you left off. It always goes back to the beginning of the chapter. Even when you bookmark where you stop the bookmark will still take you back to the beginning of the chapter. I would gladly give this app a 5 star review if it would fix this problem.

One of the best things I discovered in the past few months was that my library supported this platform. It is phenomenal and there is zero reason not to be utilizing this service if it is offered to you. It is just icing on the cake that so far on all of my iOS devices, including but not limited to my Apple TV, that it works flawlessly as well. A true no-brainer if you can get access to this app. Especially for comic-book / graphic novel fans.

I avoid using Hoopla for ebooks as it’s very inconvenient to have to read in portrait mode on my iPad. I look forward to an update to correct the issue soon! :)

Hoopla is my favorite audio book app for library books. From choices to controls, very smooth.

Updating my review: A few glitches have been fixed for me, haven’t had those issues or at least noticed them as much. Just some suggestions! Would love the option to read books in a kindle reader or at least have the option to highlight and take notes on the book, and maybe export them to review later without having the book checked out! Also would love if there wasn’t a monthly limit but instead a limit on how many books at one time and resets when they are returned! Maybe implement something to allow book requests too if we can’t find a title we want. The app is really great though and has a great selection of books for free!!

Since I upgraded my apt, I cannot get large print. I need large print to read. Called library and they reported two months ago but nothing has changed.

It’s strange it has a limitation of 12 total borrows, cumulative. Even if you check something out by mistake or no longer want and then return it, it still counts against you.

Great app

I would love this app if it ever actually worked. This app is great when it actually works which is only about 10% of the time. The other 90% it starts the story over at the beginning even after I’ve bookmarked it, returns the book even when it’s well before the return date, and most of the time just flat out doesn’t play the book. I get the message “sorry we’re having problems playing this title right now” more than I get to actually use the app for what it’s made for. Absolutely ridiculous and I’m so disappointed and frustrated with the poor quality of this app.

4 stars. Very good. Except one thing... One should be able to preview things before borrowing. Especially with movies, the viewer could watch a preview.

It's really great

This app is excellent. It has a remarkable scope of content and is easy to use.

I use this app mainly for audio books. Has great features such as speed reading and quick rewind. The only beef I have is that the search engine is a little quirky. Sometimes I search for an author I know they have and nothing gets returned.

The book I borrowed is blank. I can scroll through pages and nothing shows up.

Love the app, great for watching movies! Wish they could add the ability to watch movies with subtitles, especially for foreign language films. Also, in Hoopla’s Apple TV app, it would be great if you can browse via genre like I can do via the iOS app (for some unknown reason, that ability does not exist in the Apple TV app). I will send the developers an email, asking if they can add these enhancements. Update 8/9/18: - Developers responded to the email I sent them, saying that foreign films should have subtitles, and so if users come across films that don’t have subtitles, users should let them know so they can take corrective action. - Regarding the Apple TV app, they acknowledged that browse via genre does not exist in its Apple TV app, but that if I’d like, they can put in a request with the User Experience Team for consideration, and so I asked them to put in the request.

I like the app, and usually works really well.... but I hate that I can only borrow 6 things a month. I end up using it in a week and I use hoopla for school so it makes it really hard.

Hoopla has an amazing collection of books, particularly audio books. My one big gripe with the app is that it fails frequently and I have lost my place in a book many times. It is inconvenient but at least I get access to more books.

Its great I love reading but I don’t like that you can only borrow 7 books a month. They should change it to when you return a book you can check out another one

I would enjoy this app much more if I could read in either portrait or landscape mode. The pages turn very easily, sometimes going several pages when my finger holding my iPad hits the edge of the screen. Perhaps this would work better on an actual Kindle. But iPads are very popular, and new improvements should take that into consideration.

I listen to six books a month for years now.

My only problems have been bad sound quality on an ebook and not being able to get as many books as I would like. Otherwise, so handy and cool to have!!

