The app skips, downloads are slow, and their free 1 month isn’t really free if you upgrade to get the best price if you like the service. They also won’t return the money they charge before the free 1 month is up.

I love to read at night. It also helps put me to sleep. However, this app makes that very hard to do. The top bar is very bright and I wish it was optional. All the other reading apps give me the option to see the control bar or not. It shouldn’t be hard to give me that option.

I have loved listening to books, being able to use the app with my phone and iPad, and listening to lectures I cannot find on YouTube. I am learning so much just listening while cleaning or driving.

I love this App! It’s wonderful to be able to have access to all kinds of audiobooks like this! However, the app could be more user friendly. It doesn’t allow you to make specific searches. It would be nice if you could search for authors or titles but I haven’t figured out how to do that. It’s like playing a guessing game to find something to read.

Paying a monthly fee and reading as many of the selected books as I could turned out to be a great investment. I haven’t found one yet that I didn’t like!

I really enjoy this service. It helps me to keep my mind busy while I am exercising or cleaning around the house. I have access to uplifting and positive books and talks. Audiobooks are my favorite. The interface is getting better and easier to use.

The app has been an excellent addition to my phone. The material choices are wonderful, I had read or listen to quality material anywhere. I haven’t encountered any issues with the downloads or the content. This is my favorite app on my phone!!! Thank you:)

This app has been great for me and my family. I love that it is so easy to use. It is great to know that any of the books that my kids choose to listen to are going to have good content. No worries that they will be listening to crap.

I travel a lot for work and having access to such a vast library of good, clean, and well written books is priceless to me. In the past I’ve had to hit the various libraries in my area and try to guess which books are good & worth my time listening to, but with this app I’m sure to find something either entertaining or educational to make my often long drives worthwhile. I have discovered I can get audio books and listen to them throughout the day. I especially love to to listen to them in the car; unfortunately, it stops at the end of the chapter and has to be prompted to move on in the car which is a problem while driving down the interstate.

Will stop play back and not continue will post error—have had to force close and restart app frequently.

I like the app, it works well and as expected. I would only suggest adding the feature to search the entire library by genre or category within the app. As it is right now, you can only search a few limited categories from the opening page/Discovery view.

Content is good, but the app itself needs to be improved so that I can download content and listen to it offline - like on a long car or plain ride. Even though I have downloaded all the books and chapters while I am connected to internet, it keeps logging my out when I am offline and trying to listen to audiobooks. Very frustrating and should be fixed by the developer.

Very helpful and useful

I really like the App. I like that I can search for audio books right from the app. I like how easy it is to choose new items to add. I wish there were a way to show me which books I have read/listened to and which I have not. Over time it will get easy to forget. I like how Audible, for example, says finished next to the books I’ve listened to. It keeps it organized as well as gives a nice feeling of accomplishment. Also, several times while listening, the audio would jump back several chapters. It doesn’t have a very user friendly ‘bookmark’ and I found myself searching for where I was. I’ve been mostly happy with the app but would love to see improvements in the coming updates.

This app is better than I anticipated! You can highlight, annotate, look up definitions of words and more. Definitely a great way to read your books. I highly recommend this app!

The app does not work and constantly resets where you are listening

The books are wonderful and I'm so glad to have them available to listen to. The app has many rough spots though: 1. It takes up way more space than it should in comparison to other apps of this sort. Why is it taking up more space than anything else on my phone when I only have two books downloaded? 2. It's not obvious if a book is downloaded or how to delete it. It took me several days to figure out and now I'm not sure if I was ever streaming when I thought I was... 3. There's a lot of random pausing when I'm listening and then I have to open my phone and look to see what's going on and it often says "buffering" even if I've downloaded the book (though how does anyone know if they've managed that or not?) 4. The catalog is hard to browse. I don't think the topics are well organized or show the whole of what's available very well. When I search for things I find things that didn't show up under The initial categories where they should be. 5. On my pull up menu shortcuts and lock screen page when I'm listening it does not have the 30-second rewind option, it only allows you to skip forward or back by a full chapter. Who needs that as a shortcut??? It's terrible. Plus it would be nice to be able to change the 30-second shortcut to 10 or 20 seconds depending on personal preference. I think 30 is too long. I love the actual books, but this app is by far the least smooth and convenient experience I've had with an audiobook app. The designers should spend some time with audible and try to mimic their more fluid design.

Team, as an older user, the blue/green on white is difficult to see on an iPhone especially in daylight. At night, it is very bright. Perhaps I have missed a setting to change the colors or a setting for night mode? Is this something we can fix?