I like the video section of this app but would also like to borrow audiobooks. This is the response I get after borrowing one book a little over two weeks ago. "Your libraries daily lending limit has been reached for the day and will reset this evening. This is a library-administered limit, and differs from your monthly borrowing limit. Please continue to browse, add favorites and return after reset to borrow." I have deleted the app as instructed and reinstalled it but I am getting the same response. August 17, 2017 I am still having periodic issues with the app saying I have used my limit for the day. I'm not sure why it continues to be an issue. Also it would be great to have a higher limit for the monthly videos. Otherwise I would rate it higher. May 27 2018 Im still having the same issues with borrowing!! Not as often though so I guess thats a plus😏 August 8 2018 Finally by the end of July I was able to finally access some movies (6 of my 7). Then the error message again every time I try to borrow something to watch. I have been trying since the 31st of July! I really love being able to watch on the app but not knowing if you will be able to access a show is very frustrating.

I'm not much of a TV viewer, therefore Hoopla is a great venue for me. I read on a Kindle so the ease of obtaining an ebook is so convenient. I also love knitting so I download audiobooks which is super for listening while doing my projects. All in all, Hoopla is easy to use and a well thought out app for those who aren't tech savvy. I love it! One minor complaint after using Hoopla for a while - when an author writes a series, I wish Hoopla would provide them by number. Example, Sometimes a title interests me but when I look it’s #3 in a series, but the first 2 aren’t offered! I like reading from the beginning.

Every morning I wake up and try to download books, says I am over my limit. Here it is the 9th and I still can get one .. my daughter last moth got ZERO and this mont None. Time to find a good app

Fantastic and Thrilling

Don’t get me get wrong, this a great app. Having said that, I point out something that could make it WAY better. You are only allowed to check out 8 things each month, which is not a problem, but that means that you can’t return something early and get 1 more check. They should make it so that you may only have 8 items checked out at a time. That way if there was something you really wanted to check out but had something you could return early, than you could swap them out instead of having to wait for next month. It’s still a great app though.

Love the ease of use for video. Am just starting to use for audiobooks. Seems to work well. There is a good choice of titles and they are always available.

I’m frustrated by this app because the bookmark feature doesn’t work properly. It lets me save a bookmark but doesn’t let me go to the bookmark. So whenever I try and return to the last page I’ve read, the best I can do is go to the start of the chapter, then swipe left page after page until I get to the page I bookmarked. This bug is extremely irritating. I’m using the app on my iPhone 5.

I strongly advise people to look for a different app for reading or audible listing because this app is glitchy and slow. When I was trying to enjoy one of my books it would not play it, overall just a bad excuse of an app DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!!

The selection of audio books and availability is amazing. Sorting through the feed is hard. I suggest you let people move forward/ back based on chapters I am not sure the sleep timer works Could all be me and not understanding how to use the App. As I said, very grateful for the selection and the 0 wait time Thank you.

I’ve been using hoopla for awhile now and every update seems to make it progressively worse. Currently it is restarting at the beginning of the book every time regardless of where I left off reading.

Works great and has great content

Last update made app unusable offline. Errors when try to download titles again. Downloads which have issues can not be recovered or re-downloaded Need to fix problems on iPad. The ebook reader is clumsy. The reader stays open will not follow display rules of timing out.

Not bad. Interface is fine. Not enough variety within titles. And not enough titles. There a LOT by single authors, which is great IF you love that author. So far, none of my favorite authors are here in any section.

I have a new library card but HOOPLA isn’t letting me create a new account. The app freezes up every time I try to create a new account.

Love the novels! Early England! Great to take along on a long drive or when working in the yard, cleaning the house or watching the neighbors very old dog. Some of the verbiage makes me think these were written by a male.

Can’t resume reading without it going back to the start of the chapter I was in the middle of. Support just says update the app, but that doesn’t resolve the problem. Then this daily limit unless you get a book at 6 am. Not happy with this app or it’s support.

This is probably the worst app I’ve ever downloaded. After having to wait until 12am to borrow the book, it wouldn’t download completely. Nothing but blank pages.

This app is not user friendly when it comes to accessing your account.

I gave hoopla one star because it offers a great selection. But using hoopla is very annoying. It freezes and I can’t unfreeze without deleting the app and downloading again. There must be some way to fix this, but this was the only suggestion hoopla support offered.

The previous app version was great to download movie. Now nothing works cannot borrow anything. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Logged off and log in. Nothing works.

Hoopla is an incredible library/free books app for two features: first, the “set” library, where all of Hoopla’s books and audiobooks are available to all users at all times; I.e. there’s no waiting or holds or anything like that. The second feature that sets it apart is the huge library! There are free books on hoopla I’ve never found anywhere else. There is an in-app e-reader and in-app audiobook player that both work well.

Only wish you could check out more books when you are done. Especially with kids books! Also would like to know why I can’t check out a book when it says I currently have 4 available to borrow?!?

Wish more could be checked out each month

Every time I try to get a ebook or movie or reading book your system is already to capacity.

Hoopla is not as user friendly as Overdrive. No audio samples are provided before checking out titles. Table of contents is not available either. This app needs fine tuning.

I came across it accidentally and boy am I happy I did! Only positive experiences.

I would like. This app if they ever fixed things that went awry. I used to be able to read any book on my iPad in any direction= landscape, portrait, charging hole up or down etc...months ago they did an upgrade and now I can only read books in portrait mode with charging hole toward the bottom which means I cannot charge iPad while reading. Also, the fonts are a mess and can only be seen in three sizes. Some books can only be read in teeny tiny fonts. I only use Hoopla when I am desperate for a read.

Why our county in California still uses this app is surprising. A bunch of us are trying to lobby them to stop using hoopla. You click return book and nothing happens. Is this 1997? I wish our tax dollars weren’t wasted on such a horrible app. We are trying to change that. We are loving our local newspapers and politicians to dump them. There are so much better apps out there for our tax dollars.

Love the audio book selection. However, about every other month the app starts playing fast forward or fast backward and won’t stop. My only solution is to re-install

So my library allows 5 rentals a month, but each rental only lasts 21 days. How does this add up/make sense? Use your rental allowances sparingly because you'll run out almost immediately. It would make way more sense if they allowed a book to be lent out a certain number of times a month rather than give everyone a flat rental of 5 a month. Stupid.

Currently my audiobooks keep starting over before I’m finished with them. Extremely irritating. Audio quality on the vast majority of them is also very poor.

I really do live this app, I use it for audio books, tv shows, music. While using Hoopla on my iPod and iPad no problem, but every time I use it through the Apple TV, I have to enter a code, using another device, looked to settings to see it can just remember the sign on, but nothing there. When I open the iPad, iPod, thank goodness I do not have to do this. Other than that this would be a 5 star app for me.

This app is easy to use. You can search titles and add them to a favorites list to pick from later. I use it primarily for audio books and love it. I only wish that more titles were available of popular authors. Very few titles if any are offered of Michael Crichton, JRR Martin or Robin Cook, among others. However, I like history and there are many titles available in this category.

I love using the Hoopla service. Using my local library card ID number, I’ve listened to a number of audiobooks on my cellphone as I cleaned and did work around the house. One drawback is that there are a limited number of titles & authors. So I can’t always find specific items that I’ve searched; however, there are thousands of titles from which to choose. By being flexible, I’ve spent many hours with stories playing in the background. A second small issue is that one can only borrow up to 12 titles per month. So if you’re that person who reads the first two pages of a book and doesn’t feel compelled to finish it if you don’t like it, this may be an issue for you. In general, I’ve been extremely happy with this free service and have recommended it to my friends who enjoy e-reading and/or audiobooks.

I have previously stuck to printed books as I prefer the feel of hardacks and leaves to be turned. My wife put me onto Hoopla and with the access granted by my piblic library I am burning through books at all hours of the day and night. Thank you for providing a very smooth app.

Does not work all the time when driving.

I really really love Hoopla with all its options and narrations. I would just like having an option in Audiobooks where you can pick which chapter or section of the book you want to listen to. Sometimes I read a little ahead with the actual book and it’s a pain to find out where to continue with the audio. Other than that, great!