I love listening to all the books available through the monthly subscription. I don’t sit down and read a lot, but there are a lot of audio books too! Our family loves listening to them at home and at work. I love the Time Out For Women talks too! I have never been able to go to the actual event yet.

I drive 2 1/2 hours each day to and from work, the Desert Audiobook Plus has allowed me to fill the time with inspiring books, I tell everyone if they need Plus! Thank you for this adorable service.

I love the Deseret bookshelf, and the services that they offer

I've been subscribing for quite a while and I'm pleased with the content. However, the search feature is very inadequate. There have been several times that I find a book on the Deseret book website, it'll say "read for free with Bookshelf plus". But try as I might, I can't locate the title in the app. I've recommended the Deseret book app to family in the past, but they usually end up having the same frustrations of not being able to locate titles easily to read or listen to.

The app Allows you to purchase books and read them in the app. However, the Deseret bookshelf plus subscription has an endless supply of books, audiobooks and talks. Whether you’re looking for fiction or nonfiction, spiritual or lighthearted, you can find it all here! I especially love the talks available from timeout for women!! I highly recommend getting the subscription! It offers way more than any other book/audiobook subscription!!!

Enough functions to satisfy me and works good for my purposes. However, I wish all ebooks were standardized against all reader apps, because I have books on Deseret Bookshelf, Apple iBooks, Nook books, and Amazon books. I would like one app to access all my books regardless of the purchase source.

This subscription is worth every penny! The selection of books is incredible, there is literally something for everyone.

Love the app. Wish the audiobook interface were more like Audible.

The only reason I have not rated this a 5 is because it doesn't stay login when I need to stop because of a phone call or I going in somewhere and stop listening for a while. When I come back it ask for me to log back in again. Please fix or at lease enable TouchID for iPhone. I have a conplex password and when I am on the road I login and if I stop for a rest break or have a phone call and come back to listening again (at times) it won't start back up and come to find out that I have to login again. Please Fix!!

So listen to audiobooks! During the day I have a job that allows me to listen occasionally and in the evenings. The deal Deseret Books has with their audiobooks is quite honestly the best deal out there right now! I canceled my audible account because Deseret Books clobbered them! I am so grateful! And this app makes navigating through my books very easy!

I have had issues with trying to listen to audio books. When I click download all it will not always do it in order, which means you will start to listen to the book and it will skip to the next downloaded chapter and skip chapters. I have tried downloading chapter by chapter but it will randomly stop downloading chapters without notifying me. I tried finding a way to contact app support and it takes me to a page advertising the app... I enjoy the content but it is not as easy to use as other book apps.

For some reason this app regularly logs me out. I listen to it constant while driving and at least twice a day I have to log back into the app completely. This is a pain, especially while driving. Otherwise I love the app.

The app doesn’t work most of the time. And every time I want to listen to a new book, the app doesn’t recognize that I’m a “plus” member. I really want it to work!!

I have loved using this app to read good, uplifting books. And some you can listen to, which is nice. This is a great app- with no buggy problems or anything! Wonderful!!

I use this app much more then audible! I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to many books that have truly changed my perspective. I always look forward to new books available in audio!

I would really love this app if it would allow me to read in horizontal mode. I end up buying most of my books from Kindle because of this. It is hard to hold a phone or iPad in the same position for any length of time and it makes my hand hurt. Having options to go from one to another makes for easier reading. Kinda Like folding a book cover back to change hand positions. I'm hoping they will read this review and fix it!

I currently have limited time for reading due to my responsibilities taking care of my 90 year old mother in law; however, I can listen to audio books while working. I am grateful to be able to listen to uplifting books at this stressed filled time in my life.

I want so much to like this, but the app is so buggy. Even with the new update, the highlighting function continuously messes up. Also, how can you have a reading app that makes you start over in the book every time you shut it down? If they can make these changes, it'll get 5 stars from me.

While I love the content provided in this app, the app is constantly FULL OF BUGS! If it’s not a playback issue, it’s a downloading problem. Or the app freezes and needs restarting. I have the newest version (I’ve deliberately checked that) & an iPhone 8+, and yet have restarted it multiple times already today when trying to access new books. So frustrating. I hope they can work the bugs out more quickly.

Every time I shut down the app and reopen, I have to re-enter my login details. This is an annoyance I don’t have with other apps. Would be great to have fingerprint login to avoid having to key in these details. It seems that listening progress isn’t bookmarked/saved very reliably, either. Otherwise, I like the selection, and the books themselves are great.