It keeps telling me there’s a fine on my library account and won’t let me sign up. I definitely don’t have a fine. My friend also got the same message when she tried to sign up. There must be something wrong with the app.

Always freezing up. Always getting a error message that I have to wait till midnight to borrow a book.

Thank you Hoopla for giving access to our favorite artists and authors for free!! You can check up to 7 items total. The only downfall is if your library has lots of people reserving items you will receive an edit telling you that the maximum has been reached and you won’t be able to reserve until after midnight. I have found the best time to be earlier in the morning.

I was really excited when I found this app and I do think it’s a great idea and useful but there are some things that just aren’t right. 1) why can you only borrow ten things a month?? I understand having a limit on how many things you can borrow at once, but a whole month? That’s a long time. 2) I have borrowed some music albums and some of them don’t work. They won’t play anything and they freeze up the app when I try to get a song to play, so I have to exit and find something else to listen to. This also wastes my monthly limit of things I can borrow. I think it has to do with the fact that these albums have 30+ songs on them and while that is a lot, I kind of expect them to work. This is the biggest downfall of the app in my opinion. (Doesn’t apply anymore see below) 3) the apps layout is a little weird. You can borrow music, video, and books from the app and they each have their own button, but instead of putting a search bar under each category, there is only one search bar for all of them. This is the least annoying of my listed problems, but it still applies. I was contacted about my 2 issue by the developer and they helped me fix that problem. They were very fast and helpful and they actually responded like some other developers wouldn’t. So that problem no longer applies. Thank you so much for the help!

What kind of ebook reader can only keep your place by chapter, not by page? Even bookmarks only take you to the beginning of the chapter, and there's no way to search or move through a chapter besides flipping page by page. Chapters also take time to load and turning pages too quickly can skip entire chapters.

Stays frozen and will not work

Love this app except for couple minor things. Most of all I wish it would work with SONOS app to allow me to listen to my audiobooks on a great set of speakers

I like the program, except it removes a book 30 days after I take out, which is fine, but does not give me access to take any book until "I don't know". I would use more frequently except life gets in the way and I can't remember when my limit is available again

I enjoy hoopla thru my library. It used to be 10 a month but it’s now 5 maximum items a month. Good variety. And I like that it encompasses all digital formats: ebooks, digital audio books, music cds and movies.

This would be the greatest audio book app in the world except three times now I have gone back to my book and it did not take correctly (went back to the beginning). This stinks in the middle of a 50 hour long book. Only happens every few days. Fix this and 5 solid stars.

I listen to books on hoopla every day. I prefer to download the books I listen to, so easy use. I have told all my friends and family about Hoopla it is the best. The best part is I can get books to listen to anytime day or night and from anywhere I am! I love Hoopla.

I always get late fees from the librarys...life gets crazy and I inevitably have late fees. Hoopla is literally the BEST.THING.EVER!!! As a Mom of little kids, I use it for my sanity all the time. The selection for littles is great! But of even more value to me, being able to listen to books that I don’t have time to sit and read (without having to pay out the w**** to purchase) is often my lifeline to a world outside of diapers and tantrums. Honestly, this app and the library’s that facilitate hoopla are the best!!

Love this app, use it for audiobooks and ebooks. But it would be wonderful if the interface for listening to books could include the chapter divisions. I’ve lost my place several times (falling asleep, etc) and find it very difficult to find it again, especially with a very long book. Is it possible this could be added?

Frustrating trying to read an ebook when the app has frozen four times before half way through. The only way to fix it is completely power off the iPad. Also annoying that the app will not rotate to landscape so I can’t use the stand to read hands free.

I love the convenience of having the books on my device. Please add a way to determine whether I have checked out the books in the past. Sometimes it’s hard to remember if I’ve actually checked it out or if I’ve only put it on my wish list. Please add a feature to Mark chapter by chapter. It would be nice to skip around from chapter to chapter.

I want to be able to return the books I have read and get new ones, because I can only check out eight a month

If you don’t mind having to return books in 21 days, this app is for you! Besides, just download the book again if you are not done in the three weeks. Selection is phenomenal, even in graphic novels, foreign languages, specialty topics. Film selection could be better, but it’s improved dramatically since it started. Overall, great app!

Saves you a trip to the library often. You have free access to audiobooks and movies and e-books. New titles, classics, special area non-fiction, etc. Hoopla sometimes won’t have the book you want, but then you can just go to the library. No complaints about the app.

I love this app a lot, I think it’s really really wonderful, but I’m really disappointed that you can only borrow 8 things per month. I understand only being allowed 8 items at a time but when I return something I should be able to borrow something else, like a real library! But it won’t allow me to borrow anything else even though more than half the stuff I borrowed has been returned! Again I think this app is great but this is just a pointless thing that if fixed would make the app perfect!

I love Hoopla. I am a serious bookworm and could live at the library if it were acceptable! While it’s hard to find time to read a book when you have small children, hoopla makes it easy! If I have some time waiting in the pick up line, or a few minutes before a meeting, the app is right there waiting for me. I especially love the audiobooks. I can listen to a book anywhere, while I’m cooking dinner or folding laundry or getting ready for the day. It’s a must have if you’re a busy person who loves to read!

You give us choices but when I have to resume [an episode] as something delays me — it starts all over and counts as another title when it’s the same title!! So I continually loose! Hoopla — NOT a fair App!!

The only thing I don’t love about Hoopla is there isn’t a book rating or a way to not show adult books when my kids search for books.

I live overseas, so finding good English books for myself and my kids is both challenging and expensive. On my last visit home (to the US) I got a local library card, and now I can access tons of books (and even some TV shows) from anywhere. It's fantastic! I *could* wish that I could download more titles per month, and that I could download them to my Kindle Paperwhite (as you can with Libby, the other library app I now use), but Hoopla has so many titles and with such good availability that I'm still more than satisfied. This has hugely improved my quality of life. Thank you, Hoopla!

I like it and all but my problem is that you only let me pick 6 things and i want more and i have to wait a month for it to come back and i cant renew things when my thing is at 0 so one thing i think that would be the very best for this app is to let us use a lot if things it would be the best thing for this app so if you could change that i might use the app a lot more so thats why i’m writhing this review so you might want to fix that but otherwise i like it

Love Hoopla and Libby and Overdrive for borrowing library books. But Hoopla also has a larger selection of movies that are readily available.

I really enjoy being able to listed and download these materials and media wish it had more selection and longer rent time for music and movies but other that that I really like this app.

This app is amazing! Why buy books when you can read all you want free on Hoopla.

I borrowed the same two video twice in order to finish viewing. These extended borrowing counted as two additional films thus capping my use for the month. I’d like to see provisions for this.

Hoopla us convenient and easy to use. The search engine is very thorough. Useful information is displayed on books chosen to borrow like the return date. I haven't explored all the features yet, but it is a very promising app. I highly recommend it to anyone who reads digital comics and uses their library. Note it is useful for borrowing other digital content as well. I wish I could borrow more than four titles, but in a way it is good that there is a limit. This way people don't go crazy with downloads and plan and prioritize what and when they download content.

App is easy to use. Lots of good titles. Free. More satisfying than Netflix. Why didn't I do this sooner?

Since the last update (8/4/18?) it tells me I “don’t have permission to borrow this item” on every item I attempt to borrow. I’ve checked with my library and there are no problems with my account. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. Nothing is working. I used to love it, but now it’s useless.

I love Hoopla—mostly. Accessing audio books is instantly rewarding. I can take them with me everywhere—mostly. My one problem is the difficulty downloading them. Often I can’t. Which means I can only listen when online. That’s it. Love Hoopla otherwise!

I really enjoy this app and the choices that are offered within it. I just wish I had more than six checkouts. Could we somehow get more especially since films and movies do not check out for a long time? Thank you. I greatly appreciate this app.

Love listening to books on my long commute. Allows me to learn on the go. Highly recommend it to those inclined to expand their knowledge in whatever field the want.

I appreciate the library making so many digital and audio books available to rent. I wish the audio books had chapters listed. To go back and hear something you jus gotta guess how much time you listened to or guess how much time to go forward to get to another section.

I have not read much since I was a child but this app helps me with audiobooks and excellent reading. Great for those who want to read or listen to books! I started listening to books instead of radio in my travels and what a difference this makes!

Still horrible after the update. Cannot remember where it was when you reopen and jams up often. Have to restart the application often. I wish the library used a better app than Hoopla.

Love me some hoopla. Able to use it from my laptop web browser also. The app has a notable problem. The current book I’m reading will not save my current location or my bookmarks correctly. It brings me back to chapter 3 each time I open the app. Extremely frustrating as I’m in the middle of the chapter and there isn’t a scroll option. I have to flip each page and get back to my spot. On the desktop sight I do not have this problem. I didn’t ace this problem in the past so I’m assuming it appeared on the most recent update. Please fix that bug and add a scrolling feature when looking for a specific location or page. Thanks! All in all a fabulous service.

I like it. But the sound quality is not as good as Audible or OverDrive Apps. It’s also difficult to go back to find chapters.

It’s so easy to use hoopla, I can readily find audiobooks and since I’m forgetful I like that the books are automatically returned. Thank you

I am so happy I finally stopped being lazy and downloaded the app. It is amazing how reading I have done since then. I especially enjoy not having to worry about returning the books to the library

Hoopla used to work great but now it won’t find any book I look for. I have reloaded the app and it still doesn’t work.

Wish You Can Check our more than 10 books per month! Because you can’t, I go to other audible sites first to get books so I don’t exceed the 10 per month. Sometimes certain authors are only on Hoopla and I exceed my limit. This is extremely frustrating. If you could return books when you are done, like Overdrive, then others can check them out. Overdrive limits how many you can have out at one time. So you return them quickly so you can check out more with no monthly limit. This is the way Hoopla should structure their app! I would give your site 5 stars if you would fix this frustrating aspect of your app.

At least now the print is large enough to see it. I like when you could enlarge it to any size, even if there were only two sentences on the page. But at least I can see it now. Burnt now it doesn't go back to where I stopped, it only goes to the beginning of the chapter. Then I have to look through to find the place I left off. It's too bad that updates don't really improve things, rather than just swapping out issues. The pages turn easier and the app loads quicker. For that I'm grateful.

Should resume after interruptions from other apps. Even more dangerous when it keeps pausing!

I have a hard time connecting to my audio books and coming back to them.

I am in love with the Hoopla app. It allows me to catch up on my favorite comics for free and the image quality and reading experience are great. I can’t even keep track of how many people I have recommended Hoopla to- I even posted about my love for it on social media because everyone should know this exists! I genuinely use it every day to read; it’s one of my top 5 most used apps on my phone.

I’m not sure what happened, but I went from being able to borrow books, audiobooks, music, movies, etc. Now I can get comic books. I don’t read comic books. This became a useless app.

Uplifting and humorous!

Can’t complain overall. But the only real thing I’d want to see more of is manga. I mean, lots of physical libraries obtain rights to get physical copies of manga all the time. Wouldn’t it be possible to get any licensed manga series out there and place them in your Hoopla library?

I love it makes getting through books so much faster...... Where it would take me months now it takes me a few days and I find it very relaxing. Thanks!!!

It is so awesome to be able to rent books (especially audiobooks) without paying a monthly fee.

We love Hoopla. It makes traveling so much more fun. My children ages 8 and 10 have their stories downloaded and I have mine. Love love love it!!

Love the app. It's amazing. My only irritation is that even though I download the audiobooks, the audiobooks will not play on wifi or without Internet availability.

Life changing

I like the choice of books but when going back to previous pages I either get logged out or back to the start. I frequently bookmark pages to make it easier to resume.

I’m really loving that app so far but I just need to know if a book is checked out from the actual library then you can’t check it out on the app

I do love the concept of this app. I also use it quite often. I drive for work a lot to listening to books that I do not have time to read is helpful, especially when they are books that help you in your profession! However, this app is not super user friendly and is ridden with glitches. It will not pause unless you open the app. So when I try to pause it using my headphones, it does not respond. Also, it does not always remember my spot when I have not listened to it for an extended period of time. When searching for a book, the search experience is poor. Especially since the filters appear to mean nothing. Reading a book description is difficult when links or words from other parts of the page appear to be floating in the middle of the description/paragraph. So I personally am not impressed with the execution of the app, but man the idea is fantastic. So overall the app is fine and works for the most part. I just have to work around the annoying things.

Whenever you download an audiobook it will disappear or not actually download at all. Horrible user experience.

Why is there the only type of book is freaking comics? Why the heck did y’all do this s***** update like that? I don’t freaking like it. I don’t read comics. What’s the point of putting in the library card when you don’t have all access of different genres!? Stupid I tell ya it’s STUPID!

Used this app extensively for audiobooks until my library dropped it without warning or request for input. Excellent support. If your library offers it, get it.

I was so excited to find this app I thought it was too good to be true. Renting books from your local library without having to actually go in is so convenient. I never have to remember to bring the physical book because it is right on my phone. Never a missed opportunity to get a few minutes of reading in. They have modern books and some of my favorite classics. I read on the app and on the website and my page is kept across the platforms. I absolutely love the service and look forward to many more good reads. ☺️

Great app. It expands the places where I can read and listen to my favorite authors. I wish there was a way to return selections before the due date. This would make my home page less cluttered.

The app has such a wide variety of books and comics that I can have access to at any time. You literally have the library right here at your fingertips. The only thing I would say is to work on how the words fit onto different sized screens. My words are sometimes jumbled up or pictures are sometimes overlapping each other, if you even get to see any pictures. Besides that it’s a blessing

I am pleased with Hoopla overall. I would like to see the newest titles and a wider range of audio books.

Sometimes it is annoying that you cannot check out a book because of a “collective daily limit.” I understand and am fine with 8 items per month but when you have checked out less than 8 things and have even returned some of the items that message should not appear consistently! I like how this app has some books that others do not but it is easier to go through Libby and rb digital!

You have access of thousands of books, movies, and c TV shows- All you need is your library card credentials.

Why would any developer produce an audio book app with no table of chapter links? Cannot jump to a chapter, you have to endlessly scroll. Primitive.

Hoopla is great because even with all the subscription streaming services out there, not all media is available, especially older content. The selection on Hoopla is fantastic for my family as we were searching for some older classics to show the kids and Hoopla had just what we needed. Add to that all the variety in media types and this app is a definite winner.

I’m so happy I had this. I was reading comics and ebook when the hurricane last year and has a large selections of books.

This is a great application offered through our local library, and I use it all the time. The variety of titles is excellent and the different search methods by author and genre work well for me. I like books on tape CD talking books, and this app is easily portable on my cell phone. If I want to hear a story while I am working in the yard, cooking or traveling in the car, I have a small portable Bose speaker that allows me to listen at any volume I need. It’s a wonderful way to read when you don’t have time to just sit still.

I would totally give this app 5 stars if it was better at saving my place in the ebook. Every time I return from leaving off at a certain place in a book, it jumps to the beginning of the chapter and I spend so much time wasted trying to find my place. It would also help if the bookmarks actually saved, most of the time it doesn’t. I love having all these books available to read, but I don’t love having to reread something every time I come back to the book. Please fix!

I love being able to get books right away. It’s perfect. However I gave 3 stars because there are still some glitches. Every time I download an audiobook and pause it, when I return the next day to start it again it rewinds back to the beginning. I completely lose my spot and have to siphon thru to figure out where I left off. It’s a pain and irritating. Sometimes it will pause on its own and restart the book. This has happened with all 6 books I have read. I have downloaded and not downloaded and it still happens anyway.

Hoopla has a wonderful mixture of fiction of all genres and nonfiction. I thank the Kansas City Kansas Public Library for making it available.

Other audio book apps (coughcoughAudible) are so pricey!! I need to pay for the app AND the book?? No thanks. I’ll just use Hoopla and borrow from my local library FOR FREE!!! Happy “reading” y’all!

The selection is great and I love the access to digital library content. However, the app is not very user friendly. When reading in the app, it doesn’t remember the settings I set and they have to be reset every time I open the app. It also doesn’t remember what page I was on when I reopen the app. I wish it gave you the option to export the ebook to kindle like Libby and Overdrive do.

I love it! I think it’s great that there is a free app to watch movies and that actually has good movies on it. Not boring movies. I pay for Netflix and can never find anything to watch. Thank you!

Skips and jams. Occasionally blanks out. Good luck getting help because if you have a question it’s not on there if I cues there’s no way to contact them.

I like the excellent selection of recently published books and the ability to choose books,videos and music by categories. They are an especially good source of audio books. I save a lot of time by not needing to go to the library. No other free book app comes close!

Not a perfect app, but still worth five stars. It doesn’t have every book a person might want and there are some occasional glitches, but I use it every day and recommend it wherever I can. It has consistently exposed me to books and authors I wouldn’t have read if not for the app and for me that’s the bar for success.

Enjoyed this book. I enjoy Hoopla and the convenience it offers. The site is very friendly. I find myself on the site for hours. Unfortunately there are times when some kind of glitch steals away one of my book allowances but I guess it can't be perfect.

I like that I can find titles to borrow through Hoopla that are not available on Libby or Overdrive. That’s a real plus and worth at least three stars. BUT, the app itself needs some improvement. First, it syncs between devices maybe only 50% of the time, making it frustrating to use. Second, there is no way to control the brightness of the screen so when reading in bed, it is way too bright. And third, the vertical orientation drives me nuts. I often read sitting at a table with my iPad propped on its stand, which is horizontal. This orientation thing seems pretty basic. In fact, this is the only book-reading app I have ever had that doesn’t provide ALL of the things that are missing in Hoopla. I will be eager to change my rating to five stars as soon as the developer fixes these fundamental issues.

In general pretty good, 4 stars because they don’t have full library of authors books nor do they have latest copies.

Hard to maneuver I want e books..not audio books

I really like the app so far! This is my first time listening to an audio book. I will say, I didn’t realize that I couldn’t have any OTHER books for the whole month aside form the 4 I have. I assumed if I deleted or returned a book, I could download another. The three easy children’s books I let my son pick out lasted less than an hour. We were both slightly disappointed he couldn’t read more, but happy nonetheless he was reading! There really is quite a selection of books and movies we were interested in!

and not only does it work more reliably than earlier versions, but they have also greatly expanded the available content. Much better program than when I first downloaded it.

Love it. Tons of great music albums even obscure titles. Love the books on tape. All the great movies. My only complaint is that if you commute, 8 checkout limit a month is not enough. Should be at least 12.

Every night I sit to watch I can’t get anything because the collective usage is complete

You need to be able to select a media type and then search by author. This is pretty basic. If you select books then audio you can’t select an author or available now. All pretty basic but not available here. With only 8 per month I wasted all of them only finding all the media was the wrong type. Kind of useless with out these basic filters.

Where are the audiobooks ? All I see is comics now.

I borrowed The Codex by Douglas Preston. I had also borrowed the same title on cd from a local library but it had scratches. This version was read by a different person (didn't like him as much but thats ok) but more importantly, i quickly discovered the Hoopla version has big chunks missing from it. For example, at around 2:29, Tom and Sally steal a boat. On the cd, the police shoot at them and they barely escape but on the Hoopla version, they are immediately alone on the river. Its that way throughout the book. This happened with both streaming and downloading. No where did it say this book was abridged. So I guess this means that people will borrow from Hoopla but will be totally unaware that they aren't being given the complete book. Shame.

This book lit a new fire under me to take a step out in faith and go after my dreams wholeheartedly. Rachel challenges her readers to leave the past behind and push themselves forward to the future they have always wanted. She reminds us that we are the only ones who are standing in the way of what we want, and we are the only ones who can pull away from our past and step into our destiny.
